My special needs three year old son got this for Christmas. He built it with a little help from his dad in about an hour. He enjoyed it so much we're buying the rest of the sets for his birthday!
We bought this for our son. The truck is very nice and sturdy, but was ridiculously hard to put together. It took us about 2.5 hours to build. The instructions were very unclear, in fact, the pictures lead us to put half of the truck together backwards! The screws were very tiny, and difficult to screw in. Our son has enjoyed playing with it; he especially likes the movable trash dumper in the back. Overall, if you are willing to spend a significant amount of time assembling the truck, you will be pleased with the results.
This truck is extremely difficult to put together. Screws are small and directions are poor. Nice when it is done, but takes an hour and is frustrating.
Our 2yr old is enamored with trash trucks - therefore, we picked this up for his birthday gift. Since our tot is too young to assemble the truck, my husband, a professional bicycle mechanic, was charged with putting it together before the party. It took my mechanically capable husband almost 2 hours to assemble it. However - it was completely worth the effort. This was (and, a month later, still is) our toddler's favorite toy. He loves the fact that it comes with a trash can and trash that dump into the truck - just like a "real" trash truck. I would, without hesitation, recommend this toy...just allow yourself some time for assembly. :)
Great truck. Time consuming to put together but well worth the effort. A child's imagination is something to watch while they play with this STURDY truck. It has already outlasted the plastic trucks.

(Great gift for a little boy)

My grandson asked me to buy him a blue airplane. I had no idea how to begin looking for one, and then remembered that all I needed to do was type in 'blue'&'aiplane'&'toy' on Amazon. This was one of the results.It needs batteries, but once they're in,th little airplane works really well. My granson is four, it took him only a short time to learn how to load the plane to the launcher. The launcher is made of a sturdy plastic and the plane is made of a compressed strofoam-type stuff that is really much stronger than I thought it was going to be. My grandson thinks this plane is the most wonderful toy he has, and still plays with it every other day or so. I like this toy very much and his parents are pleased even though the launcher could be seen by some as a 'gun.'

Another product in a great line of toys. If you have a young son, it's hard to go wrong with these fine toys
And Molly is not portrayed stereotypically. She is as capable physically as the boys. She's a good choice, for a second or third tier engine.
This Molly is a large, powerful and bright yellow engine. It is proud of her strength, and is also sensitive. It¿s very aware of what the other engines think of it and wants them to think the best.

My 4-yr old son loves this toy. What's not to love? It's extremely detailed and looks as real as you can get in a toy. It has many functional parts, the tires are soft, it's intuitive and easy to play with, and it's BIG. Unfortunately, within five minutes of opening the box, our 3-yr old daughter broke a small part off the toy. For the high price, I'd expect the toy to be a bit more durable. This thing could easily be destroyed if you accidentally kicked or stepped on it. Perhaps durability and detail don't come in the same package. If you have a careful/responsible child, this toy will provide years of enjoyment. Otherwise, look to cheaper alternatives that are surely more durable than this product.

This truck stood up to our 50 lb. 3-1/2 year old riding on it bronco style! Another well made truck from Breuder!
My husband and I bought this for our 3 year old son for Christmas and he loves it! It is HUGE! The truck has working doors. My son also likes that he can fit his toy motorcycle in front of the backhoe. This was a great buy!
I purchased this toy from Amazon after my son saw it in a catalog of an expensive toy store. He continuously asked for it and I found it on Amazon at a cost significantly less than the toy store catalog. It arrived quickly and perfectly - no damage whatsoever, especially given the size of this truck! (This is a large truck about 3 feet long and includes a backhoe.) My son adores this toy and plays with it daily. It is made well - I have had very good experiences with the "Bruder" line of toys - made well, durable, and very realistic.

If you have a child who really likes truck, you simply can't go wrong with this truck (or any other trucks in the Bruder line). I've found that Bruder trucks are more realistic looking, which is key for my 3 year old.

Overall, I would highly recommend this truck.
My 3 1/2 year old son LOVES this truck!!! He plays with it every day and has since the day that he got it. It is over 2 feet long, but that makes it even better for him. He is very hard on toys and I got tired of buying "cheap" trucks for him to break within a day or two, but this one has lasted and seems to be almost unbreakable!

I got this for my son's birthday. He loves this one because he is into pirates right now. He has other Matchbox Pop-Ups, they can connect to each other. As a mom, I like the easy storage of all the pieces into one carrying case, makes it easy when he wants to take it with him!
My five-year-old wanted this toy so bad. He likes playing with it, mostly by himself. I'm surprised that it's pretty durable since the parts are made to fold up. I'm also glad it accomodates the regular size Matchbox/Hot Wheels cars, not micros.
That said, I think more open-ended you-build-it car tracks are better and more conducive to longer, more imaginative play. However, this is good for a short play session and travels well. If your kid is pirate-crazy and loves little cars, he or she will not be disappointed with this toy.
this toy is awsome! I got it for my 11th birthday and I still love it (i'm almost 12) it is very detailed, as are most of the other pop-ups. It is huge,too.pirate theme seems to be designed for play with not only pirate themes, but others, also.the land rover 90 car is great, to, and the crocidile is nearly TWICE the lenth of the car.the cannon included also really does fire, dispite any suspitions you may have. 1000 star if there was that option.
I bought two of these this xmas season for my grandsons. One child is 3 and the other is 4. Once they opened them they didn't want to open any of the other presents and have since played with them everyday. They both insist on taking them every time they have had to go visit other relatives for holiday celebrations. The only draw back if you want to call it that is that there are some small pieces and at this age they tend to lose them. But overall it is a great imagination play toy and pirates for some reason is "awesome grandmom". I would highly recommend to this age group. I specifically bought them because the toy is self contained and can be brought with them anywhere to play especially because they visit lots of relatives homes that are not "kid oriented" since most have fully grown children and they are out of that mode.

My kids love these. I'm not sure why the company name changed or what. But they are just like the Tomy brand that we bought. The kids did want to get the new track though even though we had tons of the blue tracks. My children have take along, wooden thomas&trackmaster and by far they love the trackmaster the best because they are battery powered. We do go through battries but the kids love it. This was one of the best buys we made.
I was looking for additional track and found this to be a great value. The track I have now is wood, and I assumed these pieces would be wood also since the product packaging and description did not say otherwise and the photos on the product packaging "look" like wood. There is absolutely no mention anywhere saying what the tracks are made of.

So my amazement, when the track arrived, we found it is plastic! It does snap together a bit easier than the wooden track we have, but doesn't look as nice as the wooden track.

NOTE: If you have wood track, this plastic track is NOT interchangable and can not be used to expand a wood track system. Again, the product description is highly misleading as this is promoted as a "Track Expansion Pack"

Overall I am extremely dissapointed with the highly misleading and deceptive manner the way this product is packaged and described, you assume it will be made from wood like most of the track is and have no way of telling otherwise. I won't purchase from this vendor again, and shame on Amazon for not requiring more disclosure as to what materials the track is made of.

If you want a cheap plastic track that doesn't always lay flat, then buy this. If you want wood track, or to expand wood track, don't buy this.

For the last few years at the big-box retailers, model railways have been stocked as a niche item or an occasional product with minimal interest. Sometimes only a few of them on an end-cap, like an afterthought.

With TrackMaster's Thomas Adventure collection all of this quickly changed.

For the last four days, I've been stuck model railroading with my eighteen month old son, Fox. I first purchased him the Sodor Adventure set, quickly assembled it with no trouble and became hooked. Both of us laid there on the carpet, mesmerized watching the little blue engine continually circling the track.

Not feeling satisfied, like any parent obsessed, I ran back out and purchased:

So in total, I spent about a $[...] You could actually do without the Backpack Kit and get two Expansion kits, as I later found it to be a better value. But it was more than worth the money I spent as this has really become the new time consuming thing to do all day long.

My chief complaints with the product is that the small bridge support pieces are not snappable or stackable like you would think, which would help you to elevate the track and keep it steady. To alleviate this problem, I had a flash of genius and pulled out some Lego sets and started building bridges, adding houses and some little people. Fox is going crazy over this stuff.

What I've found in the last number of days playing with Model Railroads, is that it's a good lesson for my son to learn to 'not touch' or 'watch', 'be gentle' and 'don't grab'. After untold hours, he knows now to be gentle, not to grab the trains or the cars, dismantle the track or other set pieces. He also avoids walking on the track, too. Which was the first thing he was all about.

The Remote Control Engines that are available are also nice as they add the ability to go backwards and forwards and stop thus preventing collisions. My mind wants there to be electronic switching (haha), but that's a bit advanced for Thomas and Friends.

This track is capable of being combined with the old blue track as well with a few adapter pieces which I've seen in the store and available on the Thomas website. Just be advised that some of these sets advertised are wooden, some are for the cars and some are both.

There are also quite a few engine sets, pulley cars, cabooses, containers, etc., available to add on to the track. All of them are battery operated and speed along very smoothly. They get high points for the low price point of between five and seven dollars per car or per set. Remember other Model Railroading equipment runs into the many hundreds. Also, the track is very flexible in terms of using other types of motorized vehicles and little cars.

Overall, this entire set is well worth the time and money and is durable and easy to install and quick to take down and put back up. We have a race to see if we can get all the track back in the box before bedtime every night too. Setting it up is actually part of the fun, too.

I'll be playing with the stuff well into the new year, as will my son.

The product in the picture is not the product you get. The difference in the picture from what I received is that the picture has 3 tall track risers, 8 sloped curved tracks and 8 curved tracks. What I got was only 1 tall track riser, 6 sloped curved tracks and 10 curved tracks. Everything else was correct. According to the box I received my product was complete. It seems that the picture on Amazon is not correct. All in all it's still a lot of track for the price but Amazon needs to change the image they show.

Well made toy, though did not come with the tray shown in picture. It came in a cardboard package. My 2 year old enjoys putting the bottles in and out of the cardboard display, though it's a bit difficult to keep display/packaging upright.
These are very cute, sturdy, and played with a ton at our house! Would recommend them to anyone.
My daughters (5 and almost 2) both enjoy playing with these. They can create many interesting recipes in their play house, with the assortment of condiments. The colors are fun and helped the little one learn her colors. The magnetic lids are nice because they stay put but are easy enough for little ones to remove.
Just received this set. I ordered this for a two year old obsessed with ketchup! It's an accessory for his new wood toy kitchen. I was afraid the colors might be a bit jarring with the natural wood of his other toys, but was pleasantly surprised. They're sturdy and cute and he enjoys them. I like that the different caps aren't interchangable...it's good practice for matching colors. These aren't heirloom toys, but they're sturdy and will last. I wish the magnets were a bit stronger, but they do the trick. I'm happy with this purchase.

I ordered these tracks and was glad that I did. It gave more playing space for the train set and allowed for additional trains to be played with at the same time.
We wanted to expand this collection for my son since he loves his round house station. We travel alot so it is nice to have this set. I do not believe this set is intended to make a complete track, it is intended to expand the sets you already have. It does what it is supposed to- allow you to expand the track and make different track designs for the kids. My two year old is figuring it out, but for now I help him with it. It is pretty durable and he is happy with it. I don't have much trouble but no, you aren't going to make a complete track with no loose ends. Just use your creativity. that's what this toy is supposed to do- give kids the opportunity to be creative in developing their own tracks.I think it's great and I will probably buy my son the switch and change track pack too. He prefers this set to his wooden set and the trackmaster set is just too advanced for him... just an FYI...
The Take Along track set is nice for...taking along somewhere! But our little guy prefers the wooden tracks and trains over these for his everyday play. The wooden track is easier for little hands to work with. These pieces are sometimes difficult to snap together. We really like the Take Along trains and vehicles, but this track is definitely lower quality than the wooden or Trackmaster track sets. We are not going to invest anymore money in this type of track, but are going to expand our son's wooden track collection.
My 4 year old son took an interest in the take-along Thomas trains and wanted some track to go with them. The track is easily put together by him. It is lighter than the wooden track so he can handle a large box of pieces without a problem. The "rails" are wide enough so that the trains pass easily on them. (They are also wide enough for Hot Wheels/Matchbox cars). He loves this track and I think it's a great item.
My son got a take along Thomas when he turned two and was quickly bored with the few tracks it came with so I bought these add-on tracks. He loves these tracks and spends hours configuring them. Although he likes to use them with his matchbox cars more than with the trains. Would definitely buy again and recommend to others.
This Track pack includes 20 pieces of straight and curved track. Take Along vehicles, track and destinations are not compatible with Thomas Wooden Railway items.

We just added this to my son's ever growing collection of Thomas and Friends and he loves it.
My 3 yr old loves Toby and was very happy to have received the "Old Teapot" for Christmas this year. He looks great!

My child loves this Toby engine. It has held up remarkable well to drops and other mishaps. All the paint is still intact after several months of use. Overall we are quite pleased with the purchase. Keep an eye out at your local Target for markdowns; we purchased several of the engines for less than four dollars.

I am usually a stickler about one type of toy from my child but because of entertainment reasons my child has a few of these Take Along Thomas toys. We love the wooden ones and want to keep them at home because of the price we don't want to see them lost.

This Take Along Thomas and Friends - Toby the Tram Engine is a Pocket-sized, die-cast Toby engine. Toby is an engine who is always happy to work, although sometimes he can be a bit temperamental. It features Smart Magnets that connect both way and an exclusive collector's card.
