When I was a child we always had slot cars, I don't recall the name brand but the quality was outstanding compared to this piece of junk... This set broke within the first day, but I kept trying to make it work cause my boys love Disney cars..It was their first slot car set and was fun for them but it was more frustrating than it was worth. The cars stop working, the set won't stay together, pieces are so so cheap, btw I paid $19.95 for this at toysrus, so this price of $199 is outrageous.. I just had to say something.. I felt like I got ripped off at $19.95, but honestly anyone who pays more for this set is going to regret it...I am buying my son a Carrera Go Speed Racer set..The quality of Carrera, and Scx and Scalextric blow this away.. I have not seen the Carrera "Go", but have seen other Carrera sets and they have been around for as long as I have so it may have been the maker of the sets we played with as kids.. It looks to be of the same quality anyway...Anyway don't be fooled some of these reviews that say this is a good choice. It's really, really not!!! My son received this set for his birthday and he and his brothers were thrilled to get it set-up and running. Unfortunately, it only ran properly a few times. Both race cars broke the first day. The wheels were the biggest problem with the tiny tires coming off. We almost got the blue car to run again and then the track would not stay linked together. Very disappointing. We were excited to have a slot car set, but this one has been tempermental since the day we set it up. Currently, it is not running at all and we have tried all of the maintenance suggestions. It is also a pretty high maintenance toy for a younger child. Good price, not so good quality. My daughter is in love with this movie so I thought Id get her this as part of her bday present and she just loves it. Pretty easy to put together and it has held up to her mild abuse of this toy, and i really like the 3 different speed settings so the cars dont fly off the track so easily. I wish i could find some other cars, instead of the DOC HUDSON toy that came with it, MATER, anyone? This thing is great for the someone above the age of 15, for being a 'toy' these blades spin faster than I would think, but as long as you are using your head you should be safe. Onits maiden voyage it went up and went out of control. Found out after the crash lasnding that the rotor broke off and was unable to fix it since it was all plastic. PIECE OF JUNK! This is not a highly maneuverable helicopter, this is not a "toy" for young children, and this is not designed to be wonderful, but it is meant to be cheap fun for those who love helicopters. What this helicopter is, however, is essentially a large Picoo Z for outdoor use. The quality of construction first appears weak, but upon many crashes, I have found it quite durable. Do not, however, rely on its durability only. In the hands of small children, it will break quickly. It is somewhat difficult to fly, but once it's trimmed, it can be surprisingly controllable (though not NEARLY as such as a helicopter of higher quality with more channels.) The trim knob is easy to adjust for left/right motion, and for forward motion, simply affix weight to the front of the fuselage. A small fishing weight or small change stuffed in the battery compartment will suffice. As for educational value, this is by no means a highly educational toy. However, it does teach basic helicopter controls and how to properly take care of precision equipment. I've bought many RC helicopters for under $100, and so far this is the only one that: - Can be flown outdoors - Can fly into the wind. - Has cheap, user replaceable parts. - Can be flown indoors (though I do not recommend, especially until accustomed to the controls) - Isn't primarily styrofoam. - Has very far controllable range. If you want something that is very controllable and stable, I HIGHLY recommend a proxyflier instead (Bladerunner, Micro Mosquito) as they are very stable, though only indoors. If you want a very cheap, fun helicopter that can handle outdoors, looks like a real helicopter, and is large, this will be very suitable on a tight budget. This thing cannot hover in one place without spinning. The trim is located on the heli so you cannot adjust it while flying. In other words it's adjust, fly, land, and repeat until you get close. Also this thing flies anywhere it wants, you cannot control where it goes. You can only control direction of rotation and up/down. This is especially bad because you cannot fly this indoors because it's erratic, but you cannot fly it outside either because a little wind causes it to drift out of the range of your transmitter Mine lasted for a couple weeks then the tail motor died so it could not be flown anymore without spinning out of control. The only good thing about it is it's very durable and it charges in only 3 hrs while giving you about 10 minutes of flight time. Don't waste your money on this, instead get the 3ch 735 series which is a micro heli and VERY stable. He LOVES this crane and play very rough with it and everything is just fine. No breaks after 8 months of tough two year old love. Too bad other toys are not this dependable or realistic. This is yet another great Bruder truck. Very durable and realistic. My 4 year old son has a lot of fun with this truck, creating all kinds of imaginary scenarios when using it. The one issue I did have was that this truck was delivered from an external toy store, associated with Amazon, and the delivery took much longer than advertised on Amazon's site, and I was not given any tracking information. Luckily it did come before Christmas, because this was the toy he asked Santa for. :) We gave this truck to our grandson for Christmas and he has not stopped playing with it. He even brings it over to our house when we baby-sit for him. It is very well made and is very sturdy and easy to maneuver. We also do not need to worry about any lead in the product. We are planning to buy other toys made by this company in the future. We bought this for my son for Christmas, he is 5...LOVES it. He plays with it all the time. Wonderful product. It came intact (no assembly) and seems to be well-made. Our grandson is five and is crazy about it. All the parts work easily and I think it will last a long time. Unfortunately, it did not survive the whole year (10 months). This truck was responsive and quick to spin, speed around obstacles or go over them with its great big wheels. This toy is meant for the outdoors and had no problems running over the rough terrain or work long distances. Gravedigger will probaly last for a long time - as long as your child refrains from crashing it. My sons enjoyed ramming them into rocks or each other and the wear and tear finally messed up the internal gears and one died while the other just kept spinning. It did take a lot of knocks before it finally gave out! I recommend this truck as a gift to a boy (4-10) as long as constant crashing isn't the goal. Gave to 4 year old for birthday present. It was his favorite gift and all the kids loved it. I was worried about him being able to operate it and that was not a problem. It was well worth the money and made a 4 year old VERRRRRYYYYY HAPPPPPYYYYYY... It was a B-day present for a 7 Yr old. He loved it and so did all the rest of the boys at the party. At 3 1/2, our boy can make this truck do everything it's designed to. The pistol grip control helps him to keep just one hand pushing buttons, too. The battery install in the controller isn't very intuitive, but once we got that right (read directions, eh?) all systems were GO! The two built in stunts are a big hit, too. We're not into gory stuff, so we removed the yucky decals on the sides. We gave this truck to our 10-year old nephew. Once we got the batteries into it, the car was played with non-stop all day. Even our 3-year old niece was able to operate the car once she was shown the controls. The car goes forward and backward and stands up on the back wheels and spins in a circle. The car stands up to crashes into walls and other objects. It takes 8 batteries, but the car was still going strong after 6 hours. This was the hit toy at our Christmas. I bought this for my 13 year old. I originally was looking at the small remote control helicopters, but the reviews about them breaking on day 1 scared me off. I think these tanks are well built and will last. They just move a little slow. If you are out in the open, you have no chance of outrunning the other guys ability to turn his turret and nail you. So we both end up hiding behind the couch or table waiting for the other guy to move into the open and get killed. Maybe 8 to 10 year olds might enjoy it more. Purchased this for my cousin for Christmas. Seemed like it would be fun after reading the description and other reviews, and even found a very detailed review on another site. Unfortunately, because of the way the tanks are designed, it wasn't that much fun. It makes me wonder if the manufacturer play tested the set. When a tank is shot, the tank is completely disabled and the tank cannot move at all for almost a minute. The player cannot control his tank, but it also cannot take another hit during this time. This however allows the second player (the one that did the shooting) to just sit there and wait for the tank to become enabled again and take a shot the moment it's ready. The first player doesn't get a chance to move away to avoid becoming a target again. This means that the first person to get a shot wins. If you had 3 or 4 tanks (according to the package there is a second set of tanks that can be combined with this set, but it is so rare no-one has ever seen one available for purchase) then the player sitting waiting to take another shot would be a vulnerable target for the 3rd and 4th players. With only 2 tanks though the game isn't as much fun. I bought this product for my 10 year old nephew. He was very excited and played with it most of the morning Christmas morning. The down side is that the toy is extremely loud and other people were unable to be in the same room he was when using the toy. As an adult, I found the toy fun, but a little difficult to maneuver. Overall it was a decent gift, but definately needs to be used outside. My grandson (and Grampy) went wild over this toy. It kept their attention longer than any other gift. We own the Piston Cup 500 race track. By far, Sally is the fastest moving car for the track. These little die cast cars are durable and comparable to hotwheels.
