I wore out the scrubber brushes and sometimes left cleaner in the tanks and the gasket wore out in the cleaner tank. So abuse did occur.......I love this machine and have looked high and low for it in the stores to no avail. I have very wide grout on my 450 sq. foot kitchen/family area and my grout is my nemesis. This machine sucks up the dirty water, not leaving in the grout to stain and stay dirty. From mopping, steaming ect. everything left that dirty water on the grout. Even if I changed my mop bucket over and over, I still had that dirty water sitting in my grout making it dirty. Not w/ the Floormate-because it scrubs the grout, sucks up all that dirty water, it does not sit on the grout. You will be completely amazed at the dirty water you pour out. I have used vinegar and water and other cleaners too, sometimes just water. I am so excited about the on board tools they have now-get those hard to reach spots. My wood floors have done fine w/ it too. I don't have carpet in my home-just 3 area rugs so you can see why I love this. My floors feel grungy since I have not had one to use and been mopping and dumping my bucket ect. I am so excited I found it, so I can get a new one, why is it not available in most regular stores?????? I have owned this for 3 months and the suction stopped....My complaint is w. Hoover customer service. A certified service repair was 2-3 hours of round trip driving ( oneway). A previous customer service person was 10 min. from my house discontinued his services w/ Hoover because they would never pay him for warrantied repairs. Now if you want great service...iRobt will pay to have items returned for a new replacement.So I dont think Amazon will back us up.... looking into that because I love Amazon. I enjoy using this floor cleaner very much. Having not used prior models I cannot make a comparison. I find this very easy to use... I have not used the attachments yet. I am sure I will find a use for them shortly. I especially like the wet/dry vac option. Of course, the most fun is dumping the black water when I am finished! Ewww...! Machine works OK -- go slow, use the Hoover floor and grout cleaners and be prepared to refill and empty several times on all but the really small jobs. We have over 1000sq.ft of tile and it really takes a lot of time and refills. It is amazing how much more dirt this machine picks up after a vacuuming and wet mopping. Pros: 1. It does a great job on tile floors. Much easier than a regular mop and it seems to get up more dirt. It does my kitchen floor very quickly and the floor really does seem clean afterward. Cons: 1. It does not do a great job on tough dirt spots but I think those require a hand scrubbing anyway. 2. I've noticed that it leaves streaks on the wood floors but I'm trying to figure out if it's something I'm doing wrong. 3. The attachments are more trouble than they are worth. Although they do clean in tight spots, it's a pain to clean the hose and attachments at the end. I've concluded that it is just easier to get those small spots by hand verses having to spend the time at the end cleaning the attachments. Overall, I would buy this machine again. It's the best thing out there in my opinion. And I can't say enough about how well it cleans tile foors. I did think the prices was awful low for both pieces. couldn't find them for sale in the stores anymore, and i found them on Amazon.com I couldn't help notice a wide price disparity on this item. Since this is a consume-and-dispose type item, I decided to pay Buy-It-Now's exorbitant $6.95 shipping fee and buy 3 at $1.25 each - netting me 3 for $10.70 instead of $24 at the Amazon price. Here's what happened: I received the filters promptly but with NO packaging and NO plastic cover, JUST THE FILTERS. That's fine with me since as another review pointed out, the plastic cover is quite reusable with a quick rinse and it seems pointless to replace it every time ... and the packaging just goes to the landfill after all. BOTTOM LINE is I'm happy with my purchase but this should be cataloged as two different items - the "Filter Set" at a higher price for those who want the whole package, and the Filter ONLY for people who just want the filter a-la-carte. (I'll rate it 5 stars if they fix this... the filters are just fine.) I was very happy to see this item on Amazon since this is my 3rd BD stick dust buster. This vacuum has a very slick bottom surface with curvature much like a boat. You can drag this thing all over your house with little to no resistance - whether it's on carpet, linoleum, wood, or tile. Of course you'll scratch up the bottom if you drag it on concrete, but this vacuum isn't designed for tough duty outside jobs. I've used this vacuum for over 6 months and I vacuum my entire house with it. I am totally satisfied. I originally bought it as a temporary substitute while shopping for "normal" house vacuums. However, due to all the bad ratings, I gave up on my search. That's fine because I'm happy with this little sucker. (I also have a 14 gallon wet-vac for the garage) So really folks, you truly don't need any wheels. Besides, all they'll do is get hung up on corners when you pull it around the house or make this vacuum tip over easily by changing it's center of gravity. As a last note, I agree with some that the tool holding capability is lacking. The wall bracket is nice but they could have done a much better job with tool accommodations. It has plenty of sucking power and handles all of the small jobs and vehicle clutter that is created. I love it. It is light and easy to handle. The relatively small size and the nice long hose make car cleaning a breeze. Powerful enough to use as a small shop vac too, I am still remodeling so have yet to use the storage hanger system. The product works great, but I didn't like the fact that it was supposed to be new but the accesories showed slight signs of use If everyone wishes this product had wheels, why don't you just glue some on. The wheels are available in Walmart, Kmart, Home Depot, Lowe's, just about everywhere. Or I guess you could even drill some holes and attach them with screws. It's just plastic you're drilling into. (Travel Essential) I have been a long time mechanical style Sleep Mate user. It is a little heavy and bulky for travel, however. My old digital Radio Shack noise generator that I used for travel recently fried in France. Having had good luck with Marsona in the past, I decided to try this one. The dual voltage feature has great appeal - no more need for voltage converters, a quirk of which I suspect fried my old Radio Shack model. The TSCI 330 works as advertised. I find it plenty loud for my purposes. It doesn't have a great variety of sounds, but that's fine with me. The included pitch and sound variation slide switches are adequate. As noted by some other reviewers, it doesn't have a distracting sound loop repeat that I found a little anoying on my old Radio Shack model. Instead, the sound is continuous. It's small enough for travel and simple to operate. For what it's worth, it "feels" like a quality product, and I have had good luck with Marsona in the past. So far, I'm very pleased. Marsona TSCi-330 White Noise Travel Sound Conditioner For both USA and International Use The machine worked well on our recent trip to Santo Domingo and a cruise. I use a sound conditioner at home and always select the sound of falling rain. I don't think the rain sound is very good on this machine. No where near as good as the one I use at home. Great! covers the sound of cars, pipes, toilet flushing. Light and easy to carry around. The international model allows you not to take any transformer. Excellent sound quality really fools the mind into thinking you are listening to natural effects. Improves the sleep quality even when there is very little background noise. Very good. This unit goes everywhere to mask out intrusive night noise. It is very effective for all but the loudest noises, or very low frequency noises. It is of solid construction, made in the USA. I have not opened it up, but it seems to be hand assembled, like radios and TVs of decades past. I have 2 complaints: 1-The speaker is too small. The sound range seems overly narrow due to this. An output for use by headphones or a larger amplifier would be useful. 2-The controls are in very odd, non-intuitive locations and functionality, making it seem a bit like a school science fair project box. This air purifier surpassed expectation. We've had others, including the Sharper Image nightmare of a purifier that was over $400 and died within a year.. So it was with hesitation that we ordered this unit and could not be happier. I too am surprised by the previous reviewer's comment that he has to clean it every day or so, I wonder if he has something in his house (i.e. smoke/lots of pets?) that might overload a unit. We have two cats and a large home and this purifier works wonders. I have only had to clean it once or twice a month and the occasional snap, crackle and pop are just reminders when it's time. We intend to buy more. I bought a couple of these last year for I have some health problems that require me to be in a clean air environment. These have been great they really do a good job I leave mine on highest speed all the time which is noisy but when it comes to breathing fresh air this is well worth it. It does make some snapping sounds just before you need to clean it. This just lets me know that they need cleaning. I clean my cells with Clorox clean up cleaner I just squirt them then use hot water and the job is done. the only thing is that when it comes to drying the cell before using it it takes a while but this is my only complaint I rarely write comments, but I use them for most every purchase from Amazon. Since there wasn't much here, I wanted to let everyone know my experiences with the Oreck XL air purifier. There's only one review on here so far. The guy says he had to clean his machine every day? I've had mine, for awhile now. I've gone a couple weeks to a month and a half without cleaning the cell. Actually after a little more than a month, I just cleaned it last night. All I did was run it under the faucet and it did the job. I will need to clean it with soap and water soon though. The only reason I can see this machine getting so dirty so fast like the other person says, is if it was in an oil based enviroment where the dirt would pile on and need to be scrubbed off. Just an example here: My allergies got real bad last night after I had my water heater replaced. I suppose a lot of mold was kicked around from when it had been leaking. I got up in the middle of the night and ran the cell under water, with a little brushing here and there. After letting it dry, I really noticed the difference when it started up. I then slept for hours comfortably. The con: It makes a small snapping sound when it needs to be cleaned. I use that as a reminder. It doesn't constantly make the sound. I will from time to time, then more often as it gets dirtier. It is hardly noticable to me. As for the charcoal filter. You don't need to have it. It is a plus. I haven't gotten a refill since I got my machine a long time ago. I am thinking about getting it though. A relative uses it and It makes the room feel and smell cleaner. I am in the process of buying good air purifiers, as my mother, who has chronic asthma and bronchitis, is coming to my house to visit after not seeing her for almost 3 years.(we live out of state) We have some purifiers already, but wanted to get a few better ones especially for her. After reading the review from Scott Sedei, I will definitely NOT buy this product. Popping and Snapping Sounds??? OMG!!!! Thanks for the help, Scott. When I originally reviewed this product I gave it three stars. After using the product for over a year now I would take away two of those stars if I could. I purchased three Oreck purifiers at the same time and notice very little difference in the air quality in my home. Things I like: The "silent" mode is great for sleeping (when the unit isn't popping and snapping). The design is attractive. Things I don't like: 1) The rapid popping/snapping sound (like a bug zapper) the units make when the cell starts getting dirty. As another reviewer wrote - the rapid popping scared his poor dog so badly that it wet the floor. The noise is VERY annoying. You either clean it right away or turn it off because the snapping persists until something is done. Oreck recommends thorough cell cleaning every two weeks, but between the three units I have to do "quick cleanings" on at least one of them almost every day. Quick cleaning requires pulling the main cell and running a Q-Tip over the wires in front of the collection plates. 2) The Oreck infomercial misrepresents the product; the consumer pays a healthy price for this purifier believing there will be no additional costs associated with the purchase. They advertise "No Filter Replacement" - yet there is an "optional" charcoal odor absorbing filter that does need to be replaced if the unit is used to control odors. The cost of that filter at the Oreck site is $49.99. According to my local Oreck store, the cell doesn't get real clean if only soaked in soapy water. The "optional" cell cleaner is strongly recommended to optimize the cell performance and extend the cell life. Each can of cell cleaner is $14.99. The local Oreck store recommended cleaning with cell cleaner, soaking in soapy water, and then cleaning again with more cell cleaner. 3) The collection plates in the main cell don't hold a lot of dust, and the odor absorbing filter is too small to catch much. I question how much dust is being pumped back into the air after it is "purified." *Note: Several reviewers have suggested I use the units in extreme conditions. However, I live in a very large, brand new home; I don't smoke and have two cats so the operating conditions are far from extreme. 14 MONTH UPDATE: After using the units for about 14 months, two of the three original machines I purchased died and are happily disposed of. The one remaining unit seems to be working well and actually goes weeks without popping and snapping. I no longer purchase the Oreck cell cleaner, following the advice of another reviewer I now use Clorox Cleanup. I replaced one of the failed Oreck units with a Honeywell 50250 99.97% Pure HEPA Round Air Purifier. I replaced the second failed Oreck with the Honeywell 18155 SilentComfort Permanent, True HEPA Air Purifier. They are both larger floor models that require some space, but they outperform the Oreck units in every way, and they cost less. The charcoal pre-filters cost $9.00 to $10.00 to replace and are well worth it when I see the garbage the Honeywell pulls out of the air.
