『Irreverant movie that I first saw when it came to the theater. As it says on the cover something to offend everyone. It is just plan silly and funny. Mel Brooks is very funny.

(A hit-and-miss history lesson from Mel)
『The moment I saw the opening scene with our shaggy forefathers reaching for the sky--and then dropping their hands to masturbate--I knew this was going to be a crude&bawdy Mel Brooks comedy. The bad news: Written solely by Brooks and, of course, directed by him, any failings the movie has rests squarely on his shoulders. Being an episodic collection of moments in history, it has so many highs&lows that you're laughing out loud one minute and groaning the next. The pace tends to ramble on, making the film feel longer than it really is. The good news: The cast reads like an alumni of "Mel Brooks movie graduates"...Madeline Kahn, Harvey Korman, Ron Carey, Dom DeLuise, Cloris Leachman...plus, guest appearances by everyone from Hugh Hefner&Henny Youngman to Bea Arthur&the great dancer-actor Gregory Hines (the latter is quite funny in this one). My faves: Mel's former T.V. "boss", the great Sid Caesar, does some ingenious pantomime in the "Stone Age" segment; the satirization of "The Last Supper" painting; the overblown Spanish Inquisition production number (you have to admire a mind that can come up with such ribald lunacy); and the French Revolution (Mel is raunchy fun here as King "It's Good to be the King" Louis).
But the bit that's probably the funniest is the coming attractions for "Part 2", with "Hitler on Ice", a Viking funeral&"Jews in Space" (Mel's spoofing of "Star Wars", years before "Spaceballs" came along).
This is a Brooks comedy that's pretty much a mixed offering: Some parts you'll like, and others, you'll dislike. It depends on your tastes.』

『This is the entertaining musical set in Scotland. The plot is pretty basic- a young American and his alcoholic friend want to go hiking in the highlands, and encounter a magic town which only appears once a year. Tommy (the hero) falls for a villager, and they spend time courting. The villager's sister is going to be married, and the two Americans are invited. Unfortunately, tragedy strikes, and a young scorned suitor (Harry Beaton), decides to leave the village which would break the miracle which protects the village and curse everyone.

I have long liked this film, although, there are several musical numbers that I could do with out as they are protracted and overly sentimental. I think the costuming is beautiful, as are the voices of the singers. As with most musicals... The plot isn't terribly deep... Don't expect an explanation as why people can emigrate to Brigadoon (for instance) and yet disatisfied people may never leave, or why a village of supposedly God-fearing people are so afraid of Witches. It seems the easy answer to their problems would be to run the witches out of town. What reason to make the entire village disappear?

I've always sympathized with Harry Beacham as the scorned 'other man.' It seems cruel that he must be trapped in Brigadoon, against his will and forced to watch his love marry.

4 stars. Beautiul singing, excellent sets, nice acting... But not particularly deep.』

『Vincente Minnelli's film of Brigadoon suffers greatly from its reliance on studio recreations of the Scottish Highlands. Instead of shooting on location, MGM provided very fake-looking scenery and landscapes, and although these perhaps add to the image of Brigadoon as a mythical town, they nevertheless rob the film of its potential grandeur. Additionally, the score is mutilated; 6 songs were cut from the original Broadway score, including the rapturous "Come to Me, Bend to Me", the lovely 2nd act duet between Tommy and Fiona ("From This Day On"), and the 2 'naughty' songs for Meg, the town squeeze. Gene Kelly is outstanding as Tommy, and the very flexible Cyd Charisse makes a wonderful leading lady, despite her dubbed singing voice. Their dance sequences are the film's most beautiful moments. Van Johnson provides some welcome humor that counteracts Kelly's dreamy and relaxed manner, and the cast as a whole performs with zest and folksey charm. Still, the film, despite its widescreen splendor and expert direction, is overall an underwhelming presentation of one of the musical theater's great shows.』

『By most accounts, this colorful 1954 feature was not up to the standard of the Broadway stage musical.But I found it enjoyable, albeit somewhat dated.
We hear the title song as we see the sunlight slowly spreading over the quaint Scottish village.
The day finds the villagers enjoying the fair, and the home of one Andrew Campbell(Albert Sharpe)bustling with activity as the widower's flock of daughters help prepare young Jean Campbell(Virginia Bosler) for her wedding to Charlie Dalrymple (Jimmy Thompson).
Jean's oldest sister, Fiona (the willowy and dramatic Cyd Charisse) dreams of finding her own sweetheart, as we learn from the sisters' pretty and comical number, "Waitin' for my Dearie" (In which Charisse is dubbed by Carol Richards).
As fate would have it, two wealthy hunters from America have stumbled upon Brigadoon. These include the kind, amiable, and receptive Tommy Albright(Gene Kelly), and his arrogant and smug friend, Jeff Douglas(Van Johnson) who are baffled because Brigadoon was not on a map.
The locals soon engage with the strangely-dressed newcomers and Meg Brockie(Dody Heath)- whose character is more fully developed onstage than onscreen-- tries to get a little too friendly with a reluctant Jeff.
But soon, Tommy and Fiona meet and are soon wandrin' through the heather on the hill...
In due time, Mr. Lundie( Barry Jones), the elder of the town, explains the mystery of Brigadoon to the American guests--how their minister made a deal with the Powers That Be to separate himself from the village permanently(in response to threats by witches), on the stipulation that the 18th century village's way of life would be preserved by allowing the town to come to life for just one day out of each subsequent century.
But the other part of the bargain is that the residents of the village can never leave Brigadoon. This causes much anguish for Jean Campbell's spurned suitor, Harry Beaton(Hugh Laing), who must suffer seeing his former sweetheart begin a new life with someone else, while he is unable to begin a new life of his own by leaving town to attend the University of Edinburgh.
After a single day of romancing Fiona and cavorting with the villagers, Tommy finds himself grieved by the imperfection of this enchantment as well.
He and Jeff return to their chaotic, upscale lives in New York, where we meet Tommy original intended, Jane Ashton (Elaine Stewart) about whom a changed Tommy has to make a decison....
In the end this is a story that will make a viewer both grateful for the passage of time, and yet also that it may stand still.

『I have bought 2-3 packs of these batteries, all disappointments. You'd think such a simple thing was basically failsafe, right? Nope. I thought I had just gotten a bad batch the first time. Nope again. The only way I can use these batteries is if I charge them right before I need them. I can't even tell you how many times I went to go play Wii and then realized ALL of these batteries were dead. Even worse was I had charged them fully no more than 2 days prior. Total garbage in my opinion, my brother even had some which all do the same thing as well. So, unless you are extremely organized and plan out when you want to play video games, use TV remotes, etc... spend your money on anything but these. I had a pair of Fuji rechargables that came with my first digital camera 10 years ago that hold a charge WAY longer than these shiny little turds. The Energizer bunny has sh** itself and died.』

(Great Price, Good Quality)
『I have bought Energizer Rechargeables before, and they were only 2100mAh, so these are a bit to step up from. They lasted for about two years, compared to my old set of 1800mAh duracells that I switched from to these.
I have only recharged these once in the two weeks I have had them, so I am pretty happy with them. I did top them off last night, as I cannot stand having a few percent gone when I use my flashlight.
Walgreens had a sale on these (meaning they couldn't get rid of them) and they were made in Japan, so I picked them up for $8 a pack (4 batts a pack). I also picked up AAA rechargeables to use in my Fenix flashlight, and those work well also. They say "ACCU" on the batteries themselves, and have oddly dark green tops on them.
I have taken about 50 pictures total on these, and have ran my GPS for about an hour on them. They seem to have good quality in keeping charge, so I don't know why NLee found them to have a "shockingly high self discharge"!』

『While this product has both pros and cons, having lived with it for a month, I'm VERY pleased with its overall performance. There is absolutely no dust visible in the air, even when looking for some particles near a sunlit window. None. Zero.

The unit is fairly large, about half the size of a steel garbage can brought to the curb. This may be an issue for some people, but conversely, a smaller unit would not move (and therefore not filter) as much air.

It moves A LOT of air, so it can get windy sitting nearby. But because it moves so much air, it works so well. We leave it on the lowest setting 24 hours a day, because turning it up to medium or high would be ridiculous. It really moves a lot of air. The air enters into and flows out of the unit in a 360 degree pattern, so the unit cannot be "aimed" towards, or away from, nearby objects.

Some have compared this unit to a Sharp model (which costs twice as much), but they should be comparing two of these to a unit costing twice as much, and three of these to a unit costing three times as much.

Some consider the unit loud, but it doesn't bother me, and the "white noise" puts me right to sleep at night.

Construction quality is EXCELLENT. They generally "don't make stuff like this anymore." Mine was made in Mexico. The plastic is high quality -- the vents, the controls, and the convenient carry handle built into the top, all feel solid. I opened the unit up (there's a large plastic nut on the bottom) to examine the HEPA filter (which is huge), and even the filter felt solid and well made.

The unit sold directly from Amazon (can't comment on ones from 3rd party sellers) is the current model with the silver control panel on top, and is very handsome (much nicer than the older model visible in some customer-uploaded photos above). This unit is the "50250N" model, which was apparently an internal model number used by the manufacturer, and never actually labeled on the packaging/unit as "50250N." The difference is the "N" (new) model features the "lifetime" HEPA filter which doesn't need to be changed. The current "N" model is also cosmetically nicer than the prior version. To be clear, there is only one current model of this air cleaner, the 50250 (which was internally called a 50250N by the manufacturer). The 250 in the model number refers to a CADR (Clean Air Delivery Rate) of 250.

The unit has a fairy bright blue light visible at night, but this is likely a safety feature so people don't trip over the unit while heading to the bathroom late at night. It didn't bother me, and I actually find the "night light" helpful. The markings on the blue lighted dial were unreadable, however, but given that there are only 4 positions (Off, Low, Medium, and High) this isn't a big deal.

Note that the manufacturer recommends turning the unit on "High" for a few seconds EVERY time the unit is switched on, to create extra suction on the filter gaskets for the tightest possible seal. Then switch it to Medium or Low as desired after a few seconds. We let it run 24 hours a day on low.

If you can live with the size and the amount of air it moves, you will be very happy with this unit.

We are very happy with the unit, and will buy additional units for other areas of the house in the future.

(Smoke with impunity! WHAT? I said, SMOKE WITH...)
『Yeah sure, Hepa filter microns microbes blah blah, but it's the *carbon* filter (aka the Honeywell 38002 Enviracare Universal Replacement Pre-Filter) that keeps the house from smelling like a Bullitt County Bingo Hall. Change the carbon filter every six weeks or so and you can lie to your children about having given up the Pall Malls. I bought the Honeywell 17000 first; it uses the same pre-filter, it's quieter and it probably helps a little. The 50250, however, is exponentially more effective at eliminating cigarette smoke simply because it filters a massive amount of air. To do that, it has to make a little noise. Fine with me; I haven't heard Bright Eyes whine in six months. And I'm pretty sure the dog stopped barking at the mailman.』

(It works - but too many issues: cord length, soils carpeting, etc)
『The Honeywell 50250 air cleaner does remove the dust, but not cooking odors. The electrical cord is too short, can't be used directly on your good carpeting or rugs, and is noisey on all fan levels.

The unit's large size is definitely good for large rooms. The specifications are good (carbon pre-filter, true HEPA filter and moving large volume of air - but too many issues with this model).

The unit's electrical cord is too short for practical use. It is recommended to use it 3 feet from anything; but finding an outlet and clear spot within range of the 6 foot cord is hard - an 8 foor retractable cord would have been great. (manufacture recommends not using extension cords)

It is also recommended not to place it on anything you don't want to get dirty from the dust being pulled in (so I place it on a "cheap" rug that I carry around with the unit).

The unit exhausts a large volume of cool air. I don't know how it pulls the dust in, as I can watch the dust in the air near the unit get blown away because of the huge amount of exhaust air from the top.

It does work, the pre-filter was dirty after the initial two days of full time use.
Try to get one with a retracable electrical cord, that isn't as noisey, and can be placed on good carpeting or rugs.

『My boss and I both purchased this keyboard about 5 months ago and I am already on here shopping for a new keyboard...I loved the design of this keyboard and have enjoyed using it, but some of the keys have quit working for no apparent reason...We popped the keys off to see if something had fallen under the key and to see if something had been spilt on it, but nothing was apparent...My boss has also had problems with hers...After about 3 months of use the lettering on the keys started wearing off...

『This is a wonderful keyboard. When I purchased my last computer, I made the mistake of getting a wireless keyboard, which did not have an option of ergonomic configuration. My previous keyboard was ergonomic, split. I spend upwards of eight hours a day writing, or keying. My left hand was getting numb and a little painful. The numbness and pain have not been an issue using the ergonomic keyboard. I find that my typing skills increase as well.

The additional feature buttons make this a wonderful keyboard. Windows 7 recognized all the features and works seamlessly.

『This is a very excellent keyboard. I was ready to be disappointed because of the various reviews that I read, but I have to say that I don't agree with any of them, at least no 100%.

I've heard rumors of the keys being hard to press, which is all together untrue. I have had no issues pressing the keys whatsoever, and I've found them enjoyable. They aren't rough on my hands at all and I really don't see how they could be hard to press. The spacebar, however, does take some time to become accustomed to. Because of the curve of the keyboard it makes the spacebar hard to press because you're not really hitting it in the center and it's not balanced very well. I think this could have been solved with two separate keys for it. Although it is annoying, it is nothing that can't be over seen for the overall superb quality of the product.

I did find the installation of the software annoying. Like anyone else would do, I plugged in the keyboard and booted. Within moments I found that I couldn't type anything, but I had a log in password to type... I had to grab another keyboard and restart. This is really more of my fault, but I think it should have more plug-n-play capabilities. Still, I don't think that's really enough to hate the keyboard.』

『This ink looked fine as printed in my Canon MP610 Pixma, and buying the 3-pack saved us a few dollars, but either the cartridges and/or the printer are very inefficient -- we don't print much in color, and yet the cartridge runs out in what seems like a month or so. It just seems like a built-in inefficient system to bleed us of money.』

(bang for your buck, and excellent customer service)
『I have had a Flip Ultra for about 2 years and I have loved it from the first moment I turned it on. I don't have a fortune to spend on a big camcorder to record my kids, but this baby gets the job done. It's so nice to just plug it in to my computer, upload my videos, sort them, send them to grandparents, and even post them on facebook. My other favorite feature is the ability to pay $20 for an archived DVD made by Flip and sent to you.

On top of the great product, Flip customer service is wonderful. I'm definitely not technologically savvy, and was having issues due to the software not being updated. I called and a cs representative walked me through all of the steps and fixed the issue that had stumped both my husband and myself.

If you're wondering if it's worth it, it is!』

『I had heard the Flip Camera had decent video quality (for the price) and was very easy to use, so I knew I wanted a Flip, just didn't know which one. I chose this one because it was the newest model that still used AA batteries. I liked the idea of using AA batteries, which I know is a turn-off for many people, for a variety of reasons. First of all, a "specialty" battery tends to lose its ability to hold a charge (hasn't that happened to one of your cell phones?) as it ages, which means you could lose out on taking some special videos if you're caught without enough juice to keep going. Other reviews rave about how tiny and slim the newest flip is (because it doesn't need to be fat enough to house AA batteries). Personally, I think this camera is very compact, while still having enough substance about it so you get the sense you're actually holding something. Smaller isn't always better in my opinion.....too easy to drop, lose, and often accompanied by limited functionality. In addition, if you're on your way to a big event and you realize your battery is dead, you simply stop at the drug store and pick some up. Furthermore, you can also use re-chargeable AA batteries (recommended) while keeping some spare regular AA batteries around in case your re-chargeable ones run out of juice. So even if you forget to re-charge your batteries, you always have the option of regular batteries. With the newest ultra slim model, when you're battery's dead, you need to charge.....no other options.』

『I bought this camera because it was required for the graduate psychology program that I started this fall. Long story short, it is very difficult to get more than one person into a relatively mid-ranged shot. Getting two people into a close shot is impossible unless they are practically sitting in each others lap. Also, if you film in a room where there is a lot of sunlight, the video will come out very dark. The Sound quality is terrible. It has kind of an echo-like sound quality and sounds almost like an old school tape recorder. The playback options on the computer software and the camera are very limited. If you need this camera for school like I did, just borrow one from someone but definitely do not buy it. It costs entirely too much for what it is. If you're willing to spend a few bucks more you can go to Best Buy and get a much nicer digital video camera.』

『So far it's played anything that I've tried including files from my HD Video Camera - I didn't expect this as they are in 2 separate files: video and audio. And the WD TV LIVE figured out how to link them together and play them on its own.

The price dropped from $119 to $99 in the last 2 weeks since I bought mine, so I hope that Amazon will credit me back the difference. I bought 3 in total as they seem very nice X-mas gifts.

So now all I have is an Internet connection and a TV and that's all I need. No cable service at all! Fantastic! Hopefully soon they'll add streaming video from Netflix, etc.

The graphical interface is decent but hardly what I'd call superb. Similarly, the remote is nice but it would be great to have more control to skip ahead X seconds in a video.』

(Wanted to like it, but too many serious issues)
『What a bummer. I was really hoping this product would work after the relatively positive reviews, but it has way too many flaws which became obvious in just a couple hours of use.. I bought this to connect to a second TV. I use a TiVo series 3 for my main TV with PyTivoX on the Mac, a setup that works flawlessly in most cases. The WD TV Live experience is a far cry from my TiVo experience.

Pros:

. Very small, portable if you want it to be.

. Very easy setup.

. Plays MTS files copied directly from an HD camcorder.

Cons:

. Serious audio sync issues with most file types, problems that get worse if you fast forward or rewind while playing a file. This happens with both local storage and when using network shares. These audio sync issues have never happened to me when streaming the same files from PyTiVoX to my TiVo.

. Absolutely will not stream 1080 content reliably over a wireless G network -- buffering on the device does not seem to account for network speed. The first minute or two of a file will play reliably, but then will stutter or freeze.

. Will not play decoded .mpg files from a TiVo. The video will play (although with pixelation&combing), but there is no audio.

. No ability to bookmark or add shortcuts to folder locations on a network share. You have to navigate through the entire path every time. Even for open/anonymous shares, you still have to jump thru a login screen every time. This is just stupid.

. Chapter functions on files created via Handbrake rarely seem to work. The next chapter button often just skips to the next file.

. Remote does not have volume controls or TV on/off control.

. And, finally, no Netflix. I wasn't expecting it, but seems like a no brainer on a $120 (street price) device.


I'm disappointed, and this one is probably going to go back to Amazon.』

How about enabling WD Media player with Googles' "Chrome" browser / Operating system?

Screen saver options? You could go crazy with this, (like Ringtones) Even if you must display only "WD" ADD type pix. Flying Toaster "WD" logo?

Infinite possibilities because of Firmware update capability.

You must know that the "Sheik Geeks" Are going to "HACK THE PLANET! HACK THE PLANET!" with this product.... Why not "Open Source" some of it like an "APP" section of the device? (see Google "Chrome" browser/OS )

P.S.
Pressing "FF" then "NEXT" Felt a little weird to go forward by chapter in the ISO files "REV" then "PREV" worked also.

『I'm rarely this enthusiastic about a product. There are definitely downsides, but nothing significant enough for me to really feel there are major flaws. I owned (and still own, actually) the regular TV and loved it, but really disliked the lack of networking support. I went to a trade show and Western Digital was there. I mentioned this to their representatives and he told me they were releasing a version with networking support in a couple of weeks. I had to pick one up as soon as possible.

What I expected was the original with the ability to access network shares via SMB, but I also expected the UI to still be a little slow and difficult when setting up the network. I was very surprised at how simple it was to set things up. I decided to go the WiFi route rather than Ethernet and it really just involved finding a compatible WiFi adapter on WD's compatibility list (I picked a Belkin because it had a stand) and plugging it in. It found my router right away, I entered the password and I was connected very quickly. I had absolutely no issues streaming anything over the WiFi, which was very surprising. I figured huge 1080p MKV files would be an issue, but they played incredibly well. The UI was extremely quick and responsive. Previews even worked quickly over the WiFi. Connecting to shares on my computer was absolutely no problem. I am just in awe of how well it works. After using an AppleTV, which in theory should work better because it's so limited in its network functionality, I just figured there would be problems. Western Digital really got it right. Plus there's YouTube support and it works really well, too.

The downsides are few but they do get kind of annoying here and there. The main issue that bothers me the most is that when I add something to a folder on a network share, it doesn't update on the WD TV Live. This is understandable to and extent, but there ought to be a reload button or function of some kind to work around this. Currently the only way to reload the folder is to click home and reconnect. It's not a huge deal, but it would be really great if it wasn't necessary. Other annoyances fall under a lack of options, mainly. For example, thought preview mode work exceptionally well (where you have a list of videos and it shows a little window that previews the selected video) you're required to have sound along with the preview. That's useful if you're not sure what the video is, but if you already know and you're leaving the television on for a few minutes before watching (like you get a phone call, for example) then you have sound playing constantly. There are obviously two work-arounds: mute the TV or select a folder or photo rather than a video file. Nonetheless, it would be nice to have the option to simply turn off sound and only have a visual preview mode. In terms of setup options there aren't many. You don't have as much control over the WD TV Live as you do with the regular WD TV. This is unfortunate in some ways, because options are always nice, but in others it makes the setup really simple. I'd feel very comfortable recommending the WD TV Live to a novice more so than the WD TV because it's much more simple to setup. The thing is, this sort of device probably doesn't appeal too much to a person who doesn't know much about media files because it doesn't provide any means of content acquisition (like the AppleTV does with the iTunes store). It assumes the user has content already, which means they're either generating it themselves or acquiring it on the Internet without the assistance of the WD TV Live. Neither of those things are necessarily simple (in the same way the WD TV Live is) and so I think it makes more sense to add a little complexity through additional features and settings rather than remove them for the sake of simplicity.

Overall, however, there's very little to complain about. Though I don't use this for photos and music and can't really comment on how well those aspects of the WD TV Live work, I'm extremely pleased with nearly all aspects of video performance and would gladly recommend it to others.』

(Problem with AVCHD and Fast Forward)
『I have been using WD TV Live for a week now. I also updated the firmware to Release 1.01.11 (11/16/09). There are three main problems:

1) I have personal home videos shot in HD (AVCHD) using Sony HDR-TG1 camcorder. I want to copy all the AVCHD files in a portable hard drive and play them through WD TV Live. It plays the files but there is a gap of 2 seconds where my TV screen goes blank. The reason why it is happening is each shot is saved in a MTS file within AVCHD folder by HD camcorder (that's the way it supposed to be). It tries to play each MTS file sequentially and when it moves from one file to another, it creates a pause of 2 seconds when your screen goes blank. It supposed to play all MTS files within AVCHD sequentially without any gap. The gap is very annoying because it does not treat AVCHD as one movie but a sequence of movies. So, unless you combine all MTS files into one huge one file, then it should work, but for me this is a bug and it is the biggest turn down for using WD TV Live for AVCHD. To put it in perspective, imagine you ripped your DVD video on an external hard drive and it has multiple VOB files. When you play the movie, WD TV Live plays all the VOB files fine without any gap. Why can't it treat AVCHD movie the same way?

2) Sometimes when you want to jump to next chapter while watching DVD format movies from your hard drive, it jumps to the beginning of the movie. I do not fudge with how DVD videos are extracted and copied into hard drive. I simply copy the entire movie files from DVD movie and it still does that.

3) Occasionally, it also freezes when you try to fast forward. You have to power down WD TV Live and restart it.

Overall, I do not recommend this product until WD fixes all the issues especially gaps in AVCHD one.』

『I've been a long time Travelpro customer. Crew 3 is where I started many years ago. Unfortunatley, the extension handle would no longer extend on my Crew 3 bag. Without question, I bought another Travelpro bag, a Crew 7 22" upright. On my first trip, the extension handle locked up and I had to carry the bag by the side handle through the airport. After much frustration, the extension handle did start to work again. On my second flight, I checked the bag. When pulling my bad off the carousel, the top handle came off. Needless to say, very disappointed. I returned the bag and got a replacement. As soon as I got home and unboxed the new bag, the extension handle would not extend! Deja vu. I'll be returning it again. Deja vu. Unfortunately, I am going to have to part ways with Travelpro.』

『I purchased the Travelpro Crew 7 to replace a Travelpro Crew 6. By moving the suit holder to the upper expandable shell, you get more space in the lower cavity. The 22" is the perfect size whether you carry on or check your bag. The handle is solid, pulls and retracts easily and completely disappears. Rolls smoothly. Zippers are improved for better grip. I'm very satisfied with this case.』

『I kept on hearing about the good qualities of Travelpro and that it was the choice of the airline pilots and attendants. I began to look in my travels and sure enough that was the predominant brand selected. After reading up on the product I chose the 'Crew 7' for it's durability and abililty to replace the wheels. In my travels, the demise of a rollerbag is a failure of the wheels. I have now traveled out of the country twice and several trips throughout the US and it is still like new. Great product.』

『I bought this in December of 2008. The first time I used it the zipper on the main compartment broke off. I did not check the bag, the damage was caused by normal use.

The second time I used it the main handle broke just as my cab was pulling up to take me to the airport. Again, totally normal use. The bag wasn't even heavy--I was only going away for a night.

I brought the bag to the authorized repair center here in San Francisco and they told me that had a number of these bags (some waiting as long as 6 weeks for a replacement part from Travelpro) all with the same problem. He said he thought it was a poor handle design. So unless you would like to spend your time bringing your bag to and from the shop, I'd choose a different brand or model.』

(Fits into the Holmes HM-3500 humidifier like a glove)
『Fits the Holmes HM-3500 just right. The package said it would.

Seems well constructed.

I'm not sure the blue outer surface does anything significant. Even if the blue webbing is completely "anti-microbial," how does that keep microbes from flourishing in the other 99.99% of the wick?

The dewpoint [outside] was in the upper 30s, my apartment is about 700 sq. feet, and my humidifier was coming on almost constantly. It should have been coasting along (with the fan on Low) instead of stressing. I took out the old filter, put in one of these, and with the same dewpoint, the humidifier comes on for much less time, saving electricity and my patience.

Now, I'm ready for 0 Degree dewpoints -- Bring it on.

I recommend using a mineral-dissolving Water Treatment so your wick lasts for 6 months instead of 4 weeks. I have soft water, but use a little squirt of Treatment every time I add a couple of gallons of water, regardless. I think it helps extend the wicks' life.

Lose one star:
* for not being 100% antimicrobial but including marketing jargon that implies that it is
* for not lasting forever, and
* for costing too much.』

(A great replacement filter)
『These replacement filters are great. They have a handle built in to keep your hands dry when removing from humidifier. The Air Washing layer is very good at catching dirt and pet hair that would get into the evaporation wick and shorten the life of the filter. This is well put together so that it stays upright even when it is wet instead of collapsing like other filters do.』

(Argh - didn't fit my Honeywell humidifier.)
『My stupid Honeywell humidifier does not have a marking on it saying what model it is. So when I ordered this filter, I assumed that their filters were universal.

Well, they're not. Argh.』

(Monthly Cost Not Anticipated)
『I have mixed feeling about this product. The filter works well but does not last long. Mildew builds up quickly. I have to remove it everyday and take it outside so that it can air-out to perserve a longer life span. I us it everry night in the Honeywell 1012. This system has reduce the number of sinus headaches I get--that's the positive benefit. The negative point is that each filter cost over $9 dollars and only last approximately a month if you leave it in continuously--Approximately $120 a year. I called Honeywell to find out if there was a replacement filter that did not require changing. Unfortunately, No.』

(I'm glad it's what I really wanted)
『Finding this item took a little hunting around. You see, the picture shown is not the HC-14. I don't know what the item being shown is, but the HC-14 actually has the "Air Wash Technology" thin blue filter around the white honey-combed item that is pictured.

I was revealed when it arrived that it was what I REALLY wanted. That is why I'm rating it a 4 and not a 5.

As far as the Filter itself, the one that originally came with my Humidifier (which is identical), lasted a good year. I did take it out from time to time, and wash it in vinegar water; and I did NOT replace it like they suggested (I didn't need to!).

I can tell you when you NEED to replace the filter. It will be humming right along, then one day, you think, "My, I haven't filled the reservoirs in quite some time..." (Because normally, I'm filling one of them almost every other day - then all of a sudden it's weeks). That is when you'll know.』

『Amazon didn't publish my last review so I am rewriting it from memory.

I owned this for 150 days and then it quit. We took it apart, basically this design is living on borrowed time as the unit will eventually fail.

Sunbeam placed the actual electronic switch below the aluminum bowl part and on top of the plastic housing. The grey button on the top is nothing more than a lever to another piece that actually depresses the electronic switch below the aluminum bowl. The real electronic switch is less than an inch from where the water flows from the aluminum bowl and out the dispenser. That switch, also sits right next to the heating element. Now you don't need to be an engineer to know that electronics don't care for heat and they don't care for water. In our case the heat killed the electronic "on" switch. I am not sure where the previous model's (3211) actual "on" switch was, but it had to be in a smarter location that this for it to last TEN years.

So the old design, built in the US apparently lasted 10 years and the new design, made in China lasted 150 days. I should have read the 1-star reviews as I would have found that just about every owner of the previous model have had nothing but bad experience with this model. Don't discount the opinions of those that owned the previous model. I don't think I will ever buy another Sunbeam product again, this is just the tip of the iceberg.

P.S. The only reason we replaced our ten year old 3211 model was because the rubber or plastic seal in the dispenser part had worn out and the unit would leak while dispensing.』

(Good heat, but too small)
『This is a good quality product, it truly is. The problem I have with it lies in the fact that I bought it online rather than seeing it in a store. I use tall travel coffee cups which are pretty standard these days, so I had erroneously assumed that this model would accommodate them. That was my fault. While the Sunbeam does heat water quickly and to a good temperature, it is a big inconvenience to have to use a small coffee mug to transfer the water to my travel mug. It is also too small for me to slide my teapot under, meaning I have the same problem of transferring the hot water from cup to pot.
If you only use regular size coffee mugs this will be fine. If you're more fond of over-sized mugs or travel mugs - I'd advise investing in a different model.』

(Useful and money saving)
『This is a great product. I had one years ago and then shifted to heating water for tea in the microwave. My last microwave had a short life and when I replaced it, I bought another "Hot Shot" for heating water to take some of the use away from the microwave. The hot shot is quicker, the water is the perfect temperature for tea, and it saves electricity. I'd give it 5 stars if the water drained faster after it was heated. This is a great graduation gift.』

『i have had my hot shot for ten months. i absolutely love this thing. i drink so much more tea now since it's so easy and quick to heat up water. i gave this 3 stars because it doesn't feel sturdy to me, and i'm always holding my breath hoping it won't break. the top part is now tilted forward since using the dispenser button pulls the whole top section down. the water pools in the front and i have to tip it over into the sink to get all the water out that wouldn't dispense. so i love what it does, and the price is right... but i am pretty disappointed in the design.』

    『I am a first grade teacher and I find that the WordWorld videos are excellent for activation and for remediation of basic phonics skills particularly for students learning english because it also is teaching vocabulary in a very fun and accessible way. I would recommend this for pre-school and kindergarten children who are starting to read as well.』

    (Fun Trip Around The World)
    『David Niven and Cantinflas embark on a fun trip around the world. They are joined with Robert Newton, Shirley MacLaine and a huge host of big Hollywood names in spot scenes. As a fun excercise, see if you can name the stars before the credits. Do watch the credits at the close as that is a very enjoyable part of the film. The movie garnered 5 well deserved Oscars including best picture. Two music themes dominate the movie, one a song that hit the top ten (Around the World I Searched For You) during its release that held special memories for me as I spent a good part of the year it was made half way around the world from a woman who was to become my wife. The other(Rule Britainia)is still played on classical music radio and was played during Winston Churchill's funeral. The scenery shots are tame by today's standards, but were great at the time of its release. This CD is worth watching more than one time still.』

    (Fun Movie)
    『The movie is long but held my interest. A lot of money must have gone into its production, as there are elaborate scenes throughout the film, which took place across the globe. I have my doubts about the accuracy of the cultural depictions, but that's Hollywood for you. The movie is clean if you don't mind guns and gambling.』

    (This is not a remake, it is a loosely based on)
    『This version of Jules Verne's original story "Around the World in 80 Days" takes so many liberties with the story that the only thing recognizable is a few names.

    It is shame that we leave our youth with the impression that Disney and Jules Verne have any thing in common.

    That being said and ignoring that this is a contrived jumble of clichés and no social redeeming value, every once in a while there is a cute zinger or one liner. One such inference was when Lord Salisbury was told that they were going to name a meat entrée after him.

    A major negative for Jules and a plus for Disney is the addition of Jackie Chan. This is probably one of Jackie's best performances as he bloodlessly gets to hop around Chaplin style.

    A real plus is the filming location in the former East Germany and Thailand makes for exceptionally interesting visuals.

    Bottom line is this is a good time filler and can be amusing but do not get this presentation mixed up with the Jules Verne story of the same name.

    『Panoramic photography, graphics that charm, special camera technology for the time (1956), plus several recognizable actors (cameos), must have been included in the reasoning behing the Best Picture Award (Academy Awards). Acting is stylized. but consistently so, and as such also very good. Music is average, mostly utilitarian - for effect. There's a fascination with the time element; and it does capture the Industrial Revolution at a particular moment with balloon transportation, trains powered by steam engines, a steamship, a large-wheeled bicycle, and gas lamps.

    Why a four-star rating? What is science fiction author, Jules Verne, saying? Arrogance (Passepartout {Cantiflas} repeats the word "Master" overly much), gambling (the bet about 80 days), womanizing (a frivolous joke except for one Indian princess), cultural blindness (several ancient and profound civilzations are dismissed with superficial treatment) - that such behaviors are acceptable, even enviable. The movie is entertaining, but the true big picture is composed of negative standards under an elegant veneer.

    『This Mike Todd production was a star-studded, multi-million dollar extravaganza when first released in 1956. It remains enjoyable family fare, but time has somewhat dulled its shine. Still, it compares favorably to the overly long, TV mini-series starring Pierce Brosnan and Eric Idle.

    Elegant David Niven plays the neurotically punctual Phileas Fogg, a British gent who is spurned on by a wager to prove he can travel around the world in 80 days. He is accompanied by his valet, played with persnickety humor by Cantinflas.

    Nominated for several Academy Awards, this was written by John Farrow (Mia's dad) and S.J. Perelman, based on Jules Verne's 1873 classic. The fun part is the razzle-dazzle. Todd knew what he was doing with all those exotic locales and over 40 cameo appearances, including Charles Boyer, Ronald Colman, Marlene Dietrich, José Greco, Peter Lorre, Buster Keaton, Frank Sinatra, and Red Skelton.     『This unit is very compact and fits perfectly behind a wall mounted lcd. While the unit is fairly small in size it weighs more than much bigger surge protectors that i have elsewhere. Also at 5100 joules it offers some major protection for your flat panel. The short cord is just right to keep things nice and neat. I read many reviews on Tripp-Lite products and how they saved others components from actual lightening strikes while other components using cheap surge protectors got fried. One less thing to worry about. At just over $30 on special its a no brainer.

    Update: I attached an image of this mounted. You can see it by clicking on customer images. If you look you will see it has two green LED's that are lit. The reason why I mention this is that the center one is not lit. After reading the manual that center one that is not lit indicated that the ground to the power center was not correct. As it turned after checking the outlet I found the polarity was reversed even though the outlet was grounded. Using a test light i confirmed the outlet had the hot and neutral wires reversed. After fixing this now all three lights are lit and I know its properly connected and protected. The other two LED's light green to tell you 1) the surge compression components are intact and providing full protection for you component 2) Indicates nominal AC power is present with no wiring faults detected.

    This indicator lights are not just for show and do work.』

    『This is by far the very worst water pitcher that I have ever used. I don't know where to start. The entire thing is a plastic piece of junk. It takes at least 25-30 minutes to fill it because it takes so long for the water to go through the reservoir/filter. And you can't just fill it and walk away, you have to stand there and baby-sit it and make sure the water is coming out. The entire thing can't even be filled with water, it can only be filled just to the reservoir and even then it's way too much because it often spills out in different directions when I am pouring it. The taste of the water is rather flat, it tastes like evaporated water that's been sitting out. I do not care too much about filtered water, I got this for my family and loved ones who do, but they have told me that they prefer bottled water or tap water as I have very good tap water where I live. I do not recommend this to anyone. Fortunately, after I explained my problems to Amazon they gave me a credit (this is why they're the best e-commerce company.)

    『I purchased this water filter pitcher to replace a Brita Pitcher after I learned that Brita filters don't filter out any microbes or pharmaceuticals, but only chlorine, etc. The design is great. Unlike my previous Brita filterBRITA Water Filtration System Kit 1 Pitcher Vintage Model (Large Capacity) plus 2 Fliters this one consists of three easy to clean parts, the pitcher, the basin, and the lid. When you pour from the pitcher, the LED flashes, indicating the status of the filter. It's not measuring anything when you pour, pouring simply activates the LED and tells you how much time has passed since you set the timer, indicating its state as working or not. Though it may filter a tad slower than the Brita filter, the time difference is not significant, and the fact that it removes 96% of pharmaceuticals, and microbial cysts makes it well worth it. If you enjoy the convenience of having an LED to remind you when it's time to change filters, I would definitely recommend this model. If you don't mind using the stickers that come with the filters to remind you when to change, or have enough confidence in your memory to do without either, I would recommend saving the money and buying one of these models: PUR CR-6000 2 Stage Oval Water Pitcher or PUR Water Pitcher with Bonus Trial-Size Samples』

    『All three dogs in my house prefer the water filtered by these filters over the non-filtered water. I also know it's working by the amount of "crap" stuck in the filters when I change them. It's a little expensive for my controlled budget, but worth the satisfaction of the dogs.』

    (Comparasion of Filters)
    『Has anyone used the new generation of multi-chamber replacement filters for the Drinkwell Fountain and if so, how do they compare to the original two-chamber filters? There is quite a price difference between the two so if anyone has first hand knowledge, please share any pros and cons you may have. My Yellow Lab loves his Drinkwell Fountain. When I need to clean the unit, I put out a fresh bowl of water for him but he is so spoiled to his Drinkwell Fountain, he usually just waits until it is on line again. The only downside to the unit is that it is a bit difficult to clean. We have a lot of calcium in our water supply so it is inevitable that calk builds up rather quickly. However, a mild solution of warm vinegar water circulating for an hour or so does the trick. I just wish the manufacturer of the Drinkwell Fountain would offer a decent set of cleaning brushes. The quality of the Drinkwell brushes is sorely lacking. The brushes have exposed metal tips, albeit they are thinly coated with what appears to be some type of plastic or rubber coating, the number of bristles in each brush is extremely sparse plus they have cheaply made plastic handles that have a tendenacy to easily split apart at the seam. In my humble opinion, the Drinkwell brushes are extremely inferior and are not worth the pricey selling price since they do little to nothing to adequately clean the unit. Suggest you don't waste your money on these flimsy brushes. I use a good baby bottle brush and/or acquarium brushes. These types of brushes do a much better job, are made to a much higher standard of quality and the overall price is comparable.』
