i have a small house with wood floors and high ceilings so needed a canister vacuum. after a lot of reading (and worrying about finding the right one) i decided on this one. it's the perfect size. looks great. works great.
I've been using this vacuum for about a year and overall I am happy with it. It is quiet, easy to manuver and has good suction. The cons are that some of the parts are poorly designed and are made of cheap material. Namely, the hose attachments. For the life of me I cannot get the brush attachment to stay on the end of the hose securely. It always falls off as I'm using it. Furthermore, the little flippers on the side of the brush which can be opened up to create another attachment are a cute idea but they add extra weight and bulk to the entire attachment making it more difficult to use and more apt to fall off from the hose because of its weight. The giant plastic attachment holder which can be snapped onto the hose so that you can conveniently carry all the attachments with you as you vaccum, is also bulky and heavy, making it impossible to move the wand around with ease. It also tends to swing around or fall off as you are vacuuming. It's not worth using at all. It's also made of very cheap plastic. The biggest problem I've had is that the button you press to release the end of the hose from the wand doesn't work no matter how hard I press. I've had to stick a knife in there and use leverage to get the notch inside to lift enough to pull the two hoses apart. It's very annoying when you want to quickly switch to an attachment while vacuuming. Lately I've figured out that if I press the hose down into the wand as I press the button, then twist I can get them apart. But it takes a lot of strength and sometimes it doesn't work.

I have a Lindhaus for my carpets and would never get rid of it but we just had hardwood flooring installed and needed something for them as well. This little canister is a true gem. It works great on my floors and the size is SO convenient. I can carry it around if I want while using the brush attachment to dust my log walls or whatever. As others have said, it's not the greatest on thick carpeting but it's perfect for hardwood.
OK, in the interest of disclosure, I must tell all of you that "I am not normal". I have a vacuum fetish. (I also have relatively little carpeting).

Perhaps not a fetish exactly; more like an obsession. At one point in my life, I owned 12 (seriously: Roomba, Royal hand vac, uprights, cordless, Dyson (blech)...). It was part of my seemingly never-ending search for the vacuum of my dreams - the type of vacuum that would fill my cleaning days with thoughts of clouds, world peace and newborn kittens.

The Electrolux Harmony provides none of that, of course, but what it does provide is the best vacuum "experience" I've ever had.

When you remove the product from the box, you are struck with the attractiveness of the unit. Yes, it is a good-looking piece of machinery. I removed each piece, picked up the "Quick Start Guide" and had the whole thing assembled in 3 minutes, tops. Now for the acid test.

I plugged it in, pressed the button and SERIOUSLY? This vacuum is incredibly quiet. My previous favorite sounded like a jet plane on take-off, this one sounds like a 1976 Cadillac cruising on a glass-smooth freeway. Honestly, it really is amazingly quiet. The gentle sound of the air moving into the nozzle overwhelms the sound of the motor - and that is just fine by me. Even my cat didn't run! It's rather soothing, actually.

Cleaning performance and handling are first rate. Excellent edge suction and wonderful maneuverability. The canister glides on its wheels. And, the cord extends with you - none of that pulling the cord out before you vacuum stuff. Just plug it in and start vacuuming...you don't have to fight with the Harmony, just lead it like a willing dance partner.

If this were a perfect world, and money were no object, I guess my only "wish" would be for an old school woven-fabric over coil hose. I just don't like the feel of plastic hoses, even though they weigh nothing, relatively. Also, I would have liked a slightly more robust horsehair brush. Maybe Electrolux could offer an upgrade for people who are into those sorts of things?

In any event, I (obviously) couldn't be any more pleased. This vacuum is terrific - I can't imagine why anyone wouldn't be thrilled with the Electrolux Harmony.

Seals regular Mason jars correctly over 90% of the time. I use 2 lids, then remove the top one (which will be loose) after sealing. In the rare case when the jar does not seal the first time, you can tell immediately because the lid will not have "popped in." Mostly, this is the result of not having the first lid properly positioned, or because the soft gasket material on the lid is dried out. A light film of water will fix the latter problem.

I like the metal lids because you can confirm at any time that your jar is still sealed, simply by pressing down on the lid to make sure it has not popped up.

This jar sealer, along with regular Mason jars, is a much better system than the special Foodsaver canisters.

You need to be aware that this jar sealer attachment does not include the hose you'll need (at lease mine did not).

I would definitely buy this item again.
I have owned a Food Saver jar sealer for wide mouth jars for many years. It works like a champ every time. This one works less than 10% of the time.
I've been very excited about using my foodsaver, but it only came with the wide-mouth jar sealer. I ordered this regular mouth sealer online, and received it quickly. It has only two ridges under the lid to keep the jar lid on during sealing (the wide-mouth sealer has five). This causes rocking, and failure a lot of the time. I debated whether to return it or not, but opted to solve my own problem by inserting a paper clip as a third and fourth ridge under the sealer (between the sealer and the jar lid. Works fine! And it's not worth a return if you can do something this simple to fix the problem. Thanks, Linda Schank

This product worked for me as explained in the instructions. It has been nice to buy some things in bulk and be able to save them sealed in my mason jars. I am looking forward to growing, drying, and sealing herbs this fall.
While it should be noted that vacuum packaging is not a substitute for canning, you can keep food fresh up to 5 times longer with this method. Use your FoodSaver vacuum sealer and this lid to keep the contents of mason jars fresh longer, saving you time and money.
For those who cook large quantities of food for storage, FoodSaver vacuum packaging systems offer excellent protection against food spoilage and freezer burn. This jar sealer attachment fits on pint- and quart-sized Mason jars and is for use with any FoodSaver machine that has an accessory port. The lid forms a tight seal on Mason jars while tubing (sold separately) inserts through the top and removes air from the jar with the help of a FoodSaver machine. The jar sealer works equally as well in packaging liquid foods, such as jams, sauces, or mustard, as it does for dry goods, such as brown sugar or spices. I RECENTLY DESIGNED AND CONSTRUCTED A DUST-COLLECTION SYSTEM IN MY SHOP. I USED A COMBINATION OF "OLD-SCHOOL" HOSE CLAMPS (THE TYPE TYPICALLY SEEN IN RADIATOR HOSES), AS I ALREADY HAD A FEW OF THEM ON HAND.

I NEEDED MORE TO COMPLETE MY PROJECT AN DECIDED TO GIVE THESE A TRY. I REALLY LIKE THIS STYLE OF CLAMP AND FOUND A GREAT DEAL ON A BULK-PURCHASE OF THEM THROUGH AMAZONGrizzly H5357 10 Pack 4" Wire Hose Clamps.

These are a great clamp but you can buy them for half the price at many other places.
Um, its a clamp. It holds things tight. Sorry I can't really write a paragraph on a hose clamp. It does what its supposed to do, and it does it well.
I used a whole lot of these when I set up my dust collection system, and I can say that the hype is justified. These thin metal clamps slip between the ridges on the flex hose perfectly to create a very air-tight connection. I also appreciate the phillips head on the tightening bolt - it makes it a lot easier to crank these down quickly with a drill/driver.

A word of advice - I found these clamps to be A LOT cheaper at Menards.
I see that Amazon lowered the price back down to $1. At the time of my original review, they price was up around $4...hence the 1 star. The product itself works as advertised, so I give it 5 stars.

I've had a Fein Turbo II vacuum for several years now and I like it a bunch. But, I have never liked emptying and cleaning it, especially the hassle of cleaning the original cloth liner.

Now with this kit installed I get better filtration, excellent suction and easy emptying. The dust bag is surprisingly large. I'm sure I will end up changing it more often than I cleaned the unit before simply because it is so much easier to do. Even so, I doubt I will go through more than three or four bags per year in my use. The extra expense is worth it both for convenience and for minimizing the amount of dust in the air. I'm constantly battling with dust in my woodshop for obvious reasons. This helps!

My only complaint is that there are absolutely no instructions included with the kit. Luckily it isn't hard to figure out, but you would think that they could have tossed a simple one page instruction sheet in the box.

The Fein Turbo II (9-55-13) has received a heavy workout in my shop for years. It has handled all kinds of dust and debris, including sheetrock dust that chokes many other vacuums. The long hose provides great access and reduces the need to keep moving the vacuum. The power tool switch lets you hook the vacuum to a sander, router, or other dust-producing tool. Start the tool and it starts the vacuum.

Another great feature is the low decibel rating. Many carpenters know that the shop vacuum is the noisiest tool in the shop. Fein protects your hearing and saves you money with its great durability. This tool is bulletproof!
You may as well get this because you're going to need it if you do any kind of dust extraction at al. The cloth bag that comes with the Turbo II will simply blow all the nastiest of the small particles around your shop. I bought this kit when I bought the unit and plan to upgrade to an aftermarket HEPA filter as others have described on this site.
Hard to review something so boring, but this replacement kit does a fine job. I really don't like using bags at all but this is pretty easy to change out and it's always nice to put on a fresh filter too. Fein did a nice job with this kit and I would recommend using genuine Fein parts and accessories if you own one of their shop vacs.
This is a complete kit for converting the Turbo II vacuum to a two-stage filtration system. Remove the cloth dust bag and mount the 1 Micron filter and the dust bag to clean up smaller particulate material with the Turbo II vacuum. This kit includes everything necessary in one package. Great for work with drywall and sheet rock dust as well as other smaller particulate materials.

Only received 9 bags, instead of 36. Amazon offered a refund or 20% off... why would I pay 80% if I only received 25% of the product? So back they went.
They did look like nice bags, unfortunately I did not get a chance to use them.
Only 3 bags were shipped. Amazon requires that you return the product and re-order the 36 bags. This seems a little crazy to me - I'm supposed to order the same product again and just hope that the order will turn out right this time? Amazon, oh Amazon, why can't you give me some decent customer service and send the other 33 bags? For me, the savings here isn't worth the extra time&trouble.
On-line is becoming the best way to get vacuum bags for older vacuum cleaners, at a decent cost. So far, the quality is very good!
These bags were received lightning fast and they were exactly what I needed for my Hoover vacuum cleaner.
Great price and it even has an adhesive cover to place over the hole when the bag is full. The "stock" bag from Hoover didn't even have this. I am docking 1 star simply because the bag appears to be a few inches too tall for my model Hoover vacuum which takes "Y" bags.

It works just right for what it was made for. A little vacuum cleaner. Just be aware, it gets dirty fast.

I love my cone vac and wanted to replace the filter. I found a filter for a great price $4.00 on amazon and found out they charged me over 6.00 to ship the item standard shipping! This is a complete rip-off, the item literally weighs a few ounces and comes in a tiny box. Next time I'll buy it in the store.

If you're looking for a quality pre-amp for a reasonable price, you've gotta check out this Stereo Tube Pre-Amp from PreSonus. I use it with the C-1 large condenser mic from Studio Projects and another AKG large condenser mic. The warmth and clarity that is added by the pre-amp is amazing. Sure, you could spend a few thousand on a high end pre-amp, but that's why you go into the studio right?? I mainly use this for songwriting and demo type recordings. When I'm writing or creating a new arrangement for a song, I usually just record the trax on the go with my MacBook or in my garage on my iMac. It still gives quality and clarity which make for great sounding tracks and gives me a lot of usable material to work with throughout the recording process. I highly recommend this unit for anyone with a home or mobile studio.

(Great quiet air purifier)

Some of the online specs are misleading. The Blueair 403 unit (at least the one I received) actually has 4 speeds, just like the Blueair 402! Even the manufacturer's own website as of this review lists it as having only 3 speeds. The only difference between the 402 and 403 is that the 403 comes with a small electronic timer that is magnetic (you can put it on your refrigerator or on the Blueair unit itself) which shows you when 6 months are up and it's time to replace the filter. This is handy, but not really needed. So, if you can still find a 402 (now discontinued) for a good price, I'd recommend you grab it!

This is a great unit but it is a bit larger than I expected. If you have a small bedroom or office, it may look a bit imposing. It runs very quiet at the two lowest settings and even at the third setting, I found the sound soothing enough to sleep with. In fact, the first night I had it, I put it on the 3 speed setting and found the sound quiet nice and relaxing.

It works very well and is more efficient and quieter than smaller units. The design is also more proven; I compared it with a smaller unit (the 250E) and the 403 works a lot better for a number of reasons (better filter, it pre-charges the particles so that they stick to the filter, and has a larger, thicker filter). The 403 also has a deeper, more soothing and relaxing sound than the smaller unit. Because of the design, you can put things like books on top of it if you want to since it takes in and outputs air from the sides. You can also place it against a wall, something you cannot really do with the smaller 250E unit as it has the filter on the back and outputs air out the top. Also, larger units like the 500 series output air out the top (and sides) so you would not be able to put something on top of those either. I'm not saying I would use my Blueair 403 as a bookshelf or anything, just that it can be convenient to place a magazine or book or two on the top surface at times.

I will now buy a second 403 unit for my living room because I am so impressed. Having two or more of the same series in different rooms throughout the house seems a benefit as you only have one type of filter to buy for them all. However, if your living room is on the large side, you may need a larger unit (such as the 500 series so check your square footage).

All in all, this is a great unit as it performs very well is *very* quiet and well made. I feel I sleep much better with this unit on and also have much less allergy symptoms including less red and itchy eyes. Even if you don't suffer from allergies, you can still benefit from having nice fresh air all the time. My guess is that you will sleep better and feel more rested when you wake up. As for myself, the Blueair has practically been a lifesaver-I feel a lot more healthy and my allergy symptoms are virtually gone!
