This was a gift for a 2 year old. As he likes Thomas, I am sure he will find this a great addition to his set.
We took our son to the Chicago Botanical Gardens, and they had a James in the model train garden. We hadn't even watched the show at that point, but I bought him a Take Along James as a souveneir.

I liked the Take Along size, and my son fell in love with Thomas&Friends (especially after watching Thomas the Tank Engine and Friends - James and the Red Balloon)...eventually we collected almost all of them.

We've had this James for a couple of years, and recently one of the magnets reversed itself, so the coal car repels itself, instead of "sticking," as my son puts it...I have no idea how it happened.

My son keeps all of his Take Alongs in two Take Along Thomas&Friends - Travel Totes. Unlike the wooden sets, we've never had to worry about recalls for lead.
all these thomas the tank engine trains are the greatest. My 2 sons love them, and I would purchase more as time goes on. the shipping is so fast that I would order online again
Just to let you all know.. there are more avaiable at Target.. I had bought most of the Portable ones at Target and they are all great!!!! Perfect to take along...I LOVE them as much as my son.
A well-meaning grandparent purchased this James for my son. The engine and tender are made of die-cast metal and the magnets can be used in both directions, unlike the wooden Thomas cars and engines. And therein lies the problem. All take along Thomas engines are NOT compatible with the popular Thomas wooden railway toys, meaning that this engine does not fit on the wooden track, and the wooden Thomas engines do not fit on track and playsets built for this James engine and his friends.
This James the Red Engine is a medium-sized engine, James likes to think of himself as a really splendid engine. This can occasionally lead to grandiose ideas about the sort of work suitable for such a noble creature, which invariably lands James in trouble.

Better than your average cheap toy, these have some weight to them and feel like quality products. My local retail stores have these for less money, even before any additional shipping cost is added on, however trying to obtain specific cars for my 3 year olds collection that he wanted were easier to find on Amazon so the $1 or $2 extra I paid I probably saved in gas from driving around store to store looking for them.

This pixar car-chick hicks- completes the set that my grandson has and absolutely loves and plays with all the time. Its a well made little replica-it arrived on time and was brand new.
The item came in good condition and my son was excited to see it, but the price is really high. All the other car toys are available in Walmart for under 8 dollars and no reason why some one has to spend 25 bucks for one car. I guess non-availability of this one ( and also Mack ) is a reason

(Disappointing)

Fun, Fun, Fun - My Grandson loves to shake it over and over just to see how far "Red the Fire Truck", goes and it goes pretty far. It also stands up very well to crashes with walls, and other Shake n Go's.
We bought this to add to our boys' Pixar shake n go collection. It does not fit on our original shake n go track. Only this one and Sarge are too wide for the track so it is only able to be played with on the floor. It will likely sit ignored in the toy box :(

This is a nice, durable toy. I like the fact that it is magnetic. It makes it much easier for little hands to connect the train cars.
My 3 yr old son is absolutely enamored with all things Thomas. Mighty Mac is just another train in his collection. While not the most educational toy around, they make him happy and keep him occupied. The trains are very durable and I have no fear that he can choke on small parts. He has about 20 to 25 trains and has memorized each trains. Not just the names, but the facial expressions and how that expresses emotion. How he can tell the difference between some of them is beyond me. Bill, Ben and the other train pairs look identical to me. But he can rattle them off without error no matter how much I mix them up. It's amazing to listen to his little 3yr old voice talking with such intensity and interest. If your child likes trains, I can't recommend Thomas enough.
My son LOVES Thomas and Friends, so we thought we'd add this unique train to his collection.

It was a bit larger than I expected, but my son could not have been happier than when he opened the box!
Cranky the Crane came just as described. It shipped quickly and arrived when expected. My son played with it right out of the box with his other Thomas and friends toys.
Bigger than I expected, which was good. The only problem is my toddler seems to disconnect the top extended part, but it is easily fixed by snapping it back into place. Other than that, he loves Cranky.
Grandma gave Cranky to my son for his 3rd birthday. He loves raising and lowering the crane. He plays with it all of the time and he is not gentle. I am very happy with the durability of this toy.
This Cranky pack includes a 5" special destination track with two adapter tracks and two cargo pieces. Take Along vehicles, track and destinations are not compatible with Thomas Wooden Railway items.

Automoblox toy cars are beautifully designed and well built. The wooden body is nicely finished and detailed with grooves and tasteful decals for brand name, logo, and car model. Overall, the fit and finish is very nice. I like that you can interchange parts if you own more than one Automoblox cars.

This particular car, C9-S Orange Sports Coupe, is an orange coloredversion of Automoblox C9 sports coupe.

I prefer these toys to the usual plastic toy cars, although I consider Automoblox to be a bit pricey.

Christmas present - waste of money. One helicopter worked, the other didn't. The one that worked was torn up by the end of the day.
Our 9 and 7 year old boys received these helicopters for Xmas and by far it was their favorite gift! They played with them for hours on hours Xmas day. These little helicopters fly just like they are advertised and the boys enjoyed battling against each other and shooting each other down. The only downfall is that they run out of charge rather quickly and they don't work well outside.
Toy arrived almost two months after ordering. They did not work when we opened the package. Tried to contact company to get refund or replacement. No response, I will never do business with this company or amazon again. I had to eat the cost of this item as no one will get back with me on how to return it. You have been warned!!!
Like others writing reviews, I purchased these Helos to play with my eight year old son. When they arrived we were incredibly excited. With a cold winter at hand, playing with these in our large basement with high ceilings seemed to be the perfect antidote.

Unfortunately we experienced many of the same problems here. Basically there's no quality control involved with producing these toys. They perform very inconsistently. One will be able to trim easily and perform all basic maneuvers; while the other will be challenged to rise and hover. In addition, the charge to run-time ratio is not very fun. You get only a short flight time (<8 Mins) before you have to charge it for a half an hour. While that may not seem to be along time to adults, for kids it's an eternity.

Finally, the product performance begins to degrade almost immediately. You can (and should) perform little maintenance activities in-between flights, but eventually the helos won't hold trim and will just rise and spin out of control before they become completely inoperable.

Bottom line: If $100 is petty cash to you, buy these and enjoy them for a couple of days. If, however, you believe that $100 should buy you some level of quality you will want to look elsewhere. Unfortunately, a real entry-level RC Helo will cost you at least $100 - for just one.

We got this truck and the Tonka Lights and Sound Rescue Helicopter for our boys, three and five for Christmas. The five-year-old is most interested in them. One problem for us has been that the hooks on both items come off all the time. I am constantly retying them and making sure we don't lose them. The other thing I wish I had done was to provide something for the boys to tow and rescue so that when they opened the gifts, they had a way to use them right away. Otherwise, a great buy.
i bought this tow truck to my nephew overseas, i asked my brother, as son receive it, connect to the internet and show me his face, and he did, and i can tell you that it was one of the happiest faces i ever had been see, the toy itself is great and the happiness it bring to this child was wonderfull.
I was given a birthday list with tow truck being #1, he loves it! This child plays with trucks constantly and boys can be rough, this truck is the best.

Last Christmas I brought this toy for my 2 year old son and he LOVES it! The lights and sounds give him the real feeling of being the driver of the truck. He's had this toy for 11 months now and so far nothing has broken and the paint has not chipped. It still looks like new.
