(Beautifully written and translated)
(Lovely book tho DMP coulda done betta)
(Lovely!)
(An Absolute Must-Have!!!) I love these books. I really like the normalness of this novel I guess. It's not some fantastical story with demons have sex with pretty boys. It's an as true to life story as you'll get. I can;t say anything on the poor translation quality. My mind overcompensates and fixes most typos and syntax erors automatically. Ona few occasions I had to stop but if you're like me you shouldn't have any trouble. I fell in love with Only the Ring Finger Knows with it's initial manga release. It was a beautiful story not only about young love, but a love that developed and grew stronger and more passionate as time went, despite the fact that it seemed a forbidden desire. Only the Ring Finger knows separates itself from the typical BL manga in that the couple is forced to struggle with being accepted by society, as most gay couples ultimately have to. Wataru and Yuichi's relationship is also more drawn out and heartfelt in the novel, and the brand new pretty illustrations scattered throughout are definitely a treat. While the translations were awkward at points and by no means perfect, the overall effect of the manga still transferred to the novel, and you truly feel the pain of Wataru's broken heart, and then relief when they finally do end get together and overcome everything. It's a lovely read and definitely worth buying, especially if you're a fan of the manga. (And if you haven't read it, this is a good start too) As DMP's first Novel translated because of its popularness as a Manga I would have expected DMP to take a little more time to make this Novel perfect. There are a couple of mistakes and whatnot and confusing areas (due to lazy translation) but overall it's a beautifully written story (mainly contains everything in the Manga of the same title) and the images are gorgeous.
It's a light BL Novel atm, doubt it'll reach a Yaoi Label. And goes for 4 volumes.
But this is a deffient buy for anyone who is looking for a Novel to add to their Yaoi/BL collection. I guess most of us pick up this novel because we enjoy the manga version. I like the manga but I love the novel more. This novelist's expression of the boys' budding love is simply beautiful. Thankfully the translation did not let us down even though more editing would have been appreciated. I could not help regretting not knowing Japanese (sigh!). Vol 1 has 2 stories. The manga is based on the first story but even the pleasing graphics and faithful adaptation could not beat the expressive words depicting the angst and romance in the novel. And of course there is the second story which is even more emotional and the last part when our 2 boys finally consume their love is touching and warmly romantic and described with a fluid grace. This second story was never published in any manga form. For the price, the novel is definitely worth its weight in gold considering I have no qualm about spending close to $10 bucks for the manga. Glad there are 2 more volumes to go in this beautiful series. After reading "Don't worry Mama" and this, I am hungry for more translated Japanese BL/Yaoi novels.
I absolutely love this novel! The story itself is great to begin with; not that the manga didn't do a wonderful job bringing the characters to life, but it didn't continue the second part of the novel which was about Wataru and Yuichi's time together as a couple.
The first half of the novel titled "Only the ring finger knows" is similar to the manga, so i won't elaborate more about this part. The second part titled "The lonely ring finger" is what you should look forward to (i know i did!).
"The lonely ring finger" is a continuation of Wataru and Yuichi's relationship after they became a couple; how they try to spend time together without revealing themselves to their peers in school, a bet that is out-of this-world, etc, etc; in my opinion, this second part tells more about their "human" side and their struggles to stay together (like how any other normal couples would) despite all the mishaps and lies.
Other than a few typo errors here and there, i find this novel a joy to read and have; it's a must-have for you yaoi fans out there! I can't wait for the second novel to be released in July!!!!
It's the ultimate expression of love to wear matching rings with your significant other, showing the world that you are a couple. High school student, Wataru Fujii, also wears one even though he is single. When he accidentally switches rings with a popular and handsome senior, Yuichi Kazuki, they discover that their rings pair up! Since that moment, Kazuki - who is known for being kind to all - becomes strangely harsh to Wataru. They alternate between hot and cold, as in between clashes they begin to sort their feelings for one another. Are Wataru and Kazuki the worst of enemies or are they actually soulmates? (Yet another quality volume of Love Mode)
(A gem of a volume! This series is truly captivating!) Number six is as far as I've gotten so far, but I'm working my way up there. I love Love Mode. It is a fantastic series, and this one is one of my favorites because of the short story, "fly me to heaven." This story really touched me. I love seeing the next level of Reiji and Naoya's relationship too. It was very well done and I can't wait to read the rest of Love Mode! I never tire of Yuki Shimizu's Love Mode. This volume concentrates on Aoe Kiichi's love for Naoya! And, of course, it also addresses Aoe Reiji's love for Naoya and vice versa. One true joy of this volume is the insert story, Fly Me to the Heaven. I like the way Yuki Shimizu leaves the ending open to interpretation. Love Mode lovers will not be disappointed. Love, sex, angst, passion, excitement, intrigue, comical, heart-wrenching , this volume has it all. Reiji's and Naoya's story continues in this excellent volume. Their romance hits a snag and Kiichi is of course there to help and this does provide some hilarious moments. Kiichi's character is well explored here and you just have to love this ever proactive good doctor. We are given glimpses of his romance with his stoic housekeeper and introduced to a mysterious character from Kiichi's past, which I hope means more on Kiichi in future volumes. The waiting is of course over as Reiji and Naoya passionately consummate their love. I love the events leading to it and just have to chuckle at the incident with the sofa.
Their story certainly leaves me one happy and satisfied reader until I come to the separate story involving Seiichi (one of Reiji's sexy male escorts at B&B) and his young client, Tomoki. This story is hauntingly compelling and deeply emotional. It leaves me virtually in tears as it is just so poignant and heart breakingly sad. The mangaka does leave us with a note that we could interprete the ending as we like. But her few final impactful panels in this beautiful, moving and heart-rending love story leave no room in my mind to think otherwise.
Fortunately I am somewhat cheered up by the last 2 bonus stories on our lovers. The first one on my favorite couple, Reiji and Naoya, is sexy and sweet while the second one on Kiichi and his housekeeper is one big teaser!
This mangaka is truly talented in emotions and characters development and Love Mode is one spellbinding series. And now to start from Vol 2 again... A single moment can change one's life forever... While Kiichi is being the usual "big brother" figure to Naoya, taking him out for new clothes and splurging on a watch, the jewelry store in which they’re shopping is robbed! As the criminals take our two men hostage, Naoya starts to ponder his superficial and fickle existence while looking down the barrel of a gun. When Reiji gets wind of the hostage situation, he wonders if he will ever see Naoya again! Rerations < LOVE MODE Volume 6: (Yaoi) (v. 6) >

(A fitting end to an interesting series...)
(Shiuko Kano's boys are pure delight!)
(erotic license) i love yaoi... but i wouldnt recommend this series. this series was very weird... dad falling in love with sons friend and all that...and i happen to have a sick feeling after reading this series... no offense. over all the manga was funny, and i loved the drawing, i just didnt like the plot line of the story.
Kiss All The Boys Volume 3 - Manga - Shiuko Kano
Volume 3 is the final volume in the Kiss All The Boys series and brings this story to an interesting conclusion. So by now we know all the craziness of this plot. We have poor virgin Tamaki whose best friend, Haruka AND Haruka's father Tetsuo are lusting after him. Then there are our losers in love, Michiro and Momoyama who are both lusting after Tetsuo (who is lusting after Tamaki) and last but not least is Kippei who is lusting after Haruka (who is lusting after Tamaki). Got it? *sigh* So exhausting this plot. Oh, and Haruka and Tamaki are both only 15-years-old while the rest are in their 30's. Shota anyone?
So, that all being said, volume 2 ended with Tetsuo being kissed by Tamaki and realizing that his little soldier is standing at attention (keep in mind he's been battling impotency for 2 years) In this final volume, Tetsuo has to come to terms with his true feelings for Tamaki and what this means for all those affected by this, specifically his son who also loves Tamaki, his best friend who professed his love for him, and his next door neighbor Momoyama who he has used and abused throughout volumes one and two. To add to the pressure, Haruka's mother Izumi has come back to town stating she wants to bring Haruka back to Paris with her. Will Tetsuo finally face how he really feels about his son or will he steal his love interest and send him packing? You may be surprised by his final decision.
This has been an odd duck through all three volumes so I think the ending is fitting to the story. The humor in volume three did not disappoint (the reference to "Heidi" had me in stitches as did a lot of other great one liners). I'm not sure I agree with Tetsuo's reasoning for why he's into Tamaki and there are a few things Tamaki says in this volume that sort of creep me out (i.e. Am I an adult now?). The sex doesn't disappoint (two masturbations scenes, one alone and one with a partner, and one full sex scene). The speech bubbles still presented some issues but not as bad as volume two and the illustrations and character design were as good as the past volumes. All this being considered, if you're already this far into the series it is definitely worth getting the last volume.
Character Design = A- Plot = A- Book Design/Illustrations = A- Sexual Content = B+ Translation = A-
Overall grade = A-
The problem with series is you have to wait in between but I was willling to wait this one out since Deux is pretty fast. I am gald I did. I have a really wonderful time finishing this 3 volumes in the same day.
The story flows seamlessly, the faced paced plot light hearted with angsy moments and all the characters very likable and delightful. The story revolves around one het-erotic manga artist, Tetsuo, suffering from impotency. Imagine his total confusion when he can "get-it-up" again with the same sex. Not helping is his estrangled and self acknowledged gay son Haruka who has a very low opinion of his father. In the beginning Tetsuo is not a very likable character as he seems irresponsible and takes advantage of those around him notably one very kind hearted neighbour and his ex-brother-in-law. But my opinion soon changes as the story progresses. 6 guys here as they struggle with unrequited love. Of course they all pair up by the end and the path to get there is wonderfully written and filled with so much fun and some angsy moments. Maybe it is not the pairing I would have preferred but on the other hand maybe it is :) And I enjoy the explosive father-son relationship between Tetsuo and Haruka.
Who are my favorite characters ? I have to say it is the "so cool" uncle Michiro, the effervescent Haruka and the kind-hearted Momoyama.
Love Shiuko Kano's boys and her artwork is a pure delight and so is the sex! "What do you think of underage boys?" Do recent developments in his life have Tetsuo considering giving up straight hentai work for shota? His assistant's response to Tetsuo's query is not encouraging. Some readers of Kiss All the Boys' final installment may feel the same way, given Tama's and Haruka's pairings with much older men...Myself, I have no problem with the consensual relationships and happy endings depicted therein (good for you, Michiro - Tetsuo didn't deserve you anyway!). A short second story, "Summer Accomplices" appears to be an early work with less style and substance, despite the revelation of an even more disturbing relationship. All in all, however, my esteem for the products of Ms. Kano's deliciously filthy imagination keeps growing and I eagerly await more licensed licentiousness! One crazy climax!
After having sex with Momoyama, Tetsuo has pretty much come face-to-face with the fact that straight sex just doesn't do it for him anymore. To make matters worse, as soon as he realizes this, he is besieged by constant wet dreams involving the boy that his gay son Haruka has a major crush on. What is Tetsuo to do?! How is he to confront Haruka (who loves the star of his wet dreams), his best friend Enomoto (who declared his love for Tetsuo), and Momoyama (his lovestruck sex partner)?! Find out in this passionate conclusion!
