When it comes to Thomas and Friends, wooden vehicles are the way to go. The plastic ones are easily destroyed by my boys and the metal ones are too small for regular track. My son is a huge fan of Thomas and this train is a favorite of his...he loves the sounds and light. It sounds with motion, so as he pushes it along the tracks it makes the engine noise. Durable and not too loud which is a bonus for me! This Thomas features with an easy-to-operate button plays each engine's famous train whistle. (good addition to Thomas wooden railway) Guess I missed the deminsions when I viewed the product. It was a lot smaller than I expected. The little doors get popped off all the time too. I finally just left them off. It's cute and the boys love to play with it, but I think it's a little high priced just because it has a few flashing lights and whistles. I would recommend something a little less gadgety for the younger children. I bought this product for my nephew who is 4. He absolutely loved it and it was a great addition to his set. It makes noise and has a few lights which makes it more interesting for him. It is also more durable than some of the other "sights and sounds" pieces. I hadn't had much experience with the Thomas the Train wooden set, but this piece was wonderful. This firestation comes with an exclusive fire truck and a fire train. I bought this to use in a college course that I teach on construction equipment. I'd call it more of a model than a toy. Because it's a very accurate model, it has a lot of small plastic parts. We bought several Bruder vehicles for Christmas. This was one of the more reasonably priced ones, and it is smaller -- that is a good thing as some of them are just too big for our home. Well-made, made in Germany, and safe. Only draw back is it doesn't have lights or sounds, and my son seems to be attracted to that, but this one should last for years. this toy is the right size for a toddler. very easy for a 3 year old to push around. it is constructed to the scale of the actual caterpillar asphalt roller. lights go on and off, makes great noises. good purchase. very durable toy and will last a life-time This roller seems to be more durable than other Bruder products we have, but it is probably because there are fewer parts to break off. Nice toy for the price My 3 ds is big into construction vehicles so I was thrilled to find something that was offered at our local stores. He loves this toy! But, be forwarned, the plastic is a little on the flimsy side so breakage of the steering wheel and a couple other components is possible in "normal" boy play. Other than that, good choice. These toys are beautifully designed and well made. I like that the parts can be swapped between different vehicles in the collection. This particular toy, Automoblox A9-S white convertible, is my least favorite one. The thing that makes it least favorite is that the windshield is made of NON_TRANSPARENT white plastic making it look silly, in my opinion. All other cars in the collection feature transparent cabin. We first received an Automoblox as a gift, and I immediately went to Amazon to learn more about them. They really appeal to me as a mother and I wanted more. They are a little more pricey than what I usually want to pay for a toy but since they are made so well then they won't be thrown in the trash. When we pack an activity bag to visit grandparents, I like to carry a couple of our Automoblox with us. It gets people involved on the floor with the unique concept of the parts interchanging and the great feel of the smooth wood and sturdy pieces.
