(Great Teether!)
(PERFECT TEETHER)
(all toys should be like this!) We heart Sophie! Now don't get me wrong, when I opened the box and saw that I paid $25 for what appeared to be a glorified dog toy - I was a little unhappy BUT then when I gave her to my 9 month old son - instant love! He carries her around and loves to chew on her. To say that it isn't a glofied dog toy is to be denying the obvious. Its made of rubber and it squeeks. LOL! BUT! This is the safest dog toy for my baby to be chewing on so I'll take it! :) When we first got it I thought did my fiancé buy this for the dog? Why did I think that?, because it squeaks just like a dog toy, feels like a dog toy, and when the dog heard it squeak she thought it was hers to. Yes it is cute and I am sure good for teething but for 20 dollars it is a bit pricy for something that honestly isn't all that different from a dog toy. I would rather have spent the 20 doallrs on a couple other more interesting teethers. (btw: this is written by the mom not the dad) My daughter loves this teether. It's super soft rubber and easy to keep clean. The long legs are great for when molars are coming in! This teether is exactly what other reviews say. It is incredible. My 6 months old took to it right away. Its the perfect shape to get those little hands around and perfect for gumming on. It's nice and soft and totally natural. We love it Sophie was a lifesaver when our son was teething. She is super soft real rubber. I am glad she is safe rubber to chew on, not plastic. With her long legs, she can be used to bite way back in the mouth for relief. He really liked her. The only complaint is she is a bit expensive! Sophie the Giraffe, full of discoveries and activities to awaken baby's senses. Sight: The dark and contrasting spots all over Sophie the Giraffe's body provide visual stimulation and make her easily recognizable to baby. She soon becomes a familiar and reassuring objet. Hearing: Her squeaker keeps baby amused, stimulates his hearings, and helps him to understand the link between cause and effect. Taste: Sophie the Giraffe is very flexible and has lots of parts for baby to chew like ears, horns, legs. She is perfect for soothing baby's sore gums when teething and is completely safe. Made of 100% natural rubber and food paint. Touch: Sophie the Giraffe is perfect for baby's small hands. She is very light and her long legs and neck are easy for baby to grip. She is very soft to touch, just like baby's mummy, stimulating soothing physiological and emotional responses. Smell: The singular scent of natural rubber from Have tree makes Sophie the Giraffe very special and easy for your child to identify amid all his other toys. Phthalates and BPA free. (Granddaughter loves it)
(Great for my 16 month old boy!)
(Awesome Toy!)
(WaterWheel) Great water toy for summer outdoor play. My 1 year old granddaughter loves pouring water and playing with the sailboats. I bought this for my 18 month old granddaughter since she loves splashing in the bath. I did need to buy her a plastic smock to wear as she tended to spill the water all over herself. I found that out the first time she tried it :)..She loves going outside and playing with it. Everytime she comes over we go outside if it is a nice day so she can play in it. I wouldn't recommend this for indoors for toddlers but during the summer months this is great. It keeps her entertained for a long time. My 16 month old boy climbed right into this and used it as a little wading pool the first time we put it together. He loves it! I was considering the sand/water table combo but am very happy with water only - much easier for mom to deal with and hey, why not keep life simple when you can! We purchased this for my son's birthday, and it has been one of his favorite gifts. I have a 17 month old and a 3 yr. old, and they both thoroughly enjoy playing with the water table for long periods of time. All kids love to play with water, and this is a great set-up. They fight over the cup, so I always give them an extra plastic measuring cup to play with so they both have something to scoop with.
The table seems to be high quality. Sturdy enough so that the kids can't knock it over, but light enough for me to easily move it and/or dump the water out. Love it! I sent this to my granddaughter for her 1st birthday. It was such a hit my daughter sent pictures of all the children playing with it at her party. My 18 month old granddaughter had so much fun with it her Mother ordered one too, and so did my boss for her niece. No problems with leaking or anything. My 3 year old grandson plays with it too. I couldn't be happier with this choice. Falling water brings interactive excitement to play time! The WaterWheel play table includes boats, a waterwheel, and a cup for pouring, all in an elevated design that keeps children as clean as possible while still encouraging creative water play. (Well Thought Out Game- Something Different)
(Great Family Game)
(Addicting!)
(Ideal Family Game) We needed a new game to play with our grown children and friends when they visit, or when we are together at Beach Week. "Sorry" and "Uno" are great, but lack variety. The trivia games seem to favor one or another generation to the detriment of the others....
The Settlers of Catan seems to fill the bill! It is easy to learn (especially with the on-line tutorial). It offers remarkable variability from game to game. The length of the game is good, it doesn't drag on and on if you seem to be not doing well, and fortunes can change in an instant.
We would recommend this for teens to adults and mixed groups. Only played it once and already appreciate the thought that went into this game. Game has variable set ups so it is a little different each time you play. Simple enough to learn quickly and yet complex enough to make the game continue to be a challenge. I look forward to many more enjoyable games in the future. The only downside I forsee is the interlocking cardboard pieces. I wonder how well and long they will last.
KLM A friend recommended this game, so I purchased without ever playing before. The game has an online instruction site that was very helpful. So, once we got ready to play, I felt comfortable explaining the rules to my family. The game is for 10 year olds and up - but I found my seven year old daughter had no problem playing the game - although her trades of cards were sometimes irrational. Lots of talking and laughing during the game so good as a family activity. I would have given it five stars, but the hexagon board pieces are prone to moving during the game, so I may glue the frame to a piece of wood or carboard to make the game more robust for family play. All in all - a good value for your entertainment dollar. We played the game three times the first week we owned it. This is a fantastic board game !! I used to love monopoly, but this puts it to retirement. I played with a number of friends, and it gets so addicting afterwards. It doesn't consume a lot of time, and the interaction in the game is superb. It makes a great gift too This is a great game for the family since even younger kids can play and compete well against the older kids and adults. A great game to take camping. I'm not a big board game person but enjoy playing this game with the kids. One of the most successful games of all time, Settlers of Catan is a trading and building game set in the mythical world of Catan. Players roll dice to determine which resources are generated each round and then must strategically trade those resources with other players to get what they need to build their settlements, cities, and roads. With multiple ways to gain victory points and a board that changes in every play, Settlers of Catan is a game that can be played hundreds of different ways. The base of a hugely successful franchise, with multiple engaging expansions, Settlers is the core game of many collections, and is a wonderful way to spend time with family and friends. The Settlers of Catan from Mayfair Games is an award-winning strategy game where players collect resources and use them to build roads, settlements and cities on their way to victory. The board itself is variable, making each game a little different from the next. Each round of The Settlers of Catan is intended to keep three or four players ages 10 and above engaged for up to 90 minutes.
The game map changes every time for an endless variety of play. View larger. |
Settlers of Catan engages both children and adults, garnering best-seller status in both Germany and the US. View larger. |
 | What We Think Fun Factor:
Durability:
(what this means)
The Good:Engaging strategy game that's different each time you play
The Bad:Requires three or four players
In a Nutshell:The Settlers of Catan is fun, easy to learn, and keeps advanced players on their toes | At a Glance Ages:10 and up Requires:Three or four players
| |
| On the Road to Settlement The game rules and almanac booklet sets out four pages of guidelines for getting started. Don't worry, the rules are straightforward and the four pages include plenty of illustrations. There's a starting map that shows a well-balanced set-up for beginners to follow and directions that allow more advanced players to lay out the map of the island at random. You'll have to pop the die-cut components of the game out of their cardboard holders before you play your first game. The almanac portion of the booklet is laid out alphabetically, so while playing you can find answers to specific questions quickly. Useful entries remind you exactly what role pieces like the robber play, how actions like maritime trade work, and how to set up the board or finish the game. Exploring and Developing Catan The board consists of 19 terrain hexes surrounded by the ocean. Each type of terrain produces a different type of resource: brick, wool, ore, grain or lumber. There's also a desert hex that produces no resources. As the game progresses, players use resources to build roads along the edges of these hexes and settlements or cities on the intersections where three hexes meet. Each player begins the game with two settlements and two roads. Each player's roll of the dice causes certain hexes to produce resources, which you collect if you have a settlement on one of them. On your turn, you'll use various combinations of the resources you've acquired to build new roads and settlements, upgrade settlements to cities, or purchase development cards. The ability to trade resources with other players adds a new level of strategy and ensures that the game includes lots of interaction between players. You can also trade without worrying about other players using an unfavorable maritime trade rate. Elements including a robber piece that lets you steal from other players and a variety of development cards add intrigue to the game. The objective of The Settlers of Catan is to be the first one who collects 10 victory points. Each settlement is worth one victory point and each city is worth two victory points. You can also earn victory points by holding the "Longest Road" card, the "Largest Army" card, or special victory point development cards. Best-Selling Game of the Year It's easy to see why The Settlers of Catan has been recognized as a best-selling Game of the Year in both Germany and the U. S. We found this game to be fun and engaging for both children and adults, and the variable nature of the playing field really made us want to play again and again. When we started pausing to contemplate our opponents' strategy and factoring the probability of different dice rolls into our moves, the game sometimes took longer than expected, but we were so engrossed we didn't even notice until it was all over. Due to the widespread popularity of the original game, several expansion sets (sold separately) are available that allow you to explore new aspects of the game or add more players. The only downside to this game is that you need to have either three or four players to play, so it's great that expansion sets are available that will allow you to add players. What's in the Box Six sea frame pieces, 19 terrain hexes, nine harbor pieces, 18 circular number tokens, 126 game cards, 16 cities, 20 settlements, 60 roads, two dice, a robber and a rules and almanac booklet.

Usually ships in 24 hours customer 's review (Best family game ever!!!) I'm very glad with the choice I've made. This is the best family game ever... Blokus is the strategy game for the whole family! Players take turns placing pieces of their chosen color on the board. Each new piece must touch at least one other piece of the same color, but only at the corners! When the board is full, each player counts up the squares in their remaining pieces¿ the player with least number of squares wins! Fun for both kids and adults, Blokus is a strategy board game that challenges spatial thinking. Bright colors and simple rules make it ideal for ages five and up, but adults will certainly be engrossed by this unique and challenging game. Not Your Average Board Game Blokus encourages creative thinking and has received a Mensa award for promoting healthy brain activity. The goal of this game is for players to fit all of their pieces onto the board. When placing a piece it may not lie adjacent to the player's other pieces, but must be placed touching at least one corner of their pieces already on the board. The player who gets rid of all of their tiles first is the winner and strategic thinking helps as you block moves from your opponent. Blokus sometimes comes to an end because there are no more possible moves. Four players make this abstract game especially fast and exciting; however, it can be just as fun for two or three players. Blokus has come up with a number of different ways to play the game to make it more thrilling when playing with less than four players. Draft Blokus allows a player to use more than one color and Reverse Blokus reverses the entire game so that the person who places the least amount of tiles on the board is the winner. It can even be played in a solitaire version when one player attempts to place all of their pieces in a single sitting. A game of Blokus typically lasts a 30 minutes. As a practical feature, raised edges on the board help keep the tiles in place and allow convenient clean-up. This game includes 84 pieces in four vibrant colors, an instruction guide, and one gameboard with 400 squares. Blokus is simple to understand, but the game's complexity is revealed shortly after everyone begins to play. It can be addictive, even for those not normally into abstract games. Blokus is a catalyst for spatial thinking, as players form images in their mind before placing the pieces on the board. Children and adults can play together for hours of competitive family fun. As Europe's 2003 Game of the Year, Blokus is adored by many and even played in professional tournaments. What's in the Box 84 pieces in four colors, gameboard with 400 squares, and an instruction guide.
Once a piece has been placed on the board it can't be moved, so plan your moves carefully. |
Adding to the game's challenges, each new piece must touch at least one other piece of the same color, but only at the corners. |

(FUN&EDUCATIONAL)
(Great learning experience)
(Love to see the butterfly)
(Tumble Buggy) This is a great educational item. You do have to pay $3 additionally for shipping, but still very well worth it. I enjoyed it as much as my 4 yr old did. When we released our butteflies to the outdoors we found them to be extremely tame and we got to hold them for a few minutes before they flew away. So be sure to have your camera ready if you decide to let them go.. what a great photo op! Then we caught a wild catapilar and kept him until he was a butterfly. He was really cool to have but he flew away immediately upon realse. I bought this for my Grandson and sent it to him. It was a hit with him. It's one thing to read about butterflies in a book, but a whole different level to watch them grow and let them go, and feel you've had a part in their care. Highly recommend. Overall this was a great product for my child to observe. The obvious issue is explaining to your 6 year old how fragile these insects are and that she can't mess around with it all the time. That is why I gave the item a lower rating for durability, it's a look, but don't touch kind of thing. The kit itself is very durable and can be saved for future use! We had a lot of fun with it thought, watching everyday in anticipation for our beautiful butterflies to enter into the world. This is the second times we got this product. The first one was a birthday gift for my son who was 3 years old. This time I got it for him, as he really loves insects especially caterpillars and butterflies. He goes to park everyday to catch butterflies and then releases them after 1 or 2 days. We fed the flesh flowers sprayed with sugar water.
We love this kit. We received the caterpillars about 1-2 weeks. All 5 caterpillars are alive. They were tiny, seeing them double in size everyday is amazing. After we release the butterflies, the butterfly garden is very useful for my son to keep the bugs he catches everyday. Children Toys: Purchased two cars for grandchildren. One conked out after 30 minutes. (give me toys) was fast to replace it. Great Vendor but product may have a few flaws but not the vendor's fault. The price was good and I would buy from this Vendor again if Amazon did not have in stock. Raise 3 to 5 Painted Lady butterflies while learning all about metamorphosis with this Oppenheim Best Toy Award-winning butterfly raising kit! See each caterpillar’s transition as it matures, changes into a chrysalid, and finally emerges as a Painted Lady butterfly! After observing your butterflies, experience the joy of releasing them into your backyard! Available only in the Continental U.S. and Alaska. Please be advised that there is an additional $3.00 required when redeeming your coupon for shipping and handling. Did you know that painted ladies (the butterflies, that is) taste with their feet and have 10,000 eyes? You and your kids will be fascinated by all you learn about these beautiful creatures with the Butterfly Garden from Insect Lore. The kit comes with a relatively easy-to-assemble observation chamber; supplies for feeding the butterflies (you provide only sugar and water); an informative booklet of clear instructions and butterfly facts; and a certificate for three to five free painted lady caterpillars. The metamorphosis from larva to butterfly takes about three weeks from when you receive the caterpillar larvae (which arrive in a small container with all the nutrients they need). Your children can watch the larvae increase dramatically in size, form chrysalides, and finally emerge into full-fledged painted ladies (it's suggested that they release the butterflies after a few days of observation). This would make a wonderful activity for families with kids of any age, but younger children will need help assembling the observation chamber and reading the instruction booklet. (Note: The manufacturer recommends that butterflies should not be set free in temperatures lower than 55 degrees Fahrenheit.)--Rachel Radway Rerations < Live Butterfly Garden >

(Excellent game)
(Bananagrams - a crossword tile game you can play everywhere with anyone)
(Fun Game)
(Rattle those bones!) Great game. For those who like word games but don't enjoy the formality of scrabble. Banagrams is an excellent game for 2 to 6 people, ages about 11 up, for all ages above. Good variation not in insturctions: With only 2-4 players, set up two piles, one for dumping and the other for peeling. To go through all of the tiles is too tedious and frustrating. Games are shorter with this suggestion, and more fun.
Bananagrams is a word game that uses letter tiles - 144 unusally finger-friendly, bakelite letter tiles. It will remind you of other letter-tile word games, many other letter-tile word games, until you actually read the rules (which are simple enough to summarize on the 1x2-inch tag that is attached to the banana-like zippable package).
Basically, you draw a bunch of tiles and try to assemble all of them into a crossword array. If you succeed, you draw more. That's about it, basically-wise. The full rules are a bit more complex. Players all get the same number of letter tiles, the exact number depending on the how many are playing. They race to assemble all their letters into a crossword. As soon as one player succeeds, she calls "peel," at which time every player has to take a another letter tile. And so it goes, on and on, until almost all the letter tiles are used up. Naturally, the first player to have used all her tiles shouts "bananas" (if she still has the presence of mind to remember), and wins the game.
Everything about Bananagrams is Major FUN, the quality of the tiles, the portability and storability, the adaptability and flexibility. Because the game is so simple to explain, it is also simple to change - to adapt to different skill levels, different environments and time constraints. Read, for example, Lance Hampton's exemplary story of how he plays Bananagrams with his kids. We're working on variations for teams, and maybe even cooperative versions.
The Nathanson family, Bannanagram designers, comment:
"Obsessed by all the word games that could be found, we all hankered after something a bit more fluid than the classics we all love and wanted a game that the family could play together - ALL ages at the same time. We sought something portable, that we could take with us on our various travels and simple enough (with no superfluous pieces or packaging) that we could play in restaurants while waiting for our food. We love that one hand can be played in as little as five minutes, but as it's so addictive, it's often hard to put away!"
If you like playing with words, it's very likely that you'll be taking a banana-case full of Bananagrams with you everywhere. One of my coworker recommended this game. I ordered it and had a fun time playing it with my husband. I would recommend it to others. I agree with everyone else that it's fun to play and simple enough for a child to play with adults, but what I like most are the real urea game pieces. They have a weight and texture about them that brings back memories of when I used to "rattle the bones" as a kid. Bananagrams is a fast and fun word game that requires no pencil, paper or board. All you need is a table. One hand can be played in as little as five minutes. It is a great for family fun as well as being educational. Bananagrams portability makes it perfect for travel. Just grab the pouch and go. Rerations < Bananagrams >

(Great baby toy for 2.5 months and up)
(Wonderful Music)
(Great musical toy, great sound)
(The BEST Infant Toy We Could Find) This toy is entertaining and my son played and still plays with it when riding in a car. The flashing color lights are fun; however, the speaker is located on the back of the toy and as soon as you lay it down, the sound becomes muffled or inaudible. We received this toy as a gift when my daughter was two and a half months. I immediately began using it with her. Right from the start she was very interested in the toy; looking at it and listening to it. She is just over three months and she now smiles and laughs whenever we first play it for her. It is adorable to watch. We just purchased another to bring to day care.
I agree with other reviews that the music is not annoying or "tinny." My 4 month old daughter loves the lights and music on this toy. The music is lovely so I enjoy it as well. It is not overpowering like the music on many children's toys. When she starts to cry in a store I pull out this toy and immediately she is mesmerized by the lights. This musical toy is fantastic. Our granddaughter is fascinated with the music and the flashing colors. It is quite entertaining and the the music plays nice and clear. This is a toy that all parents should have. Our baby is 3 months old, and loves to look at lights, especially those that move or flash. That being said, those items are hard to find. Most only play about 3 seconds of songs and lights, then you have to activate them again. This toy has 1 large, kid friendly button that activates it. They are then treated to about a minute of classical music while 7 LED lights of different colors flash to the beat. It has made a huge impression on our little one, and brought great relief to us. The music is no CD quality, but is non verbal classical (you have heard all of the songs before) and it is not as annoying as other toys. It doesn't bother us a bit, but we are former classical musicians. For $10 (or less) IT CAN'T BE BEAT!! Promote music appreciation and auditory development by introducing your little one to baby-friendly versions of classical masterpieces by Mozart, Vivaldi, Chopin and Rossini with the Baby Einstein¿ Takealong Tunes! A large, easy to press button allows your baby to toggle through 7 high quality and enjoyable classical melodies at home, or for on-the-go fun! (Think Fast!)
(Fast and fun with four letter words)
(Scrabble Slam)
(A reasonable card game but not great.) not really at all like Scrabble, but a fast, find 4 letter words game. Everyone plays at once, so you have to be quick and loud! This has been sold out at the local Target's and Walmarts around me, but I ended up finding one for around $5 at the last Target I found. Hopefully the price will come down here at Amazon soon. Picked up this one and Monopoly Deal - and everyone loved Monopoly Deal a lot more. All in all, for a 5 min game, fast and easy, this one was good! For 20 min of thoughtful fun, try Monopoly Deal! This is a great card game. You must think fast. My grandaughter loves this game. My older teen grandchildren and my sisters had fun playing this game. It moves along fast and so did we. Laughing. We searched all oer town for this product and couldn't find it anywhere in Modesto, Ca We ordered it online and received it promptly and in great condition (new). It ended up costing us aroun $15 shipping included. When I flew out to Dallas to see my daughter, I found the same product for around $5. Oh well. I have no idea why the Amazon price is so out of line with reality on this product. I bought this game at Target for less than $5.00.
It is fun to play and stimulates your brain somewhat, but not to the extent of the original Scrabble game. You can modify the rules and play it with younger players (we play it with our four year old).
Amazon also lists a bunch of choking hazard warnings with this product. Unless your kid can swallow a playing card there is no choking hazard that I can find.
It is worth $5.00 but not $16.00. The fast-paced word game where anything can happen. Scrabble Slam is a high-speed four letter word game. (Serves its purpose)
(Not Impressed) I bought this for my baby months ago, and he has never had much interest in it. I'm glad of that now, since I saw the Prop 65 warning to California residents on Amazon's description of the toy. I'm offended that Fisher Price seems to think that it is okay to sell toys that contain dangerous chemicals to children. Plus, the toy isn't that great!
As other reviews mentioned, the top easily pops off of the toy giving babies no incentive to use the shape sorter function of the toy. My son would usually just grab the lid and knock the thing over. Then he would go on to the other toys that were more interesting for him. I would not buy this toy again or recommend that anyone else do so. My daughter loves this toy. It helped her learn five colors and shapes, and we also used it as a therapy toy when she was young (fine motor skills). My 9 month old is more interested in chewing the shapes , tossing them in the bucket and pouring it out than to shove and sort the shapes into the correct mold. Overall, it's a fun toy and he enjoys it. It is a simple toy that gets the job done and serves the purpose. It is nice that there are 2 pieces for each shape. I'm sure we will continue to use as language skills are acquired. I don't like it. It's small and the lid comes off way to easy. I know that babies play with it and they should be able to get their shape blocks back out but in the process of her trying to put the shapes in there she knocks the top off.
I'm looking for a better shape sorter. Ten bright blocks are ready for baby to drop into the open bucket or through the shape-sorting lid. Filling the bucket with blocks, dumping them out, and starting over is great for eye-hand coordination and other early skills. Then baby can move on to sorting and stacking, learning about identifying and matching shapes while having fun! Rerations < Fisher-Price Brilliant Basics Baby's First Blocks >

(More fun than I thought it would be!)
(Great toy - good exercise and educational value)
(Great fun--but NOT durable!)
(Blast! plus Letdown...) maybe I didnt research this game enough, I read the "4 games in 1" and thought that was exciting...but each version is a slight variation only of the actual game. Or maybe its since my daughter is 8 and this is a game starting at 6+...I recall a game named Simon when I was a kid - and I think that game was more fun...25 years ago. I saw this game for some time, but just didn't think it would be fun. After seeing all the positive reviews I decided to buy it for my son's birthday. It is a lot of fun. The courses we set up do not span a great distance--so we don't do a lot of running. However, I'm thinking of expanding the distance and perhaps I could lose some weight as well as having fun! We have 3 kids of our own. Our oldest is 6 and we have a 4 year old and 1 year old. One weekend when we watched my sister's kids (ages 4 and 1), we bought this game via AmazonFresh. It was great fun for the 4 and 6 year olds. Obviously not appropriate for the 1 year olds.
First you spread out the targets around the room or yard which are different colors and have numbers on them. You select a game (hyper dash, micro dash, micro team dash) and a level (1-3). The first player strikes any target to start. The "wand" then speaks instructions to the player such as "Green!" (strike green target) or "Double Strike Blue" (hit blue target twice) or "CompuStrike 6 minus 3" (meaning strike the target with the number 3 on it) or "Reverse" (strike last target) The player follows the instructions. If they get it wrong, the wand makes a buzzing sound and they have to keep trying. The goal is to get through all the commands in the round in the shortest time possible. AFter everyone has gone, the wand tells you which player won. There can be ties. The winners advance to the next round.
Our 6 year old understood all the commands which includes colors&math&some memory. The math was too advanced for the 4 year olds but they got the colors&memory commands.
We found that if you placed the targets far enough part (outside in the yard or at the park), the game was good exercise as the kids ran around from target to target.
The game is easy to transport - light and compact. It takes 3 AA batteries. Fit well in our stroller.
The kids really got into this game and were quite tired when they finally stopped. It seemed to exercise all the right muscles and kept their attention for at least 1-2 hours We bought this toy for our kids for Christmas, and they played with it a handful of times and had a blast. I loved how it could be an indoor game or an outdoor one. But the kids just took it out again recently, and it doesn't work anymore. It turns on, but then as soon as you press it to one of the targets, it shuts off. We have replaced the batteries, taken it apart to see if there was something that came loose inside, but nope, nothing has worked to fix it. I think it's destined for the landfill . . . what a disappointment. My kids received this as a present for Christmas and all of them from 4 to 10 loved it! It seemed like the perfect "kid" toy. However, as so many have already said, after about 1 month, it stopped working. New batteries didn't help. I even took it apart to see if a wire came out or some connection fell off, but no luck. What a letdown. I'd feel better if it wasn't such a great toy! Do I dare buy another? Probably not. Wild Planet Hyper Dash will challenge you to be your best. It takes no time at all to learn, but selectable skill levels and four completely different game modes mean the challenge will always keep you busy. Hyper Dash consists of one electronic tagger and five different colored and numbered targets. The tagger plays pre-recorded music and calls out which targets you need to strike. It tracks the amount of time taken to complete each course. There¿s no limit to the distance between targets. Further targets result in more running and exercise. Hyper Dash can be played indoors or outdoors; solo, in pairs, or in teams. As your speed, skill and agility improve, the series of commands becomes longer and more challenging. Level one calls out thecolors you need to tag, level two includes numbers, level three adds special commands like double strike, triple strike, reverse, double reverse and level four features compute-strike like addition/subtraction problems in which you tag the sum or difference of the numbers called out. Other play modes include the memory game of Micro Dash and multi-player relay races that promote teamwork. For a game of Hide `n¿ Dash, let your opponent hide the targets before you begin. Every game has encouraging cheers and upbeat music to keep kids on their feet, expending energy and having fun. Hyper Dash is an award-winning fast-paced race course game from Wild Planet that encourages kids to be active and think on their feet. Designed to improve listening, coordination and math skills, this exciting game is easy to set up and is an ideal way to help kids aged six and above to practice addition and subtraction while exercising and having fun.

 | What We Think Fun Factor:
Durability:
(what this means)
The Good:Award-winning way to stay active; improves listening, memory and math skills
The Bad:Plastic unit may not hold up to lots and lots of rough play
In a Nutshell:Hyper Dash is a fun way for kids to exercise their bodies and their minds | At a Glance Ages: 7 and up Requires:3 AAA batteries

| Fast, Easy Set-Up The only set-up required is to install three AA batteries. Opening the battery compartment requires a small Phillips head screw driver, which means an adult needs to change the batteries. This keeps batteries in the right place during active play, but it also means that changing batteries on the fly requires you to have a screwdriver with you.The manual is clear and concise, with descriptions of how to play and a list of all the special commands the Hyper Voice issues, so any child can be up and running in just a few minutes. There's no button to turn the unit off, but it quickly shuts itself off when not in use to save battery life. Getting Moving Quickly The electronic tagger plays upbeat music and calls out voice commands to control the game, while players following the commands race against the clock to tag targets identified by color and number. Kids can play solo, up to four players can compete head-to-head, or up to eight players can work cooperatively in teams of two. There's even a level where kids need to solve addition and subtraction problems to figure out which target to strike next. With no complex set-up and no complicated directions to follow, younger children get started playing Hyper Dash quickly. Since players control where the five targets are positioned, there are infinite ways to play Hyper Dash. Combined with the fact that Hyper Dash offers four games to choose from with increasingly difficult levels to master, and it's easy to see why even older, more experienced players (including parents!) stay excited about this game. Four-Games-in-One The original game, Hyper Dash, features the Hyper Voice calling out commands. Four different levels allow the players' skills to progress. Level one includes only colors in the calls. The calls on level two are a little faster and include both colors and numbers, while level three adds special commands like "Double Strike," "Triple Strike," and "Reverse. " Level four features the "CompuStrike" call, which require kids to solve basic math problems, such as "four plus one" or "three minus two. " In Team Dash, a special command indicates when the Hyper Dash unit should be handed off, turning the race against the clock into a relay. The games Micro Dash and Team Micro Dash set out sequences that get progressively longer and trickier, providing a challenging test of memory. The Hyper Dash unit keeps track of times and scores, and the Hyper Voice announces the winner at the end of the game, cutting down on arguments. With only one Hyper Dash tagger, kids will have to wait their turn to play in multiple player games. This can be both a lesson in patience and an opportunity to cheer others on. RFID Technology for a Flexible, Durable Game Hyper Dash uses radio frequency identification (RFID) to recognize the targets. The same technology is used to track packages and to identify books and DVDs in many libraries. This means that a wireless signal connects the Hyper Dash unit and the targets, so there's no need to strike targets with force. While the Hyper Dash tagger unit seems incredibly durable, it is made of plastic. Just because RFID technology means kids can tag targets lightly, it doesn't mean they will. Our one concern about the game is the possibility that hard play will damage the tagger over time. With RFID, there's no limit to how far apart you set the targets. You can set them up at opposite ends of a football field for a serious test of endurance, or close together requiring fancy footwork. You can even them up next to each other to see who has the quickest hands. This flexibility makes Hyper Dash appropriate for both indoor and outdoor spaces. Award-Winning Educational Fun Kids have so much fun playing Hyper Dash that they don't realize how much they're learning. Parents will love the way Hyper Dash combines active play with lessons that support color and number recognition, basic math skills. The game's format also inspires better listening and improves kids' coordination. It's no wonder that Hyper Dash has won an iParenting Award and a Seal of Excellence Award from Creative Child Magazine, along with several other honors recognizing it as an innovative, educational toy. What's in the Box Hyper Dash unit and five plastic targets.
