『I was thinking to take my Wii to India and was skeptical about the standard voltage converters available there. Moreover I don't like the humming sounds they make sometime to started searching for a replacable Wii adaptor.

『4 reasons to buy this controller.

1. 6th generation support (access to the entire GameCube library)
One of the greatest features of 7th generation consoles is the ability to play 6th generation console games and if you bought a Wii when it was first released or your buying a Wii today you can play all GameCube games. The same cannot be said for the PlayStation 3 (slim removed PlayStation 2 support) or XBox 360 (only supports some XBox 1 games).

2. Price
4 of these controllers will set you back for less than the cost of 1 Wiimote, 1 Numchuk, and 1 Classic Controller or Wii Motion Plus and none of these items will allow you to play GameCube games plus you've only added one extra Wii player for 4 players you still have more to buy. However, with GameCube controllers, and not all Wii games support GameCube controllers but for the ones that do (SSBB and TMNT Smash-Up), you can use a combination of Wiimotes and GameCube controllers for 4 player fun!

If you buy 4 of these controllers you're ready for some of the best party games the GameCube had to offer including SSBM, Super Monkey Ball 1&2, and Mario Kart Double Dash to name a few.

3. Quality
I've used 3rd party controllers in the past for SNES, Genesis, and the PlayStation 1 and the overall experience had not been good. In fact, I almost swore off 3rd party controllers completely. Button layouts are awkward, mushy D-pads and buttons, and life span are almost always an issue. In this case Thrustmaster has built a solid controller with solid buttons, analog sticks feel right, and every extra feature you could imagine including slow motion, turbo, button remapping on the fly, rumble support, and they're wireless.

Some people have mentioned that these controllers are a bit small and as a result the buttons are a bit tight. I hear that however, the same could be said for the Wii Classic Controller and even though I do accidentally hit the turbo button from time to time I'm sure this will stop with extended use and in my kids small hands they never have this issue.

4. Wireless
One of the Wiimote's best features, aside from the motion control, is wireless freedom so why would you step 10 years into the past and purchase wired controllers. Personally I didn't own a GameCube (at the time DVD support was more important to me) so I do not have any allegiance to the Wavebird in particular the wireless sort. The original Nintendo Wireless Wavebird is the only other controller I'd consider in comparison to this controller. That said, the wireless Wavebird is out of production so they're hard to find and usually over priced, the button layout differs completely when compared to the Wii Classic Controller, and does not support additional features such as slow motion, turbo, and button remapping on the fly.

Obviously, I'm very happy with this controller (I own several) and I'd highly recommend them to anyone with a Wii interested in playing GameCube games and looking for a wireless solution.』

(Controller function)

『The function on this controller is great. I have had ZERO problems with it. I bought it to use on my Nintendo Wii to download some Virtual Console games. I used it to play "Metroid" from the original 8-bit Nintendo system and it worked as well as I remember the wired controller working 20 years ago. The only thing you need to worry about is sometimes when the action gets tough you might accidentally hit the "map button" feature. If this happens you just pause the game and turn off the controller and then back on again and it is fine.』

(Good hardware, lousy user interface, and tip on getting Port Forwarding to work)

『The hardware is good, but the web user interface is confusing. The printed manual is worthless, and Planex web site is as unhelpful. I could setup my wireless network with relative ease, but when I tried to configure port forwarding, I hit a wall. After a fruitless day wrestling with the box, I wrote Planex customer support for help. I got a response within the week, which is decent, considering that I had expected no response at all. Unfortunately the rep could not solve my problem.

I finally figure it out: to get port forwarding to work, you need to check the box "Change MAC address enable" under Network/WAN Setup/DHCP. The box has 2 MAC addresses: one for the Wi-Fi side, and another one for the WAN side. You need to clone the WAN MAC address to the Wi-Fi side.

Once I get over the mad user interface, I find that this wireless router is quite good. It is hard to beat the $60 price for a 3 by 3 802.11n wireless router like this one. The wireless connection is solid; I have not suffered any stability issues. I used to get a weak signal (30%) in my living room using my old Netgear 802.11g router, but with this one I get a strong signal (85%).』

(Great hardware, poor firmware)

『I bought this to replace my seasoned WRT54GL. I don't own other wireless-N devices yet but thought to start gradually upgrading with this. What a mistake. The hardware specs sound impressive: 400 MHz CPU, plenty of flash and RAM, Linux 2.6-based. But that doesn't count for much when the firmware is not up to the job, and yes, I used the latest version from the vendor. After spending days getting even the most simplistic setups to work I have given up for now. One time I had a wireless network running but the bits seemed to be hand-carried by little flying monkeys, it was that slow: Compliments of the "40 Mhz bandwidth" option - use 20 MHz instead and the wireless becomes stable and reasonably fast. No explanation for these options anywhere. There are many other trial-and-error options that you have to play with to get somewhat satisfactory results. In the end I had a wireless-G (only) network running that worked ok for web browsing, but anything else was flaky, even on those machines connected to the LAN, not using wireless: Inexplicable delays when accessing shared folders, failures sending larger emails with attachments, extremely slow SSH sessions to remote servers with frequent session breakups, Jabber clients losing their connections, and the list goes on and on. Again: A very simple setup using none of the "fancy" functions such as bittorrent, NAS via USB or multiple virtual wireless networks. All of the unstable implementation comes on top of a web interface that is so bad it hurts. One example: After you entered your long list of DHCP static leases and firewall rules using 192.168.1.x addresses, guess what happens if you want to switch your network to use 192.168.100.x? Right, delete all entries one-by-one, changing the setup for LAN and DHCP, then re-enter all rules. Oh, and the WINS server, too. Just painful and it would be so easy to add some sanity to the interface.

Conclusion: It's back to the old-but-stable WRT54GL for me. This router looks good on the shelf and will stay there until there is a usable firmware available. I would prefer DD-WRT but might look into OpenWRT and use this for training.』

(Excellent Atheros-based N router, great internals)

『Wow, these outer reviews really slam this router - but I suspect it must be software (firmware) issues. This is a Linux 2.6 based router.

I'm not your typical user, I own 8 other N routers that I'm using for a Linux development project (OpenWRT testing). Planex/PCI did a great job implementing their circuit board (clean and tidy) and the website configuration interface. As soon as I got the router, I flashed it with the Jan. 2, 2009 firmware on the Planex website.

I can't say enough positive about the technicals of this router for the $60 price.
It supports WDS out of the box, few N routers allow this. It has an Atheros ar9103 chip which is 3x3 MIMO. I tried a 8GB Kingston flash memory stick in the USB port mounted and worked the first time. It even has a way to view the Linux console log from the web pages.

Hardware wise: 32MB of RAM, 400Mhz CPU, 8MB of flash for firmware, easily soldered in rs232 serial port, USB port standard. Anyone looking to hack on the Atheros AP81 router platform for Linux should be impressed with the job that Planex did with the hardware.

OpenWRT now working!』

Having EE degree with 10+ years of IT experience and hardware, software design, this should be a breeze. Because the idea of a NAS + Itunes server + 802.11N access point was great. Get apple product without paying apple prices...
I guess I was wrong.
I purchased this product to replace my existing wireless access point at home. The reason my wireless router is programmed as access point is that the DSL coming home already has a router. It turns out it does not operate as NAS + access point.
Then I decided that I should install it as a secondary Wireless access point. Guess again. This time it did not operate properly because the secondary port was not a public address.
Sadly, currently it is waiting for a fix or software upgrade from Planex to get operating.

『I found the light effect less impressive than I thought it was going to be, but it's still fun to watch it go off when you hit it and fade away after a couple of seconds. The weight is a little more than the original Guitar Hero drumsticks but that didn't bother me.

A real turn-off was that the sticks are very noisy, to the point that I had to crank up the volume on the TV real loud so I could hear the music. For some reason this drumsticks generate a vibrating noise (i think it comes from the juncture between the transparent part and the non-transparent bottom) that reverberates.

I'll go back to wooden drumsticks but will keep this for when showing off Guitar Hero to my friends.』

『These sticks are junk. Do not buy. The battery compartment is poorly designed and if you aren't really careful your sticks will be broken before you ever get to play with them. It doesn't really matter that much because if you do manage to get the batteries in them and working properly they are only good for about 10 minutes of play time because the sticks are plastic and snap very easily. Also they are about 4 times the size of real drum sticks and when your drumming with them the plastic slap is so loud you can't hear the game.』

『Rock Band awesome, rock band two drum set awesome, these sticks okay I got them knowing they'd break sometime but not in the first week of having them. the soder on terminal for the leds to flicker broke off so I was okay with clear drum sticks but then used again and then item broke(seriously) in half at the grip so now I have one working drum stick. Not worth the money. Best Buy carries newer one solid plastic two piece(to this one with like 6) item which is much better, same price. Check out best buy before this item. Never threw them or beat the crap out of them they just up n broke.
