(The Perfect Book Light)
『I have owned at least 8 book lights over the years. Some last for a year or so and others fail miserably in a couple of weeks.
This light is by far the best one I have ever used. It has a nice bright LED light that will illuminate a paperback (both pages) and a hardback (both pages) easily but cuts the light off at the edge of the beam so that others are not bothered by the light being on.
It has a long flexible neck that seems to be very durable and holds its position.
The batteries last a long time as well.
It clips to the back of the book and stays in place and is lightweight.
I would buy 10 more of these without hesitation.

I have had mine for over 5 years now and it is still going strong!』

So, this year, we started on WWII and I checked this series out. I never like history and didn't remember much at all from my days in school(even in college, I thought history was boring and just about dates!) Ken Burns makes my kids ask for history and they talk about what we watched that day. Great presentation and yes, heart-wrenching.』

『I found the format of "The War" very interesting. I was ten years old when the war ended. I lived in Homer,a small town in upstate New York, and can remember taking part in many projects to help "end the war", such as collecting tin cans, milkweed pods and tinfoil. Nearly everyone had a victory garden. As the Ken Burns film showed, those of us back home were very involved in helping to win the war.
Twenty years later I was in the Army and was stationed in Italy and Occupied Austria. I was then able to see, first hand, some of the places where the war took place. Even though I was fortunate not to have been directly involved in the war, I feel I was touched by it. As fate would have it, I was never touched by war again,even though I spent twenty years in the military.
This film is a "must see" for all Americans.』

『This is one of the funniest movies that has ever been made. The who's who of Hollywood during this time era is extrodinary and they are all in this movie. The movie came in excellent condition and arrived right on time. If you want to laugh your fanny off with anyone this is the movie to watch. Suiteable for even the most grumpiest old farts.........』

(One Of A Kind)
『There are three versions of It's A Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World. A laser disc version in which they "attempted" to restore the original cut footage from the road show release. However, because over the years they treated the cut footage as garbage, the color now looks like garbage. So you have the garbage footage inter-cut with the current release print they're using.

Finally, they came out with a DVD version in 2001. That version had the bonus material that that the laser disc had, only they put it on the flip side of the main movie instead of a second disc (easier to damage). Although the picture quality is okay when compared to laser disc and VHS, it appears to be from the same master and leaves much to be desired when viewed on today's HD televisions. Another problem I've noticed with many MGM DVDs, especially those of UA releases, is that they seem to use any old release print to master their DVDs of older films from. The result is that you see dirt and scratches in the film. One particular MGM/UA DVD that was originally in Cinerama, The Hallelujah Trail, looks like they dragged the film on the floor first. To make matters worse, it was a letterboxed NON-ANAMORPHIC version. When compared to an anamorphic or as some manufacturers call it, "Enhanced for 16:9 televisions" DVD, the anamorphic DVDs have MUCH better resolution than plain letterboxed DVDs. The mystery is that it cost no more to make the anamorphic DVD master, so you have to wonder what they're thinking. While I don't know what they're thinking, I can tell you what the end result has been for me. Just to name two DVDs off hand (not MGM/UA). I bought Field Of Dreams and To Kill A Mockingbird (Universal) when they came out. Both turned out to be letterboxed non-anamorphic. The quality of Mockingbird was pretty poor. Then, a year or two later both were "released" again, however, this time they were anamorphic. And while Mockingbird still wasn't great, it was MUCH better than the original. I think I have at least 12 movies that I had to purchase twice because of this, so I wonder if it's intentional on their part.

The current DVD release is a one sided version that doesn't have the bonus material that the original 2-sided DVD release had. The only thing that was increased is the price. Just like other films that are true classics, Mad World deserves to be restored (assuming that what was used for the current release are really the best elements currently available) just like what was done for Lawerance Of Arabia, My Fair Lady, etc. and released on Blu-ray.

As for the movie itself, let me just say what the original advertising said: "Anyone who's ever been funny is in it", and I will add to it by saying and then some. This is the type of picture that should really be watched in a theatre that is full on a Saturday night. The only other caveat is that it's even funnier if you are familiar with some of the comediennes in the film. That is because somehow, the genius of Stanley Kramer has created a link between what these comediennes were famous for and their roles and appearances in the plot.

The bottom line is that this is one film that's NOT TO BE MISSED.』

『I rememeber watching this for the first time when I was 8 years old. The plot is hilarious, but the problem is the movie is too long. I found this to be non-stop slapstick comedy something not done too often these days. Some were memorable like when Jim Backus flies Mickey Rooney, and Buddy Hackett in a private plane Backus dies, and Hackett and Rooney are left to fly the plane on thier own. Then the annoying part of the movie was with the loud-mouthed opinionated shrew who harasses poor Johnathan Winters. I guess that's the one reason why I don't watch the movie anymore, and that's because of henpecking. I hate henpecking, and when Winters stands up for himself she sicks her muscle-bound son named Sonny on him, and for about a half hour throughout the movie Sonny is driving like a man possessed, and all this for a million dollars. I have to ask all the characters in the end "Was It Worth It?" I don't feel that it was worth the money spent on the making of this flick, but it's still a classic compared to a couple of watered down films like "Scavenger Hunt", and "Million Dollar Mystery". I just don't get the movie at all, but I guess money isn't really all that it's cracked up to be with me. I know we need it to survive, but I also know the minute we get something like a million dollars we want more, and in the quest to get it they lose it all, and all end up in the hospital. When I was 8 I would've found this to be funny, but now I feel nothing, but pity.』
『Stanley Kramer's sprawling 1963 comedy about a search for buried treasure by at least a dozen people--all played by well-known entertainers of their day--is the kind of mass comedy that Hollywood hasn't made in many years. (Another example from around the same time is Blake Edwards'sThe Great Race.) After a number of strangers (including Milton Berle, Jonathan Winters, Sid Caesar, Phil Silvers, and others) witness a dying stranger (Jimmy Durante) identify the location of hidden money, a conflict-ridden hunt begins, watched over carefully by a suspicious cop (Spencer Tracy). The ensuing two and a half hours of mayhem has its ups and downs--some bits and performers are certainly funnier than others. But Kramer, who is better known for socially conscious, serious cinema (Guess Who's Coming to Dinner?), is in a mood for broad comic characterization, and some of his jokes are so intentionally obvious (Durante literally kicks a bucket when he dies), they'd have a place inAirplane!Watch for lots of cameo appearances, including Jerry Lewis (who had called Kramer and asked him why he hadn't been invited to participate).--Tom Keogh』

It's an awesome movie that will definitely be enjoyed for years (and years) to come. The only reason I didn't give this movie 5 stars is for the length of the movie, as it is 3+ hours long. (Michael Jackson shines in this movie)
『I was pleasantly surprised by this movie but I would have liked to hear more singing from a very young only 19 or 20 year old Michael Jackson in his first real movie! He sings "You Can't Win" and he is totally adorable as the Scarecrow in this movie. The digital remake was a big improvement over previous versions. I also loved the song "Ease on Down The Road" Michael and Diana dance down the yellow brick road singing the song. Michael shines and steals every scene, imo. I was disappointed that he didn't sing more songs solo though. This movie is a must for any MJ fan. Nipsey Russell was really cute in this also. Diana Ross is good but I wanted to hear more singing from Michael and less from Diana. No offense to Diana Ross fans. Totally worth the price.』

『the wiz, starring diana ross, michael jackson (r.i.p.), nipsey russell (r.i.p.), and ted ross (r.i.p.), was an african-american version of l. frank baum's story 'the wonderful wizard of oz,' not a re-make of the 1939 classic. it had it's own energy, and it's own interpretations of scenery, costuming, and the all-important message of going within to find the answers one seeks. this was apparently lost on the audiences of the times, and didn't do well in the box office. it takes a more culturally aware mind and heart to appreciate this gem, which showcases some incredible songs 'ease on down the road,' the luther vandross-penned '(can't you feel a) brand new day,' 'believe in yourself,' and the showstopper, 'home.' although much has been said about ross' age in playing dorothy, keep in mind that this was not a re-make of the original movie, but a re-interpretation of the storybook and the stage play. dorothy was changed into a shy schoolteacher in search of her sense of self, rather than a little girl on a kansas farmstead. ross does brilliantly and delivers a powerhouse singing and dancing performance. jackson is brilliant as ever as the scarecrow, delivering chaplinesque physical comedy, his own beautiful signature tenor, fluid, funky dance moves, and one of the sweetest performances that reflected so much of his actual personality. comedian nipsey russell brings his sharp wit, showmanship, and surprising sensitivity to the tin man, and ted ross reprises his broadway role as the cowardly lion with a stunning performance of 'i'm a mean ole lion,' and shows off his brilliant stage chops with clever lines, growls and snorts included. the incredible talents of richard pryor, lena horne, theresa merritt, and mabel king round out the performance bill and quincy jones provides the bigger-than-life music production. this was a movie to be enjoyed for what it was, a feel-good romp through a modernized emerald city that was not supposed to be compared to judy garland and her companions, but appreciated as a slice of african-american artistry. such a pity that this classic never received the acclaim it so richly deserved.』

『I am a lover of strong, dark and slightly bitter coffee and this rainforest espresso falls in that category. While not my absolute favorite, it is a wonderfully dark and tasteful coffee. And, if it helps the rainforest in the meantime, all the better. Since we bought our Keurig coffee maker, we have explored many different brands and types of coffees and I always gravitate to the strongest. My husband says if I can chisel it out of my cup, it's too weak. Timothy's Rainforest espresso is an excellent strong and dark roast, so enjoy if you dare.』

『Before buying this Norelco 8240XL shaver, I bought the Panasonic ARC IV shaver. The Panasonic shaver was so loud that I was afraid to use it. I thought it might damage my hearing since it would be right next to my ear. Without even using it, I packed it up and returned it to Amazon. I then bought the Norelco 8240XL and it is 75% quieter than the Panasonic. The Norelco gives a close (not super close) shave and it is QUIET. I am happy with the Norelco.』

『I had used Braun for years. Two diferent ones. Current one was a 5000 series Braun and had to replace the foil head almost once a quarter because it would cut a hole in it!! Very expensive and then add in the cleaning fluid for the cleaning system.

After a lot of research I bought the 8240XL. Although I have only had it for a week, I am impressed. It is very quiet, little hard to get use to, because my other shaver was that quiet, it was dead!!! I like the feel of the handle. I like how it hugs the chine and atoms apple. I shave my head and really like how it hugs my head as well. It appears to be really easy to clean with just running under water. Have been using it for over a week and no indication that I need to charge it.

Only complaint and why I didn't give this shaver a full 5 stars is, even with Electric Shave, I feel it could save a little closer, but that is really being picky and as my skin gets use to it more that may improve. But even if it doesn't I am still very happy with it.』

『I bought this shaver to replace a similar, older model. This unit is extremely quiet (a whisper) compared to my other (3-4 year old) model. The heads are also different and are much smoother going over the face. This model also has a "pivot" to the head which makes movement over the face and neck more comfortable. It is also much lighter. My only complaint is that the shave is not as close as my other shaver. I find that I have to press harder and go over the face much more to get that "smooth" look, otherwise, there will still be a slight stubble look to the face. The shave also does not appear to last as long and by the end of the day the face looks a little more ragged than compared to when I shaved with the other model, which tells me it's not cutting as close. It is very easy to clean and looks very modern. The pop out trimmer on this model is also wider than my previous model which makes trimming sideburns much easier. I would give it more stars if it cut better!』

(Really nice unit with excellent codec support)
『So far it's played anything that I've tried including files from my HD Video Camera - I didn't expect this as they are in 2 separate files: video and audio. And the WD TV LIVE figured out how to link them together and play them on its own.

The price dropped from $119 to $99 in the last 2 weeks since I bought mine, so I hope that Amazon will credit me back the difference. I bought 3 in total as they seem very nice X-mas gifts.

So now all I have is an Internet connection and a TV and that's all I need. No cable service at all! Fantastic! Hopefully soon they'll add streaming video from Netflix, etc.

The graphical interface is decent but hardly what I'd call superb. Similarly, the remote is nice but it would be great to have more control to skip ahead X seconds in a video.』

(Wanted to like it, but too many serious issues)
『What a bummer. I was really hoping this product would work after the relatively positive reviews, but it has way too many flaws which became obvious in just a couple hours of use.. I bought this to connect to a second TV. I use a TiVo series 3 for my main TV with PyTivoX on the Mac, a setup that works flawlessly in most cases. The WD TV Live experience is a far cry from my TiVo experience.

Pros:

. Very small, portable if you want it to be.

. Very easy setup.

. Plays MTS files copied directly from an HD camcorder.

Cons:

. Serious audio sync issues with most file types, problems that get worse if you fast forward or rewind while playing a file. This happens with both local storage and when using network shares. These audio sync issues have never happened to me when streaming the same files from PyTiVoX to my TiVo.

. Absolutely will not stream 1080 content reliably over a wireless G network -- buffering on the device does not seem to account for network speed. The first minute or two of a file will play reliably, but then will stutter or freeze.

. Will not play decoded .mpg files from a TiVo. The video will play (although with pixelation&combing), but there is no audio.

. No ability to bookmark or add shortcuts to folder locations on a network share. You have to navigate through the entire path every time. Even for open/anonymous shares, you still have to jump thru a login screen every time. This is just stupid.

. Chapter functions on files created via Handbrake rarely seem to work. The next chapter button often just skips to the next file.

. Remote does not have volume controls or TV on/off control.

. And, finally, no Netflix. I wasn't expecting it, but seems like a no brainer on a $120 (street price) device.


I'm disappointed, and this one is probably going to go back to Amazon.』

Screen saver options? You could go crazy with this, (like Ringtones) Even if you must display only "WD" ADD type pix. Flying Toaster "WD" logo?

Infinite possibilities because of Firmware update capability.

You must know that the "Sheik Geeks" Are going to "HACK THE PLANET! HACK THE PLANET!" with this product.... Why not "Open Source" some of it like an "APP" section of the device? (see Google "Chrome" browser/OS )

P.S.
Pressing "FF" then "NEXT" Felt a little weird to go forward by chapter in the ISO files "REV" then "PREV" worked also.

『I'm rarely this enthusiastic about a product. There are definitely downsides, but nothing significant enough for me to really feel there are major flaws. I owned (and still own, actually) the regular TV and loved it, but really disliked the lack of networking support. I went to a trade show and Western Digital was there. I mentioned this to their representatives and he told me they were releasing a version with networking support in a couple of weeks. I had to pick one up as soon as possible.

What I expected was the original with the ability to access network shares via SMB, but I also expected the UI to still be a little slow and difficult when setting up the network. I was very surprised at how simple it was to set things up. I decided to go the WiFi route rather than Ethernet and it really just involved finding a compatible WiFi adapter on WD's compatibility list (I picked a Belkin because it had a stand) and plugging it in. It found my router right away, I entered the password and I was connected very quickly. I had absolutely no issues streaming anything over the WiFi, which was very surprising. I figured huge 1080p MKV files would be an issue, but they played incredibly well. The UI was extremely quick and responsive. Previews even worked quickly over the WiFi. Connecting to shares on my computer was absolutely no problem. I am just in awe of how well it works. After using an AppleTV, which in theory should work better because it's so limited in its network functionality, I just figured there would be problems. Western Digital really got it right. Plus there's YouTube support and it works really well, too.

The downsides are few but they do get kind of annoying here and there. The main issue that bothers me the most is that when I add something to a folder on a network share, it doesn't update on the WD TV Live. This is understandable to and extent, but there ought to be a reload button or function of some kind to work around this. Currently the only way to reload the folder is to click home and reconnect. It's not a huge deal, but it would be really great if it wasn't necessary. Other annoyances fall under a lack of options, mainly. For example, thought preview mode work exceptionally well (where you have a list of videos and it shows a little window that previews the selected video) you're required to have sound along with the preview. That's useful if you're not sure what the video is, but if you already know and you're leaving the television on for a few minutes before watching (like you get a phone call, for example) then you have sound playing constantly. There are obviously two work-arounds: mute the TV or select a folder or photo rather than a video file. Nonetheless, it would be nice to have the option to simply turn off sound and only have a visual preview mode. In terms of setup options there aren't many. You don't have as much control over the WD TV Live as you do with the regular WD TV. This is unfortunate in some ways, because options are always nice, but in others it makes the setup really simple. I'd feel very comfortable recommending the WD TV Live to a novice more so than the WD TV because it's much more simple to setup. The thing is, this sort of device probably doesn't appeal too much to a person who doesn't know much about media files because it doesn't provide any means of content acquisition (like the AppleTV does with the iTunes store). It assumes the user has content already, which means they're either generating it themselves or acquiring it on the Internet without the assistance of the WD TV Live. Neither of those things are necessarily simple (in the same way the WD TV Live is) and so I think it makes more sense to add a little complexity through additional features and settings rather than remove them for the sake of simplicity.

Overall, however, there's very little to complain about. Though I don't use this for photos and music and can't really comment on how well those aspects of the WD TV Live work, I'm extremely pleased with nearly all aspects of video performance and would gladly recommend it to others.』

(Problem with AVCHD and Fast Forward)
『I have been using WD TV Live for a week now. I also updated the firmware to Release 1.01.11 (11/16/09). There are three main problems:

1) I have personal home videos shot in HD (AVCHD) using Sony HDR-TG1 camcorder. I want to copy all the AVCHD files in a portable hard drive and play them through WD TV Live. It plays the files but there is a gap of 2 seconds where my TV screen goes blank. The reason why it is happening is each shot is saved in a MTS file within AVCHD folder by HD camcorder (that's the way it supposed to be). It tries to play each MTS file sequentially and when it moves from one file to another, it creates a pause of 2 seconds when your screen goes blank. It supposed to play all MTS files within AVCHD sequentially without any gap. The gap is very annoying because it does not treat AVCHD as one movie but a sequence of movies. So, unless you combine all MTS files into one huge one file, then it should work, but for me this is a bug and it is the biggest turn down for using WD TV Live for AVCHD. To put it in perspective, imagine you ripped your DVD video on an external hard drive and it has multiple VOB files. When you play the movie, WD TV Live plays all the VOB files fine without any gap. Why can't it treat AVCHD movie the same way?

2) Sometimes when you want to jump to next chapter while watching DVD format movies from your hard drive, it jumps to the beginning of the movie. I do not fudge with how DVD videos are extracted and copied into hard drive. I simply copy the entire movie files from DVD movie and it still does that.

3) Occasionally, it also freezes when you try to fast forward. You have to power down WD TV Live and restart it.

Overall, I do not recommend this product until WD fixes all the issues especially gaps in AVCHD one.』

『The router is basically working fine with my Thinkpad X60 (running XP) and fit PC2 (running Ubuntu).

The reason that I am going to give this product an 2 star review is that the tech support wasn't able to help me install the router and tried their best to take over my computer and charge me additional fee (I refused).

I tried to followed the instruction to install the router. Since there is a sticker on the ports of the router saying that you have to install the software first, I installed the software without connecting the router. It stuck at checking connection page and saying there's some problem with wireless adapter. After tried several things out and not able to get it working, I decided to call Sisco's "Award Winning Tech Support".

The first thing made me uncomfortable is they ask your name(full name), phone number and e-mail. I was not cautious enough so I give out my phone number but not e-mail address. They won't inform you providing those information are optional until you decide not to tell. I wonder those personal information has anything to do with installing the router.

Than the tech support kept asking me to spend around 9 dollar to have someone take over my computer and take a look at it. She kept saying that is the best way to resolve my problem.

I have been using "Log me in" to access my office computer at home and I know what it's like to have some one remote access your computer. They can do whatever they want, including lock up your screen, keyboard and mouse. Therefore I turned down her offer and ask if she able to advice via phone. She still insist on the "remote plan". I told her I rather try to install again by myself and end up the conversation.

After I tried to connect the router to the network while installing the software, everything works out fine. I am glad I didn't pay 9 dollar for doing this.

Thank you award winning tech support for wasting me 20 minutes!

Make sure memory is all the way in, press down and the tabs will lock into place. Turn on NC10, press F2 to make sure the computer recognizes the 2gb memory and save...and you're done! The whole process took less than 2 minutes. There is a noticeable improvement when moving between and using applications. Cheap and effective. It doesn't get any better (and easier!!!) than that. get it already :)』

Took out the battery, grounded myself (important!), unscrewed the memory cover, popped out the old memory, stuck in the new and was done in about two minutes. Computer recognized the memory right away and my computer has been running like a charm. The only warning I would have about installation-and it has to do with the computer and not the memory card-be careful when unscrewing the memory cover so that you don't strip the tiny screw heads.     (Open BDP360 tray with BDP300 remote)
    『Any update of this excellent BDP will surely now include the OPEN/CLOSE tray button on the remote.

    I agree that it is an irritation to stand by the BDP to wait for the tray to open, and a few seconds can be saved by pressing the button to open the tray while getting the next BD ready.

    I have BDP300 remote controls. BDP300 was the first commercially affordable BDP which came out over a year ago, and is already pretty much obsolete because of the 90 second boot time.

    Remote controls are expensive items, and if one can swop the remotes between the old BDP 300 and the new BDP 360, we can get the more solid BDP 300 remote to open AND close the BDP 360 tray! They are mutually compatible and INTERCHANGEABLE. The BDP 360 remote can be relegated to the BDP 300: the Open button is relatively redundant with the BDP300. After pressing the start or tray OPEN button on the old BDP 300, I still have 90 seconds to go to the toilet and come back, or have a Coke zero, or rummage through the BD collection.

    This is a plug and play BDP. There is the BDP560 if you want extra features. Some BDs which will not play on the old BDP300 work on BDP360, like The Ninth Gate (Johnny Depp), The Best of Soundstage.

    The sold-in-USA BDP360 will not play Region 3 dvds. Tried and failed.

    The BDP360s sold elsewhere (i.e. not from Amazon and delivered within the USA) are multi-coded for DVDs from all regions, and we pay a hefty premium for international versions of BDP360 which plays and upscales ALL dvds from ALL regions. The USA version of BDP360 cannot therefore replace the multi-region dvd player you might happen to have.

    There is no need to retire the old BDP300. Smaller TVs can still benefit from the old BDP300, which is thunky enough to support a small LCD TV on top (although not recommended without some adaptation). The small size of the BDP360 placed in front of the TV table-top means one can still see the sub-titles from some viewing angles, like lying on the sofa. The BDP300 can be salvaged for another room, or when placing it at an angle to the BDP360 with another TV (to avoid triggering off two BDPs at once).

    That is my solution to the lack of the OPEN/CLOSE button issue. Use the old remote.

    (A great, basic Blu-Ray player)
    『There are lots of new Blu-Ray players coming out with advanced features like network streaming of videos. But I've already got an Xbox360 hooked up to my home theater, and several PCs available as well, and all of them can handle any video streaming needs I may have. All I really needed was a Blu-Ray player that would do a really nice job playing Blu-Ray discs and my old DVDs. Thanks to the new players, the price on this one has really dropped, so I pounced.

    I had one small glitch hooking it up. My HDTV is an older Sony 34" CRT that handles 480i, 480p, 720p, and 1080i, but not 1080p. I hooked the Blu-Ray player up through my Onkyo receiver using an HDMI cable, which then handles the connection to the TV. When I told the BDP-S360 to use the HDMI connection, all I got was a black screen. I ended up having to use the composite video cables that come with the player to get a picture, and then told the player to use 720p output. Everything then worked fine. So something in the handshake between the TV, receiver, and player thought 1080p was supported, but once forced to 720p everything was fine.

    Disc loading times aren't bad, taking about the same time as booting up my Xbox360 or turning on my 400-disc DVD changer, so I really didn't notice them. The picture, even at only 720p, is FANTASTIC, showing details I just never noticed before and really enhancing the picture. An example here is that with Tinker Bell and the Lost Treasure (yes, most of my viewing is for the kids), the pixie dust effects on the DVD have a lot more "glow" to them, while on the Blu-Ray they are individual sparks that don't cover the background as much. The detail improvement is really impressive.

    Updating the firmware was pretty trivial. With the Xbox360 and a Wii I already have ethernet running to the entertainment center along with a hub, so I just hooked up another cable and it downloaded and upgraded easily.

    So far I'm very happy. If you really want video streaming you may need to look elsewhere, or if you need a WiFi network connection, but since I did not need either this was a perfect fit at a very good price.』

    『I bought this player after my upconverting dvd player's remote quit working, which gave me a good excuse to upgrade. For the price this player can't be beat. The picture quality is awesome, the upconverting looks good, and the sound is great too. The menus, setup, and features are very user friendly. The start up times are good, and I don't notice the long wait time some have mentioned. It does lack certain features which would be nice, such as the Netflix streaming capability. Although I have a Netflix account, I would have to set it up through wi-fi (not available with this player), and I don't think I would use it that frequently for it to be an issue.

    My main concern in choosing a blu ray player was it's compatibility with recordable dvd's (dvd+r or dvd-r). I have alot of home movies on standard recordable discs and wanted to make sure that I would be able to view them on the player. This player does play my standard recorded dvd's without any problems. The issue involving the player not continuing the movie if you press stop as opposed to pause must be a disc issue. I stopped a few movies, even turned off the player, and the movie started from where it stopped. Also, the remote not having an eject button, I still need to get up to remove the disc so this isn't an issue for me.

    If you want a player with great picture quality and has basic features for a great price, then I don't think you can go wrong with this player.』

    『I am a dad with 2 kids. Two years ago I made the decision to switch to rechargeable batteries, because of the large number of AA batteries we were plowing through...

    At the time, I read all the articles, and agonized over "which batteries, which charger, etc..".

    This is just my follow up to say that I have been using the Eneloop batteries for the last 2 years (along with a MAHA MH-C401FS charger). They have been exactly what I needed. They hold a charge great, quick to recharge, and no hassles.

    Most importantly, they just do what you need a rechargeable battery to do- WORK.

    I pop these in my kid's camera, and they last for 2 months or more. If you have ever seen a kid play with a digital camera, you know that's impressive.

    Anyway, I'm not an engineer, but I just wanted to throw out my own experience, and say that, yes, these do the trick.

    Regarding the charger, the only down side that I have noticed is that the batteries can get warm when charging. However, I always charge on Fast mode, so I'm not exactly surprised.

    『I'm not an expert or battery afficionado like NLee the Engineer (whose reviews on batteries and charging accessories have been surprisingly useful to me!), but even the layperson can appreciate Sanyo Eneloop batteries. In short -- great purchase for use with slow-drain devices. Details below:

    I've used the Energizer NiMH rechargeables for several years now -- in my Xbox controllers, remote control, mouse, keyboard, some flashlights... and so on.

    I noticed that in some devices they were great, but that in low-drain ones like my remote control or mouse I was recharging way too frequently -- once every month or two. Some research revealed that typical NiMH batteries have great capacity, but lose a lot of their charge after they sit around for a while (1-3 months will kill a lot of the charge in the battery, even if it's not being used).

    This wouldn't be too much of a problem except for the fact that NiMH cells only have a native voltage of 1.2v -- already low for some devices. Combine the lower voltage with charge that dips over time and you have a shorter than reasonable lifespan.

    Enter eneloop batteries!

    I started off with I think 8 AA cells and have now expanded to 16 AA and 8 AAA eneloop cells. I use them in my mouse, remote control, keyboard, and Xbox 360 controllers. They're great and last just as long as normal alkaline cells! Definitely a worthy purchase for those frustrated by frequently switching out their normal NiMH cells in low-drain devices. Now, I use my normal NiMH cells in high-drain devices like flashlights and let me eneloops do the long-life work in my low-drain devices.』

    『I've been using Eneloop batteries for about a year now and am really happy with them.

    I initially bought them to use in camera flashes (Canon Speedlite 580 EXII). I wanted something rechargeable because I'd be going through a lot of batteries and I wanted something that held its charge a long time because there might be long periods of time before I use a flash. They have performed as advertised. They are long lasting and hold their charge a long time while waiting in my camera bag.

    『Inheriting the "Corelle lasts forever" mentality from my parents, I purchased two sets of these when I moved out on my own. Two years later, no a single complaint. I never used the tumblers that came with the set b/c I love the feel and quality of Libby glassware. These are definitely dishwasher safe and even if you leave food stuck on them for days, you can still chip it off with a butter knife and not harm the dish.

    All I can say that Corelle really does last forever!』

    『Corelle as usual is a perfect every day dish choice, especially for klutzy families like mine. They don't overheat and burn your fingers in the microwave, and take up little space in the cupboard or dishwasher. The dishes are terrific, but...

    This is surprising, since in my experience Amazon has a tendency to err on the side of caution when it comes to packing, but this time the inner Corelle box was wide open and the contents fallen out into the big Amazon box. Corelle being the durable dish that it is, there was no damage there, but one of the glasses was broken. Since they are pretty flimsy to start with and aren't likely to last long in my house anyway, I don't suppose it matters, but it's still rather irritating that I can't just get Amazon to send a replacement glass instead of having to pack it all back up and cart it off to the post office for a return. Naturally it's not worth the trouble for one glass and I'm not going to bother. You have to wonder why they don't just limit the set to the Corelle portion and stop throwing in useless cups or glasses that most of us didn't want in the first place.

    The other bummer is that the set I paid $38.65 for last week is now $29.99, but I guess that's just a normal shopping hazard.』

    『I was thrilled beyond get-out when I got my first Flair. It IS a good vacuum for bare floors of any kind and at first, it works even on small area&throw rugs. I dont mind cleaning out the cup and hubby blows out the filter with the air compressor hose in the garage. It DOES fall over easily and the cord isnt long.

    However, on each of my Flairs, although I have only used it for area rugs (I have a regular vacuum for the few carpeted rooms I have) the belts blow out for the "carpet" setting (beater bar moving setting). The belts were difficult to find and it took FOREVER for them to arrive. Hubby was able to easily replace them but they sure don't last. The bar gets clogged easily with long hairs (my daughter&I both have long hair) and I would often need to cut it out with scissors. I love how it goes quite a ways under cabinets, bookcases, and even my couch!

    However, it has fallen over so many times that the little latch to hold the cup in the vacuum has snapped off&I now have to use packing tape to keep it in. Its time to move on to something with newer technology!』

As I said, these are the original songs by the original artists and the sounds are top notch. Burl Ives was a local son from my hometown area and many of us will remember him as "Sam the Snowman" in "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer" and there are many other wonderful singers on the CD from years past. These remind me of Christmases from when I was growing up, the big family dinners at our house, the aromas of great homecooking, the tree, decorations, the cold and snow outside, the presents and of course the fellowship of family and friends that would "stop by" bearing gifts and wishing us a very Merry Christmas. Those were very happy times for me! So please - buy a copy of this CD - it can make remembering old traditions memorable and also make fabulous new traditions for the youngsters out there!』

    (the return of the subway series, when will New York have another one?)
    『There are not many cities with a major league team un each league. New York has the Yanks and Mets, Chicago Cubs and White Sox and Los Angeles Dodgers and Angels (if you consider Anaheim a part of Los Angeles). Well they are called the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. Since prior to 1958 New York had two National League teams and the American League Yankees the chance for a subway series is much better than for local World Series in LA and Chicago,

    As Lawrance (#2 reviewer) Bernabo mentioned in his review, the first subway series was between the Yankees and Giants in 1921. I grew up in the 1859s when subway series were commonplace. From 1947 to 1957 there were incredibly 7 subway series, 6 for Yankees vs Dodgers (1947, 1949, 1952, 1953, 1955 and 1956) and 1 Yankees vs Giants (1951), The Yanks won 6 of the 7 with 1955 being the only time they lost to Brooklyn.

    But with both the Giants and Dodgers moving to the west coast the subway series was no longer possible until the expansion Mets joined the National League in 1962. The Yanks won pennants in 62, 63, and 64 but the Mets were terrible in those years. In 1969 the Mets won their first National League flag but now the Yanjs wer going through a bad period. So although the Mets got to the World Series in 1969, 1973 and 1986 the Yanjs were not very successful in those years, The Yankees won Anerican League championships in 1962, 1963, 1964, 1976, 1977, 1978, 1981, 1996, 1998 and 1999 but the Mets were not able to win the National League title in those years. So this 2000 World Series was the first subway series since 1956.

    This one was filled with excitement and drama. Clemens tossing the handle of Piazza's bat being the most memorable. There was good pitching and they were great teams. It was a series to remember. When willthere be another?』

    『First of all I want to say that I am a HUGE baseball fan, but I am not very fond of the Yankees. When I first started following baseball, at age 9, I thought I might like them. But as time passed I started to see what rich, snobby sell-outs they were, and how bad they are for baseball.

    Yankee fans and ONLY Yankee fans think the 'Yankees rock' or whatever retarted things like that. This World Series was an insult to baseball, and if I remember, the ratings weren't all that good. Because not only was everyone sick of the Yankees by now, but they knew what was going to happen.

    A agree with one reviewer who said the only great thing about this World Series was watching Roger Clemens throw Mike Piazza's bat back at him. But only because it portrayed Clemens as the stuck-up loser that he is.

    Do NOT buy this video unless you are a Yankees fan. No, do NOT buy it if you are a Mets fan. Some Yankee fans have said it's good for both Yanks and Mets rooters. Easy for them to say - they won the darn series!
    Not only that, but announcers always favor the Yankees in their comments, so if you do get it you might want to turn the volume down. But I hope that you WON'T get it.』
