He's really into robots and Legos so we thought this would be a perfect combination. As a 27-year-old, I think I ended up having more fun helping my cousin build the robot than he did. The Lego pieces allow the limbs of the robot to have a nearly 360 degree range of motion. Some of the pieces have this rubbery portion that's very bendable; I never had those sorts of pieces in my Lego sets when I was a kid so I thought that was pretty awesome. The design would have to change in order for a second person to fit.

I don't know why they need to charge as much as they do for little pieces of plastic that come off molds by the trillions and billions. For so long they have had a racket and it is about time a company came out with a comparable product. Are these Legos? No. The difference? The plastic seems lighter and not as durable...HOWEVER I have never had one get broken by my 4 year old twins and they leave them all over the floor in every room. I have NEVER had blocks not fit together. The instructions do leave a little to be desired but my kids have never had a problem having fun and putting things together. I find the complaints to be a bit petty and unfounded. These blocks are definitely, 100% worth the money, especially if your kids are like mine and lose half the pieces! We have both Legos and Best-Locks and my children can't tell or don't care what the difference is, they use both sets interchangeably and have never complained about them.』

The quality of this set leaves something to be desired when compared with real Legos. The pieces must not go through any sort of quality control process since some of them don't actually fit together. Due to the same poor production standards once you have the toys together they fall apart pretty easily. We had pieces missing out of the kit, as well. I cannot recommend this toy to anyone regardless of price point.』
(Good idea, poor execution) 『I got a couple of these sets for my son, who wanted some military-style sets. As the other reviewer said, the quality is perhaps half what you get with true Lego. Some bricks are a little warped, making it very hard to fit tightly. Other bricks "pop off" because of similar molding issues. Ultimately, we used the instructions to build Lego models from the bricks we already own, and the blocks from this set ended up in the trash. Wish they were better quality since the sets have the vehicles a lot of little boys want to build.

He then played with it the remainder of his visit with me and I am sure continues to do so. It stayed together amazingly well during his play activities, occasionally a small piece would fall off and require redoing and the radio antennas fell off constantly but he didn't seem to mind. It was a hit and I was so happy he enjoyed it.』
I just want to say this set is awesome! I will give you the pros and cons:
PROS: The set has 592 pieces and took me about an hour-and-a-half to build. I just turned 9.
This set has a really cool design. It's got 6 hidden flick-fire missiles on the wings. It has real skinny wheels on the bottom to make good hover action. The engine location in front of the cockpit is great and the cover is awesome, although the engine is not too detailed. The side guns are very well detailed and seem powerful. There is one gun compartment on each wing. To get the turret guy up you open the back hatch and he will pop up out of the turret. There is room in the cockpit for another guy so I put in a gunner. The top comes up to put a guy in. The set is very well detailed.
CONS: First of all, the engine isn't very detailed. Second, the antennas fall off easily. The turret guns are very fragile and the big side guns will come off easily also.
But overall, even though it doesn't have too many minifigs, this is a very good set.
PS: The cockpit windows look like sinister eyes and the engine cover looks like a snout - very cool! 』
(Best Lego Tank) 『Just an excellent Star Wars tank from Lego. So many little features, nicely designed and is just great to play with. PRO's- Overall design, front section opens to reveal the tank's engine, two compartments on either side for gun/weapon/accessory storage, hidden flick fire missiles (6 of 'em), 2 large guns(left and right)that rotate up and down, machine gun up top that moves left/right/up and down, very neat feature-when you open the back door hatch it'll release the commander's chair inside so he pops out of the top hatch (in seated position), entire top section opens up to reveal inside cabin with another chair for driver, wheels on bottom hidden to simulate hover effect(works pretty well) and comes with 2 Clone troopers (one with commander accessories).
CON's-Small quibbles but the top hatch when closed doesn't have flush, level close (no biggie) and the top machine gun can come off but again, while building and playing always press and secure the bricks so you'll loads of fun with this tank. I recommend it. Very nicely designed and full of fun!』

(Very Cool Robot) 『Very cool new Robot from Lego. Excellent retro design. Seems very 1950's sci-fi with the feel of a James Bond-esque villian. Excellent for kids to build and play with (if child is around 4,5 or 6, help them with the build). And it's very poseable. Also there's so many extra's in this set with figures and vehicles. Just excellent.
PRO's-Robot design, right hand rotating claw (which can hold the mini-figures in its grasp), left hand with a great idea from lego: a light up brick that attaches to the left arm to light up a 'flame thrower' type weapon (excellent idea). Villian sits in the bubble headed top of the robot, which can be opened and the villian can eject and escape via a small escape pod/craft. Torso of Robot can also be detached from legs and used as an escape vehicle. You also get a Lego Agents jump jet plane with 2 flick fire missiles, a 4 wheeler vehicle, 2 lego agents (Chase and Trace), 3 civilians (one with a camera) and the villianous Dr. Inferno (I think that's his name) with a rubber head-dress design and brush metal right arm/claw. The 4-wheeler has a rope (string is strong) attached to a wench on the back end with a hook.
CON's-Really none except the 4-wheeler could be slightly better designed (perhaps a more detailed vehicle and could use a 'crank' or lever to help pull the rope/string-but you can do this with your thumb anyways). Also mid-torso area doesn't completely rotate 360 degrees. It goes all the way right and all the way left but to completely rotate 360 it touches/taps part of some bricks and makes them separate if done too hard. Lego should've just added a small center piece to lift torso slightly so it rotates smooth.
Other than my above 'CON' suggestions, this is an excellent toy/model from Lego. I HIGHLY recommend it to new and old lego collectors and especially for young kids to play with. A Robot, 2 vehicles (4 if you count in the escape pods from the Robot) and 6 mini-figures. Unfortunately if you don't have spare Lego technic pieces and don't quite know how to apply the motor to create a functioning machine, than it can be a let down. I got this for my six year old son who can mostly do every Star Wars Lego kit he's come across by himself. One of the recent ones was the motorized AT-AT #10178 which has the same motor and battery pack. From that kit we both got an introduction on how this motor could be applied.
I got this Power kit knowing I'd likely have to put something together for him. You'll gain a greater appreciation for what your car's transmission does after playing with this kit. I used the following two Lego sets that we already had to put together a functioning car:
1. Lego Crazyaction Contraptions. This is more of a book with a small collection of gears and technic pieces you can build hand and rubber band powered machines with.
2. Lego Creator Cool Convertible #4993. Fortunately my son had recently crashed this car so that only the chassis was left intact with the axles and wheels.
By tinkering around I was able to mount the engine and battery pack onto the chassis. By playing around with different sized gears I was able to get that engine to drive the wheels. My son and I loved watching our electric car run for the first time. He took over and mounted the lights and a stick shift. You can than build a custom body over your engine and chassis. Next project is trying to figure out how to build a two speed transmission. So you can see how fun and education this power kit can be if you have the right parts to go with it. If you have a lego store nearby, than check to see if they have loose technic pieces available. We just went to legoland and I scooped a bag full of gears and other hard to find loose parts for only $8. For the price this really is a 5 star kit.』

(Hard to connect to anything) 『The idea of a power functions kit is wonderful. My son was really excited to get this. But it was pretty disappointing because of the very few options on the motor to connect it to anything he built. It really made it hard to use. After using the Mindstorm kits, we really expected better of this. As it is, it could have been cool but is rarely used.』
(Mediocre To Me.) 『I bought this Lego Power Function Accessory set from Amazon in Aug'09 for my 7 year old son. Like most kids my son loves Legos. He took a Lego class over the summer where they learned to build with motors and gears so I've been adding those types of Legos to his collection in case he wants to be a budding engineer. There didn't seem to be alot of motor options for purchase so I ended up buying this set.
In a nutshell, my son did like this Accessory set until it the motor stopped working 4 days after purchase. Not sure why the motor stopped working, I haven't fiddled with it yet other than making sure it wasn't dead batteries.
What I did not like about this set: -Battery Pack. I thought the battery pack was ridiculously big and heavy...who needs 4 AA batteries to power a small Lego motor? The battery pack is so heavy and the connection cord to the actual motor so short that it is very cumbersome to find a way to attach this battery pack to your Lego creation. I would like to see at least a separate option for smaller battery pack (such as 2 AAA) in the event someone only wants to power a small Lego car and not an actual life-size car. -Motor durability. Mine broke after 4 days of light use. It was not dead batteries because I tried a fresh set of batteries and still no luck.
I do like the concept of kids taking their Legos to the next level by adding motors and gears. Would I buy this product again? The answer is no if I could find an alternative that better met my needs (smaller battery pack, more durable, etc).
