(Great Walking Assistant)
『My son is 1 year old and I bought him this for his birthday. He's probably only days from walking unassisted so this thing is a blast for him. In only a few days he was manuvering this thing around the house like a pro, backing out of corners, changing from one surface to another, etc. Here are the more indepth comments I can offer:

Pros:
-Easy transition from hard wood floors to medium thickness rugs without any difficulty.
-Easy to roll accross carpeting
-Rolls slow enough an hardwoods for baby to keep up
-Light weight enough for baby to manuver many different ways to get out of jams
-The design (wide base, but not too long) makes it easy for baby to turn. Our baby has a traing that he loves as well, but the length makes it difficult to turn for him.
-Sturdy base, not real easy to turn over

Cons:
-Though my son is very active and doesn't sit long to play with ANY toy, the toys on the front of this are the same. They don't keep his attention very long
-The "phone" on ours isn't attached. I'm not sure if this was a manufacturing error or an assembly error. Either way, the phone ends up in the pantry, under the couch or wherever, not firmly attached to the toy

Honestly if you are looking for a walker this is an excellent choice. I wish I would have bought it sooner. My son has been cruising for a few months so I think he could have used this toy a lot sooner that at 1 year old. He has a blast with and squeels with delight while pushing it around.

『We bought this for our son when he was about 9 months old. Initially, we used it as an activity center and he loved it. The activity board is colorful and has easy buttons etc. for him to operate. Although he loves it, I am gibing the product 4 stars because (a) The phone comes off and is not attached to the activity board with anything. This is quite inconvenient because the phone is constantly being misplaced. (b) The shapes that come off make noises when pressed, however, these noises are quite random. For instance, he button with the corn picture will say "Corn" once, "Square" once, and "Yellow" once, but in no discernible order. Quite confusing for the child, who doesn't then connect cause and effect! (c) This is not a great walker, but the activity board makes up for that. Overall, my son thoroughly enjoys the product, it has several features, but could do with one or two areas of improvement.』

『This is an amazing puzzle. It is large and extremely sturdy. My 5 year old boy has put it together at least 200 times and now his 3 year old brother is starting to use it. The box is just as sturdy as the puzzle which is important too! I have a couple other Melissa and Doug floor puzzles and will continue to buy these when I see them, they are worth the money for their quality and durability. I hope they continue to make more! 『I got this as a first floor puzzle for my 27 month old son. He loves it! He needed a bit of help the first few times through it, but now he can do it completely on his own. 『We bought this for our son's 8th birthday. Legos are one of a few toys he comes back to again and again. He never tires of playing with them. I liked this set because it was so different from all the other sets he has (mainly airplanes and trucks). He did get stuck once and needed my help to figure out what he missed during construction. The instructions are quiet detailed. How neat that once the examples are created, then kids love creating their own new things that they come up with in their own minds. I highly recommend this toy!!!』

『This Lego set is one of the best values we've ever gotten with a lego set. The beach house is beautiful - it reminds me of real A-frame houses I used to live near in Hawaii. My 9-year-old daughter had no problem putting it together and she enjoyed the process. In addition, this Creator set contains 3 full sets of instructions to create different buildings so it is more interesting than typical sets that have only one design.

If you haven't bought legos since you were a kid, they are different now. Typically the set is a detailed model, with step-by-step instructions how to build it. This is great - the sets are more intricate and interesting than they were 20 years ago. However, usually once your kid builds the set design, it just sits there. It is a fun process for them to build it, but I've seen less "free building" from kids today using legos.

This set is different - it has three different designs so it has a lot of "playability." The pieces are also very versatile for free building, so it is the best of both worlds. The set is also much more affordable than other sets that cost upwards of $100 (and above). I would highly recommend this as a gift for any birthday party- fun for both girls and boys.』

『This is seriously the best toy I have ever bought for either one of our kids. My daughter has had hers for 2 years, and she still plays with it daily. Some days it's all she plays with. She loves to make videos of herself, make movies of her stuffed animals, and to take pictures of her dolls and little brother. A lot of times she just records her voice. There are many times I have to tell her not to have it at the dinner table and not to take it into the bathroom with her, b/c it goes everywhere with her! But at the same time, it's not like a video game that she's plugged into and not interacting with. Great toy!』

(Avoid at all costs)
『Stay away from this camera at all costs! Here's Why:

1. the camera has a .3 mega pixel output. My cell phone takes better pictures
2. the battery runs out even when the camera is off. Plan on replacing them (AA x 4) once a week
3. When the batteries run out, the pictures on the camera are gone! If you did not transfer them to a PC, they are gone!
4. the viewing sight is not what the camera focuses on! (ridiculous!) So when looking through the site, a child would have to compensate for this and aim their site ABOVE what they want to photograph to align the camera lens. ...this really doesn't matter anyway because the quality of the photo will be so terrible the item photographed will be unrecognizable anyway

I could have bought a cheap camera with 3 megapix or more that would be better and I would not mind so much if it broke after a few uses. At least I would feel better thinking that I was not scammed! Do not purchase this item!! I bought it for my daughter for $60 and it would still be garbage at 1/4 the price.』

It is easy for them to use and they love taking silly pictures. They also love to play games on the camera. It is easy to download all the photos on my computer and it is very durable. It has been dropped at least two dozen times! This was a great purchase!』

『My 4 year old love this toy. This is his favor toy and he plays a lot. He takes a lot pictures and play games. We use our TV to view pictures and the quality is acceptable. The great thing about this camera is it been dropped dozen times and still works fine. My son figure out all function buttons himself. After half a year, he still plays it. 『V-tech did so many things right with this camera - it's a shame they missed a rather key element: it's supposed to actually take pictures that a child may wish to look at. Alas, in this regard the camera is a total flop; the picture quality is abysmal. No, I didn't think I was buying a Nikon - but really! Pictures shot outdoors on sunny days border on the tolerable but anything shot indoors - well, forget about it. My almost four year old has had it for about a year now and it has stood up to her very well. It's been dropped many, many times and has come back like a champ every time - kudos. She has never mastered the joystick control used to display captured pictures - she just keeps messing it with it until it finally gives her what she wants; a poorly-designed control for such young minds. On/off and the picture-taking button are obvious and well-placed however. Other controls are pretty much a total mystery to her which tells me that they're probably ill-conceived. A display in the back allows my child to "frame" her pictures quite well - she definitely gets the concept. Battery life is so-so; as you would expect, many flash pictures tend to chew up the batteries pretty quickly.

Once the pictures have been taken however, everything starts to unravel. Yes, it's simple enough to copy the pictures to your PC - but oh dear - you and your child are going to be so disappointed with the ultra-dark, barely visible images (even with flash turned on and operational). It completely spoils the point of taking pictures in the first place - to relive the moment at some later time.

It's rather like someone building a well-constructed car with some fine ancilliary features but no engine; what's the point?』

I , on the other hand, am sorely disappointed. Melissa&Doug are one of my favorite toy makers so i was stunned to see how cheaply made and horrible these horses truly are. They are covered in some strange fuzz that my son now enjoys peeling off of the horses bodies.

Burp, Feed, and Diaper Your Own Baby
The Whoopsie Doo doll runs on three "AAA" batteries (included). With soft plastic skin and big, blue, cartoonish eyes, she is sure to charm with her realistic happy coos and giggles. Whoopsie Doo also includes two diapers, a rattle, a bottle, and two packets of Apple Doll Juice.

Her clothing is unfortunately minimal--she arrives to your house in just an undershirt--but if it gets dirty, it can be easily washed in the laundry on a cold, gentle cycle. The doll can also be easily cleaned with just a quick wipe of a damp cloth.

The baby bottle fits snuggly in its mouth, with a plastic top for feeding. You may need to give your child a lesson in diapering, as it is recommended for the baby to always be wearing one before it "pees" or "poops." It is also recommended that the Apple Doll Juice that comes with Whoopsie Doo only be drunken only by the doll. (The Apple Doll Juice is non-toxic, but you will want to monitor your child while she feeds Baby Alive.)

One bit of advice: Be sure to watch for the doll's sudden movements after feeding, or when fussing, as they are quick and at times are completely unexpected. She could easily move herself off a table. Fortunately, the doll is powered on and off by a switch, but if you forget to turn the switch off, the doll will shut itself off after whining one last time, allowing you to save on batteries.

Fun, Realistic Interactive Role-Play for Young Children
Baby Alive makes it possible for your child to role-play and interact with her new doll. This role playing will help them to learn the concepts of caring for, feeding, diapering, and cleaning their new baby, all by listening to and being aware of the baby's sounds and moods. Colorful and Durable for Toddler-Age Kids
Featuring large pink rubber grips on either side, the Kidizoom Plus won't slide or slip, whether it is in your child's hands or on a tabletop. Clearly labeled orange buttons make it easier for kids to understand the camera's various functions (e.g. the zoom-in button features a large tree, while the zoom-out button features a smaller tree). The photo editing software is easy to install and requires only very basic mouse/computer skills and a willingness to experiment.

While an adult should assist in replacing the four AA batteries or connecting to TV or PC, the Kidizoom ensures that taking high-resolution pictures and making movies will be a snap for children three years and up.

A Child's Very First Photos
Getting started with the Kidizoom is easy. Kids will quickly identify the basic functions, such as the power button and shutter button. Switching from photo to video mode is a breeze with the oversized, rubber-grip activity selector dial. With a little trial and error, kids should also be able to utilize the four-directional cursor button to add wacky kaleidoscope and underwater effects to their pictures.

Among the camera's other features are a large, 1.8-inch color LCD screen, optical viewfinders for both eyes, and a flash with a range of up to six feet. A small built-in microphone on the top of the camera records sound for movies.

As an added feature, the Kidizoom includes five challenging and fun games. The TV connector cables allow kids to enjoy the games on the big screen. Though the games themselves are unlikely to impress those kids who are already familiar with other portable game consoles, they offer a fun break between photo projects.

Greater Storage Capacity Keep Kids Busy for Hours
With a 256 MB of built-in memory, kids can take up to 500 high-resolution photos, or up to eight minutes of video, before having to transfer the files to a computer. For greater storage capacity, the Kidizoom also features an SD memory card slot (memory card not included).

Develop Photo-Editing Skills Early
The included Photo Editor software is compatible with Mac and PC, and features a selection of graphics and animation that can be added to photos. Some of the photo-editing features might initially overwhelm toddlers, but given a little time and instruction, they'll be impressing their friends with custom pictures.

With a few simple clicks of the mouse, a simple photo of a friend can be embellished with flowery borders, animals, a wig and glasses. 『This is a really fun game. You don't need to know trivia to play. It's not like in trivial pursuit where you either need to be a know it all or be on the same team as a know it all to win. The betting mechanic is what makes this game tic. Have played with 4 to 8 people and it has been fun. Could easily accommodate more. Was missing a piece when I got the game. It was a very minor issue as the game was still enjoyable; but I contacted NorthStar Games and they sent me out a replacement part, no questions, no charge. This game is made by people who obviously love what they are doing and want to make things right.』

『Wits and Wagers is always a hit wherever I bring it to. Game groups, friends' houses and game conventions. I've had to turn people away because I usually get the maximum seven players for it. A few times I've run out of chips because players bet big and won. But it's always a fun time. The creators of this game go to game conventions and run this game, giving away prizes. They were at the World Boardgaming Championships in Lancaster, PA. This game and their other release, Say Anything, are two of the best party games released in the last few years. They said a game show pilot of W&W is being made for CBS. I'll keep my fingers crossed and hope for the best for them.』

『OVERVIEW

Wits and Wagers is a game show in a box. A trivia question is read, each player writes down their answer, each player bets on which answer is right, and whoever bet on the closest answer wins. The game plays for seven rounds and the game plays in under half an hour. The game accommodates up to seven players (including teams). Like many party games, the questions are better suited for adults familiar with American culture. A family version of Wits and Wagers is currently in development.


COMPONENTS

The game comes with a set of questions, dry-erase markers and answer cards to record responses, betting chips and poker chips to keep score and bets, a casino-like felt betting mat to place bets, and a 30-second timer to keep game going.

Unfortunately, I wasn't too impressed by the components. Two of the seven dry-erase markers weren't working, and you may want to raid your own deluxe poker chip set for chips. The questions themselves are on nice coated paperstock. Contact North Star Games at NorthStarGames.com for replacement parts. They have good customer service and replied within a few days of my contacting them.


RULES

The rules are quite simple.

1. Read a question. Example questions include "How many time zones are in Russia?" or "How many spaces are there on a Candyland board?" The questions are intentionally difficult, and player are only expected to come up with a good guesstimates. All answers are numerical.

2. Each player writes down their answer. Using the timer, players have 30 seconds to write down their answer. The winning answer is the guess that is the closest without going over. Most players will quickly come up with an answer, and we often didn't use the timer.

3. Answers are revealed and sorted in numerical order. The betting mat has seven spaces, with different betting odds. The median (middlemost) numerical answer receives 2:1 odds, and the higher and lower answers receive higher odds. This step is tricky to learn at first, since the sorting involves accommodating duplicate answers, an even numbers of answers, and an odd number of answers. This step is my favorite part of the game. If some answers are way off, everyone has a good laugh. But when the answers are close, betting becomes more challenging.

4. Each player takes his two betting chips and bets on any one or two answers. In subsequent rounds, players may bet any poker chips they won in addition to their betting chips. Only the poker chips are lost, and a player may make no more than two bets. Again, the timer is used and each player had 30 seconds to make a bet. Yes, you can switch your bet at the last second!

5. The winning answer is the closest answer without going over. Players who bet on the winning answer receive their payout, so if you bet a betting chip on 2:1 odds, you receive two poker chips. Players then retrieve their betting chips. Poker chips bet on losing answers return to the bank. The player who wrote the winning answer receives a bonus of three poker chips. In play, the betting chips take awhile for players to familiarize themselves with.

And that's it! Whoever has the most chips at the end of the seventh round wins.


COMMENTS

Pros:

Fast play: The game has almost no downtime, and an entire game can be played in less than half an hour for a party game fix. The game's definitely a good fit for gamers who have "so many games, so little time".

Forgiving mechanics: Wits and Wagers does a good job in downplaying penalties for not knowing the right trivia answer (a player only needs the closest answer to receive a bonus), or losing a bet (the betting chip is returned).

Suitable for those with physical limitations: Any player with difficulty writing can simply state their answer after all the other answer cards have been turned in face-down, and have another player write the answer down for them. Vision-impaired people can have the numerical answers read to them. Color-blind people do not have to distinguish colors in this game. (The betting chips are only differentiated by color, but, in practice, how many chips are on a bet is as important as who is betting on what answer.) Some people have difficulty holding a hand of cards, and this is not needed in this game. If you don't mind the added downtime, you can play without the 30-second time limits. And, of course, this is not a dexterity or reflex game (cf. Jenga).

Components usable in other games: The dry erase markers and cards can be used in any game with a short answer (eg. Balderdash). The poker chips, of course, can be used in other games. You may want to throw away the Wits and Wagers insert and put a standard poker deck and your Balderdash question cards in the box.


Not-So Cons:

Gambling theme: Some families may not wish to play gambling-themed games. Hopefully, the upcoming family version will take care of this.

Questions possibly unfamiliar to young children and non-Americans: More than half of the questions involve American history or pop culture. Again, the family version will have different questions.

Not in-depth: Wits and Wagers does a good job for a general party game fix, but may not be enough for players who want a party game focusing on a single concept (eg. Pictionary's pictures, Balderdash's bluffing, Apple to Apple's matching, Jenga's dexterity, etc.).

Semi-intuitive rules: New players may initially stumble with the rules for arranging the answers, and retrieving betting chips. After the first round, the game should move smoothly.

Wits and Wagers does a very good job in providing a party game "fix" in only half an hour. I've successfully introduced it to various groups of party gamers who didn't know each other, and had some experience with party games. Wits and Wagers is definitely a game for your party game collection.』

『I've played Wits and Wagers many times, and everybody that I've played with loves it.

The only downside to the game is that I recommend having a set of poker chips handy. We've had several games where the poker chips included in the game weren't nearly enough...which is common when you have a person that has poker chips in their bank placing a large bet on an answer they're very confident about. If it happens to be a question that very few others know (lowest score in a Super Bowl) then you could be looking at a big payout for a 5-1 odds answer. There just aren't enough poker chips included.

No big deal. Nearly everyone has a case of poker chips.

The other thing is the pens. The dry erase pens are terrible, and it wasn't just my set. Two other people who bought wits and wagers from two other stores also reported the same problem with most of their pens dying out immediately. Again, no big deal. Go down to Wal Mart and spend a few bucks on a pack of 7 or 8 dry erase pens.

Otherwise, the game is fantastic for its fast pace and end-game strategy.
