My advice: try to find a combo pack that includes one filter because 3 filters is probably 2 too many. If you have 2 Roombas, like we do, then purchasing this pack does make sense.

I punch a pin hole on the end of each egg before steaming them in the machine and the hard boiled eggs come out just like in a restaurant, if not better. You also do not have to do 8 at a time, just steam them for a few less minutes.』
(Great Brown Rice) 『I do eat a bit of rice but am more prone to keeping to brown rice. I had an old cheap rice cooker that basically turned on, cooked, and went to keep warm...no other settings. It also made quite a bit of starchy mess.
I have just made my first cup of rice in the Sanyo. The brown rice turned out great..a bit of crunch, soft, and not sticky at all. The cooker itself was a breeze to clean and nothing stuck to the cooker. I honestly was not too sure about buying a rice cooker for $100 plus but I am glad I did!
Next up is steaming.
BTW - included with this is a little recipe book..it seems pretty good.

It was said that she was recording an album but I was dubious. Several years ago, Meav, another of the Celtic Women, dropped out and it was said she was recording her own album as well. I have yet to see it. I thought the same thing was happening here. Boy was I wrong. This is an absolutely wonderful album and Orla has never sounded better or sweeter. I won't go into all of the songs but my favorite is the song "Always There." Absolutely gorgeous. I also love the title track "Distant Shore" and the first track "Who Knows." However all the other tracks are wonderful as well. I listen to it in my car and find it totally relaxing. I saw Orla recently on PBS and surprisingly she looks younger and better than on the previous DVDs from 2004 and 2006 (not that she looked bad there either.) Some of us are getting older, Orla gets younger. In conclusion, this is a wonderful album and a triumph for Orla. I highly recommend it.』
(Good for what it is, but not great - disapointed) 『If you like popular music, you will probably like this CD. If you were expecting the Irish Traditional or Celtic songs with Orla's souring vocals and amazing harp, well, not so much.
Switching back and forth between clips of this CD and The Water Is Wide clearly shows the difference in vocal quality. The Water Is Wide brings tears to my eyes. I'm sorry, but Distant Shore almost sounds like Orla sang it after sucking on an ice cube. Also seems a little tinny. Maybe needed a better microphone? She still sounds good, but not like one of the worlds best singers she has sounded like in the past.
I'll listen a few more times. Maybe it'll grow on me. I would have prefered just Orla and her harp.』

I have played the album over and over and over. If I should die tomorrow, I will know that my life has been fulfulled having heard this most wondrous music (and having raised 4 magnificent children and have completely loved two men in my life.)

(Great movie and soundtrack!!) 『We all know that what makes or breaks a movie is the soundtrack. This is entirely the case with master and commander. I mean sure, it would still be a kick @$$ action movie with excellent actors like Russell Crowe and heart thumping moments like the intense battles where there is so much smoke from the cannons you can't see the guy in front of you. But, what holds the movie in my mind is the soundtrack. I've seen so many action movies the fighting doesn't really stay in my mind that long. The soundtrack, however, really helps tie together the action and the not-so-action parts. Christopher Gordon, Richard Tognetti and the others who wrote it did a great job! I like the few classical pieces they place in there to make it feel like you're really there in 1805. And let's not forget the excellent music composed by Gordon, Tognetti and others. It gives me a mental picture of the movie every time I listen to it!! I recommend buying the movie and the soundtrack. Also check out some of the other movies Russell Crowe has been in, he does a great job!!』

MOST IMPORTANTLY,the message of this movie is one of the most inspiring I have ever seen. You see the transforming power of the good news of the gospel in different peoples lives in a very realistic way. We saw how each character are in danger of destroying their own lives without the love of God touching their hearts. The main male character would have become unfaithful if not for his repentence to come back to God. His repentence was not just in words or feeling, but in his recommittment to his wife. You also see the brother of the main male character being changed by God, turning from his hedonistic life and start to live for God.
This movie inspired me to cherish my own vow to my wife and to love her selflessly because God loved me trillion times more. I agree with one of the reviewers that all engaged or married couples should see this movie.
secular movies can be very entertaining and well filmed. However,after seeing Billy Graham's film, I realized secular movies have oftentime left me with no peace but a craving for more entertainment if I don't protect my heart and mind when I am watching them.
This movie is inspiring and encouraging. Easily one of my favorite.

Prior to this, Snead had held a 3-0 series edge in tour playoffs, including the famous win at the 1954 Masters. Hogan played his guts out at Houston, hitting 18 fairways and 18 greens. Career grand slam winner Gene Sarazen called Ben's round the best from tee to green that he'd seen in his 63 years. Officially, it ended 69-72, misleading since Hogan missed many holeable putts, the bane of the ageing golfer.Do not be too quick to turn off your video either. Two men who combined to win 16 major titles had more understandable technique tips after the match than one will hear from a modern pro in hours of lessons.』
(Great look at Hogan playing) 『If you are a big Hogan fan this is definitely worth getting. There are not many places where you can actually see Ben hitting shots and playing golf other than this. Ben hits all 14 fairways and 18 greens during this match and with a little better putting could have shot a really low score. Much is made about Ben playing a fade but on the first hole been hits a draw driver and a draw iron into the green. He basically played whatever the hole called for. This is a real classic match and a must see for Ben Hogan or Sam Snead fans.』
(Beautiful swings) 『This video not only brings back the memory of two of the worlds greatest golfers of all time, but reminds me of the consistancy and longevity of these two titans. Before there was Palmer, Nicklaus, or Earl Wood had a gleam in his eye, these two prowled the circut along with Lord Byron and dominated the sport for almost two decades. When this video was shot, Hogan was basically putting the finishing touches on his career, yet would still particpate in majors and some charity events till the end of the 60's. Snead however would continue to play the circut, and would be instrumental in developing the Seniors circut we see today. This video is well worth the price just to see the two go at it for 18, (Hogan never played a match just for fun) and while Houston CC is a fairly wide open venue, it still is a competitive course. By the way Hogan hits all 18 in regulation. The video is a little goofy at the beginning talking about the evolution of Houston and its future but all in all a fun trip for those of us who remember the two or any younger folks who truly want to see two of the most contrasting yet finest swings ever.』

Although it's plugged into the wall, you also have to install a 9 volt battery. Most devices that have a battery back up don't drain the battery while the unit is plugged in. Not this alarm! I probably go through 3-4 9 volt batteries each winter. And if the battery starts to lose it's charge, or you dare to leave the battery out, the alarm beeps every few minutes.
Another important thing to note about this alarm... although it can carbon monoxide and natural gas, you're supposed to mount the device at different heights depending on the gas you're trying to detect. In other words, it does'nt really serve it's dual purpose.
Although I've already lost the $50, I'll be buying a different alarm for this season. I can't take dealing with its battery problems anymore.』

THe only two negatives would be the battery does not last long but we use it on the charger or we found a 9v plug that works with it so we plug it in while we are using it and that fixed that problem. The other is I wish you could adjust the volume - its either loud or non-existent. It does have an alarm function which i love - if you turn the volume off - it will alert you with a beeping noise if the baby is crying without hearing the cries. The lights also turn red. It is also smart in the way that if you have a sound machine in the baby's room, it picks up that its a constant and will not go off for that noise - it seperates that from crying which is great. Honestly, I think this monitor prob works a lot better than the cheapy baby ones out there and its less expensive. (Excellent for the price) 『We have owned 2 other wireless cameras both which broke. This camera is well made, has range that extends well beyond the house. We took the monitor deep into our 250 foot yard and could see clear images at least 150 feet from the house. The night mode works well and the audio has a very clever mechanism that keeps it mute unless a sound is made. This makes constant static, that many similar monitors suffer from, something that does not need to be dealt with all night. Most people use these to monitor a child. We do the same. We use this on our son and it is easily moved from room to room. The recharging cradle helps keep the monitor fresh and usable all evening.
The only thing that could make this better is another charging unit for the camera and rechargeable batteries for that. Still most people will not move the camera frequently enough for that to be a necessity. (Amazing TV Miniseries, Very Moving and Affecting) 『The Corner is wonderful and I can't believe I hadn't seen this show before. I've been a fan of The Wire for years and watched all the seasons. I feel that The Corner is actually better than The Wire. The Corner takes place in Baltimore where a street corner is run by teenage men selling drugs. The adults seem to be drug addicts and hopeless most of the time and the younger set seem to be sellers and abusers. One family is unique. The parents had good jobs and the father had one year of college - amazing in these parts. The mother became an abuser and partier of cocaine and eventually the father took to herion. His explanation is that the people doing drugs around him including his wife were criticizing him and encouraging him to do it. He thought people would like him better if he abused drugs too. Unfortunately, they liked him less. A young girl at 13 has a baby. The young man doesn't go to school or work, he hangs on the corner. All this is based on real story and ring true. Some people survive, others don't but all still live in this area.』

(Fantastic hair clipper) 『My husband likes to wear his hair in a "buzz" cut, just like those given to new military recruits. For several years, I cut his hair with a "Vidal Sassoon" clipper purchased at Wal-Mart. I hated it. Not only was it so loud that we both had to wear ear plugs, it didn't cut well, pulling his hair and leaving sprigs and gaps behind. It sometimes took up to an hour to finish cutting his hair, and even then I had to cut stragglers with scissors. This Oster clipper, which I believe is used by military barbers, is a marvel. It zips through my husband's hair like the proverbial hot knife through butter. We're all done in little more than 5 minutes. It has some heft to it, but it cuts so quickly that the weight is not a problem. And it's much less noisy. No more ear plugs required :) It cost about twice what we paid for the Sassoon clipper, but it's well worth it.』

But I had managed to dump a cola into my old white Apple keyboard, rendering it into a crusty sticky mess, so I said what the heck, it's just a keyboard and if it doesn't work I will get another one.
So how does it work? GREAT! I've been touch typing for over 25 years now and while this isn't the *best* keyboard I've ever used, it's certainly a good one. The keys have enough travel and feedback that you know when you've done the keypress but don't require so much effort as to make typing a chore. The spacing is excellent. I *never* hit the wrong key. Never. Do you know how unusual that is with the typical pathetic mess that passes as a "computer keyboard" nowdays?! And you can plug your mouse or mouse fob into the keyboard to reduce the number of wires going to your computer, it comes with two low-power USB ports too.
My only beef: It isn't lighted, so it's hard to use in a dark room. I must admit that I've become addicted to the lighted keyboard on the Macbook Pro, it makes typing in the dark easy. Still, until Apple releases a lighted keyboard this is the best keyboard I've found thus far for my Mac. It works *much* better than it looks like it should...』

The one I had was an HP Officejet but the trays were missing from the move and the print in color was real bad now as I think it was beacuse of lack of use of color. It set up real fast as I had nothing to do just plugged it in and put in the software and it was ready to go, although you have to install for each computer you have it does take a bit long but it does it all by itself no problem. I LOVE the fact that I can just say print and don't have to drag my notebook to the printer anymore. It's a bit noisy as it seem to clean up alot and takes it a while to get going but it's very reliable and it scans and prints and copies for me easily haven't had the scanning problems I had with the older version and I run VISTA.
Great product for the price as far as I can see if you need all the goodies, I don't fax but I do scan everything into PDF which is my way of filing everything so it's great for me and it does it all real fast and even does a one button tranfer to whichever computer you want. 』
(HP6500W) 『Purchased about a month ago to replace and HP6100. Althought it is a wireless unit we just pluged it into our router because we have extenders on the network. Works good. The scan software is a little iffy in that sometimes it will just forget what it is suppose to do from the front panel. However its good other than that.
The problem with all of the HP printers is the cost of INK. You know where they make their money. We had a v40 at our place at the beach and we probably printed 20 pages over a year and the cartridge just quit. I later heard that HP has a way of killing it after the system see a year regardless of the amount of ink.
However the 6500 is compact net and for buck and a half its good.

(Great Sound, but will it break easily?) 『I bought this headset for my HP Mini which has a combined jack for mic and headphones -- you can only use one of those devices at a time ! So, the only way I could find to use a separate headset was to buy a USB model. Having used Plantronics products for years, I anticipated a quality unit. The audio quality from both the headphones and microphone is excellent. Listening to music is a pleasure with quite good bass response and what my ears consider to be a good range of frequency response. Using the headset on Skype, the reports from those I have called are good.
My only real concern is the durability of the headset. It is plastic and there are a lot of joints to deal with. With care, it should last. When folded it fits nicely into a larger size soft-side sunglasses case which may offer some protection in my briefcase. Time will tell. Another minor issue is the length of the cord. It is about 9' long and simply WAY too long for use while traveling. I ended up bundling and tie-wrapping about 5' of the cord neatly to keep it out of the way.
As usual, Amazon shipped it reaonably quickly in a box but with minimal packing material. Thankfully Plantronics packaged it well enough that it didn't get destroyed enroute. Come on Amazon, learn to pack things properly ! ! !

As I'm writing this, I decided to put a Velcro tie onto the cord - I just did it: I created a loop of 2 or 3 feet of cord and tied it together to shorten the cord. I should be able to release the Velcro in a few seconds to lengthen the cord, whenever I want it longer.』

Little is right if you're going to treat this DSLR as a fancy P&S camera, but I think the point of buying a camera of this type (as opposed to some of the cheaper P&S's) should include: being able to get better IQ, take faster action shots and to shoot in darker conditions. We can't minimize the D3000's reduced noise handling ability in relation to the less expensive and older D40 it purports to replace (the third such attempted replacement, I may add) ([...]). You simply can't take good indoor shots (or darker) without ugly flash glare or more expensive lighting at ISO 200 on these models (can you do it at 400?). In addition, I challenge any hobbyist to be able to tell the differnece between the D3000's "faster frame rate" and the D40 in actual use (3fps v. 2.5fps); you'd have to go to 5 or 6 fps and a higher baffle before you get a workable difference, at least for my hard-earned $$. (One of the greatest cameras of all time, the Canon 5D Mark II, barely does 5fps). The D3000's GUIDE Mode will annoy anyone who actually learns the relationship between ISO, Aperature, and Shutter Speed and while useful for a newbie, not something you'd want to use for too long. The D3000's LCD is slightly larger physically, but the resolution isn't really increased from the D40 so the image produced isn't all that fetching; it's not bad, but it doesn't exactly add to its buy-me factor, either. Does this make the D3000 a bad camera? Of course not, its a good camera, but you can still get a NEW D40 for less and maybe we can't blame Nikon using fluff to try to boost its newbie/Noob sales or because it can't coax the same noise handling ability from its larger sensor.
Finally, yeah, the D3000 does have a few more MP's, but so did the D40x and so does the D60 and so do MANY P&S's...and they're still selling new D40's (and oh yeah, the D3000 is dropping to where it (along with its great VR lens) almost matches the D40's price and my earlier arguments become a bit moot)...don't buy into the MP Hype the sales people use to sell camera's (don't be a Noob); unless you are printing larger than 16x20 posters, 6 MP is all you will ever need, and its not a reason (by itself) to give up your hard earned $$. If you "need" things like DOF, older lens compatibility, flash control, higher frame-rate, a usable ADL/ADR assisted camera (students of photography don't really need live view...), then go for the D90 - my .02 =)』
(Nikon going in the wrong direction) 『I owned a D60 but I gave it to my sister. Bought this D3000 for myself since it seemed to be better than the D0 specs wise. Boy was I wrong. The pictures from this thing are terrible compared to the D60. Now the D60 itself needed a lot of ISO twiddling then it came down to increasing the depth of field in indoor settings. With the D60, I typically always used to shoot at f10-f16 at ISO800 with in body flash to get a better DOF and D60 did a very good job of handling&suppressing the noise at ISO800, however with this D3000, the pictures at ISO 8000 are turning out to be garbage with too much noise showing. If you are interested in only potraits, you might be OK but for shots where some subjects are 4-5 ft behind others in indoor settings, this camera is going to make it virtually impossible to take good pictures in that setting. The quality of the LCD screen seems to have dropped too.. This is going back, I think I am going to order another D60 while it is still available.』

(Great bang for your buck!!) 『I love this camera I really do! I got it a week ago and have already taken almost 1000 pictures (but thats no problem with my 4 gb extreme 3 memory card!) What can I say! I love photography!! I had a canon powershot sd750 point and shoot and let me tell you that camera was no wimp. It gave me stunning shots while retaining lightness and compactness. But it was starting to limit me a bit. Like all the action shots I would take would come out blurry and outdoor shots of animals and such were no better. So I read up on a lot of dslr's for a long time and finally decided on this one. The day I got it I shot 200 shots. It was ready to use right out of the box! I had recently purchased a 4gb extreme 3 memory card and that went immeadiately into my camera. I absolutely love this camera. I didn't realize how badly I had been needing a camera like this!! There is a drawback though! I dont know if it is a defect on mine or not but it will only shoot four frames in a burst and then it slows down to one frame per second and at times slower than that. I dont know quite what to do but this is not to much of a drawback! I can get great action shots still with no problem! Anyway I debated a long time whether to get the canon rebel xs or this but this ultimately looked like a better camera. I would highly reccomend it for its ease of use and user friendliness. If your looking for a step up form a point and shoot this is the camera for you! But if you have a d40 or a d60 I would reccomend the d90 as an update for this camera! The d90 is $1100 but is worth every penny! P.S. I will update this review if I find out why it will only shoot four frames in a burst. Edit... If you have active d lighting on it will slow down how fast your camera processes pictures. If you turn it off you can shoot as many as you want.』
(Great Camera for Beginners) 『This is a great camera for beginners.
This is my first DSLR and I've had it for about a month. Since I'm a beginner myself, I can't really speak to the technical aspects of the camera, but will try to cover the basics as much as possible.
BUILD QUALITY - This is an entry-level DSLR, so don't fool yourself into thinking that you're buying a robust, professional level camera. That means that the body and lens (including the lens mount, which is the ring that attaches the lens to the body) are plastic. Although this makes for lighter equipment, it also isn't generally as sturdy as some of the higher level cameras. HOWEVER, when I actually went to BestBuy and camera stores, I found that the Nikon cameras (when you actually picked them up in-hand) in this niche felt much sturdier and of much higher quality than the competitors. Does that mean they'll last longer? Not necessarily, but for what it's worth, the Nikons really did feel better.
FEATURES - In this day and age, this is really a bare-bones DSLR. The only camera I cross-shopped with this was the D5000. There are MANY differences between the two, the largest of which is the nicer processor. But don't get fooled! That doesn't mean that the D3000 can't take great pictures... Anyhow, onto the features. It has a 10MP processor which is more than adequate for me, and the average beginner. It has a really large screen, which takes up the whole back of the camera almost. However, as many reviewers have noted, it's not that sharp! This was probably the biggest disappointment of the camera. My point and shoots have less-pixelized screens! But overall, it's not a big deal. The other minute feature is the Guide Mode. I've found it to be less than helpful and don't even use it at all anymore, and I've only had it for a month or so. THE BIGGEST FEATURES that you won't find on the D40/D60 cameras is the ADL feature and the 11 autofocus points... ADL stands for Active D-Lighting, and improves color somehow (the best way I can describe it, and I'm probably technically wrong but, it preserves actual colors better). The only drawback is that it's relatively slow on the D3000. The 11 autofocus points is great. The D40/D60 only has three, and they're all aligned along the same horizontal line, which is right in the middle of the camera. When composing a shot, ti's nice to be able to set an autofocus point not directly in the middle of the shot. Anyhow, this camera was appealing to me because of it's bare-bone feature set. I didn't want Live View or Video, and I'd basically be paying for those features if I were to step up to the D5000.
PICTURE QUALITY - Ah, probably the most important aspect of the camera... and I don't know what to say about it! I'm a beginner, so I don't know what makes a great photo, and DEFINITELY have no idea how this camera shoots vs. another one. What I've read is that the D3000 shoots relatively noisy pictures, but that it doesn't necessarily preclude you from shooting great photos (by adjusting things like ISO). I DON'T KNOW THIS FROM EXPERIENCE, JUST WHAT I'VE READ! Oh, and noise is basically random color pixels in a photo. It doesn't look good. All I can say is that I'll update this review as I figure it out!
RECOMMENDATIONS - If you're a beginner, I'd recommend picking up a book such as "Understanding Exposure" by Bryan Peterson. That book, coupled with the D3000 will help you understand the basics of photography and how to use a digital SLR. Also, get the kit, not just the body! The price difference is currently $100, and from what I've seen, you can sell the lens itself for more. Remember, the kit lens has VR, which the D40 and D60 didn't come with. So there are those out there who might want a cheap upgrade (and in DSLR world, $150 for a decent lens is cheap!).
Also, the kit lens is great, but in addition to that, I'd recommend the relatively cheap 35mm f/1.8G AF-S DX lens... you should eventually get a prime lens, and for this camera, this is arguably the best one out there, especially for the price. Also2, get a flash that tilts upward so you can bounce it off the ceiling! I went with the Nikon SB400 and it's worked well so far.
CONCLUSION - Like I said, this is a great beginners camera. The great things about it are the 11 autofocus points, ADL option, compact size, great ergonomics and size, build quality, and easy-to-use menu. The drawbacks are the older processor, plasticky feel (I don't mind it, and furthermore it feels solid), and disappointing screen. Overall, it's a great camera to purchase if you're thinking about getting into DSLRs... If you find you LOVE photography, it will help you develop as a photographer and understand what you are doing until you're ready to upgrade to something more serious.
