(The Little Vampire DVD)
『This is a darling little movie that not only my 6-year-old grandson adores, but we also enjoy it. It teaches one about friendships and is just a very enjoyable movie.』

(The Little Vampire with Jonathan Lipnicki)
『I have seen this one on HBO, SHOWTIME, or THE MOVIE CHANNEL. I purchased this movie at BIG LOTS! for 3 dollars. It is a fun family movie. I don't think it is scary, meaning that vampires are usually a scary subject. Watching some of the documentaries about vampires and BLADE series with Wesley Snipes, can be put this subject into an adult area in my opinion. Death, killing, disintegrating to ashes.』

(Darling Movie)
『Cute, funny, happy, clean movie. Even the bad guys are funny. Something most ages can enjoy, but a little too frightening for 4 year-olds.』

(the Little Vampire)
『I got it for my grandkids and they seem to like it enough. Not academy award stuff, but cute, family entertainment.』

(cute factor works)
『Jonathan Lipnicki should never have been allowed to grow up, he's just to cute. This is great fun for kids and adults.(Vampire Cows, need I say more.)』
『Jonathan Lipnicki (Jerry Maguire, Stuart Little) stars as 9-year-old Tony who befriends a young vampire named Rudolph who asks Tony to help him find an ancient amulet that will grant Rudolph and his family their ultimate wish ... to be human again.

The Little Vampireis excellently acted and great to look at.Stuart Little's Jonathan Lipnicki carries, on his pint-sized shoulders, his every scene as 8-year-old Tony, befriender of vampires, and the Scottish setting lends itself nicely to spookiness. But where this video earns most points is in the plot department. A continent away from his native California, Tony's having a tough time making new friends when a band of vagabond vampires enters his life through his bedroom window. The encounter seems pure coincidence at first, but then the scary truth surfaces: Tony, though he's not a vampire himself, has "sympathy for our kind," as the dad of the bat-linked brood puts it. Visions of vampire happenings from generations past invade the third-grader's consciousness, and they hold the key to the clan's current gypsy-like predicament. Through his clairvoyance and, by extension, the discovery of a long-lost amulet, the mostly benevolent bloodsuckers are able to reclaim their rightful status as proper cave dwellers in their homeland. Clueless-parent predicaments abound and are cleverer than most--Tony's mom and dad smirk at their son's vampire-obsessed imagination until the cape-draped heads of the clan drop by for a visit--and the gang's adventures eluding a bumbling vampire hunter are genuinely chuckleworthy. At-home Twizzler munchers ages 8 and older won't soon tire of this charmer of a Transylvanian transplant.--Tammy La Gorce

(Wolfbane and silver)
『"Even a man who is pure in heart/And says his prayers by night/May become a wolf/When the wolfbane blooms/And the autumn moon is bright..."

Sure, Dracula gave a face and a mythology to the vampire in the 1800s, but the werewolf didn't get similar treatment for quite some time. It was only with "The Wolfman" that the werewolf got his due, creating the template for lycanthropes everywhere -- a haunting, atmospheric story about a mildly creepy man who (through no fault of his own) turns into an unholy mixture of man and beast.

Larry Talbot (Lon Chaney Jr) returns to his ancestral Welsh home after many years away, to reconcile with his estranged dad who looks nothing like him (Claude Rains). He immediately starts acquainting himself with his old home, including being rather creepy towards a lovely woman named Gwen Conliffe (Evelyn Ankers), who is working at her dad's antique store. He even accompanies Gwen and her friend Jenny to a local gypsy camp to have their fortunes told.

But after having her fortune told, Jenny is horribly killed by a wolf; Larry beats it to death with his silver-topped cane, but not before being bitten. You can probably guess what happens next -- the wolf turns out to be the gypsy fortuneteller (Bela Lugosi), and Larry's bite mysteriously heals overnight. And after being warned by an aged gypsy woman (Maria Ouspenskaya) that he has now contracted the curse of the werewolf, Larry finds himself undergoing a terrible transformation at night... and killing.

It's a sign of how good "The Wolfman" is that its dated special effects (hello, lap dissolve!) and prosthetics don't hamper it as a story -- it's an intelligent, slowly-unfolding story about an ordinary man whose good deed backfires in a big way. It's also less "boo! Scary!" horror than psychological horror -- Larry is left wondering if the dead gypsy passed on his horrific curse, or if all the talk of werewolves has given him clinical lycanthropy. In other words -- is he cursed, or is he insane? Not a fun choice.

And George Waggner wraps the movie in suitable atmosphere -- lots of misty forests, quaint rural villages, shadowy chapels and the occasional outbursts of shrieking and offscreen violence. The beginning is a little awkward (enough canned father-son "reunion" conversations!) but kicks into gear when the characters go wandering off to see the gypsies -- and after that, it's a slow bloody build as all the scientifically impossible things come true, and Larry finds himself increasingly trapped.

And while some of the werewolf stuff (including the famous rhyme) was made up for the movie, it adds a note of mythological creepiness, as well as some lovely incantations ("The way you walked was thorny, through no fault of your own...").

And Lon Chaney Jr. did an excellent job bringing a sympathetic edge to the werewolf, turning convincingly from a jovial engineer/aristocrat to a man haunted by his horrific change. The one problem: he isn't very sympathetic at the beginning, since he basically stalks Gwen (looking in her window with a telescope?) and won't get lost when she tells him to. Ankers gives a good performance as a local love interest, and Ouspenskaya gives a spectacular performance as the old gypsy lady -- eerie, sympathetic to Larry's plight, and with a dry sense of humor.

Despite a slightly creepy lead character, "The Wolfman" is still an enduring classic -- it's no longer exactly scary, but it is deliciously spooky. Definitely a must-see.』

(THE WOLF..STILL THE BEST)
『I CANT EVEN DESCRIBE LON CHANEY! BRILLIANT,ALL CHARACTERS WERE GREAT!!!! THIS IS WHAT IS MISSING NOW A DAYS IN THE MOVIES,GOOD OLD FASHION PLOTS AND GREAT ACTION AND ACTORS,GET IT YOU WONT SURELY REGRET IT,THIS IS AN AMERICAN CLASSIC!! I USE TO WAIT UNTILL IT COMES ON,NOW I OWN IT AND IM GLAD!!!!』

(Tedious and clumsy)
『The Bottom Line:

One of those movies that's labelled a classic even though it's a dated and mediocre film, The Wolf Man feels long even while clocking in at a scant 70 minutes and largely consists of Lon Cheney running around in a ridiculous bear costume; I recognize how significant this movie was (our entire pop cultural idea of the werewolf was pretty much hammered out by this film and its sequels) but it pales in comparison to anything James Whale did in the same time period.

2/4』

(Lon Chaney at his best)
『One of my all time favorite horror movies. Lon Chaney at his best as Larry Talbott/Wolf Man. I was so glad to see that this great classic was on DVD that I purchased immediately, even though it's on VHS, since eventually there will be no more VCR's. Great old wonderful actors and actresses like Marie Ouspenskaya, Claude Rains as Lon Chaney's father. Too bad these wonderful actors are gone. I think Elena Verdugo is the only one left from this great movie. A must buy and see.』

(Even a man who is pure in heart)
『The Wolf Man is one hour and ten minutes long and was released on December 12, 1941. It stars Lon Chaney, Jr. as Larry Talbot/The Wolf Man; by the way he did not get top billing. This movie would be one of three monsters movie that were not based on any literary source. The other two are The Mummy and the Creature From the Black Lagoon. Also Larry Talbot becomes a reluctant monster as well. The Wolf Man probably gives us one of our famous movie quotes:

Even a man who is pure in heart
and says his prayers by night
may become a wolf when the wolfbane blooms
and the autumn moon is bright.

The plot of the movie is simple; Larry Talbot returns home to Talbot Castle after 18 years away. His older brother John had died in a hunting accident and he is next in line to run the family castle. At a gypsy camp with Gwen Conliffe (Evelyn Ankers) and Jenny (Fay Helm), they get their fortune told. Larry and Gwen duck away while Jenny is getting hers done first. Suddenly there hear Jenny scream and Larry rushes to save her. Larry confronts a wolf and kills him with his silver handle walking cane. In the midst of the battle the wolf bites him. Later he finds out that a werewolf has bitten him. Now Larry Talbot becomes a werewolf himself. Larry becomes insane thinking he is a killer. His father (played by Claude Rains) ties him to a chair one evening to prove that he is not a monster and that it is all in his head. Larry insists that his father take the walking cane with him. Gwen has gone look for Larry in the woods where the police are looking for a wolf. Sir John Talbot is in the same woods too. The werewolf shows up and attacks Gwen. Sir John comes to save Jenny. There he encounters the werewolf and the two of them fight it out. Sir John uses the silver handle walking cane to kill the werewolf. The werewolf transform back to Larry right before Sir John eyes. The fight scene at the end of this movie is great and we actually got to witness a killing scene unlike that in Dracula. Lon Chaney, Jr. would be the only actor to play the Wolf Man in any follow up sequels. This is a great movie to watch and the special effects are spectacular. I am giving this an AAAAA+++++.

『he original horror classic that introduced one of the screen's most infamous monsters! Lon Chaney, Jr. portrays Larry Talbot, who returns to his father's (Claude Rains) castle in Wales and meets a beautiful woman (Evelyn Ankers). One fateful night, Talbot escorts her to a local carnival where Jenny's fate is revealed by a mysterious gypsy fortune teller. The dreamlike atmospheres and elaborate settings combined with a chilling musical score make The World Man a masterpiece not only of the genre, but for all time!』
Even a man who is pure in heart,
And says his prayers by night,
May become a wolf when the wolfbane blooms
And the autumn moon is bright.

If you haven't heard this piece of horror-movie doggerel before, you'll never forget it after seeingThe Wolf Manfor two reasons: it's a spooky piece of rhyme and nearly everybody in the picture recites it at one time or another. Set in a fog-bound studio-built Wales,The Wolf Mantells the doom-laden tale of Lawrence Talbot (Lon Chaney Jr.), who returns to the estate of his wealthy father (Claude Rains). (Yes, Chaney's American, but the movie explains this, awkwardly.) Bitten by a werewolf, Talbot suffers the classic fate of the victims of lycanthropy: at the full moon, he turns into a werewolf, a transformation ingeniously devised by makeup maestro Jack Pierce. Pierce was the man who turned Boris Karloff into the Frankenstein monster, and his werewolf makeup became equally famous, with its canine snout and bushy hairdo--and, of course, seriously sharp dental work. The Wolf Manwas a smash hit, giving Universal Pictures a new monster for their already crowded stable, and Chaney found himself following in the footsteps (or paw prints) of his father, who had essayed a monster or two in the silent era. This is a classy horror outing, with strong atmosphere and a thoughtful script by Curt Siodmak--well, except for the stiff romantic bits between Chaney and Evelyn Ankers. It's also got Bela Lugosi (briefly) and Maria Ouspenskaya, the prunelike Russian actress who foretells doom like nobody's business.--Robert Horton

(3 Spooky Tales for Kids)
『This DVD contains three scary episodes from popular children's writer R.L Stine. The first episode, "Attack of the Jack-O'-Lanterns, follows four young kids as they go out trick-or-treating. Lee and Tabby enjoy scaring their friends and this year, they decide to keep up the tradition. But, the tables are turned, and the friends are scared by several scary jack-O'-lanterns.

"Vampire Breath" is the second episode on the DVD. Freddy and Cara are about to celebrate their 13th birthday and decide to snoop for their presents. Instead of finding presents, they discover a hidden door in the basement that hides a scary secret.

The final episode is called "Let's Get Invisible". Max and Noah discover a mysterious mirror located in a hidden room in their house. The mirror has the power to make them invisible. At first, becoming invisible is fun for the boys, but as they continue to experiment, the fun turns to something else.

The R.L. Stine series of books have been favorites of my children for some time, and they enjoyed watching this scary DVD. The episodes are scary, but not so scary as to give them nightmares. I recommend this DVD to anyone who enjoys the R.L. Stine book series. Turn out the lights, curl up in front of the tv, and get ready for some Goosebumps!』

(One of THE most underrated horror movies of all time.)
『I reluctantly popped this into my DVD player not expecting much. I knew going in that it would not have Michael Myers as the villain and would be a completely new story that doesn't have anything to do with the first two films. At one point it was even sold on a "Double Feature" DVD with "Halloween II," which made me think that they weren't selling enough copies of "Halloween III" by itself because it was a terrible movie - kind of like how "Poltergeist III" was grouped as a double feature with "Poltergeist II" on DVD.

I was pleasantly surprised at just how well done this movie is! It's actually pretty darn horrifying! After seeing this movie, it makes me wish that they continued on this route of making different horror stories in subsequent sequels that perhaps take place on Halloween but don't involve Myers.

This movie stands on its own and can perhaps be thought of as a "spin-off" of the other Halloween movies - since we actually see characters in this movie watching the original "Halloween" film on TV a couple different times. It doesn't quite exist in the same universe. But that does not make it any less of a good horror story. If you simply judge it on its own merits and quit being disappointed that Michael Myers isn't in it, you might actually love this movie if you're a fan of classic horror movies.』

(Freddy vs. J...Michael?)
『I'm more of a Freddy Krueger fan myself, not much for Michael Meyers (love the theme music - it's right up there with the Exorcist theme) this Halloween movie was the only one that I liked.
What ever happened to the real monsters in horror movies, Freddy was evil, died, came back....more evil and a monster, Mikey was just a guy who never dies and stalks people/family members in his pajama suit, aside from the freakin' mask, what's so scary about that.

Hmmm...dying in your sleep, a most gruesome death from dreaming or just having really great sex and getting hacked to death.....』

(Good Movie!)
『This is a really good, solid horror movie. If it had been title something else, like Masks, or just Season of the Witch, it probably wouldn't get trashed so much. But it will live in infamy because it carries the Halloween title, without Michael Myers. If I was John Carpenter, I would go back and shoot a couple of insert shots of Michael Myers skulking down a street and insert it back into the film, and call it a SPECIAL EDITION. "HERE's YOUR FREAKIN MICHAEL MYERS!, you Brats!』

(Underrated...)
『Halloween 3 is the only film in the series I hadn't seen until recently. Being a horror fan - and being on a rip of seeing TONS of horror movies these days - I decided to finally ignore the naysayers and pick up a copy. If one can get over the disappointment of a "shapeless" entry, there is a good deal of novelty to be had. Tommy Lee Wallace's entry stands out as a nihilistic riff on Invasion of the Body Snatchers, blending elements of science fiction, horror, and cult legends. Genre stalwart Tom Atkins is perfect as the doomed Challis, as is Dan O'Herlihy as the diabolical mask-maker.

The story, which involves cursed microchips implanted in masks that cause all sorts of supernatural destruction when activated by a tv signal, is a brilliant, brutal metaphor for the downward spiral of a society obsessed with television. The set-pieces are sharp, and the film possesses an overall feeling of dread and unease the later sequels failed to replicate. The plot is unspooled with remarkable dexterity, and the ending is on par with the best of the Halloween films.』

(Watch It Again. . . Or For The 1st Time)
『99% of people you talk to would say they don't enjoy this movie. The funny thing though, is that most of those people have never seen the movie. Ask them what it is about and they will give you the generic cable tv description "a tale about exploding Halloween masks". Wrong!

I know, this movie does not conatin Michael Myers, but so what? Was that stiff slasher character ever really that awesome or fun? This third installment of the Halloween series is both of those things, especially fun. Yes, the plot involving Stonehenge and Halloween masks is goofy and rather nonsensical, but that's part of the enjoyment. It's amazing that people can suspend disbelief and think that an invincible, walking faster than you run, Michael or Jason are stars of great horror flicks and yet still hate this movie. I like Michael Myers, but the fact that he's not here only adds to the depth of this movie since it is not just another slasher film titled Halloween. This movie does have some of the similar evil overtones of the first Halloween movie though. Seeing a kid wearing a mask that turns into snakes, bugs, etc. is pretty mean spirited, as is the fact that these plans of revenge from Cochran (the mad scientistesque bad guy)are basically being put to use against children who ignore the Samhain holiday. An evil movie, a funny movie and an exciting movie. To boot, check out John Carpenter's soundtrack to this movie as it is perhaps the best of the series.』

『In the third HALLOWEEN installment (which has nothing to do with the first two films), a mad warlock hatches an evil plot to enact bloody mass murder. He creates creepy masks which force the wearer to commit violent acts of assassination on the night of Halloween.』
『The oneHalloweensequel in which He doesn't come home,Halloween III: Season of the Witchwas producer John Carpenter's attempt to get the series away from the original's psycho-on-the-loose story line and turn it into a vehicle for more far-fetched Halloween-themed horror tales. Incredibly, the fans voted for more of the same and Carpenter walked away for others to rehash the Michael Myers plot line in a succession of look-alike movies that are still turning up every few years.

After the mysterious death of a toyshop owner, a doctor (Tom Atkins) and the man's daughter (Stacy Nelkin) investigate the Irish-dominated Northern California community of Santa Mira, a company town owned by the Silver Shamrock Novelty corporation. Atkins and Nelkin are typical low-rent horror movie protagonists, dim bulbs who discover anInvasion of the Body Snatchers-style conspiracy involving sharp-suited corporate robots. But guest star Dan O'Herlihy steals the film as a Celtic joke tycoon who hates the way American kids are despoiling the religious spirit of Samhain and decides to teach them a nasty lesson. His scheme, which involves a stolen Stonehenge megalith and a techno-magic spell that turns the heads of TV watchers into writhing masses of snakes and insects, is value for money, and O'Herlihy mixes enough serious malice into the charm to come across as a great screen bad guy.--Kim Newman

(Good DVD, but what's with the packaging?)
『If you have any of the other Goosebumps DVDs, then you already know what to expect; you get a handful of episodes, without any sort of supplemental material. The audio and video are decent, but there's nothing here that's going to blow you away. I really wish they would just start releasing Goosebumps in season sets, instead of stringing us along with these single disc offerings.

The worst thing about this DVD is the packaging. The DVD comes in the new "eco-friendly" (aka cheaper to manufacture) DVD case that have large wedges cut from the plastic, both behind the disc, and on the side where the liner notes go. Yes, it may be eco-friendly to use less plastic on the case, but it also leaves the disc inside much less protected from dust and scratches.

Instead of offering a cardboard slip case, the manufacturer went with a totally bizarre piece of cardstock pasted on top of the shrinkwrapping. First off, the image on the card is exactly the same as the one that's underneath, on the case, so there's really no reason for this. Second, once you remove the card from the shrinkwrap (it's attached with rubber cement), it doesn't even fit inside the case. You can wedge it inside the clear plastic piece on the outside of the DVD case....but once again - what's the point of this thing anyway? This is really the most absurd DVD packaging I've seen recently. Come on Scholastic, just give us a real slipcase next time.

As for the episodes themselves - we get three solid offerings this time. "Awesome Ants" was probably the best of the trio, with a really great twist ending that would be at home on the Twilight Zone (although the giant ant puppets used in this episode are about as convincing as the monsters in a Godzilla movie). "Teacher's Pet" is also a notable episode, because the lead actress, Michele Risi (playing the role of Becca), passed away shortly after filming.』

(More Scary Tales From R.L. Stine)
『This DVD contains 3 scary episodes from the R.L. Stine collection. These episodes are short (about 20 minutes each), so the whole DVD can be viewed in one sitting. My children are big fans of the "Goosebumps" DVDs, and this one is one of the best.

The first episode is entitled "The Headless Ghost". Duane and Stephanie are frequent visitors to Hill House; an old mansion that is rumored to be haunted. During one of their visits, they stumble across the ghost of a young boy who lost his head. Now, he's come for one of theirs!

In episode 2, entitled "Awesome Ants", pals Dave and Ben decide to grow an ant farm for their science project. Ignoring the instructions not to overfeed the ants, the boys begin feeding them hot dogs and any other thing they can find. Soon, the ants are overrunning the house.

The third and final episode is entitled "Teacher's Pet". Becca is excited about going on an overnight camping trip with her science class. However, once at the campground, Becca discovers some really strange animals. It turns out that the camp science teacher is doing a little cross-breeding, and Becca is on the menu!

As with the other DVDs in the "Goosebumps" series, the episodes contained on this DVD are scary, but not so much as to give young kids nightmares. My three children, ages 10, 8, and 6, really enjoy watching this series. The stories are spooky and the kids really enjoy them.

I give this DVD my highest recommendation. The stories are scary, and children will surely enjoy watching them.』

(It doesn't make sense.)
『With the rise of Blu ray, one would think that for the Saw series, the best versions would be made available. Pity this is not the case. The Unrated Director's Cut of Saw III clocks in at 121 minutes. The blu ray gives us only the unrated version, at 113 minutes. Why? It joins the original Saw on blu ray, offered in an R rated form. Yet, parts 2,4,and 5 are the longest versions offered. Why would blu ray get the lesser versions of part 1 and 3? No idea. As for the picture and sound, well they are crisp, loud and all they should be. If you own the 121 minute version of Saw III on DVD, I would keep it at least until Lionsgate deems us worthy of it on Blu ray.』

『Jigsaw has disappeared. With his new apprentice Amanda (Shawnee Smith), the puppet-master behind the cruel, intricate games that have terrified a community and baffled police has once again eluded capture and vanished. While city detectives scramble to locate him, Doctor Lynn Denlon (Bahar Soomekh) and Jeff (Angus Macfadyen) are unaware that they are about to become the latest pawns on his vicious chessboard』
『The firstSawpicture actually had an idea behind it, to say nothing of the ingenuity of its low-budget production; making a silk purse out of a bloody, maggot-ridden human ear, as it were. WithSaw III, the franchise pretty much settles into gore for gore's sake, as it explores newer and better ways to traumatize the body--and the audience. Events fromSaw IIare sewn up at the beginning of the film, and a detective on the trail of mad killer Jigsaw is quickly trussed up and subjected to one of the villain's sadistic games (this one has escape possible only by means of a key sitting in the bottom of a beaker of acid). Then we catch up with Jigsaw (Tobin Bell) himself, as he awaits death from his debilitating illness; once again he's tended by helper Shawnee Smith. The movie follows parallel plots: Jigsaw blackmails a doctor (Bahar Soomekh) into keeping him alive, and tortures a vengeful soul (Angus Macfayden) into recognizing the futility of revenge. OriginalSawcreators James Wan and Leigh Whannell worked on the script of this one, and it fully buys into the series mythology, referring backwards to previous events and, for all we know, preparing us for future installments. But if future installments are as pointlessly repugnant as this one, there's not much to look forward to.--Robert Horton

(Lexx: Season One (4-DVD Pack))
『This is great. Now if only the regular seasons would come down in price.』

(A Great Show, but this DVD set is lacking)
『I was very excited when I heard that Lexx, Season 1 was finally being re-released. Finally, a way to get all 4 movies for a reasonable price.

As any fan of Lexx will tell you, this is not your ordinary Sci-Fi show. It features quirky characters in an odd universe that drips with very thinly veiled erotic themes. This is not a show for children, but for adults who can understand its mature themes.

Each movie comes on it's own disc, so there are 4 discs in total. The insert unvolds to reveal 2 discs on each side, with one disc overlapping the other, making it impossible to remove the lower disc without first removing the upper disc. This is a bit of a pain, and I would have preferred an individual thinpack for each disc.

Additionally, each movie is presented in "Fullscreen" 1.33:1 ratio rather than Widescreen 2.35:1. It seems odd, given the populary of the Widescreen ratio, that they would choose to release this in Fullscreen instead.

Finally, the menu screens are very basic, with the only option beyond "Play" being the Chapter selection. However, there isn't one single extra feature on any of the DVDs. No deleted scenes, no cast interviews, and no commentaries. Not even a TV spot or stills from production. Absolutely nothing beyond the movies themselves.

Still, this is a great show that I would recommend to anyone looking for something different. The show itself deserves a 5/5 rating, but this set deserves a 3/5 at best. Part of me wonders if they'll come out with a better set in a few years, but I suppose that's the nature of these things.』

(Love this!)
『A bit campy but I think season one of lexx is great. Good effects&story. Eva Haberman is hot!!!』

(De-Lexx-ious)
『Who would ever imagine the wonders, that took place, that can be taking place, in space, aboard a living spaceship!!!』

(First season of an amazing show)
『I give these four movies 5 stars, they are the beginning of one of my favorite TV shows.

I want to give you some insight into the difference between this release (Echo Bridge) and the original canadian release by Salter Street. The Salter Street releases were four separate movies in individual cases, while this release is packaged in a kind of "book" style. The disc's carrier slides out of the cardboard sleeve, which has some nice embossed features of the graphics. It carries, as someone already noticed the image of Xenia Seeberg (Xev), who replaced Eva Habermann (Zev) a few episodes into season two...

The carrier itself opens up and holds two discs on each side. Overall, the package is only slightly thicker than a single DVD case. To note is that the slider is sealed with some non-removable tape. It needs to be cut and can not be peeled off without damaging the box.

The 4 movies are "bare bones", none of the extra features of the canadian release are included here. These were an interview with creator Lex Gigeroff, a behind the scenes featurette, and some panels with information about the characters, for each of the four movies. Those are interesting for hard core fans, but not necessary to enjoy the show.

Also, the separation into chapers of each episode is different. The Salter Street release had 9 chapter marks per episode, while this Echo Bridge release has 10 each, at slightly different points in the story. The video quality of the episodes, as far as I can tell, is identical.

Other than the missing extras, this release is, in my view, recommended.

The Complete First Season of the Groundbreaking Original Sci-Fi Series.

In its debut season, the Lexx's quirky crew--former security guard, Captain Stanley Tweedle; the luscious love slave Zev; the dead-but-deadly assassin Kai; and the robot head 790--comes together in four, full-length features:I Worship His Shadow, Super Nova, Eating Pattern, andGiga Shadow.

(Awesome!)
『This is a great cult classic! John Waters always makes a masterpiece and he didn't fail with Pink Flamingos. I absolutely love the movie. I would definitely recommend it to someone who has a little bit different taste in films.』

(Hm...)
『NEVER watch this movie alone, or in a small group. IT IS A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT EXPERIENCE WHEN VIEWED IN A LARGE GROUP! There is so many things that make you say, "ah, I really didnt want to see this," that you will never make it through the film. However, if you can manage to see it on the big screen in a room full of 100 people, go for it. It then becomes an experience, and while the gross scenes are not any less gross, they do become more funny. The best way to describe my reaction to the film is I was cracking up more then I have at almost any other film; there were tears in my eyes. However, while doing so, I was not able to look at the screen because I just couldn't watch.

That said, if you're not able to get past the... well, let's call them speed bumps... then you will not enjoy the film. In other words, dont take anything you see to heart. It's a film, be grossed out then forget about it when the next scene starts.』

(Did I just see what I think I saw???)
『Where do I begin? If someone asks me if I have seen this movie I think that I will be too embarrassed to tell them the truth. Yes! I watched it all the way through. I even rewound parts to make sure I seen what i thought I seen. Yes, it was what I thought I saw. Not for the kiddies, I can tell you that much. Be prepared to alter your top list of all time weird and disgusting movies. This is the champion!』

(Truely Disgusting -- GREAT !!)
『One of John Waters' greatest movies, by which his other movies are measured. If you like John Waters... this movie is a must see. And the actor(ess), Divine is amazing... A must see.

If that's not enough, the last scene is totally worth the purchase price. And if your friends have seen it... don't let give it away. The most gross thing that you'll ever see.』

(disgusting....................riot)
『just as fun as i remember way back in college. its so cheap and disgusting, you just roar ur way thru it. very fun and very gross.』
『Filmmaker John Waters exploded into infamy with this darkly comic classic in which cross-dresser Divine stars as Babs Johnson a criminal in hiding from the FBI in a trailer outside of Baltimore Maryland. Accompanying Babs are her mother (Edith Massey) a dim-witted woman who is obsessed with eggs; her son Crackers (Danny Mills); and Cotton (Mary Vivian Pierce) Babs's "travelling companion" and Crackers' co-conspirator in unwholesome play.Running Time: 108 min.Format: DVD MOVIE Genre: COMEDY UPC: 794043751622』
『This is the movie that made John Waters famous, and quite possibly the film that made bad taste cool. Yes, Virginia, a large transvestite actually eats dog feces as a kind of dizzying denouement to this frequently illogical and intentionally disgusting movie, but by the time that happens, you're already numb ... and you've possibly laughed to the point of losing bladder control.

The plot revolves around two vile families laying claim to the title "The Filthiest People Alive." You've got pregnant women in pits, you've got grown men getting sexual satisfaction from chickens, you've got people licking furniture to perform trailer-park voodoo, and you've got classic lines like: "Oh my God! The couch ... it ... it rejected you!"

Waters, who went on to direct genuine pop-culture classics such asHairsprayandSerial Mom, made this celluloid sideshow with one aim--to make a name for himself. It worked. He does have a genuine eye for filmmaking (when the trailer burns down, you feel the white heat of Divine's pain and anger). On the other hand, you won't notice any disclaimers about stunt doubles and animals not being mistreated. There weren't, and they were. Welcome to the filthiest film in the world.--Grant Balfour

『I bought this because I saw them when I was young...however only 2 out of the 4 are worth watching it...
OK Product』

(An incredible bargain for the Dracula/Hammer fan!)
『This is a great collection of 4 of the Hammer Draculas starring Christopher Lee. The movies are presented on 2 double sided DVD's. This is much cheaper than buying the titles individually. The transfers of these films are superb.』

(Oh, yes! there will be blood...)
『I have not seen these films since I was a kid on late night TV. This is an excellent set to purchase and a really good price... The picture and sound quality of all four films is also excellent... The special features is lacking a little, but all-in-all this is a great set... My only real problem, is that they should have released the other Hammer Dracula films in chronological order on at least two sets, not just the one here... It would have been perfect... I guess I can't complain too much... Check out this set, and enjoy!』

(A Good Collection of Old Hammer Dracula Films)
『One of the great joys of growing up with the Hammer horror films was the "continuity" from film to film. Unfortunately, I am too young to have seen these films while they were being released, and too old to not have seen them before the multi-movie capabilities of DVD sets. I saw all the Hammer films as they aired on tv, usually in the middle of the night, sometimes on Saturday afternoons, but out of order, and some films more than others.

Not that I brood over this, but it has irritated me all these years that I saw Dracula Has Risen From the Grave multiple times before I saw Dracula: Prince of Darkness. It's not so bad with the other sequels, but the end to Dracula: Prince of Darkness is perfect to the way he got resurrected in Dracula Has Risen From the Grave. With this four film set of DVD's, again I am deprived of seeing the second and third Count Dracula stories back to back (Brides of Dracula was the second film in the Hammer series, but did not have Dracula as a character). Yes, I am spiteful enough to drop the ratings by one star because of this. That said, Dracula A.D, 1972 is a satisfactory selection for the fourth film in this set, since it 1) has the Dracula/Van Helsing battle in a modern setting, and 2) teams up Christopher Lee with Peter Cushing.

Like I wrote in the BBC adaptation of Dracula, my taste has clearly changed since I was a kid, so watching this collection wasn't as enjoyable as watching them on broadcast televison whenever they aired.

For me, though, Horror of Dracula has passed the test of time. The plot is really nowhere near the novel, but the film was more action packed than the novel and the 1931 Universal version, and the relationship between Lee's Dracula and Cushing's Van Helsing is so powerful, that you would think that all the Dracula films had these two battling - but it would be 14 years before they appeared in another Dracula movie together.

One of the reasons why Dracula A.D. is a smart addition to this set is that it was the first teaming of Lee and Cushing since the first film. It takes place a hundred years after the last Van Helsing/Dracula battle, Dracula had been carrying this grudge against the Van Helsings all these years, just waiting to be resurrected and lo and behold, the grandson and grandfather look exactly alike. This movie works only because the first movie establishes such a strong chemistry between the two, and it's nice to have both available in the same set. You can watch the first and last movie and get a sort of "continuity." As for this movie as stand alone - it's really dated and although the plot had potential, the execution of the idea was lacking.

As for the other two films that make up this set, I had always thought Dracula Has Risen From the Grave was the weakest of the 19th century stories (maybe because I'd seen it so many times), but rather enjoyed it this time around. In a way, it's a rather intellectual film. The protagonist is an athiest and as much as a "B" horror film can, it examines the issue of strengths of faith and love when having to destroy vampires.

Taste the Blood of Dracula has a circle of three friends being targeted by Dracula because they had killed his servant. He uses the children of the men to kill their fathers. I can't remember if I liked it as a kid, but I didn't like it as an adult. Dracula has no loyalties except to himself, and to get his intended victims' children to do the dirty work for him? Neither approach worked for me.

Bottom line, it's a nice set of four films. For five stars, I'd have had it include Dracula: Prince of Darkness, and if the replacement had been other than Dracula A.D. 1972, I would have dropped this set down to three stars. Admittedly, I didn't get as much enjoyment as I thought I would from these four films, but it was nostalgic to see see vampire horror without current special effects and you really can't do much (if any) better than a battle between characters played by Christopher Lee and Peter Cushing - and you get two of them here.』

(Twilight Zone Vol. Two)
『THE TWILIGHT ZONE VOL. 2

This DVD contains four excellent episodes of an exceptional series which has not been matched over the decades, but some series have come close to the quality of the original Twilight Zone. Listed below are my personal reflections on these episodes since I watched them when they originally aired between 1959-1963.

"The Monsters are Due on Maple Street" aired on March 4, 1960. March 4 was a day which saw Lucy filed for divorce from Desi. The first family of television became a broken statistic of society. Down in Havana at 3pm, the French ship - La Coubre' was unloading munitions. As Fidel Castro hovered near by in his helicopter, the ship exploded killing and injuring many. Of course, Castro blamed the CIA and the growing tensions between the two countries were heading for a nuclear showdown.

However, as we watched the program, we felt the fear experienced by the normal people on a common street in an average town in America. There were too many uncertainties in 1960. We had heard that there were spies among us. Since the Roswell episode, looking at the stars at night from the front porch one had to wonder if there were aliens among us as well as the "godless Communists" which we heard about from our teachers and pastors each week. We had some neighbors on our street who were a bit odd. And we wonder if they were who they appear to be-just simple Americans living their lives in 1960 or were they sinister agents of a foreign power either across the sea or from one of those night stars.

"Time Enough at Last" on November 20, 1959 caused my fellow first graders to walk down the block to the Carnegie City Library to see if there was a vault. We knew there were thousands of books to give us something to do, but would it be safe. The librarian reassured us that the basement was certified as a Fallout Shelter, and we would be protected. Now, we know that the Fallout Shelters in public buildings were a psychological ploy to comfort the people. Radiation fallout would not have cared about schools, libraries, etc. Radiation poisoning would not have spared the children across the world.

"Nightmare at 20,000 Feet" on October 11, 1963 was an episode that we elementary students could not relate to since none of us had ever flown in a plane. However, the image of the goblin on the wing was an image that haunted us for years to come. We did not quite understand that the real goblins were those men who hid in windows and dark corridors waiting for their moment of infamy. We would see this reality in a few weeks on our black and white screens of a young leader gunned down and the funeral procession as a nation dressed in black mourned. Black and white images were appropriate for our lives in late November, 1963.

"The Odyssey of Flight 33" on February 24, 1961 caused us to imagine what it would be like lost in time on a plane, even though, we had never been on a plane. For that matter, time travel was a theme which we pondered on as much as our young minds could so, especially when our teacher, Mrs. _____ , was in one of her moods and decided to punish one of us for the sheer enjoyment of it. We all hoped that Mrs. ____ would take a plane trip soon.

Anyway, it was an unusual and fearful time for us elementary students growing up in the shadows of the Cold War and the ever lingering prospect of the destruction of our civilization. The Twilight Zone brought us some time to escape these vestibules of life.

In addition, some of these episodes scared us where a glass of hot milk and cookies were no comfort for our nightly repose. A hug or an encouraging word from a parent that there would be a tomorrow always helped us kids get through the school week. Of course, there would be another episode of The Twilight Zone to watch and experience.

Please enjoy these episodes and see what lessons you can gain from these intriguing stories for your life in 2009.

(Best Episodes of the Series)
『These are undoubtedly the best episodes of the series. "The Monsters Are Due on Maple Street" was adapted from the 1951 radio script "The Button Pushers" also scripted by Serling. "Nightmare at 20,000 Feet" almost gave director Richard Donner a heart-attack when Edd Byrnes and William Shatner played a practical joke on the director. The name of Henry Bemis' wife, Helen, was an in-joke to Burgess Meredith's real-life ex-wife.

Trivia supplied not from the DVD, but from the book, "The Twilight Zone: Unlocking the Door to a Television Classic" because the 800 plus page book is a P-E-R-F-E-C-T companion to the DVD. Before or after you watch an episode, you can use the book to uncover the in-jokes, bloopers and trivia that make viewing these episodes fun. Both are available on Amazon.』

(Great Volume in a Great Collection)
『So much of what we see on the classic TZ episodes has been redone to death these days. These are some of the ORIGINAL stories from a classic age of sci-fi suspense. This volumes includes four of the best episodes ever. It really is odd that they put such complete quality on one disc. This volume will not disappoint! Highly recommended.』

(A perfect collection of TZ episodes!)
『Ever since the New Years/4th of July Marathons on SciFi channel started, I have been hooked on The Twilight Zone.

This dvd is a great array of representative episodes: Time Enough at Last, The Monsters are Due on Maple Street, Nightmare at 20,000 Feet and The Odyssey of Flight 33 are the episodes featured. Burgess Meredith, William Shatner, over-reacting, mob mentalities, the unexplainable, the ironic, and the human are all here. Everything TZ embodies in every episode and in its overall ideal is here on this dvd.

A good choice for a first time buyer/viewer. This one is sure to please.』
