When I first heard of the 30th anniversary line for STAR WARS action figures I was immediatley enthralled at the fact that there would be new additions to the STAR WARS action figure line. When I deciphered what I had seen during my primal viewing of the first wave of these figures I couldn't believe it: MORE REVENGE OF THE SITH FIGURES!?! Hasbro released almost 60-80 EPISODE III figures in 2005, then they released around 10-20 in 2006 as a part of the "SAGA COLLECTION LINE", now they are releasing around 10 for 2007! WHERE DOES IT STOP! Hasbro, make us some new figure designs off of characters of the other films, for God's sake, not to say you're not doing that though. It's just that I feel that Hasbro could be doing ALOT more to please the STAR WARS COLLECTORS. For one, they could make more figures of the minor characters of the classic films(i.e. not just luke,han,leia.etc), second, they should release more figures of the other two prequels besides ROTS, and 3rd, they should be releasing ALOT more playsets than they are now. The original KENNER line had some EXCELLENT playsets. Despite what I have just written above, this figure is exceptional in articulation,price,design,colour,and items although it only is in the movie for less than 10 seconds. So overall I would give the figure in itself a 4/5. But for Hasbro's figure selection a 2/5. Keep on coming with the coins! Their hands come off and are lost and they are weak, flimsy plastic... not durable. These figures would be appropriate for a collection, something you would put on display. They can not and do not stand up to constant play. The age 4 yr suggestion is false advertising. My children own several kinds of action figure: GI Joes, The Corps, etc. These are by far the flimsiest and clearly inferior. We've never had actions figures wear down like this... even compared to the cheapo Corps stuff from Walmart! JUNK! Received the item super fast, great shipper. It's all in the paint job!) (Indiana Returns) (Keeping up with the Jones' !) (Fugley!) Okay, so for starters, I'm a huge Indy fan. I have waited a long time for an Indiana Jones action figure line with decent quality and many characters, and since I've collected Star Wars figures forever, I actually wanted them to be this 3 3/4 size too (granted, I prefer my other collectible figures to be 6 inches or so, but I don't usually get accessories orplaysets for those). Well, with the 4th Indy film, which is way underrated in my opinion (fellow longtime fans should give it a second viewing before deciding yea or nay; I had to warm up to it myself but love it now), that long dreamed of action figure line finally arrived from Hasbro... to mixed reactions. I'm sure many complaints were about the small size of the figures compared to the now more popular 6 inch or larger action figures out there for adult collectors these days. And, let's face it, most Indy fans are adults who grew up with the original films. However, I think what put most people off of this new line is that many, MANY figures were released to stores with awful paint jobs. I mean TERRIBLE paint jobs, specifically in terms of the eyes. This was most noticeable in the Raiders figures, and Indiana more than anyone. Now, in my case, I wanted to wait and make sure they made more figures, and I wanted to see if the price wouldn't go down a bit too. Figures are way overpriced these days. But, once I saw Last Crusade figures on the shelves (along with a price drop of a couple of bucks), I dived in. A few of those first figures I bought I have previously reviewed, and let me tell ya, those ones I selected had excellent face sculpts! Of course, with huge, cartoony eyes painted on some of the figures, it would sure be difficult to notice the sculpting underneath. So, combine those first bad impressions with the fact that young kids just don't seem to "get" Indy (yeah, it was the second biggest film this past year, but the toys sat on shelves till the figures hit 3 bucks recently, and they're still moving slowly with a few character exceptions), and you end up with the problem I'm having now. I have wanted a Short Round figure to stand next to my Indy figure forever (a desire carried over from my original Kenner Indy figure), and it seems those Temple figures are only going to be available online now, for those of us in the states, at outrageous scalper prices since the first couple of rounds of figures sold so poorly. And to add insult to injury, the Elsa and Colonel Vogel figures have been in extremely short supply since day one. Man, I want an Elsa! Anyways, as I searched fruitlessly for Elsa and the Temple figures this weekend at the big U.S. retailer who recently cut the price on these figures down to clearance levels, I did increase my total collection count to 14 (hope to add more before they're gone, too), and one of the main priority figures I did manage to find (though with a wee bit of difficulty) was the basic Raiders Indy figure. These were not hard to find at all before the figures went on clearance, and they even had playsets with very basic looking Indys out there. However, it was the holidays and money was tight. The other issue with this one is that big paint job issue. As I said, this is the one I saw most often with big ol' cartoon eyes, and poorly painted ones at that. However, if you check out enough of these figures, you're sure to find some that are actually painted correctly, and while the sculpt is nowhere near as good as the one for the Last Crusade and Crystal Skull Indy figures, it's more than passable considering all the detail that has gone into these figures. Seriously, these things are tight! From Indy's weathered leather jacket to his weapons and accessories, if you get one of these figures with a great paint job, you should be very pleased. They're well articulated too! I count approximately 18 points of articulation on this particular figure, and he comes with 5 accessories and a special mysterious artifact surprise (at this point, I forget which figures came with which "mystery item", but suffice to say that each character comes with something different, and they're pretty cool relics but are sized for something larger, like maybe that new 6 inch or so Indy figure at Disney World). The accessories are Indy's trusty gun and whip, his MKVII gas mask bag, an action-posed alternate whip, and the golden idol he quested after in the opening scene of Raiders of the Lost Ark. Notable features with this Indy figure are a working gun holster and the fact that his hat is not removable. Most of them don't have removable hats, but I point it out here because some do. Frankly, these are better. The ones with removable hats look silly if you put the hat on, because their hats look too big on them. They look cool holding their hats though. To sum up, this figure is really pretty sweet with lots of cool attributes, IF you make sure to check out the paint jobs and pick one that you like. I've seen the big eyes problem with the Marion figure too, and probably others. A few figures, like Marion, don't really capture good likenesses, but even those are nice figures if you get ones with decent paint jobs, and some figures just look amazing (like the Grail Knight, Indy's dad, Young Indy, and the Crystal Skull and Last Crusade Indys). But, of course, this classic Raiders Indy figure is a MUST for your collection. With the release of INDIANA JONES AND THE KINGDOM OF THE CRYSTAL SKULL, it's been nineteen years since the last Indiana Jones flick. George Lucas, Paramount, and company weren't going to let this huge event movie get away without some major merchandising, including a full line of action figures. I grew up watching the Indiana Jones films and I'm glad to own one of these action figures. This figure is the classic Indy figure from RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK. The figure harkens back to the classic action figures of the 1980s, but with more points of articulation. The only negative about the figure is the face. Even though this is a toy, the face is kind of creepy-looking when viewed straight on. If you look at the face from the side, however, he looks like Indiana Jones. Great item for any Indiana Jones fan, whether young or old. Granted the facial sculptures on these figures isn't the greatest. But, in my opinion I happen to like it that way. It gives these new Indiana Jones figures a type of nostalgic quality. This Indy figure kind of harkens back to the old Kenner toy day's of the late 70's and 80's. I like that. After all, these are just small 4" inch action figures, not sculptures or statues. If you want youre Indiana Jones figure with a perfect, dead on likeness and sculpt then buy him as a statue. These are just action figures people. I love Indiana Jones and have looked forward to a new series of figures, particularly Raiders figures. The figure has neat features and plenty of articulation, but the likeness to Harrison Ford is sorely lacking. The face looks like someone you would find living in a dumpster behind a bar. You might be better off pulling the head off of a Han Solo figure and placing it on Indy, unfortunately you would lose the trademark hat. Oh well, I am still happy to have him in my collection. "MY" doctor was Tom Baker, but I never had the ability to show my "whoness" much. I decided to pick this up and use it as a conversation piece on my desk. It gets lots of laughs. I did have problems when I first got it though. I did remove the screws on the bottom of the unit because I thought I needed to do so to remove some of the "theft prevention" items. When I did this the entire bottom fell out and pieces flew everywhere, so don't take this thing apart! "You know, you're a classic example of the inverse ratio between the size of the mouth and the size of the brain" this was a gift for my son. dr. who products are difficult to find so I grabbed this up when I saw it. If you're reading this, I think we can assume you are either a Doctor Who fan or you are shopping for someone who is. Either way, this toy is pretty much a must-have. Made in scale with the range of 5" WHO action figures, this replica of the famous time-travel ship is very impressive. A total of 8 sound effects can be heard by making the ship take off or land from a flat surface, shaking it while in "flight", or spinning it courtesy of the recessed mechanism on the bottom. Light glows from within, and the signature blue "police" light on top flashes. The doors open to reveal a painted interior. As someone else has said, the sound effects seem slightly off from the "real" thing. But they're close enough, and the take off and landing sounds are randomly generated, providing variety. In addition, the toy seems pretty sturdy (at this point, I should admit that I'm a 40 year old man. . .I'm not sure how well this TARDIS will hold up in the hands of a spirited younger person). If you can live with the hefty price tag, this is certainly a fine product. Admittedly I was skeptical of buying a toy Tardis. My kids are 3 and 5, I wasn't sure if they'd appreciate it enough. BOY was I wrong! Since we gave it to them for the holidays, they have been fighting over it ever since! Every action figure we have has flown the Tardis (usually Spiderman...) The sounds are not quite like they are on the show, but it's a TOY! Still great for a toy! When switched on, there is a light that goes on inside as well as all the windows lighting up. My kids especially like the "turbulence" sound and spinning it on the axis on the bottom. As I am writing this, the Tardis has just "materialized" next to me on the table. The quality is surprisingly good! I was impressed at how sturdy it felt. Time will tell how durable it really is, but for now it works! It does take 3 AAA batteries, which we normally don't have on hand. So if you are going to buy it, make sure to buy batteries too so your kids can play with it right away :) I can't gush enough about this toy. A must for any Doctor Who fan! This figure of the very imposing character of Wonder Woman is an adequate buy. Its a durability is questionable as well as the paint apps. Where this figure really grabs you is its fair amount of poseability which to my knowledge is probably the first of its kind excluding probably an old MEGO doll. I was also impressed with her head and hair sculpt; quality you don't usually see in a mass market toy. Her accessories are juvenile at best and would have been better suited with some other types of accessories like spears and javelines as she is an amazon but again its a "kid's toy".
