I really like this one, but the screen leaks and we get quite a few grounds in our coffee. (Love it!) 『I don't review stuff. I usually don't feel I have anything useful to say about a product. Either it works or it doesn't, and usually by the time I get to it everything has been said. But here I am compelled to write a review for the Thermos Nissan press.
I am a long time Bodum press user. But up until now I had either tolerated the company coffee or brought my own tea for my morning caffeine fix. However when starting my current job I decided I had had enough. I didn't want to bring a glass press into the office. I've had a hard enough time keeping the beaker from breaking at home, I'd have it broken in a week in the office. So after some research I ordered this press.
While I bought this for work, I have taken to bringing it home on the weekends to wash it better than I can at the office. But instead of washing it and leaving it sit to bring back to work, I use it at home, leaving my Bodum sitting on the shelf. Why? Well, it keeps the coffee hot longer. Simple. Yep, I'm sure I could find a more expensive press that does it better, but for my couple of cups of coffee this offers great heat retention.
One of the negative things I have read about this press is that it leaves a lot of grinds behind. I have found that if you don't fill it above the "lip" at the top this doesn't happen. If you do, the grinds get stuck in that lip and the grinds get around the filter.
In the end, sorry Bodum. Our days are gone. This press is my coffee maker of choice.』
(It doesn't do the most important thing...) 『You can make perfect coffee in any pot or kettle. What's needed in a good press is a durable filter that will not allow the grounds through. The filter in this press appears very durable, but it's a terrible design. It simply will not hold the grounds back. From the first pot and every pot since, mine has allowed about a tablespoon of coarse grounds through edges of the screen. I have to pour the coffee through a permanent coffee filter before I can drink it. I sometimes wonder why I even bother to use the press. It would be just as easy to boil water in a pan, add grounds, let sit for 4-6 minutes and then pour through the coffee filter.
As for keeping the coffee warm, why would anyone let it sit in the press with the grounds for an extended time period. The object of using the press is to brew the pot for a certain time length and then pour off the perfectly brewed coffee, separating it from the grounds.
My last press (bonjour) had a great filter, but it was not durable, the one before that (bodum) that glass container broke, this one can't keep the grounds out of the coffee. I guess the search goes on for a press that does everything right. Either that or just resort to using a kettle and permanent coffee filter.

I tried it today....and well, I'm a little obsessed! Last winter I had 2 very sick kitties (who have since passed away) that defecated on my light colored berber carpet and though I've cleaned it and cleaned it, I still had stains...today, I thought maybe the Zorb would help.....let me just say that it has surpassed my expectations. The stains are barely noticeable now!!! I will still steam clean occasionally, but considering these are older stains that wouldn't budge, I must say again....I am hugely impressed. I tried it on a newer stain left by another kitty who had a bad hairball the other day and it is gone!! I went over it twice with the Zorb, groomed it in, waited the 30 minutes each time and vacuumed each time....it's gone! I'm in love with this stuff! I have to get more! And, I do have terrible allergies, but this didn't bother me at all...and my house smells great!』

The carpet had been ground down to a texture that seemed more like solid plastic than carpet. I had tried carpet cleaners at various times but nothing seemed to work. I would have had to pay the apartment complex a lot of money to replace the carpet if I couldnt find a way to fix it. I spread Zorb on the carpet and really worked it in, waited until it dried and vacuumed it up and WOW! The carpet wasn't perfect but it really took the years off. The color of the light colored carpet returned almost to its original hue and whats more amazing is that the texture of the carpet actually improved! It felt so soft and all the little bristles of the carpet were standing up again like it hadn't had years of being stamped down flat. If I had used this every month or so as carpet maintenance from the beginning I would have kept the carpet looking brand new. Whenever I've used it since then I've always been happy with the result. (Kick-butt toy vacuum!) 『My three-year-old son has been infatuated with this vacuum since last Christmas. It looks and sounds real, giving our vacuum a break!
Parts do fall off easily and get lost. The battery cover is poorly designed. After falling off several times the secure-screw went missing. (Do you think a large dog would eat such a thing? lol) Afterwards any tape worked for a little while then failed. The batteries would wiggle just enough to dislodge. The screw is a very specific size and hard to match. Today, thank God, I finally found a screw to fit! My three-year-old screamed with joy as his beloved vacuum powered up!
My second issue is the 2-piece attached hose that runs from side to side on the vacuum back, connecting at the bottom. The hose is too loose to stay attached by the small curved plastic holder towards the top. As the hose continually falls off the vacuum, it detaches in two pieces causing my son to have a meltdown. It is easy enough to reattach the hoses but annoying just the same.
The price for this has increased. Last Christmas we paid under $40. Everywhere I checked had prices very close. Regardless, I would purchase this vacuum over again in a heartbeat if only for the peacefully moments our son enthusiastically plays with it. Ten months after receiving his vacuum, our son loves it more than last Christmas!

(Mine works Great) 『For the reviewers that complained that they needed to go back to the vac to manually turn off the unit when using the"on-demand"feature, you need to return the unit to be repaired. My vac works perfectly when using the on demand feature. It has a delay of about 6 or 7 seconds before shutting off. This delay is a built in feature that allows the hose to clear itself before shutting down. I think most of the problems mentioned in the reviews have come from not reading the instructions (I must admit, I'm guilty of this myself from time to time). As far as clogging, all vacs with and 1 1/2"hose will clog from wood chips. I invested in the larger hoses that amazon offers, and they fit perfectly into the vac intake. As far as the tool end connection to the hose, this is where good old yankee ingenuity will help. There are rubber fittings available that are"stepped"in size to accomadate different diameter connections, this item doesn't work on all connections, but most. I did have to have the on-demand switch replaced after about 9 months of use (reason for the 4 stars), but other than that this vac has performed extremely well. My main use of the vac is dust collection while being attached to my Bosch orbital sander. It picks up about 95% of the dust, which is a huge improvement over using the attached cloth bags that come with some sanders. I have several of my shop power tools pre-fitted with vac hoses, and simply wheel the vac from tool to tool when needed. This vac is a great alternative to investing in a dust collection system, and all that goes with it, when you don't have the room or the budget.』
(This vacuum sucks--and not in a good way!) 『I bought this vacuum for use in my garage. I do little DIY jobs here and there, and I'm trying to get into woodworking, so I needed a vac to clean up the sawdust and miscellaneous mess. I looked at reviews on vacuums in woodworking magazines, but couldn't justify paying for the super high dollar vacs. Also, my father had a Shop-Vac while I was growing up that worked fine, so I didn't think I could go too wrong. But I was mistaken. This is an expensive unit, and one of its draws is the auto function that allows you to plug a power tool into it and have the vac turn on when you fire up the tool. That part works. But it doesn't shut itself off when you turn off the sander, saw, etc. When you have to fumble for the vac power switch after using the tool, I'm not sure you've saved yourself a whole lot by not having to fumble for it right before using it. But this is not my biggest gripe. The biggest problem with this vac is it has little power and is easily clogged up. The other day I spilled some granulated lawn fertilizer on my garage floor. When I went to vacuum it up, this Shop-Vac sucked it up--but only as far as the hose; the fertilizer never made it to the vacuum. I had to detach the hose and empty the fertilizer out into a gargage can. Afterwards I went around my shop vacuuming up sawdust and small debris. I could go about two minutes between having to pull apart the hose extensions or pull the hose straight to dislodge small (about 3/4") wood chips that had plugged up the vac. This Shop-Vac has only worked for me when I was vacuuming up dry sawdust containing absolutely no woodchips, no matter how small. Even then the attachments seem more suited for cleaning out the crevices in the seats of a car than for vacuuming up sawdust coating a garage floor. The vacuum's power cord is long, which could be a benefit, but I find it too long for use in my 1-1/2 car garage; the vac just trips up over its own cord. The vacuum hose also is long, but readily coils up, pinching off the vacuum and killing off the suction. The hose is also inconvenient to store on the vac itself. Also, I think a larger diameter hose might be a big improvement, but then I would think the vac would need more power to accommodate. This has been a big disappointment, unlike some other tools I have obtained for my shop, such as my Porter-Cable circular saw and DeWalt router combo kit. It's bad enough that this tool doesn't work very well; it's made only worse that it cost so much to boot.』
(Best Damn Shop Vac) 『I purchased one of the Model 925-63"On Demand"Shop Vac's about 4 years ago,and the only problem I'm having is getting a replacment 12' foot hose like the one that came with the unit. I originally purchased it from Lowes Center, and the replacment hoses they stock, won't work on my planer or sanders. Would someone please tell me where I can get one. The repair center in my home town can't get one for me either. The only other problem I've had, is with an on demand switch that went bad early on, but the repair center replaced it under warranty, and all is well. I would highly recommend to any woodworker the purchase of this Shop Vac Unit,as it does a very good job, when using it with a sander/planer thru the vac hose system,and the vac unit being controlled via hand tools on/off switch. It does a very good job when in normal Shop Vac usage, sweeping the floors,walls,etc,etc.Vacuuming operations is very compariable to the High Dollar Vac units that sell for 2-3 times the amount of the Model 925-63. P.S. add a Dry Wall Filter Bag,and a secondary Hepa Filter to the unit,and you there isn't another Shop Vac Unit to compare for the Monies invested.』

It also falls over when using an extension hose. I had my husband build a wood base to put it in while in use or stored, so it would be more stable.

But the plastic hinge inside to hold the filter is very weak and easy to break. It broke after maybe just a month. (all 3 hinges broken- I didn't drop it) I don't think it's replaceable. It attached with the vacuum side. The only thing you can do if you don't want buy a new one. TAPE IT, that's what I did.』

(Planned obsolescence - better to go back to a dustpan and cloth) 『This is the high-end DustBuster, but neither its lifespan nor its effectiveness would justify the energy it uses unless you have a disability, such as a sprained wrist or elbow, that would prevent you from using a dustpan. In its favor, I will say that fully charged, this mini-vac has all the power that a regular Dustbuster ought to have but doesn't. The problem is that it does not remain fully charged very long. After you've owned it for several months, recharging it in its cradle no longer works very well anymore. Yes, it wil still run well for about the first 20 seconds of use, but the power begins dwindling down at that point and after about two minutes it is gasping to stay alive. Back to the recharger it goes. And this situation occurs even though I keep all the filters and lint traps totally clean. This DustBuster -- and all the others as well -- lacks a soft chamois-type fuzzy attachment for wide wooden blinds and a dial to determine how much suction you would like to use. It lacks a stick-on 10-inch arm with a downspout, so, cleaning dust off books in your shelves is impossible. With no power dial, cleaning lint off decorative drapes is out. The DustBuster sucks the fabric up against the air intake, and prevents you from using it further. But its biggest fault is its battery. This is the second of its kind that I have bought. NOT BECAUSE I LIKE THE PRODUCT, but because once you mount the base onto the wall of your service porch, if you have wallpaper there, as I do, and you buy a unit in another style, you still have the footprint of the old unit on the wall along with all the ugly holes drilled through the wallpaper. You're supposed to be able to recharge the battery and leave the unit resting in the cradle. That works for about six months. (On the regular DustBusters it worked for about six weeks.) Then, you need a whole new unit. Why? BECAUSE YOU CANNOT GET REPLACEMENT BATTERIES FOR IT!!! OR FOR THE OTHER UNITS EITHER! YOU HAVE TO BUY THE WHOLE M-Fing UNIT ALL OVER AGAIN. And you'd better get one exactly the same or you've ruined your wall. Heaven forbid if the manufacturers change the footprint, and that could easily happen. Why mount it at all? Because if you live in a small house, or city apartment, then your shelf space is at a premium and you do not want to have a zillion cords dangling all over everything. Maybe the best thing is to go back to using a dust pan and a handbroom, or a dustcloth. Gee. What a concept. Powered by human energy. Amazing. I wasn't sure that was a viable option anymore.』

To clean it, you need to blow it with compressed air, making a huge cloud of dust. If you tap it as suggested you still get a huge mess of dust and it doesn't come clean. I tried it all three ways and decided to pay the price for the inside bag which catches most of the stuff being vacuumed.』
