『This is one of the best irons I have ever used. The only thing I have against this iron is that if you use a lot of steam (which I love and use a lot), you need to refill the tank more often. Everything else is wonderful about this Rowenta iron. I always knew Rowenta was the best (this one is made in Germany) but I didn't know it was going to be THIS great. It doesn't spit out water (which I had read on some reviews), it is heavy but not too heavy and it irons everything very smoothly and quickly. My husband's shirts haven't looked like this in a long time! I am very happy with this iron and recommend for anyone!』

『After reading all of the great reviews, we purchased this iron to replace our old duct taped version. It was great until it stopped working 13 months later. Of course, Rowenta would do nothing about it since it was outside of the 12 month window. I'd rather buy the cheap versions if I'm going to have to replace it every year and a half. This was absolutely not worth the money.』

『My old Rowenta was a solid workhorse. Unfortunately the plug cracked and I have not found someone to replace it. I figured since I had a great experience with my first Rowenta I would purchase another.
From the very first use, I was not happy. It heats up too hot and melted the blouse I wanted to iron. If it isnt set at the minimal low setting to get steam it sticks on the clothes and before you know it you have melted material. I think the only material it has not messed up is jeans.
I should have returned this iron after the first use, but my busy husband tossed the box and receipts the day I got it and of course it was trash pick up day.
I will now look for another brand of iron to replace this one. I do prefer one that heats up fast and has great steam but to ruin clothes as much as this one did they lost me as a customer. Think very thoroughly if you have delicate clothes to iron and are entertaining the thought to purchase this one. Along with the receipt for the iron I wish I had the receipts for the clothes ruined and I would have sent the package to Rowenta for a refund.』

『I figured I was wasting by $$ buying a gimick product, but I was wrong. It works, it's easy and the brownies are all perfectly sliced and chewy on 4 sides (just the way I like them!). It does exactly what they claim it does, and the brownies come out just perfect. It's easy to clean and well made. It was worth the $20 and I am very happy with this product. I would recommend highly.

I spend 1.5 hours on-line trying to find a customer service number or email or even a phone search. forget it! it is impossible to return these items. so I called me credit card company and they told me to call UPS and request a pick up to return the box and get a tracking no. to give to the CC company. UNBELIEVABLE!
So this producty is a great, but hope you don't get duplicate orders or try to return your item.』

『My daughter has enjoyed watching all the Baby Einstein DVDs since she was an infant. I wasn't sure this would do the trick, but I was wrong. I bought this a few weeks ago. She's now 20 months, and she watches the video the whole way through and loves to name all the animals. There's also a setting for older kids to describe what the animals are doing...Sheep running, etc. She watches this a few times a week and never tires of it.』

Just when I think JB cannot possibly produce an album that is any better---he does!!

『Being an almost 10 year fan of Jim Brickman and his music I was eagerly awaiting his newest cd, "Beautiful World," and it was worth the wait. I love it! Once, again, Jim has composed, arranged and performed some wonderful music! As I am typing this review, I am listening to the cd for a second time and already have my favorites: "Oceans Apart," "Noche Pacifica," "Romance sur la Seine," and "Carnivale." What sets Mr. Brickman apart from other pianists I have listened to is his "sound." His is very distinctive and it touches my psyche and I am never disappointed. The music relaxes me, makes me smile and even once in a while makes me cry. The emotions it evokes in me touches my heart. I definitely will be purchasing more copies of "Beautiful World" to give to family and friends (as I have done with Jim's other cd's) as presents to go in their Christmas stocking. Another fantastic compilation! I hope you enjoy it as much as I have!』

『I have in my possession the Celtic Woman audio CD for awhile, but only recently purchased the DVD. I remember the emotion that came over me listening to the music two years ago while watching the tele, and me literally taken over by their music. The girls sing with all their heart and they are very talented. Songs that particularly struck a chord with me are 'New Grange', 'Granuailes Dance', 'Dulamann', 'Carrickfergus' and 'The Voice'.

I have only a sliver of Ulster-Scot ancestry in me but this album was all that it took to bring it out in a mighty roar or just the soul of someone who knows good music when he hears it.

If you cherish Irish culture as I do and appreciate songs of passion, feet that move to a tune (Mairead the Fiddler could easily be African American with her ability to dance, uninhibited), and the sound of a symphony in perfect rhythm then Celtic Woman is A MUST!

("Orinoco Flow" on PBS, but not DVD.)
『The PBS special, that I originally saw this concert on, had "Orinoco Flow" as the 4th track, but it's not here. More than that, the disc pauses in the place where the chapter should be. Unlike the other reviewer, when I ordered the DVD the track list had been updated and did not include "Orinoco Flow"; however, I didn't notice. I just assumed this DVD had the full concert. Needless to say I was very disappointed.

This is the only reason I'm giving 4 stars. Otherwise it's a solid 5.

One odd thing I noticed is the DVD itself and its sleeve shows a copyright year of 2009! The concert was performed in 2006 with the DVD released in 2007. I don't know if this means it's simply been reissued (as with alot of DVDs) or if there's an older disc out there with the track on it.

UPDATE: I said the track list had been updated and "Orinoco Flow" was not included but as it turns out there are two listings for this DVD. One has the correct info and the other does not.』

(Celtic Women: A New Journey)
『Extraordinary. The Celtic Women at their best. This will be an excellent reminder for those of you who have seen their show in Toronto few years ago. The decor is almost the same despite the fact that, in Slane Castle, the show takes place outside in what seems to be a beautiful night. I particularly enjoyed Mairead, the fiddle female Elf for whom gravity is just a word or so it seems. She is so light, so fairy like.

Off course, the rest of the troop, singers and musicians, is great too. Without them, the show wouldn't be what it is, Excellent.

One can never go wrong when buying their music in whichever form. But, seeing them, is such a delight.

『A great documentary about the life of Gerta Weissemann Kleiss during World War II. From her being shipped from her home in Poland as a pretty young teenage girl, to her trials and tribulations while working in forced labor camps for Nazi Germany, to being liberated by a young American Army officer who later became her husband. It is an uplifting story about a very special lady. It is a great documentary and I highly recommend it to anybody. It should be required watching in all schools to show the true horrors of the Holocaust. A true story about courage and the will to survive.』

『I bought the very first version of this product. It seems like I've had it for a couple of decades. It started looking a bit shabby as the result of several moves. It had a few small cracks but still functioned perfectly.The new one looks a lot better in my new fridge.

I don't understand the mold issue reported by other reviewers. The first one or two fills after installing a new filter may leave a bit of carbon dust in the water which could possibly settle to the bottom of the unit. Could this be what these people are seeing? Properly soak the filter before using, dump the first fill and there should be no problem.』

『I would generally recommend the Brita 35530 Ultramax Dispenser over all of the Brita pitchers or kitchen faucet filtration systems.

I had a very bad experience with kitchen faucet filtration systems and would definitely not recommend them. I tried two different versions before finally giving up on that technology (leaks, filtration way too slow, clogs in system, etc.)

The main problem with Brita pitchers is they require frequent refills because their water storage capacity is relatively small (6-10 cups at most).

This the best combination (it has high water capacity and doesn't take up your kitchen faucet). This is all you need for at-home water filtration. In my opinion the best Brita product on the market and I definitely recommend buying it. It is also readily available at most major U.S. retailers. Highly Recommended!!

『According to the email response I got from the Brita website, there is algae in the water supply (varying levels depending on where ya live) and Brita filters do not get rid of algae. The list of things it does get rid of is on the box and info when you buy it. Apparently I must live in a high algae content water area, because both my Ultramax (on a counter away from direct sunlight),and space saver pitcher (in the fridge) acquire a thin film of green in the bottom less than a week after cleaning. And the same thing happens to a friend's Ultramax who lives a few miles away. It's pretty inconvenient to have to take apart and wash the things every week, so I'll probably get rid of the Ultramax. When I got these I assumed they'd only need cleaning every two months when I replaced the filters. Can't tell you how lucky you are if you live somewhere that has low algae content in the water - very disappointed that I can no longer use this product. I'll continue using the fridge pitcher only because it's easier to take apart and clean so frequently.』

『We've had this filter for about a month now, and we're very happy we purchased it. For the last three years, we've used a Brita pitcher with no problems. However, we just moved into a larger apartment with a larger fridge and decided to try out the larger dispenser. Best decision ever!

Pros:
1. Price on Amazon was better than any that we saw in stores.
2. Results in great tasting water (we're in NYC).
3. Having a larger reservoir is such a luxury after being used to the Brita pitcher.
4. No need to remove it to pour yourself a glass.
5. Easy to refill; we just remove the top lid and run it under the sink.
6. I prefer the spigot versus pouring from the Brita pitcher.

Cons:
1. I'm not thrilled about having a meter that runs on a permanently enclosed battery. However, if and when it dies, we're in no worse position than we were when we used a Brita pitcher (which has such no meter) for three years.
2. As others have indicated, you can never totally empty all of the water through the spigot because it's opening is higher than the bottom of the reservoir. I suppose this was a decision they made to maximize the size of the reservoir. Either way, it's only a slight con, and any excess water would be poured out whenever the dispenser is being cleaned anyways.

Other:
1. Size; if there were a Brita dispenser with a larger reservoir, I would have bought that instead. We tend to drink a lot of water and use this water when we cook. As a result, we end up refilling the Brita dispenser almost every day or every other day. Maybe if there were several model dispensers with all different sizes?』

『This is an effective escape ladder, but it is a bit bulkier than I would like.』

(poor hook design)
『I purchased one of these.

The attachment hook is a very poor design it may not work on your window. My window is a standard vertical slider in a 2 x 4 wall with vinyl siding and 3/8" thick interior trim board.

The ladder part looks great, but when testing the hooks over the window I was appalled to discover that all the weight of the person on the ladder would be pulling up on the tiny part of the hook that happens to hook on the interior window trim.

I pushed down on the ladder on the outside and the hood quickly popped off!

No way would I climb down one of these! I will be returning it!

『The single worst heater I've ever purchased! The stupid piece of junk stopped working within 20 days of purchase and the customer service is absolutely terrible. When we called the company to ask for a replacement or a refund, they insisted that we ship the product back via certified and insured mail (at our own cost) and that we would receive our refund in a several weeks. In addition, the customer service representatives were extremely rude.

The DeLonghi heaters are far superior to Vornado. I would highly recommend against buying this truly terrible product. Do not waste your money. -

And when I took the product out, I was more surprised as to how small the heater truly was. It appeared to be a space or personal heater. I fired this little baby up, left the room (the coldest room in the house) and my wife went in before me and had to turn the heater down, the room had become so warm. I like the simple, yet informative display of the digital panel. The enclosure never gets hot and the output is a comforting warmth.
This heater really delivers on its "whole room" promise. The room that this heater is in is about 300 square feet. But, the Vornado warms it up in less than 20 minutes and needs to be turned down after a total of 30-40 minutes.
It's not often that you can purchase an item and it performs as the manufacturer claims, but this is one product that exceeds its performance claims, in my view.
I will certainly buy Vornados in the future. They have my trust and confidence in their products.』

『I live in an older condo (built in the 50's) with parquet wood floors and high ceilings. The only source of heat in the main living area is a small wall unit in an awkward corner of the living room. I wanted something small and portable to provide a little extra warmth. This Vornado heater works as advertised... it emits a stream of warm (not hot) air and is virtually noiseless. I have it placed on an area rug and though the surface under the heater gets slightly warm, it is not a concern. The plug and cord seem durable and do not get hot or even warm as the reviews of other heaters indicated.

Several reviewers of this heater said that it takes a while to heat up a room and/or the room never really gets warm. I think it depends on the size of the space you're trying to heat and whether or not this is the only source of heat you're using.』

『I was disappointed to find out about this popular character made by Sesame Street is barely educational, not funny (even for an 18 month child, especially for a parent), and mostly just a way to waste 50 min of my kid's day. If that's all you need it for then go for it, but I think there's plenty of better stuff out there.

We rented the Sesame Street Old School volumes from Netflix. Those shows are from the early 1970s and the difference is huge! Those shows are both funny and educational. And to my surprise, faster paced! These Elmo shows have little visual charm as they are mostly cheap computer graphics. They go on and on about redundant topics, like eating bananas, for about 15 minutes. The old Sesame Street teaches much more valuable lessons quicker and more enjoyably than Elmo in these shows.

Oh, and the character Mr. Noodle is actually offensive to me. If you don't know he is the bumbling idiot adult whom the kids can tell what to do when he tries to, for example, put on a jacket.』

『This was a great purchase. We first welcomed Elmo into our daughters life with Elmo's World "What makes you happy?" Dvd.
My husband and I wanted to get our daughter a variety of other Elmo's World dvds, mainly because we had the first one memorized so we also needed something new. She absolutely loves Elmo. He is her favorite Sesame Street character. It keeps her entertained while I cook dinner. Every time we come home from daycare the first thing she says as we walk in the door is "Elmo!"

She has the elmo doll. I highly recommend the Elmo and Abby's Birthday Fun dvd too. Abby Cadabby is her 2nd favorite character.

『I watched this film again, and forgot how much I love it. Great performances, great soundtrack... just a great film for adults, and children also.』

『This is a terrifically entertaining -- and clever -- film, and I wholeheartedly recommend it.

But... If I might get serious...

Leonard Bernstein once said that no composer consciously sets out to write "insincere" music. "Enchanted" is a conscious parody of Disney style and content that, at the same time, tries to remain sincere. But parody is inherently un-sincere. It's difficult to spoof something while treating it ingenuously. The two work against each other.

This is most apparent in the film's best sequence -- the "Happy Little Working Song", which skewers "Whistle While You Work". The former brutally satirizes what is implicit in the latter -- dirty animals are cleaning up the place, including the dishes! Stephen Schwartz couldn't resist having Giselle acknowledge that they rats, roaches, and pigeons are "vermin", or having her sing:

"We'll keep singing without fail, otherwise we'd spoil it,
Hosing down the garbage pail and scrubbing up the toilet.",

something the "real", naive Giselle would never sing. But this is a spoof, so why not? The sequence ends with a slap at "Disney cute" -- one of the pigeons eats one of the cockroaches. If we hadn't caught on that the film was a take-off, we know now.

The problem is that there's no easy way to balance sincerity and spoof. It's not unlike making a comic horror film. James Whale did it -- once -- and no one else has duplicated it, not even Sam Raimi. "Enchanted"'s script and direction lean on the sincere side, without going overboard on the send-up. But the result isn't sincere enough to draw any strong emotion, while the parody lacks "edge" -- except in the scene mentioned. There's no way this obviously tongue-in-cheek tone could have been continued throughout the rest of the film without -- well, spoiling it.

It would be unfair -- and insincere -- to ask Bill Kelly (the writer) and Kevin Lima (the director) to achieve what is virtually impossible. So I won't. Just enjoy "Enchanted" for what it is -- a Disney self-parody that's been a long time coming.

Parents should be aware that the PG rating includes "mild innuendo" -- /sexual/ innuendo, both straight and gay. It will probably go right over most toddlers' heads, but don't be surprised if you get the odd question or two. ("Mommy, why is that man smiling at the prince?")

This BD is typical of Disney, which is to say, gorgeous. Other than a game and some bloopers, there's nothing on the BD that wasn't on the DVD. But the animation, costumes, sets, and effects benefit greatly from high definition.』

『Enchanted (directed by Kevin Lima) is a modern day fairytale that weaves comedy, song and dance and storybook fantasies together. The result is a delightful Disney movie that puts a spin on the classic `fairytale' story.

The movie begins in Andalasia; an animated fairytale world full of merriment, song and adventure. Princess Giselle (Amy Adams) is a young, Snow White-esque character that spends her days cleaning her house, singing with her animal friends and awaiting the day her prince charming will come and sweep her off of her feet. He arrives one day in the form of Prince Edward (James Marsden). They fall in love on a whim and plan to marry the next day.

Edward's evil stepmother, Queen Narissa (Susan Sarandon), however, wants the kingdom for herself and, in an attempt to get rid of her, pushes Giselle into a portal that leads to our world. She lands in New York City where she meets Robert Phillip (Patrick Dempsey) and his daughter Morgan (Rachel Covey). Giselle must then choose between both worlds and along the way discovers what true love really is.

Amy Adams shines as the doe-eyed Giselle. Her innocence to the 'real' world she has tumbled into is both charming and humorous. She transitions from a naïve fairytale princess who is perfectly fine with having her prince rescue her to a woman who ends up saving the day. Adams shows us that Disney princesses are not merely along for the ride and that each and every one of them are independent souls capable of shaping their own destinies.

Marsden keeps us laughing with his sheer obliviousness to almost everything that is going on around him. The fact that a chipmunk (voiced by Jeff Bennett and Kevin Lima) just may be smarter than the prince is equally humorous. The fairytale characters reactions to New York City are also laugh out loud. The scene where Prince Edwards has to slay the beast (a NYC bus!) is clever and helps the audience to understand how tough a transition it's going to be for the animated characters. The thousands of Disney references are also fun to look for. Like discovering that Robert's secretary voiced Ariel in The Little Mermaid.

As Giselle begins to question the fairy-tale truths she's always inherently believed, Robert's outlook on life and love also begins to change significantly. By the time they used it, it was too late to return it. Big mistake to wait that long. The mixer started out fine and was much quieter than the cheaper hand mixer she'd been using. We thought it was a great improvement with being digital, too. Unfortunately the thing died during the first use of only mixing eggs and sugar for the start of a cookie recipe, and apparently there is no way to fix it. It's like throwing $60 in the garbage. Lesson learned-be sure to use such a product within the return frame in case you get a dud. We really thought with a name like KitchenAid, it would work fine. Certainly not broken right out of the box. She also had trouble with a Kitchenaid chopper that thankfully was able to be returned. I should have known after reading reviews on the large stand mixers that some customers get shoddy products from this company. I read that many of the items don't last as long as they did before the brand was manufactured in China. I suspect that is the problem. Probably another case of a great company selling out to China to cut costs and save money. And we are stuck with little options of anything else to buy. Not to mention all the health hazards associated with Chinese goods. And this is what we cook with. Sickening. I wish companies would stop seeing dollar signs at the expense of their customers. Doesn't anyone have pride in their work or products anymore? It feels like everything is going downhill and money is always the reason. The older mixer still works, incidentally, and thankfully was not thrown out when this one was received. I've since purchased a large mixer made in Germany. Seems a lot of people have good KA units but there are plenty who don't. I guess it is hit or miss--maybe they churn out some faulty units too frequently for a big name, and I was one of the unlucky ones to get one of them. It's a real shame that they charge so much for it. Since they are cutting costs by having them made more cheaply, why not lower the prices for the consumers. But that would cut into more profit. This mixer was not worth $5 at a yard sale much less $60 brand new. It's a rip off. The old cheap mixer may be noisy but it's lasted many years. I will never buy another KitchenAid product, unless maybe if they begin manufacturing them somewhere other than China but that's not likely to happen is it. There is only a one-year warranty on this appliance, so I need to buy new beaters (at least $15 at minimum) or see if a family friend can weld them back together. While I initially liked the design of the beaters, I can see now that the design lends itself to this problem. If the beaters were complete rings of metal, I think this would be much less likely to happen. As other reviewers have noted, there was no response other than a clicking sound when the power button was pressed. Since multiple people (on multiple review sites) have had this identical problem, I contacted KitchenAid even though the 1 yr warranty was up, told them that clearly there was some kind of defect in design or manufacturing, and requested repair or replacement. Of course, I got the stock answer of "we cannot provide support on a product after the warranty has expired" and they offered a "discount" (equivalent to Amazon's current price) so that I could buy the same crappy mixer! Regrettably, I had already given away my functional but plain Black&Decker hand mixer...that teaches me to buy style over substance! I also bought, in the last year, a KitchenAid stand mixer. I recently got a solicitation from them to buy (at extra cost, of course) product insurance to extend their 1 yr. warranty. Given the rotten performance of the hand mixer, I might be compelled to shell out the extra $ just to avoid having a $400 piece of nonfunctional metal 6 months from now. KitchenAid, get your act together and quit shilling these glossy but low quality products!
