I got these for my niece, she's nearly 6 and loved them. She is learning to read now and it was great to see her sounding out names and putting the letters together to spell them on the necklaces. It's evident that she'll be playing with these for a while as she discovers that you could actually load up the strings instead of having only a couple of beads in the middle. That said: you might want to get some extra beading string right off the bat; we were out in a very short time with lots of beads left in the box. The beads are sturdy, cute and easy to put on the strings. The box has a nice lid and keeps everything organized and easy to put away. Great starter beading for young ones. Much more durable then the plastic ones and the strings with the covered ends make it easier on Mommy! The beads are just the right size for little hands, the box is great for storing the beads and string, and there is friction between the wood beads and the round-shoelace-type string so the beads stay on the string. This is a great toy. The box is less than an inch high so it is friendly to those of us with small homes. I bought this one for my nephew. When I told my kids, they protested because they mistakenly thought that I had given theirs away. Only problem: It is slightly tricky to get everything back in the box so that it closes. It is not too bad though. Overall - I highly recommend this toy. I plan to keep it for my grandkids when my kids are done with it. This set is great. The tent doesn't lay as flat as the one in the picture; but who cares. Indy would be out treasure hunting; not wasting time sitting/sleeping in the tent. Creativity is in the mind of the child! This is a real easy kit. It's very fun and fast. There is a sword holder that spins. The tent is ok, its a little challenging. The table can break with a sword easy. The table goes together with two peaces that slide together. The fire is kind of hard. But other than that it is a nice lego set. In this set, you get Indy, Mutt, and an evil lady. The table just slides together by 2 shoe looking pieces, and any of the swords can cut through it. It is still cool. There is a crate which has a bannana, a sword, and a chicken. You can spin the sword rack, so many to choose from. Then there's the tent. There is a piece in the back which holds the tent sides, but I had to add 1 in the front. Still cool. The bench is cool, and the spiders are like no other! The fire is also nice. Webkinz is a very fun program, and they often update features to keep it interesting. Pricey, but addictive fun for kids AND grown ups. My 10 year old daughter loves it. All her friends in school have webkinz toys and they play interactive. I purchased this for myself (29 year old mother) I love Webkinz World.... The games, trivia etc... I guess I'm a big kid. It's something my 6 year old daughter and I can do together (it's OUR thing!) My neice loves to use the computer with the features this toy provides. She also likes the design of this stuffed animal. I think it's great that this toy inspires kids to get comfortable using the computer, which is an obviously important skill they will use their whole life. The kids get excited creating environments for the toys online and have fun choosing items that match the animal. She's using a snowflake theme for this one's online "room". The only complaint she has is that sometimes it takes a while to get on the site but that could be for a variety of reasons. Overall she is very happy with the Webkinz products. I think that this little guy is the best Webzinz yet-I have ordered it for my grand daughter who lives in England-they don't have them there-but having a hard time giving the penguin up. He is so cute and cuddly and he sits on my computer desk- Don't know about educational value but enjoyment value is off the charts. The children love it and have played on it constantly since we got it. Unfortunately, it arrived with a small tear between the small "pool" at the end and the slide part of it. As the kids had been eagerly waiting for the slide, we didn't send it back, but it was annoying. I also already see where some other tears are going to start soon. This slide does not come with the inflatable boogie boards (I think there is a newer version that does) and we've bought those separately because they really add to the kids' enjoyment. Perhaps our grass is simply not "thatchy" enough to give a soft surface under the slide. Despite its faults, the kids really enjoy it, either sliding on it or playing in the small pool at the end. Catapillars took over a month to arrive and that is hard to keep explaining to a four year old everyday. Then when they did finally arrive, they were dead and we had to send them back before they would send us some new ones. Takes too much time for a child to understand. And why would you send catepillars by regular mail in the heat of July? I've given this as a gift many times. It's great! The butterfly habitat is huge and kids love to watch the caterpillars change to their chrysalides and then into butterflies. I also got one for my 80 year old grandmother and she loves watching them change every dady. It says it comes with a coupon for free larvae, however, you still need to send in $5 for shipping when they order the caterpillars. That was a bit misleading to me and I didn't realize that until after I gave a few of these as gifts. This habitat was a blast! This was ordered by the libraries in my area as part of the Catch the Reading Bug summer reading program. The kids absolutely loved it! We even had a butterfly release party after storytime so the kids could watch them fly away. It was fun to watch how the butterflies were willing to help each other out. One of ours was born with an injured wing(like Nemo and his fin). One of the butterflies helped him learn to fly by gently pushing him in the air until the injured butterfly figured out how to fly. Out of the 10 caterpillars we received, 8 made it. One somehow disappeared and one was killed in the chrysalid stage. If you have young kids, this kit is fun, but make sure to keep the caterpillars, chrysalis, and butterflies in a safe place. The young kids at our library were a little careless one day while one of our other librarians wasn't watching the desk and they knocked off one of the chrysalids. It was in a crucial stage right before it was to turn into a butterfly(a day or two before), so it wasn't quite ready to come out when it's cocoon was cracked. The one butterfly who had hatched already tried to help it to get out, but it never succeeded. That's why it's important with young children to keep an eye on them when they're watching the butterflies. Older kids are fine alone, though. We ordered this for my daughter's 4th birthday and it was a fantastic gift! The environment is high quality (perhaps a bit small...I'd go for the larger one next time to give the butterflies more space to soar) and easy to clean. All of our butterflies lived and actually laid eggs. We placed a lantana plant inside the cage for them to eat on and lay eggs on. It was a beautiful thing to witness. NOTE: the baby caterpillars that came from the eggs our butterflies laid, if you want to do this all again, DO NOT LIKE TO EAT lantana and they died. I'll be doing thistle, hollyhock or malva next time once they hit the big caterpillar stage. Last night I ordered my new 5 caterpillares, nutrient, manual, and new supplies *for $7*. I bought this puzzle to do with my 3 1/2 yr. old son, and we love it! I purchased this for my 4 year old son and he loved it, he is able to do the entire puzzle himself and loves the size and pictures on the puzzle, I would highly recommend it. This toy is not only good fun for my son (4 yrs), but also for me. Even my 2 yr old has started showing an interest in puzzles because of the bright, colourful pieces. It helps me relax and unwind, at the same time be doing a fun activity with my children. The puzzle pieces are thick and durable, but will not withstand being chewed upon - so if you have a dog or a younger child who likes to chew on things, it could be tricky! It takes about 20 mins for me and my son to solve the puzzle from scratch. It is definitely a challenge for my son to do it by himself - he's not yet managed that. I think upto 6 yr olds can find it challenging - it could keep them occupied for 45 mins or so.
