(I don't fear losing my keys now . . . I just fear losing my screwdriver)

(Sonic Screwdriver - fun idea, but...)

(Don't misplace the pen nibs)

(Fun, Silly)

(Goofy and Enjoyable)
I am a fan of the old and new Doctor Who series. The thing to keep in mind is that this is a toy, so don't expect metal parts, superb simulated sound, and such. It's plastic with batteries and a light. However, once you accept it for what it is, it's great! I love just fooling around with it. Pretending to fix people's problems with it, especially with people who have no idea what it is (confusing them like the Doctor would, and just smile and be on my way). I use it at shows and such like people would use a lighter. And if I ever need help seeing something in the dark, it does come in handy.

It's not the most durable thing, it's all plastic. The UV pen works great, but keep in mind the size of it's ink well, and it's hard to get a replacement, so use it sparingly. The sound is of course low quality, and the two sounds it makes are very hard to notice any difference (there is some if you listen to it carefully). However, it's not that loud, so it doesn't annoy people too much. The light itself is very good, but just don't point it at anyone's eyes (UV light).

Now, there is a little problem with it. When I got it, it was hard to keep the thing on. It felt like there was something keeping me from pressing the buttons down. When I opened it up to where you put the batteries, I noticed that the plastic thing holding them is right next to the 2 buttons, and that cover was sticking up on the edge when screwed on (because the pressure caused it to bed). What I did was carefully sand down that plastic with a small piece of sand paper(a nail file would work too) so it was level with the rest of the tube. Then I had no problems with it. Don't know if it was only mine, but it's an easy adjustment.

All in all for this low priced toy, I love it. Just don't expect too much, and you will love it too.

Got this as a gift for my husband, not as a child's toy. It has sat in the box since. It looks and feels very cheap, I'm not exactly strong&it felt like about to break when I tried to manipulate it so would probably not last long at all with a child. I see I've put 3 stars for durability by mistake&it won't let me edit. We haven't bothered to try to use it except for a couple of minutes on opening so I can't speak to durability but I don't expect much from the cheap flimsy feel of it! The sound effect is just a very weak buzz, we both said "that was it??" It's not even nice to use as a pen. It may end up on eBay but the buyer would probably want his money back! I'd say it's one of those things that seems like a fun idea but very disappointing in its execution&don't waste your money!
When you install the batteries it requires the use of a small phillips head screwdriver... So you need a regular screwdriver to make your Sonic Screwdriver work. (And while I was doing this, I actually was thinking to myself, "Hmmm, this really could be more sonic!")

I've had this thing for about a year now, I use the regular pen nib quite often and it's currently not showing signs of running out of ink. The nib with the UV ink, unfortunately was lost.

That is the biggest issue I have with the item. The instruction pamphlet that comes with it says that you can order replacement nibs from customer service. You can not currently just order replacement nibs from Amazon, nor are they currently listed in the "Spare Parts" section of the Character-Online customer service website. (Though there are spare Dalek parts which is kind of awesome.) You have to call the company's customer service department which is in the UK. So unless you want to call long distance and pay shipping from the UK for pen nibs? Do not loose them. (This may change, I hope it does.)

Onto the good stuff!

I really love owning this thing. A few days ago I had a blackout at night and (due to a recent move) I couldn't find my flashlight, but I was using this thing to make some notes. So I used it to find my keys and my wallet to go out and buy a proper flashlight and some candles. Doing that was more fun then I should probably admit in a public forum. Secondly, the UV ink is tangentially educational. Your child likes Doctor Who, you get them this pen, they write secret messages on the psychic paper and say "Cool! How does that work?" They then become interested in what UV light is, learn all sorts interesting stuff about wavelengths and "Yay! Science if fun!"

If you're a cosplayer through, that's not really your concern. From close up and far away it looks good, it has the right moving parts, lights up and makes the noise. It comes with batteries. I don't know what more you could ask for.

Just don't misplace the pen nibs.

If you're a Doctor Who fan, this is standard equipment. This little sonic screwdriver looks and sounds just like the one featured on the episodes. Makes for a fun drinking game.
The husband may scoff, and no, it does not seem like the most sturdy thing ever made, but I cannot stop smiling whenever I use this. I'm not too sure about getting refills and such, or if it would even be truly worth it to bother. That's not really the point though, is it? Now, if you'll excuse me, it's late at night and I have a lot of cabinets to put up...
Let the Doctor help you get all of your home and office repairs done with this Electronic Sonic Screwdriver! The Doctor's handy-dandy sonic screwdriver is the epitome of multifunctional gizmos. Whether it's driving a screw, picking a lock, or disabling an opponent, this amazing implement seems to exhibit the precise capability required by its owner at the time. Now this marvelous gadget can be yours! The sonic screwdriver measures 8-inches tall x 1-inch wide. This Doctor Who Electronic Sonic Screwdriver Replica features button-activated light and sound effects. It includes a hidden ultraviolet pen and UV light that reveals your secret writing, as well as a spare standard ink nib and a wallet with wipe-on, wipe-off "psychic" paper. Look who's Doctor Who now! Requires 3x "AG13" button-cell batteries, included. The sonic screwdriver is a fictional tool in the British sci-fi television series Doctor Who. Its most common function is to operate virtually any lock, mechanical or electronic, and thus open doors for escape or exploration. It has also been used for repairing equipment, as an offensive weapon, and occasionally even to drive screws. Like the TARDIS, it has become one of the icons of the program and is closely associated with the Doctor.

(Wall-e U command)

(Not as Much as I hoped)

(CHEAPER AT DISNEY.COM!!)

(e walli)

(very cute and fun!!)
This is a very fun toy and my 8yr. old grandson just loves it!This is the best Wall-e toy for the money!Enjoy!
I loooove the WALL-E movie and was really looking forward to the "programmable" quality to this toy. A few disappointments, though:
I've yet to hear him say "WALL-E" or "TA-DA!" (He does say "EV-A");
You can't really pick what he's going to say or pick his "expressions" (one command button for all voice options, one command button for all eye expressions, etc.);
His dance is not even to the song from the movie;
His arms and head movements cannot be remote controlled; He does not move backward and only turns one direction. He's a bit difficult to control (and, yes, tips over easily).
I guess, being of the Star Wars toy generation, I just expected more control, more ease and more connection to the movie (I had a great remote-controlled R2-D2 as a kid.)
Had I known all this, I probably would've chosen the U-Dance WALL-E or U-Interact WALL-E instead.

I just purchased this exact same toy, U Command Wall-E, from the Disney Store online for 65 bucks. I don't understand why it's selling so high on Amazon! After shipping and tax, my purchase was $79.

Buy the toy, but not from here!

the first one we received broke within 2 hrs
Company exchanged it very quickly and my grandson love it

This toy is very fun to play with. I really enjoy the voice that is on the toy, it is Wall-E's real voice. I also enjoy all the different things that he can do, the dancing is one of my favorites. I am very satisfied with my purchase and recommend it to any Wall-E lover of any age!!
This U Command Wall-E is a programmable remote control with 1000 and more action combos. It features with realistic expressions, light-up eyes, original movie voice and sound effects. You can send an instant order or preprogrammed action sequence to Wall E via the wireless remote control and it¿ll carry out your command.

(Good Overall)
My 5yr old son LOVED the movie, so this action figure is a lot of fun for him to play with. However, I wish that the manufacturer had made it easier for the character to stand/sit on the glider. We've already lost the little attachment piece that allows the character to stand on the glider and this character will not stand on his own. Otherwise he's a sturdy action figure, despite the tentacles are thin plastic. None of the tentacles have broke, yet. I wouldn't let a younger child play with it, cause you wouldn't want this stuff in the mouth.

 Diamond Select Toys(2009-06-25)

customer 's review
(I really wanted to like this but...)

(The Wait Is Over!)
...mine was very poorly assembled and painted. The main faceplate with the screen in it sits at a cockeyed angle so the lid barely closes. There are lots of scratches and blobs in the silver paint and there are silver paint smudges on the black sections. The whole thing feels flimsy. On top of that the voice samples are sped up and sound like one of the chipmunks. Where's the QC AA? The phaser and communicator I bought were great. This one not so much. I know these are inexpensive in comparison to the Master Replicas models but they're not cheap. I expected them to at least be assembled correctly.

On the plus side, the basic design is sound. If only they'd been put together with a little more care.

There comes a time in every fan's life when they realize they really are a geek. My time has come. I admit it, that's me! I tracked the shipment online. I opened the packaging like a little kid. And behold, the holy grail of props, the one almost impossible to acquire (on any reasonable budget) - the TOS Tricorder!

I like what Diamond Select is doing with their toys. These are as close to original as can be made cheaply. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying they are cheaply made but that they can be had for under $40. It's full scale (as opposed to the last mass-produced Tricorder which was MAYBE 3/4 scale). Of course, with any toy there are tiny imperfections (Nomad would hate that!). Mine arrived with a few smudges and scratches. The voice samples are likely going to be left largely unplayed (at least by me). I want reel (spelling intentional) sounds, not kitschy dialog. (There is a switch inside the battery compartment you have to throw in order to get anything other than the voice of Spock saying the same thing repeatedly.) The main panel isn't exactly accurate but it's close. You can plainly see screws on the real props but I can understand omitting them in the toy. (Interestingly, the packaging shows the screws. In fact, the pictures on the packaging aren't even of the toy. They must be of a prototype. That's metal in the pictures. This toy is all plastic.) The strap is adjustable! That's a nice touch indeed. The Moire pattern actually turns! (Sweet.) I don't remember a science scanner but I'm sure it was probably there. I wish the memory disks came out. I don't think the battery cover that is shaped like more memory disks is terribly accurate. It probably should've been shaped like electronic components but who cares. It's a Tricorder! And it's mine! Buwaha-ha-ha!!! (Sorry.)

I'm not the stereotypical Star Trek fan in that I'm married with kids (they knew I was a geek before I could admit it). But I'm the demographic this toy is aimed at and for me, this is a solid purchase. I will no doubt even order the medical tricorder as well, just to have the set (and Dr. McCoy's little scanner). I highly recommend this toy.

(Let the accurizing projects begin! I may even try to put a digital picture frame in the place of the view screen if I can find one the right size.)

And if the nice folks at Diamond Select Toys are listening...Dr. McCoy's hypo-spray and med kit would be good, and how about the comlock and laser pistol from Space:1999? You guys ROCK!

After the runaway success of Star Trek's classic-era Phaser and Communicator, boldly go where no man has gone before with this authentic Tricorder role-play replica. Based on the classic 23rd century design, the electronic Tricorder features silver highlights over a black finish, as well as light and sound effects taken from the classic Star Trek series. Also included is the removable scanner accessory perfect for your next Away Mission.

Once transformed, it becomes a very large robot (compared to all the other deluxe transformers). The only let-down is that the head doesn't turn around (just forwards-backwards), but it is very movie-accurate.

I needed to read the leaflet so i could understand how to transform it. Once you transform it, you'll understand. My daughter likes it, even when the character curses a lot. :)

AUTOBOT WHEELIE never really wanted to be a DECEPTICON. Itâs just that, when people start yelling at him, he tends to do whatever they say. Heâs easily startled, and simple to scare. His tiny size makes him an ideal spy, and even though he doesnât like or agree with the DECEPTICONS, they scare him so much he doesnât know what to do except obey Get ready to roll out with this AUTOBOT double dealer! This detailed AUTOBOT WHEELIE figure features an insignia that changes from AUTOBOT to DECEPTICON symbolâdepending on which forces heâs working for! Convert him to a rough-and-tumble RC truck in vehicle mode. The battle is on and this little warrioris readyâare you?

(Fun Toy even for a grown up)

(Interaction Wall-E, cute)

(NOT a robot and NOT really built for kids and real play)

(Wall-E)

(Fun, but needs Eva)
I am a fifty year old guy who collects robots...and this is a great robot to collect. From a fine movie, and quite entertaining. Even the guests enjoy it when they come over. If a collector, or a kid, I recommend it.
I love all the Wall-E toys, this one is just as cute as the others. This one interacts with Interaction Eve. They kind of talk to each other and interact to the other one's voice. We enjoy playing with them.
My son loves Wall-E and really wanted this toy, but be warned -- it is an "action figure" not a robot, meaning that your child will have to move it around and make it do stuff. All it does on its own is wave its arms and make a few noises. Still, my son enjoys playing with it.
My main problems with it is that it is not constructed for real world play. Within a week of getting it, Wall-E's "head" had snapped off its stalk. The wires were servered, so his eyes no longer light up. I was able to duct tape the head back on, but now Wall-E does even less than before. I think the manufacturer could have easily reinforced the neck assembly with some metal brackets to make it sturdier. Anyone who has kids could have told them that this was a weak point.
Given that these toys are expensive but not durable, if your child likes Wall-E you might be better off buying the cheapest version of the Wall-E action figures and skipping all the bells and whistles. Your kid's imagination can supply all the rest.

I'm not sure that this toy is all its cracked up to be. I didn't notice a lot of interaction. However, my grandson only got it yesterday for his birthday so I haven't had much time to evaluate it
Wall-e is a clever interactive robot, but really needs Eva to do most of the interactions. It doesn't come with directions to let you know what he can do, so it's tough for the child to figure out what he can do on his own. The neck is pretty fragile so you need to instruct little boys to be careful. Yeah, right. However, he does look at you when you call his name. He needs to be pushed along to move, and apparently dances and shirks to loud noises. We haven't figured out how to get him to do that yet. Perhaps if we had Eva he'd be more fun, but that means investing another $55 in a toy. It's become an expensive imagination builder, that's for sure.
Interaction Wall-E comes with light-up eyes, moving head/arms, original movie voice and sound effects. It will respond when you talk to it, push it along or press a button. Also it will react to Interaction Eve. The Wall-E and Eve are sold separately. This will respond to loud noises.
