(Suprisingly good Direct-to-DVD sequel!)

A popular "Survivor" and "Battle Royale"-style reality show from Hollywood is being filmed in the woods of Virginia, former retired Commander Dale Murphy (Henry Rollins) with a group of misfits (Erica Leerhsen, Texas Battle, Steve Braun, Crystal Lowe, Daniella Alonso) are gonna film the show. But things go wrong on their first day as Murphy is kidnapped by a group of cannibalistic inbred mutant hillbillies that want him for dinner and plans on killing the rest of the team including filmmakers, but can some of them survive and escape the terror that is happening in the woods.

A pleasant and violent suprise! This is the long awaited sequel to the quite excellent "Wrong Turn" from 2003 and it delivers all the goods for fans of the original. This one is gorier, more thrilling and action packed then the original but lacks some of the supense and characterization of the first movie. I also love how it has more of a backstory to the inbreeding redneck mutant killers, i think this is a fun follow-up to a great movie and worth a view.

This DVD contains the unrated cut with more gore and scenes then before! with great extras like commentaries, trailer, featurettes, bloopers and more.』

(Good Sequel!)
『This movie picks right up where the other movie "Wrong Turn" left off. In the previous movie a group of travelers wind up lost in the Appalachian Mountains of West Virginia. They are forced to flee the inbred cannibals
who live there. In this show a TV crew once again travels to the Appalachian Mountains to do some shooting. It
doesn't take long before the crew is pursued as a source of food by the inbred cannibals who live there. One by
one the crew becomes a meal for the cannibals. The cannibals have all sorts of traps that are used to trap humans.
As the TV crew attempts to escape they discover the many means that the cannibals have to trap the humans. They
even find a garage where the vehicles of their victims are stored. The TV crew winds up having a pitched battle with the cannibals to survive. Despite being grizzly this movie is action packed. This movie is not for the squeamish. The ending scene in the movie will shock you.』

(Filmmakers To Audience: We Hate You)
『As pointless and uninteresting as the original WRONG TURN was, this sequel just amps up how lame and unnecessary this whole storyline is.

Characters? Just victims to be killed off without much thought or development. Plotline? Phoned in. Even if you can't tell exactly what happens before it happens, you certainly aren't surprised by anything that does happen. Overall effect? Haven't we seen everything here already somewhere else?

Henry Rollins gearing up for battle by making arrows with dynamite sticks and rubbing war paint on his face. Wasn't that Arnold in PREDATOR? The hot chick tied to a chair and forced to endure the inbreds at dinners. Now that was definitely THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE. The inbreds are worse than the inbreds in the first film, but closer to the mutants in equally-lame THE HILLS HAVE EYES remakes, which rip off the 70s version of those movies.

No wit, no curveballs, nothing well done. It's just all so bloody and predictable. And dull.

This is where we are now: the most revolting violence and sickest behavior is boring and uninteresting. This can't be healthy.』

("Better Than The Original!")
『Very few films have ever been a hit when they go directly to DVD release, but "Wrong Turn 2" was a certified smash upon its release in 2008. Based on the original "Wrong Turn", this sequel grossed over 12 million dollars when it came out on DVD, covering its cost of a 4 million dollar budget. The film features a bunch of young people going into the outback to film a TV series familiar in theme to television's stupid reality show "Survivor". Eventually one by one these people are killed by crazed in-breeders living in isolation in the wilderness. The movie is pure escapist fun and if you love horror films "Wrong Turn 2" will satisfy your appetite for blood, guts, and gore. Another sequel "Wrong Turn 3-Left For Dead" arrives in video stores October 20th, 2009 just in time for Halloween. This DVD features a ton of featurettes, three in all, including a great documentary with the cast and crew on the making of the film. There are also commentaries. The movie is 97 minutes long and subtitles are in spanish.』

(Avoid this Blu-Ray)
『While I enjoyed Wrong Turn 2 when it was initially released on DVD, I can't say that I enjoyed it on Blu-Ray. The High Definition transfer of this film is truly awful. I can't see any difference in picture quality when comparing the original DVD with this new Blu-Ray release. The image is very soft looking. Washed out and blurred with very little fine detail. The one area in which this release does improve upon the DVD however is the audio. The Blu-Ray does include a lossless audio track which is solid but not spectacular. If you own the Wrong Turn 2 DVD, it's not worth upgrading to the Blu-Ray version. Disappointing.』
『Studio: Tcfhe Release Date: 09/09/2008 Run time: 93 minutes Rating: Ur』
『By adding the Japanese cult movieBattle RoyaletoWrong Turn's cinematic puree ofDeliveranceandThe Hills Have Eyes,Wrong Turn 2primes itself for some clever spins on the repetitive inbred-mutant-humans-hunt-and-eat-sexy-young-people genre. A pseudo-post-apocalypseSurvivor-type game show brings five sexy young people (a bitchy vegan, a loudmouth skateboarder, a lesbian marine, a straight-laced jock, and a slutty...uh...apparently, she's just a slut) to the Appalachian woods, where inbred mutant humans start picking them and the TV crew off. Also along for the ride is the tough-as-nails host (Henry Rollins,Bad Boys II), who goes native and starts hunting the inbred mutant humans. Regrettably, the game plotline is soon tossed aside and the movie settles into a straightforward hunt-kill-eat scenario. But for fans of the genre,Wrong Turn 2does a good job: The sequence of deaths is not entirely predictable and you get to see one pair of exposed breasts, two sets of exposed intestines, and literal barrels of gore. Featuring horror flick stars Erica Leerhsen (the remake ofThe Texas Chainsaw Massacre), Crystal Lowe (Black Christmas), Texas Battle (Final Destination 3), Daniella Alonso (The Hills Have Eyes II), D-list celebrity hostess Kimberly Caldwell, and Aleksa Palladino (who once had a promising career in decent indie movies likeManny&Lo,The Adventures of Sebastian Cole, andStorytelling).--Bret Fetzer

『BLU-RAY VERSION IS WORTH BUYING. I DON'T NEED TO TELL YOU ABOUT THE MOVIE, OTHERS ALREADY HAVE. BUT, NOT TOO MANY PEOPLE TELL YOU IF IT IS WORTH UPGRADING FROM YOUR REGULAR DVD TO BLU-RAY. THIS ONE IS WORTH IT. COLORS ARE STUNNING AND SOUNDS GREAT.』

(Not a bad film or blu ray!)
『Not a bad film for what it's worth. The first time through I was maybe expecting more but the blu is worth a purchase.』

(Like A Surgeon...)
『Jack The Ripper has fascinated generations of would-be detectives (including myself). The fact that this legendary serial-murderer was never caught has always brought chills. FROM HELL takes some theories about the case, mixes them w/ facts, and adds a bleak air of dread and doom. Johnny Depp (Sleepy Hollow, Ed Wood, The Ninth Gate, Sweeny Todd) plays an opium-addicted police inspector, drawn into the action due to his ability to "see" certain future events in his dreams. Heather Graham is the sweet yet tough prostitute, Mary Kelly, who assists in the investigation. Ian Holm (Alien, Brazil, The Fifth Element, Lord Of The Rings) plays a kindly old doctor w/ extremely valuable information. Thick w/ symbology, conspiracy, and mystery, FROM HELL plays (somewhat) like a Sherlock Holmes story, w/ elements of horror sewn in. This is a great movie for Depp fanatics, as he comes through once again. Robbie Coltrane (Harry Potter And The...) is wonderfully low-key in his Watson-esque role as Depp's assistant. Highly recommended...』

(ALL of this edition DEFECTIVE!)
『Rotten or NO QUALITY CONTROL - 4 out of 4 sets that I've tried have defective menus - They are so messed up and unwatchable that in some cases the bonus material cannot be activated - Thus making this 2 disc edition utterly useless! The film portion on the first disc plays normally (its menus are also unwatchable.
The film itself is very good - A clever "twist" on the Ripper murders - and Depp, as usual is terrific, always fascinating and demanding more of himself.』

『A clairvoyant police detective must stop the most notorious serial killer in history - Jack the Ripper - before it's too late! Johnny Depp and Heather Graham star in this "engrossing, stylish thriller" (People) that "grips tighter than a chokehold and cut as deep as a knife" (Washington Post)』
『Heavy on atmosphere and light on everything else,From Hellis visually impressive while lacking the depth of the acclaimed graphic novel it's based upon. Making their third feature since 1993'sMenace II Society, twins Allen and Albert Hughes approach the Jack the Ripper case with physical precision, re-creating the gritty Whitechapel district of 1888 London in meticulous detail. What they've forgotten is the sheer terror that gripped Whitechapel in the wake of the Ripper's slaying of five prostitutes, investigated here by a Scotland Yard sleuth (Johnny Depp) who uses opium, laudanum, and absinthe to fuel his semiprescient visions of the slayings. Heather Graham attempts a slippery Cockney accent as a would-be victim, while Ian Holm steals the show as a has-been surgeon with devilish delusions of grandeur. Violence is obliquely suggested or briefly graphic, but no matter how you cut it,From Hellis only marginally thrilling as it treads familiar territory.--Jeff Shannon

((A MUST) FOR ALL TWIN PEAK FOLLOWERS!)
『NO need or reasons to dwell more in the dazzling/grizzling metamorphosis of David Lynch, concerning TWIN PEAKS (series) which possess indeed such an encrypted plot, if any? without any sanity to begin with at least?

But: FIRE WALK WITH ME. Is somehow nice to follow up upon after seeing the whole series,&I must admit things become more coherent with time, when thinking back at the series in retrospect.

Even though it might add to a new nexus or twist of illusions? which Lynch is the master off! together with movies like "The Tenant" by Roman Polanski. Brilliant Lynch, each time I watch his movies, right now me and wife is trying to consume his INLAND EMPIRE with all senses alert, trust me that can be hard as well.

But this puts a better closure over the Twin Peaks (Epic Series) some might argue...
I tend to agree on this, that's why it's A MUST and five stars worth!

Sincerely Viking.
OH, Fire Walk With Me...』

『this was a great series; and the movie was the best part. deffinatly the best of david lynch or anyone else assciated with this movie.』

(Only David Lynch can pull this off...)
『Bizarre
by Clayford (movies profile) Aug 25, 2007

Bizarre. That's one word that comes to mind. Creepy is another. Seedy another. Its all of those words and more. Where evil and the real world meet in the worst kind of fate. No film then or since makes me feel like this almost perfect Lynch film.

I loved this film back in 1992 when it came out (saw it in a Federal Way, WA theatre back then with my ex-wife), and I loved it again today on HBO in my basement here in Horseheads, NY. I did not see a single episode of the TV series and, for me, this probably helped.

There's so much I could touch on, scene by lovely/horrid scene. But that would take days. Let me just say that every detail is done right. Freaky Feds? Truly inventive. Teenage angst? Looks at it perfectly. Rebellion from psychosis from incest. Creepy as it comes.

Let me ask a question for you. This is only for those of you who have sought after the good times, the high times that only booze, drugs and premature sex will bring. Have you ever found yourself in a situation, at night, high as a kite (or at least looking to get that way) and the situation turns ugly? Where the people around you (be they in a bar or some drug dealers house you don't know) start to make you feel really uncomfortable? Someone's worse off for their high and they start picking fights and talking *****, etc.? The fear and seediness in life that I felt in situations like that is where this film takes me. To my lowest and dirtiest.

Electric Bob lives in my nightmares, too, Laura! Oh, that didn't come out right, but you know what I mean. I'd of come up with that strange electric substitute myself if my Dad was doing me since I was 13. The way Lynch brings all of the craziness together after he confuses is nearly perfect. Poor Laura. I think she saw it coming. And then the Angel at the end. She thought she was going somewhere that angels don't live. She didn't see that one coming. Saved in the end. Perfect. Great film』

(The Cycles of Abuse and The Symbolic Keys to Laura Palmer's Murder.)
『This film should be viewed as an addendum to the entire Two Season epic television series TWIN PEAKS. (They've finally worked all the bugs out of the TWIN PEAKS - THE DEFINITIVE GOLD BOX EDITION, which is a worthwhile purchase for all Lynch fans.) When viewing David Lynch's brilliantly underrated prequel TWIN PEAKS FIRE WALK WITH ME, it is important to understand some key elements to Lynchean symbolism. David Lynch is an adherent of Eastern Vedic philosophy and meditation. Along with Eastern Vedic thought, Lynch also mixes shamanism and Christian mysticism into the much bigger cauldron of "The Perennial Philosophy." (A term made popular in 1945 by Aldous Huxley's book by the same name.) The Perennial Philosophy is the recurrence of all universal religious or mystical truths inherently found in most cultures.

The Dreaming World: To mystics and shamans of countless cultures, the dreaming world is just as important as, if not more important than, the waking world. It is the place where the subconscious is free to associate with the superconscious mind, or the source of all consciousness. Like the dreaming world, the waking world is also a construct of perception. Pictures, images, and symbols. This is why it is hard to separate the dream world, or non-reality, from normal reality in most of Lynch's work. Dreams and normal reality are one and the same. The building blocks of the phenomenal world are illusive and illusory constructs. The pictures and images we witness as reality are essentially the same as the pictures and images we witness as dreams or non-reality. They are only constructs of consciousness. They are transitory states of perception that rise and fall out of emptiness.

Like many other Lynch films, FIRE WALK WITH ME depicts the dual nature of a waking and dreaming world. These two worlds do not separate in The Lynchean Universe.

Not all, but some of the actors from the TWIN PEAKS television series, and most of the critics, felt that Lynch had lost something with this film that was a part of the original television series: the dark underbelly of evil that was hidden just beneath the surface of a small idyllic town in Northern Washington. They felt that the film was too "in your face." (See the documentary on this disc.) While it is hard to witness, it was important for Lynch to pull no punches in depicting the events of Laura Palmer's tragic murder. Although it appears as such, the abuse and destruction of Laura Palmer is not a bogeyman lurking beneath her bed. It is the beast in man displayed in full form, breathing his foul stench into the face of the innocent. It is the curdled cream that floats to the top of a festering cup of evil coffee. A damn fine cup of evil coffee. It is not a story to be presented delicately or to be brushed under the rug to make it more palatable. It is a story of abuse that happens everyday. It depicts the harrowing, violation, and destruction of an innocent girl. Because of Sheryl Lee's brave and amazing performance, it is an extremely effective film. Psychologically and emotionally.

The film begins with the investigation into the murder of Laura Palmer's friend Teresa Banks, and takes place one year before the final days of Laura's life. The beginning of the film seems tacked on and unrelated to the events that take up the majority of the film one year later. But, this prologue is not superfluous. It is important to understand the symbolism of The Disappearing Agents. (See below.)

****************************SPOILERS*********************************

The symbol of The Doors: Doors are used by Lynch as symbols for entering into and out of subconscious memories, the hidden aspects of the psychological mind, the dreaming world, Heaven, Hell, and Purgatory.

The symbols of dream color: Dream colors are important to understanding Lynch. In dream sybolism, the color "blue" symbolizes truth, eternity, emotion, the feminine, and Heaven. Blue angels respresent guardian spirits or the super-ego. Blue light represents truth, enlightenment, Heaven, Nibbana (blowing out the FIRES of greed, hatred, and delusion), or Nirvana. I don't fully understand the meaning of the Blue Rose. Agent Cooper, referring to the murder of Teresa Banks says, "This is one of Gordon's Blue Rose cases." What does he mean? As blue can also represent sadness, it may signify the murder of a lonely girl, unclaimed by family or friends. The color "red" symbolizes power, anger, hatred, the id, primal and sexual urges, the masculine, and Hell.

The symbols of The Black Lodge and The Red Room: The Black Lodge represents the purgatory of samsara, ignorance, or the blinding ego of the self. The Red Room in the Black Lodge represents the lowest level of the self in The Black Lodge. The id, the primal self, animal urges, suffering, murder, or Hell. (Briefly, because it is not mentioned in FWWM, The White Lodge represents escape from samsara, egoless enlightenment, Nirvana, or Heaven.)

The symbols of The Demons: Bob is not presented as a symbol, but as a physical entity. Bob is an entity that feeds on fear, pain, and sorrow. "Garmonbozia." As a symbol, The Demon Bob represents the id, primal animal instinct, suffering, and/or pure evil. The Boy in the Mask (The Jumping Man) represents the fusion of the Leland/Bob personality. The monkey behind the mask represents Leland's primal self. Bob as his dark half. The incestuous and animal urges of Leland's id. The dwarf, or Man from Another Place represents the missing arm of The One Armed Man (Philip Gerard). The dwarf is The One Armed Man's connection to his base or animal self, The Red Room, and to Bob. He is still partly trapped in that world by his own karma. (At one time, The One Armed Man committed atrocities with Bob. Or, was possessed by Bob.) Other demons may represent other hidden aspects of the primal mind.

The symbol of Bob as psychological denial: Unfortunately, Laura is in many ways a victim of forces beyond her control (rape and incest). This makes her journey even more frightening and sad. The manifestation of Bob represents Laura's psychological denial of her incestuous rape by Leland. The memory of Leland raping Laura since she was 12 years old, is replaced with the image of Bob as her attacker. Instead of fleeing from the years of abuse, Laura hides her true self inside her secret diary. As do most victims of abuse, Laura escapes psychological and physical torment into a world of self-abuse, drugs (cocaine), alcohol, and prostitution. (Sometimes victims of abuse will cut themsleves, which thankfully, Lynch does not portray here. )Years of abuse become psychological transference. Laura feels she doesn't deserve love on any level. She is empty and worthless. She becomes a self-loathing symbol of sexual lust, perversion, and desire to men. In the days proceeding her death, her choices are becoming limited, and her destiny is almost etched in stone. A force of karma that must be played out. In the most profound scene of the entire film, before heading into the hedonistic Pink Room, Laura receives a warning from The Log Lady about the path she has chosen to continue upon, which is only partly, of her own making. It is heartbreaking.

"When this kind of fire starts. it is very hard to put out. The tender bows of innocence burn first and the wind rises - then all goodness is in jeopardy."
LOG LADY

Eventually, Leland/Bob finds Laura's diary, steals her true self, and shatters her identity completely. Only after many years of psychological trauma and denial, does Laura finally realize that Bob is actually her father Leland. Innocence is completely destroyed. Laura gives in to utter abandonment and fear, which leaves her defenseless against her total destruction. That fear is completely devoured by Bob, who only exists to feed on fear.

The symbols of The Pictures: The original picture that hangs upon the wall of Laura's bedroom depicts children being served food by a guardian angel. This picture represents the love, warmth, comfort, and protection of home, which is disappearing for Laura. The other picture given to her by The Demons from The Black Lodge, which she later hangs upon her wall, depicts an empty room with an open door. This picture represents the Door to Hell. The disappearance of the guardian angel from the original picture on her bedroom wall symbolizes a point of no return for Laura. Laura's descent has taken her so far down the road to Hell that her guardian angel spirit (also symbolized by Agent Dale Cooper) can no longer save her from her fate, karma, or destiny. The second picture or symbol, supplants or usurps the original. Once Laura is pictured inside the door, there is no return. She will die.

The symbol of The Guardian Angel: A recurrent symbol for Lynch. By the end of the film, Ronette Polaski's guardian angel appears to her, as Laura is being murdered by Leland/Bob, and spares her from Laura's fate. (Ronette is later found alive in the TV series.) Only after Laura dies is she visited in the Red Room by her guardian angel and Agent Cooper. She then realizes that her pain and sorrow has reached an end. She will be released from puragtory, samsara, and suffering. A better world awaits her on the other side.

The symbols of The Green Ring and The Disappearing Agents: Agent Desmond (Chris Isaak) is transported to the Black Lodge after finding The Green Ring under the trailer and bending over to pick it up. Like the Door to Hell picture, The Green Ring symbolizes a path of no return. When Laura puts it on, she will die. Green symbolizes a "going out," traveling, or leaving this world. The disappearance of Agent Jeffries (David Bowie) and Agent Desmond symbolize the good men who investigate these horrible crimes. They are transported into a psychological Hell, from which there is little or no escape. These are men that risk their own sanity and psychological well being in their battle with evil forces, and their search for justice. (In the series, while inside The Black Lodge, Agent Cooper agrees to trade his soul to Windom Earle for Annie Blackburn's. Annie's murdered image appears briefly in FWWM. Cooper himself becomes possessed by Bob at the end of the series. Too bad we never got to see where that journey would lead.) I choose to believe that the disappearing agents are Lynch's symbolic homage to them. They are the brave ones that walk around inside the psyches of these demons. Sometimes, they never return from the Hell of what they've seen. Hence, their disappearance in this film.

********************************************

There are animals rapists, demons, and monsters that walk among us. FIRE WALK WITH ME is an amazing metaphor for the destructive power they possess over their innocent victims. The victims can either be total strangers, or the immediate family members of these evil beings. The abused often become the abusers, and if not completely destroyed, often continue a neverending cycle of abuse and destruction. These themes are as just as profound today as when Lynch made this film. These monsters continue to walk among us.

The DVD includes a great documentary with the reflections of the cast and crew on the entire TWIN PEAKS phenomenon. It also includes some online features which I have not perused. As with most Lynch films, the DVD is not divided into chapters.

A very powerful film about a very dark subject. And, one of Lynch's best.

Enjoy.』

My wife invited a lot of her friends, who were much younger than me, and to my surprise, most of them were unfamiliar with the series. They found the movie to be a real downer- which it is, a high school girl who was raped by her father and ultimately killed by him. 『6.6 THE FILM ITSELF
7.0 VISUALS
6.5 SOUND
3.0 PACKAGING

Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers is a decent film. However, much like the rest of the films in the series, it has some interesting moments, but nowadays more laughably bad moments and ridiculous characters. I mean, seriously. No one sees a freakin' blood trail or finds a crying baby in some random train station / business in the middle of a busy day? Seriously? But aside from the that the new spin here is that Michael is part of a cult called the "Thorn"... er, something like that.

Bottom line: It's a passable film that is fun to watch when you want to reminisce about such a profitable franchise and to remember just how far the series has come since the original film.

7.0 VISUALS
Nothing special here. Alot of grain, and blacks. Nothing stands out, and no special effects really needed or shown. But luckily the movie doesn't need fantastic visuals to still be "scary" (for some).

6.5 SOUND
The typical theme is here which is the best part of the movie. Dialogue is cheesy at times and there's no use of ambience or sound effects for home theater nuts.

3.0 PACKAGING
Nothing special, actually, just plain bad. I wish the creators and the company would've spent more time building up these films instead of just sending them to DVD with bland menus.

0.0 EXTRAS
Absolutely nothing here. Bare bones DVD. Just the film. Unexcusable.

IN CLOSING
The film is mediocre, and passable at best. A new wrinkle in the mythology of the show is nice and mixes some things up. But the film certainly isn't scary for anything - especially after all these years. But for fans of the series or horror movies in general, there will be some fun in watching this film. No special features at all though really makes this DVD set a let down. Is this the VHS age or what?

It was okay, but it wasn't that great and was somewhat predictable since a lot of the same sort of action and plot happens again in this movie such as immature teenagers partying, getting high, teenagers having premarital sex, and always having the jerks and the teens who get laid die off, just like all those characters did in the first 5 Halloween installments and just like they always do in your typcial horror flick including all the FRIDAY THE 13TH's, the NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET's, HELL NIGHT, PROM NIGHT, THE HOUSE ON SORORITY ROW, etc.; except in this HALLOWEEN sequel Laurie Strode's alcoholic abusive father John Strode(Bradford English)decides to be optimistic by buying the old Myers house and move his family in there since he was never able to get that house sold after being vacant for at least over 30 years since every Haddonfield resident felt the Myers house was haunted ever since Michael Myers killed his sister at age 6 in 1963, but John and his wife(Kara Strode)end up dying off in the middle of this movie and the Myers house blows up into smithereens at the end of the movie while being chased by the relentless Michael Myers(George Wilbur).

This horror flick also takes me back to memory lane to when I was still living in the Imperial Valley in my hometown(El Centro,CA)when Halloween VI had it theatrical release in the Fall of 1995.』

(Now this is a Halloween movie!)
『No sequel in the Halloween series has divided fans more than part 6: The Curse of Michael Myers. You either love it or hate it, but I thought part 6 had everything a Michael Myers movie should have. It was extremely suspenseful, Michael was arguably in his scariest form, the acting was good for the most part, and it left you wanting more. When I saw H6 in the theater, I couldn't wait for the sequel to find out what happened. Unfortunately the producers decided to abandon the whole storyline from parts 4 through 6 in order for Jamie Lee to reprise her role as Lorie Strode in the teen friendly H20. So we'll never get a proper sequel.

Personally, it's one of my favorite and most watched in the series behind parts 1 and 4. I just wish we could get a blu-ray release which includes the Producer's cut. I highly recommend adding Curse to your Halloween collection.』

『For pulse-pounding suspense and relentless thrills, nothing can match HALLOWEEN: THE CURSE OF MICHAEL MYERS -- one of the most frightening chapters in the chilling HALLOWEEN series! In a single horrifying night, Michael Myers' masked reign of terror changed Halloween forever! Now, six years after he was presumed dead in a fire, Myers has returned to kill again -- and this time there's no escape! As the homicidal fury builds to a spine-tingling cliimax, the long-hidden secrets of the screen's most maniacal murderer are revealed ... with shocking results! Starring a thrilling cast including legendary Donald Pleasence (HALLOWEEN, THE ADVOCATE) and Paul Rudd (THE CIDER HOUSE RULES, CLUELESS).』
『The series premise continues to stretch so thin it could dissipate. This time, Michael Myers chases his unfortunate niece around, then goes after a family who happen to be living in his former home. This is slasher-ism at its most cynical, and a thoroughly unpleasant, unimaginative, and unredeeming movie. Donald Pleasence, the one holdover from the original film, looks like he'd rather be anywhere than in this thing.--Tom Keogh

(Even Better Then The First)
『Most of the time I like the first movie more than the follow up. But I think that this movie is even better than the first.
Made in 87' Ash goes back to the same cabin he was at in the first one. His girlfriend is taken away by the evil things that are in the woods. She comes back from the dead and tries to kill him. The trees come to life, His hand goes crazy and tries to kill him, There is a zombie down in the basement. There is a bunch of other scary cool things that happpen in this movie as well. If you liked the first one I really think that you will like this one.
There is more humor in this one than in the first one. Which I thought was cool. Pick it up at amazon.

(Don't Buy This!)
『Don't buy this one!

(Great movie,lousy packaging)
『I purchased this movie, one of my all time favorites, in great anticipation of adding it to my blu Ray collection. Pretty disappointed that when I received it, the packaging looked all shriveled up and worn, as if it had sat outside overnight in a rainstorm and then someone tried to salvage it with a blow drier. Kind of lousy that anyone would even try to pass this item off to someone as a "new" purchase. Extremely disappointed.』

(Most fun movie ever made)
『What can i say about this movie that hasn't already been said a thousand times over? An absolute classic, regardless of which genre you place it in. The blu-ray picture quality is only a slight improvement over the standard DVD version, but if you don't own it already you might as well go with the blu-ray version. this is a MUST OWN movie!』

(Evil Dead II-Still Gore-iffic.)
『Evil Dead 2 is a movie(like the first) I don't appreciate, Is pointless and no plot, just gore and of course Young dumb people staying in the woods, Why would you stay in a creepy cabin? Mama didn't raise no fool, But that's horror movies, people doing dumb stuff. Although Bruce Campbell is a legend.don't watch if your queasy.』
『No Description Available.
Genre:Horror
Rating:NR
Release Date:2-OCT-2007
Media Type:Blu-Ray』

『Writer-director Sam Raimi's extremely stylized, blood-soaked follow-up to his creepyEvil Deadisn't really a sequel; rather, it's a remake on a better budget. It also isn't really a horror film (though there are plenty of decapitations, zombies, supernatural demons, and gore) as much as it is a hilarious, sophisticated slapstick send-up of the terror genre. Raimi takes every horror convention that exists and exaggerates it with mind-blowing special effects, crossed with mocking Three Stooges humor. The plot alone is a genre cliché right out of any number of horror films. Several teens (including our hero, Ash, played by Bruce Campbell in a manic tour-de-force of physical comedy) visit a broken-down cottage in the woods--miles from civilization--find a copy of the Book of the Dead, and unleash supernatural powers that gut every character in sight. All, that is, except Ash, who takes this very personally and spends much of the of the film getting his head smashed while battling the unseen forces. Raimi uses this bare-bones story as a stage to showcase dazzling special effects and eye-popping visuals, including some ofthe most spectacular point-of-view Steadicam work ever (done by Peter Deming). Although it went unnoticed in the theaters, the film has since become an influential cult-video favorite, paving the way for over-the-top comic gross-out films like Peter Jackson'sDead Alive.--Dave McCoy

(Excellent thriller)
『I discovered that the person who wrote Hitchcock's Dial D for Murder also wrote this story. You can tell because this story takes place in an apartment. I enjoyed this film very much. It is a blind woman who has to deal with three dangerous criminals who are after a doll filled with drugs. Every scene keeps you to the edge of the seat, and its last fifteen minutes or so, are even more enthralling.』

(This was outstanding!)
『I've always remembered this movie as amazing, and seeing it again for the first time in many years confirms that it still holds it's title as my all time favorite suspense/scary movie.』

(great suspense)
『I have always loved this movie. I am so happy it is still available and that I could get in on DVD.』

(Time has not been kind to this one)
『Last 10 minutes are still pretty fun, but otherwise ... whew! Way too over orchestrated in almost ridiculous ways, very campy dialogue, sudden, unexplainable character developments and a very weird, very 60's cheesey love song at the finale. A shame really.』

(DVD Wait Until Dark)
『If you want to see a "clean" gripping DVD...watch Wait Until Dark...Audrey Hepburn is her usual charming self...she plays a believable blind girl that is coping well with her challenges. Her support cast is terrific! The story is a good one!! :)』
『A photographer's blind wife, trapped in her New York apartment by an evil trio who are ready to murder to retrieve a heroin-filled doll hidden in her apartment, cleverly outwits them. Music by Henry Mancini. Based on the long running Broadway play by Frederick Knott.』
『Audrey Hepburn's last Oscar nomination was for this adaptation of Frederick Knott's famed stage thriller about a blind woman, a con man (Alan Arkin), and a doll full of heroin. Thanks to Hepburn's husband, a photographer who does a good deal of traveling, she's unknowingly come into possession of said doll, which was given to him on a plane by a comely young drug runner who winds up dead. The murderous Arkin, aided by sympathetic henchman Richard Crenna, will let nothing stand in the way of his obtaining it, even if it comes down to assaying multiple "personalities" in order to visit and terrorize Hepburn; Crenna is unwillingly enlisted to help. However, the "world's champion blind lady" (as Hepburn sardonically states) is more than up to the task of defending herself in her basement Manhattan apartment in a heart-stopping climax that to this day still defines the way horror movies with jack-in-the-box psychos are made. Despite the obvious staginess of it all (the entire action takes place in Hepburn's apartment), it still works magnificently, thanks to Hepburn's steely will and Arkin's deadly, sadistic madman. A helpful hint: turn out all the lights when you watch it; theaters back in 1967 did so, killing the guiding lights during the film's last 15 minutes. We can't tell you why, but trust us, it's worth it.--Mark Englehart

(does not age well)
『7.9 THE FILM ITSELF
6.9 VISUALS
7.5 SOUND
7.0 PACKAGING
8.4 EXTRAS

Remembering that Final destination came out in 2000, it's easy to see how old the film looks - especially on blu-ray. But even more so, the dialogue, the some what hammy / cheesy acting and just how young the cast is makes you understand you are not watching an Oscar award winning film.

Final Destination is an above average thriller / horror flick that deals with a young man who has visions of death. When he escapes the "death" that was imminent, the count down is on until death "catches up" to those who escaped. It's an interesting premise and it's handled decently. But after 9 years, it's certainly not the most engaging of stories, it sometimes doesn't really hold your attention and the characters feel cookie-cutter at best. But if you're looking for something different and slightly entertaining, you can do a lot worse than Final Destination.

VISUALS 6.9
There's no reason this should be bought on blu-ray. It looks okay at best, but for visual nuts they will certainly call this "horrible". From the bad haircuts that are really shown well here to the blotchy skin / makeup, some movies just should be left on DVD. Of course, being 9 years old doesn't help, but I've seen movies had 20 years ago that look stunning compared to this. It seems like no remastering has been done here at all.

SOUND 7.5
It's good, but nothing special. And after listening to the entire "isolated score" feature, I'm even more less impressed with this than I originally was. The rest of the sound - dialogue and explosions - are better, but still, nothing that makes you crank up the surround sound or anything.

PACKAGING 7.0
No main menu, the movie just starts with a menu bar that pops up on the bottom. The cover kind of resembles a cheesy teen-horror / action flick, and that's exactly what the film is.

EXTRAS 8.4
Two commentary tracks, one of which is really good (the one with the crew) while the other is average at best (the one with some of the cast members). There is a feature that is commentary by the composer as the entire score is presented over the dialogue. I never listened to one of these before, and this was not a good first selection for a film to do so on. The score just isn't that interesting here and the dialogue is "blah" at best.

"The Perfect Souffle: Testing Final Destination" is an inyteretsing feature I have never seen again. The creators talk about what a testing piece does for the film and what changes after it. Kind of interesting, but glad more films don't have this as it won't be watched by many fans.

"Premonitions" is an obnoxiously cheesy piece about a woman who believes she has the power to see when people are dead or in danger, and that she can see the future. Maybe if she didn't try to force her kids to believe it (that's how it seems anyway) it wouldn't be so bad, but this just seems like a family that will be in the news one day for joining a cult or something.

Then there are 3 deleted scenes that show a radically different ending. These are good because it shows just how far off the ending was, but they're bad because this ending is a horrible decision. So I'm glad they changed it and this is a very interesting original ending.

FINAL VERDICT
Final Destination is a decent film that offers something new to a tired genre, but it certainly hasn't aged well in the 9 years since it was released. The special features are impressive, but aside from the crew commentary and the shocking alternate ending there isn't much substance here.

8.1/10 "IMPRESSIVE"』

(great horror that deserves the many positive ratings and reviews)
『The first Final Destination is actually a really good horror film. It's significantly better than the third Final Destination movie (that's the one with the carnival and roller-coaster ride segment, right? I like this one a LOT more).

The only flaw with this film is that the first 20 minutes start off rather predictable, but give the story some time to develop and I believe you'll find yourself really getting into it.

Maybe it's just me, but I found it kind of disrespectful that they'd keep playing John Denver's classic "Rocky Mountain High" throughout the film. The song plays whenever something bad is about to happen.

It's disrespectful because, as you probably know, John Denver lost his life in an airplane accident a few years before this movie was created and released. The writers should have honestly picked a different song.

Now about the storyline. Are you the kind of person that believes you can cheat death? If so, do you believe if you happen to cheat death that death will rear its head shortly after in ANOTHER attempt to take your life? These are the kind of serious and curious questions that many of us probably ask ourselves, and these same questions are the reason this kind of horror is a few steps above the generic slasher kind (and honestly, slasher flicks are the kind of horror stories have been done to the point of exhaustion by this point).

I often wonder about these questions personally, though obviously it's important not to let these questions interfere with enjoying your life. But it makes you wonder exactly what your destiny is and when it will happen, doesn't it?

Anyway, great horror suspense.』

(Extremely Underrated Sci-Fi Movie)
『Final Destination has an interesting concept. Death hunts people who overcame his plan for them. A script originally written for X-Files, it is intelligent, cerebral, and witty. It is not your average "kill-teens" flick. Each teen has their own personality and you can actually tell the difference between all of them. You sympathize with the teens and hope they don't die; instead of rooting for the killer (in this case Death itself). The teens have actual intelligence and are not idiots. The cliffhanger ending is truly excellent.
Among the Final Destination series, this is the best. Final Destination 2 (second best) suffered (in my opinion) from a relatively happy, hopeful ending compared to this cliffhanger ending; the new life concept seemed too hopeful. The Final Destination (third best) was relatively good but suffered from "show everybody die and not leave mystery" syndrome. Final Destination 3 suffered from stupid characters who no one cares about syndrome.』

(Useless, dumb POS movie)
『As they are, horror movies are for the most part useless and have no cultural value at all unless you're some kind of sadist. Final Destinations 1, 2 and 3 aren't so much horror as they are safety films that show what happen if you don't put safety first. People are decapitated, suffocated, immolated, defenestrated, and the only lesson we learn from this movie is... they shouldn't make a sequel... but they did anyway, 2 of them! Then they're making this new dumb Final Destination movie, with the word "The" in front of it as though they are trying to have more respect for the English language somehow by making the title a complete sentence on its own.

Don't watch Final Destination. You'll only destroy your mind and your dignity.』

(No Cheating The Reaper)
『The "Final Destination" series started off with this low-key and middle-budget suspense film. Cast with a bunch of young actors in a twist on the old slasher formula, except this time, the mad killer is old Grimm himself. It makes this movie a minor classic, in that there's never anyone chasing these kids through the woods (so to speak). You don't need to set up a story about the killer that got killed by the angry mob or tormented by nasty classmates. Death doesn't need that kind of contraption, Death just is.

Of the actors, only Sean William Scott (aka "Stifler") and Heroes' Ari Larter have moved up from this series starter. Then one of the kids - Devon Sawa - has a premonition that gets him and six classmates plus one teacher booted from the flight. Said plane then explodes upon take-off. This team of cast-offs realize they've cheated death...or did they? Seems Death's Design isn't to crazy about being disrupted, and comes back for the stragglers. This is where "Final Destination" slips back into formula, and became more inventive in the way the teens get killed off. This does sort of make FD a precursor to the Saw series, in that the kills had to be elaborately set up and executed (har har).

Even with the beach-blanket-bingo of the FD plotline, the suspense is real. Who goes next and who beats the reaper? The concept was so successful that the Big D came back for two more sets of teens (Final Destination 2 and Final Destination 3) with a 4th in the works with little variance in the formula.』

『Horror tale with a twist, Final Destination tells the story of teenager with strange premonitions about death and the mysterious accidental deaths that follow his life. Directed by X-Files veteran James Wong.

『While hardly a spiritual upgrade of the slasher film, this high-concept teen body-count thriller drops hints ofThe Sixth Senseinto the smart-aleck sensibility ofScream. Helmed byX-Filesveteran James Wong, who cowrote the screenplay with longtime creative partner Glen Morgan,Final Destinationis an often entertaining thriller marked by an unsettling sense of unease and scenes of eerie imagery. It suffers, however, from a schizophrenic tone and a frankly ludicrous premise. A high school Cassandra, Alex Browning (Devon Sawa ofIdle Hands), wakes from a preflight nightmare and panics when he's convinced the plane is doomed. His ruckus bumps seven passengers from the Paris-bound plane, which immediately explodes into a fireball on takeoff, but fate hasn't finished with these lucky few and, one by one, death claims them. Wong brings such a funereal tone to these early scenes of survivor's guilt and inevitable doom that the already far-fetched film threatens to veer into unplanned absurdity. Thankfully, the tale loosens up with a playful morgue humor: one of the victims winds up the splattered punch line to a grim joke and elaborate Rube Goldbergesque chains of cause and effect become inspired spectacles of destruction.Final Destinationis a pretty silly thriller when it takes itself seriously, and the filmmakers play fast and loose with their own rules of fate, but once they stick their tongues firmly in cheek, the film takes off with a screwy interpretation of the domino effect of doom.--Sean Axmaker

(Kolchak-great series)
『Ordered this for my husband for Christmas. He was a fan of the series.. We have watched almost half, and can't wait to finish.』

(LOVE MY KOLCHAK)
『RECEIVED THIS VIDEO PACK, ALL 20 MOVIES, SEASON 1 AND ONLY FOR THE PRICE OF 1 KOLCHAK MOVIE FROM COLUMBIA HOUSE. LOVE MY KOLCHAK: THE NIGHT STALKER.』

(A Sentimental Favorite)
『I just found some interesting trivia about KOLCHAK: THE NIGHT STALKER that I never knew (and I see some other reviewers have mentioned it too).

David Chase, who would go on to create one of the greatest shows on TV, THE SOPRANOS, got his first Hollywood job as a story editor for THE NIGHT STALKER! Not only that, Robert Zemeckis and Bob Gale (USED CARS, BACK TO THE FUTURE) wrote one of THE NIGHT STALKER's wildest episodes, "Chopper," a modern-day update of the headless horseman legend (only now he rides a motorcycle).

This was my favorite show as a kid. The TV movies were written by Richard Matheson, who wrote I AM LEGEND, HELL HOUSE, and my favortie TWILIGHT ZONE episode, "Nightmare at 30,000 Feet."

Although this series would lapse into a "Monster of the Week" formula that exhausted its concept (something THE X-FILES learned to avoid), the show itself did a great job of developing the office and its quirky reporters around the supernatural goings-on. Vincenzo the screaming boss with an ulcer, "Uptight" the snooty rival, Miss Emily the doting grandmotherly presence. And Darren McGavin as Carl Kolchak, a wise-guy reporter who believes more in the paranormal than the business-as-usual beauracrats he's forced to deal with.

Too bad the show didn't last more than one season, but everyone remembers that one season!』

(FINALLY!)
『It's nice that they FINALLY release this DVD. The down side being it states that it has been digitally enhanced, but my VHS tapes have a better picture quality. Still, it's Kolchak on DVD.』

(Spooky Nostalgia)
『I remember when this show used to come on... when I was a kid our local channel would put it on after midnight on a Friday. Now, today this show may seem a little hokey but back then it was really creepy.

I was very pleased by the DVD set. The episodes are intact and I got to watch several that I've never seen before. It was also interesting to see how reporting used to be done... you had to get out from behind your big steel desk and go to the library or go to the morgue or find a subject matter expert. You had to develop photos and print them. You put stories "on the wire" so it could be picked up by news services via teletype. I don't think you could do the Night Stalker today. In this way it's as if it's preserved in amber.

Sure, some of the special effects were hokey back then (I recall how incredibly unconvincing the headless biker was) but the stories made up for them. Of course, you had to wonder why these things always happened to Kolchak and how he managed not to end up in jail for destruction of public property, slander, misuse of a body, public nuisance, impersonating a doctor, etc. etc.

Definitely worth watching!』

『ALL 20 ONE-HOUR EPISODES. CARL KOLCHAK IS A HEADSTRONG INVESTOGATIVE REPORTER ON THETRAIL OF THE PARANORMAL: ZOMBIES, VAMPIRES, WEREWOLVES, GHOSTS&EVEN ALIENS. NO MATTER HOW UNNATURAL OR UNBELIEVABLE, KOLCHAK IS ALWAYS THERE TO UNCOVER THE TRUTH.』
『The acknowledged inspiration forThe X-Files, and the basis for an updated 2005 network version,Kolchak: The Night Stalkerwas a short-lived 1974 series spun off from a pair of extremely popular made-for-TV movies about the supernatural adventures of dogged newspaper reporter Carl Kolchak (Darren McGavin). Though plagued by low ratings and critical brickbats, the show has cultivated a huge cult following over the past three decades, which has given rise to this three-disc set, which compiles all 20 episodes of the show. Though none of the episodic stories matches the suspense and writing strength of theNight StalkerorNight Stranglermovies, TV horror fans will appreciate the parade of interesting and inventive monsters encountered by Kolchak (including a witches' coven in "The Trevi Collection"; an Aztec cult in "Legacy of Terror"; a Hindu Demon in "Horror in the Heights," which was penned by Hammer Films scribe Jimmy Sangster; and a headless biker in "Chopper," an episode deemed in extreme poor taste by Stephen King and co-written by Robert Zemeckis, Bob Gale, andSopranoscreator David Chase). McGavin is of course topnotch as Kolchak, and he's well-matched by Simon Oakland as his hot-tempered boss; guest stars include Scatman Crothers, James Gregory, Phil Silvers, Eric Braeden, Tom Skerritt, and Richard Kiel as the monster in two back-to-back episodes. Sadly, no extras accompany this fun collection of Kolchak's creepiest cases.--Paul Gaita

(Perfect horror movie)
『This movie has everything a horror fan could want: setting, mystery, great casting, and the conclusion fills you with a sense of wonder and gives you a lot to think about.』

(Not a very good remake.)
『I just love a good ghost story.
Sadly, this wasn't one of them.
I'll make this short.

What did I like?
The acting and directing were both passable but nothing spectacular.
The story was a remake of "A Tale Of Two Sisters".
The original was a million times better and I watched it after I watched the remake.

What didn't I like?
Pretty much everything else.
Everything the original did right, the remake did wrong.
The story was WAY too obvious right from the start.
The original had a lot of little twists and turns that this version didn't have.
Most movies have little, small touches that the director add.
The remake had none of the subtle touches that were in the original.
Different directors, different versions obviously.

All in all, I didn't like it.
It wasn't scary.
It was forgotten within a few days by me anyway.
I give "A Tale of Two Sisters" my highest recommendations.
"The Uninvited"???
Bleh, go rent the original you'll thank me later.』

(The Uninvited)
『Anna returns home after spending time in the hospital following the tragic death of her mother. Her recovery suffers a setback when she discovers her father has become engaged to her mother's former nurse. That night, Anna is visited by her mother's ghost, who warns her of Rachel's intentions. Together, Anna and her sister try to convince their father that his current fiancee is not who she pretends to be, and what should have been a happy family reunion becomes a lethal battle of wills between stepdaughters and stepmother. This is a good movie, the twists and turns in this movie came to a unpredictable ending which is really good.

(One of the best movies I seen in '09)
『OK so I finally decided to watch the movie after reading some of the comments on the message board and because I am a fan of Elizabeth Banks. I normally don't watch movies like this because movies these days are lacking. But this just blew me away. It's about a girl name Anna who comes back home from the crazy ward. Her mom is dead and her father is shacking up with another woman and her sister is also there that is, there for Anna. I don't want to go too much into detail because I don't want to spoil anything for people who have not seen it but It is a MUST for people who love a good suspense thriller with some horror. I gotta say the performance of the whole cast esp Emily Browning and Arielle Kebbel was better than great! I applaud Arielle for her performance. I know I couldn't have pulled off her role like she did. But I recommend this to everyone!』

(The next generation of ghost movie - 4 stars!)
『I've never thought that the ending would end up that way. I was in fact a little confused after watching the movie. Is she dead or alive? What's going on here? Is she a ghost or what? So I watched the second time. Then I realized one thing about this new style of ghost movie: the ghost is not a ghost anymore, the ghost is a "human", just like anybody else in the movie. It's intriguing, mysterious, and makes you say out loud: "WTF, she is already dead!" This new trend in ghost movie has becoming more&more common. Another similar style to this one is "Passagers" (starring Anne Hathaway). In the end of the movie, your immediate expression (in a good way): "What?", "WTF!", "Oh..", "Wow..". All in all, I like it - 4 stars.』

『The china-doll features of Emily Browning (A Series of Unfortunate Events) are the eerie center ofThe Uninvited, an American remake of the wildly popular Korean horror filmA Tale of Two Sisters. Browning stars as Anna, a young girl being released from a mental hospital following the harrowing death of her mother. But when she returns home, she discovers her father (David Strathairn) has fallen under the sexual spell of her mother's former nurse, Rachael (Elizabeth Banks,Zack and Miri Make a Porno), despite the open hostility of Anna's sister Alex (Arielle Kebbel,John Tucker Must Die). When Anna sees the ghost of her mother point at Rachael and scream "Murder!", Anna and Alex begin to investigate Rachael's past and make some unsettling discoveries. The Uninvitedcombines two horror trends: Twist endings (in this case, more than one) and recycling Asian horror images (particularly wet, crawling corpses). There's nothing particularly outstanding aboutThe Uninvited, but it's superior to more lackluster Asian horror remakes likeOne Missed Call. The three lead actresses all have strangely glossy faces that look molded out of plastic, which adds a perhaps unintentional layer of creepiness.--Bret Fetzer

(Paradise Lost)
『This is probably one of the best movies ever made in regard to the main theme of `Paradise Lost'. Al Pacino suits the devil's role just perfect, similarly as Keanu Reeves suits the role of the devil's advocate. I could not imagine any other actors playing the above roles more accurately or more perfectly. Both Pacino and Reeves played superbly throughout the entire film despite their adverse characters. Reeves aptly perform as a young ambitious and ego maniac lawyer who is determined to win every single case at any cost. But Kevin, the lawyer, is a very interesting character, for he is evolving spiritually during the film until he is fatally torn between divine justice and diabolical power. In this respect the devil remains a flat character in comparison, for he is the absolute evil, he never changes, and he never will, whereas the child of Eve, the human, the mortal, the lawyer Kevin, is continuously swaying between the two ancient adverse realms. Yet, the devil took the worst of his advocate and pushed him to the limit by raping his wife, driving her to madness until she kills herself. It should be mentioned that the longer Kevin works for the devil, the clearer it becomes to the viewer that Kevin is not evil, but a good soul who is trapped between the two arch polarities of good and evil. As a viewer one begins to develop sympathy for the hero who was once harsh, arrogant, and a slick repugnant lawyer, because he is human like us, and he is suffering, and his conscience gets heavier and heavier all the time. We take his side because the devil is against him; the devil is his real enemy, thus, our enemy; the enemy of mankind. We want Kevin to do the right thing and change for the better, and he does, even though it is too late. But the viewer does not know, neither Kevin, what his final decision will be. It is a tricky ordeal which confounds even the purest moralists of mankind. Will justice prevail at the end? Will Kevin rebel against the devil who rebelled against God? Paradoxically, Kevin lost everything when he did not dare to rebel against the devil, but when he finally decided that he had enough of the devil, thereupon he rebelled against him; Kevin has won his old life back, and received a second chance to find happiness. It was admirable to watch him losing his career on purpose for the sake of justice and for the sake of the life of a young girl. How many lawyers would do it today? It should be mentioned that despite all of his weakness, Kevin enjoys what we all enjoy as humans, and that is the right of free will. The final test rests upon the issue of free will, and here Kevin wins the case for the good of mankind. After he lost everything, including his lovely wife he came to realize the brutal outcome of his prior selfish ambitions. The psychopathic killer he acquitted in the start of his career just murdered another young girl. How far he will go to win a case rests entirely upon his own conscience. Indeed, it is a moral issue which occupies the moralists of any contemporary rational society. When I watched this film I couldn't help thinking about the role of greedy arrogant lawyers and about the consequences of their vile intentions. It is an exceptional superb film, intriguing until the very end. Nevertheless, the viewer can only rely on the individual resistance against the devil, for we learned from the end that the devil could be lurking on every corner. Vanity is one of his favorites; he claimed and winked, just to make the viewer feel bad, and to remind us that the devil will always be there, somewhere, to test us, and to drive us to madness, because of our weakness. Nevertheless, he told Kevin that it is all a setup, a kind of choreography even, and that it is up to us to make the choice of how to live our lives. There is no rest in life from the devil, or from his temptations, but there is a way to overcome the devil, through resistance and through rebellion against the devil's methods and ways. Vanity may seem trifle, but it is not. I hope Kevin did not allow glory or any exceeding heroism to destroy his life again. Now, I loved this film incredibly much, and I have watched it countless of times. I really wanted to give it five stars, but there was one thing, one flaw, that really made me drop one star off the rating. It was not the wonderful script; it was not the extraordinary acting; it was not the intriguing special affects. It was not the supernatural scenes. It was the name of the devil. Why would any one wish to tarnish the name of the author of `Paradise Lost'? I do not believe this meant to suggest that the viewers in their masses were ignorant, despite the fact that most viewers had never heard of John Milton. Moreover, I did not fail to understand the irony, for the devil is a mocker, and he would surely enjoy misusing, abusing, and tarnishing the good name of John Milton by manifesting as a human. Suppose it was intended by the script writers to render irony, for their defense it could have been acceptable, but not by those who really appreciate `Paradise Lost' or the structure of the film. Firstly, calling the devil John Milton has created a paradox between the reality of the film and our own reality. Was it a fiction film or was it not? I doubt it was intended that the viewer will ask the above question and become confused. Secondly, and that is a matter of judgment, I found it cheap and unprofessional on one hand to call the devil John Milton, and on the other hand I found it unethical, indecent, and disrespectful. If the script writers wish to blame it on the devil, let them do so, but I think it was vanity which made them make this film imperfect. Otherwise, it was one of the best films ever made and I recommend it warmly to everyone who is fascinated by the story of `Paradise Lost'.』

(the devil's advocate)
『I'm a big Al Pacino and Keanu Reeves fan, so this movie hit the spot. Great service and great product.』

(Devil's Advocate)
『Al Pacino is fantastic as always and his end speech near the altar talking about God is superb. Keanu Reeves also delivered one of the best performances. This movie is sexy and provocative. Excellent.』

("Paging Beelzebub, Paging a Mister Beelzebub")
『I thought George Reeves was dead. Besides, didn't he play Superman, not the Devil? And -- What's that? George Reeves isn't in the movie? It's *Keanu* Reeves?

... Oh.

Okay, but what's with Charlize Theron, the Devil doesn't chat her up? The Devil doesn't ask her to stand on a mirror? The Devil doesn't order out and ask her to play hide the salami? What kind of a loser of a Devil is this?

What? There's nothing in Aristotle's theory of dramatics that says Charlize Theron has to get hit on by the Devil?

... Oh, okay.

But, but -- but what about Al Pacino, what's his part in this story? Oh, *he's* the devil! What, because he was in The Godfather? Because he's Italian? (Prejudice! Prejudice!) And I suppose Charlize Theron never dated Italians, is that it?!

What's this fellow "Keanu" supposed to be anyway, Hawaiian? What was he Actor of the Year in Oahu? Send him back to his little grass shack. I bet he never met Don Ho. Did he ever say Hi-ho to Don Ho? Do they let Italians into Hawaii? What's the Devil's position on that? And why wasn't Charlize Theron wearing a hula skirt in this flicker? I'm not clear.

Anyway, the Devil's not such a bad guy. He was a pretty popular dude up to the 14th century. That's when he made a big mistake and hired a really awful publicist -- Gina Bellapartes. A dead ringer for Charlize Theron. Italian, a great body, but she couldn't type a lick. Which, the licking part, the Devil got to later on.

That woman sent Beelezebub's career into a tailspin. Hey! Maybe that's why they got Al Pacion to play the Devil! *His* career is in a tailspin, no? -- He's never been to Hawaii. -- George Reeves is still dead. -- And God is in his heaven.

By gosh, by golly, it all makes sense now!

(MUST SEE!!!!)
『One of my favorite films!!! Al Pacino at his best!!! If you're a fan of Al, you are definitely going to like him in this flick.

This movie is basically about the struggle between good and evil played out in the legal world amongst attorneys. Who wins.... Watch it to find out!!!:)

『Too old for Hamlet and too young for Lear--what's an ambitious actor to do? Play the Devil, of course. Jack Nicholson did it inThe Witches of Eastwick; Robert De Niro did it inAngel Heart(as Louis Cyphre--get it?). InThe Devil's AdvocateAl Pacino takes his turn as the great Satan, and clearly relishes his chance to raise hell. He's a New York lawyer, of course, by the name of John Milton, who recruits a hotshot young Florida attorney (Keanu Reeves) to his firm and seduces him with tempting offers of power, sex, and money. Think of the story as a twist on John Grisham'sThe Firm, with the corporate evil made even more explicit. Reeves is wooden, and therefore doesn't seem to have much of a soul to lose, but he's really just our excuse to meet the devil. Pacino's the main attraction, gleefully showing off his--and the Antichrist's--chops at perpetrating menace and mayhem. The film was directed by Taylor Hackford (Against All Odds,Dolores Claiborne), who provides alternate-track commentary for the movie itself, plus a dozen deleted scenes. Also note: due to a settlement with artist Frederick Hart over the movie's use of a sculpture resembling hisEx Nihiloin Washington's National Cathedral, future releases of the film will be altered.--Jim Emerson
