I use it twice a week to clean my little 1 bedroom apartment. It's actually not bad on carpet, as long as the carpet is not super dirty. Very handy. it is a great small vacuum cleaner - for hard floors. as many other reviewers put it, it is not the best one for carpets. but it's very powerful for its size I bought this machine based upon some online reviews I found. The reviews indicated that the machine would not be a good choice for carpet, but that it was a great value if you planned on just using it for hard floors. Since my whole first floor is hardwood, I thought this might be a good, inexpensive machine to use on the floors instead of sweeping and I could use my upright for the rugs. The machine ended up being far cheaper than the picture or reviews seemed to indicate. While the suction is good on the machine, the wand keeps coming apart (it is simply two plastic tubes jammed together) and it is awkward to use. The handle is in a bad place to carry the machine. Everytime I pick it up to drag it out of the closet, I have to juggle the wand and the machine and usually the wand ends up coming apart again and I'm left cussing. The cord is also fairly short as well as the hose connected to the wand. You are forced to carefully move the canister around repeatedly, and if you pull too hard on the hose while vacuuming, it ends up rolling onto its back, which is bad, since this is where the exhaust comes out. So you have to stop, and resituate it. I would return it, but Amazon's policy will only give me 50% back, plus I'd have to pay for shipping. I guess I'll keep it as a back-up to whatever real canister vacuum I end up getting. I would highly advise that you save the money you would spend on this machine and put it towards something that is more useable. First use, it was working for 10 minutes, then it stopped turning. I was under the 5 LB food limit, so it doesn't make sense. Okay, I tasted the meat after cooking and it was not better than a plastic bag marinade. Please, please, do not purchase this. I purchased the food tumbler to use in BBQ contests. I wanted to tumble and marinade the meat in a vacuum to attmept to get more flavor from the meat. It tumbles like a champ, but the marinade did not seem to penetrate any deeper than just using a ziplock bag. I am going to make my marinade thinner to see if this helps. I purchased this product based on the many reviews here on Amazons website. And let me tell you, they were right. The MariVac does a fantastic job, and takes your bbq'ing to the next level. So far I have done chicken, steak and salmon in the MariVac and all have received excellent reviews from those that ate them. I would definitely recommend this product to anyone looking to get better flavor from their meats/fish. Reading the reviews, I see that most of this has already been said by other fans of the Reveo tumbler, so I'll just add my mega-kudos for this appliance. I've used it frequently over the last couple of years and it's remained trouble-free. The flavor and tenderness of steaks prepared with the Reveo beats those of a famous local steakhouse that uses above-prime beef grilled over an open fire of seasoned tamarack. How did I ever live without this?!? My one and only complaint is that the dry rubs that are included with the tumbler are no longer available as refills. I used to purchase them online, but now I can't find them anywhere. Bummer, because they were pretty darn good too. I originally purchased a Reveo Mari-Vac about 2 1/2 years ago and it was one of the best purchases I ever made. I liked it so much I bought one for my bachelor sons to use at their apartment. One great feature is the marinating time. I usually marinate my chicken, beef or pork about 1/2 before I am ready to cook it and it tastes like it has been marinating overnight. Not being really organized, I wind out taking something out of the freezer in the AM and it doesn't ususally thaw until late afternoon. I put the food in the Mari-Vac and 20 minutes later it is readly to go. Unfortuantely last month the rotation section of it stopped working. I could still marinate but it would not tumble. Not the worst thing to happen but I bought another one. The only thing I don't like about it is the way that it opens up after the marinating is done. The lever to release the cover is very small and if you don't have good strength in your hand or wrist, it is diffiuclt to open. This results in me putting off buying them because of the hassle. These bags, however, are cheap and super easy to order! They're an off-brand, but seem to work just as well as the actual Kenmore ones. Plus, I ordered them using two-day shipping (I have Amazon Prime), and they showed up the next day, which was nice. After reading the reviews on this website, I decided to go with these bags instead of the Kenmore originals. These are much less expensive, and just as good. (A fresh breath for your power tools) (The perfect hose for my Porter Cable router) I bought this hose to adapt my Porter-Cable 894PK 2-1/4 HP GripVac Base, Plunge Base Kit to my shop vac. The hose itself is made of quality materials. It has a nice balance of flexibility and strength. I also like the generous length. To get the hose to connect to my shop vac hose (which is the larger 2" size, I don't know the exact measurement) I had to buy another adapter called a universal adapter Shop-Vac Universal Tool Adapter #906-87-00. You cut the universal adapter to fit your equipment. The large end fits a standard 2" shop vac hose, then other end steps down several times to fit different things. In actual use, I made a pleasant discovery. In normal use of the #39332 hose on my Port-Cable router and my Port-Cable biscuit joiner, the small end goes on the power tool and the large end goes on the outside of my universal adapter to the vacuum. If I turn the hose around and put the small end INSIDE the universal adapter, the large end fits on the dust collection bag fitting on my DeWalt sliding miter saw. Trying to find just the right small hose hookup for your orbital sanders and plate jointers is not as easy as you think. This hose fits perfect to the tools on one end and to my Oneida "Dust Deputy" on the other. I have owned this hose for about six years now. It does an excellent job of catching dust from the 1-inch fitting on many of my Porter Cable tools. I had used a Porter Cable sander with one at a friends, and was so impressed with how much better it caught the dust than my sander, I bought a new Porter Cable sander, that came with the hose, and sold my old sander on ebay. I had a "Mr. Nozzle" hose on my shop vac when I bought my sander, and the Porter Cable hose hooked up to it with no problems. (The "Mr. Nozzle" hose is a lot better than the standard hose that comes with the shop vacuums, and is well worth the money it costs. It flexes better, and is a lot more durable.) It is sturdy and flexible. It fits all my porter cable power tool with dust port (routers,sanders). Its length is conveniant and allow me to run the hose all the way to the ceiling and down to my workbench. Slightest bit of moisture makes the bag break. Creates a mess. I purchased a new Contractor-grade 16-gallon Shop Vac for a big drywall dust clean-up job (to clean up my new 2400 sq. foot house that is being built), and wanted something that would do the job without clogging the vacuum filter and/or motor or spewing dust back into the air. I have destroyed vacuums in the past by sucking up drywall dust, and didn't want to see a brand new $140 Shop Vac bite the dust, no pun intended. The high efficiency Shop Vac bag seemed like a great option, especially because drywall dust clings to everything, and figured that I would go through multiple HEPA filters (if I opted not to use a collection bag) to clean up an entire house full of drywall dust. The bottom line is that these "high efficiency" bags by Shop Vac are simply outstanding. After sucking over 40 lbs of drywall dust into this bag, I hardly noticed any loss of suction from the Shop Vac, and absolutely NO drywall dust made it onto the HEPA filter. There was also NO dust inside the canister - the inside of the canister didn't have a single spec of dust after 3 solid hours of vacuuming! These bags stop the drywall dust in its tracks, I would estimate that 97-99% of the dust is filtered by the bag itself. One bag was enough to take care of the entire 2400 sq. ft. house (covered in drywall dust), without stressing the Shop Vac motor. I now use these bags for everything, even general cleaning of dry debris, as the bags keep the Shop Vac filters in superb shape and are very easy to remove and toss in the trash once full. You can fill these bags to the brim without your Shop Vac losing suction power, and won't need to worry about changing your filter out every few weeks, even from messy jobs. The bags are expensive, but WORTH it. If you use your Shop Vac sporadically for general clean up of dry debris (sawdust, dirt, drywall dust, etc.), 1 bag should last you several months, and you'll save $$ in not having to replace your cartridge filters. 1 cartridge HEPA filter costs as much as 2 bags. I'm a chimney sweep and I have modified every vac I've owned to use these bags. I need a vac that moves more than 350 cubic feet a minute to control dust. Shop Vacs don't even move 200, so I've never owned a Shop Vac. However I also need to filter down to less than .4 microns. Every other bag I've tried failed, usually from split seams, because of the stress my vacs place on them. Not these bags! Also they don't plug up and cause lost suction before they're full like other bags do. I purchased a pack of these filters to try out. The cost seemed a little steep to me for a paper filter but the idea of trapping drywall dust was worth the try. I purchased a Porter Cable drywall sander and wanted to use it with my Shop Vac instead of buying the Porter Cable unit made to accompany the sander. I figured that with the disposable bags my Shop Vac unit should work. If not, I'm out the cost of the bags. I did a little test. Working in an office (with employees at their desks), I wiped down a file cabinet that was close by. I began sanding a new drywall section near the cabinet. To say the least... I was amazed. NO DUST residue on the file cabinet using these filter bags. In the past, sanding drywall by hand on small jobs (one or two walls), I would sweep up the bulk of dust (creating a cloud) and then vac the remaining. The filter would do its job but clogged rapidly. I got in the habit of bringing two or three backup filters to the job and then take the dirty filters home to wash with a garden hose. This whole process is Very time consuming and messy. The high efficiency dust bags keep about 95% (my guess) of the dust from reaching the hepa filter. I completely loaded the bag after sanding five rooms with the Porter Cable 7800. When I lifted the vac, I was surprised at how heavy it was. I easily captured a 60 pound bucket of joint compound. More impressive was the fact the filter stayed clean and so did that file cabinet I mentioned earlier. Not one complaint about dust in the office which is even more amazing when you consider "the one in every crowd" person that would complain about something! I am more than pleased with the collection bags. They saved me time and money not only on the job, but also in me not having to spend several hundred dollars on a dedicated vac for my drywall sander. The little thing roars, scares the dog, and falls over occasionally. Kinda reminds me of one of my relatives. I gave it 3 stars because it works well, takes very little space to store, the dust dealie is easy to empty and I like the red color. If I had to do it again I wouldn't, that said I threw away the box and receipt in a fit of efficiency so I'm stuck with it. I bought the Power Stick to have something quick to get the dog hair from my kitchen floor. The dogs are shedding and I didnt want to drag out my big vac all the time. Sweeping didnt help since the hair drifted under the fridge and stove. The first time I turned on the Power Stick I was impressed at the suction and began to clean my floor. To my dismay the exhaust blew the hair and dust across the room and under my stove and fridge in a split second. You would have to be very careful which direction you began to vacuum a floor because of this. I wrote the company to bring this to their attention, NOT to ask for a refund. I got an e-mail back stating they did not give refunds and they never mentioned my complaint. I was very disappointed in their reaction and I doubt I will buy any Dirt Devil products in the future. The vacuum really is noisy. I wear ear plugs when I use it because it is so loud and the noise actually gets painful in narrow halls. I refuse to use it when my dog is in the house and eventually I will have to get a quieter vacuum. For now, though, I like that the vacuum is lightweight, easy to maneuver and picks up the dog hairs and the daily debris. This beast seemed to vaccuum reasonably well, but was outrageously noisy - so much so that I was concerned that it would cause hearing damage. I immediately packed this puppy up and returned it. This small sweeper has excellent power. The only problem is the wind effect that actually spreads dust around while you are trying to pick it up.
