(Bad Buy) 『We bought the helment the size smaller than this for my 2 1/2 year old daughter when we bought her first Big girl bike 16". Anyways, the smaller size wouldn't even fit her head!! I don't think her head is big by any means. So we went and exchanged it for this. This one is just as bad. The pads are cool but, the helments adhesive came off the first time she wore it and the pads will scratch her if she isn't wearing pants and a long sleeve shirt! DONT BUY!』
(Pretty much worthless) 『Our 4 year old received this for a birthday present. The helmet is ok, except that the adhesive pads inside came off the first wearing (and the adhesive got in her hair - what a mess!). The knee and elbow pads are too stiff to stay on her knees and elbows. And they are just a plastic bubble. The first time she fell, the plastic shattered on one of them and made it worthless and dangerous for further use.
The big sell point was that it was pink and had the Princesses on it. Why can't Disney make quality products? They sure charge enough!』
(This item is junk) 『Of course the real draw for this item is that it has the disney princesses on it. Let face it, you could put disney princesses on a piece of garbage and people will buy it. My daughter loved this when we gave it to her, but almost immediately the stickers popped off, the seams on the edge of the helmet were coming loose, and the strap that goes under the chin is cumbersome at best. I cannot say she has even worn the knee and elbow pads, as they are stiff and uncomfortable. Makes you wonder if anyone who makes this stuff actually tries it to see if it's any good. Do I feel ripped off? Yep. I do have to say that the best part of this whole set was the bicycle bell. It's cute and actually works. As for the rest, I am sure it will be resting at the bottom of my trash can soon. Don't buy it! Just say no!』
(ugly and useless) 『the helmats are in a weird shape and the pats are so stiff they cant work but the bells cool』 『Here's the best way to keep your little princess safe while riding her bicycle or rollerblading. This bicycle safety kit for girls includes a highly visible pink helmet and bright pink-and-purple knee and elbow pads adorned with Disney's three most popular princesses--Snow White, Cinderella, and the Little Mermaid--plus a clip-on bike bell with a loud ring. Parents will feel comfortable knowing that the helmet is lined with expanded polystyrene foam that provides the maximum impact absorption if kids have a fall. The liner is protected by a durable hard-plastic outer shell. The helmet also has a built-in sun visor, air circulation vents to prevent overheating, and customizable pads for creating a snug fit so the helmet grows with your child. The knee and elbow pads are made of soft, comfortable nylon and have hard-plastic guards on the exterior for extra protection. Pads secure in back of knees or elbows with two Velcro tabs. This thing is built like a brick...well, you know. Even the hose is reinforced with steel braiding. Operates like a dream and fills tires to rock-hard PSIs in no time. I actually look forward to pumping my tires! Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (Works) 『This coupler has been incredibly hard to find at a reasonable price. For awhile ebay was the only place to get it and they were $35.
They work as they are supposed to. We bought 2 so we wouldn't have to switch back and forth. One bike has a quick release hub the other is just bolted on and both were easy to install. I had to take my rear rack off, though.』

Usually ships in 24 hours Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (Medium duty lock, crumy bracket) 『I bought this lock for my kid's bike. The bike isn't a high end bike, (I got it used for a hundred bucks or so at a garage sale.) so I figure this and a 4 ft 10mm cable for the front wheel, plus the 5mm seat cable ought to at least make thieves try the next bike over first. The lock is considerably thicker than the older Kryptonite Evolution LS U-Lock lock I got when I traded back my old Kryptonite LS cylinder key lock. And that trade in is the reason I've kept buying Kryptonite locks. Talk about doing the right thing! Anyway back to this lock. It's rated "9" which isn't as high as the New York version but it looks reasonably tough.
On the key breakage, the folks at Kryptonite must read these reviews because mine came with a note saying, "Don't force the key!". And I've got another Kryptonite lock Kryptonite New York Noose 1213 Chain Bicycle Lock with Evolution Series 4 Disc Lock Chain Bicycle Lock (4-Foot x 3-Inch) and I ride a lot, and I've had no problems with the lock. Which is a good thing because cutting that chain and lock off my bike would be a royal pain. This key looks similar so I'm not worried. However I will remind the kid to not force the lock.
On the negative side, the plastic dohicky for holding the lock on the bike sucks. Just plain poor design. My recommendation is to put the lock in your shoulder bag, or panniers. It's heavy but you'll be happier than trying to make this holder work. I also slid the silver bit off the lock, why carry it around when you aren't going to use it?』
(Powerful lock with a few annoyances) 『Overall, I would say this lock is really good. It's going to protect your bike very well in most locales. For extra safety I got a cable lock that I loop through this and around other portions of my bike. I'm pretty satisfied with it so far, but I will go over the items that bother me about it. The blue LED key is also pretty awesome.
The biggest issue is it might not fit all bike models well, both in locking and mounting it on the bracket. I ride a Cannondale Quick series bike. I was hoping this would fit around both the Seat Tube and the rear tire for good security, but in most situations it is only able to fit around the Seat Tube because the lock is fairly narrow. If I want it to fit around both I have to position it at a skewed angle which usually isn't possible in many locking situations.
As for attaching the mounting bracket: the Top Tube and Down Tube on this bike model are not cylindrical, instead they are shaped like a triangle, which means you can't mount this lock on either. Having a water bottle cage on either the Seat tube or down tube also makes mounting this bracket pretty difficult. It took me over an HOUR of deep frustration to finally find a place on my bike to mount the bracket and lock where it wouldn't get in the way of my legs when riding. It was midway down on the left side of the Seat Tube with the U of the lock facing upward, but I also had to angle the bracket out away from the bike at a really weird angle, I also had to loosen and angle the silver bracket mount on the lock itself differently. If you don't plan on bracket mounting this lock then you can ignore all this, but if you do, be warned, you might be in for a LOT of aggravation. Now that it's mounted it works fine, no problems.
The Kryptonite key replacement/registration is a nice feature but a bit annoying. You goto their website, which is unsecured (very obnoxious) and register your personal info and key serial #, except there are two numbers printed on the key and I'm not sure which is the serial.
The anti-theft protection offer is also better than it sounds, as you have to jump through a LOT of hoops to benefit from it if your bike is ever stolen.』
(Great Product) 『I live in Eugene OR and just got a new Long Haul Trucker Surly of course and needed a good lock to make me feel at ease. It's done its job!』
(Broke... Perhaps for the best.) 『First off, this lock got jammed in the locked position the fist day I had it. In a way, I was relieved that I had a good excuse to send it back, because it was not the right lock for me.
Choosing the right bike lock is not easy. If you live in a high crime area (NYC in my case) and have a relatively expensive bike (a carbon fiber Trek in my case) you don't want to buy something that seems easy to cut. This is why I opted for the Evolution Series 4. I am sure that it would not have been cut, but there are some huge trade-offs. First and foremost, this lock is very heavy. For me, it was not worth lugging this lock around.
If you are parking your bike outside, only in the day and in the evening, it seems unlikely that your bike will be taken by someone spending an hour or two cutting through a U-Lock. Something less intense than the Evolution Series 4 will probably work for you.
I replaced the lock with the Kryptonite Series 2 and I am extremely happy with it. I have not had any lock problems and it seems secure enough for my purposes.』
(Great lock, mediocre plastic.) 『I can only assume the lock has been doing it's job, since my bike is still in my possession. Although I can't guarantee that it's actually been a target of theft :P
My real problem is the adapter they provide to clip to the frame of your bike. In temperatures above 50 degrees its fine, but it shrinks when it gets cold and the lock becomes difficult to attach to the frame. I park the bike below 40 degrees, but these cold post-Winter mornings tend to be a pain since the cold makes my hands hurt and even more so when the lock flies off the adapter from me pulling on it and I bust my knuckles open. If you bike in colder climates I'd recommend finding another way of attaching the lock to your bike when you're riding.』 『Kryptonite Series 4 Evolution U-Locks made of 14mm, hardened MAX-Performance steel shackle with double deadbolt design.』 『Big city cyclists need big city protection, as would-be thieves aren't intimidated by flimsy cables or weak U-locks. That's why serious cyclists turn to Kryptonite for their security needs. The Evolution Series 4 U-lock is a cut above other bike locks, with a 14mm hardened Max-Performance steel shackle designed to resist both cutters and leverage attacks. Ideal for anyone who lives in moderate to high crime areas, the Series 4 received a 9 on the Kryptonite 1-12 lock comparison system, which ranks the varying levels of security offered by the company's product range. A lock that ranks 1 on the Kryptonite scale might work if you live in the burbs and have a Rottweiler parked next to your bike or motorcycle. A lock that ranks 12, however, is built for maximum deterrence. The Series 4 also offers such security-enhancing features as a double deadbolt locking mechanism for extensive holding power; a disc-style cylinder with more than one million key variations; a reinforced anti-drill/pull cylinder protection system; and a center key location with a dual overhead cam locking mechanism that defends against leverage attacks. The Series 4 is about more than just security, however, with a sliding dustcover that protects and extends cylinder life, anti-rattle bumpers that reduce noise during transport, and versatile EZ mount transportation bracket. And as a bonus, the lock comes with three keys, one of which is lighted with a high-intensity bulb that makes it easy to unlock the Series 4 after dark. The lock measures 4 by 9 inches.
The Legendary Durability of Kryptonite Locks The first big test for Kryptonite locks came in 1972, when Kryptonite founder Michael Zane directed the Second Avenue Bicycle Shop in New York City to lock a three-speed bicycle to a signpost in Greenwich Village. Although thieves immediately stripped all of the bicycle's removable parts, the bicycle itself remained for 30 days and 30 nights. The publicity gave Kryptonite the boost it needed and forever changed the face of bicycle security. Twenty-two years later, Kryptonite returned to the streets of the Big Apple to test its latest innovation, the New York lock. In April 1994, theNew York Postlaid down the ultimate challenge: Could Kryptonite's New York lock last 48 hours on the toughest streets of New York? In a city where more than 100,000 bikes are stolen each year, Kryptonite and thePostlocked a brand new, bright green Univega road bike worth $600 to a parking meter in the East Village--the Bermuda Triangle of New York bicycle thievery. For a full 48 hours, the bike remained locked on the corner of Avenue A and 11th Street. Zane and Neil McDaid, director of product development and design for Kryptonite, watched from around the corner as the bike came under every possible means of assault, stumping thieves at every turn. After 48 hours the bike remained intact except for the gear derailleur, which had been stripped off. The lock showed definite signs of abuse, but it had not failed. The New York lock had met thePost's challenge.
Not satisfied with the length of the test, Zane moved the bike to SoHo for another six days and, finally, uptown near the Lincoln Center. Even in these high-theft areas the properly locked bike lasted another three weeks before being pulled off the streets by Zane and McDaid. ThePostalso ran the New York lock through a battery of street tests using common bike theft tools: a 4-foot bolt cutter, a crowbar, and a hammer. The non-Kryptonite locks cracked in seconds, but all methods failed on the New York lock, even the monstrous bolt cutter, which was rendered useless with large dents in its jaws.
About Kryptonite In the early 1970s, Michael Zane was a free-spirited, bearded kid with a VW van and a big idea for a new kind of lock. He traveled thousands of miles showing the unique U-shaped locking device and spreading his passion for bicycle security to bike dealers all around the country and forged lifetime relationships. The company soon expanded its product line to include power sports, hardware, and snow sports security. Through innovative product designs, cutting-edge marketing savvy, legendary customer service, and pure fanaticism for security, Kryptonite grew with a cult-like following.
In 2001, the company that was started in a VW van was purchased by industry giant Ingersoll Rand and became a flagship brand in the company's Security Technologies sector. Publications such asBicycling,Fortune,The Wall Street Journal,US News&World Report, and a host of others continued to tout Kryptonite products as the best on the market. The company's dedication to its customers is best represented by its actions during the fall of 2004, when it was discovered that the industry-standard tubular cylinder could be compromised, at times, with a household item. Kryptonite flew into action, created a voluntary lock exchange program, and replaced more than 400,000 locks in 21 countries for free. In essence, the company redesigned the equivalent of nine years worth of new products in just 10 short months. Kryptonite is the only company in the world that offered such a comprehensive plan to customers, taking its "legendary customer service" pledge to new heights.

The mounting bracket is easy enough to install which ever type you need. Battery change is no problem something they fixed from the 3.0 that I had read was a downer. Only had it for about a month so can't say anything on wear and tear yet. However it is very bright and i feel a bit safer knowing this thing is on the rear of my bike.』
(VERY Bright Light) 『Wow. This is the brightest light I have ever seen for a bike tail light. I first tried the Cannondale Hindsight Ultra and really like the amount of LED's it had. After the first ride however the light popped right out of it's holder and fell into the street immediately getting run over by several cars. I knew I would not be getting that light again. So I looked at the Mars 4.0 and even though it doesn't have as many LED's it practically burned out my retinas when I turned it on. This light is beyond bright. The clip is also much sturdier and that light isn't going anywhere. I have to say I was so impressed I bought 2 more, one for my mountain bike and one for my daughters bike. I would highly recommend this to anyone wanting to be seen on the road.』
(Good overall) 『Bright light. Nice mounting options. The only drawback - the button is very small, that is why I gave it only 4 stars.』
(Seriously?) 『People compare this rear light to the Bike Planet Superflash. It's not comparable.
Blackburn Mars 4.0 offers 1 Watt light in 2 functions. Solid and flash modes. Light is much brighter than the Superflash. I can see this light from many blocks away.
However, what people like on Superflash is the crazy flash mode. Although the intensity of the light is lower, it has a good flashing system for the vehicles to notice you easily. Blackburn Mars 4.0 has the steady flashing mode, which I think is fine, in my personal opinion. I prefer Mars 4.0 over the Superflash.
I use Bike Planet Blaze for the headlight. That is probably the best headlight available for the price. No other in price range can beat it.』
(Very Bright But Could Be Improved) 『The brightest integrated battery taillight I have seen when viewed directly from behind. Much brighter than the Planet Bike Superflash by direct comparison. Can even be used as a night vision flashlight when off of the bike and it is brighter than most dedicated night vision flashlights I have tried when so used. Quite compact design similar in overall size to the Planet Bike Superflash. As another reviewer noted the only taillight that is brighter is the DiNotte and it starts at $130 or so and requires an external battery pack.
Like most bright bike taillights the brightest beam is quite narrow so it is less visible when viewed from a side angle. I would prefer that the two side LEDs be brighter than they are for added side visibility. The side LEDs on my unit appear to be more green than amber in color.
The light includes a rack mount compatible with two vertical hole reflector mounts as found on many bike cargo racks sold in the USA. The rack mount is not compatible with European bike racks which have two horizontal holes typically spaced 50mm apart for reflector or light mounting such as Tubus racks. The optional Planet bike tail light rack mount is in contrast designed to fit either type of rack light mount but is not included as standard with the Planet bike light.
The on/off/mode select switch is quite small and difficult to use with gloves on, an annoyance in my opinion.
Improvements I would like to see:
Brighter side LEDs Larger switch More versatile rack mount bracket
Overall I am impressed with the light output of the unit for its size and weight. If you want a bright taillight at reasonable cost this is currently THE brightest I am aware of. I have not had it long enough to see what battery life is going to be.』 『1 Watt Ultra Bright Red LED. 2 Amber Side LEDs. 50 hour runtime steady; 150 hour runtime flash. No tool battery installation. It works well, and really speeds up charging so the kids can spend more time driving around, and less time waiting for the batteries to charge. It has a light that blinks green when charging, and lights solid green once the batteries are fully charged, which is helpful. However you still need to unplug the charger after a certain amount of time. The only improvement would be if the charger could automatically stop charging once the batteries are fully charged. Otherwise you have to babysit the charger or set a reminder so you don't forget. If you over-charge your batteries you will severely reduce their life. It has good weight and feels very sturdy and well made - I feel confident in leaving my bike in any bike rack around town. Also, having quick releases on both my wheels, the additional cable is very convenient.
I've read that people have broken keys inside their locks, but to be honest - I dont know how people are doing this. If you insert the key in all the way, the key will turn very easily in both directions. The only time the lock gives tension is if the U-rod is not fully inserted into the locking mechanism (letting you know that you're not closing the lock properly). Admittedly, I was hesitant to buy this lock because of all the broken key issues I've read, but once I got my hands on the lock - my doubt went away.
Overall, love the lock. Its small and fits right in my backpack with the cable. The only downside is the cheap strap the lock comes with. We have a roughly paved 1.5 mile running course around the neighborhood, and I wanted to find a ride for Jr that he could burn off some cals while I struggle through my knee-rehab walks. I checked out other models at the local stores and found a common problem. Hard plastic wheels and short wheelbases/frames. Not a good combination for a tall child and a rough path. The air-filled tires and longer frame on this car solved both of those issues, and I can report it rides VERY WELL on our path.
It's no picnic to assemble, and as the other review noted, the build quality isn't great, but let's be realistic about expectations. The tires/rims alone would run $50+ in a hardware store (they're basically wheelbarrow tires)so that doesn't leave much for quality control. Any child's bike runs $50+, that gets you a frame with chains/pedals. $200 is not a bargain, but now at $160, it's approaching a must have. While not drilled particularly well, and I can see how a bolt/hole might be missing, but it is very sturdy, and that's important for an abusive rider.
Never satisfied, I've already modded the unit. First prbblem...hills. My little guy can't pedal up the ones on our course, and although the back of seat has a handle on it, bending over to offer a little assistance was a back breaker. I used some conduit and fashioned a tall, U shaped push handle, attached it to the back of the seat with the conduit straps (4). Covered with standard pipe insulation. Works like a champ!! $5 in materials, but I already owned a conduit bender.
Something to look out for...the brake works, but it's not intuitive for a 5-year old. They respond to terror on the downhill but putting their feet down Flintstone style. I had to teach Jr how to use the brake and reinforce it very often by playing a little "brake" game on the flats. He's got it now, but the first run was spooky, worsened by the fact you have to take one hand off the wheel to use the brake. Make sure Jr has that nailed BEFORE the first downhill! No seat belt either...I'm thinking of a velcro strap solution like the one he has on his battery powered yard jeep.
Regarding the comment about how a 9-year old might only get one season out of it...probably true. It's not a large frame, and the company says 5-9 years. There was a hole missing (5 holes on one side and only 4 on the other) so we couldn't scoot the seat all the way back which we had to do because my daughter didn't fit on the car. Luckily my dad was able to rig the wheel so it will stay on and he also drilled an extra hole so the seat will go all the way back. My daughter is 9 and is probably only going to be able to ride this a few months before she's too tall to ride it any more. I'm pretty upset considering I paid over $200.00 for this. About Planet Bike In November of 1996, Planet Bike was founded in Madison, Wisconsin. In many ways, Planet Bike began as a social experiment that dedicated itself to doing business in a different way. Instead of being just another company that develops and sells products with profit as its end goal, Planet Bike wanted to help bring about positive change for people, their communities, and the environment.
Despite being a simple machine, the people at Planet Bike have always believed that the bicycle has great potential to help improve the world and the lives of the people in it. From the start, they have embraced an alternative corporate purpose which seeks to help get more people on bicycles by making communities friendlier places for the self-propelled. By donating 25% of company profits to causes that promote and facilitate bicycle usage, Planet Bike hopes to make an impact.
Social experiments aside, Planet Bike was born from the heart of a cyclist with a goal of making innovative, high quality, and practical bicycle accessories. Simply put, they strive to design and develop the best bicycle products in the world. In the company's short ten year history, they have made important product innovations within the bicycle industry. Advancements include the 4-line computer which is now a standard in the industry and the world's first self-contained HID light. Not bad for a company that ten years ago started as a one man operation. Today, while still a small company, Planet Bike continues to evolve and improve their product line with the goal of always striving to build accessories that make it easier for people to ride their bikes. Since 1996, Planet Bike's financial support of the grassroots bicycle movement has totaled $500,000. By 2010, they have made a goal to donate $1 million to organizations that are dedicated to making America a friendlier place for cyclists.
