We have city (hard) water, but I decided to use it instead of distilled water due to cost. I use tap water right out of our heated spout (for tea) and plug the mop in and go. I mop weekly, and all was well until about a month ago. I accidentally left water in the mop container, haven't mopped in 3-4 weeks, (back to school busy)and PHEW!! Mildew grew in the filter and the whole house STUNK like mildew when I used the mop. But the filter has lasted 6 months. But when they say "Empty out the water between moppings", FOLLOW DIRECTIONS!! Oh, and my mop heads are wearing out. I, too have ceramic tile (HATE IT!!!!)and the rough grout wears out the pad. Steam cleaner doesn't clean the grout well, by the way....I have to be satisfied that I steamed it, so it's sanitary, if not pretty.』

(Great product) 『This check valve is a totally reliable and durable product, and it's worth every penny to know that you don't have to worry about back-flow issues. I just bought a new check valve along with a new sump pump, but to be honest, I could have kept using the 10 year old Zoeller check valve on the old pump. They recommend replacing the check valve any time you replace a pump, but these things last forever!』

Each end of this valve has a stepped outside diameter; 1.25" on the end, and 1.50" next to the valve body; refer to the Customer Images. It comes with two rubber adapters and four stainless steel clamps. The adapters convert 1.25" to 1.5" or vice-versa. The 1.5" adapter end will slip over a 1.5" PVC pipe, and 1.25" will slip over a 1.25" PVC pipe. In other words, using the supplied rubber adapters, either end can be configured to 1.25" or 1.5".
It's easy to connect this device using a clamp screw. To remove the device, or slip one end off a pipe, loosen one of the clamp screws and slide the pipe out; hence "union" in the name. This feature allows removal of the sump pump for service or replacement, without cutting any pipe.
This is a full flow check valve, unlike some models at my local Lowes or Home Depot, which partially restrict flow. When a sump pump comes on, the valve flap swings completely out of the way, to allow maximum flow. When the pump stops, the flap closes to stop water from going toward the pump. The rubber seal part of the flap will eventually leak, I suppose, but there is so little pressure on it when it's closed, that it should last a very long time.
Sump pumps should be installed with a check valve within the sump basin. When the pump shuts off, if you don't have a check valve, all water still in your exit pipe that's higher than the pump, will flow back into the basin. Otherwise, the only water that will flow backward into the basin is the small volume of water between the pump and the check valve.

DID A INTERNET SEARCH AND VO-LA AND AMAZON HAD IT AT LESS THEN HALF PRICE WITH A QUICK DELIVERY. GOT IT IN A COUPLE OF DAYS AND OTHER THAN HAVEING TO GET TO THE BACK SIDES OF MY NEW LG CLOTHES WASHER AND DRYER TO ATTACH THE TRANSMETERS IT WAS JUST A SNAP TO FINISH THE INSTALATION. WORKS GREAT AND MONITERS BOTH MACHINES AT ONCE. YOU KNOW WHAT CYCLE THEY ARE IN AS WELL AS MINUTES REMAINING TILL SHUT DOWN. THE DISPLAY LOOKS GREAT IN COLOR. THE ONLY THING I WOULD ADD IS AN AUDIO SIGNAL THAT WOULD ALERT YOU OF A MACHINE FINISHING OPERATION. A GREAT ACCESSORY TO MONITOR YOUR MACHINES FROM ANOTHER PART OF YOUR HOUSE. COULD NOT DO WITHOUT IT NOW.』
(Handy Product) 『LG makes some innovative products. This monitor works with their SteamWasher and SteamDryer among others. It conveniently shows the remaining time for the wash/dry cycle.
Installation is a breeze: remove two screws for each unit, plug in MODEM(s), re-install screws, turn on units and sync the monitor. The only tricky part is gaining access to the back for installation.
The monitor comes complete with two MODEMs, wall-mount plate and table stand, and laundry monitor. Nothing else is needed. It even includes the wall-mount plate screws.
The display is well illuminated. The washer cycle is in blue while the dryer cycle is in red. The remaining time is in large green digits, easily readable across a 15 foot room. The case has a simple but nice look. If there's anything to complain about, it's the power cord coming out the bottom center of the unit. Then again, there's probably no place to otherwise conceal it. The retail price is a little high.
The monitor automatically turns on when it detects a wash or dry cycle, and it turns off when complete. I plugged it in on the opposite end of the house and had no problems. We also have a home automation (X-10) system and there is no conflict with it.
All-in-all, it's a nice addition to the laundry set. It may not be essential but is very worthwhile especially if the laundry is far from other activity centers. 』

The Laundry Monitor reports the minute to minute status of your Washer or Dryer (defaulting to the Dryer if both are running) and allows you to chose Washer or Dryer reports, as well as beeps when a machine has "ended". It is not without its problems, but LG has stood behind this product as needed. I usually throw a problem appliance overboard after one issue; this one failed twice and was replaced twice, but I would BUY a replacement if I had to because I wouldn't live without this LG Laundry Remote.』 『
