『I have a very small, 5x8 bathroom in the basement that gets quite chilly during the colder months. Most heaters are simply a little too much for such a tiny space. The problem with the small space heater line is that most of them are simply cheap. They get really hot for their size and unfortunately seem to burn out rather prematurely compared to beefier models. This little Holmes unit I bought locally is as good as they come quality wise for the money. There was one other unit I saw a little cheaper at the same store. However it was a low, flat model that was designed more as a shelf unit. That model had the control knob on the side which was a pain to get at and operate unless you held the unit still with the other hand. This Holmes model stands upright and has its controls conveniently at the top, where they belong in my opinion. It has two levels of heat and a fan only option. Although just about all of these small models have a high and low setting for heat, the higher one usually being 1500 watts, I neither recommend buying one that carries just the high setting alone, nor do I consider it necessary or economical running any of these small heaters on the high setting for any length of time. They are all capable and safe to operate at that wattage, but the heaters get very hot at that setting, and running it almost exclusively on high is what tends to burn them out prematurely in my opinion. I would suggest anyone buying one of these economy units to run them on the lower settings as much as possible. They may need a little more time to provide the same level of comfort you desire, but they will not get so hot to handle that you cannot pick it up or get that close to it. And it will end up lasting you years longer than running it full throttle. Mine is going on three years old now and still looks and operates like new.

In short, their are only a couple of models in this line that are slightly cheaper than this unit. Both are made by companies that I have never seen in stores. That is not a condemnation, simply an observation. Holmes heaters are available everywhere, and are probably the oldest company around in the field of small space heaters. I recommend this model for your small heating needs. I think its convenient to operate, safe and durable, and the very best of the economy line of space heaters...』

『I bought this heater 2 years ago. For my laundry room to keep my dog and her 10 puppies warm through the cold winter. Warmed the room within 10 mins and if kept on high it was too DARN HOT! Best thing about this heater if the pups ever knoked it over it shut off. After two years of having this heater it hasn't failed me yet. And it has been thrown knocked over and stomped on by my dogs. Very Harty heater does a great job! Of and my laundry room has a dog door and windows all around so not very insulated. I would run it 6 hours a day every day and didn't even see a change in the pge bill』

Relative to the Korean productions, there is no contest; they were letterbox - this is widescreen; subtitles always defaulted to Korean language and were hard to change - this one defaults to english; sound was poor quality - this one has excellent sound.
Others have pointed out shortcomings that I agree with, but overall I am very happy with this version. I will scrap both Korean versions, and not regret my added expense.』

『These two movies (really, as everyone notes, a single one divided into two chapters) are wonderful, although if you are looking for a bucolic feel-good European movie you should look somewhere else.

Nothing really is wrong here. Great direction, outstanding photography, fantastic acting, especially from Auteuil and Montand (while I keep thinking that Emmanuelle Beart, in this movies like in many others, is significantly more beautiful than skilled), beautiful soundtrack. But perhaps the most outstanding aspect of this film is how all characters are constructed. With a couple of minor exceptions, all characters feel truly real. You will not find total good vs total evil here. Evil does play an important role, but the negative characters are complex, multi-dimensional and clearly able to love and feel, although in a very distorted and parochial way. And theirs is a diffuse evil with many only slightly less guilty than those directly responsible, and with fate playing a crucial role as well.

Overall, a complex and wonderful movie which I am happy I watched, although I found it so sad that I suspect it will not want to see it again for years to come.』

The series, in general, is very good. The acting is magnificent. It's always a pleasure to see the many real faces of Glenn Close, her speech, and try to guess her caracter. However, I hope - I only watch this movies on DVD - that DAMAGES doesn't turn Glenn Close into that very pure-evil one-dimension woman that we've seen in Fatal Attraction. If that happens, the show would become, for me, just another kind of Mexican soap opera, and I'll loose the interest in it.』

(What makes Kim Jong Ill?)
『My kids were just at the wrong age, too young, for me to have gotten into South Park, so "Team America" was kind of a revelation to me. The movie is vulgar, politically incorrect and oh so crude. But it is also a very smart combination of writing, smart puppeteering and topical satire that is just has to be seen to be believed.

Team America is a group of star-spangled fighters who take on terrorists. They tend to be a little quick on the draw, and often cause more damage to those they want to save than the bad guys. The opening scene, in which the team blows the living hell out of Central Paris, sets the stage for the rest of the film.

It's hard sometimes to know with Trey and Stone where satire ends and crude ethnic stereotyping begins. One American character bluffs his way past a couple of Arab guards by repeating variations on "Durka durka." Is this making fun of the America belief that foreign culture and language is so easily adopted? Or that Arabic is barbaric nonsense? Hard to say. Then there is the film's portrayal of many of Hollywood's leftist artists as terror-pandering loons. Alec Baldwin comes in for a particular savaging, but then so do Susan Sarandon, Janeane Garafalo, Matt Damon and many others. Trey and Stone are notoriously evenhanded in targeting left and right, though I have to say that the right gets off rather easy in this film. It's a choice being portrayed as narrow-mindedly militaristic v getting your head blown off.

Anyway, Team America finds its way to North Korea, where lead bad guy, Kim Jong Ill, is the terrorist puppet master who pulls the metaphorical strings of terrorists around the globe. Sometimes I wonder whether the real Kim, already on the downslope of the sanity slide, would see this movie by itself as a pretext to harry the West. Let's hope that never happens. In the film, he is a sadistic crime master with a "ronery" (lonely) heart of gold. His signature song, "I'm so Ronery" bewails his lack of company at the top, while making uncomfortable fun of the East Asian pronunciation. It's this kind of combination hi- and low-brow humor that make the film irresistible and enchanting for nearly every taste..

For a kid like me who grew up in the 60's with shows like "Fireball XL-5" that feature the hop-skip motion of puppets, this film was a great nostalgia trip. Even a 6-year old kid in 1962 watching characters flop into their jet pilot's seats knew he was watching something bizarre and memorable. "Team America" ramps up the inanity of the puppeteering technique, inserting all manner of violence and sexuality that the producers of "Fireball" could never have imagined. Trey and Stone pay tribute to the genre while mercilessly exploiting and expanding it. The film's music adds greatly to the sense of irreverent fun. A love song between two characters ("Pearl Harbor sucked, and I love you") trashes Ben Affleck and takes a swipe at smarmy movie love songs. The film's theme song is not only rude, violent and jingoistic, but has a country flavor that fits right into the "I'm proud to be an American" genre of contemporary popular patriotic music.

Team America is not a film for the gentle or pious. Church folk - stay away! But if you have a certain kind of twisted humor, can stand watching puppets blowing each other away with automatic weapons and explosives, and don't mind watching naked, articulated puppets engage in every graphic sexual situation imaginable, then put this film on your cinematic bucket list.

Should you pick up or watch "Team America"? F-yeah!』

『DVD was in very good condition but had no book with it. Purchase received in a reasonable amount of time.』

(disappointing, facile)
『In brief, this movie was jejune and tedious to watch. It was also cowardly in its cartoonish portrayal of Islamic terrorists, as it takes no "balls" (in the parlance of this ilk of film) to treat a genuine ideological threat as a sock puppet of another, more tractable and less serious threat (I will not give away their plot, but one can read other reviews to get the relevant details). In doing this, the film follows a long line of others that very deliberately fail to confront head-on the roots of Islamic terrorism. To excuse the film on this score because it is meant to be a satire would be wrong, as the best satires, subtly and indirectly of course, nail the truth (and in particular do not try to tidy it up in an equivocating fashion). But "Team America" dutifully misses all targets of interest and import; in this opinion I stand at variance with many of the other reviewers, which is unfortunate. Parker and Stone reveal themselves to be as craven as the left-wing actors they insipidly parody. This film fails at every level as a satire, and at best reaches the level of vulgar parody. And by vulgar here I do not simply mean coarse (though it was, but I have no problem with that per se), but rather popular.

Finally, some technical comments: 1) The super-marionation was initially interesting, but its novelty wore off after a few minutes. Moreover, it seemed to have less power here (where it was used in part as a homage but more as a post-ironic sight gag) than in its original, earnest applications (e.g., "Thunderbirds"). 2) I was extremely frustrated with the poor quality of the puppet mimicry of the Hollywood actors; and so we were deprived of even the simple pleasure of adept caricature (which was my motivation for having purchased this film), with the Kim Jong Il puppet being a notable exception. The other "famous faces" puppets looked like caricatures of people, just not of those that they were supposed to be caricaturing. 3) I cannot stand Trey Parker's voice-work, and here you are glutted with it.

My recommendation: If you are a poorly read 17-28 old who considers himself a hip political realist because he enjoys watching "South Park", then you might similarly enjoy this attempt at "balanced" post-9/11 satire. If not, you'll likely recognize it within minutes (or less) as stunted, pseudo-satirical dreck.』

(Gorillas And Guerillas)
『"Team America World Police" is a political satire from Trey Parker and Matt Stone about their perceptions of America's role as the world's policeman. Made with "Thunderbirds" style marionettes, the plot springs from the destruction of much of Paris while pursuing terrorists, where an elite U.S. counter-terrorism group loses a member; the replacement turns out to be an actor with a boatload of emotional baggage. Before long North Korean crackpot Kim Jong-il plots world destruction with the help of the Film Actors Guild, lead by Alec Baldwin. An assortment of leftist actors sympathizes with Kim and believes everything to be America's fault. Satire can be the best indicator of reality; certainly this is one of those times as the film satirizes the arrogance, naïve, and simplistic attitudes so prevalent in the chic Hollywood political activist circuit.

The film is somewhat libertarian in attitude, as it mocks elements from all political factions from Derkaderkastan to Hollywood. By far most of the venom here is directed at the far left Hollywood elite, with special treatment reserved not only for Baldwin, but Michael Moore (who is referred to as a "giant socialist weasel," and who blows up Mount Rushmore), Martin Sheen and Tim Robbins (who are North Korean guards), Sean Penn, Susan Sarandon, Janeane Garofalo, George Clooney, Matt Damon, Danny Glover, Peter Jennings, and others. The actors meet fates appropriate for the film, with Glover and Penn being eaten by house cats, for instance.

The United Nations, as impotent in this film as it is in real life, is also rightfully mocked. The U.N. sends the useless Hans Blix to inspect Kim Jong-il's property, and Hans is quickly eaten by Kim's sharks. Kim gets to sing a ballad about loneliness that is the musical highlight of the film, although I loved the battle preparation song complete with the line "we're gonna' need a montage" almost as much.

As you might expect from Parker and Stone, the film is frequently tasteless (e.g. extensive marionette vomiting) and is very politically incorrect. I am by no means a fan of "gross out" humor, and while some of the gags could have been dispensed with, the satirical points made by Parker and Stone are completely legitimate. Unsurprisingly some of the people caricatured in the film were unhappy with the skewering they received. Penn wrote a hostile and profane letter to Parker and Stone as a result, which seemed to prove that he can dish it out but can't take it, although Clooney was more mature and claimed that he would have been insulted had he not been parodied in the movie.

The film is refreshingly independent and did well at the box office (grossing approximately $51 million), which provides hope that more films not beholden to the uber-left Hollywood mentality will be greenlighted in the future. While "Team America" is nowhere near perfect, it does have many funny moments interspersed with the gratuitous grossness, and most importantly of all, effectively skewers its targets, which was the point in making a satire in the first place.』

『The product does exactly what it promises. It took my hair from wet to straight. I love the design. The locking feature is handy for travel. I love the digital display. It also heats up very quickly and beeps to let you know it has reached the correct temperature. I have very thick and curly long hair so it took a while to go through but it was more than worth not having to blow dry then flat iron. I was amazed to see my hair coming out straight, silky and shiny. I am quite sure this will cause damage but I used a heat spray to try to minimize this. I relax my hair every couple months and wasn't sure if this would tame my hair but it did! I love it!』

『I have another flat iron for use on dry hair that I use several times a week. It glides through my hair and leaves it smooth as silk.

This wet/dry iron does not glide as easily through my hair. And it gets hot as heck. It did dry my slightly damp hair when I used it but there are still little hairs that are kind of frizzy - unlike when I use my dry hair iron. Also, the steam that came out of it is kind of worrisome. I wonder if I am cooking my hair.

I got this on Gold Box for about $20. If I had tried it first, I don't know I would have still purchased it. At least it was cheap.

『After reading the many reviews that users had posted about this tea, I wasn't sure what to expect when it arrived. I brewed it and found that it had a pleasant aroma and a distinctly spicy taste. As with other k-cup teas, I found that its taste was, in my opinion, not watered down at all. Of course there could be endless reasons why this could be and so I am not saying that others will necessarily share my opinion. What is certain, however, is that this chai tea is very flavorful and has a good blend of spice that stands out among the chai teas that I have tasted. This would definitely not be a bad choice for those wishing to experience chai, or k-cup chai, for the first time.』

I haven't found that in this or any of the other chai cups. Very dissapointed. Wish I could get my money back because I'm throwing them out. I don't know how long they are going to last but I know none of them failed on me while burning or playing just yet. I know several people who also have purchased this brand as well with no hitches. I don't see the problem everyone has with these discs. i'm on my third set and i've never had a bad burn, every single disc used. i burn around 7GB iso files to the discs, use them daily, and have never had a problem with the quality.i use an hp desktop and my toshiba laptop with the program 'imgburn' and nver had a problem. burn at a low speed of 2.4x and there should be no problem. and at $35 for 50 discs!!! thats 70cents a disc. why even pay for the verbatim at an extremely high price when these work the same.』

『If you don't try to burn these at 8x, they are awesome. I've burned 20 of the 50 pack that I purchased here on Amazon. 19 have burned without a hitch. The one that failed, I tried burning at 8x tonight. Sure, it may take 40 minutes to burn an entire disk, but considering what you are using them for, it is recommended to burn at the lowest speed in every guide online.

BURN SLOW! I hate to have to repeat it again, but so many people are giving these bad reviews when they are great disks. I used Verbatim exclusively until I found these on here for something like 70 cents a disk as opposed to 1.50 for Verbatim. Burn them at 1 or 2.4x and you'll be fine.』

『Note that I JUST received the camera yesterday, but I have a couple of comments right away: 1. The camera should definitely come with a memory card! 2. The wrist strap is almost impossible to attach; I finally threaded a piece of dental floss through to attach to the strap and pull it through...very slow&frustrating. This is important to me since I was caught in a "sneaker wave" on the Oregon coast,&dropped my camera (no wristband) in the saltwater which completely fried/drowned it. I wasn't completely submerged so a wrist strap would have helped. However, at thi preiminary stage, I love the camera's huge LED screen and the ease of use: it almost isn't necessary to read the short "How to Use" piece. I've yet to look at the CD plus I haven't printed any pictures yet. Will write another review in the future as I rely on Amazon customer reviews!』

『It is almost too small for my fingers but sure fits well in my top pocket. I love the way there is no delay between pressing the button and the camera taking the picture... I suspect the faster Ultra II chip helps with this. Snap them off one after the other ... no problem (without flash).

The picture quality seems excellent. I appreciate the viewfinder as an alternate method for framing the picture ... sometimes it is hard to see the screen in sunlight ... or for just quickly pointing it in the right direction and "photoshopping" the resulting 10 megapixel image.

No buyers remorse here ... can't find any short-comings ... well, OK, the little door that covers the usb port has a cheezy hinge.』

『I wanted speakers for my laptop that were easy to use. These do just that. Plug in the power cord, attach the cord to the speaker outlet on the computer and turn on. Easy. They don't have the sound quality of a high end speaker, but at this price, who cares!』

『I was suckered by the low price - these speakers are CRAP. I bought them to listen to background music while working on the computer, not for high volume use. But they produce extremely low volume and when the volume knob is turned up, they distort terribly. You get what you pay for, and these are a total waste of money. I sent them back immediately and am ordering more expensive speakers. What a waste of time ... my own fault ... buyer beware.』

『I'm somewhat torn about what to rate the S120s at. On one hand, I'm not at all impressed with the sound quality (and I'm no audiophile), but then again, I really don't have a wealth of experience with budget speakers so these may actually be among the better sounding ones (I've definitely heard worse). On the other hand, they are brand-name units and are built like a tank. Ultimately, I decided to give them the benefit of the doubt and rated them four stars as opposed to the three I was leaning toward.

As usual with Amazon, they arrived in an acceptable amount of time in good condition. I was disappointed to find them packaged in an OEM-style brown box when they were clearly identified as "Retail" units on the website when I ordered(I suppose it's possible brown boxes are the retail packaging for these). They're small (expected for budget speakers), but are quite solid with good fit-and-finish and have respectable heft for their size. Fairly plain, styling-wise, they're appearance is unobtrusive and, given their size, all but vanish on the desktop. The power and audio cables are long enough for most applications, though, being AC-powered, some may have issues with the relatively thick power cord causing placement difficulties. The power/volume knob and headphone jack are well-enough placed on the outboard side of the right speaker. Set-up is about as simple as possible--connect to source, plug-in power and switch on.

Functionally, they're good enough. They're reliable with a brief warm-up time and produce a decent amount of volume. There's minimal hiss and static and they don't really distort until cranked way up. The problem is the dynamic range, the bass is extremely weak. I'm not just talking about a lack of boom, I'm talking about sound that's anemic (borderline hollow) and somewhat washed-out and tinny (though I wouldn't go as far as harsh). The S120s look to be S220s without a subwoofer, so I'm guessing these speakers were designed to be run with a sub and would likely sound very good with one.

I guess it comes down to how tight of a budget are you on? If you absolutely can't spend more than $10-15, then these speakers are a very good choice, as I seriously doubt you'll do much better for the money. If you can spend the extra 15 or so dollars more, then the S220s (or other 2.1 systems) would likely prove a much better sounding option. Either way, for the money, the S120s are pretty darn good. Qualified recommended.』

『This is my third iPod, the others being a 40GB classic (hard drive model) and an 8GB 2g Nano (my wife's). I chose the Nano because I wanted something small and vibration tolerant that I could listen to while active (doing chores, exercising, etc.).

The Good:
* Simple, sleek, and cool--worthy of the Apple name.
* Small size and relatively large display.
* Navigation is straightforward, and syncing through iTunes is simple.
* The radio feature with live pause is great. Now when I'm interrupted I can just pause and resume without missing the broadcast.
* The video camera is a nice addition. As long as you realize it's more about convenience than quality you should be satisfied. On the Mac, your videos show up in iPhoto once you've enabled the Nano for disk use.
* The silver color coordinates nicely with aluminum iMacs.

The Bad:
* I want a dedicated volume control. Yes, I know this would interrupt Apple's minimalist design philosophy, but some functions deserve their own physical controls. There are times when the scroll wheel controls other functions (menu navigation, traversing saved radio stations) and thus you can't directly, immediately change the volume, which I find annoying. Instead, I have to pause the unit first or navigate to "Now Playing", which is a hassle.
* The Apple earbuds aren't going to win any audiophile awards. Their sound is pretty lousy, actually, but they're fine for listening when I'm engaged in an active task and don't have my full attention turned to listening.
* It doesn't charge from certain older iPod accessories. I have a JBL Soundstage and an iHome under-counter player, and neither can charge/control the Nano. Apparently they use the Firewire rather than USB interface internally, which newer iPods don't support this anymore. You can still play the iPod through the devices though.
* It's too easy to accidentally cover the camera lens when taking a video. I've found holding the Nano at the opposite end or along the edges works best, but it's a bit awkward due to the small size of the device.
* VoiceOver is an interesting feature, but I turned it off because it kept getting unintentionally triggered when I scanned forward/back in a track (mostly for podcasts).
* 16MB is probably enough for most people, but I have a large music collection and would like a larger memory option. Unfortunately this means moving to a bulkier model (the Touch or Classic).』

Pros: Extremely small. Just a little longer than an Altoids tin, and about as thick as a 3.5in floppy. 16G is plenty for what I need to be portable. I use this iPod primarily in my car, and it is vastly superior to the radio. Easy to use, as the iPods are made to be. No long learning curve on operation.
Cons: I'm not sure as to the necessity of the video on this. 16G isn't much if you plan to use your iPod for movies. Maybe a little too small; I have large hands, and this iPod feels a bit like a toy. it is nearly uncomfortable to hold, due to its small size.
All in all, I say: If you want this as an interim device to take jogging, or you need an iPod that you can slip in the pocket of tight jeans, get this one. 『I only need my rice cooker to cook rice so I do not care about all the other functionalities.
With that said, this cooker gives me perfectly cooked rice. Every grain is consistent in (good) quality unlike some other cheaper cookers. The coating is truely non-stick and clean up is extremely easy. The interface is easy to use and the overall construction is very solid.
Size-wise this cooker is perfect for small households. The 5 cups size is better than 3 cups for single households because the 3 cup ones cannot really handle it when you have one or two guests over. Highly recommended.』

(Great rice and hard/soft boiled eggs)
『This rice cooker is great. It makes great rice both white and brown. I was also pleasantly surprised at how well it makes hard boiled eggs. They turn out a lot better than boiling them in water. I punch a pin hole on the end of each egg before steaming them in the machine and the hard boiled eggs come out just like in a restaurant, if not better. You also do not have to do 8 at a time, just steam them for a few less minutes.』

(Great Brown Rice)
『I do eat a bit of rice but am more prone to keeping to brown rice. I had an old cheap rice cooker that basically turned on, cooked, and went to keep warm...no other settings. It also made quite a bit of starchy mess.

I have just made my first cup of rice in the Sanyo. The brown rice turned out great..a bit of crunch, soft, and not sticky at all. The cooker itself was a breeze to clean and nothing stuck to the cooker. I honestly was not too sure about buying a rice cooker for $100 plus but I am glad I did!

Next up is steaming.

BTW - included with this is a little recipe book..it seems pretty good.

『This cooker makes excellent rice. But so do the other two rice cookers in my kitchen. I bought this specifically for the Dol Sot Bibim Bap setting, and was very disappointed. I followed the instructions, but the cooker did not brown the rice on the bottom, which, as far as I am concerned, is the whole point of the dish. :-) If I run the cycle twice, I get do get browning, but I also get dried out rice too chewy to serve.
If you are looking for well-made brown or white rice, this is fine. But if you want dol sot bibim bap, this won't produce it for y ou.

『Although there are already 5 vacuum cleaning systems of varying sizes and degrees of complexity in the house, I get this small canister specifically for the multitude of electronics in my office.

It is quite small and the canister design allows access into tight space such as the inside of a PC. The power is more than adequate for this kind of jobs. The filters are washable and re-usable, so I don't have to worry about keeping replacement around. It is a little heavy for its size, mostly due to the Ni-Cd battery, which cleverly doubles as the stand. There are three nozzle heads, including one designed for pet hair. To me, three are enough for this light-duty vacuum unit.

As can be expected, the Achilles heel of a cordless electric appliance is its battery. The cheap Ni-Cd battery takes a long time to charge and a short time to drain. For cleaning PCs, the charge usually is sufficient. I am surprised, however, that this vacuum does not run on the power from the cord. Once the battery is out of juice, there is no alternative to waiting a few hours for it to recharge, which is not the most convenient thing.』

『This would be such a great tool if you had the option to plug it into an outlet for uninterupted power. It takes all day for a full charge and you only have 5-7 minutes to use it before the battery runs out. I vacumed one set of blinds and one curtain and it was done. Not worth the money. However, if you Black and Decker decided to re-design with a power cord; I would re-purchase in a heart beat :)』

『This is quite handy little vac, and with the extendable hose, it will reach most any where.
Yes the battery runs down at about 6 minutes, but if I have a big job, I use my regular
vac. It is as loud as my regular vac. I recommend this.』

『Bought this product primarily for cleaning the car and small accidents and jobs around the house. The cordless feature is a definite plus when doing the car and quick jobs like vacuuming a hard to reach corner, edging or books/bookcases. It did a nice job of a dusting off a bookcase that hadn't been cleaned in several months, but I found that emptying the dust from the bin was not quite an open and shake operation. A bunch of the dust clumps in the back of the collector bin filter did not empty out until I removed the filters and used a small brush to help it empty out.

The vacuum is extremely portable and (for me) has a rather loud whinning motor noise. But I guess this is to be expected with a small vacuum with exposed exhaust. Trumps the dustbuster I previously owned with more suction and a hose feature.』

『I inwardly groan whenever my kids ask to watch this movie. But while my husband and I don't like it, I'm giving it 3 stars because my kids LOVE it and let's face it, we're buying this for our kids, not us. My 3-year old son wants to watch this movie again and again. He's even been known to sleep with the DVD at night!

『Ok, people who have said that this movie makes no sense are absolutely right but to be fair, please read the rest of the review! My kid LOVES it and it is tolerable to me.

I have watched this movie MANY times now and some parts really make NO sense. It is as though the writers gave up in some areas and said, "Well, it's fantasy, it doesn't have to make sense!" I mean, what's with the bat and ball at bedtime? Why is a rabbit leaving him a note? Why does it matter if Cous is allergic to grass? Thomas falls off the mountain and sinks into the ground magically? They figure out the "riddle" that made no sense and seriously, no one in their right mind would be able to get..... there are so many unanswered questions!!

I wanted to take away 2 stars for the weird story line and plot points that make less than no sense, but seriously, my kid LOVES it and isn't that the point? I keep reminding myself that 80% of the movie makes sense and has great morals and that the other 20% has to be doing something for his imagination.

So, I took away 1 star for the weak story and for Peter Fonda's AWFUL acting ("Oh Lily, I'm so glad to see you" *deadpan face*) otherwise, it is worth it. The songs are cute and my kid adores it.

All I can say is, "Small small small, teeny weeny weeny." Hehehe.』

『Thomas, as anyone familiar with the eponymous, wildly popular TV series knows, is a very useful engine, and never more so than in his first theatrical release, which was a modest box-office success. On a tank filled with little more than pluck, determination, and goodwill, Thomas sets out full steam ahead on a danger-fraught mission to help his friend Mr. Conductor. The conductor's stash of magic gold dust has run out, leaving him stranded on the Island of Sodor with Junior, his flaky cousin, and Lily, a little girl enlisted to lift her grandfather out of a funk on nearby Muffle Mountain. 『It is unfortunate the video shows two homosexual men in the bath. There is no reason for it other than another attempt by the media to portray homosexuality as 'normal'. The psychologist that led the American Psychiatric Association to remove homosexuality from their list of psychological disorders several years ago, is now lobbying them to return it to the original status of being considered a psychological disorder. His decision is based, in part, on the fact that extensive research (and the research of many other reputable studies) shows that LESS THAN 3% of the population is homosexual. Their studies also demonstrate that over 97% of homosexuals have been sexually abused at some point in their life. The liberal media never discusses these facts. In short, there is a mountain of statistical evidence to demonstrate that homosexuality is NOT normal.
It's no wonder that so many parents correctly choose to teach their children that homosexuality is NOT normal, healthy behavior.

The intricacy of the dances as well as the beautiful costumes from various regions of Russia are a joy to see. It is a fun video to watch, but also educational in learning about the wide range of customs and dances from all over Russia which, if my memory serves me, covers ELEVEN TIME ZONES. It is little wonder that there is so much diversity within this vast country.』

『In an Amazon search for "Russian folk dance" videos - (and there aren't more than 2 listed!) - I found this video but did not want to purchase it after reading a dissapointing 2-star review by a previous viewer.

But, being hungry for russian dance and music I had to make up my mind based upon a 5-star review and a 2-star review.
I sure am glad I didn't take that person seriously because I am absolutely breathless from watching this incredible video. I don't know what kind of "perfection" he was looking for but the fact that these dances are being performed outdoors in natural settings greatly enhanced my enjoyment of this fantastic film.

I have seen these dances many times performed on stages in big cities but NEVER have I seen them so artistically done in their original ethnic settings. On magnificent mountaintops and the edges of cliffs. Under trees and high above flowing rivers. These performers dance on GRASS and they make it look effortless - as if it was a wooden ballet stage. Unbelievable!

It is, without a doubt, one of the most awesome videos I have in my collection.

『I expected some of the spectacular, athletic dancing we usually associate with Russian folk dancing; however, there were only a few such performances. Most of the singing/dancing was slower paced, low skill level, and, to my taste, quite boring. It was interesting to realize the broad multi-ethnic spectrum that Russia encompasses, but each performance was repetitive and dragged on too long. Tony Randall's narration was no help.』

『Before the Moiseyev Dance Company dazzled the world with its
theatricalized folkloric dances from the Soviet Union, the first
theatrical folkloric group was founded by Mitrofan Pyatnitsky, a
business clerk and aspiring opera singer from Voronezh in southern
Russia, near Ukraine. His folk singing ensemble had its premiere in
Moscow in 1911 and was an instant success. In 1938, dancers and an
instrumental ensemble were added to the group. This same Pyatnitsky
Song and Dance Ensemble is the first group shown in this film. The
other groups are the Uzbekistan National Song and Dance Ensemble, the
Siberian Singers and Dancers of Omsk and the Moldavian National Song
and Dance Ensemble.

Narrated by Tony Randall, this documentary
appears to have been made around 1964-1965, judging by the women's
makeup and hairstyles (no date is shown either in the film or on the
jacket). "Russian," as it is used in the title, means "from the
Soviet Union." Only the Pyatnitsky Ensemble and the troupe from Omsk
actually perform ethnic Russian songs and dances. Many of the dances
are performed outdoors, in beautiful locations. The film looks a bit
old and sometimes the narration is a little corny, but it's still a
very enjoyable experience.

The Pyatnitsky Ensemble performs Russian
and Ukrainian songs and dances. The costumes are gorgeous and the
music, some of which is polyphonic, is magnificent. I often put in
the tape just to listen to the first full song when my spirits needs a
lift. There is a wedding (or perhaps betrothal) scene in this
segment, which has some very authentic singing and dancing. I saw
just such dancing in 1990 at a wedding reception in Moscow, when the
"dinner music"orchestra broke into a Russian folk tune.
Suddenly many of the urbane Muscovites broke into Russian folk
dancing, with the women waving handkerchiefs and the men slapping
their boots (well, shoes).

The Omsk ensemble is shown in excerpts
from a folk opera. The highlight is a men's dance of the exciting,
bravura style commonly associated with Russian or Ukrainian folkloric
dancing. I am always amazed at the strength of these men who can jump
endlessly in and out of squats, but I have to wonder whether, 35 years
later, they can still walk.

Folk dance purists may object to
labeling these dances"folkloric,"as they are considerably
influenced by the western theatrical dance aesthetic, and not only in
that the dancers are ballet trained. In many cases, what once would
have been improvised solo dances have been turned into unison group
dances that make use of corps de ballet-like formations and staging, a
practice that stems from a desire to make folk dances more interesting
to an audience. Despite this tampering, the performers in this film
retain much of the original flavor of their regional dances.

The
dances of Uzbekistan show the influence of the cultures that conquered
it, primarily Persian and Mongol. Most of the dancers shown are
women, who display the beautiful, graceful hand and arm gestures
prevalent in Eastern dance. The music in this segment is very
beautiful, and the scenery spectacular.

The dances and music of
Moldova (then Moldavia) are very similar to those of Rumania, which it
borders. These dances have not been tampered with as much as the
others, probably because they are unison line or couple dances to
begin with, and the fast footwork is in itself enough to keep Western
audiences awake. The Moldavian segment also has a wedding
celebration, with an excellent--and authentic--instrumental
ensemble.

What I especially love about"Russian Folk Song and
Dance"is the enjoyment the performers project. This is what I
remember about the dancers in the Moiseyev when I saw them in the
early '60s. However, in a 1995 tape of the Moiseyev, the dancers look
to me like ballet dancers doing folksy steps, and not always
enthusiastically. By contrast, the dancers in this film, though they
do study ballet, actually belong to the ethnic group whose songs and
dances they are performing. Perhaps this is why they project such
obvious pride in their work.

『This was a classic World Series, and the last "traditional" Series, before the LCS was added. Bob Gibson dominated Detroit in the series, striking out 17 in Game 1, but was bested by Mickey Lolich, who won all three of his starts, including Game 7.

One of the top World Series of all time.』

『I was 13 years old when the Tigers won the World Series. I attended 3 games that wonderful summer - one with my Dad who died this year. One of the great times me and my Dad spent together. Norm Cash was my hero when I was a little kid - he had won the batting title in 1961 and he was a great guy. Kaline, McClain, Freehan, Lolich,Wilson, Horton, Northrup, Stanley, Oyler, Wert and all the rest the comeback kids. They did it all season - Gates Brown was super as a pinch hitter that wonderful summer!!! The World Series was just unforgettable - Gibson was great beating McClain in game one striking out 17 Tigers -- one of the best pitched games I ever saw.... Lolich was great in game 2 and game 7 -- the Tigers never gave up... even being down 3 games to one..... the play at the plate when Brock got thrown out by Horton was the turning point of the series............. I have watched baseball for 45+ years and that season was my all time favorite!!!!!!!!! Thanks Tigers...........』

    How it Works
    You'll notice how smoothly and easily VoiceOver works. A lot of thought went into creating an iPod nano that not only talks, but says the right things. It all begins with iTunes and its seamless integration with iPod nano. First, iTunes reads your song information, then uses the VoiceOver Kit to generate the announcements for the songs, artists, and playlists. Just sync your iPod nano to your computer and it really speaks to you.

    It Speaks Multiple Languages
    Your music library has songs from all over the world--a love song from France, a bolero from Spain, a pop tune from Japan. Luckily, VoiceOver speaks fluent song.

    iTunes selects the language and best voice for your song titles and artist names. It looks at song data, like the title, artist, and album information, then applies intelligent algorithms to choose the right language. For example, iTunes recognizes the song "Ya Viene el Sol� by Ozomatli as a Spanish song, so your iPod nano will automatically speak that song title and artist in Spanish. If you prefer to hear that information spoken in another language, you can change the designated VoiceOver language for that song in iTunes.

    『We bought this kit for some summer fun. It was difficult to follow the directions (even my older teens had trouble - the bracelets do not come out like the patterns show) and it made pretty chunky bracelets. Also, if you make the floss lengths as directed, the bracelets are pretty short (will fit younger kids better) - they won't stay on the "loom" long enough to make them longer. Also, the loom isn't very sturdy and would bend and the slots got frayed after a few bracelets. My kids would have liked to make some skinnier styles but the kit only came with 4 wide patterns. It takes a lot of floss to make a bracelet so plan on buying extra floss if you want to make more than 4-5 bracelets. All in all, it was a good purchase but not something that will be used over and over again.』

The directions were very easy to follow.(I am not a crafty person and the fact that I was able to pull it off was amazing!) She and I spent much of the car ride each making a bracelet. I had mine(flower pattern) done and she was wearing it for our trip. It goes very quickly once you get the motion down. She got hers(multicolored) almost finished by time we reached our arrival.     『This project is so cool. When you first look at it you would never believe that it would make a bracelet, but it does! I have done a little research and people have said that this product is based off of a old Japanese loom-type-thing. I think it is amazing and my grandmother couldn't believe it either. The only band thing is the embroidery floss. It does not come in many colors, it has a knot tying together the two ends that is very hard to get undone, and in the middle of my first project a piece broke in my hand so I had to start all over again. Luckily I had already ordered embroidery floss that should be here soon.』
