These cars are quality made, like when I was a kid. The likeness to the film cars is excellent. I just received these today - a Christmas gift for my 3 year old. I guess I didn't read the description well enough. I though these were a little bigger. They do have excellent detail and I'm sure my son will love them. I just expected a slightly larger, sturdier toy. He hasn't opened them yet, of course, but I can see where small parts could break off as they are so small. I gave this to my grandson and granddaughter and they both enjoy playing Thomas trains. I keep a set at our house and they both look forward to coming over to play trains with GrandPa. My 2 year old loves this product. It has magnets that hook the trains together and he has been able to create an even longer train with other magnet cars (e.g. from Dora the Explorer). The train pieces are very high quality and I believe will last for many years. I got this toy for my grandson's 3rd birthday. He spends countless hours playing with it. He likes moving the doors on the zoo car&talking to the hippo. Has been a great addition to his wooden railway set. The hippo moves its mouth. That's cute. The yellow box car is too tall to go under the bridge that we have. The yellow car has pictures of animals, but otherwise is not an outstanding car. It does not appear as special to my 5-year-old as I had expected when I bought it. As all of these wooden learning toys that I have purchased, this one is excellent. The quality is wonderful, and the durability is beyond what a two-year-old can give it. Lots of imagination allowed, when playing with this! A nice addition to the take along Thomas set. My boys like to play with it and especially how it rocks up and down when they roll it. Nice price, works well for a little gift. Note that you only get one, not 2 like my son thought. Troublesome Trucks appear in several Thomas&Friends DVD episodes. The toys allow our grandson to creat his own stories when he plays with them. For anyone that collects the die-cast Thomas the Train cars, this truck is a great addition to your child's collection. I purchased two for my three and a half year old son who uses them, but has over the past six months made games to try and run away from these troublesome trucks. Different than the other cars, the upper part of the car will rock on a hinge as it rolls down the track. If your child plays rough with these trains as our child sometimes does it can get stuck in a position that keeps the front wheels from turning causing it to tip when the train pulls it around a corner. So again these trains are a great novelty, and the most durable of the collection, but these troublesome trucks were not designed to hold up after several drops or crashes from a growing toddler. This Troublesome Truck features a durable die-cast construction. This includes exclusive collector's card and it measures 2.50" long. My only complaint is that I needed to repair it out of the box. One of the wooden supports was not fixed to the bridge properly - had to glue it myself. Minor issue but something that should not happen when paying a higher price for the Thomas brand. my 2yo twin boys are in love with this double-span bridge, which comes with 2 ascending tracks. the only caveat i have is that the two bridge pieces don't connect to each other (you need a male-male connector to do so, and that isn't included), and combined, the bridge&ascending track combo is too long for our nilo train table. so we just use the one track, or configure the tracks so that there's a bridge in 2 separate areas. otherwise the bridge is great - very durable and my boys love it. I have three boys ages 12,6,and 2 and a half. All three boys enjoy playing together with there many Thomas pieces. This bridge stays together and can be used as a small bridge or both pieces as a large bridge without the two year old knocking it down easily. It makes building a more complicated track fun for the 12 year old without his younger brothers messing it up. A great addition to any set. We have tons of Thomas wooden railway pieces. I can tell you that this is the one we use in every layout we build. It adds height ands is easy to fit into your layout. Sturdy and colorful too. I like to use it with the arched viaduct for a sturdy raised track that doesnt fall over. Starting around age 2 the "World of Thomas" and his train friends became the biggest part of my son's days of play. If you are as deep into Thomas as my family is then the Sodor Bay Bridge is a must have. Hours and hours are spend pushing the toy trains over and under the bridge. Your first three starter purchases should be the trains, the tracks and then this bridge. Good Luck it is an expensive "world" your getting into!!! It came on time and was exactly what I expected. It is withstanding much abuse from a 3 year old and occasionally from his 1 year old brother! I'm super happy with Rocky! Immediately after opening the package and getting Rocky onto the track, my son used the magnetic crane to "tow" another train back onto the track. I was so impressed with this action, that my ability to give an unbiased review of the product may be a little limited. Sashamellow's description of the toy's limitations are accurate. But I did not feel they reduce my son's enjoyment of the toy overly much. Interestingly, the fact that Rocky does not fit through tunnels led my son to want to create a branch for Rocky to take around the tunnel which was a great problem solving task for him. However, if you don't have the extra track to make this an enjoyable task for your child, you may just find yourself trying to remind them not to try to shove Rocky in the tunnel again. I don't understand at all what the front and back cars are for except to look just like the character from the show. My son will tow other trains onto the track, but putting anything on the front car will just result in it falling down right away. The magnets on the front car don't line up with anything that would help them remain on the flatbed. Overall, this is a great looking toy, but has some great limitations in its playability. And, yet, because both my son and I enjoying pulling out Rocky to rescue other trains that have crash, I still give this toy a favorable rating. My son is a train fanatic, and we got this as a gift. Rocky has very limited movement, and is so big that he doesn't fit through the tunnels and under bridges that go with the rest of the set. The ability to lift other trains magnetically is a cool feature, but things put on the flat bed fall off really easily. My 3 year old son likes this toy, but does get frustrated with it. This toy is cute, but way over priced. This Rocky is handmade from durable New England hard maple. (Best toy so far) (Fun race track) This toy is absolute fun for both mom and son. If your kid has tons of hot wheels cars this is the perfect thing to get. Its so much fun to see which cars are the fastest. Also it basically comes right out of the box without all those stupid twist ties like every other toy usually has. Set up was very simple. I cant attest to the durability of this product at this point because we just opened it and it can be wobbly if your knocking into it alot. But its just so much fun. Also the "cars movie" (lightening mcqueen etc.) "mini adventures" cars work with this too. My 3 1/2 year old loves this thing. He was so excited we had to stop to calm him down after ten minutes of play. He actually slept with it. He has tried to race cars side by side on seperate pieces of orange track for weeks now and I feel bad I didn't see this toy before. Like all plastic toys they need some proper set up and supervision but this thing worked great for 3 hours no adjustments. Till he fell on it ,then we just put it back up . I've read some reviews that say these toys are flimsy but I don't want my son playing with a nice sturdy steel track bolted to the floor. That might cost more than 20.00. and he'd get hurt falling on steel. He's a klutz just like Dad, Great toy. I couldn't find the 4 lane raceway by Hot Wheels that received the great reviews. However, I found this one at Target on sale and my 3 1/2 year old loves it. He has lots of Hot Wheels cars and loves to see which one is the fastest. It's easy to fold away and store and it's easy to set up. I definitely reccommend this toy for your little car fans. FYI: the pixar cars don't fit on this raceway.
