(Great item and worth every penny.)
(writing for the young person)
(Love this!)
(I love it!!) For my daughter's first birthday, I wrote and illustrated a story for her about the day she was born. I'm no artist, mind you, but she loves it. (If you want to, I believe you can use the computer to make very simple sticker-like illustrations instead of drawing.) It was especially meaningful to her when her baby sister was born this last year. I am buying a new one for the little sister as well. I think it's a terrific idea for making a personalized keepsake FOR your child or grandchild.
The only drawback, you do have to be a little creative regarding the words per page limit.
This is such a great item and worth every penny. We'd love to do these every year and get duplicate copies for our families. This is a great way to capture the different stages of creativity in your children - and rewarding to them when they see their story "published" in a real book. Highly recommended for all ages! I bought this book for my grandughter that is 10 years old and loves to write stores. It was a wise pick for me , as it is right at her age level. Easy to understand , Easy to follow directions . For any child that loves to write stores, or to encourage a child to write it is a great book. Got this for my 6-yr old daughter's birthday. It was easy for us to do together. The great fun was getting the completed, hard-bound book back in the mail! She was so proud to be an author! She even took it to school to show her class. It's a great gift&a great keepsake. We bought the first of these for our son when he was 3 1/2 and helped him create his first book. He loved it and would read it to us daily. He's five now and has 'created' 5 additional books (this time without our help). He loves this and has decided that he's going to become a writer when he grows up (after he becomes a pilot). As a result of creating the ILLUSTORY books, he's started keeping a journal (which we thought was a big endeavor for a 5 year old- but he's managing to write in it every day about the perils of kindergarten, of course!) Kudos to the makers of this product for keeping children educationally entertained!! Publish your own book with the Illustory Make Your Own Book Kit! customer 's review (Fantastic husky)
(KIDS LOVE IT!)
(Fun, but know what you are getting into when you buy one of these!)
(enjoyable toy)
(webkins rule!) I ordered this husky for my son and was very pleased with the timeliness of delivery and excellent condition of the webkinz. Tag for webkinz was included and packaged fantasticly. Thank you. I really can't say enough about the Webkinz. Both of kids (boy 5&girl 10) really enjoy playing with their animals. They really are a great gift and I've seen in both kids more repsonsibility with taking care of the stuffed animals and keeping up with everything that goes with them. They really are happy with the Webkins line and so am I. First of all, the husky is very cute, and my five year old boy is in love with it, and the idea of selling cute stuffed animals that have a second life in a web world for kids is brilliant. But, know what you are getting into when you by one of these.
First, you'll of course have to get the pet "adopted" on the Webkinz web site. Then, you'll have to study the online user manual for the Webkinz web site because unless your child has a certain reading ability, maybe fourth grade, they won't be able to read it all by themselves.
Then of course, you'll have to teach your child what you learned. You might be with your child for a few hours at this site while you both learn your way around. With a five year old it is going to take a while. Of course, you may view it as a bonding experience, so it's not all bad, but there is a time commitment you make when you get one of these.
Then, you'll have to cope with the technical glitches at the Webkinz web site. My ordeal was in getting my son's Webkinz husky to send messages and gifts to another Webkinz husky owned by my son's best friend of the same age. The site has a "post office" where you can send letters and "gifts" to a friend on your "friend list", but they don't tell you on the site how to get a friend on the friend list, so I had to do research out on the Internet to see how this is done.
Once we had mastered that, we found that the mailbox doesn't update with new messages unless you log out of the Webkinz site and log back in again.
Some of the navigation controls on the Webkinz site are very narrow and hard for very young children to master because they require a lot of mouse precision. You may end up sitting with your child at the computer getting them through some of the things they want to do.
Finally, your pet's life is one year on the site unless you buy more Webkinz toys or buy a renewal of your pet at the end of one year. They want to hook you into spending more money. I'm glad these cute little things don't cost too much.
So, now you have an idea of what you are committing to when you buy one of these toys. Good luck! My son continues to expand his cache of webkinz with this little animal. He enjoys the website and I like the games he plays to earn wcash. The toy arrived sooner than promised and in excellent condition. webkinz is awesome and i like it better than club penguin and i played that all the time for months. i like webkinz better because it has alot more stuff to do, plus you get to see many kinds of animals. you get to name your pet and my husky is named spike. i also got a black lab and named him mike. many of my friends are playing webkinz now and we interact online by giving each other presents and sending letters. i have never had a bad experience on webkinz and i have just turned 7. i like playing polar plunge the best. my parents kinda like it too--it sure keeps me busy and happy. i sleep with my webkinz and want a real husky when i grow up. If you simply adore fabulous frogs, this lovely amphibian is sure to hop away with your heart. Play with their friends, cook secret recipes and, of course, spend lots of time hanging out with you. Youre sure to adore, adopt a Love Frog. Its special item is itll love pond and its special food is candied rose petals Rerations < Webkinz Husky >

(Excellent Toy!!!)
(Learning about animals is REALLY. LOTS. OF FUN (toot toot))
(fisher-price animal train)
(I love this train!!) Our family loves this toy! My son recieved it when he was 6 months old and still plays with it at 2 years old. The train has fun songs and animal noises, but not so much that the technology takes over. We play with the animals alone, the train alone, and all of it together! It's a lot of fun and educational. My son still loves to see giraffes at the zoo after being introduced to them through this toy. Great for a large age range and boys or girls! Enjoy it! This is an excellent toy for babies 6 months and older. It is very durable and well made. The animals are a bit heavy for younger babies but they will last a long time. I didn't notice any trouble with it moving on carpet, but I will say that it does take a long time to start moving. You have to wait for it to play a song before it will start to move. You can also buy additional cars and animals to add to the train set. My son loves to play with it and throw it across the room. It stills works great after all the abuse that he has inflicted upon it. Whoever sang the songs that this train plays has really earned her dough. She warbles, she falsettos, she vibratos.. she sells it, man. She's a much more enthusiastic singer than the woman in the Fisher Price Fake Noah's Ark, I tell you this much. I really appreciate when someone goes above and beyond the call of duty for things that don't really matter, like singing a stupid animal song on a kid's toy.
The toy itself is good, as well. My son loves to throw the gorilla at me (I think the Gorilla is actually from the fake Noah's Ark) and my daughter likes to throw the little chimp at my face. It teaches hand-eye coordination and.. ? I'm not sure. Learning about animals, I guess. Unfortunately the product was damaged upon arrival and I had to return it. Once I got the new one it was an awesome toy and my son loves it. Catchy tune as well. We bought this train for our six month old daughter. It arrived way faster than I expected. For the price that I paid I didn't think it would be as big or as nice as it is. We have so much fun playing with this toy. It doesn't get put away. Every day when she is on the floor she always manages to get to the train. I turned off the moving wheels at the moment. She's not quite crawling and she got frustrated when it went away from her. She loves playing the different songs and hitting the whistle that makes animal sounds. She figured it out within a couple of days. I haven't seen a need to get the other cars for anything other than the fact that they're super cute!! We absolutely love this!! There is one con though. The songs get stuck in your head for days on end, since they're so catchy and fun to sing along with. Toot! Toot! This motorized train helps Baby learn about animals through songs and play. Each train car has a unique feature that's sure to capture your little one's attention. The engine has a light-up smokestack that makes the train come to life when pressed. The train begins to roll forward and a song plays. Place an animal in the driver's area to learn more about the world of animals through a song. The second car features a bead bar to engage Baby's interest. Choose from two modes of play: sitting mode for the youngest baby and motion-activated mode for older play. Includes three animal friends. Requires 3 "C" batteries (not included). Measures 13" x 12" x 6.8". Toot! Toot! Here come the animals, riding around on a musical choo-choo train. This fun motorized train helps babies ages six months to three years learn about animals through song and play. The Amazing Animals and Their Choo-Choo Simply place one of the three small friends in the engine car to one of four amusing songs about animals. Baby will love to crawl along with the train as it lights up, playing music and sounds. The Go Choo-Choo also encourages curiosity as the baby figures out how to make it go. Each train car has a unique feature that captures your precious little one's attention and keeps them busy. You can choose between a sitting mode for the youngest baby and motion-activated for older play. Watch out parents, the tunes are so catchy, you'll soon be humming them yourself! Each animal car is full of rewarding activities to engage baby's attention. The engine car has leaf-shaped beads that slide from side-to-side and the smallest car has a built-in trapeze for the monkey. A light-up smokestack delights the eyes and when pressed the train moves forward in a straight line. For hours of amusement, the animals have movable joints, textured feet, teethable ears, and rainstick sounds. This toy is made from sturdy plastic and can withstand harsh child play. It rides especially smooth over hard surfaces, but works on carpet too. Best of all, should you suddenly feel like you're in a zoo, there is a power-volume control for quiet play. The Go Choo-Choo Train requires three C batteries (not included) and measures 23-by-7-by-13 inches (LxWxH). Features It is no surprise that this choo-choo was chosen for Parent's Magazine Best Toys of the Year award, 2006, as well as other prestigious awards. It develops motor skills and helps babies learn to crawl, while teaching them about animals. And these chunky animals are not just cute, their feet are sculpted with various textures for fun exploration and they have teether ears to chew on. This toy also appeals to a diverse age, from babies who are first learning to crawl to toddlers who like to sing along with the animal friends. Plus, Amazing Animals sets are available if you'd like to add to the bunch. What's in the Box Three animal friends and a motorized train.

(Fantastic)
(Fridge-Letters have grown-up)
(My daughter - A Genius!!!) My 20 month old daughter loves to play with this today. She is recognizing letters everyday. This is such a simple toy, but it's worth it's weight in gold (though, it's usually the simple toys that are). My not yet 2-1/2 year old son, has already started reading, and I give a great deal of credit to this toy that he received as a gift for his first birthday.
At about 10 months old he could recognize 2 capital letters, M and O, about 2 months after playing with this toy, which he was ecstatic about, he could recognize all the capital letters and knew they phonetic sounds. By 18 months he could recognize about 80 percent of all lower case letters, and make the correlation that they were the same as their capital counter parts. By 20 months, I could say a word and he could tell me the first letter of the word. He's now reading 3 letter words, what most teachers refer to as "sight" words", which are more a matter of memorizing the look of the whole word rather than breaking down its components.
Of course, there is no "miracle" toy to teach your child to read, and I used this in conjunction with other educational exercises, tv shows, books, and toys, but I do give it complete credit for his phonics learning.
One hint I would give for use with this and ANY/EVERY toy is : don't send your child off to play alone. Take the time to sit down and enjoy the toy with them. One reason is that as simple as pushing a button is, that is not something that is intuitive to a child. Children need to be taught how to "play" with their toys, especially educational toys, or they just won't take full advantage of the toy's full potential. And the second reason is because at that age, everything in life is more fun, more vivid, more full of flavor, and therefore more absorbed, when you have your Mommy of Daddy their sharing it with you.
So to anyone really interested in getting a headstart for your children, I would highly suggest this toy. In fact, every Leap Frog toy, we've tried has yielded a similarly "miraculous" experience. Happy learning! Our 17-month old loves this. Sings along, loves to switch the letters in and out. It's wonderful. My daughter got this as a Christmas gift. She loves to play and dance to the alphabet song and change the letters in the base unit. Other than just learning her letters, my husband and I make simple words and then teach the sound of the word to her. I see that lower case letters are now available and will most likely get them. I hope that the unit lasts long enough(or that it is still available) for my now infant son. It is so much nicer to have a toy like this than plain old letters. I hope to find a magnetic unit like this that has numbers, and I hope it is made by LeapFrog.
We have several LeapFrog toys-games and they all are of good quality and reasonable price for what they are. As my children get older, I hope that LeapFrog will still be around and making toys. I know I may be exaggerating just a little, however I believe that this toy is the best way for them to learn their ABCs. When I cook in the kitchen she plays with it on the refrigerator instead of tryin to get to my pots and pans. =) My daughter is 15 months and she humms the tune all day long and she says some of the letters already! It may not be clear, but you know what she is tryin to say! Do you know a 15 month old that can say "w"??? Well now you do! Learn letter names and sounds and create words with these interactive, magnetic letters. Just place any letter into the letter reader and press it to hear its name, its sound and a phonics song. The Fridge Phonics magnetic letter set includes 26 easy-grip magnetic letters and a magnetic letter reader that attaches securely to the refrigerator or other magnetic surface. Requires 3 "AAA" alkaline batteries (included). Phonics have never been more fun with this LeapFrog Fridge PhonicsMagnetic Set. With this engaging tool, children can learn letter names and sounds from the convenience of your refrigerator. Simply place a letter into the reader and press to hear its name, sound, and a delightful phonics song. Great as a speech development tool for ages two and up, the LeapFrog magnetic set delivers hour of amusement, while teaching the alphabet.Leap into Learning Kids will dance to the music and their faces light up as they imitate the sounds. The vowels are all colored red and the consonants are yellow, blue, or green. This helps children identify letters and see the difference between vowels and consonants. And as the children learn to grasp and place the letters, the toy sharpens motor skills. To start the learning process, this toy includes 26 magnetic letters and a magnetic letter reader. Little fingers can easily grasp the big, bright letters and place them on the fridge. Kids can also play the alphabet song by pressing the red musical note. In addition, a handy off-soft-loud control allows parents to change the volume and keeps the music at an enjoyable level. Vibrant colors and a sassy green frog captivates the kids and adds to the fun. This educational toy's durable plastic construction holds up to rough toddler play. Three AAA-size batteries are provided. Award-Winning Features This toy has received many accolades and awards from prominent toy organizations. In 2003, it won the Oppenheim Toy Portfolio Gold Seal and Snap Award; it was also named Nick Jr.com's Toy of the Year. It attaches right to the refrigerator with secure magnets and is easily accessible when your child is hungry for learning. With lively musical songs and a fun cartoon frog, the magnetic letter set can be a great educational tool for children with a severe speech difficulty, or for those just needing a brush-up on their ABCs. What's in the Box Magnetic letter reader, 26 magnetic letters, and 3 AAA batteries.

(Tea set for a young toddler with imagination)
(Ugh! There are holes in the teacups!)
(First time disappointed with Fisher Price)
(Tea Party For One) My little granddaughter loves this tea-set, and serves tea every day! When guests come, she faithfully appears with her tray and the guests love it. She was very sad that her previous porcelain tea-set got broken after she decided to hammer it into shape. Now, she tests the set for durability and is very pleased when nothing bad happens. This tea-set is a hit! Great for a 2 year old with a good imagination. Safe and durable with interesting details to hold interest. The musical teapot with the familiar tune that all toddlers know is great. Lots of parts to match and fit together adds to the fun! So I went out and bought this tea set for my daughter. We were super excited. Her cousin has this set, and has had it for about 2 years, and my daughter plays with it at her house. Well, we open up the box, and lo and behold, the teacups all have two holes in the side of the cup! You could only put just a little bit of water in them, before it reached the hole. Her cousin's teacups do not have holes. Why oh why did Fisher Price ruin a great thing?!? Also, besides the holes, if you leave the pot on it's side, the super annoying teapot lid continuously plays the "magic" pouring sound until the pot is righted. I'm talking about every 5 seconds the thing goes off. It is not a high quality music like most toys have now, but a high pitched poor quality sound. Also the teapot lid fits very tightly in the pot, which is good so that it doesn't fall out when you pour, but for a younger child, like 3 or younger, they may have a hard time with it. Overall, this is such an adorable tea set, and we were really looking forward to using it, but we returned it since we cannot even have a real tea party. We will continue our search for the perfect tea set. I purchase this for my 2 yr daughter. She was only able to play with it for a few minutes. The first time she went to place the teapot on the pedistal it snapped off; leaving a jagged edge and a sharp metal stick protruding out of the stem of the pedistal. Called Fisher Price about the problem withthe toy. They had me send it back to them, and promised to send us a new tea set. I have yet to receive it - that was 9 months ago. My four year old daughter can play with this for hours. She loves it. It colorful and surprisingly durable. I highly recommend it. This teapot over for magic pouring sounds, or presses the lid to hear a tea time tune. Set includes four cups, saucers and spoons, plus a creamer and sugar bowl with lid, and a tray for serving treats. It requires two replaceable button-cell alkaline batteries, which are included Every child should have a tea set somewhere in the toy box, not just for feeding favorite dollies and teddies, but also for practicing tea-party manners before a special party or dinner. This molded plastic set is made with the thoughtful design and extra-durable materials of most Fisher-Price toys, with the added bonus of a jolly musical teapot. It plays "I'm a Little Teapot" when the top of the lid is pressed, and also provides a "magical" chiming noise when the pot is poured (requires two button-cell batteries; included). The set includes four teacups in pastel shades, matching saucers, a sugar bowl, a creamer, and four white spoons. Everything fits onto a sturdy lavender tray with large handles and a built-in stand for the teapot.--Marcie Bovetz Rerations < Fisher-Price Musical Tea Set >
