I LOVE THIS BOOK! the awsome romantic love scenes ^_^ cute couples very graphic sexual activities^_^ i especially loved the Taiga and Yuri pairing ^_^ so cute they are! i say this to any yaoi lover...YOU WILL LOVE THIS BOOK! I really like this title. I purchased the first two to check it out. It's sweet and lovey-dovey. There are a lot of names and faces to remember, but don't worry, you'll read it more than once and you'll have no problems. It's a cute title, with graphic love scenes. I think that Akira guy is really hot. hehehehh... I recommend this title to yaoi fans. I liked this manga a lot. Out of the 4 couples I rather liked the 1st one with Mizuki and Azuma. Azuma is confident that he can win Mizuki over and Mizuki is hilarious when he tries to push Azuma away but he still ends up with Amuza in the end. Also the other couples in the story are also really good reads. The artwork is very good and the scenes are explicit. This is a cute Yaoi of school boys falling in love. If you have an issue with boys younger than 18 "doing it" and forced sex, you should skip this. The plotlines are rather thin but the boys' lively interaction makes this Yaoi one enjoyable read. The sex is of course plenty and explicit. This mangaka's artwork is lively, her boys really cute with their mushy, bright and dewy eyed expressions. 4 couples here with 2 of them loosely connected. My favorite couple is the last pair and their story is sweet and cute. Poor Mizuki has the worst luck. Gifted with beauty that rivals most females, he finds himself defending his honor in more ways than one. When he gets molested on board a train for school one day, he starts to think things can't get any worse. That is until he is called into the student council office by the president, Azuma. Turns out the perpetrator of that morning's foray is none other than the student council president himself! Azuma is not one for one night stands and begins his campaign to make Mizuki his own. This is a great manga if your looking for a series where the main characters are a) adorably cute in a i want to tease you till you cry way or b) subtly sexy with a one track mind. Basically this manga will make you laugh and fog up your glasses with its romance. In Love is a Hurricane 3 there are several stories in this volume involving Mizuki and Azuma. One about an aphrodisiac candy, and the second story is about the after effects. The second story maybe a little unsettling but it turned out okay. The forth story is the best, starts off with Mizuki asking Azuma to help him study but turns out they study something of a different kind. Mizuki was so cute. The last part was on a different couple Sou and Kyou. Overall I am pleased to have this in my collection. Since being informed by student council President Asuma that they're going out, Mizuki has somehow managed to be led into the relationship. Despite how often Mizuki voices his adamant protests, before he knows it he always finds himself falling in step with whatever Asuma says. "But is that really such a bad thing?" The long-awaited third volume of the ever-popular high-school love comedy series commences! (Not light reading) (Excruciating) Well like everyone , I am annoyed on how they split up the book into mini novels ( i have all of them ,almost).I guess they want to make money out of this.So I am only doing 1 review because this book was not originally meant to be split up. Writting wise , the author really goes into detail and tangent stuff about the where and the what.Making you see what the author is seeing. I like that.That means the translation is well done.But about the illustrations,its not to par with todays drawings, I am glad the anime animators made it better . I loved the world created in this novel. I must admit that having watched the anime on-line helped me better understand the story. That said it is worth while and entertaining read. I caught the Ai no Kusabi anime on Veoh.com just a few weeks ago and thought it must have been a really old movie since it was obviously a Japanese anime originally on VHS that someone had put onto their computer and subtitled in English. And since most animes are originally mangas or serialized in mangazines in Japan, I did a little digging and found out I was correct by hitting up Wikipedia for a more thorough understanding of what I'd watched. And then to find out that it had finally been released in book form with all the back story--I had to have it! I'm really not disappointed in anything except the price to quantity ratio. Sure there are the occasional errors, but if you buy yaoi and BL books on a regular basis that just seems the norm right now. So until yaoi and BL become mainstream areas of publishing, I'm willing to give a tiny bit of slack. Still, I have a feeling that someone thinks this is a "cash cow" and I'm not saying that it's only the publisher holding out their hand for the funds. Unlike many BL and yaoi stories, this isn't just a bunch of sex scenes or a heterosexual story made into a homosexual story. This is an old story that was liked well enough that it was made into a well drawn, quality produced anime for it's fan base. And like old stories that stand the test of time (the anime still stands as a decent piece of work 15 years later), this story will be one that you will return to time and again in the future. Buy it. UPDATE: I've received up to book four now and I'm greatly anticipating book five. Our writer has tinkered with the book slightly so although we have MUCH more insight into the characters and these changes have definitely made it different from the anime movie of old, the basics remain the same. Now, I was wrong about the price to quantity ratio after having read most of the series. The artwork is the same and yet new. After a few rereads (yes, I had to read them again because they're that good), there are fewer typos than I thought throughout the four books and it was a welcome surprise. Now for those of you wondering (and for clarification), this is a NOVEL with a few page size images of the characters in alignment with action to the story NOT a graphic novel with all drawn panels and some dialogue as if it was copied from stills of the movie or vice versa. I've had a few friends (to whom I loaned the first few books) tell me they were surprised it was a book and not a comic. These same friends had seen the movie and routinely buy Yaoi graphic novels just like I do. I've since told them to stop bending the corners and getting chocolate on my pages and get their own danged books. They're well worth it!! NOW, GO BUY IT!!!! Coming from a background of not knowing much more than the name "Ai No Kusabi" I'm a little disappointed with this first book. When I picked this up, I was thinking "A nice light read to get me back into novels after reading only manga for a year." Bad choice on my part. Although this book is the yaoi genre, it's in a different league from the rest of the novels released by June. As mentioned by other reviewers, this series takes on a deeper meaning/philosophical view instead of a romance. I had quite a problem with the way it was translated. To be fair, I don't have anything to compare it to, having not read the original Japanese, but it seemed like the translated went out of her way to use big words and english sayings. My vocabulary is such that I can usually get through a good, thick Fantasy book without knowing 5-10 words, but with this book, that was the average per chapter. There were also seemingly random insertions of sayings like "spare the rod and spoil the child." I really felt like they were forcing that. I also felt like the overall flow of the story was a little disjunct. One whole chapter explained the background of the city, jumped to Riki and friends, then went back to describing the city. Even after finishing it, I don't have a clear idea of what exactly happened in the story. It took all 140 pages to simply set up the background of the city and narrate a little of Riki's group. There wasn't even any character background or development, and the reader doesn't find out much more than a few names. Obviously, this is only the first book in a longer series, but I feel like I have no foundation for the upcoming books. I probably won't purchase them unless I fall in love with the OVA or suddenly become bored with manga. If you're looking for a light read, THIS IS NOT THE BOOK FOR YOU! There is at least 4 more books in this series, so don't expect to have closure with this one. What a dissapointment. I discovered Ai No Kusabi through the excellent but perplexing Anime, and was looking forward to this translation of the original source novel to fill out some of the details of the story. It is, in a word, unreadable. The translation is apalling, with terrible grammar errors, an superabundance of cliches, and a complete absence of style. Virtually every sentence is teeth-grittingly problematic, often bordering on nonsensical. It reads like sub-literate fan fiction. I'm astonished that any publisher would put something out in this state. That they've chosen to publish it in 6 seperate volumes, meaning the whole steaming mess, assuming you could somehow stomach it, would cost you $55, is beyond hubris. I'd have settled for a merely workmanlike translation, but this is a joke, even insulting. I gave up after 30 pages. Avoid at all costs. In the future, on a distant star lives a new society. Ruled by a computer system named Jupiter, men are divided into classes based on their hair color. The Blondies, genetically altered by Jupiter, are the highest class and occupy the capital city of Tanagura. Those with black hair, Mongrels, are forced to live in the slums, Ceres.
