『This is made in Italy and a wonderful toy. What is more exciting than building your own instrument and then getting to play it. When they are created they look like something you would see in a Dr. Suess book. They are so much fun and compatible with Quercetti's Tubation set. You then can build even bigger and sillier instruments or build any amazing creation you can think up! These are also safe for houses with babies. The pieces are quite large!』

『This is my 3 1/2 year old's very favorite toy and has been for over a year. He creates all sorts of things out of the pieces, though rarely musical instruments. He loves to make robots esp., but he comes up with stange tools and walkingsticks, weapons, and smoking pipes, too. I agree with the reviewer who stated that some pieces don't fit together as tightly as they should. When they fall apart, this frustrates him immensely, but overall, he still loves this toy and plays with it everyday without exception.』

(Surprising staying power)
『A year after receiving this toy as a gift, I'm happy to say my 5-year-old son still chooses to bring this one out to build, where other toys are abandoned, broken, or discarded. He needs help to build it, but manages to make repairs on his own, and has asked for the other "thrill rides" in the set.

It requires a little construction savvy and patience, and has lots and LOTS of little parts. Our fingers are always worn by the time we're ready to turn it on. Good for kids and parents who are mechanically inclined -- frustrating for people who aren't. Did I mention LOTS of little parts? Yeah, get some baggies for storage.』

『I think I need to buy another one for my desk at work. This thing is cool.

I would take the one I have to work, but my kids (4 and 6) play with it almost every day. We haven't taken it apart yet since Christmas. They even manage to fix it themselves sometimes when a piece or two falls off, which is not that often considering how rough they can be. They also have not broken a piece yet, although they did lose one of the very small pieces. Luckily we had a replacement in their K-Nex bin.』

『I know some folks have said K'NEX is too hard for kids to put together, but IMO it is a project for a parent and a child. My husband and eight year old daugther have put two of these together working as a team and it was so much fun. My daughter has to use critical thinking skills and learns mechanical engineering techniques. This Octopus Whirl is number four in the list to do. I think these types of projects offer quality time for parents / children and really challenge their minds. We have three more that the team will be working on in the near future.』

『I got this for my son's 7th birthday. I almost didn't because the picture they use (Eiffel Tower) makes it look like there aren't many pieces. The instructions have 6 models, all of which are fairly complicated and he needed help making them. Since then, he has made some things on his own that have looked pretty good. As an engineer, I like seeing him learn how things go together and what needs to be done to make things stable. He also got a bunch of lego sets around Christmas, but they can really on make what's on the box--the Erector set allows him to use his imagination. He hasn't used them much yet, but I think it's because there aren't that many pieces to work with. I'm looking at getting another set, or perhaps the mechanized version so he can see his creations move.』

『I recently purchased this and think it is a great set,and is worth buying and building.Lego has done it again a great set at a great price. It is pretty durable but should not be dropped just like other lego kits. It is a somewhat compliacted kit and is not really for beginners. Overall I would give the kit an A. I would definitely buy it at that price if you dont already own it.』

『I bought this set for my daughter as a gift when she was 2. She loved it, immediately started playing with it. She's about to turn 6, and still plays with it often. It goes well with her Thomas the Tank Engine and Brio train tracks and trains. Sometimes we get up in the morning to find she's pulled the town out, set it up, and is setting up animals and dinosaurs as the town's inhabitants.』

『Disappointed as racer does not jump easily and definitely cannot use the pushing action in the back to propel up the ramp, rather must manually push the racer up the ramp. Back pushing action barely makes the racer jump and it easily falls on its side. Would not buy another racer again. Pictures and descriptions don't fit reality.』

『My 10 year old daughter had a great time putting this together. I had to only help her snap a few of the harder pieces together. Unfortunately, the biggest wheel is crooked and no matter how much I try to straighten it, it won't clear the base and keeps getting stuck on the base. It seems like the base isn't strong enough to hold the weight of the wheel or the base needs to be raised. When I lift part of the base it will turn all the way around and is quite exciting. I need to contact K'Nex to find a solution. We haven't assembled the second option yet. Overall we had a fun time and would recommend it.』

We went through four other FACTORY SEALED boxes before we found one that actually had the missing pieces!! After completing the set, it works okay. The wheels do hit the bases they spin. It's annoying to me, but he still likes the toy. Compared with other Knex toys, I was not impressed with this one at all.』

『The same size as Lego's previous mini-tractor (#8281 from 2006, available for astronomical prices), this is one of Lego's low-cost Technic sets for 2009. The most ingenious aspect of the set is the way in which pieces model the actual curves and angles of a real tractor. The coloring is well-done too. The bucket is user-controlled from a knob in the rear that drives a worm gear. My only negative comment is that the forward wheels are a tad wobbly. Still, this has proven a robust and fun toy for my son. As with many of the Technic sets, children younger than the 7-14 recommendation can still have a great time with the tractor, but an adult will likely have to help build the set.』

The K'NEX double ferris wheel has two spinning wheels rotating in opposite directions.

In their Thrill Rides line, the K'NEX double ferris wheel puts the "amusement" back into amusement park. Build a towering ferris wheel constructed with 977 K'NEX bricks and Micro-K'NEX pieces. Reaching three feet tall, the gigantic gyrating wheels reward determination and imagination.

Construct the base and build the two star-shaped rotating wheels. Pivoting on one of K'NEX's most powerful motors, the double ferris wheel will spin the brightly colored star wheels in opposite directions. The double ferris wheel takes the traditional puzzle, makes it three dimensional, and adds interactive play.

If you have had some experience with K'NEX toys, then construction is fairly straightforward, but even without prior use, little time is needed to get acquainted. Patience is important, and a child that is determined to finish puzzles will take to this toy. The double ferris wheel provides hours of fun for the little builder in your life, however, with many small plastic pieces the manufacturer recommends this toy for ages eight and up.
