My wife and I intended this toy to be a traveling companion since it folds up in an easy-to-carry case. Once our two boys -- ages 5 and 4 -- opened it up, they were entranced for hours. They quickly incorporated other pirate toys and Matchbox cars and pulled me down on their floor rug, where we role played pirate adventures.

"Papa, watch out for the crocodile!"

The toy is durable but you can't abuse it. There are lots of small parts -- pirates, cannonballs and a crocodile that snap into place.

This playset is best enjoyed with more than one person, kids and adults.

My son got this present for his birthday and he LOVED it, played with it a lot, etc... buuuuut after 2 months the toy woudn't close properly and the pieces (ramps) were breaking, falling off, and the closing latches fell off as well. Anyway, the toy is fun, the kids still play with it but it's not that well made and really isn't something that will last too long.

My daughter requested this item for Christmas last year. It was her number one priority gift.
The design is wonderful and the portability aspect was ideal.
Unfortunately, the thing disintegrated from there. At first it opened and closed easily and we were amazed. But after about one week of (not especially rough)play, pieces started to fall by the day. It is merely a skeleton of what it once was.
If it only had held up it would be a wonderful toy.
They don't make things like they used to:(
Birthday present for 3 year old grandson. Wonderful creative fun. He and his 5 year old brother love the 3 demensional play area. Parents enjoy the easy pop up assembly and easy clean up since it all fits in to it's own carrying case. Carrying case also has room for the extra pirates I purchased. It was great seeing the boys play quietly,createing pirate adventures and just having fun together.
My 3 year old son loves this toy. He plays with it a lot. The only thing I don't like about it is that it has small playing pieces that always get misplaced temporarily.

I think my two year old nephew liked it. Why does this review need to be so detailed?
We saw this set had the hard to find engine Oliver... we had to have that for our son. He loves all the vehicles, and connects them in long lines. He doesn't understand the magnets, and gets confused sometimes with Henrietta, because she doesn't have a face to show which way to point her. Any car or engine with a face, my son (21 months) can line up correctly on either track or on a table. So, the coal car Fred is nice... something different from an engine, but has a face so he can couple them himself.

Getting 5 vehicles together is a great cost savings too. You get Oliver, Toby, Henrietta, Fred, and Bertie the bus. All have couplers on front and back except Bertie. He only has a coupler on the back. Toby and Henrietta have solid white roofs. I was concerned these would chip and mark like the Thomas&Friends Wooden Railway System: Toad we had gotten to go with the Oliver engine. So far, they don't have a mark on them, and they've been played with just as much. So, RC2 must have improved their white paint quality or something.
Thomas and friend toys are in the top 10 choice for children with autism. It helps them with their hand and eye coordination. Parents have a hard time of finding information in order to help their children - so passing news along.

My son has enjoyed trains since 6 months to current. I tell his grandparents that for picking out presents - if they get a "Thomas and Friends" toy, it will be enjoyed and played with.
My four year old loves all his trains and the fact that they have names and personalities and he sees them on his Thomas DVDs is even better. Thumbs up for all these trains!
Our first present in the "Thomas Collection" was the ride-on train. Our two year old grandson loved it. For his 2nd birthday, we had a "Thomas" party and he loved it. Thomas balloons, Thomas tent (he would not come out of the train tent for very long at our house :)The BIG LIFT Book was a hit since the tent is big enough for someone to go in and read to him. Last but not least, just a few days before he and our son were to fly into Florida for his birthday party...my husband and I found the 5 trains that included the infamous Henrieta !! Oh, could we get it in time?? Of course....Amazon never dissapoints! And GRAM found something else from the corner of her eye....shhhh, Thomas Luggage. A bag just like mommy and daddy's w/ a pull up handle that looks just like what???? Sweet Thomas !The only complaint is that while I like the magnetic holding power, he got frustrated because at his age, he doesn't understand "magnets". I wish they would have hooked together and stayed together better. Every time he made a turn...off came a few of the cars !! He got very frustrated with this to say the least as he tried over and over just to have them slip. I guess having a track will fix the problem for now :( I would have given 5 stars except for the frustration with the magnets.

It arrived in time for my grandson's first birthday. He loves them and they are small enough to carry in his baby bag.
My son received these as a gift when he turned 2 years old. His pleasure was instant and lasting. Back then we got a kick out of his insistence on trying to carry all three trucks at once when it was time to leave the house.

At 3.5 years old, he still plays with them; His younger brother likes them, too. These trucks go outside, in the bathtub, in the car. They're sturdy yet lightweight, so they wouldn't hurt much if one were chucked at a sibling's head.

The pieces can be disassembled (loader, mixer and dumper are removable) and we have reassembled them countless times and they still fit and operate perfectly. Highly recommended.
These trucks are the right size for my 2.5 year old grandson. They are easily washable, virtually indestructable and have no sharp edges. They don't hurt him and don't scar the furniture when he plays roughly with them. He loves them and I can feel comfortable with him playing with them with little supervision. The price was right, too!
We purchased these for my almost 2 year old son for Christmas and he LOVES them! They are very durable and have parts you can move(you can dump the dump truck, ect...). These are made out of hard plastic and was exactly what we were looking for(no lead paint, yeah!) The only possible downside to these trucks would be that the moveable parts of the truck can come off. They pop right back into place and it doesn't happen often, so it's no big deal to us. I would buy them all over again! Highly recommended for your little truck-loving boy!
The 2-year-old loved them, loved being able to handle them with ease and loved that he had something he could manage without help from his 4-year-old brother. They seem to be pretty durable and take abuse easily.

Don't buy one box, buy TWO! The clips are so useful in keeping the track layout together that I started playing with the train set myself, like a delighted kid. The floor of my son's playroom is uneven, so the clips ensure that the track is smooth at every stage. Thus, fourteen clips in one box may not be enough. I just ordered my second box. Maybe the only drawback to this product is that my three-year old can't put the clips on the tracks by himself because it takes strength and manual coordination that he doesn't have yet. I guess this is an incentive for a parent to sit down with her kid! Anyway, in sum, Suretrack is a wonderful invention for any Thomas the Tank Engine fan who uses wooden tracks.
These track clips are a great alternative to gluing your track together. If you have a younger child (age 2 - 3) who is constantly breaking up the track while he or she is playing, these clips help keep the track together, yet still allow for you and your child to rearrange the track in different formations (which gluing the track would not allow you to do). I would definitely recommend these.
We bought 2 packages to go along with our Melissa and Doug Wooden Train Set. It was just enough to hold together the elevated sections of track. Without these our [...] would not have been able to use the train set with any elevated sections (they would have fallen apart too easily).

I consider this a MUST have.
I bought the Melissa&Doug wooden train set and I'm so glad I read the reviews first. Most people complained how easily the bridge fell apart and suggested these clips that I never heard of. I ordered these along with the train set and I don't know how you could do without them. I use them on the raised roads only and they hold it together so well I can move the train table and nothing falls. My baby has pulled on the tracks and they don't come apart, that makes my 2 year old happy. I needed 2 boxes for the 130 piece railway set I ordered. It's better than glue because you can still take them apart and set the tracks up any way you want whenever you want.
This is an absolute must have if you have a wood train set. It works wonderfully. Before we bought these clips my 2 year old would have his train track apart in just a few minutes. Since we added these clips to the track we have nearly eliminated all problems with the track coming apart. You won't be sorry you bought this. I only needed one set of clips mostly for on elevated sections of the track.

We bought the go go bus and garbage truck. The kids love them- they are easy to use and durable. The bus is a little noisier than the truck. The problem is that they are set to the same frequency-27 mhz. The controller for the bus also controls the garbage truck when both are on. The reason we bought them is so two kids could use them together
This is a good first remote car. My 2 1/2 year old loved it. His older cousins even loved it (age 4, 7&10). Only reason for 4 stars is the fact that it is advertised for 2+, but it comes w/ the 3+ small parts warning. However, in looking at the unit, it does not appear to have any thing that could easily come off.

wonderful train set, works well and seems to be made to last. this is a train to be handed down from generation to generation. nothing to complain about!
With the slightest touch, the track falls out of place. Spend the extra money, and purchase the "O" gauge train set by Lionel. It is a much better product, and your kids will have enjoy it much more than its plastic "G" gauge" counterpart.

It's fun watching those wheels and drive rods turn and listening to the clickety clack of the metal wheels on the metal rails. With the Fast Track system it is easier to make good track connections. The engine is nicely detailed, heavy and stable. After checking out some other train prices, I think this train is fairly priced. No significant problems after a month's usage.
My son really likes it, I just hope it is built to last a lifetime like prior American made Lionel trains. For being a China product it is very expensive. The engine afer some use doesn't start up as smoothly as it did out of the box and it doesn't seem to go as fast for the same amount of power. I hope this isn't a sign of poor quality...
We really like the set - it's very hearty, nicely presented, great paint, strong and appears long-lasting. The only thing we didn't like was the sound, so we jumped through a few hoops and found a separate kit elsewhere and custom installed it ourselves. Truly awesome now!!!

This was a hit at Christmas time. The whole family played and raced each other. After christmas was another story. Our 5 and 7 year old would love to play it but dad wasn't around to help build them a cool track. Sure they could build it to some extent but not the way that dad did. The quality of the toy is excellent and we will keep it forever we just know until the kids are a bit older it is a track to be used with dad.
We bought this toy for our 7 year old son. He was constantly taking his Hotwheel tracks apart to reassemble but they only went together one way. The Darda tracks are great because they can be used the way the directions state or made into a unique design.

The only negatives we have had in 6 months are that we were unable to fit the pieces back into the storage box so we had to get a bigger box. Also, my son has twisted one or two pieces to the point where they have broken.

Surprisingly, though, I still think this is the best car track ever and I do
