I just love all those vivid facial expressions. Azuma and Mizuki continue their delightful romp in Vol 2. Told from Mizuki's viewpoint, their stories are entertaining, playful, with lots of sex of course. Akira and Izumi join in with their own story which reminds me of Ougi's "Brother" but a ligher and cuter version. The plot is not deep but the boys' lively interaction, delightful antics and the lovely and extremely cute artwork makes this series very enjoyable. The volume ends with the 2 couples' delightful double date, where we are also introduced to Azuma's siblings. Gifted with intelligence and looks, student council president Azuma confessed his love to Mizuki, and with a little push, they "successfully" started dating. The entire school has even officially recognized their relationship. So you would expect things to be progressing smoothly... This is the second installment of the super popular series about Mizuki, with his gradually changing feelings, and Azuma, who is somehow confident he can make Mizuki drunk on life and his love. Outstanding!) (Not just creepy, but just plain pedophilic) (Lots of depth...) (It's okay) Two of Hearts centres around Haruya, a writer, who meets Maki, a troubled younger guy. The story is basically about the relationship that develops between them and how they end up helping each other. Overall, I really recommend this manga- it's just a really sweet, moving read! The characters and plot are both very well developed and the story is engaging throughout. The manga isn't really that explicit but there are a number of hot scenes. If you haven't read Kano Miyamoto's work before, I can't recommend it enough! She is without a doubt one my favourite yaoi mangakas. Her work is really edgy and her stories just instantly draw you in. They also have a lot of depth and somehow feel very realistic. As far as I'm concerned her work is amazing. If you're looking for a cute, moving read, you can't go wrong with Two of Hearts! This is yet another masterpiece by Kano Miyamoto, and actually - together with "Say Please" - it's one of my favorites by this mangaka. As always in Kano's stories, there's a lot of character depth and development in this story. Unlike some of other Kano's works, this one has a heartwarming happy ending (though characters have to go through a lot to get there). Sex scenes are beautifully and tastefully drawn. I highly recommend it to most yaoi fans and all fans of Kano Miyamoto's work. Note to those readers who avoid yaoi with "rape" content etc.: there's a rape attempt in this book, but it's viewed very negatively, and it's NOT coming from the seme. On a related note, a uke (Maki) looks like he's of age of consent to me (about 18 years old or so). I've noticed there are some strongly negative reviews on this manga. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but I suspect that in a vast majority of cases, only readers who are VERY new to yaoi genre (and maybe manga drawings overall) will find this manga in any way disturbing. Although the "nice" man, Haruya, who is in his late twenties, early thirties had never had a sexual relationship with a young person before meeting Maki, what he committed was child abuse. (And let's not forget the writer's boyfriend who in a fit of anger sexually attacks Maki--let's call it for what it was--attempted rape of a minor!) Maki is a senior in high school. In one review it says he is 17. He had smooth skin which to me identified him as someone who had not started shaving yet and a late bloomer or was younger than eighteen and still a late bloomer. This book is basically pedophillia. Haruya gains Maki's trust and seduces him. Period. He cares more about his own sexual appetites and desires than the brokeness of the young guy he befriends. He takes advantage of Maki who is an emotionally wounded, confused youg guy who most likely was sexually abused by someone when he was younger. His costant feeling of being dirty goes beyond OCD, sorry. He was in need of HELP not a sexual experience with a "nice" man ten+ years his senior. I would not recommend this book to anyone. The message it sends is disturbing: If you are a young, confused, broken individual, sex with a "nice", "trusted" older person is healing and is love. I LOVED this title. Beautiful story with great character development. I really liked how the relationship builds between the much older Haruya and the young damaged Maki. Highly recomended! I purchased this book based off the other review on this page. I can't tell you how disappointed I was. The other review makes it sound so sweet, a natural progression of love and love conquers all including OCD (obsessive compulsive disorder). This is just not the case. This book is just passable as a love story. The art isn't bad but all the drama really retracts from the relationship. The guy with glasses is a struggling writer suffering from writer's block. The younger kid suffered trama which forces him to feel "dirty." Maybe I should look up the definition but I personally don't define that as OCD, especially when he's cured with in a few weeks of "going out" with his new lover. And if you count the poor guy the author uses as fodder to quicken the couple's progression, it's a flimsy soap opera plot in yaoi shoes. Once again, this is not that bad of a story and the art is fine just don't expect anything. Friends... With Benefits Haruya, a frustrated writer for a magazine, is constantly puzzling his editors with his lack of motivation. His quiet, solitary life is spent in a house away from the city. However his outlook changes drastically when he sees a shy, troubled young man undressing on the beach. Their lives become intertwined in unforeseen ways. A passionate and unusual relationship develops that will ultimately be beneficial for the both of them. (Great story and Fall down funny) (Something different. Amusing, refreshing, whacky!) (Finally, a Kirishima work available in English!) Mutsuki is the young president of a family business; he is a good president, but his late father wanted him to be an evil president, and Mutsuki had sworn on his father death bed to maintain the promise. But now, ten years later, he is still a good boy, and every time he tries to do an evil deed, he chickens out. More, he also suddenly faints. One of this time he is rescued by Torii, a younger man, but with more confidence than Mutsuki. And when Mutsuki tries to seducing Torii to do an evil deed, he ends up seduced himself. The graphic is interesting, pretty original and different from others I read. The male characters are decipt in good detail, even if Torii is a bit to like Mutsuki's brother, sometime I confuse the two. Actually the graphic is the main interest in this manga, since the story is pretty clear and not very much more than what I wrote. There is a sub story that is also quite interesting, among Mutsuki's brother and the chauffeur, but I think it would deserve a bit more of space. In the end then, the author lets us see some more details on Mutsuki's lawyer. All in all I'm happy to read this, the love story is sweet and romantic. I have to say that the previous review hits all the right marks, my only "but" in this story is that the brother and love interest sometimes looked the same. And the chest muscles were hilarious... literally: " (___) (___) "!!! The plot is not that interesting or original, it contains the usual plot twists and turns: kidnappings, jealous siblings, etc., but the characters are endearingly funny. The chibis are just too cute, and the "President's" attempts at committing evil deeds are just hilarious! This is something to read when you feel like laughing, and it is a nice add to my BL collection. I will now look out for other works by this author. By the same author: Ruff Love My over all impression was this was hilarious. The fact that the premise of the story was "To be the evil president" maybe behind it. Be ready to fall down laughing at some point. The art was great (though chests look odd to me). There was good interaction between the characters with more than one couple in the story. There were several graphic with somewhat explicit scenes. Also be sure to look under the dust cover and the end dust cover book flap. :) This one reminds me of Waru, not the plot but the tone. Fast paced, amusing with laugh out loud moments, certain scenes outrageous, this Yaoi is one very enjoyable read. I like both the "goody-goody" President, Mutsuki, and the caring Torri. They are very compatible, their romance sweet. The various supporting characters are equally refreshing, Mutsuki's sadistic brother, Matsuki's love struck chauffeur, Torri's 2 crazy brothers, the cool mysterious lawyer, all spicing up the delightful, hilarious and whacky plot. The sex is tastefully drawn, with well defined muscular bodies, which I appreciate. I love this mangaka's artwork, which is most distinct and lively. I will certainly look up more from this mangaka with her own very distinct and unique story telling and artwork style. I have been a fan of Tamaki Kirishima for a while now. Most of her work, and I wish there was more, has not yet been licensed in English. It's worth seeking out through fan scanlation sites. Snap this one up while you can. If, like me, you are a fan of yaoi with salary men, you will not be disappointed. Her artwork is a little different - no flowers or girly ukes here. Plenty of laugh-out-loud moments, though. She moves effortlessly between the erotic and the comic. And speaking of the erotic, the artwork is refreshingly graphic - no blank spaces or Ken-doll bodies in Kirishima's work. The side characters and sub-plots are also engaging and leave you wanting more. My only quibble is with the translation. I was able to read the first two chapters as fan scanlations before this project was licensed, and the fan translations caught more of the subtleties of the original. But if you haven't read the prior translation, you probably won't be bothered by this. As I said, the differences are subtle. In all other respects this is a superior edition - a must-have for any yaoi collection. Mutsuki inherited his father's company eight years ago. He's been doing fine as a CEO, but there's one thing that has always been a shadow lurking over him: he never accomplished his father's last wishes to "go and become the ultimate evil boss!" But Mutsuki is so kind that his daily attempts of training to commit evil deeds are a complete failure. Will he ever succeed, or will his father's last wishes be forgotten? Especially now that Mutsumi has met the beautiful Torii, and that he is falling for him....
