Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (Another great Lego set) 『In a house with three boys, Lego's are always popular, add Star Wars theme, and how could it get any better? My boys instantly followed the directions, and put it together over the course of the afternoon. Great addition to any Lego collection.』
(Great model!!!) 『My son loved getting this toy and building it. His older brother helped and it was good for both of them to share some special time. The only problem is taht we loose Legos all the time. Other than that, I am happy they are both playing with them.』
(Complicated but Fun) 『I got this as "The Big One" for my 6 year old son's Christmas. I was a bit concerned he was a bit below the age bracket, but he had good success with some of the smaller sets so I figured he had worked up to it. Neither of us were disappointed with the purchase or imagined it would take that long to build.
Overview This was the first major Lego set (600+ pieces) I've built since I was a kid in the 80's. Things have changed quite a bit. The best way to think of this set is not a collection of bricks to let your imagination run wild with. It is a model that has some rebuilding potential, can be played with and is more easily repaired when it breaks.
Packing - Perhaps my biggest gripe about the set is the way it's packed. All the parts are in several bags grouped by some unknown criteria. Steps required different parts from different bags. The worst part is that parts of the figures are spread among different bags (why??) so life got more interesting when my son rips apart all the bags looking for Mace Windu parts. End all the parts go dumped into the box in one big slurry.
Instructions - Perhaps my biggest complement is that these were by far the best instructions I've ever seen with a Lego set. They were two 40+ page books. No way you'd build it without them. The best thing was that at the beginning of each step they listed the parts to be used in that step. The pacing of the instructions was good so that you didn't miss parts in a step. They were clear enough so that my 6 year old could follow them without too much assistance.
Build - This was a complicated build. There are several sub-assemblies that have to be build and then integrated into the larger unit. You have the main body, the top launcher, the cockpit and the wings. The function of many things is not obvious when you start building it and things can get easily turned around. When building it I would hunt for the parts for the next step in the slurry pool, then my son would do the actual building. He needed a bit of help with the steps surrounding the long and short rods that had to be threaded through other parts (often requiring higher finger strength) but aside from that it was kid friendly enough for him to complete 95%+ of the building. Its not something I would turn a younger kid loose on without help though. The total build time on this project was about 8 hours. Amazingly enough it kept him focused that he worked on it for 6 hours straight one day and 2 hours the next.
Durability - It's a Lego and not really a "toy". It's not meant for heavy duty play. He's had quite a few battles with it and it's stayed more or less intact. There were some predictable problems with the wings coming off (highest load) and other large flat areas that see a lot of pressure. It seems to be holding up as well as I could hope given its size and complexity. It seems to be durable enough that when you carry it and use the "features" it doesn't break too often, to me that's kind of the minimum standard.
Features - Lots of cool stuff. The front cockpit opens in a clamshell fashion, seats 2 figures. The entire cockpit is easy to snap on/off for emergency ejections and the effects of accurate gunfire.
The top of the ship has a missile rack with a strip fed clip of missiles. There is a push rod in the back that launches them. It relies on the inherent tension of the missiles against the strip to store the energy before they go flying out. Range, about 1-2 feet sitting on the ground. This section occasionally comes off but is easy to put back on.
The back section of the ship is hinged at the back and opens up for the "cargo bay" which can hold several figures. He has a lot of fun with this. The hinge mechanism is pretty good, no disasters yet. There are two flip locks on the front that hold it securely for when it moves around.
It has two bomb bays which drop bombs. 4 bombs total, there is a clip in the bomb bay that holds one of the bombs back so when you open it not all the bombs fall out. There is a knob on the back that works the bomb bays. The bomb bay covers (which rotate up and down) are an area of relative weakness that occasionally need patching.
The wings move up and down, each has about 120 degree's of rotation. Their rotation limit comes from a locking pin which is easy to get in the wrong place but can be corrected. The wings tend to break off at the root from time to time but are easily put back on. Considering taking some other pieces and reinforcing them.
Fun My son has had a lot of fun with this, probably more fun than all the other gifts he got. The styling is cool, the colors nice and it meshes well with his other Star Wars sets. He seems to enjoy launching the missiles and opening the back and messing around in there. There is a hole in the bottom (for the missile clip for flow through) that offers all sorts of imaginative possibilities. It was well worth the price.
Parts At least 80% of the parts in this set are specialized, meaning you won't find comparable parts in general sets (maybe other spaceship sets). If you loose a part your going to be in a world of hurt. This made me rather nervous as we neared the end and the part slurry pool was kind of thin. But the parts were all there and we had success. If this set ever gets broken down and mixed with your general part pool you can pretty much forget about reconstructing it, way too many parts that are very small. It would take hours to try and find all the parts, many of which will have naturally escaped into unknown places around the house. On the flip side there are a lot of really cool parts here to incorporate into other space ship projects. If I had half those parts when I was a kid some super cool creations would have been mine..
So to Recap Pro's - Excellent Instruction Good Styling Good features
Cons Complicated Specialized and small parts that are disorganized.
Conclusion If your kid has the focus and aptitude to build a complex model (or you have the focus and aptitude to build it with them) this is an excellent kit. Lots of playability features with acceptable (not great) durability. A good buy and lots of fun. 』
(Cool set to have) 『Not a big fan of Star Wars but a big fan of LEGO. Great building techniques in this set. Happy with my purchase.』
(Lego Star Wars continues to create great models) 『My 8 year old son loves this toy. It's launcher on top with drop loading magazine works very well.』 『Unleash the explosive power of the Republic Attack ShuttleTM! Packed with massive firepower, the Republic attack shuttle sweeps down over the Separatist droid army and unleashes its auto-firing flick missiles and dropping bombs on the enemy! When the smoke clears, it folds its wings and converts to landing mode to drop off Jedi Master Mace WinduTM and his clone troopers to finish the mission.』

Although I will say they are of great enjoyment to my son and I in building, they always feel pointless in the end, especially when you look at the price tags the better sets command. I guess if you're some over compensating person who has enough room for a multitude of built lego sets to be displayed then I could see the investments, although I would feel a little sorry for you. In reality kids like to play with things, and in the case of Boys, play with things rather roughly, and many of the Lego sets are fragile at best. Yes my son spouts happiness's upon gazing at a new lego set but inevitably the set gets broken down to its most basic form and becomes another box of blocks added to the tub that's full of more colors than a San Francisco parade. All I got to say is when your elbow deep in tub full of legos looking for a single square black you'll be wondering the same things, now I'm off to build an 1,150 piece super semi-truck thing my son got from Grandpa for Christmas, goodbye day off, THANKS DAD!』
(GREAT LOOKING!) 『Another fine looking plane from Lego. Great design. Easy build but looks awesome. Comes with 4 mini-figures, a nice gas truck and a hidden compartment between the front and rear cockpits. Highly recommended for any Indiana Jones lego collector.
Note:Small point-on the left and right of the wings are these hinges that hold the flaps. Could use another piece to secure tighter plus the 'ark' is not included. Also, the front landing gear can come off while playing. No biggie but make sure to secure it tight. There's also a crate with some gems but not the ark itself. Would've been nice to have had a detailed ark and or closed box that closer to the movie one. But you can substitute the ark from another Indiana Jones set here. 』
(Nice model... not overly complicated for little kids.) 『I picked this up for my 7 year old son for his birthday. He was able to assemble the kit without assistance, except for the stickers which I helped him with. I'm a plane buff, so I'm glad he picked out this model. The Plane is based on the Horton HO 229, which was a jet developed by the Nazi's toward the end of WWII. The plane is modified to match the one that appears in the Indiana Jones movie... with propellers instead of jets. The wing is one large piece with 2 winglets added on to the wingtips. This makes it very sturdy for play. The large stickers used for camouflage would be a little difficult for a kid to apply, end I had a little trouble getting one in the right position... just be careful and take your time. It's a great model, from a classic scene of a great movie!』 『German soldiers have captured the Ark and are about to fly it away. It¿s up to Indiana Jones and Marion to board the experimental Flying Wing aircraft and keep it from taking off. While Marion tackles the pilot, Indy fights the mighty mechanic ¿ just watch out for that leaking fuel truck nearby.』

Yes, you do have to buy more than 1 set to make different aliens, but my son will play with these for hours and loves making all kinds of different aliens. Very durable, and easy for him to put together.』
(Lego really missed the ball with this one!) 『My son is the hugest Ben 10 fan ever. He has the creation chamber figures and plays with them on a daily basis. He just puts them together himself (the chamber was a waste of money but the figures can be done by hand and are a complete blast!)
The reason I say the above is because these are sort of similar but with less functionality. These are action figures made by Lego that have a few pieces to put together. Like a Duplo set. So from that point of view they are quite a disappointment given the cost. Although they are not the most expensive action figure out there.
The reason I gave it two stars is that you put several of the sets together to make a new creature but that means you have to buy multiple sets. Although my son seems to love this I'm not too keen on the overall cost. I think it would be cheaper to just buy him more of the creation chamber figures although they are so small. Given that these Lego sets are more a 2 second project than a 2 hour project and they are ONLY the characters I am actually very bummed! Can you imagine how cool it would be to have a playset with Kevin's car and Grandpa's RV and little Lego alien creatures that you could form all sorts of different ways? Think of the possibilities! How cute would little Gwen be?
Even my son has expressed he is sad that they had to do these toys and not really get creative. From a money point of view this is very short sighted of Lego as well--do you know how much money I spent on ALL the Harry Potter Lego's? Hundreds of dollars and we had fun for years with them! One of the best investments in Lego product's I've made--even helped spur my son to reading Harry Potter and not just watching the movies.
I bought two and I'm not buying anymore. Just not worth it!
Bluntly this toy is extremely limited. If you lose a piece that's it..no kid wants a Jet Ray without his wings or whatever. Although I predict that these won't do too badly as there really aren't that many Ben 10 toys the potential was for so much more. So much more.
』
(Not really a Lego set) 『My son is a big Ben 10 fan, and I happened to see this one at a local toy store just before Xmas and got one. My son loves it, but just be clear that this is not really a Lego building set in the classic sense - it only has 20 body part pieces that snap together, my son (5 years old) put it together in about 20 seconds. It does not look like it will connect well with traditional Lego bricks, it is really more of a poseable action figure. The exception may be that you can probably interchange body parts with other sets in the Ben 10 line, although we have not tested this. SO, if you are a big Ben 10 fan you will probably like this, but don't purchase thinking you are going to get a 'real' Lego building set.』 『In Ben 10 Alien Force, transforming into the size-changing and immensely powerful Humungousaur gives Ben the ability to overwhelm adversaries and take battle to a whole new level. Buildable by kids aged 5+. Based on popular Ben 10 Alien Force story where 10-year old Ben Tennyson discovers a mysterious device which gives him the power to transform into different alien heroes.』
Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (Great Lego Model for $50) 『I spent $50 on this a year ago and it's well worth it. It challenged my 5 year old who is, I would say, a master builder for his age. It's delicate when fully assembled and isn't really a model you can play with. But it is so cool on a shelf with the rescue buoy hanging down underneath. And what boy doesn't like helicopters. I got to tell you though, I don't think it's worth $80.』
(my favorite lego set) 『The lego coast guard helicopter is my favorite lego set I own. It has all this cool stuff. There is a self wind string and a hook. You just hold a button and the string and the hook on it winds up. It has four mini figures, one shark and one coast guard boat. And it was much bigger than I thought it would be. It has two seats and one stretcher. Overall it has good money value. The play value is good too.』
(Fun to Build but Not to Handle) 『My son is a few month away from being nine. He purchased this with his own money so it was a big deal with lots of Lego looking. He had fun building it but said that during the building process, pressing down on the Legos often led to part of the assembly snapping off, causing many re-builds. In the words of the Wicked Witch of the West "These things have to be handled delicately." Once finished, my son really likes to play and pretend with his Lego toys. They look very realistic and are just begging to be taken off display and actually put to use. The side doors on the helicopter break off almost every time he opens them, but he patiently reconstructs it again and again. The little raft is solid. The winch works great. Overall it was a good buy...it wasn't my money. Like other Lego sets we own, and we own many, they are much more fun to build then they are to use as imaginative toys once built.』
(MOM OF A LEGO LOVER) 『MY SON JUST LOVES LEGO'S NO MATTER WHAT IT IS AND HE ALSO LOVES THIS ONE SO I WOULD RECOMMEND THIS TO ANY LEGO LOVER, YOUNG AND OLD.』
(Coast Guard Chopper to the Rescue!) 『Great set. Santa found it on sale at for about half this price. The lucky 8 year old boy who received it put it together in a little over two hours by himself on Christmas day. He said the directions were a little confusing and he had to take a few pieces off and relocate them during construction. However he was thrilled with the final result and was happy to see the winch action on the chopper to pull in the guys from the life raft below. This is a great way for kids to learn how objects are assembled and develops great spatial-relationships for kids of all ages. Nice to have a life raft to further the play action/building time. By constructing this toy, he also had more questions about the Coast Guard, which gave us teachable moments when we went to see relatives who live by Lake Erie.』 『Boaters are lost at sea -- it's time to send out the Coast Guard helicopter! When you spot them, lower the self-winding winch, hoist the emergency life raft, and carry it back to shore. Better hurry -- that shark looks hungry! Sides on lift raft open and close. Helicopter's propeller and rotor really spin. Open the sides of the helicopter to access the stretcher and equipment. Lower the winch, hook on to the life raft, and press the button to raise it up. Helicopter is on wheels. Set includes helicopter, life raft, four minifigures and shark. Measures 13" long. 445 pieces.』
Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (Lego Mini Figure Expensive) 『In my opinion this figure was a huge waste of money. I bought it because it was what my son wanted as part of his Christmas, but I wouldn't do it again. It easily comes apart yet hard to keep the light saber in the hand.』
(Rip Off) 『I paid almost $20 for a 2" tall plastic piece on nonsense and IT WASNT EVEN PACKAGED! I was embarrassed to give it as a gift.』
(lego darth maul) 『The item arrived immediately, neatly packaged for protection. It was as explained and I recommend this seller to all potential buyers. I could not believe how quickly the entire transaction took.』 『A great addition to your Star Wars LEGO Figure Collection.』

Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (Very handy) 『Our son bought these, he likes them, but they are a little flimsy. They havnt broken. But if you want to build on carpet you will have to back them with something, we used 1/4 ply. Otherwise when you press on them, they bend, and the buildings fall down. But on his desk top they work great..it just depends on where your child intends to use them.』
(Lego Base Plates are a MUST!) 『My so,like a lot of 9-year-old boys, is superbly creative with his Legos. He sets up various scenarios with his minifigures, buildings and vehicles including many from the Star Wars collection. Often these scenarios are set up on the living room floor. When it is time to vaccuum or for company to come, moving his groupings is tedious work. With base plates, he can pick up a whole scene at once and move it to another room without getting upset. He can use blue for water and green for land, gray for road. We love Legos and base plates are a must!』
(Does what it should...) 『Not exciting to open on your birthday, but the perfect base for all of a kid's lego adventures. A little flimsy, but -- so far so good.』
(Product is good, vendor not so much) 『I bought this product because I've got a few Lego models that I wanted to put on a better display. The plates work fine, though they are thinner than the ones I used when I was younger (these plates actually bend a little if you pick them up by the corner). They are about 1/6 of a standard block thick, but it's fine if you leave them on another surface.
If you are going to buy here though, be careful. It took a few weeks for the company to ship the product and I never received anything from them indicating why the delay occurred. I did get an Email from Amazon indicating the vendor had not transferred the order yet after about 5 days, but it still took a while to get the items.
I would buy another of these products, just not from this particular vendor (I would buy direct from Lego.com and get the product faster enxt time).』

(One of the top lego sets) 『All three of the models in this creator set are great. Very detailed rotary engine on plane. Lots of moving/action parts. Assemble easily for my 4 year old with just a little help. This is probably the best lego set my son or I have ever owned out of 20 or 25. I can see this getting a lot of use for years. The only drawbacks are guns on the jet and the tires strech and come loose more than other lego wheels I've used. Still a great Lego buy.』
(My 7 year old loves this) 『My son bought this with his own money after seeing it advertised on the lego website. He has built the two planes and the helicopter. He loves the fold out landing gear and has fun making his own "modifications." The first plane he built took several hours and he has been playing with this set daily for the past two weeks. I would highly recommend this for any lego lover.』
(Excellent for bonding with young one) 『This is an excellent Lego product. It actually has the full instructions for all 3 models shown. The pieces fit together perfectly, and I'm having a great time with my 5 year old showing him how to read the instructions and put the pieces together. He is now strong enough to squeeze them together, and dextrous enough to do it without smashing everything. An excellent value for $20.』
(BUY THIS!) 『Any 8 year old kid would LOVE this item. Mine are nuts about their Lego 3-in-1 sets. Durable, fun, and inexpensive. GO for it!』 『3 in 1! Propeller plane has an 11" (27cm) wingspan and is over 9" (22cm) long!』
Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (Just basics but Wonderful) 『This is an essential to any lego collection, it contains the basics needed to build just about any structure. I am very satisfied with this purchase and with this company.』
(Awesome set, but slightly lacking) 『I bought these for my fiance for Christmas. He's 23 but LOVES legos. His only complaint was that there weren't enough of the longer yellow pieces. I guess you can't have it all, though. Overall a really good choice. We had lots of fun building with them. They're a good way to make you feel like a kid again.』
(Great Starter Block Set) 『I grew up playing with Legos and once my son turned 3 1/2 and started to out grow the Duplos, I gave him my Legos. The problems is my Legos lacked alot of the bigger blocks 2X4, 2X6 and 2X8s. I purchased, well actually Santa purchased, this one to grow his basic block set. This is the best one sold on Amazon as it throws in the useful sized blocks. Other large sets have a lot of 1X1 useless blocks. The smallest block you will get in this set is a 2X2 block. Plenty of 2x3 and 2X4 blocks in this set. This is a great set to start your kids off with basic Legos. Note that this set is only a block set. If you want wheels and people, you need look a different set. I will most likely purchase another set of these for his birthday.』
(disappointed in size of pieces and ability to stick together) 『I think that websites should list the size of the pieces as I was looking for bigger pieces. The small pieces need to have larger posts so that when you make structures they stay together. Please notify the manuafacturer of this. Thank you.』
(Too small) 『The picture makes it look like this is a huge pile of legos. It's not. It's a small pile of legos. I'm not happy with the purchase.
