(Nice scooter....too bad it didn't spark well.)
『The scooter itself is great. It is easy to put together, folds up nicely, and feels very solid. The only real problem is that you don't get the same kind of sparks as you see on television, and I would have been better off tying some sparklers to it while my son was riding on it. I would have saved a lot of money and replacements would have been cheap and easy to find. The sparks that come out are very weak, which was a real disappointment for my son. Hopefully this was a lesson for him not to believe what he sees on television commercials. I suppose if he were riding down hill on a really rough roadway and he put all of his weight down, he MIGHT be able to get some decent sparks. The problem is that putting that kind of pressure on the scooter would seriously unbalance the rider and create an safe situation. Also, I don't know how stable this would be going down a really steep hill, again, possibly creating an unsafe situation. Of course, I wouldn't recommend tying sparklers to it either (I was being a bit sarcastic). It's really too bad, because this would be a great idea for kids. I would save your money and buy a regular Razor scooter.』

『I purchased this for my grandson because he seemed to be excited about the TV commercial. Flames high behind the kid. I helped him put it together and we went out to see for ourselves. Wow, what a disappointment. He could have drug a chain behind him and achieved the same result. He played on it for less than 20 minutes and came in to tell me the "sparks" were gone. Sure enough, no sparks and time to change the sparkler box. I called about this and was told that if you use the brakes, the box will wear down quickly. Ahh, within 20 minutes? No, this was unacceptable. I sent it back and purchased a regular Razor scooter from a local dealer at a much lower price and no sparkler replacement to be purchased. My issue is not with the scooter itself just the ripoff gimmick of the sparks. The scooter is great and my grandson enjoys it a lot. I am saying--don't waste your money on the sparkler part. I notice there are no more ads for it lately. Does that say it for me?』

『My nephew bought this for his two little boys. Since both boys are very young (<18 mos), both need seatbelts when riding around in it. Within about two months of getting it, three of the four seatbelt straps had pulled away from the plastic and couldn't be put back. And it's also, as others have mentioned, rather hard to pull, especially with two children in it. If the seatbelts aren't needed, it's not a bad toy, but if they're important to you, try something else.』

『I have fond memories of barreling down a hill in my radio flier, wrecking it, and dragging it back up the hill to do it all over again. The wagon I had was the town and country and it has been used and abused. I am now 30 and my parents still use the wagon to haul stuff around it works great. I bought this wagon expecting the same great experience and was dissapointed. It seems very durable and I like the seats with the seatbelts (primarially the reason I bought it). My main complaint is with the front wheels. I understand that you cant steer it while sitting in the wagon but the wheels when I am pulling my son dont track straight&they just begin wobbling thus shaking the wagon. This is a major shortcoming in my opinion and is a significant design flaw (which earned this product the low rating). We will be getting one of the other wagons that have traditional wheels and axles and I would suggest that anyone reading this review do the same.』

『We've had this wagon for over 5 years and it has been wonderful. It is very sturdy, durable&safe for little ones....and bigger kids too! It has a nice handle for parents to pull that moves up and down to adjust to your height(we're tall so it helps).

The wagon has seat backs that flip up or down depending on how you want to use the wagon. There are two seat backs that flip up, each seat has a locking seat belt and a cup holder. The kids sit knee to knee, face to face, (which caused some problems but nothing unusual)and are very safe. If you put the two seats down the wagon is the typical flat bed to lay in, tote things in, store water baloons,carry Girl Scout Cookies to neighbors, tote bags of Mom's garden supplies, etc. We have used this wagon for every thing you can think of and more! It has been to the beach, the desert, parks, etc. Just rinse it off and it's ready for something new. I like that the handle flips all the way around the wagon to fold up so that it can go in the back of my vehichle easily. I am not sure that we will ever get rid of this wagon!』

『My son wanted one of these motor scooters for his birthday but I didnt want to spend [...] This was the perfect price, perfect color (blue) and perfect gift. He still has a smile on his face.』

(My daughter loves it!)
『We gave this to our 13 yr old daughter as a gift about 4 months ago. She loves it! She scoots around the neighborhood on her own. It has also cut down on my carpooling.

She rides it to school at least once a week and to her after-school activities.

If the battery runs out while she is on it, she just uses her legs and scoots home as if it were a non-electric scooter. It's light enough to carry up the stairs also.

You have to remember to plug it in at night so it will always be charged. One morning it wouldn't work even though it had been plugged in all night. We thought the battery was dead but after some thought we pressed the reset button and it was good to go.

It goes a bit slower going up hills and at the end of its charge.

Easy to assemble.

My daughter's only complaint is that people stop her in the street and ask her where she got her scooter, how much it costs and if they can ride it too....』

The scooter is best for riding on smooth level surfaces and does not do well driving into a driveway or up onto a sidewalk as it tends to "bottom out". The speeds worry me a little, but then I realize they go just as fast or faster on their bikes.』

『Parents, this helmet is worth every penny. My son escaped critical, if not fatal injury thanks to this helmet. Long story short, my 10 year old was moving along at about 15 mph on his electric scooter when a younger child ran in front of him. While avoiding the child, he lost control of his scooter, hit a curb, flipped over the handle bars and smashed his head on the trailer hitch of a parked truck. The point of impact was on the lower back of his head where many helmets do not cover. Thanks to the design of this helmet, it absorbed the brunt of the impact. While he did suffer a serious concussion, it could have ended tragically had it not been for the extra protection this helmet provided. I'd not hesitate to recommend this helmet to other parents. Having said that, whichever helmet you decide to purchase, make sure it protects the entire head!』

You saved my son's Life
On August 31st my 10-year-old son, named Quincy, was racing down a hill on his bicycle. As he came to bottom of the hill there was a stop sign but he was riding to fast to yield to the oncoming vehicle. Within seconds, he and a small truck collided. As he hit the tuck, putting a 6 inch dent in the front fender, he was then thrown into the windshield and fell to the ground unconscious. Overall, the accident caused a mild concussion, a lot of bruises and abrasions and a broken right arm. Thankfully an abdominal CT showed no internal injuries.
After going to the ER by ambulance we were discharged and returned home. Before leaving the hospital parking lot, I thought I would take a moment and look at his helmet. Oddly, there was a wrinkle across the back of his helmet. I showed it to the ER doctor and he stated that without the safety the helmet my son would have had some level of head trauma. Wow, what a miracle!
I quickly recalled, that only about 6 weeks earlier, I purchased two Razor V-17 helmets--one for him and another for his older brother. At the time I was only going to buy one for his older brother but I remember having a distinct impression to buy one for him also. I am so grateful I did. When I consider how most people rely on a high power for direction their life, I too believe that a higher power, who I call the Holy Spirit, had impressed upon my mind to purchase this extra helmet. I have been raised a member of the Mormon Church or who is known as (The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints) and taught that the Lord knows all things and understands our lives and what transpires daily. Little did I know that the Lord knew events that would transpire in my son's life in the few days that would follow. I will be eternally grateful for the Saviors' understanding and knowledge of our life on this earth. He really wants us to be happy and never wants us to suffer and feel pain and sorrow. In just a few seconds or with a slightly different decision on my part it could have changed the course of the life of my son and our family.
I would like to thank Razor for the safety that their helmet gave my son. My small boy's life could have been changed forever. I am so grateful for the people that have engineered the helmet he wore that day. Thank you, Thank you, with all my heart.

(A review of skateboards, RipStiks, Waves, WhipTides, Xgliders, PowerWings, Bladeboards, PumpRockrs, etc.)
『This is a comparison or description of most types of boards based on the experiences of a 48yo dad, my 15yo son, and my 9yo daughter (keeping within Amazon's 1000-word limit):

Skateboard - There are many tricks that can be done on skateboards, but we feel that casterboards are way more fun. The Soularc Skateboard has two curved decks (one on top of the other) for a springy carving feel. The Snakeboard had two independent platforms, but it's no longer made. The Streetboard has three decks (the outer ones pivot to propel you), and you can strap your feet onto it. The Alterskate uses a swivel mechanism to propel you and do tight spins. Longboards are longer and wider skateboards.

RipStik - Kind of like a skateboard but with two smaller decks connected by a "torsion bar," and with only two inline wheels which swivel 360 degrees on casters. It seems safer than a skateboard because it doesn't shoot out from under you very easily (it just flops over onto its side). The wheels wear down quickly (see "A note about the wheels" below), but it's WAY more fun than a skateboard! After a year I took apart the casters with a wrench and cleaned them, then discovered that you can't do this with a Wave Board, giving the RipStik a slight advantage over the Wave. The RipStik "G" has an aluminum tube for doing grinds. The RipStik DLX has the aluminum tube plus some design features for higher kick-flips and smoother landings.

Wave - Essentially the same as a RipStik. The Wave Ripple is narrower and shorter to fit younger kids. The ExBoard, X-Board, EssBoard, and VigorBoard appear to be different names for the Wave in different countries. The RollerSurfer is a skateboard deck cut in two, with a crossbar and two casterwheels, as a cross between a skateboard and a Wave.

WhipTide - Similar to a RipStik, but with four inline wheels. The crossbar bends up-down and side-to-side, unlike a RipStik. It does tighter spins than a RipStik, which are fun but can throw you off-balance if you're not careful. Different tricks are possible with the bendy crossbar, except that you can't lift one wheel off of the ground. There's a slight "wiggle" motion as you go faster. I'm more aggressive on the RipStik and Wave since they don't wiggle, but my daughter prefers the wiggle in the WhipTide because it makes her go faster. The Alive Board appears to be the British version of a WhipTide. The Hurricane Board appears to be a WhipTide but with only two inline wheels.

Xglider (Xlider) - It's actually two separate (unattached) decks, so it's a bit tricky to learn and easy to lose your balance or do the splits. However, this allows for different tricks and tighter spins than a RipStik. You can't set it down and step on and go, like with other casterboards. Instead, you set the decks onto the ground just right, then carefully step onto them one at a time, then go. Freeline Skates are similar, but the wheels aren't on casters and don't spin 360 degrees. The OrbitWheel has separate decks as well, but your feet are *inside* the wheels.

PowerWing - Younger kids seem to like it, and it has safer features than casterboards (three wheels for more stability, a handlebar to hold onto and steer with, and handlebar brakes). You face forward and move your hips side-to-side, but on casterboards you face sideways and use a twisting movement with your hips. The weight limit is 143 lbs, so it's not for older kids and adults. It's easy to lean back and flip over, but with practice this allows doing wheelies. Some PowerWings have two safety bars at the back to prevent flipping over. The Rip Rider 360 is similar, but with a big plastic wheel in front with pedals, and kids ride it sitting down. The Trikke and "Slider The Unscooter" are also three-wheeled, but with unique methods of propulsion.

Bladeboard - Similar to a RipStik, but the casters are designed differently. The videos look fun, but we were disappointed in it. We cleaned and lubricated the casters, and put in new bearings, but it still feels sluggish and noisy compared to the RipStik. Bladeboards don't appear to be manufactured anymore.

PumpRockr - A skateboard with one caster wheel in front. Feels sluggish and can't make tight turns like a casterboard can. The T-Board is a skateboard with two caster wheels, but not as maneuverable as the RipStik/Wave/WhipTide. The OBoard appears to be a PumpRockr.


Bottom line, based on our experiences: The RipStik and Wave are virtually identical. The RipStik, Wave, and WhipTide are our favorite boards which we use almost exclusively. The Xglider is fun, but harder to master. The PowerWing is fun for younger kids. The Bladeboard was disappointing. The PumpRockr is just as sluggish as a skateboard on a level street.


A note about the wheels:
Our Xglider wheels aren't worn down at all, so I took two Xglider wheels and put them on our RipStik, and put the worn-down RipStik wheels on our Xglider. As strange as it sounds, if I didn't know that the wheels were swapped then I might not have noticed any difference in the RipStik or the Xglider. The worn wheels don't really impair the ride on either board. After 20 minutes on the RipStik using the good Xglider wheels, the rear wheel had become worn flat! It's something about the RipStik and Wave which wears down the wheels, but they are still fun even when the wheels are worn down (until it becomes excessive). We use our WhipTide as much as our RipStik and Wave, but the WhipTide wheels don't show much wear.


For some videos of us playing a casterboard game that we invented, go to YouTube and search for "Caster Soccer" (four videos). Another fun game is playing "tag" on casterboards. You can't really do these things with most skateboards!

『The fun parts of the toy are the clicky toys on it and the trunk.

It's not good for a new walker because it pushes too easily and runs away from the slowly walking kid, who then falls.

It's not good for riding because the back wheels stick out too far. The kid's feet hit/get run over by the back wheels. My kid can only get it to go backwards. Older kids can ride it, but it's pretty low to the ground for them.

We've had it 3 years and it's durable. Nothing's broken off and the locking mechanism between walker/rider function is still reliable. My 1st kid never cared, but now that the 2nd really wants to ride it I'm going to buy a different one.

My husband-to-be assembled this toy and my son was so excited. The moment my son sat on it we knew we'd been scammed out of the money we paid for it. The main problem is the back end is too wide. The wide back end interferes with the backward movement of his legs and therefore there was no way he can propel the scooter forward. The narrow front seat with wide back end is a major design flaw and I find it hard to believe that this toy made it out of the design and testing stages at Hasbro Playskool.

Additional problems: The wheels are extremely slippery plastic; it rides too low to the ground, and once assembled it cannot be disassembled, placed back into the box and returned to the store for a refund!』
