『I bought 2. A little "cheap" in construction. I set both to make sure I don't accidentally bump the nobs and turn one alarm off. But I like the softer beeps. So one is OK. I really wanted one that would set forward or backward. However, the second one I didn't get out of the box until I had company since I bought if for the spare bedroom and it doesn't work at all. Now since it is past my 30 days, I guess I am out of luck.』

(It's basic and it works)

『Picked up this little alarm clock because I was looking for something that had an adjustable display. I like my alarm clocked dim when I try to sleep and this little alarm clock was just dim enough on the lowest dimmer setting.

The only problem I have is that it's too light! Everytime I touch a button on this thing it moves around on the top of my nightstand. I wish Sony would have added some stickier feet to the bottom of it. It's a little annoying to have to keep putting it back in it's place but it's a minor complaint.』

『I really loved my previous dual alarm, but it was backlit and just WAY too bright for me. After a ton of searching, I ended up with this clock. I pretty much only use the radio alarm. All in all this is a good buy for the money.

PROS:
1. Light has 3 settings. Dimmest is kind of dim to see in a brightly lit room, but also dim emough so as not to be distracting and annoying when trying to sleep in a dark room. This was very important to me (I had to cover the previous one up with a tissue each night to dim it!) and I'm happy with it.
2. Very easy to set (and reset) each alarm. No buttons to push - each of the alarm settings just has a dial you turn to get to the right time and to turn it on or off. Very easy. They are totally independent, so you could have one alarm set for the AM with the radio and one alarm set for the PM with the buzzer and both would work.
3. Excellent price.
4. Custom snooze - hit the button once for 10 min snooze, hit it twice for 20 min snooze, etc. I often forget about this feature in the AM, but it is really nice if I can ever remember to hit it twice!
5. No external antenna wire.
6. Other reviewers have mentioned the limitations of the auto-set feature. Luckily I'm Eastern Time Zone so it was easiest for me and I've had no problems with it.

CONS:
1. My old alarm would automatically reset the alarm for the next day until you turned it off. I was looking for one that did that OR had M-F/weekend settings, but couldn't find one that was dim enough. So this one I have to remember to set each night before bed.
2. No digital tuner or fave stations settings. Not a huge problem, but would be a nice feature.
3. Lights indicating the alarm settings could be more clear.
4. It could be a but smaller and sleeker, but it's an alarm clock, so whatever.

『I've always wanted one of these but always convinced myself that I didn't need it, didn't have the room, and that I could do everything I wanted by hand. Let me tell you, I got this as a gift about a month ago and I use it all the time. Recipes that I wouldn't have thought about like roasting my own peppers and tomatoes into a delicious pasta sauce are now easy as pie. My only complaints about the mixer is that I wish that the smaller food chop bowl didn't sit inside the big bowl when you use it. The reason you want to use a little chopper is so you don't have to clean the big one, but in this case it just means you have more to clean! I love that all of the other tools and blades that come with it come in their own storage box but I wish the box was stronger so I could store the processor on top of it, or I wish that I could put it on its side without everything falling out to take up less space in my cupboards when not in use. The storage box has room to put a couple more things in it (or so it looks) but I have no idea what they are, it would be good for them to include in the manual a layout of what goes where in that box, and what these mysterious additions to the set could be. All in all, my criticism is minor and the product functions flawlessly. I just wish I bought this sooner. The pretty pink matches my mixer, blender, and hand mixer.』

『Well actually I have not used the 2 of these that I bought for wedding presents, but I have my old one, which we use often. These look similiar. Kitchenaid quality is great. These are very robust, except, perhaps you have to be careful of the little plastic insert in the lid where the little cutter-blade holder goes. I'm hoping that KItchenaid has not lowered the quality of this product. ( Like they apparently have with their great blender KSB5. They don't make the old KSB5 blender with the glass carafe and the sturdy motor that we run for 5 minutes at a time to grind soaked lentils and rice in water... Anyway, enough about my grief over their blender, which is no longer available for gifts. We're supposed to be reviewing the food processor.) We have a blender w. lots of mojo that we use for "wet" stuff,&I am pretty effecient w. the knife. But you need a food processor for grating, and for chopping dry stuff. We use this food processor for:
1. small cup&small "propeller" blade for: chutneys&ginger/garlic processing b) chopping nuts
2. big cup and big "propeller" blade for: a) making cake icing - just turn it on and slowly pour stuff in b) sometimes process curries into smooth curries - we only use it instead of the blender if it is already "dirty" with carrots c) large quantities of chutney ingredients, including fresh coconut, peanuts
3. big cup w. rotary graters: a) grated carrots (all kids seem to love carrot salad) b) grated cheese (we make in large quantities and freeze)
Motor never sounds strained or tired&we tend to process in large quantities for serving 12-50 people.
This food processor does *not* work well for grinding small quantities of spices. (they should have an "itsy bitsy" cup available for purchase.) Instead I use a cheap $15 coffee grinder - gingerly because it can overheat, and sift through a tea-strainer. (Neat trick: You clean the coffee grinder by grinding some rice in it.)
(If I only had money for one or the other, I would buy a good-quality blender instead of this.)
Did I mention that the base is designed to be very easy to clean? The base is really heavy, but hey, you want a powerful motor, right? I don't know if it is possible to make it lighter.
Did I mention that it is pretty darn quiet?
BTW, it comes with plenty of nice grater wheels and propellor choppers and a nice case for them. But if you want to make whipped cream/ whipped eggs you have to buy the attachment ($25!!!)

I'm not giving it 5 stars because:
Lid is o.k., but a bit flimsy. Optional egg whip attachment costs too much. No "itsy bitsy" cup available for grinding spices.』

『We love this singer. I also have quite a few of her songs from her 'Judaica' album which led me to this one. Although the songs from the former album are also great (especially Keter and Naci en Alamo), sometimes her voice sounds a little forced and unnaturally gruff. It's a pity because she has one of the most exquisite voices I've ever heard and luckily it shows itself completely in this album. My husband could, and does, listen to "Una Noche Mas" all day and all night long. I love Adio Kerida, Komo la Roza and Perdono. Big, big thumbs up for this album!』

『It began for me like this, in 1989 or thereabouts, I was flipping through channels on the telly and happened upon the tail end of a documentary on China. I remember little of the program, save the ending. As the credits rolled a young Chinese woman was playing a stringed instrument that I thought at the time was a samisen (gives you an idea how long it had been since I'd seen one of those). I know now it was a pipa. Her performance was strikingly virtuosic. I was amazed at both her amazing technique and equally, the wonderful sounds she was coaxing from this unique instrument. Though I could see the pipa was lute-like, its sound reminded me of the guitar and the banjo, but with a level of sonority that dwarfed both. The player executed what American musicians would call trills and minor bends on the strings that gave the instrument an aural tactile quality that was quite haunting. I was blown away.

Flash ahead 17 years.

I was walking through the Xavier University Library near the magazine section and happened upon an issue of World Literature Today. Famed cellist Yo-Yo Ma was on the cover and there was a blurb about his Silk Road Project. Being a fan of Ma, I decided to pull the mag and check out the article. On one of the pages there was a picture of Yo-Yo Ma, and two other musicians, one of them, a woman, playing a pipa. When I saw the instrument I immediately flashed back to the closing of the documentary 17 years before. The woman playing the pipa was Wu Man. Later, I came here to seek the Silk Road recordings for samples, then on a whim clicked on the link to Wu Man, saw pipa: from a distance, listened to samples and was instantly hooked.

Pipa from a distance is a remarkable recording. Wu Man manages to give the listener a taste of tradition and the contemporary, and at times the surreal. The pipa is the lute of China, with a history spanning two millennia. Its unique voice is not unlike the American banjo at times, but the pipa's dynamic range is far greater. Wearing artificial nails taped on all fingers of the right hand, a master pipa player can coax all manner of sounds from the instrument; individual notes can burst from the instrument in a staccato cascade, picking patterns that sound like rainfall, strings are sometimes trilled as in Blues, chords can be either delicate or thunderous. In capable hands, the pipa can be a formidable means of self expression, and Wu Man conjures the magical on this breathtaking recording.

The blend of musical forms is adventurous and amazing. There is the tranquil first track, "Invocation". Man wafts over the sounds of bells and e-bowed electric guitar, with the use of sound manipulation, the piece is both meditatively traditional, yet bordering on the mildly psychedelic.

"Dancing" is a joyous tune. This piece includes banjo and it compliments the pipa well. Their voices are similar, yet so different, as they call back and forth. The didgeridoo is used to good effect here and elsewhere on the recording.

"Journey" displays the lyrical side of the pipa. Lilting and graceful, yet powerful, Wu Man glides through the piece like a bird in flight. Tabla samples, shaker and didgeridoo provide gentle accompaniment. This is one of my favorites on the CD. I often leave it looped to bask in the beauty of it.

"Hangzhou Blues" was quite a surprise. Wu Man plugs in, connecting her pipa to a wah wah pedal and into an amp. I had this image of her sitting next to a Marshall stack, pipa induced feedback rising behind her. You'd think this wouldn't work, but it exceeded my expectations. The sound is otherworldly, and massive. I had to remind myself she was playing a pipa. This track stands out from the others in sheer daring. She doesn't overplay her hand, and her technique transferred well to the electric context. Hendrix would have loved it (of course, the pipa acoustically would have stunned him).

"Vincent's Tune" is another favorite. The piece slowly builds to a climax that made me think of Meredith Monk, the screeching "toy" used at the end comes very close to sounding like a human voice. The piece exudes an almost overwhelming exuberance.

The last track I'd like to comment on is one of the solo pipa pieces, "Ambushed Again" The pipa alone is incredible. As a solo instrument one can hear how versatile the pipa can be in the right hands. Wu Man bears down on the instrument, drawing out its subtleties and its thunder. Any rock guitarist could appreciate the edgy chordal passage of "Ambushed Again". Man's rhythmic sense shines through on this piece; darting back and forth like a boxer, until the pipa sounds like its being shaken to pieces.

This recording is a great place to start for the novice to pipa music. Here it is very accessible and beautifully produced. Still, one should not overlook the classical pipa music of China. Wu Man has a two disk set of this traditional music. "From A Distance" clearly shows how well she works in collaboration, but alone she is a wonder to behold. I can only hope I get the chance to see her live.

『What an interesting CD. Pipa from a Distance presents an exciting blend of ancient styles and modern sounds. Very interesting to the ear. Some selections are unusual - almost irritating (but so is Led Zepplin and I own all of those CDs) - but overall a CD for the person who likes variety and sometimes the unusual.

『I bought this for my husband.We had seen it before and expected this to be the same, but it isn't quite.The acting is first-rate.Photography is beautiful-all those idyllic country scenes.It is of course a tragedy.Depending on ones viewpoint they either get their just deserts or they should just go off into the sunset,family and responsibilities shrugged off.I was pleased with the speed of delivery and service.』

『I'd wanted to see this acclaimed film for a long time, after missing it when it first appeared some 4 decades ago -- but I wondered how those intervening 4 decades would affect my experience of watching it. Well, it was a remarkable experience!

It's true that some of the film's power has been diluted by the use of its iconic imagery in countless commercials. We've seen the gorgeous look so many times that we can't come to it with fresh eyes any longer. Even so, the exquisite cinematography remains so lush&enveloping that you can practically feel it caressing your senses like fine, brilliant, perfumed silk.

The story is simple, following the impossibly romantic passion between two lovers striving to escape from the world. And of course it invariably descends into romantic tragedy, languidly beautiful to the bitter end. The two leads convincingly capture the irresistible pull of youth&beauty&gloriously naive romance. Who among us hasn't wanted to live in a perfect, golden bubble with his or her beloved at some point? Yet a darker thread begins to appear as their idyll collides with cold reality.

What's especially interesting to me is how a period film such as this reflects two periods: the historical one in which it's set, and the one in which it was made. The same story filmed in the 1950s, or in the 1990s, would look&feel very different! This film is clearly as much about the 1960s as it is about late 19th century Sweden. And as such, it provides a fascinating glimpse into a way of seeing&experiencing the world that must seem strange&foreign to many younger viewers -- stranger, perhaps, than the 19th century in which it's set.

It's not a film for those seeking a strong narrative, or probing psychological insight. Better to look on it as an exquisite tone poem ... perhaps a little too rich for some tastes, I'm sure. You can't watch too many films like this at once, any more than you could make a dinner out of dessert. But every once in awhile, it's good to simply indulge yourself. For those times, this film is highly recommended!

(Too beautiful to live, too beautiful to truly love)

『The film that launched a thousand copycat hairspray ads, and certainly more parodied than actually seen these days, Elvira Madigan is as light as a butterfly floating on the breeze - a beautiful to look at but short-lived tale of two doomed runaway lovers who, being Swedish, naturally end up committing suicide. Pia Degermark is beautiful, Thommy Berggren is a more beautiful Oskar Werner lookalike, the scenery is beautiful, the Mozart and Vivaldi soundtrack is beautiful, the photography is beautiful, the spilled wine that's the closest we get to seeing any blood is beautiful and even the one brief bit of vomiting onscreen isn't entirely ugly. It's pleasant enough and it's easy to understand its popularity, but it's too beautiful to truly love.』

『I saw this film once, in 1967 when it first came out, and I've never forgotten it. I was 21 years old, engaged, and totally enamored with love. The lovers were beautifully filmed, and their love was gloriously portrayed. But then reality intruded. Both the beauty of their love and the tragic ending have stayed with me - running through the grass chasing butterflies does not pay the bills or fill your growling belly; having a realistic plan for your life does that. It does not matter if you are gorgeous and madly in love, you can't avoid needing to work, face responsibility, and survive. I can't say that I always took the film's message to heart, but in the 40 years hence I have nonetheless reminded myself of it many times over. My 1967 love didn't last - reality intervened - but my second has lasted for 35 years. We mainly strool through the grass now, but we evolved from chasing butterflies by basing our love on its reality as well as its fantasy.』

Set in an idyllic Danish forest in 1859 and loosely based on an actual double-suicide, this lushly photographed, quietly seductive film presents a richly romantic tragedy while suggesting that the most intense form of love resembles a kind of blissful insanity. The inseparable lovers in this case are a married Swedish army lieutenant named Sixten (Thommy Berggren) who's gone absent without leave, and the radiantly beautiful Elvira Madigan (Pia Degermark), a Danish tightrope walker who's abandoned her popular position in a traveling circus. Together they have no use for the distractions of the real world; they live only for each other, sharing simple pleasures, spontaneous intimacy, and a seemingly unlimited supply of wild berries, wine, and leisure time. As Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 21 dominates the soundtrack, Sixten and Elvira chase butterflies (and each other) through a peaceful meadow, at which point the movie practically oozes with romantic perfection. (When most people think of "art-house" movies of the 1960s, they're most likely thinking of movies such as this--although the lovemaking here is nothing if not tamely discreet.)

Swedish director Bo Widerberg wrote, directed, and edited this film and makes full use of Jorgen Persson's soft, sensual cinematography. Though its plot is almost nonexistent, the film is arrestingly beautiful and the almost-too-attractive actors bring naturalness and depth to their performances, elevating this tale of doomed love above the level of gushy sentiment. For all of its surface appeal,Elvira Madiganis an intelligent film, and Widerberg builds toward genuine tragedy without compromising the dream-like idealism of Sixten and Elvira's unconditional love. Widerberg also inserts a few hints of casual irony, as when Elvira sells a portrait of herself that was drawn by a "cripple" at a cafe in Paris; neither she nor the pawnshop owner recognizes the artist's signature as that of Toulouse-Lautrec! These little grace notes enhance this otherwise lightweight film, and while the tragedy never achieves Shakespearean proportions, this is nevertheless an alluring, introspective portrait of romance at its most sublimely emotional extreme.--Jeff Shannon』

(Inconsistencies)

『It just might be me but I see some inconsistencies. The show must have taken years to film because either the kids grew up or there are different kids towards the end. It does not look like Mika Boorem in the segment "Hot, Hot, Hot", In the segment "Set Your Name Free"
the lead-in looks different than the song itself as far as Caitlin Wachs, in the song she resembles Mary-Kate or Ashley Olsen. Also in the same segment one minute Brenden Clark has sunglasses on his head, then no sunglasses, then sunglasses, then no sunglasses. There must have been some editing. Actually to me it looks like Mary-Kate or Ashley Olsen is also in the next segment "Surfin' Safari". In the segment "Set Your Name Free" Brenden Clark looks taller than Mika Boorem, but in the lead-in segment to "Three Littles Fishies" where they are taking the pictures Mika looks taller than Brenden, but in the last segments Brenden looks taller than Mika again. I like the show despite these inconsistencies.』

(Not as Fun as "Disneyland Fun," But...)

『After my infant daughter so enjoyed the "Disneyland Fun" DVD, I decided to get this one for her. While she enjoys seeing the costumed Disney characters and the lively songs, she did not enjoy this one as much and neither did I. Filmed on location at Walt Disney World in 1995, this video features a group of very hyper children dancing and singing alongside the characters.

Grown-ups familiar with the Disney parks will enjoy spotting the different Florida locations as backdrop. Scenes were filmed outside the Grand Floridian and Polynesian resorts, near Fort Wilderness, in World Showcase lagoon at Epcot, and even at the backlot of the MGM Studios (doubling unconvincingly for the childrens' own homes and neighborhood).

I was disappointed to see that, unlike the "Disneyland Fun" DVD, this one did not offer a second bonus program in a different language. "Disneyland Fun" offers an entirely different second program shot at Disneyland Paris which doubles the running time of that DVD to one hour. My advice is to purchase that one instead, but if you want two or more singalong DVDs, this one is a pretty good second choice.』

(Fumbly yet unobtrusive)

『I'd wanted a small blade for opening packages and a small screwdriver to carry with me all the time. I've had this mini tool on my key chain for a month now and it is unobtrusive but not quite as functional as I'd hoped.

First, it is difficult to take off of key ring with out dropping one or the other.
Second, I don't actually have my keys in pocket vary much, especially at home, which is where I need a tool most often. No keys means no tool nearby.
Third, it is very unobtrusive. It is a half inch longer than a std house key but still shorter than my car key. I usually forget I have it with me.
Fourth, it does not come open on its own, if fact it's stiff to open, and the tip does not poke or scratch at all.

After having it for a while I think that I will also carry a small multi-tool on my belt and keep this with me as a backup.』

(Almost perfect)

『I was looking for a tiny pocket knife to replace one I lost recently. It needed to be small and, most importantly, it couldn't be bulky. This one fit the bill almost perfectly. My only complaint is that it could be a little shorter, however, it is almost the same length at my Honda Odyssey key and fits my pocket easily. Because of their diminutive size, I don't plan on using the screw drivers or the bottle opener but it's nice to know they are there if necessary. The device detaches very easily from your keychain just by opening it up which makes it very handy to use. Just be careful when opening as the knife is extremely sharp.』

『I have owned 2 of these, I love this tool. I have seen a lot of reviews about the lock breaking, but I have carried one for two years and never had an issue with the lock. I think some people are really hard on their tools or they just really pull too hard when the lock is still engaged. This is the best leatherman they make for edc, at least for us normal guys. I don't really care for the wave or charge models because of the nasty pinch point where the blades meet. I had a wave for twenty four hours and managed to shave my thumb three times. For a quick knife, I carry a skeletool along with my blast. The screwdrivers are perfect. I think the bit drivers on the other models are fine, but they are really short and have no pry value at all. I know Leatherman says the screwdrivers aren't meant to be used as pry bars but let's face it, we all need a small prybar at one point or another. The bit drivers are great to have a lot of bits because you can buy the bit kits and they are really light weight, I use them in my skeletool. To the guys who have leather sheath issues, try a little harder, it is not too short and there is ample room, the problem is the rivets that hold the bottom together, they stick out a ways and need to be worn down. It is a little inconvenient but I don't buy a tool for the sheath.』

『I've had a Leatherman on my belt since 1993. I've still got my first one and it works fine, but when I saw the combination of bits on the Blast, I decided it was time to upgrade. The leather sheath that came with it, however, was garbage. It was a good half-inch too short for the tool. Fortunately, I bought the removable bit driver, which came with a nice Cordura sheath that is the right size for both the bit driver and the Blast. I really like the Blast. It is a great tool, but I wouldn't recommend buying it without the bit driver, for the sheath alone.』

(Fabulous Scale)

『This scale is great. Once you calibrate it, it's easy-peasey. It was a recommendation from a friend and she loves it too. I would highly reccomend this product!』

(Accurate and easy to use)

『I received the scale on time and perfectly wrapped. It comes with batteries and if you read the manual its pretty straight forward to create the user profiles. Four user profiles are available to save, but anyone can easily input their info to get accurate body fat and BMI ratings.
It automatically turns off after 5 minutes of inactivity which i think its great to save the battery life!

(Weight only - forget about body fat&BMI)

『I have had this scale for 7 months. It seems to do a good job of showing my weight. However, it rarely gives anything other than error codes for body fat % and body mass index. I follow all the instructions for set up and use. The only time I get anything other than ERR2 or ERR4 for body fat % or BMI is if I use the scale immediately after stepping out of the shower. I've tried dampening my feet and all the other suggestions but nothing else works.

When it does show a body fat %, the number is not even close to being accurate. I have calculated my body fat % using other methods and the Omron doubles the result.

I could have gotten a digital scale for weight only for a lot less.』

『Although it looks like a solid scale (it is made by Omron, so it should be), it does not have the option for Kgs. Amazon displays this item together with HBF 500 so a lot of comments are addressed towards HBF 500. Thus it was really confusing finding information about the weight units. Also, I think you had to keep pushing the button to turn it on/off, although it could be touch sensitive but i never tried it. I returned it back and bought an Escali scale.』

Key User Features

The Blast features all-locking blades. To release the interior blades, all you have to do is press the grooved portion of the push-lock button and carefully rotate the blade. The regular and hard-wire cutters are located within the plier jaws, and the straight knife blades may be easily sharpened using standard sharpening methods.

To access the interior features of the Blast, just grip the handles and swing them open. Each interior blade can be opened using the nail nicks, and so can the scissors. When the scissors are fully extended, they lock securely into place for safety and ease of use.

Optional Accessories (not included)

The Removable Bit Driver Accessory is sold separately, and makes a great addition to the Blast multitool. This removable bit driver works by installing right on top of the integrated Phillips screwdriver blade. You can also add the Universal Tool Adapter to your Blast arsenal. This adapter is a standard 1/4-inch hex drive that locks in three positions.
