(Gap between blades big problem.) 『My wife's old knife finally gave up the ghost. After doing some research I picked this one. I noticed the complaints about the gap between the blades causing problems but there seemed to be so many positive reviews I gave it the benefit of the doubt. Well what do you know, my wife made a roast chicken and gave it a go with her new knife. The gap was really there, very noticable. It immediately became a problem as chicken bits got stuck between the two blades. Not a very successful present for her. I don't know how so many people seemed to like it so much, it has a very serious flaw.』
(GREAT LITTLE KNIFE !!!) 『I'm older and have trouble with my hands. I had an expensive electric knife that was almost impossible to use. You had to fight to keep the button pushed. This knife is easy to use and makes a breeze out of cutting roasts, bread, anything! I love it!』
(Not worth even the low price of $20.00) 『I purchased this knife earlier this year to replace a different brand I had for many years, but is no longer available. I chose this knife primarily based upon the reviews I read. It is not worth the hassle of returning it, but it is nearly useless. The blades are set too far apart, and they tend to shred the meat instead of slicing it. And, it is virtually impossible to slice meat thinly. You need to apply a lot of downward pressure to even get through the meat, which really fatigues the hand. If anyone knows of a good quality electric knife, I would love to know about it. They seem to be hard to find. Don't waste your money on this one. Mine will likely end up in the trash.』
(Don't Waste Your Money) 『Don't waste your money. I gave this knife one star because I had to give it something to write the review.... it deserves 0 stars. I brought the knife home and I tried to slice roast beef for a sandwich. The blades barely made it through the roast beef, shredding the meat as it went along. The meat shreds also found their way in between the blades, making a mess of everything. The blades are too thin and very flexible. (super satisfied!) 『Iam so amazed by this product..at first I was very doubtfull about buying it, mainly becouse of the price being too high. however, after using it the first time I realized I had made the best choice. besides being an elegant looking machine, it also works like a champ I just love it!!』
(Best Choice) 『The Breville 800JEXL Juice Extractor is the best. Set-up takes 20 seconds, clean-up takes about 1 minute and the juice is perfect. I do suggest using a plastic bag in the pulp holder. The feed tube is very adaquate for any fruit or vegetable and the juicer is powerful enough to handle the task. This machine is also quite. This is an excellent choice.』
(Excellent Juicer!) 『I have never juiced in my life, but thought it sounded like a healthy thing to do so I did my research and chose the Breville 800JEXL. I have not been disappointed. This is one solid machine. Easy to clean, easy to use, great juice! I believe it is the best juicer made and the price is excellent. It is a solid machine, stainless steel, heavy duty.』

Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (Love these glassess) 『These glasses are awesome. They really insulate the beverage, keeping the hot/cold from your hand when you hold the glass. Would recommend to anyone.』
(Almost perfect) 『I absolutely love these glasses. I use them everyday for my hot tea. I love that the glass doesn't get too hot to carry. And they seem to keep my tea hotter longer than other cups/glasses. I would have given these 5 stars except for the fact that they are very fragile. I'm very careful with mine. I don't use a spoon in them. I wash them by hand and keep them seperate from the other dishes when drying. With that said, I did break one of them about a month after I got them (my own fault... I tipped one over and it fell into the sink). If you are careful with them they are fantastic. I plan on buying more. The 12 ounce size seems perfect for most uses... so I'll probably stick with that when I order more.』
(Bodum review) 『Great product! No condensation on the glass to worry about- saves your tables. Wonderful size for a big drink to quench your thirst! Not a heavy glass- light, bit sturdy and beautiful, too.』
(Very fragile.) 『While the glass does stay cool, the glass breaks if it so much as bumps against something. Otherwise good.』
(not guaranteed) 『Bodum does not offer a warranty on their products. The plug on the bottom came out after only one use. I called and they told me Too Bad. Now my glasses are in the trash and I'm out $30.
』 『The Bodum Pavina double wall cooler glass is 12 ounces in size and can be used for cold or warm beverages. Its unique design is appealing to the eye when filled with your favorite beverage. With its double layer of borosilicate glass it appears as though the liquid is 'floating' within the glass. They will not sweat when filled with a cold beverage, so you will not have to use a coaster. The double wall creates a thermal effect, helping to keep your cold drinks cold and your hot drinks hot for longer periods of time. These mouth blown glasses are an exciting product for any home, restaurant and cafe and they are a definite conversation piece. Bodumâs insulated glassware is made from durable Borosilicate glass. Borosilicate glass is a strong heat-resistant glass traditionally used to make scientific lab glass. Stronger than traditional âsoda-limeâ glass, borosilicate can be used for everything from drinkware to cookware. Borosilicate glass substitutes boron oxide in place of the soda and lime used in everyday glassware. The boron oxide acts as the glue holding the silicate together. Due to small size of boron particles, the glass is held together tighter, resulting in a stronger, lighter glass. Borosilicate glassdoesnât need to be as thick as traditional glass to be just as strong due to the bonding capability boron oxide. Borosilicate is simply a different type of glass that is resistant to temperature swings and scratching. Because the particles are held together so tightly, borosilicate glass is resistant to temperature swings, In addition to being dishwasher safe borosilicate will not become cloudy over time; you can rest assured that after 1,000 cycles, the glass will be as clear as the day you bought it.』

(a stunning fado rendition!) 『Mariza has done this fado so beautifully. I saw her on LinkTv and found the CD here. The CD is truly awesome!』
(Mariza captures the heart yet again) 『I have been a serious fan since I first heard Mariza a few years ago. I was able to attend her concert in Nashville, TN this year and did not think that a city famous for country&western music would take to Fado, but Mariza had the entire audience eating out of her hand! I got this CD there (which Mariza graciously signed) and have not stopped listening to it for the last 3 months. There is variety; traditional Fado, a Cape Verde piece, jazzy modern pieces, even a song in English (best version of "Smile" I ever heard!). My favorite is probably the touching&nostalgic song about growing up&falling in love with Fado music, "Tasco da Mouraria". Mariza is an amazing artist, and she just seems to get better&better.』
(She is so accompished!) 『I've seen Mariza in concert on the 8th of April, 2009 in Madison, WI. She is an excellent singer and has great stage presence as well a superb connection while singing or conversing with the audience. This CD has many of the songs she did in the concert and therefore brings good memories to me. I have three of her previous CD's and two of her DVD concert performances. All of them are excellent!』
(Mariza is real beauty.) 『This is art. There is no box of soap here. I am deeply moved by this music.』 『2008 release from this critically-acclaimed vocalist, her fourth album overall. With musicians from England, Spain, Cuba and Brazil she has discovered a genuinely new sound that has it's roots in Fado but which is now so much more open and outward looking than before. Her current fans will love the passion and power that is her hallmark, but there will be new fans aplenty that love the uplifting nature of the new direction. 14 tracks. EMI France.』

The performances both from the philadelphia orchestra and the philadelphia chorus is spectacular! The music just surroundes you with warmth and christmas spirit. There is no other Christmas CD to compare with this except, of course, Handel's Messiah.』
(Even my teenager likes it!) 『This is a classic Christmas CD. When I played it on the CD player in the living room for the first time, my 15-year-old son came up the stairs and said it was very nice and he really enjoyed it. It is a lovely and inspirational CD. Merry Christmas!』

(Promising Debut!) 『"In a Perfect World. . ." has been a long time coming for Keri Hilson. After bubbling under the surface of the music industry--penning Britney Spears' "Gimme More," singing chorus for Timbaland on "The Way I Are"--she finally puts out her own CD, and for the most part, it works. Many of you have probably heard "Turnin Me On," already, and it is Keri operating at full potential--it's full of personality, blazing production, and it doesn't sound like she's trying too hard. Unfortunately, not every song lives up to the promise of "Turnin Me On," but she comes very close! "Get Your Money Up" is an example of what doesn't work on this CD. It's pretty standard hip-hop fare, much like a bad Keyshia Cole song. The real problem is that Keri is trying too hard to be hip-hop and loses her identity--she could be any modern R&B diva on this song. "Return the Favor" is much more fun! Timbaland and Keri have good chemistry and it's nice to hear him "return the favor" by singing the hook on one of her songs. The production is shimmery and full of bass in a way that is characteristic of this albums best tracks. Definite single potential on this one. "Knock You Down" is hands down the best song on this album and really shows what Keri Hilson is capable of. It's a big, almost frantic song--full of beats that feel almost too fast with stuttery percussion. At first it comes off like an innovative hip-hop song about finding love. . .until the chorus hits. Miss Hilson has a way with a chorus, usually blowing away all other parts of a song in the dust even if those parts are effective, and this is her best yet. It elevates the song into something more akin to electronica sonically, and lyrically shines with unexpected depth. This is the Keri Hilson we'd like to hear more of. After "Knock You Down," "In a Perfect World. . ." hits its low points, namely, "Slow Dance," and "Make Love." Neither of these tracks is particularly ear-catching or innovative. In truth, they sound like Ciara album filler, and that's not a good thing. Things get interesting again on "Intuition," a solid midtempo number about being insecure about a new relationship. What's great about this track is that we get a better idea of Keri's personality, making her more distinguishable from similar performers. It's a side of her that I hope she explores further on her next album. The production is solid and appropriately restrained. "How Does it Feel" is another midtempo, but not as interesting as "Intuition" or "Alienated." I generally skip right over it to get to the better stuff. "Alienated" is another great example of what Keri Hilson should be as an artist. More of an electronica song than a hip-hop song, this song starts off a little conventional-sounding until she hits the sparkling, shimmering chorus. Lyrically, she shows depth in the details: "I'm here wishing you would stop by my place/But the only time we talk is on MySpace." One of the albums best. "Tell Him the Truth" is a solid, if forgettable song. The production, lyrics, and vocals are all reasonably strong, but we've heard this kind of song before by slews of other R&B divas and the song fails to leave an impression, especially when compared to this albums high points. "Change Me" is much more promising. It starts off with beautiful harmonizing and turns into a sometimes heartbreaking duet about a couple that has drifted apart. Despite the beauty of the songs structure, it doesn't, for me, rank as one of the best on the album due to Akon's totally inappropriate oversinging, which totally overpowers Keri and the song. "Energy," the first single off the album is one of the albums best, mostly due to the gorgeous chorus, which lives up to the songs title. It feels like the sun emerging from the clouds, over and over again. The song is about the time and energy it takes to maintain a relationship and how draining it can be. Not what I would've chosen as a first single, but it's definitely an album highlight. "Where Did He Go" was a little blah for me, and I would've preferred the album to have stopped at "Energy," but the song has solid production and structure. Once again, this song fails to distinguish Keri Hilson's personality. In conclusion, Keri Hilson has the goods to make a really great album, but I'm not necessarily sure that it should be a hip-hop album. She sounds best when she's surrounded by all sorts of beautiful electronica noises rather than hip-hop beats. The other part she needs to work on is taking more risks as a songwriter and get a little eccentric. Too often this album falls into conventional R&B sludge that she's proven she's above. Key tracks: "Turnin Me On," "Return the Favor," "Knock You Down," "Alienated," and "Energy."』
(Beyonce' Who??) 『I love this cd so much. Keri Hilson is simply amazing and she has a wonderful voice. After listening to this cd I think that she should have been came out as an artist instead of just being a writer and producer. She really does her thing on this cd and Beyonce' has nothing on her. I can't wait until she makes another album.』
(Great) 『One of my few 1st purchases i made loved this CD it has not come out of my player since I got it!!!!』
(Great!) 『My cd was in excellent condition and I am really enjoying this great music...Thanks BT』 『Nurtured between Timbaland's Mosley Music Group and Polow's Zone 4 Inc., IN A PERFECT WORLD . . . boasts amazing sounds from a slew of hitmakers like Timbaland, Polow, and Danja. The album features guest appearances by Timbaland, Lil Wayne, Akon, Keyshia Cole, and Ne-Yo. It's a watershed moment that meets both goals-it sounds and feels great. Speaking up for all the ladies, In A Perfect World . . . also looks to empower women to be strong, independent and determined. "No human is exempt from the realities of life- heartbreak, failure, success..." Keri comments. This takes all forms throughout the album which reveals Keri's ability to translate every day trials and tribulations into engaging music.
Hilson has received many accolades in the media, having graced the covers of Fader and Trace Magazine and has been championed in the pages of Rolling Stone, Blender, Vibe, Entertainment Weekly and Interview to name a few.』
『2009 album from the R&B singer/songwriter, part of a collective of writers and producers known as The Clutch. Timbaland, who is executive producer of the album, and Lil Wayne make guest appearances. Keri has written music for artists like Britney, Toni Braxton, Mary J. Blige, Usher, The Pussycat Dolls, Diddy, Chingy, Ludacris, Jennifer Lopez and many others. 15 tracks.』
Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (DVD review) 『Previously owning the VHS copy released some years ago, i was highly disapointed to find that they still have not included the full DX skits in there entirity.
It does not show the full skit they did on The Nation where X-pac plays mark Henery and says, (in a Fat Albert voice)"Hey, hey hey, Rocky!... I smell what you're cooking, quite frankly it smells like s***. But dont matter, think i'll eat some anyway" - that skit was classic and it's not shown in its entirity.
Plus, the original was not censoured, the dvd has bleeps over the cuss words and black tape over the nudity. The bleeping out has completly ruined the DX press confrence speech about what words will and wont be used. The whole thing is just *beep*beep*beep*beep*watch your mouth*beep*beep*beep* it's just not funny when its censoured.
So I cant give this DVD the perfect 5 stars. Not to mention that they didnt continue on and show what became of DX since the video was released. Even tho it wasnt all that great, they shouldve at least added the footage where DX got back together and brought Tori and Stephenie McMahon into the group. Plus the one night reunion's. Sure, it may have ended as the DX group splitting up, but it was still DX.
Hopefully in future there will be a volume 2 that includes the HBK vs HHH fueds starting from at least the time when HBK was commisioner of the WWF and how all that came about then go into the reunion that happend in 2006 and so on and show the skits in there entirity.』
(VHS or DVD...depends on what your looking for) 『With the recent DX reunion on RAW and the re-release of this video (now on DVD), I popped this into the VCR for old times sakes. I also happen to get a copy of the DVD as a present so I'll review&compare the two.
VHS: This was back when WWE was not only the World Wrestling Federation (seems like a long time ago, doesn't it?) but also during the Attitude era. That means that on this tape, it was WWF at it's best. The selling point of this tape, it was all uncensored. You saw some girls flashing&they let the language fly...like I said, UNCENSORED! You get mini-profiles&highlights on DX members (HHH/Chyna/HBK/New Age Outlaws) and highlights of what made DX so popular from their in&out the ring pranks, comedy, interviews and promos including all the times they picked on Michael Cole. You also end up getting some non-televised footage from their invasion of the WCW offices and CNN Towers. Overall, it was just a fun video to watch.
DVD: Now the problem with this one was that this was put out by World Wrestling Entertainment which means that all the WWF logos are blurred out. Also, the Attitude era is over which means that WWE censored the video. You don't hear the cuss words&the footage of the flashing girls are edited out of the video. This hurts the video greatly but they try to make it up by adding 8 matches to the DVD...however the problem is that most of these matches are throwaway matches from RAW instead of more high profile matches. For example, DX had a PPV named after them but didn't have one match from it on this DVD. Anyways, here are the matches:
HBK vs. Mankind - Nope, this isn't the match from Mind Games...this is a match from RAW that was very similar to that match but only in a short time period. This match was the one that had "Ravishing" Rick Rude return to the WWF as Shawn's "insurance policy."
HBK&HHH vs. Mankind&Undertaker - This was the first time HBK&HHH teamed up together in this RAW main event, the match was actually going well but it was without a doubt the match that made Shawn a bonified heel when he kept beating up Taker with a chair to the point where he was bloodied.
HHH vs. Bret Hart - This was another average match but the bigger focus here was Shawn being Shawn&goofing around by picking his nose with the the Canadian flag at ringside.
European Title Match: HBK vs. HHH - This really wasn't even a match as it was classic D-Generation X once again playing mind games with the crowd&defying authority. This match was just like WCW's "fingerpoke" between Hulk Hogan&Kevin Nash except this one was actually entertaining&funny.
HBK vs. Owen Hart - Basically another average RAW match that resulted in interference&another beatdown by DX
WWF Title&Casket Match: HBK vs. Undertaker - This was actually one of the two matches on here that wasn't from RAW. This was from the Royal Rumble '98 and was the match that forced HBK to retire for years because of a serious back injury he suffered in this match. Anyways, Taker&HBK never have a bad match&this was no exception.
Non-sanctioned Match: HHH/New Age Outlaws/Savio Vega vs. Stone Cold/Cactus Jack/Chainsaw Charlie/Owen Hart - This was from No Way Out of '98 and was just an all out wild brawl full of weapons non-stop. However the real highlight came after the match when Austin gave a stunner to Chyna.
European Title Match: Triple H vs. Owen Hart - This really wasn't even a match as it was just Triple H insulting Owen Hart (who had a broken ankle) forcing him into a match which was just HHH pulling on Owen's ankle until he gave up. I guess this was here just like the other European Title match just to show classic DX manipulation.
So out of the eight matches put on here, only six of them are actual matches&only two go past the 10 minute mark. Again, they could have included the HBK vs. Ken Shamrock&HHH vs. Sgt. Slaughter matches from the DX PPV, HBK vs. British Bulldog for the European Title at One Night Only, or at least the WM14 matches involving DX. I know there were more matches from the DX involving those like X-Pac&The Outlaws but the focus of this DVD is on HBK&HHH.
As for which ones you want, it depends on what you want. If you want the documentry, get the VHS. If you want the matches, get the DVD.』
(Good but they could add a lot more!) 『I don't know why they don't sell this on dvd at amazon since I just picked it up at best buy and wanted to write a review about it. Anyway it has all the same matches on it though.
Mankind vs HBK: A solid match that starts DX when HHH, Chyna and Rick Rude "yes he was in DX once" all help Shawn pick up the win. There's a lot of back and forth action until Rick Rude nails Mankind with a chair and then Shawn hits Sweet Chin music. 8/10
Mankind and The Undertaker vs HHH and HBK: It ends with Shawn hitting Taker with a chair and making him bloody causing a DQ. 7/10
Triple H vs Bret Hart: Would've been better if we could've saw who would've won if HBK didn't knock out Bret with Sweet Chin Music outside the ring. HHH then wins by count-out. This one would've been a classic otherwise and Bret probably would've won. 7/10
WWE European Championship with HBK defending against HHH: This match is just a joke with the 2 of them just fooling around with HBK laying down for HHH to let him get the win and win the title. No rating but still entertaining
Shawn Michaels vs Owen Hart (world title): This is a solid match until we get yet another match with DX interference. Owen has the sharpshooter on HBK and HHH nails Owen with his crutch to cause the DQ ending. 7/10
HBK vs The Undertaker in a Casket match (World title): This is probably the best match on the dvd "yes I am reviewing the dvd and not the VHS version". It's a solid match but it doesn't have much of an ending either. The Outlaws and Savio Vega and other attack the Undertaker and then Kane comes out to make the save. So eventhough it's a great match with HBK taking a lot of bumps "it's even the match that messed up his back!" it's disapointing that no one won.
Anything Goes 8 man tag with Stone Cold, Cactus Jack, Terry Funk and Owen Hart vs Triple H, Savio Vega "taking an injured Shawn's place" and the Outlaws: This is also won of the best matches especially since it actually doesn't end by DQ! It's bloody with Cactus and Terry Funk taking a lot of bumps. Stone Cold eventually wins with a stunner on Road Dogg. After the matches he stuns HHH and Cyhna! 9/10
HHH vs Owen (European title on Raw): These two has way better matches following this match. Owen had a leg injury and Chyna takes out his leg outside the ring. Then HHH puts Owen in a leg lock for the submission to win the European title. Another one that's hardly a match but just to show how dominating DX was. 5/10 but not because the 2 aren't talented.
The WWE should release bonus discs for their dvds especially since most of them "like the Bret and Ric Flair dvds" are mssing great matches. Matches they could add:
X-Pac " he is shown on the back but he is nowhere to be seen on the dvd" vs D-Lo Brown (European title), X-Pac vs Dean Malenko "In Dean's debut", X-Pac vs Road Dogg in the King of Ring tournerment
The Outlaws vs Terry Funk and Mick Foley ( Tag titles) at WM, vs L.O.D., Road Dogg and X-Pac vs Billy Gunn and Chyna, Road Dogg vs Chyna in the King of Ring tournerment
Chyna vs Jeff Jarrett (IC title), vs Chris Jericho (IC title) vs Ivory (Women's title), Chyna vs HHH: she wasn't in DX in these matches I think but they show how DX led to her success.
HBK vs British Bulldog (European title) in England), vs Undertaker, (Hell in a Cell), vs Bret Hart (Screw Job match), vs Jim Neidhart on Raw, vs Vader on Raw, vs Ken Shamrock at the Degeneration X ppv (wotld title), HHH vs The Rock (World title) with Shawn as ref helping HHH pick up the win, former DX members colliding with HBK vs HHH at SummerSlam in Shawn's return to the ring.
HHH vs Sgt. Slaughter in a boot camp match, vs Owen Hart at WM (European title), The Rock in a Ladder match (IC title), HHH vs The Rock in a I Quit match on Raw (World title), vs X-Pac, w/ Stephanie vs Chris Beniot in his debut match on Smackdown, vs Shawn in Hell in a cell, DX reforming vs the Spirit Squard, DX vs the Spirit Squard at Saturday Night Mainevent in an Elimination tag, vs Vince and Shane at SummerSlam 2006.

(VHS way better then the dvd) 『I have the original WWF VHS release of this tape. When shopzone released the DX Package featuring this VHS now on dvd, I was excited. Boy was i wrong, I knew they where going to blur out the WWF logo. No big deal, but they've also EDITED out the cussing, and some of the offical footage the VHS had. The only thing good about the dvd is the eight extra matches and the cool menu screen. Do like I did first of all, transfer your VHS version to DVD, Way to go WWE.』
Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (The World at War - DVD Documentary) 『The definitive World War II documentary, emotionally gripping and edifying on virtually every level: excellent production values, with superb photographs, top-flight film footage and accurate descriptions of the sweeping political movements, gargantuan military engagements and profound human tragedies that defined the conflict - made even more compelling by means of a superb narrative from the legendary Laurence Olivier.』
(WITHOUT A DOUBT THE BEST WORLD WAR II DOCUMENTARY) 『I saw this series during the 1970s and recorded via VHS tapes because it had no peer about the detailed coverage of World War II. It overcomes being in black and white because of the in-depth coverage of the war, narration by Laurence Olivier, and the production of the film.
I teach American history and purchased the DVD to use in a prolonged study of World War II. Several segments have been previewed by selected students and has received high ratings from the "color" generation.
"World At War" will appeal to novice or expert about World War II and probably the well-versed person might take away from the series than the novice.』
(The best WWII documentary -- and possibly the best documentary period -- ever.) 『No documentary like this can ever be created again. The Second World War was the towering event of twentieth century, and indeed, perhaps of all human history. As a conflict which claimed over 60 million lives, saw the lowest depths of the human capacity for evil plumbed, and which left no part of the globe untouched, there is no other event in world history quite like it. And since it ushered in the age of nuclear weapons, there can never be another war like it again, for any clash of nations that ever occurred on such a scale hereafter would almost certainly see those weapons deployed, to the ruin of all. And beyond all this, perhaps there never was any other conflict where the enemy so clearly had to be fought, for the sake of the greater good, no other conflict where evil stood out so strongly. So World War Two will always occupy a unique place in our consciousness, and deservedly so.
Such a singularly important event in human history demands, as does nothing else, a singularly great documentary to commemorate it, and in "The World at War" this conflict has such an account. The artistic and historical merit of this documentary are simply unsurpassed. The only other video record of a great war that can compare to this one is Ken Burns' "The Civil War," and that is a very different sort of animal. I said that no documentary like this can ever be created again, and Burns' Civil War documentary is one proof of why. Since all those directly involved have passed from the scene, Burns' film was created, as any future WWII documentary must soon be, solely with the help of historians. As each day passes, more and more veterans of the Second World War pass on from this life. World War One is now, like the American Civil War, almost beyond the reach of living memory. Soon World War Two will be there as well. But "The World at War" was made during the 1970s, when many of the men who fought in that war, even some of the senior commanders, were alive and well, and able to offer their recollections of the conflict. Interviews with soldiers and sailors who fought in that war, of officers who led men in that war, or of civil servants and politicians who directed the war effort at home, and people who lived through that time, and saw life on the homefront, abound in this documentary, and offer a view of the event that is now swiftly passing beyond reach. Soon this window will be closed forever, so we are extremely fortunate that the makers of this series recorded these interviews. They personalize the war in a way that no history book, however well written, ever can. To see the faces and hear the voices of the people involved as they relate their experiences, conveys something that can be captured in no other way. When this is combined with the historical commentary, the archival footage, and the brilliant writing of the show, as narrated by the incomparable Laurence Olivier, it makes for a documentary film like no other.
Ever since this film debuted, it has aired continuously. Right now, even as this is written, there is some station or network somewhere that is airing it. Few programs indeed attain such immortality. All one need do is watch it, and the reason for its enduring popularity will be evident. If you own no other documentary account of The Second World War, buy this one. I cannot praise it highly enough. But I warn you, watching it will whet your appetite for more, and while you may seek out many more documentaries about World War Two, you'll never find another as good. So you may turn to books and other sources to fill the gaps in your knowledge. Then you may find, rather to your surprise, that this series has led you to learn a great deal more about the subject. And if there is any higher compliment to be paid to a documentary, I can't think of what it might be.』
(Awesome!) 『I have been very impressed watching this multi-part series. I saw it when it originally came out in 1974, but had forgotten a lot of it. Seeing it again, I have been very appreciative of the richess of the narration and the great video. Much better than what one can see on the History Channel.』
(The Best but Not Definitive) 『This series is the best one on WWII and it is doubtful that someone will make one better anytime soon. The one thing that will keep this series status as landmark is participation of real people from WWII like Holocaust survivors, Nazi figures like Speer, Denitz, Himmler's adjutant Karl Wolff or allied figures like Lord Mountbatten. Most of them are dead so any new series would have to go without them. Documentary material is good and unless someone unearthed something new in the past 35 years then there is nothing to add in this department. Unlike other WWII series covering one country only or just war battles, this one is offering extensive coverage of life during war in Germany, Japan, Great Britain, America, Russia and Netherlands. Thanks to this we know why Great Britain had better war economy than Germany and how America achieved unprecedented industrial production that ultimately crushed Germany and Japan. Without Americans, Churchill would permanently move to Washington DC while Stalin would wage guerrilla warfare against Germany on Kamchatka peninsula.
Unfortunately, this series can't be called definitive as many imply because there are serious shortcomings like trying to cover too many topics in just 26 episodes. Many people point out that various countries, battles or even outcome and cause of WWII were not covered in depth or not at all. It is hard to understand why Jeremy Isaacs never attempted to film more episodes after initial success of series. He admitted himself during interview that he missed a lot of events that should have been covered. Major problem with this series is that it was filmed at the height of Cold War in early '70s. There are many references to Vietnam and in general USSR and Stalin were presented in positive way. Looking from today's perspective this is quite laughable. Not once they mentioned 13 billion dollars lease Roosevelt gave to Stalin. Just imagine having 13 billion dollars in 1941 and what can you do with that money. I found on BBC web site that Russians obtained 450,000 trucks from Americans during WWII! One of German survivors from Berlin remembers Russian soldiers being full of chocolates. If she knew English she would probably read Hershey's on chocolate bar label. Where would Russians got chocolates? In Siberia maybe? It was not mentioned that beside T34 tanks Russians used Sherman tanks. After WWII was over, Stalin sent Sherman tanks to capture Teheran and Iran. Just imagine that irony! It is true that Russians fought heroically but was it because of patriotism or because of fear of Stalin and KGB. Series never mentioned KGB checkpoints around Stalingrad that prevented civilians and soldiers fleeing from ruined city. Anyone trying to flee was machine gunned to death by KGB. Russians worked and fought like slaves under Stalin's tyranny. Series never mentioned Stalin's order to imprison in gulags and then execute all those who surrendered to Germans or collaborated with them. Russians were mercilessly killed by Hitler and Stalin with no way out.
What we learn after 26 episodes is that appeasement to fanatics and lunatics lead to war. If France and Britain were pro-war in 1933 then Hitler would ended his career long before 1945. Why they let him rearm German army, take occupied Rhineland by French without a single shot fired and then sacrificed Austria and Czechoslovakia is still hard to understand. Even after their declaration of war to Germany in September of 1939 they stood still waiting for German army to attack them. We all know what happened later. One French general said in 1919 that WWI didn't end then but only provided 20-year armistice. Germans never felt defeated and that's why they started WWII to rectify their mistakes and finish their game from first war. Similar thing happened with the end of Cold War with collapse of Berlin wall 20 years ago. NATO tanks never arrived in Moscow and there was no NATO flag on top of Kremlin. Russians including Gorbachev still think, as Germans did, that they didn't lose Cold War. New fearless leader of Russia Putin is concerned about Russian minority in former Soviet states. He pledged their protection openly, being short of call for reunification. America and NATO these days try to appease Putin just to avoid any confrontation. Belarus will become Austria, Ukraine Poland and Georgia Czechoslovakia. Are we going to make the same mistake from 70 years ago?』 『Sir Jeremy Isaacs highly deserves the numerous awards for documentaries he has earned: the Royal Television Society's Desmond Davis Award, l'Ordre National du Mérit, an Emmy, and a knighthood from Queen Elizabeth II. His epicThe World at Warremains unsurpassed as the definitive visual history of World War II.
The Second World War was different from other wars in thousands of ways, one of which was the unparalleled scope of visual documents kept by the Axis and Allies of all their activities. As a result, this war is understood as much through written histories as it is through its powerful images. The Nazis were particularly thorough in documenting even the most abhorrent of the atrocities they were committing--in a surprising amount of color footage. The World at Warwas one of the first television documentaries that exploited these resources so completely, giving viewers an unbelievable visual guide to the greatest event in the 20th century. This is to say nothing of the excellent, comprehensible narrative. Some highlights:
A New Germany 1933-39: early German and Nazi documentation of Hitler's rise to power through the impending attack on Poland
Whirlwind: the early British losses in the blitz in the skies over Britain and in North Africa
Stalingrad: the turning point of the war and Germany's first defeat
Inside the Reich--Germany 1940-44: one of the most fascinating documentaries that exists on life inside Nazi Germany, fromLebensbornto the Hitler Youth
Morning: prior toSaving Private Ryan, one of the only unromanticized views of the Normandy invasion
Genocide: this film is one of the most widely shown introductions to the Holocaust
Japan 1941-45: althoughThe World at Waris decidedly focused more on the European theater, this is an important look into wartime Japan and its expansion--early 20th-century history that lead to Japan's role in World War II is superficial
The bomb: another widely shown documentary of the Manhattan Project, the Enola Gay, Hiroshima, and Nagasaki
The World at Warwill remain the definitive visual history of World War II, analogous to Gibbon'sDecline and Fall of the Roman Empire. No serious historian should be missingThe World at Warin a collection, and no student should leave school without having seen at least some of its salient episodes. Rarely is film so essential.--Erik J. Macki』
Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (SHWING!) 『One of the best comedies to come along in years, and to think that it began as a short sketch on SNL, but was later expanded to now two feature films. Wayne and Garth, are hilarious from the opening titles to the music of Queen, all the way to the end. The first film might be a little better than the second one.』
(Hey, Even An Old Geezer Can Laugh At This) 『As an older guy watching something geared more for a younger crowd, I would sit and watch this almost shaking my head in disbelief that I WAS watching this....and usually having a good time. It's brainless, but fun, like Mike Myers' stupid grin.
The humor is really stupid, silly, crude at times, innocent at times but funny many times. All that adds up to is an an hour-and-a-half of entertainment, so at least it succeeds in what it's trying to accomplish. So, even if it is far from a classy comedy, so what? How many are these days?
I can't knock something - even if this dumb - that makes me laugh. Apparently a lot of people agreed as it produced a sequel.』
(Great film, but Blu-Ray is not a massive improvement over the DVD) 『Wayne's World is directed by Penelope Spheeris (The Decline of Western Civilization.) The film stars Mike Myers (Austin Powers), Dana Carvey (This Is Spinal Tap), Tia Carrere (Jury Duty), Rob Lowe (St. Elmo's Fire), Brian Doyle-Murray (National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation), Ed O'Neill (Married With Children), and Donna Dixon. The film is based on the classic series of Saturday Night Live sketches of the same name, also starring Myers.
Wayne Campbell (Myers) and Garth Elgar (Carvey) are hold-over would-be rockers from the eighties. Wayne still lives in his parents' basement, and hosts his public access television show, Wayne's World, from there - a strange show that isn't afraid to poke fun at its guests. A television executive (Lowe) intends to acquire the rights to the show, so that he can exploi t it and make big bucks from the production. Along the way, Garth will pursue his dream woman (Dixon), Wayne will meet a rock star girlfriend (Carrere), and the twosome will hear plenty of bizarre theories and experiences from a psychotic donut shop owner (O'Neill.)
Wayne's World is a classic because it succeeds on so many levels. In addition to giving us interesting, funny characters, the movie throws comical scenes at us at lightning speed - and they succeed more often than they fall flat. Additionally, the film manages to make fun of just about every angle of the movie industry without ever losing its heart. Despite some harsh language here and there, it manages to succeed as a film without being explicit. Yes, it's a little bit dated almost two decades later. But when so many catchphrases from one movie become part of everyday American culture, you know the film has succeeded and cemented its own place as a classic piece of cinema (even if it goes against everything I usually call classics.)
There aren't enough good things to say about this movie. There is no shortage of stuff that will make you laugh here. In just over an hour-and-a-half, the movie pokes fun at the entertainment industry, product placement, alternate endings, public access television, and other films and genres - yet at the same time manages to tell an effective, comical story that, unlike so many other comedies, actually has a heart. Wayne's World may not have the impact it did during its initial release two decades ago, but there is no denying that this is a great little piece of cinema. You'll laugh until it hurts - and then you'll laugh some more.
Image and Sound: You'll laugh! You'll cry! You'll Hurl! And this time around, you'll be doing all three in 1080p and TrueHD! The transfer here is a bit underwhelming, but this was never really much of a "visual" movie. This transfer is a slight step up in detail from earlier DVD incarnations of the movie, but it's not a massive improvement over them. Where the disc really shines, though, is its TrueHD audio track, which really gets a chance to shine in loud scenes, and features improved clarity over earlier DVD counterparts. However, if you own the older DVD, there's really not much of a reason to upgrade. This is a good-looking and sounding disc, but it's not that much of an improvement over an upconverted DVD.
Special Features: There are no new special features here, just stuff ported over from the previous DVD release. First up is a Penelope Spheeris commentary track. No fan of the movie will be disappointed in this commentary - it goes into quite a bit of detail on the movie, and she has no shortage of info to share. Still, you'll wish Myers and Carvey had been on board. The other major feature is Extreme Close-Up, your standard obligatory "making of" featurette. Like the commentary, there's a lot of interesting information here, and fans won't want to pass it up. Closing out the features is the original theatrical trailer. All in all, these are nice little bonuses, I only wish they had included some new stuff here instead of just porting over (what few) bonus features were on the DVD.
Final Words: It's Wayne's World! Wayne's World! It's party time! It's excellent! And it's on Blu-Ray at long last! The film is an undeniable classic, even if it breaks all the rules for what I usually call a classic. If you already own the old DVD, this isn't worth the double dip since the upconverted DVD comes close to the quality of this disc anyhow. But if you don't already own the movie, this disc is a good bet. Get out of your parents' basement, get in the Mirthmobile, and head down to the store and pick up this disc. No fan should be disappointed, though only die-hards (who surely already own the film) need apply for this double dip. 』

(Blu-ray: Not much anything new since the DVD release but it all comes down if you want it for the 1080p transfer) 『1992. "Saturday Night Live" was on fire with its current comedy lineup and one of the show's more popular sketch was "WAYNE'S WORLD" which featured Wayne Campbell (Mike Myers) and Garth Algar (Dana Carvey), two rock n' roll fans who host a cable access show in Aurora, Illinois.
The film featured an all-star cast with Rob Lowe, Tia Carrere, Lara Flynn Boyle, Robert Patrick, Alice Cooper, Ione Skye and a several more notable talent and was commercially successful as it made $121.5 million in the US and on various online polls, has been selected in their top 100 comedy films of all time.
Because of the film's tight schedule as both Mike Myers and Dana Carvey had to film during the summer vacation and then head back to New York City for rehearsals for "Saturday Night Live", Producer Lorn Michaels tapped producer and director Penelope Spheeris ("The Little Rascals", "The Decline of Western Civilization Part II: The Metal Years", "Dudes", etc.) who knew how to shoot an entire film in slightly over a month's time but most importantly, her background with working on music videos and the top rock bands.
"Wayne's World" is a hilarious film with many jokes, multiple endings and various film parodies and overall, trying to find out if both Wayne and Garth's relationship as friends can last and how they can take back their show.
VIDEO&AUDIO:
"WAYNE'S WORLD" is featured in 1080p High Definition and overall, it's an OK but not a vibrant looking transfer. At times it seems a bit soft but it definitely looks cleaner and better than the original DVD which I did comparisons with.
After watching "WAYNE'S WORLD 2 and seeing the disappointing picture quality of the sequel, I wasn't sure how the first film would turn out on Blu-ray. Fortunately, the picture quality of the original is much better than the sequel. Where the sequel had plenty or dust particles and the white speckles, there are very few on this transfer.
As for audio, "WAYNE'S WORLD" features a Dolby TrueHD 5.1 lossless soundtrack (as well as French 2.0 Dolby Surround and Spanish Mono).
The film is primarily dialogue but it happens to be a film also strong when it comes to the utilization of music. There is a lot of music being utilized throughout the film. And I can tell you that the audio is quite clear but if I had one disappointment, the soundtrack of the overall film is primarily front channel usage. In fact, I don't think I've even heard my subwoofer being utilized during the whole film. If any bass was coming out, it was coming out through my two fronts.
Even during certain sequences that would utilize low frequency sounds, no subwoofer usage. I did hear my rear surround at work a few times, especially during the airplane sequence but overall, the soundtrack is also OK. Was hoping for better directional usage of audio throughout the whole 5.1.
But overall, picture and audio quality were average at best.
As for subtitles, subtitles are presented in English, English SDH, Spanish and Portuguese.
SPECIAL FEATURES:
"Wayne's World" comes with the same features from the original DVD release. Primarily the one commentary and one featurette.
* Audio Commentary by Director Penelope Spheeris- Actually, a very cool commentary by Director Spheeris. She comes off as a rock n' roll, free and anything goes kind of director. Laughing and just having fun as she talks about working with the guys, making sure she was strict to the schedule but allowing various scenes that she wanted, what Mike and Dana wanted and then working with the best footage during post-production. A lot of behind-the-scenes information from how Mike Myers was initially against the headbanging scene for "Bohemian Rhapsody" because he felt it wasn't funny to why she was happy that Tia Carrere was cast for the role and how her rock n' roll and SNL experience helped her for this film. I also found it interesting as Spheeris talked about how Lorne Michaels promotes this competitive nature for the comedians on "Saturday Night Live" and thus, this film that did feature a lot of improvisation, was about the characters utilizing their surroundings and what they would do on the scene when the camera was on them. * "Wayne's World Extreme Close-Up: Exclusive Cast&Crew Interviews" - (23:14) This featurette features interviews with Director Penelope Spheeris, Producer Lorne Michaels and the cast of "WAYNE'S WORLD". You also get interesting tidbits of information about the screen testing of the film from the "Cream of Some Young Guy" scene, the headbanging scene and how Mike Myers neck hurt from reshooting that scene over and over, Dana Carvey forgetting the words to "Bohemian Rhapsody", the laughing scene of Wayne and Garth under the airplane, the friendship of Mike Myers and Rob Lowe began with this film, how Dana Carvey based Garth's way of talking from his brother and much more. (In Standard Definition) * Theatrical Trailer - (2:03) The original theatrical trailer in HD.
JUDGMENT CALL:
I absolutely enjoyed "WAYNE'S WORLD" when it came out on film. The way it was cut and the overall wackiness and improvised scenes, the parodying of other films and TV shows and of course, the multiple endings. Everything seemed to work perfectly.
Mike Myers and Dana Carvey do a great job with their characters. The guys were in their element and of course Mike Myers improvising especially the Wayne and Cassandra bedroom scene was hilarious! Both men did a great job in making the audience feel these characters and just laugh with them (or at them).
I also believe that part of the benefit of this film's success is due to Director Penelope Spheeris's extensive music and rock n' roll background. She knew what she wanted to capture on film, she knew she wanted the rock music to be integral to the film and even learning from the Director's commentary of how the talent didn't feel certain scenes would be funny, but she insisted for the talent to do what she instructed (unfortunately, it's been reported that because of this, she was not tapped to direct the sequel which was a shame). But you have to give Spheeris some major credit, to cut a film in 32-34 days is just unheard of these days and even at that time but because some of the cast and crew were used to the quick schedule workaround from their years at "Saturday Night Live", everything came together.
But there were so many memorable moments from the film that will always stand out, most importantly the "Bohemian Rhapsody" scene with the guys singing the QUEEN song which probably, many people not familiar with QUEEN may have never heard of until it was shown over and over on MTV. If anything, music played a major role for this film and it was fun watching how it was utilized.
As for the Blu-ray transfer, definitely much better than the sequel but picture and audio quality was average at best. Special features were quite slim and it would have been awesome to see some sort of gag reel or deleted scenes.
For those who own the DVD and wonder if it's worth double dipping and repurchasing it on Blu-ray, it's up to you. If the 1080p High Definition transfer is important to you. The audio quality is not exactly reference quality and for special features, there really is nothing added to the Blu-ray version of this release. So, in comparing both the DVD and the Blu-ray, it all comes down to if you want the film on High Definition.
From a sketch on `Saturday Night Live' and becoming a full-feature film, 16 years later, `Wayne's World' is definitely a unique, hilarious and crazy classic comedy film worth watching!』 『TV'sSaturday Night Livehas been like the evil twin of the legendary alchemist's stone, which supposedly could turn lead into gold.SNLusually does the opposite, taking rich comic premises from short skits and extrapolating them into overblown and unfunny full-length films. ("The Coneheads"? Puh-leeze!) But this film proved to be the exception, thanks to Mike Myers's wonderfully rude lowbrow humor and his full-bodied understanding of who his character is. Wayne Campbell (Myers) and his nerdy pal Garth (Dana Carvey) are teens who live at home and have their own low-rent cable-access show in Aurora, Illinios, in which they celebrate their favorite female movie stars and heavy-metal bands. When a Chicago TV station smells a potential youth-audience ratings hit, the station's weasely executive (Rob Lowe) tries to coopt the show--and steal Wayne's new rock&roll girlfriend (Tia Carrere) at the same time. It's filled with all kinds of knowing spoofs of movie conventions, from Wayne talking to the camera (and forbidding other characters to do so) to hilariously self-conscious product placements and labeling a moment a "Gratuitous Sex Scene." Cobra
Usually ships in 24 hours Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (Great price, fast delivery, quiet , works) 『Item is quiet and has low no load current draw. Mine was<.2 amp battery draw when on and 0 when off. Worked as advertized but you cannot measure AC voltage with a cheap meter as it will read 20-30 VAC low because of the modified sine wave. The documentation is barely adequate in that it doesn't answer the most common questions. One has to go on-line to the Cobra site. Also the Power out in watts doesn't indicate until you get over 100 watts and then only in multiples of 100 with the display showing only 2 digits ie: 10 =100 20 =200 etc. Documentation did not explain this or I would have given it 5 stars. Also it doesn't work on a small craftsman floresent shop light. It won't light the bulb. Only blinks. I suspect there are other limitations because of the modified sine wave but I am happy with the price for the quality. I choose it over the cheap harbour freight models that had poor reviews for about the same price. My next inverter will be a pure sine wave inverter as even though this one says 3000 watt peak, it will still not start larger than 1/2 HP motors that fall within its specs. The documentation does confirm this.』
(cobra cpi 1500) 『very efficient and quiet. i have used many inverters in the past but this brand is what i will buy from now on.other brands' fan starting to go right away contributing to drainage of your battery.the cobra cpi 1575 starts only when it needs to and i am yet to see it heat up for a need for the fans to come on.buy this model and you'll not be dissappointed.』
(Works Flawlessly) 『I used this every day for a week at my remote cabin. I had loads that varied from 40 watts to 1750 watts. The inverter works great and the display is accurate.』
(Lasted less than 24 hours) 『Other reviewers don't seem to have had the problem I did, so this might be a good product but I must tell you my experience with it. I am very familiar with inverters and how to hook them up having lived off of solar power now for over ten years. When I first set up this inverter, the input voltage showed 12.3 volts, the same as my battery voltage but undr a 110 watt load the output wattage meter showed 0 (zero) watts. What I had plugged into the inverter was working fine (a small TV), so I assumed this meter was just broken. If that was all that was wrong I could have lived with it. The next morning I turned it on, turned on the same TV and within 20 minutes the picture on my TV slowly shrank down to a pinpoint and then shut off. There were no low voltage warning sounds. I checked my battery level and it was at 12.2 volts, the same 12.2 volts showed on the input meter on the inverter, output still showed zero, as it always did. I checked the output at all three of the outlets on the inverter and they showed zero. I turned the inverter off and then back on with the voltage meter still in one of the outlets and watched my meter go from 119 volts down to 30 volts, up to 80 volts and then back to zero. The whole time there were no warning sounds coming from the inverter. This fluctuation could very easily damage anything that was plugged into the inverter!!!!
The good news, Amazon's return system is very easy, didn't cost a penny to return it and I got a refund quickly. I thought of getting a replacement instead of a refund because of all the good reviews but decided not to press my luck, no equipment was damaged this time but why risk it again. If I could rate Amazon I would give them five stars but the inverter gets zero xtars since it didn't function as advertised, went dead under much lower load than it is rated for.』
(12VDC Wire size and fuse considerations) 『This review is in response to some comments regarding wire and fuse size selections for this inverter and others like it.
In response to other review quoting a table from the National Electric Code (NEC). While the table that was posted is correct for 115VAC (household voltage) is does not translate directly to 12VDC (automotive voltage). When dealing with a 12 volt system there is less concern with wires overheating, at least in the way that the NEC considers it, and far more concern with voltage drop. When running wiring a reasonable distance (a couple hundred feet or so) there is little concern with voltage drop with AC power. But when dealing with DC, simply increasing your wiring distance 5-10' can have a drastic effect on voltage drop. That is why this inverter should be wired with, at the very least, #4 wire and really should be installed with #2 or thicker, especially if you need to run wire 15 or 20 feet or more.
The purpose of a fuse in a DC system is to protect the rest of your electrical system in the event of a short. That is why you always want to install your fuse as close to the battery as possible (no more then 3' if you can help it). As far as the amperage goes, there is a really good quick reference chart for automotive wire size that can be found at Tessco's web site here:[Turns out I can't link to an outside page so I'll paste the contents of the table at the bottom]. But to boil it down, you can safely fuse a 12VDC circuit at 150, or 200 amps, or more on #4, #2 or #0 wire.
Now this unit at full load is something like 85% efficient. So if you do the math -- 1500 Watts / 12 Volts / .85 efficiency = ~147 amps, A 150 AMP FUSE IS REQUIRED. If you take peak power into account you would need to double that to a 300 amp fuse, but because the inverter cannot run at peak power for more then a moment, a slow-blow 150amp fuse may work just fine, or perhaps you could step up a 200amp. I wouldn't go all the way to a 300 amp fuse unless you really found that you needed it and had the inverted is wired in such a way that it could handle that level current (read: installed using very heavy gauge wire). Now if your vehicle is running while your inverter is working the amperage will be a little lower because your dealing with 14.4 VDC rather then 12 volts (watts = volts x amps -or- amps = watts / volts). But at the very least, a 150 amp ANL fuse is very good idea and not at all over sized.
Just a FYI on fuses, most car stereos are installed with AGU style fuses, but they only go up to 100 amps.
You will need an ANL style fuse to get one rated at 150 amps or more. See these links for examples: Kicker 09ANL150 150 Amp ROHS Compliant ANL Fuse - Package of 2 Scosche EWFH Single ANL Fuse Holder

How The Cobra Power Inverter Works The Cobra power inverter is an electronic product that has been designed and built to take low-voltage DC (Direct Current) power from your automobile or other low-voltage power supplies and convert it to standard 115 volt AC (Alternating Current) power like the current you have in your home. This conversion process thereby allows you to use many of your household appliances and electronic products in automobiles, RVs, boats, tractors, trucks, and virtually anywhere else.
Cobra 1500 Watt Output Waveform Some very sensitive electronic equipment might not operate satisfactorily on "square wave" or "modified sine wave" power. The output waveform of the Cobra Inverter is a "square wave" or "modified sine wave." It is a stepped waveform designed to have characteristics similar to the sine wave shape of utility power. A waveform of this nature is suitable for most AC loads, including linear and switching power suppliers used in electronic equipment, transformers, and motors.
AC receptacles With three ground AC receptacles, you can connect and power multiple devices at once.
USB Output The 5-Volt USB output allows charging and operation of modern portable devices, such as iPods, BlackBerrys, and cell phones.
Remote On/Off Switch Capable An optional Remote On/Off Switch can be connected to the Remote Jack, allowing you to turn the Cobra power inverter on or off from a convenient location when the inverter is installed out of reach.
Safety Features The CPI 1575 will notify you with a flashing meter and alarm sound when there is a power problem, and will shut down for protection in the following situations:
Current Overload Protection--If the inverter is overloaded, it will shut down to protect itself.
Short Circuit Protection--If the AC output of the inverter is short-circuited for one second or more, it will shut down to protect itself.
Low Voltage Protection--If the input voltage drops to 10.0V or less, the inverter will shut down to protect itself.
High Voltage Protection--If the DC input voltage rises above 15.0V, the inverter will shut down to protect itself.
Over Temperature Protection--If the internal temperature rises to 40 degrees C (104 degrees F), the inverter will shut down to protect itself.

Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (Big Improvment from Icandescent!) 『I have a 4D incandescent Mag Lite and I have used it dependably for years. I have always been happy with its performance and durability. I bought this flashlight because I was looking for something smaller with class Mag dependability. Man I love this thing! It is super bright and has the same rugged design. I use it regularly and I am not only enjoying the ease of carry as compared to my 4D but the increased visibility it provides me with. I highly recommend this light. 』
(The Standard for Flashlights) 『Flashlights have some die hard enthusiasts, and I do not count myself among their ranks. I purchased this flashlight knowing that Maglite is generally the standard for powerful and rugged flashlights. This was my first LED flashlight and I am very impressed by the intensity of the light that it throws and the distance that it can throw it. I did notice that when you adjust the beam you do get some "rings" in the light, but they did not have any effect on the satisfaction I have with the light. It isn't anything much worse than the old bulb-based light I upgraded from. The unit is very solid and has some heft in it just like all Maglites do, which is something that I appreciate. I am very happy with this purchase and would recommend this light to anyone who wants a good, solid flashlight and doesn't really care about spending a lot of money to get the best that money can buy.』
(Great flashlight) 『I've owned a number of Maglite products. This one is by far the best with it's LED light source.』
(Gift to my parents) 『I've always loved Maglite flashlights, more so because I am an avid trekker. But this one was a small gift for my parents back in India. With frequent power cuts, we've always scampered around for batteries or a good flashlight - right when we needed it the most. With this maglight - we have 1 less thing to worry about. Sturdy design, good angle of light, simple to use. My dad is happy to use it.』
(Mystery of "DL" Models Solved (Almost)) 『This is a follow-up to the issues raised in the review by Diemaker67 ("Yes but") posted on March 21, 2009, concerning US/non-US models and models with serial numbers starting with "DL". I've had many exchanges of e-mail with Maglite customer service. With the exception of one issue, I now have solid information which should clear things up a lot. Here goes.
(1) US/non-US Models. Units for US/non-US distribution are identical.
(2) Warranty. Units sold in the US, and in other countries, are covered by a "limited lifetime warranty". Units sold in *some* countries are sold with a *10 year limited warranty*. Maglite says that's only because business regulations in some countries do not permit a "limited lifetime warranty" to be offerred. Units being sold in the US with a "10 year limited warranty" are not grey market goods. Apparently some units are packaged with the incorrect inserts. Maglite will honor the "limited lifetime warranty". Since 10 years is a long time, this is really an academic issue. If you read the warranty, the LED is not covered, and that's the part that's most likely to go (except for the switch, maybe).
(3) "DL" models. "DL" does NOT indicate non-US models. Turns out there are two generations of LED models. The first gen ("D" models) have a replaceable LED. It has a spare krypton bulb in the tail cap. The second gen ("DL" models) have a non-replaceable LED and therefore does NOT have a spare bulb in the cap.
(4) Brightness. Maglite says there is no difference in brightness between first gen and second gen. However, if you Google "Maglite LED DL", you will find different information. Turns out there are geeky forums and blogs dedicated to flashlights. They call themselves "flashaholics". According to a couple of detailed posts, the second gen LED is much brighter than the first gen LED. In fact, there are a couple of posts that says a second gen light running on 2-D cell batteries (Sorry about all these D's, but bear with me. I'll also refrain from making wisecracks about DD's :-)) is much brighter than a first gen light running on 3-D cell batteries. Besides the improved LED, the reflector bowl has been redesigned. I can personally vouch for this. I was impressed enough with this light that I decided to order another. Amazon was selling the 3-D cell model for $6 less than the 2-D cell model, so I bought the larger one. Surprise, surprise, it's dimmer. Turns out it's a first gen model. Maglite says this should NOT be dimmer, and, if I mail it to them, they will check it out. But I need to pay to ship it out. There's no point in paying almost $10 to ship out a $21 unit.
Note added: The first gen is the same as the incandescent, except it has a removable LED module which can be swapped with the standard bulb. But this means that the light is not optimized for an LED, which has different optical properties. The second gen has been redesigned specifically for an integrated LED. That probably explains the improved performance, even though they are both rated for 3 watts.
5) How do you know what you are getting. Not easily. The only way to tell for sure if you have a second gen vs first gen is by looking at the serial number. First gen starts with "D"; second gen starts with "DL". However, if you order by mail, you obviously can't do that. Also, since they are blister packed, it's hard to do that in a store as well.
If you read some of the geek posts, there are some subtle differences in size and packaging. Note added: Compared side-by-side, the second gen has a deeper and shiner reflector bowl. If you look at the LED (turned off of course!) there also is a difference. All this is moot, of course, if you are ordering online. Even in a store, it's hard to tell because they are blister packed. And you have to know in advance what you look for.
But Maglite decided not to make an announcement of "New, improved, second gen" or anything of the sort. No explicit label on the package. I asked Maglite when second gen was introduced. No answer. From a web search, it appears to be recent, last two months or so. Second gen 2-D cell is definitely out. Not sure of availability of second gen 3-D cell and 4-D cell sizes. So there will be mixed inventory on store shelves and online warehouses. I think this is a mistake on Maglite's part. Customers like to know what they are getting. I guess this avoids clearance sales on first gen units. But remember, they insist there is no difference in brightness,so there is no need for an announcement. I think though that people would still want to know about the non-replaceable LED. And, if second gen does in fact have improved performance, I would think that would be a great selling point. But I'm an engineer, not a marketing guy.』 『Mag Mag L.E.D. 353443 By Mag』

I am not a big George Lucas fan and have never really cared for his Star Wars movies. Never was able to swollow that a Kansas farm boy is the long lost brother of British princess and the son of Ghengis Khan. When Howard came out I remembered a review with the heading 'George Lucas has laid an egg'. After a few promises from a friend who was a George Lucas fan, I watched it with him and was pleasantly surprised. It was an exceptional film, that was well paced, acted, and scripted. Don't be put off by the negative reviews of this film. George Lucas is the one of the most successful independant filmmakers of all time and the studios waited to pounce on something of his that was different enough to make a point. Still, after all this time, especially on YAHOO, critics like to beat up on this movie because they want to say that Lucas did make a bad movie. He did, several of them, but this is not one of them. Even though they had no choice but to put a man in a very elaborate duck suit, the effects hold up better than the original Star Wars. Check it out.』
(Some People Just DON'T Get It.) 『Loosely based upon the Marvel Comics' character created by Steve Gerber and artist Val Mayerik, the film was directed by Willard Huyck and produced by George Lucas. Despite all the negative reviews this movie garnered back in the "80's (mostly from the people whom were unconvinced to the look of the live-action puppet). I really thoroughly enjoyed watching this film on cable TV because; it had notable actors (Lea Thompson, Jeffrey Jones and Tim Robbins), pretty good special effects (the stop-motion animation), and some GREAT gags in my opinion (the scene from the diner is CLASSIC!). Yet despite the film's flaws I do think it does suspend some belief to a point, what do you think? What the movie had similar to the comic book series for me was the overall absurdity of predicaments Howard&Beverly's exploits would land them in, the eccentric characters, and the lampooning of 1980's pop-cultured society. It's just too bad that back then CGI wasn't fully developed and at the advanced stage as it is today for films. Maybe Howard the Duck would have achieved perhaps to say the least "popular cult status"?』
(Howard The Duck) 『Great classic movie. Watched as a kid&hope my kids can enjoy it as well.』
(THE DUCK IS A DOG) 『Look. Howard is not funny. He is not entertaining. The one liners are for insomniacs. The only things this picture has going for it are the music score (the background music, not the rock band) and the animation at the end. The rest is a buttock burner. Stay away from this one and add two hours to your life.』
(Simply, One of the BEST) 『This is one of my all-time favorites. I wore this one out on VHS. My only complaint.... WHY NO BLURAY?』 『If you concentrate on the fact thatHoward the Duckwas a notorious box office dud (still brought up today) and considered one of the worst films of the '80s, it's entirely possible to enjoy this special effects piffle. Howard, played by a special effect puppet, lives on a planet where ducks evolved instead of apes, but one day he's sucked into a vortex and deposited on Earth. There he befriends Beverly Switzler (Lea Thompson), lead singer for the Cherry Bombs, becomes their manager, and, oh yeah, saves the Earth from the Dark Overlords. Jeffrey Jones is the villain and Tim Robbins (!) is there for comic relief. And who can resist the culmination of synthesizer pop, theHoward the Ducktheme song, as realized by the Cherry Bombs? Usually ships in 24 hours Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (Watch the skies!) 『You know, I really think that you can trace a line from every sci-fi movie ever made back to this film and "Forbidden Planet".
The Thing is a true classic of the genre, beginning what we know as science fiction as well as many elements of good filmmaking, on what was at the time a low budget. Snappy dialog, likable characters, and some "thing" that is drinking their blood like high-test Miracle-Gro.
If you're seeing it for the first time, you have to notice the foreshadowing of "Alien"; the xenophobia, the claustrophobia..."there's something in here with us...we can't seem to find it...but it's finding US." Also the element of the good doctor wanting to preserve the creature for science...willing to trade the life of everyone on the team as well as his own to "save" the creature...shades of Ash, anyone? You'd almost bet that the scientific team here gets its paycheck from what will become Weyland/Yutani.
Carpenter's remake is an absolute classic on it's own; much more faithful to the original short story; but I think it unfair to call it a remake. This original film used elements of the source material, sure, but it's an entirely different film all on it's own (albeit an allegory for cold war paranoia), and it's unfair to compare the two.
Any film that can stand the test of time like this one has and still have the chill factor and feeling of dread that it provides is one for any sci-fi fan's collection, purist (as I am) or not.

(Still one of my favorites) 『They show this on TV a lot but having it at home for whenever I want to see it is great. The quality is good. I had to adjust the contrast for some scenes but overall it's easy to watch and who doesn't enjoy watching James Arness (Matt Dillon of Gunsmoke) as the Thing!』

(A Very 'Scary' Classic !) 『"The Thing From Another World", affectionately known by 'older kids', as simply "THE THING!" Is a must for every lover of fright. Although it is older and in black and white, it is well produced and believable! [Review by Ypsilee]』 『With its modest special effects, lean plot, and small cast of lesser stars, this 1951 thriller remains a sturdy blueprint for fusing horror and science fiction. The formula has been employed countless times since, fleshed out with more extensive and elaborate production values, and manned by higher profiled marquee names, but the results have yet to improve onThe Thing from Another World, Howard Hawks's lone foray into sci-fi.
The story begins as military airmen are dispatched to a remote Arctic research station where scientists have detected the crash of a spacecraft. An effort to retrieve the saucer-shaped vehicle fails, but the team returns to the station with the frozen body of its sole occupant. When the extraterrestrial pilot is accidentally thawed, the crew, headed by a tough-talking pilot (Kenneth Tobey), grapples with a massive, chlorophyll-based humanoid (James Arness) thirsty for blood and in no mood for galactic diplomacy.
Hawks takes only a production credit for this low-budget exercise, but his filmmaking style transcends Christian Nyby's nominal direction: rapid-fire, overlapping dialogue, an ensemble of comrades whose professionalism is tempered by wisecracks, and unsentimental female characters (embodied by feisty romantic interest Margaret Sheridan) recall Hawks's signature works, while propelling the plot over any potential gaps in credibility. It's hardly surprising, then, thatThe Thing from Another Worldremains among the most influential science fiction movies ever shot, or that it remains exciting entertainment a half century later.--Sam Sutherland』

Like many others who left feedback, I have very thick, long hair and bought this dryer in hopes of cutting down my drying time. Other reviews raved about hot powerful and hot this dryer was, but I don't fully agree. My drying time was 45 minutes and is still about 30-35 minutes. I know there are other dryers out there that do the trick, but for me this wasn't one of them. Also it is a pretty heavy device. If you don't feel like dealing with something heavier than the norm, this might not be for you.
To be fair, this dryer seems very sturdy and looks like it will last a long time. The extra pieces clip on and stay on (another problem I've had in the past). This is probably a perfect product for people with normal to semi-thick hair, but for me, it just wasn't something I would rave about. 』
(great dryer, but heavy) 『Dries hair quickly. Hair feels good. But its heavy and the switch is difficult to use. Sometimes I have a hard time turning it on. But its still worth buying because its a good dryer and a good price.』
(Awesome choice) 『I was a bit worried when I kept hearing how heavy this dryer is but it's not as bad as one would think so don't let that defer you in making a choice when it comes to a new hair dryer. I wish I found this before I bought my other one...it's quieter as well as it does a better blow dry without frizzes. My hair feels more healthy instead of the 'dried out' feel after drying.
I would highly recommend this tool and if you have a lot of other professional type tools - this will certainly be an asset to your collection.』
(Awesome!) 『I was impressed with the packaging for starters. I rushed into the bathroom to try this dryer out and I was amazed! This is the best hair dryer I have ever owned. Being able to brew a single cup at home using my Keurig Brewer instead of running to St@rbuck$ saves a bunch of money. Timothy's World Coffee is some of the best tasting coffee around. I prefer the rich bolder blends. I got the variety pack, as it allows me to taste different kinds and find out what I like and what I don't. My shipment came very quickly and was well packed. I have been enjoying my occasional cup of java a bit more often since it arrived.

Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (Microsoft Wireless Notebook Optical Mouse 3000) 『The mouse is reliable and it works great. The reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is that for a notebook mouse, I'd actually like it a bit smaller for better portability. As it is I had to end up using it for my desktop. For a desktop I'd like it a little bigger. Other than that, it's excellent.』
(Stopped working - on/off switch problem) 『I have had this mouse for 2 years. From the start it has been reluctant to switch on. This won't bother you if a desktop user, but having a laptop, it has finally become intolerable for me. The on/off switch is located under the mouse; when transporting the laptop, you remove the USB dongle and slot it under the mouse for storage; this switches the mouse off. Unfortunately, when you remove the USB dongle from the mouse (placing the dongle into your laptop port) the mouse remains off. I have tried remedies such as replacing battery, warming the battery with body heat, warming the mouse, flicking the on/off switch. All work with varying degrees of success. This weekend has been the last straw as it has taken me 3 days of jiggling, till finally it came back to life.』

I would consider the LaCie a professional external drive vs. a consumer external drive (usually smaller; lighter).』
(So far, so good) 『I have had the drive for about two weeks now and it does exactly what I need it to do. It works well with Time Machine, feels solid, doesn't make much noise and looks pretty good. (Sleeping?) 『Everything is good. I am using it through a USB and these are my only complaints. I usually don't shutdown my computer, but rather have it sleep/standby, and the disks don't turn off, but keep spinning. I don't mind, other than wondering if that will lessen its life. The auto backup is good, it just takes a lot of time and resources to do. I'd rather just drag and drop the files I really want to save. Occasionally the disks inside start to vibrate and make noise, so I've just had to hold it for a second and it goes back to silent. Other than that, this has been great! (Good, but expensive.) 『Good, works well, but really expensive for what it is. You can buy a painting brush and a real nice cloth for less than half that price.』
(Well built. Just what I needed.) 『I've been looking for something like this!
Great combo of two tools in one easy-to-carry tool. 1) One end has a little brush to clear bits of dust, etc. 2) The other end has a soft little scrubber thing for the tough spots.』
(Nikon Cleaning Pen) 『Well made and does what it should. Takes little room in my gear bag.』
(mhm) 『great if you need to clean your lens in a hurry. but the felt end leaves black marks on you if you touch it which kind of gets annoying. great buy though.』 『Nikon is a precision optical company with worldwide manufacturing, research and marketing capabilities. Usually ships in 24 hours Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (blurry pictures) 『I was suckered into the camera by all the positive reviews..... but I'm not impressed. All of my pictures have an orange tint and are blurry. Unless I'm taking a picture of something not moving. I wanted something that you could just press the button&take a picture. With this one you apparently have to press the button "just so". Not happy with my purchase!』
(Perfect pocket camera) 『This is my 3rd CoolPix camera, my last one was L17 which was destroyed by a camping mis-hap. The L20 was a nice upgrade with bigger LCD, a bit more zoom and a couple more mega-pixels. The only issue I've had with it is that during video play back (on the camera or watching on a PC) the video part will stop and the sound keeps going while zooming in or out. My previous L17 didn't have this issue.
Overall for under a 100 bucks I cannot complain. Well done Nikon!』
(Takes pretty Cool Pics...) 『So, Ive used a bunch of digital cameras in my life, but i had never really owned one. So, in preparation for my trip to Australia I decided to buy this Coolpix camera from Nikon. Now that my trip is over and after 700 pics taken in just over 3wks Down Under, I have to say the Nikon Coolpix is a pretty decent camera. Its one of the easiest cameras Ive ever used. Right out of the box, you pop in a digital media card for photo storage and then turn it on and you are ready to start shooting with the Auto Focus setting already enabled. This auto focus setting changes on the fly (which is good for beginning photo shooters) depending on the kind of shot your taking or time of day (sunlight or evening) your shooting photos. There are other focus modes available as well for more advanced photographers. There is also a video mode that allows you to shoot .avi videos. Has a great power saving function as well that turns off the camera after about 15 seconds of non-use as well. The one thing I dont really like about the camera is the slow turn on time. When you want to get a shot and need to take a quick photo, the Coolpix has a very slow turn on. It takes about 3 to 5 seconds before its ready for an actual picture. Otherwise, for the price I paid, Im very happy with the product...!』
(great, easy camera) 『Great, easy to use camera, for day-to-day use, love the bigger screen, easy on batteries, great price.』
(not what i was looking for...) 『i bought this camera when my fuji started taking bad pics...i thought it was too slow in between pics so i wanted something new...this camera isn't even as good as my old one...need a point and shoot that isn't so slow but takes clear pics...i sent this one back and will pay more for a better one...』 『The Coolpix L20 is a great camera for beginners just getting started in digital photography. Easy to use and fully featured the Coolpix L20 will delight it's users with great pictures, fun features and a huge 3.0-inch display at a surprisingly affordable price.』

Usually ships in 24 hours Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (Great mp3 player) 『This is a great mp3 player. For under $70 I've got 8gb of memory and for $20 I added another 8gb with the external memory chip. Works great with my windows Xp operating system. The support line was awsome as I had some music files I had created from old cassette tapes that initally would not play. The hot line walked me through converting my files and presto they played great. WOuld definitly recomend this player. Can't beat it for the $$$.』
(Great MP3 Player!) 『I just upgraded my Sansa Fuze 4G MP3 player to this 8G player. I love it!
It is very easy to load music onto and the menu is very easy to follow - I hardly had to look at the instructions! :)
This MP3 player has great sound quality. The ear phones that come with it are just fine - good sound - but they are not as comfortable in my ear as the "earbud" type - so I replaced them with earbuds and have the originals for a spare set. The player has an equalizer that allows you to adjust the output - and it is just fine for me! Volume is good also - I don't turn it all the way up and am very happy no matter what I am listening to.
I use this to listen to music and to chapters of the Bible in spoken word and it is great for both.
It also allows me to sort music by album, artist and more and to shuffle within playlists or across all playlists.
The graphics are excellent also - it has album cover art and I have loaded some of my own photos onto the pl
