(Bags of poor quality)
(Full of hot air, literally)
(Great product, great price!)
(Better than the "other," name brand...) So far these bags are holding the seal, but when they first arrived I was shocked at how small they were. If these are supposed to be medium and large, I cannot imagine what the manufacturer expects you to put in a small. I was only able to put two (2) regular pillows in the large, when I was hoping to store a comforter. It would have been helpful if the description had included the dimensions instead of what I perceive as misleading generic terms such as medium and large. Hence I will include dimensions here. The actual storage area of the large is 20" x 27" and the medium is 16" x 17". I thought I would make a good investment in buying these bags. We were going to use them to pack up a lot of the clothing in the house when we moved out of state and then use them for storage later. WRONG!! Here are some problems I ran into with them: 1) The bags have a plastic closing piece that CANNOT be lost, otherwise you can't seal the bag back up ever again. It's kind of hard to keep track of things in a big move. 2) 3 of the bags didn't even keep the air tight seal. Go figure!! 3) When we arrived at our new house, one of the bags had ripped right open and clothing spilled out EVERYWHERE!
Let's just say I feel that these bags are a huge waste of time and money. I would rather store things in boxes, the old fashion way!! I had tried these space bags years ago and they leaked and did not hold the vacuum...But I thought, ok, it has been several years now, certainly they have improved the product...wrong!!...within 30 minutes of putting my sweaters in a bag for the summer, the vacuum was gone...I would not recommend these type bags at all, they are simply not worth the money... These work great! They are much cheaper than Space Bags but work just as well. A++! I'm pleased to have come across this item. I bought a few bags including a couple of the "other", to compare for myself. My conclusions: quality is a noticeably better upon first impression...bag feels sturdier, screw on cap vs "pop-on;" price is most certainly better, yet the previously mentioned problems with these bags are the same. I did find a leak...nevertheless, at least I didn't pay twice as much as I might have if I bought the "other." Honey-Can-Do is definitely a better offer.... By the way, I did notice a marked vacuum improvement using my hand-vac, vs upright...both which have 12amps of power. Probably, because I use handvac less regularly...for stairs and such. Honey-Can-Do Vacuum Packs are vacuum sealed storage bags for storing everything from large seasonal clothes to linens and comforters. Just put the items into the bag and then use any vacuum cleaner with a hose to suck the air from your Vacuum Pack bag. Stay organized and add to your storage space. Honey-Can-Do Vacuum Packs protect your clothing from dirt, bugs, and other irritants. In addition, they are water and air tight to keep moisture out and to prevent mildew. These units are reusable which makes them an excellent value. Let Honey-Can-Do help you get organized today. (A very successful gift)
(So useful!)
(Effecient and entertaining)
(roomba my can!) When I bought the product I thought it would run a mission while I wasn't at home and I would seldom see it operate. Wrong! It needs help on every mission. Sometimes it needs help five or six or seven times on one mission. It gets stuck on the dining table legs (round bars along the floor). It gets part way on top of a leg, then can't reverse and get off of it. If I'm lucky that happens once. If I'm not, I get it off the leg, it moves about two feet then returns to more-or-less the same spot and gets stuck again. Sometimes it will get stuck on the dining table as many as five times in one mission. It gets stuck on the entertainment center stand (a flat bottom less than an inch thick). It gets stuck between a bed leg and the wall. Its path is unpredictable. On one mission it will go into the kitchen. The next time it won't. (Nothing is blocking its path, it just never goes in the right direction.) One time it will go through a bedroom door, the next time it will pass in front of the open door repeatedly, but never choose to enter. The bottom line is it doesn't save much time. Between getting it unstuck and cleaning it, it would be just as easy to vacuum the house myself. iRobot Roomba 410 Intelligent Floorvac Robotic Vacuum Cleaner, Red I recently gave this to my sister for her birthday. As her signature decor is red I bought a red Robot. She loved it and bragged about her gift to all her friends. I'm so happy with my Roomba purchase. We just moved into a new house and put wood floors down, but we have 1 big dog and 2 messy cats, so hair, litter, and general debris becomes a problem fast. I just run this baby around every day or so, and our house stays clean.
We have carpet upstairs, and I haven't really tried to use it up there. The one time we did, it worked well, even on a frieze carpet. However, we have a thick wool rug on top of it in one of the rooms, and it treated the rug like a wall-it never got on top of it. Even if I wanted to try it on the carpet upstairs, the battery would run out too early after finishing downstairs anyway. We'd have to wait an hour or two to recharge it, or just buy a second unit for upstairs. But it cleans our entire hard surface downstairs without a problem.
It's certainly not the most efficient appliance-if I took a broom or Swiffer to the same area, I'd be done so much faster than the Roomba. But I don't have to! While the Roomba's working, I can be vacuuming upstairs, dusting, etc. You just have to make sure that you clean the tray regularly-it tends to miss picking things up when it gets too full. Our animals don't like it, but they don't freak out-they just know to stay away!
I bought the Roomba to tackle the mountain of hair and debris that gets generated on our hard floors, and it's done a spectacular job helping me keep up with it. I am so satisfied and happy with it. I am thinking about buying the Scooba as well! Bought the Roomba 410 for my dad who is 86 for Father's Day. I also have a Roomba, but different model and I would take it to Dad's when I would clean his house. My mother passed away 10 years ago. He fell in love with it. He would follow it all over the house to watch what it would do. He named it "George" and is so entertained by it. Dad is very active but had his hips replaced, so this is so helpful and as he says the most fun toy he has had for a long time. Beverly I owned a Roomba purchased in about 2004 for me by my girlfriend. At first I thought it was pretty slick, but after a while, I decided that to clean a rug, you need a Kirby and that is it. You canrun a roomba over your rug forever, and it only cleans the surface, not down deep where the ugly stuff is. So it was great for one thing only. Cleaning the hardwood floor under the bed. So this was ok. I had it for 9 monthd when it would stop and do dumb stuff. I called and the service department (who is really busy), and they said it was the stair detector and would send new software. That got it running. After about a year, it would not go to home base and charge, so I realized the home base was broke, and threw it in the trash. After another year it would not charge from the body of the unit as a direct plug in. So I troubleshot it, and had enough. I sent it back to massachusetts to the VP in charge of consumer affairs, and never received a reply. Basically told him to use it as a book end. When I went to the ups store, the fellow at the counter said "boy we send ALOT of these back for service. Conclusion...Buy a Kirby, Oreck, waste your money on a Disson (sp), but realize one thing...this and most other stuff made in CHINA was junk when made, and is a basic waste of money. The longevity is never there! Buy a real tool like a swiffer, and it does a great job on the hardwood. I would not take one of these for free! TK Morgantown, Pa The Roomba iRobot 410 Vacuum Cleaning Robot is not only easy-to-use, but it also includes an array of intelligent convenience features. Simply press the Clean button and the vacuum's artificial intelligence determines the room size and adjusts automatically from wood, tile, linoleum and low-to-medium pile carpet. Integrated sensors detect dirt and increases intensity of cleaning in that area. A three-stage cleaning system and a wide cleaning path uses counter-rotating brushes that scoop large debris into the dustbin and a vacuum to pick up fine particles, dirt and pet hair. Its edge-cleaning spinning side brush, combined with wall-following technology, removes dirt and debris from the base of walls, from corners, and other hard-to-reach places. The vacuum's stasis sensor detects when it's stuck and employs pre-programmed escape routines to free itself. Automatic Surface Transitioning - The entire cleaning head adjusts automatically for both carpet and hard floor surfaces Automatic Stair Avoidance System - Leave Roomba by itself without worrying about it falling down your stairs Bagless debris bin Wall following (improved!) - Teamed with the side brush, clean right up to the walls Air Filter - Prevents dust and dirt from entering Roomba's vacuum system or your air Advanced Power System - Microprocessor-controlled charging system that provides up to 120 minutes of cleaning power 7-Hour Charger - Charge Roomba's batteries in seven hours Active Dirt Response - Detects dirtier areas and automatically increases the intensity of Roomba's cleaning Stasis Sensor - Roomba immediately detects when it.s stuck and initiates its careful escape routine Cleaning Intelligence - Roomba automatically calculates how long it needs to work to clean your room Box Includes - Rechargeable APS battery, 7-hour charger, 1 Virtual Wall, and 3 air filters Rerations < iRobot Roomba 410 Intelligent Floorvac Robotic Vacuum Cleaner, Red >

(Cord Too Short)
(Great little vacuum)
(Does a great job!) I have tried this vacuum for three days now and I am afraid I am going to have to send it back. I live in the Pacific Northwest, where we have lots of fir trees and the mess that goes with them. I have a little girl with long hair. And a cat. I purchased this for hardwood floors and the low pile area rugs I have in three rooms. I liked the canister (my prior vacuum was an upright). I like how easy it is to move, get under the furniture, change to the attachments. However, on the low pile rugs. I watched at my daughter's hair was moved around the rug, not picked up. Lint and little bits were left on the rugs. Then I moved to the hardwood floors. Nice suction and great easy of movement; but it seemed like it was only sucking in the middle of the brush....like I was using an attachment, rather than the sweeper part. When I was done, I still noticed crumbs and fir tree bits. One reviewer commented on the clever way to store the wand and I would have to agree. I would also say that the cord is relatively short; but I liked that it retracted automatically. For my needs, this vacuum did not cut the mustard. Sigh. I purchased this after reading the Amazon reviews. Here are the pros&cons I found: Pro: Love the telescoping wand! Suction knob to vary from min-max also a flow control at the top of the wand. lightweight, easy to tote upstairs or out to the car wand works on upholstered furniture - sofa cleaning made easy! max suction works great to get the crud out of the cracks in hardwood floors
Cons: terrible to push on carpet with a strong nap. I have cheap synthetic area rugs. the brush attachment is kinda wimpy would like to have a longer cord, but this reaches the entire room.
I'd like to add my vote to all of the positive reviews and features; this is a lightweight, powerful and *inexpensive* unit that has replaced my $400 Kenmore (mainly because of the weight). Also I think it's fairly quiet, at least relatively speaking. Panasonic wins again!
On the other hand the cord length is a disappointment. I guess 17' is less than I'm used to. I have to change outlets quite a bit. Please consider that before you buy! I bought this vacuum for three things: price, power and weight. This little power machine is terrific! More than meets my expectations. I chose the Panasonic MC-CG467 for cleaning our thick carpets in our new apartment. We used to only have wooden floors and our old vacuum cleaner was too big for our small apartment. I wanted a vacuum cleaner that has strong suction power on thick carpet, especially to remove cat hair. I am happy to say that after using it for a few weeks, it works perfectly on thick carpet as well as the kitchen and bathroom floors. Great choice for a small space! The only downside for me is that the vacuum cleaning bag is quite small and has to be replaced more often than I would prefer. Cleaning is a miserable chore but a vital one. For those dreary necessities of life, there's a right tool to meet the task. If you've a small, comfortable home, keep it that way with this cleaner from Panasonic. The Panasonic MCCG467 straight air suction canister is compact and lightweight. It features a 3 in 1 Turbine Nozzle can be used on 3 different types of floors. The secret is that this unique nozzle has two different brush lengths. Soft&Long brushes for Hard Surface flooring, Hard and Short brushes to remove dust from both long and short hair carpet. The variable power control adjusts the power to suit what you are cleaning. The dust cover opens like a canopy, making it easy to replace the dust bag. Even full dust bags slide right out without snagging, for quick, easy replacement. The additional attachments are stored on board the vacuum for instant access whenever you need to use them. The soft casters and bumpers protect furniture and hard surface floors from scratches. The canister uses a triple-layer dust bag for greater efficiency. 12 Wide Cleaning Path Anti-Bacteria Filter Uses E20 Type Dust Bags 11 Amps 1-Year Panasonic Warranty Rerations < Panasonic MC-CG467 Multi-Surface Lightweight Canister Vacuum Cleaner, Light Blue >

(so easy to use) These Shop-Vac Type A All Around Collection Bags are pretty cool . they work well with the All Around ... Can't ask for anything better !!! This is what I wanted and it was in great condition and would order from them when I needed anything
I have used the vacuum several times thus far and my expectations have been met. This is my first time using a Shop Vacuum with a disposable bag; however, that was a selling point that attracted me to the product. After I have changed the bag, my opinion may change. I have been very satisfied with both of the orders which i ordered from Amazon.com. I am very pleased. It is so easy to use and dispose. (Kreepy Krauly pool cleaner)
(Great so far)
(Hands down the BEST)
(kreepy krauly rating) I ordered a Kreepy Krauley for concrete pools pool cleaner to replace the existing one I had that was wearing out. The unit I received IS NOT specifically for concrete pools as the posting indicated, but the lower model for both vinyl&concrete pools, and NOT THE SAME. I am using what arrived and it appears to be fine, but it isn't what I ordered. I'm unlikely to deal with you again! This is the best purchase I've made in a while. It does it's job and quietly goes to sleep when the pump goes off for the day. Easy to setup and great value for the money. Buy one, heck buy two, one to show and one to go. Hey, don't know why Amazon calls this a toy, maybe the name? Once I realized I needed to actually read AND follow the instructions, this thing went in pretty easily. It has kept the alge completly gone. I realize I will need to something about the leaves in the fall, but we do have a Leafeater. Only been a few days, but it really is wonderful so far. Please keep in mind that all these typrs of cleaners have to be adjusted to the indiviual pool you are cleaning . I have this same style Kreepy Krauly for 8 years now and have only replaced several parts one in that time ... I'm buying a new one because the old one has faded to the point of being white . It was also time for a minor parts replacement again . I decided to purchase new instead , as there are better feature now . Understand that you need to follow the easy instructions to set this up for your application . Once that is done , you'll have years of a sparkling clean pool (with very little effort) . Worth every penny . I've had my kreepy krauly 12 years. Works great. Since it relies on good pressure you need to keep your pool filter and skimmer basket clean. I've had others that cost more and don't work as well. You can get these for $300 - $400 if you shop around. More vacuuming power for the ultimate in cleaning performance
We've poked, prodded, tweaked, and tinkered to produce the best Kreepy Krauly yet. A wider intake and a resized flapper pick up larger debris and clean more thoroughly than ever. A new swivel design and regulator valve boost vacuuming power. The exclusive dive float and guide system means complete cleaning coverage of your pool.Absolutely, Positively, the Best Automatic Inground Pool Cleaner
What hasn't changed are the great features that have made Kreepy Krauly the choice of over 1,500,000 pool owners worldwide:
It's Reliable: There's only one operational moving part (the flapper) and that's backed by an incredible 20-year warranty. The rest of the unit is covered by a 5-year limited warranty and even the hoses include a 2-year warranty. It's Automatic: Kreepy Krauly works when your pool pump works, using your pool's existing filtration system. No need for booster pumps, no bags or compartments to empty, no wheels or gears to jam, no diaphragms to replace.
It's Thorough: True random pattern coverage eliminates missed spots. It cleans completely from the tile line to the pool floor Rerations < Kreepy Krauly Complete inground Concrete pool cleaner >

customer 's review (Great power, but chintzy)
(Tiny, but great suction! Easy to use! Perfect for quick jobs!)
(Its OK)
(Great for the Price)
(Boooooooooo!) I paid $20 for this at my local Target. It has amazing suction for a tiny machine, and the basic tools are more than enough for me. I bought it to vacuum out my car and for the ocassional spills on my rugs.
The reasons why this is not 5 stars:
1) cheap plastic.
2) short cord.
3) A little tricky to empty when used for dry pick-ups.
While I like it and the price was right, Sears had a more powerful on sale a week or so later. It looked better made too.
If you can get this for $20, buy it. If you have to do heavy wet/dry vacuuming, buy a bigger and more powerful model. WET DRY VAC. Small, cheap, great suction - use with or without paper filters. OK, it's a cheapy, so don't expect miracles. Loud, but not obscenely so. Hard to clean out (without the paper filter bags) but can be done (vacuum out with another vac if needed.) Of course, without the bags the filter gets trashed real quick and has to be replaced. Bags are expensive, at about $3.50 each, with shipping, but CONVENIENCE is what a this product is about. On the plus side, is very light and easy to handle. PERFECT for what it's made for, quick light jobs, like a cardiac cleaning with company on the way, or pet hair, debris, etc, in corners, under cabinets, and along edges of flooring, or a spill. (YES, you'll want to glue the hose connection to the tank.) Only thing we'd like to see included is a long wand for reaching corners, cobwebs, etc, but we use one we have from another vacuum. This Shop Vac is OK. The bigger, more expensive models are more powerful, but thats to be expected. Unfortunately, with Shop Vacs, you inevidibly, compromise power and performance when you go for the smaller models.
What I like about this vacuum:
1. Its lightweight-easy to carry around, especially when cleaning the car. I occasionally use it indoors as well.
2. I've used it a few times. If you clean the filter (or whatever it is that they tell you to empty and clean after each use) as recommended then the vacuum maintains its "full strength" power (as time goes by, it does lose strength when you're using it, but thats due to its small "holding" capacity-it can't stomach 16 lbs. of debris).
3. Price. Hey I paid ~$30, so I can't expect the performance of an industrial strength commercial cleaner or even my household canister that cost a few hundred bucks. But for the price, its a nice little tool for little jobs.
What I don't like about it:
1. It seems to blow a lot of dust around sometimes. But this may have more to do with how you hold it then the product itself. Because when I was cleaning my car, I'd notice sometimes an area that I had just cleaned would be dirty a few minutes later. And I think this was in part due to the how the vacuum was positioned because there is a part of it that vents out air which I think is responsible for blowing around debris and dirtying areas that had just been cleaned. So be mindful of how the vacuum is sitting or how you're holding it and you will be OK.
2. Not a lot of power. But like I said-for $30, I didn't buy this with unrealistic expectations. In fact, I was more impressed with what I got for the price, then anything.
3. Not place to store attachments-but hey, its a small vacuum made to be portable so I understand that there isn't room for that. UPDATE: I have since replaced this Hangup Mini with the shopvac Hangup wet/dry vacuum, which although lacks the wall mount bucket holder (has a side wall holder instead), no hose holder, no parts holder, it does have a much better way of opening the unit AND can be used as a blower. Other than that, they are pretty much both the same even though the HangUp states it has a slightly higher amperage, which I could not really tell the difference in suction.
I have to say that I was quite surprised by the power of this mini Wet/dry shopvac.
I was expecting dustbuster strength, but nothing as powerful as this. I should have known it would have been shop vac strength but certainly did not expect that from such a small unit. Granted the diameter of the hose is very smaller in comparison to a typical shopvac, but still wide enough to pickup dirt, wood chips and small nails&screws.
It sure is noisy though. I would have to wear ear plugs if I was going to use it for prolonged periods of time.
I have to agree with other users that the power cord is just too small. Perhaps Shop Vac decided that if your going to need an extension cord, might as well make the cord small for easy storage. Regardless, you'll have to tag on a few bucks for an extension cord, unless you already have one.
I love the weight of this Shop Vac and both the handle on top and the insert handle on the top base, makes it very easy to hold and vacuum at the same time. You can even decide not to install the top handle is you so desire.
The cubic beveled shape came in very handy for creating a backpack vacuum. I retrofitted an old backpack so that I could vacuum my workshop&even house with this shop vac on my back. It's so light and easy to maneuver this way compared to buying a similar backpack vacuum that costs well over $1000. Try it, you'll see how much easier it is to vacuum and it fits within most daypacks (Just make sure that their is an exhaust). Last, I read on one of the posts that some people are using these for their RV's or trucks with a transformer. Although it uses less power than a typical shop Vac, it looks like your still going to need a 1500 watt inverter, rather than a 750-1200 watt power inverter. Just an FYI.
The reason I gave this review 4 stars is because I took off one star for the Noise (damn it's loud) and another for the short powercord, short hose, and the lack of a typical Shop Vac hose exhaust outlet. I have no clue why they did not add a hose exhaust outlet, as it certainly would have been a benefit to use it as a blower. Space is an issue for me. So is cleanliness. Why does this vac stink? Because the motor is less than an inch from the walls of the dirt canister. If you've used a shop vac&know how dirt packs to the filter, you may as well empty it on your floor&vac it all back up again. Putting the entire vac in the trash receptacle, then removing the top is the cleanest you can get with this. The hose doesn't unscrew; it slides between the top&bottom.
The side tabs that lock are very tight; so tight that one snapped off, so I couldn't send it back. If you want a REALLY good small shop vac, go with the All Around. It may *seem* expensive, but when you get this vac, you'll kick yourself. A dustbuster would be better/easier.
Sorry ShopVac- you failed with this pain in the butt. 1x1, Gallon, 1.0 HP Peak, Portable Wet/Dry Vac, Single Stage By Pass Motor, Includes 4' x 1-1/4" Lock On Hose, Car Tool, Crevice Tool, 6' Power Cord, Reusable Disc Filter, UL Listed, Made In USA, 2 Year Warranty. customer 's review (Excellent Product)
(Just what I needed)
(electrolux vacuum bags)
(increased vacuum)
(Exactly what we needed) These seem just as good if not better than the original Electrolux bags I have used in the past. I highly recommend this product. This product is exactly what I needed. It was a great price and very convenient to order on-line. I'm completely satisfied!! I can't just get these at any store so I was happy to get them so quickly Electrolux Upright Style U Vacuum Bags Microfiltration with Closure - 12 Pack I get better vacuum than I got with the original Electrolux bags. These vacuum cleaner bags were exactly what we ordered and expected. They served the purpose well. They came promptly. These bags are constructed from 4 ply material. 3 inner linings, and 1 outer lining, for maximum dust retention, performance, and durability. These bags measure about 6" x 4", and also have a rubber seal, which prevents and dust leakage when replacing the bag. 12 Bags per pack.
If your Electrolux upright vacuum is RED, THESE BAGS WILL NOT WORK! The Red colored Model is actually a Euerka vacuum with the Electrolux (Oxygen) name on it. These bags fit nearly all Aerus/Electrolux uprights made since 1986 such as the Discovery (II/III/Advantage), Genesis (LX/LXE), and Epic 2500/3500. Usually ships in 1 to 2 months customer 's review (Works like a clamp should)
(A Strong Grip)
(Big difference) This clamp works as expected. In some instances, it works better than an adjustable pipe clamp for flexible duct connections since flexible duct has the spiral metal framework. Gets the job done and for a buck, it gets two thumbs up. This is a nice simple piece of critical equipment. If it didn't work properly, it could cause a lot of hassle (air gaps / hoses coming off). The two wires fit easily over the end of the hose and seated snuggly on each side of the hose groove and then clamped up nice with just a phillips screwdriver. The wires strattle the ribbing on the hose, creating a nice tight fit. I put on quite a few of these wire clamps without one problem, air leak or lose hose.I wish I could say the same for the steel band clamps. I tried them first, and stripped more than I put on. Go with the wire clamps, and do it right the first time! I didn't figure that there was much of a differnce between hose clamps. I used both - steel band clamps and wire band clamps- with my ribbed hose for dust collection. The wire band clamps were easier to put on, held better, seated well, and stayed on. 3 inch diameter Wire hose clamps are used to connect piping to dust hoods, blast gates and fittings Rerations < JET JW1316 3-Inch Wire Hose Clamp - Each >

customer 's review (only received 9 bags)
(Only 3 arrived)
(The vanishing Vacuum bags!)
(Hoover Type Y Vacuum Bags)
(Better than the "stock" bag!) Only received 9 bags, instead of 36. Amazon offered a refund or 20% off... why would I pay 80% if I only received 25% of the product? So back they went. They did look like nice bags, unfortunately I did not get a chance to use them. Only 3 bags were shipped. Amazon requires that you return the product and re-order the 36 bags. This seems a little crazy to me - I'm supposed to order the same product again and just hope that the order will turn out right this time? Amazon, oh Amazon, why can't you give me some decent customer service and send the other 33 bags? For me, the savings here isn't worth the extra time&trouble. On-line is becoming the best way to get vacuum bags for older vacuum cleaners, at a decent cost. So far, the quality is very good! These bags were received lightning fast and they were exactly what I needed for my Hoover vacuum cleaner. Great price and it even has an adhesive cover to place over the hole when the bag is full. The "stock" bag from Hoover didn't even have this. I am docking 1 star simply because the bag appears to be a few inches too tall for my model Hoover vacuum which takes "Y" bags. 36 HOOVER Y MICROFILTRATION VACUUM BAGS. THESE BAGS ARE THE BEST QUALITY REPLACEMENT MICROFILTRATION BAGS AVAILABLE. DESIGNED TO FIT ALL HOOVER UPRIGHT WIND TUNNEL SERIES VACUUMS USING THE Y BAG. customer 's review (desktop photo studio) Definitely worth the price from Amazon - but don't buy from pricier stores. It is a cute little model, sets up nice (altho not overly sturdy - the corners don't fit "quite' right but the Velcro makes it work OK), and the blue backdrop is working very nicely for almost every subject. My only 2 real concerns have been: the camera tripod that comes with it doesn't stay extended (but then I prefer to hand-hold my camera anyway); and the directions to set up the studio initially put it up backwards - or was it inside out?! Anyway, once I figured that out, I was in business, and I've been using it almost daily. The adjustable spotlights are great, the diffusers work fantastic, overall I'm very pleased with the studio - and all my co-workers are so impressed with my 'access to and knowledge of technology' and with the photographs that I'm turning out for our museum! I'm very glad I bought it! Home photo studio for online auction selling. Air-O-Swiss
customer 's review (Started out well... Finished Not So Good)
(Satisfied Customer)
(Beautiful design but the built in humidity detector has major flaw)
(Absolute waste of money, save yourself the frustration)
(Poor execution) Bought this item about 1.5 years back... After about 2 months into use, proper cleaning, etc the tank leaked all over the place. Called Air-O-Swiss and they eventually sent a replacement....
Well recently the replacement started to do the same thing - leak all over the place.
It's a decent humidifier but the quality of the build is horrible.
If there are other options for you get a different one. I have had this product for the past year and was surprised to read all of the bad reviews. I have been very happy with it and I think that it does a good job. In addition, the Air-O-Swiss EX Cal cleaner is great! I use very hot water and leave it for over 30 minutes and am able to get it very clean. I'm very happy with the machine.
I just got this beautiful designed humidifier and was hoping to retired my older version of the air-o-swiss 7135 (the one with blue see through tank)and I was very disappointed how the newer version I just got. I set it 45% humidity and set it in my living room. the humidity detector just can't accurately detect how humid it is in the room and keep pumping the mist. At first I thought maybe it's the size of my living room so i left it on then went do some grocery shopping. When I get back home, the moment I opened the front door I sense the humidity is high in the room (I guess the unit just keeps pumping the mist) and I went to check the "current humidity" it still says 32 ~ 40 and never can reach 45% as I wanted. but then I put the older version (the one with blue tank) at the same place, it humidified the room quickly up to 45% and the mist stopped and when the humidity dropped below 45% then it start pumping the mist.
Yes the newer version has more beautiful and modern design and look to it but if you have to pay almost $100 more for the newer version and the humidity detector is not working as well as the older one (with blue tank), then what's the point? the whole point of paying for a more expensive humidifer is that it will automatically detect the room's humidity and maintaine the desired humidity level.
So I am gonna return this unit, and get another older verion with the blue tank # 7135.
As other reviewers mentioned about the leak at the bottom, white dust, I didn't experience any of it. I love how it looks, and definitly can humidify the room to a higher level of humidity but was very unhappy how they just slap in a cheap¬ accurate humidity detector in. some engineer from Air-O-Swiss who designed this unit should be fired!
I purchased this item 2 years ago. After about 3 nights of use it began leaking all over the place. After days of frustrating calls to their customer service department they talked me into buying a replacement filter cartridge ($30)- no replacement or warranty. I waited 2 weeks, got the cartridge, replaced it, got it working and it leaked gallons. Again, after days of arguing, I finally got a person who agreed to send me a new unit. I received it, and I got 3 nights of use and though it did not leak this time, it would not create mist on night 3- did not work. Unit monitor kept saying it needed cleaning. I called again, and they sent me yet again another cartridge, I replaced it, got one night and then nothing. I put it in the garage and let it sit there. Today I took it out, replaced the cartrige yet again and of course it did not work. In frustration, I am writing this note. This thing costs $200.00!!!!! We purchased a $25 kid's eeephant humidifier a year ago and it has never stopped working. As others have mentioned, the hygrometer on this unit is completely useless. When measured against an external hygrometer, the one on the air-o-swiss unit does not go above 30 while the external unit has reached as high as 60. Mine also came with a tank that began leaking around the seams at the base and had to be sealed up with a glue gun. Nice product on paper but poor quality and definitely not worth the price. This efficient Air-O-Swiss Ultrasonic humidifiier uses several cutting edge technologies to achieve an optimum quality of environmental control. High-frequency vibrations generate a micro-fine mist, while an Intelligent Temperature Compensation system (ICS) measures humidity relative to the room temperature and automatically adjusts the output to achieve an optimum balance dynamically as conditions change. The water is kept clean with three separate processes that make up the Microbial Protection System: ultrasonic technology, pre-heating, and Ionic Silver Stick. The latter makes use of the proven anti-microbial qualities of Silver, which has proven effective against more than 650 types of bacteria without any chemical additives. When operated with the pre-heating function, the water is heated to 176 F before it enters the nebulizer chamber. The mist exits the appliance at a comfortable temperature of 104 F. This neutralizes the cooling effect of mist to keep the room temperature from falling, and also keeps the water cleaner. A replaceable demineralization cartridge ensures a hygienic, pure water mist, without lime scale or mineral residues. Exchangeable demineralization cartridge / Quiet operation /Easy to clean and handle Suitable for rooms up to 860 sq. ft. Power consumption - 40W w/o pre-heating, 140W w/ pre-heating / Moisture output - up to 3.5 gallons / 24 hrs Water capacity - 2.0 gallons Dimensions - 9.8 x 11.0 x 17.3 Weight - 8.0 lbs. (Best Product to detect Vacuum Leaks)
(Decent for the Price) Very happy with the gauge--it is solidly constructed with a solid metal case and glass face. The gauge is large enough (4" across?) that I could rest it on the engine and read it from the driver's seat as I adjusted the throttle. Nice also that it comes with enough hose and fittings to be useful right out of the box... Good Product and Good Price

Must need if you want to detect vacuum leaks on your vehicle.
For under $20 you can't really complain about it. It's definitely a light duty gauge. It's not dampened and swings wildly in automotive vacuum applications. I got this instead of a $100+ motorcycle vac gauge for carb syncing. It got the job done, but I had to pinch down on the lines with a clamp significantly to get a semi steady, readable number. With a little extra effort I got the job done and saved $90 in the process. I'd buy another if this one broke. (A great eye-opening journey into a)
(A GRITTY, FASCINATING, TRAIN WRECK OF A BOOK)
(Bangkok dangerous)
(Sex and the City) As an American straight male, Newbold's book took me on a fascinating journey seen through some very foreign eyes. Much as Memoirs of a Geisha allowed westerners to "see a different world" from a different perspective (and written as "memoir style" by someone who's neither Japanese or female), Vacuum Packed took me on a voyage of discovery through alien terrain. Witty, cogent and beautifully spare, Newbold's style allows you a pleasantly unfettered view of the light and dark sides of young gay life in London and Bangkok.
What I initially thought would be a "gay book," a work of genre fiction, turned out to be much more. Vacuum Packed is filled with universal themes that will strike a chord with readers of any orientation or background. Who hasn't felt lonely, drawn to the seedy netherworld, self-destructive or despondent?
Newbold's book re-affirms that we all - straight, gay, western, Thai - need and want to find love. And many among us, like the central characters of Jamie and Craig, are on a seemingly endless journey to find it, with countless detours along the way.
As well, the humorous, keen observations and a fast-paced story make this a compelling read that resonates long after reaching the climax.

And many among us, like the central characters of Jamie and Craig, are on a seemingly endless journey to find it, with countless detours along the way. As well, the humorous, keen observations and a fast-paced story make this a compelling read that resonates long after reaching the climax. Whew! VACUUM PACKED is one hell of a disturbing read, and that works both for and against the book. Newbold?s interlocking stories of two gay, London residents, in their early twenties, struggling through the stark and ugly final years of the twentieth century, are on one hand morbidly captivating, while on the other, horrendously depressing. If you?re looking for a light entertaining distraction, then, by all means, pass on this novel, but if you are fascinated by the seamy under-belly of a drug-addled, sex-obsessed gay sub-culture, where chemically induced satisfaction and indiscriminate sex are the behavior-patterns du jour, then this is most definitely a book for you.
As our tale unfolds, Jamie and Craig have split-up. Jamie, self-absorbed and cynical, is enraged by Craig?s confession of his HIV positive status. When Craig needs him most, Jamie walks defiantly away, leaving Craig to ponder his uncertain future alone. For Jamie it is just one more let-down in a life full of disappointments.Jamie yearns to be hip and magazine-cool but, try as he may he never really finds the formula for this kind of superficial, hedonistic success. While he is cute and buff, there is always someone hotter around to spoil his ego-trip. He can?t live up to the socio-economic standard he has set for himself. For Jamie, it is easier to get lost in a haze of drugs and alcohol than to face this bitter reality. Craig is hurt and horribly disillusioned. He desires nothing more than to escape his suffocating existence while he still can. Craig wants to travel to the distant corners of the globe where he can forget his immediate problems. He too refuses to face the realities of his life. The last thing he wants to deal with is his HIV diagnosis and all of its ramifications. With the financial help of his supportive mother and step-father, Craig takes a leave-of-absence from his nursing job, and boards a plane for Bangkok. Jamie, stuck in frigid London, loses his insignificant job in a trendy club, and, as a last resort, contacts a gay-porn director who has taken a fancy to him, and offered him some ?film work?. While he never, in his wildest dreams, imagined himself "doing it" on screen, the money does help to pay the rent and feed his drug and alcohol habit; a habit that allows him to emotionally distance himself from this questionable choice of occupation. A vicious circle if you will. Jamie also mooches-off his guilt-ridden and physically abused mother, both resenting and pitying her as he squeezes her heart and purse-strings for yet another wad of cash. Jamie is barreling full-throttle down a highway of self-destruction, and he knows it, but he is unable and unwilling to make an exit. Meanwhile, Craig, intent on experiencing Thailand?s notorious gay life, takes up residence in the Malaysia Hotel, a well-known establishment catering to the European and American sex-tourist trade. Craig quickly immerses himself in the red-light, anything-for-a-price culture of the teaming tropical city. Eye-candy is everywhere, and every piece can be bought. Craig has landed smack dab in the middle of a crude and lust-filled sweet-shop, and while he initially gorges himself, it isn?t long before his conscience develops a tummy ache.
This is a well written, gut-wrenching novel. The descriptive details are remarkable, and the situations, uncomfortably riveting, but the overall effect is gloomy and demoralizing, leaving a sour taste on the tongue. There is nothing to be hopeful for in Jamie?s world, except for an evening?s sexual possibilities, and a line of blow. What little light shines on Craig?s existence is half-hearted at best. The text doesn?t vary from this incredibly depressing format. The reader is never allowed to forget that life for these two holds very little promise. This inordinately bleak attitude, unfortunately, causes one to lose all empathy for the two main characters, and forces one to stay detached, rather than getting emotionally involved; as if watching a train wreck from a safe distance. It is hard to pull your eyes away from the ensuing tragedy, yet you are disgusted and saddened by what you see. This is gritty, thought-provoking stuff for those who have the stomach for it. Vacuum-Packed portrays two British men in their very early 20s. Jamie and Craig have been lovers but when Craig tests HIV positive, shallow Jamie, who's only out to search for his own pleasures, if not necessarily happiness, tosses him away. Craig decides to holiday in Thailand, while Jamie pursues his movie career, which turns into a nightmarish trip to Spain with an abusive porn producer. Craig, on the other hand, finds numerous temptations in Thailand, seemingly fleeing from Bangkok to Koh Samui and back, only to realise that he won't find what he's been looking for - whatever it might be.In an honest depiction of gay lives, Newbold manages to describe the shallowness of the gay scene. The all-pervading egocentricity of young (and not-so-young) men, who are stuck in a permanent loop of physicality, a world where everything and everybody becomes a mere commodity, is described with vivacity. The lonely, dispassionate gay scenes of London and Bangkok destroy these character's lives and turn them into emotional zombies who are unable to grasp anything besides stilling their hunger for sex and a certain glimpse of the hope that everything will turn out for the better. However, Newbold is relentless: there is no salvation for any of them. The almost complete depersonalisation follows in the satirical tradition of Bret Easton Ellis and Michel Houellebecq. Bangkok chaos is described with the fine eye of the observer; sex tourism and the commercialisation of sex is a fact of Thailand's socio-biography still largely disregarded, most of all by expatriates and travel companies. Newbold not only depicts sex tourism but also tries to find explanations for the rampant sex trade, and he finds it in the economic gap between Caucasians and Thais. Nevertheless, Newbold neither preaches nor condemns this - he is a remorseless portraitist. This novel is the first truthful description of Bangkok's gay scene, without the rose-tinted glasses. In a mixture of graphic, honest scenes and outrageous, shocking tales, Newbold has created an amazing debut novel: you'll be annoyed, dazed, appalled but also intrigued. Given the mountain of expat novels that paint Thailand as exotic sex paradise, you'd think Bangkok's throbbing gay subculture would figure in at least some of them. But other than Peter Jackson's The Intrinsic Quality of Skin (Floating Lotus, 1994), an oddly baroque tale of a gay Australian who thinks he's a Thai man trapped in a white man's body, there's been nothing until this small press offering from Robin Newbold. The two principle characters are: Jamie, a vacuous disco bunny with the attention span of a squirrel; and, Craig, the lover he dumps after discovering he?s HIV-positive. What can one learn from the self-absorbed musings of such post-literate, designer drug-popping slackers? A fair bit, it turns out. Newbold, who has obviously read his P.P. Hartnett and Bret Easton Ellis, describes the emptiness of pop culture and the wreckage of lost young lives with a world-weary cynicism that can sting with its bite: "According to Attitude if someone held your stare for over twelve seconds it meant they wanted you and Jamie calculated the guy had held his gaze for at least fifteen seconds last visit. He normally relied on such pop psychology as gospel and certainly hoped it was true as he was desperate for some 'boy on boy action', as it was so charmingly termed in the pink press." In alternating chapters, we get the story of Craig, who travels to Thailand to rediscover the meaning of life post-diagnosis, and Jamie, who stays in London to seek fame and fortune as a pop star while avoiding his homophobic father and abused mother. When the book begins, the young men are social equals. But as their stories progress, Jamie and Craig assume opposite roles in the same exploitation dynamic: Craig, as white tourist patron of handsome young Thai boys, and Jamie, as submissive boytoy of the creepy older English men, including a porn producer, who use him. One world, indeed. The Thai chapters follow Craig's wanderings through Bangkok and the surrounding area. The sex scenes are well drawn, reflecting the disappointment of hurried, emotionless commercial transaction. While everyone's guilty of bad behaviour, the Western characters are singled out for well-deserved skewering. Like the American who keeps a harem of teenaged Thai freelancers at his hotel: "Craig was confronted with several badly dressed, skinny boys shivering in the icy air-conditioned room. They looked so timid and out of place with the bold and extravagant furnishings and fittings. The huddle nervously slurped beer and tried to blend into the background, their chatter obliterated by MTV?" Vacuum-Packed is not without flaws. Jamie and Craig's relationship is treated as a mere detail; a little more plot reference to their time together might have added layers of depth. A misspelling or two ("hoards" instead of "hordes" for crowds) escaped the editor?s notice, and Newbold"s fondness for adverbs occasionally grates. But these are minor quibbles in a first novel that reveals a surprisingly confident voice and an instinct for good storytelling - a fact that bodes well for a second novel. Two Worlds In the closing decade of the twentieth century, Craig is an HIV-positive young man seeking meaning through escape, traveling from London to Bangkok, discovering that "The Land of Smiles" is one in distress. Meanwhile Jamie, Craig's ex, immerses himself in London's club scene, trying to hide from the realities of his disintegrating life and a family that is too wrapped up in its own troubles to care what happens to him. In this tale of desperation, damnation and redemption, we discover that sometimes to be human means simply to be.
