(Great Summer fun)
(Made the party!!!)
(This is no joke) I was REALLY REALLY unhappy with this slide at first. I paid $500 for it and the minute we took it out of the box, it failed. It had holes in it and was torn. after MUCH fight with the non existant customer service, they sent me a new one and I had to return the old one to TRU (a ROYAL pain). The new one I got had the same problems, lots of small holes and a torn seam. I again got back on the phone and duked it out with the warrenty people ( yes, I was stupid enough to buy the $40 warrenty - READ SMALL PRINT - i didn't) - anyway, after 4 days of fighting with the manufacturer, TRU and the warrenty company, they sent me a gift card to TRU for full amount. We still have the slide - I had to patch it up about 5 times, but the kids do LOVE it - they spend about 4 hours a day on it, it's a PAIn to setup and take down, but worth the fun I guess. It's great for free, but I would NEVER EVER buy a Banzai product again - and DEFINETLY not a $500 one. We purchased this slide about 3 months ago. My children are 3 and 6 and have had a blast on it. We've had friends and cousins over to play numerous times and have not had one second of trouble with it. We did lay down a few rules, no yanking on the climbing handles and no jumping on the slide, to hopefully prevent seam tears. Don't buy this slide, or any other, if you think you can just leave it outside in the sun and blow it up every once in a while. After the kids are finished playing, you must let it drain and keep it blown up for a couple of hours to get completely dry before storing it. The storage bag is a joke, and even the largest plastic tub Walmart sells will not hold this thing, so be prepared for that. The fun pack that comes with this slide if purchased through Amazon is dollar store quality so don't expect much there. The slide however is great. It is WORK every time, but we found it to be worth it. We are very happy with our purchase. I purchased this after thoroughly reviewing this and it has met my expectations and then some!! It is worth the money spent. I have 2 children 4&6 and they cannot spend enough time on this. Their friends have come over continuously and the adults have had their fair share of fun! i would deflinitely recommend this!! Very durable!! Easy to set up, it took 2 of us about half an hour and it literally MADE the party, so much so that we are keeping it up for the rest of the summer. Putting it away was very difficult because you have to wait for it to completely dry. Well worth the money and the adults love it just as much as the kids, if not more. We did not even get to try the slide. We purchased this at a local toy store with an extended warranty to cover our bases after seeing the questionable reviews. After taking it home we opened it up and realized it had been used. The slide had stains on the bottom, was covered with dirt and debris and there was water in the plastic hoses. It gets worse though because there was nothing else in the box: no blower, no stakes, no carry case, no instructions, no weight bags, it was only the dirty slide. We were very grateful the store accepted our return since it was less than 2 hours after purchase and the product was clearly used and missing items. It must have been sent by the manufacturer this way since no returns are accepted once the box is open. We have taken this as our omen not to try another one. Get set to make a mega splash with this giant water slide! Leap through the tunnel and down the diving ramp into the splash pool! Then, scale the climbing wall of this 10-foot-tall waterslide and ride the banked curve all the way back into the splash pool. Inflates in less than three minutes with the included continuous-airflow blower motor and easily attaches to any hose. Heavy-duty Dura-Tech construction ensures lasting strength and durability, while the constant airflow helps resist small tears and punctures. Included blower motor features GFCI for maximum safety and convenience. Measures 15'L x 16.25'W x 10.5'H. Holds up to 400 pounds. Rerations < Sidewinder Blast Falls With Banzai Fun Pack >

(Excellent Gift!)
(Fun, But Be Careful!)
(Great educational item....BUT......)
(disappointing-had to purchase caterpillars for the initial project.) Catapillars took over a month to arrive and that is hard to keep explaining to a four year old everyday. Then when they did finally arrive, they were dead and we had to send them back before they would send us some new ones. Takes too much time for a child to understand. And why would you send catepillars by regular mail in the heat of July? I've given this as a gift many times. It's great! The butterfly habitat is huge and kids love to watch the caterpillars change to their chrysalides and then into butterflies. I also got one for my 80 year old grandmother and she loves watching them change every dady.
It says it comes with a coupon for free larvae, however, you still need to send in $5 for shipping when they order the caterpillars. That was a bit misleading to me and I didn't realize that until after I gave a few of these as gifts. This habitat was a blast! This was ordered by the libraries in my area as part of the Catch the Reading Bug summer reading program. The kids absolutely loved it! We even had a butterfly release party after storytime so the kids could watch them fly away. It was fun to watch how the butterflies were willing to help each other out. One of ours was born with an injured wing(like Nemo and his fin). One of the butterflies helped him learn to fly by gently pushing him in the air until the injured butterfly figured out how to fly. Out of the 10 caterpillars we received, 8 made it. One somehow disappeared and one was killed in the chrysalid stage.
If you have young kids, this kit is fun, but make sure to keep the caterpillars, chrysalis, and butterflies in a safe place. The young kids at our library were a little careless one day while one of our other librarians wasn't watching the desk and they knocked off one of the chrysalids. It was in a crucial stage right before it was to turn into a butterfly(a day or two before), so it wasn't quite ready to come out when it's cocoon was cracked. The one butterfly who had hatched already tried to help it to get out, but it never succeeded. That's why it's important with young children to keep an eye on them when they're watching the butterflies. Older kids are fine alone, though. We ordered this for my daughter's 4th birthday and it was a fantastic gift! The environment is high quality (perhaps a bit small...I'd go for the larger one next time to give the butterflies more space to soar) and easy to clean. All of our butterflies lived and actually laid eggs. We placed a lantana plant inside the cage for them to eat on and lay eggs on. It was a beautiful thing to witness. NOTE: the baby caterpillars that came from the eggs our butterflies laid, if you want to do this all again, DO NOT LIKE TO EAT lantana and they died. I'll be doing thistle, hollyhock or malva next time once they hit the big caterpillar stage. Last night I ordered my new 5 caterpillares, nutrient, manual, and new supplies *for $7*. I ordered this from www.carolina.com which had the least expensive pricing around. INSECT LORE will rape you on this ($15!!!!! for the same thing, actually just the cup, nutrient and caterpillars nothing else) after the first coupon is used (if you do this again). I HIGHLY rec. using carolina.com to order supplies after your first go-round. Insect lore's CEO communicated with me personally and she was rude, unhelpful and uncooperative when I emailed the company in regard to the uncompetitive high pricing for refills (if you will). I was surprised by her curt response and non-helpful attitude. So, in sumnation, go ahead and buy the kit from them but if you decide to do the butterflies again after you release the first ones, buy them from carolina.com! :) Very disappointing. When my granddaughter received this gift, she found that there were no caterpilars to watch, and infact had to wait to purchase the crystallis before she could do anything! Very disappointing! Witness one of nature's most spectacular transformations up close with this reusable, collapsible habitat. Fine, transparent mesh lets you see butterfly metamorphosis up close. Product includes easy-to-use feeder and complete instructions for habitat. Butterfly larvae with food shipped directly to your home. The habitat collapses for storage when not in use. You can adopt and raise a handful of caterpillars, watch them transform into painted lady butterflies, then lift the garden cover to release your beautiful specimens into the wild. This exciting habitat makes a fabulous introduction to the miracles of nature. The larvae and food available round the year. Did you know that painted ladies (the butterflies, that is) taste with their feet and have 10,000 eyes? You and your kids will be fascinated by all you learn about these beautiful creatures with the Butterfly Garden from Insect Lore. The kit comes with a relatively easy-to-assemble observation chamber; supplies for feeding the butterflies (you provide only sugar and water); an informative booklet of clear instructions and butterfly facts; and a certificate for three to five free painted lady caterpillars. The metamorphosis from larva to butterfly takes about three weeks from when you receive the caterpillar larvae (which arrive in a small container with all the nutrients they need). Your children can watch the larvae increase dramatically in size, form chrysalides, and finally emerge into full-fledged painted ladies (it's suggested that they release the butterflies after a few days of observation). This would make a wonderful activity for families with kids of any age, but younger children will need help assembling the observation chamber and reading the instruction booklet. (Note: The manufacturer recommends that butterflies should not be set free in temperatures lower than 55 degrees Fahrenheit.)--Rachel Radway Rerations < Live Butterfly Garden >

(Very fun game)
(Fun, challenging, for all ages)
(Blokus)
(Great learning fun) Played this with my family and we enjoyed it. Very easy to learn\teach, but tricky to build strategy with. Made the young ones think. Very engaging game.
While far from fragile, I thought the pieces could be snapped in the wrong hands. However, I don't know if this is something that can be remedied at manufacture. My advice? Keep it away from the toddlers.
My husband and I truly enjoy this game. It is not as addicting as Tetris but similar in nature, competing with quick sharp spatial skills. The only thing I think that would make this game better is adding a hourglass to it as you get some people who take WAY too long on their turn. Otherwise I highly recommend My husband and 2 kids, aged 11 and 4 are 'addicted' to Blokus. Our 4 year-old helps out by playing the fourth color and we score as if it was the 3-player variation. He enjoys himself and makes shapes with his pieces while the others think how to block and prepare 'escape routes'. Loads of fun and brain training. This is a great family game. My husband and I play Blokus with our 6 year-old twins. It is a fun strategic game that we can all enjoy playing together. My parents got hooked on it after playing it with our children. I ordered Blokus for them and other relatives. I would highly recommend the game to adults or families with children, because it is a good thinking-game. This is so much fun players don't even realize that they are developing spatial perception! Experience doesn't always win. I was beaten by my eight-year-old daughter. We play the game according to the rules, but after we are done. My daughter loves to use the pieces to make colorful patterns on the game board.
This is one of the games used in by my daughter's vision therapy office. They use small box lids to separate the different colored pieces. The trays provided in the game make it very difficult to see each shape individually. I definitely recommend using different trays. That makes it easier to identify the pieces and therefore to have more fun. Enjoy
Grades K and up. Europe's 2003 game of the year! Develops logic and spacial perception while kids learn to be tactical. Players take turns placing pieces on their board, each starting from their corner. Each new piece must touch at least one other piece of the same color, but only at the corners! The goal is to get rid of all your pieces. The game ends when all players are blocked from laying down any more of their pieces. Includes one gameboard with 400 squares, 84 game pieces in four bright translucent colors, and an instruction guide. Fun for both kids and adults, Blokus is a strategy board game that challenges spatial thinking. Bright colors and simple rules make it ideal for ages five and up, but adults will certainly be engrossed by this unique and challenging game. Not Your Average Board Game Blokus encourages creative thinking and has received a Mensa award for promoting healthy brain activity. The goal of this game is for players to fit all of their pieces onto the board. When placing a piece it may not lie adjacent to the player's other pieces, but must be placed touching at least one corner of their pieces already on the board. The player who gets rid of all of their tiles first is the winner and strategic thinking helps as you block moves from your opponent. Blokus sometimes comes to an end because there are no more possible moves. Four players make this abstract game especially fast and exciting; however, it can be just as fun for two or three players. Blokus has come up with a number of different ways to play the game to make it more thrilling when playing with less than four players. Draft Blokus allows a player to use more than one color and Reverse Blokus reverses the entire game so that the person who places the least amount of tiles on the board is the winner. It can even be played in a solitaire version when one player attempts to place all of their pieces in a single sitting. A game of Blokus typically lasts a 30 minutes. As a practical feature, raised edges on the board help keep the tiles in place and allow convenient clean-up. This game includes 84 pieces in four vibrant colors, an instruction guide, and one gameboard with 400 squares. Blokus is simple to understand, but the game's complexity is revealed shortly after everyone begins to play. It can be addictive, even for those not normally into abstract games. Blokus is a catalyst for spatial thinking, as players form images in their mind before placing the pieces on the board. Children and adults can play together for hours of competitive family fun. As Europe's 2003 Game of the Year, Blokus is adored by many and even played in professional tournaments. What's in the Box 84 pieces in four colors, gameboard with 400 squares, and an instruction guide.
Once a piece has been placed on the board it can't be moved, so plan your moves carefully. |
Adding to the game's challenges, each new piece must touch at least one other piece of the same color, but only at the corners. |

(Yes, its worth the money! It's a must have...)
(Parent-centric) My 4 month old daughter loves this jumperoo! She loves to spin around in the seat and play with all of the different toys. She is a little bit too short to touch the ground, so we put a cushion underneath which works fine. It was significantly less expensive than in the stores and easy to assemble. This keeps my baby entertained and it's fascinating to see her learn how to work the toys. I would definitely recommend this. My 4.5 month old daughter really loves to bounce in this thing! I'm sure she will love it even more once she can hold her head steady for long amounts of time without tiring. Only thing about this jumperoo is that she quickly gets overstimulated! Other than that its great. my granddaughter was very happy with the jumperoo...she is six months old and very active....the largest drawback was moving it thru the doorways to go room to room. I thought the cost for this was a little high at first.. but my 4-5 month old loved it - even before his feet could touch the floor. When he finally grew into it, he was bouncing so much and laughing we couldnt believe how cute he looked. He seemed to squeal in delight as he reached for the toy bird and frog. Now that he's older, the only difficult part it sliding him in, but he still enjoys it. At 10 months, he is beginning to lose interest as he is about to take his first steps..but once he does that, it will be time to put this one away. I highly recommend it. (It does take some space, though.) The folding option isnt the best either. My daughter's grandma got this for her.
This was deffinatly designed with the parent's view in mind not the child's. For example, the screws for the rainbow-sun toy all face the baby. When she looks at the cloud there are six screws and screw holes. There are only two hanging animals on the three posts. The monkey only swings in, which is fine when you show her it moves, but it doesn't move when she bats at it. The elephant faces away from her most of the time, and doesn't even completely turn towards her if she pulls it. the parent gets to see it the whole time not the child. Also the tiger that plays peek-a-boo barely moves. It doesn't bounce up or anything. It goes up maybe a quarter of a centimeter so you can barely see it's eyes. Oh yeah, and the toy to chew on, the cord isn't long enough. She has to be facing it exactly and lean all the way over to chew on it.
The bouncing action is great though.
Everything your baby needs can be found in this Rainforest Jumperoo. Its newly designed frame allows you to opens it up from the top, and lets the seat rotate 360 degrees so baby can play and interact from any side. A fun seat and toys at five locations on the platform engage baby all the way around, and an electronic toy at the front has motion, music and lights that can be activated by baby spinning a drum.Seat also features a bobbling elephant, a monkey swinging from a vine, a parrot hanging from a bead bar, a clear spinning bead ball, a tiger that plays hide and seek, a spinning lizard that makes rattling sounds, a tethered chew toy and a stack of chips with cute graphics for baby to explore. Two soft leaves extend from the frame to create an overhead 'canopy' with soft toys that dangle down for fun bat-at play. Jumperoo has has three height adjustments for extended use. Frame pivots to a nested position so it can be tucked away when not in use. Includes a motion sensor that encourages kids by rewarding them with lights and sounds when they jump. Weight Capacity is 25 pounds. Requires 3 "AA" batteries, not included. Measures 43.125"H x 32"W x 37"D. Rerations < Fisher-Price Rainforest Jumperoo >

customer 's review (WOWEEE!!!!)
(ADDICTING!)
(It beats the pants off scrabble!!!! Love it!!)
(Bought it for work, but......)
(BANANA GRAMS) This is the best game on the planet...it is not only educational, but it's challenging amd totally fun!!! I am so grateful to have been given this as a gift and that's why I buy it for my friends. This game is SO MUCH FUN! I love scrabble but hate waiting for my next move, only to be taken by another player, who took FOREVER to make their play. SO, this is like "solitaire scrabble", yet you are still competing against others, which makes it a blast! We were even able to modify the game just a tweak so that we had a 6-year old playing at the same time as teens and adults, so she did not feel left out. Don't hesitate to pick this game up! It's a fantastic way to keep your brain engaged and practice your vocabulary! We own it and bought it for our newlywed niece and her husband as well as for our other nieces who are 6, 14 and 23! They all LOVE IT! The banana peel case is cute as well and makes for easy travel. No more waiting forever for the other person to go... No more sacrificing creativity just to use the triple word score square... Set records for the longest words used... like antioxidants! They really did think outside the box on this one! Thank goodness they did! I turned 4people on to it immediately. XOXO It's fun!
I'm a librarian and we bought three sets of Bananagrams for a games camp we're doing this summer. It was the hit of the week! The adult assistants were actually ignoring the kids so they could play their own game. I do think it may be a bit frustrating to play if the people involved have completely different vocabulary levels, but my eight year old does very well playing with my husband. You see, I swiped one of the bananas and took it home. (Just don't tell......) I had played Banana Grams at a friends house and just fell in love with the game. Its easy to play and you need to use your brain to make words. Its so compact. Just need a surface to use the tiles. I highly recommend Banana Grams.

(1st Time Mom (Ooh Wee))
(Frightened my son)
(Great toy!)
(A royal pain in the butt) My mom bought this toy for my 16 mo old son when he was just under 1 year old. He loved it, and it was especially fun watching him learn how to turn it on himself by pressing the red button. The advantages of this toy are that it taught my son cause-effect. He loves the music and he laughs when watching the balls fly out. He also enjoys putting them back in again. The disadvantages are that the balls fly everywhere. So, if I am not there to chase after all of them, then it's a pretty useless toy. At first, I thought it was a malfunction that the balls flew out of control rather than popping up just enough to fall back into the catch basin at the top of the toy. But, then I read in the instructions that this was supposed to be a "fun" part of the toy. I am constantly fishing these balls out from corners of the room and from under the furniture. But, if the balls are all in place, my son thoroughly enjoys this toy!
One other thing to mention to anyone thinking of buying this toy--Playskool does not sell the balls independently of the toy. So, if you lose them or if you dog chews them up (like mine did), you cannot replace them. I found this to be annoying, especially since the toy purposefully shoots the balls out so that you have to chase them down and they can very easily get lost. I purchased this toy for my son's first birthday and he loves it. At a year, he could operate the toy all by himself. His little face just light up when he see the balls popping. The music is cool too. The balls will pop out and roll over the floor. I find the balls all over the place but both he and I love the toy. I would recommend this one. This toy scared my 11 month old son. It was too difficult for him to keep track of the balls and it overwhelmed him. Also, the music and blowing sound are very loud and annoying. It's in the closet until he's older. This toy has occupied both of my kids far longer than most of their other toys. We love it! My nearly 2 year old twins love this toy but I hate it. The balls end up everywhere and they try to shove all of their small toys and their arms (up to their shoulders) down the chute. We have had numerous toys stuck in the popper and they are practically impossible to get out. The balls fly everywhere and the popper doesn't work as well unless all of the balls are in it. On the plus side, this toy plays fun songs and seems to be durable. Get ready for some poppin', droppin', air-powered fun. Drop the five colorful balls onto the track. Watch them pop out of the top, roll down, then pop out all over again. Sometimes the balls spill over for even more interactive, put-and-take play. Silly sound effects and eight upbeat tunes accompany the animated action. This toy provides one "air-mazing" experience for your little one. Measures 18" x 7" x 13". Requires 4 "D" batteries (not included). Rerations < Hasbro Playskool Busy Ball Popper >
