Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (Low Initial Cost But May Be Prone to Early Failure) 『I have purchased five Linksys/Cisco VPN routers in the last five years. Two "RV042"s, Two "BEFSX41"s, and one RVL200. (Yes, I have (maybe now "had") a preference for the Linksys/Cisco brand.) But out of these five VPN routers, both of the RV042s have failed (blinking diag light) within about 16 months from the date of purchase.
When not in failure mode, the RV042 is a cost effective router and I have paired them together or have mixed and matched with the BEFSX41, RVL200 and a Sonicwall VPN router (don't know the model since I was connecting to a third-party administered site) with good results. It also has a large feature set for the price (DHCP w/ MAC mapping, 5 IPsec VPNs, VLAN support, etc...) and since the last firmware upgrade, it has not been buggy (unlike in 2006, which was two firmware upgrade versions earlier). It is, however, prone to early failure based on my experience and other user comments/reviews. One reviewer here has stated the Blinking Diag Light of Death ("BDLOD") may be due to a firmware problem although I recall during my first failure, another reviewer (you might need to google this issue) stated that these BDLODs may be due to bad capacitors. This person posted a DIY capacitor replacement guide on the web.
For now, I might just spend the $180.00 for another RV042 so I can easily load my configuration backups. My full-time profession (Patents) is not IT so there's a need to get my End Point VPNs, VoIP PBX w/ SIP phones connected using a Wireless 802.11 bridge, Real-time offsite file backups and remote desktop functionality (for all fifteen PCs and Laptops) up and running with minimal disruption. When configured correctly, having VPN end-points enables dependable offsite computing, greatly increasing my productivity. I'll then research and implement a transition plan on my own schedule to avoid unintended surprises. Note I have a 9 year old D-Link non-VPN wireless router and it is still in use!
Overall, the RV042 has a large feature set and is relatively stable. If you do purchase it, you might not be disapointed but it might be a good idea to backup your configuration settings and have a spare RV042 backup available to minimize downtime.

P.S. I found the BEFSX41 to be a the "little engine that could" of VPN routers. It's fast, very inexpensive and reliable. It does have a somewhat limited feature set, e.g., it does not support MAC address DHCP mapping. The RVL200 is also an interesting product - I find the SSL VPN functionality convenient. I have used remote desktop to read my email and pull files while away via SSL VPN - easy, Web-browser (active-x only?) compatible and a no-brainer to use. Every once in while, - it has a "system busy" problem during logon but this does not occur frequently enough for me to regret my purchase.』

The brain games themselves are fun, but the hassle of getting to each one exceeds the pleasure of actually playing. (This complaint is similar to that of Wii Fit, where each exercise is punctuated by intro and outro dialogs that destroy any rhythm you might have built up.) It seems like a lot of Wii games do this, which is why i don't buy a lot of Wii games anymore.

(A must-have game for families and friends!) 『This game is the most fun when played 4 player, but you can also play with 1, 2 or 3 players. It's like a board game, with a bunch of mini games thrown in the mix. There are six different boards (if you unlock them all, which is easy enough to do) and tons of mini games (with more you can unlock) so you don't get bored with the game too fast. Playing 2 player, some of the boards have slightly different rules than when you play 4 player. This also adds to the variety a bit.
The wide variety of mini games ensures that everyone has an equal chance of winning. Each player will be better at some mini games, and really struggle with others. So when it's randomly selecting the mini game, everyone is yelling at the TV which mini game they hope it lands on. Some of the mini games are every man for himself, some are 2 vs 2, some are 1 vs 3 and it will randomly select who is on what team, which also keeps things interesting. It provides a very level playing field for most players. Some mini games are point and click, while other mini games require you to hold the wiimote like an old school Nintendo controller. Some take advantage of the tilt sensor inside the controller. In the beginning, no one has any idea what's going on in these mini games, everyone is just fumbling their way through, which is amusing. Over time you will get skilled at certain mini games and come to hate others.
The first week we had it, I went through on single player and got everything unlocked so we could play all the levels, with all the mini games and the full selection of characters. I always play as dry bones. Each character says things (or sound effects if they don't talk), which is cute. "I'ma Wario, I'ma gonna win!" and stuff like that. When it's your turn, your wiimote makes a noise. So if you're in the other room when your turn comes up, you know you need to hurry up and get back to the game. This is the game we always play when friends and family visit. This is fun for a very wide range of ages. We and our friends are in the 26-36 age range. My mom, kid sister, step daughter, aunts and uncles, step parents, we all think this game is fun. If you are old enough to play video games, you can play this game just fine. Being old enough to read is helpful, since all the mini games give you instructions on how to play them. But even if your kid can't read, he might still be able to figure out the mini games through trial and error, the same way any kid figures out a video game quickly.』
("Is it OVER yet?") 『This is the first Mario party game of the franchise that I have played. I have not played console games since about 1997 during the N64 era. I have played PC games since that time.
The very first thing I notice about this game are the horrible graphics. This game looks horrible on a wide screen TV. This would normally have more of an impact on a game's score but as someone pointed out, this game isn't about graphics. It is somewhat of a strain to see, though, in some of the mini games. (Some of this blame falls on the Wii itself for having analogue, low res graphics... if you own a flat panel TV, which I'm betting most of you do, you'll be disappointed.)
The sound is....lacking. I expect nothing less than full speech, not just the welcome line. For $50, I want voice acting and I want very good voice acting. If we're forced to proceed through every single line of dialogue, anyway, there should be narration. Which brings me to my next complaint.
This game is painfully slow. I don't want cut scenes to start playing that I've seen a million times. I don't want to have to click through several paragraphs of text I've seen a million times. A better "skip" system needs to be in place. I've never been to a party that has had a pace THIS painfully slow.
The programming algorithms are painfully predictable. You can turn it into a drinking game... for instance, predict what will happen on every turn. Simply pick the worst possible roll for you or the best possible roll for the CPU and you'll be the only one sober at the end of the game. I am able to predict for 4 straight rounds now 100% of the roll outcomes. Randomisation and AI are simply not in this game at all. This ruins the game when not playing 4 human players.
Some of the mini games are actually fun. Some are so predictable, you wish they had a skip button to just automatically default to the player who will win already, why waste 30 seconds of my life?
The fact that you can't rent this on a Friday night, invite your friends over and start playing is indeed EXTREMELY annoying. I want to jump right to the mini-games without all the accompanying BS that comes with unlocking this stuff. If I wanted to play a quirky board game, I'd pick up a box of The Game of LIFE instead.
I had high hopes for this game and indeed picked it up on a Friday night for my family to play. Before long, we were all bored and asked "Is it OVER yet?"』

I played this game with my fourteen-year-old nephew who thought the game was far more stupid than I did, and I thought it was extremely stupid. I hated it. If I could have given it a rating in negative numbers I would have. I don't recommend this game to anyone.

I'm more into rock music but decided to buy Band Hero in the hopes that my wife would play, too (wider music variety). I have zero muscial ability, but I must say this game is really fun and addictive. My wife is not really into video games, but she likes it as well. It seems to actually be helping my musical ability (finding/keeping a beat). I've mostly played guitar in the game and being new to this type of gaming I could start with their nice tutorial and then set it on easy (3frets) when I started playing. Drums are also a blast to play and built solid. They are a more realistic instrument than the guitar for any musicians who want to try this game. The song list is actually great. I like the variety. Overall:
pros -very adjustable difficulty levels means pretty much anyone can play -play lead guitar, bass guitar, drums, or sing -Expandable by downloading songs from GH5 (and some other titles) as well as downloadable content from the music store (Suggestion: Buy a 4GB or greater SDHC card for the Wii) -Lots of game modes to keep your interest -Customizable characters
cons -Graphics:I don't have a wii for the graphics, but you could probably "get into" the game more if the crowd and band graphics were better. -To get the most out of the game, I think the volume needs to be cranked pretty good (so you can hear your part above the clicking of the guitar strum bar). We have a toddler sleeping in a nearby room, so this is tough - As many other reviews have said, plan on a wii remote for each instrument you want to use, including microphone 』

(Looks like they didn't fix the drum kit issue) 『We had three different Guitar Hero - World Tours, ALL with bad drum kits. All were returned within days. We really thought they had resolved the drum kit issues. After only two days, we have a bad drum kit again. This is our FOURTH bad drum kit from this series (the 'Herp' games).
The drum kit falsely registers the blue pad when you hit the red or green. It went bad on our 2nd day of use.
So back to the store it goes.
Great selection of pop songs and it's a fun game to play (neat, poppy graphics), but what use is it if the drums don't work? I was also really annoyed they took out words like "whiskey" and "klonopin" out of songs. I'm 34, I think I can handle those words. I didn't appreciate the censorship of the music.
