I understand having a fantasy of being taken and being swept up by passion, but the this more about a rapist and stalker preying on an emotionally neglected minor. Not only is the teacher using his authority over a minor to prey on him, but he emotionally manipulates him as well. After professing to "love him", the teacher then sleeps with someone else, a 14 year old girl, no less. And then tries to make the young man feel stupid for being upset about it. The rapist (I refuse to call him lover) also cuts ties with the only other person of authority that the young man can trust. There is no seduction. It's rape! Pure and simple. I hated this and if I could give negative stars, I would. I got half way through this thing and threw it in the garbage. Literally. I have read many Yaoi novels and this one... after the second rape scene and then the uke acting like he might actually like it... just grossed me out and appalled me. Rape is generally *NOT* an enjoyable thing! O_o You start to see signs of traditional rape issues after the first experience the uke has in this book. Then... after the second time he starts to have feelings for him? Give me a break. This is just wrong on so many levels and I'm appalled to have spent MONEY on this. It makes me sick. I'm so glad I didn't read the reviews here before reading the book. Most of the 1 star reviewers didn't like this novel just because the seme had sex with a 14 year-old girl? O.o it was mentioned ONCE and almost at the end, and the author didn't even describe it (thank goodness because I'm not interested in reading hetero sex) and it's not like she was raped, she was all for it. When I finished the novel, I was extremely happy because I thought I've finally found a good yaoi story (not the best but it's good nonetheless). I came to amazon to read other people's opinions. Needless to say, I was utterly shocked at seeing how poorly this wonderful novel was rated. Immoral darkness has the hottest yaoi scenes I've ever read, the only thing I didn't like about it and I admit it left me kind of "WTF just happened?" was the uke's "traumatic" past. *SPOILER* Since the beginning of the story, we are told that he doesn't get a long with his family, in fact, they all ignore him completely. Thus, the uke (I don't remember the names...it's been almost a year since I read it) doesn't know why and develops a kind of a shield against everybody (ie. anti-social) he doesn't have any friends due to his family behavior towards him (until he gets to know his sexy, mad seme). But we're not told the reason behind all this until the end, and when I found out why...I didn't know whether to cry or laugh. I think I was expecting some kind of twist in the story but nope... Geez, who would ignore a son just because they're more popular than the other? now that's lame. Other than that, the story and characters were great. I'm tired of all the sweet yaoi stories, we need more hot, twisted yaoi novels like this one! After reading the other reviews and then reading the book, I wonder what all the fuss is about. This is not the only yaoi novel that has a demented seme. Sagami in "Sleeping with Money", Hodaka in "The Guilty Volume 1" and Munechika in "S Vomume 1" come to mind. There is a lot of sexual harassment going on in all those books I mentioned. Besides, Shiina, the uke in this story is damaged goods himself - he is having sex with a woman more than twice his age for money - because he thinks of her as replacing the mother he can't reach emotionally! I think Immoral Darkness is fast-paced and well-written. Of course Sasagawa is a repulsive person, but that's what the author is trying to tell us. Yaoi fiction can't all be "Only the Ring Finger Knows". This story really makes me wish for a sequel. I want to get more inside the characters' heads - particularly to find out how Sasagawa became the hateful person he is. The title for this novel suits it very well. The story is immoral and dark. This novel contains very mature and dark themes such as rape and emotional manipulation in relationship. Sex (i.e., rape) between the uke and seme is quite explicit. The theme of immature young people being lured into relationship by immoral adults is quite strong and realistically described in this book. It also contains a mentioning of one of the main characters (seme) having sex with a 14-year old girl. (Note: No actual sex with that girl is described and basically no detail on that situation is given, which I obviously think is a must / a good thing.) Also, the seme is (obviously!) quite a bad guy (and the uke allows him to manipulate him and seems to be quite weak-willed most of the time). However, I don't see the author describing the seme in any "positive light" (as one of the previous reviewers wrote): the author is using quite an objective, "matter-of-fact" language. The judgment of the characters is left to the readers. Rather, I suspect, a lot of the US yaoi readers are not prepared to have a seme in the story who's actually *bad*, so they were obviously appalled by this novel (see previous reviews for this book... Most of them are really negative). So, if any of these sounds like not what you want to read, please stay away from this book: it will only disappoint you. Why I like this book? Because it's intense, fast-paced, original and atypical. For one thing, the seme is not a "good" guy that I *must like* just because it's our current yaoi "market standard" to have *good* semes and ukes: I actually really dislike the seme in this story and his immoral behavior. The story is relatively well-written, especially for yaoi novels. Due to mature and realistic content / situations the story describes, it didn't even felt as a yaoi novel at times. I'd probably rate it 3.5 - 4 stars, but in today's thin US yaoi market and given all the bad reviews, I decided to somewhat inflate my rating and give it five stars, as there may be still potential readers who'd enjoy the novel but may get discouraged by overall negative reviews. Beautiful. Cool. Shiina Jun has always been admired by females around him. But he would give up their admiration for just one drop of affection from his family. Or for a chance at true love from anybody who could save him from the dark loneliness that he's lived in for so long. His teacher, Sasagawa Tetsuya, wants to be his savior. But is Sasagawa offering a way out or is he pushing Shiina deeper into the darkness? And can Shiina trust his heart to a man who forces himself on him? This story, masterfully crafted by Miyu Matsuda, of a forbidden, but passionate love between a student and his teacher and the odds they are willing to overcome to get what they ve always wanted in life is definitely a must-read! There must be something about this one if this is not the 2nd or 3rd time I am flipping through the light hearted stories whose characters are loosely connected. The main romance between a florist and a successful CEO is romantic and sweet. The seme here is such a hunk and the uke endearing in his devotion. Their meetings in Cental Park just makes you warm and fuzzy. And the last chapter when "Cinderella" has his happy ending with his prince just puts a smile on my face. The only inconsistency in this story is the revelation that the CEO has a kid which was never mentioned again. The 2nd story on the CEO's secretary and the CEO's best friend is just as enjoyable even if shorter. Such a contrasting couple and you just have to like the younger seme as he takes care of his self absorbed uke writer in their 5 years relationship. A sweet scene here with the kitten and in the shower. The 3rd story centers on the florist assistant's long distance relationship with a Japanese student. Even if the romance is too sudden, I enjoy the misunderstandings and the reconciliation. With a little bit of angst, theirs is a sweet story. The only odd one is the strange attraction between a kid and a teacher. Nothing explicit but the implication is dark. I have always enjoyed this mangaka's style and her artwork and such lovely front and back covers. Diamond leads a pretty typical life in Manhattan - New York's city of love. He is an attractive florist, and has an equally good-looking lover, Locke, who is the influential head of a large Manhattan corporation. Unfortunately, Locke is constantly consumed by his work, but his love for Diamond remains an undying flame. Can this love stand the test of an over-zealous, workaholic boyfriend? (Okay Compilation) Good artwork here with explicit sex. And of course nice packaging from 801 Media. 5 stories here. The first 3 are a good read but the last 2 are somewhat lacking. The King of debt has an engaging and amusing story line. Would be better if this one is longer. Rush about a young aspired boxer being trained by an older gifted ex-boxer, who was forced to retire because of injuries, is a nice one and I like the 2 characters. Here the uke is the older and more demanding one. "My dear my bear" is sweet as one lonely kid abandoned by his sole family member finds solace in the arms of his "bear", who has conveniently changed into one handsome hunk. Not much plot in "Call my name", which also ends somewhat hanging. And I do not like the forceful seme here. VS about male hostesses in a bar where one new rookie strives to upstage the most popular no.1 male hostess has a good set up but somehow falters towards the end. Disappointed that this one is not better developed. The last short bonus where all 5 stories are brought together in a few pages is refreshing. Overall a pretty good read for an anthology, with the nice artwork and sex scenes. I loved the stories especially the extra one at the bar that brought all the stories together. That was really fun. And the art work was great too. King of Debt is a compilation of several stories. The title story, deals with Souta and Taketora (the King). I liked this story but it was over quite fast. I also liked the story titled, "My Dear, My Bear". There were several other stories. All the stories have explicit intimate scenes, which are somewhat graphic. My only complaint is the stories were over too fast and I was not really able to get into them before they were over. If you like short stories that shall we say, get too the point, then get this manga. If you're looking for something to get invested in then steer clear. Souta's friend, Taketora, is chronically bad at managing his finances. Ever since the two met in college, Taketora has never ceased to borrow money from Souta. Worse yet, now Taketora is saying that rather than returning the money, he'll repay Souta... with his body?!
