(In the Zone) 『I'm a fan of Anthony Michael Hall and I love his work, especially in the Dead Zone series. For me, it's not all based on the story, which is great when it's a nail-biter and makes you hold your breath, but I also put great value to the quality of the acting and the actors. If they aren't performing up to my standards, then I won't watch the program. I've always felt that the actors performances in this series was outstanding. I've come to feel like they are real people and I get involved in their characters emotionally. When they hurt, I hurt, etc. If you love sci-fi, great acting and stories that keep you in your seat, then you'll love this series too!』
(Great Sci Fi series) 『Awesome science fiction series. I recommend it for all you psychic fans. It had a many really interesting, thought provoking episodes.』
(Just love the series...) 『not much more to say. We just really like the series. Wish it would continue.』
(pretty good, could have been better....) 『The dead zone is a great show. I find season 5 good but could have been better. Is finding good writters so hard ? Here you have a series that can be used to open so many doors to great stories and only minor doors are open and the same types of stories come out simular to other shows... The dead zone has produced many many great stand alone stories that could be seen as mini movies. Imagine our hero helping people in different countries with their taboos, or hidden treasures..creatures...ahh so many possibilities . To finish my comments, i still think the first 2 seasons had some of the best stories.』 『Based on the characters and story from the best-selling book by Stephen King, THE DEAD ZONE is a unique psychological thriller that combines a rich mix of action, the paranormal and a continuing quest for justice. Guttenberg plays Buzzy, a down-on-his-luck former journalist relegated to concocting stories for aWeekly World News-inspired tabloid. When an elderly woman approaches Buzzy with a compelling ghost story, he's persuaded to investigate. Dunst is Anna, who joins Buzzy in his search to find out the truth about the mysterious 1939 disappearance of five people--including a Shirley Temple-like child star--at the eerily abandoned Hollywood Tower Hotel. A beautiful looking film dated in an alternate 50s setting with dressed up technicolor that looks amazing. Great story and acting take place throughout this treat of a film. (A Boy And His Zombie...) 『The zombie wars have ended. The world has been saved through zombie-containment, and now everyone can own one! FIDO detonates the 1950s ideal society by adding enslaved flesheaters to Pleasantville. Enter FIDO (Billy Connolly) to make their lives complete. However, accidents do happen, causing slight disturbances in our suburban dreamland. The beauty of FIDO is its use of black humor / parody / satire in order to skewer isolated, separated, sterile suburbia and its inhabitants. (The Atomic Age meets Night of the Living Dead, with loads of laughs) 『As a zombie fan I absolutely love this film. It's refreshing to see a comedic take on the zombie genre and really breaks the glaring monotony of running-zombie cash-in flicks abound at the box office.
A fan of tradition slow-walking zombies, and of Day of the Dead to which this film pays incredible homage too, Fido is the funniest film since Shaun of the Dead in that it doesn't try to be every other zombie movie. There aren't supersonic-hopped-up-on-caffeine-and-steroids fueled fast zombies here, so if your looking for that kind of action, check out something else. Otherwise if you're looking a campy giggle, pop this into your DVD player, you won't be disappointed.
As a parting note, I really dig the Retro feel of the film. They really went the mile in bringing to life the 1950's Americana complete with vibrant colors and Apple pie in the Sky attitude. Release Date: 09/09/2008 Starring: Dylan Baker Billy Connolly Run time: 92 minutes Rating: R』 『It doesn't take long for the hilarity ofFido's central idea to kick in: the world is reeling from the Zombie War, and the undead are being contained in two different ways. Some of them are roaming loose in fenced-off wilderness zones. The rest are, thanks to the good people at the ZomCom corporation, docile and domesticated--indeed, available as house servants for the upwardly-mobile. Such is the case with the Robinson family, a suburban clan who seem to have stepped straight out of an old episode ofLassie. Little Timmy is happy about the new manservant, whom he promptly dubs "Fido," and Fido himself is fine as long as the mechanical collar around his neck doesn't malfunction (in which case he will revert to being a cannibalistic brain-eating zombie). Fido is played, in a stroke of inspiration, by the Scots comedian Billy Connolly, although you wouldn't be able to recognize him without already knowing he's in the movie. Dylan Baker and especially Carrie-Anne Moss are just right as Timmy's parents, who have accidentally wandered out of a John Cheever novel and into a George Romero world. Director Andrew Currie skillfully gets the 1950s satire and the zombie action right, although there's no way to disguise that this premise is too thin to spread out over feature length. For a while, though,Fidohits a stride--a staggering, vacant-eyed stride.--Robert Horton』

(Zombie classic) 『What can you say about a movie populated with truly blood-thirsty zombies, strippers that turn into zombies and one of them is Jenna Jameson? Don't expect a lot of sparkling dialog but do expect lots of innovative ways to kill zombies !
Certainly not a movie for the kids, the squeamish or the prudish this film is not quite on par with "Planet Terror" but it was almost as much fun as watching Rose McGowan splattering zombies with her M-16/Grenade launching artifical leg. Overall I was quite surprised, the special effects were top notch "Zombie-Rama" quality.
So if you are a fan of camp, 70's style, exploitation, blood and guts fests with the obligatory gratuitous nudity (and who isn't LOL) you won't be disappointed. The take off on the ping pong ball scene from "The Adventures of Priscilla Queen of the Desert" alone makes this disc worth the price of admission.』

(The allure of the night life) 『I couldn't resist this one. I kept looking at it's cover when I visited the local store, and finally I took the plunge. And yes, it's a hoot to watch. I always thought Rob Zombie might make films along these lines. It's campy, sexy, funny, and frightening in a fun way. I was also pleasantly surprised with the sophistication of the make-up and direction of the film by Jay Lee, not to mention the wonderful attention to lighting and color. If you haven't yet watched this movie then definitely pick it up to watch on Halloween. It's the perfect trick or treat film.』
(This is not your typical Zombie movie) 『I can remember when I read about Zombie Strippers. First off this isn't your typical Zombie movie. You'll understand that when I give my review. So without any further hesitation here it is.
Zombie Strippers:
On the surface Zombie Strippers seems like your typical Zombie movies. There is a little twist at the end that ties it together but I won't be posting any spoilers to let the viewer decide for themselves. The basic story is a Government agency employs a skilled group of Mercs who are trying control a Zombie virus which is active in the X chromosome and is pure among women, but around men it makes them ravaging lunatics. The movie pokes fun at both men, and women in this instance but doesn't stay around too long, instead moving forth to the conflict. The virus spreads to "Rhinos" where some very interesting things erupt. Including a Jenna Jameson shot involving golf balls, and cue balls. This is definitely not a zombie movie for your girlfriend. If anything its to be watched with a group of your buddies during Poker night.
The effects are spot on and a few of them even had me cringing. You've got more topless action than you can poke a stick at including one full nude scene, that quips a reaction you wouldn't expect.
Robert Englund is gold as the sleazy club owner. Jenna Jameson, and Roxi are gold in their parts. The zombies talk, and are given a personality, all while the consequences of greed, and government intrusion are explored.
Some people may not like this because the social tones are not what they'd expect, and the budget doesn't work for them. They nit pick the acting in it. But I enjoyed the movie. It's fun, and doesn't take itself too seriously. The story can be a bit predictable, but it was a nice diversion from everything else you've seen. Ortiz has a bit part. But all in all you should enjoy this movie. If you don't like strippers, and nudity you won't like this. If you like all the elements mixed for something different than you will.
This is a zombie movie with comedy elements.』 『The world's most famous adult film star, Jenna Jameson stars in this thrilling zombie adventure. In the not too distant future a secret government re-animation chemo-virus gets released into conservative Sartre, Nebraska and lands in an underground strip club. As the virus begins to spread, turning the strippers into "Super Zombie Strippers" the girls struggle with whether or not to conform to the new "fad" even if it means there's no turning back. They're not just strippers...They're Zombie Strippers !!』 『Get yourself a snappy title and a couple of marquee names (however disreputable) and you might just snag your no-budget movie a national release--asZombie Stripperscolorfully proves. The names in question belong to porn star Jenna Jameson and Freddie Krueger himself, Robert Englund, both of whom look quite comfortable in this sleazy milieu. As the title suggests (well, "suggests" might be a mild word), there has been an outbreak of the undead in a strip club, with strippers actually improving their onstage antics after they've become zombies. (Given the number of implants on display, it's a wonder the zombies didn't keel over from silicone poisoning.) Englund is the proprietor of the place, Jameson is a star dancer, and a couple of actresses in the "nice girl" roles don't have to take their tops off, although almost everybody else does. Writer-director Jay Lee fills the movie with political gags and a bunch of philosophy references (Jameson reads Nietzsche, the locale is Sartre, Nebraska), all of which play like a lame attempt to distinguish his movie as something other than a puerile horror-comedy. Only thing is, when you try to disguise the fact that you've made a puerile horror-comedy, it kind of takes the oomph out of both the horror and the comedy. The political jibes are about as feeble as those inSouthland Tales, but at leastZombie Strippersis shorter. Shot on video, it looks atrocious, but perhaps that doesn't matter very much.--Robert Horton』

The Devil, you say? The Masque of the Red Death is the first feature of this flip-around DVD. Roger Corman directs and produces another Poe-related story, this time telling the story of the tyrant Prospero, played to its evil height by Vincent Price. He arrives at a village, ostensibly thanking them for harvest. In response they grumble and one guy tells him where he can take his thanks. Oops. Mayhem ensues.
Corman weaves quite the tapestry of eerie imagery, only touched on with "The Pit and The Pendulum." The dream sequence with Juliana becoming betrothed to Satan is horrific and somehow sexually interesting, in a perverse sort of way.
Who is the Red Death was a shocker, had no clue. If you ever saw the ending to The Prisoner The Prisoner: The Complete Series [Blu-ray] with Patrick Magoohan, it's like that -- complete shock! The evil Juliana is played in a subdued manner by the actress Hazel Court Dr. Blood's Coffin, and the hot peasant girl Francesca (yeah, yeah) was played in a realistic but timid manner by Joan Asher
The macabre scenes (burning man) and the colored rooms and colored disguises were masterfully done. The red and green candles, and so on, paint an imagery within an imagery. Nicely done.
Features on this side of DVD Hell: Roger Corman Behind the Masque == interesting thought processes, making of feature; he goes over ALL his Poe films, discusses the studio problems, production situations and that "Masque" is his best one. Amazing use of colored lighting, scenery, distorted lens and intense music by David Lee.
Interestingly, he states he studied the German Expressionist films of the 1920s, as well as Hitchcock and Bergman, when making the Poe films. Didn't know that!
And of course the inevitable trailer which gives the whole shock ending away! Thanks a lot!!
***
Lay me down! Roger Corman could not get Vincent for The Premature Burial, so picked up actor Ray Milland, who has done a few scifi films (X - The Man with the X-Ray Eyes, etc.), does not do a bad job as Guy, a medical student who is scared to death (pun) of being buried alive!
Ray plays a man who is on the edge, who paints weird paintings and drinks to death. He even builds a crypt that is escape-proof. His wife, played by the same actress as in Masque, Hazel Court, plays a role in this film with the theme I've seen before -- pretty much guessed early on what was happening, but the ending left me a bit flat.
Milland is a very proper mad Britain in this film. He walks through his part in some odd inconsistent way that does not play right the way Vincent Price would have played it. Decent Corman film, not as good as Masque, not only because of the miscast Ray Milland but also the effects though interesting did not create that atmosphere of the macabre that I've come to love about Price films.
Its saving grace was in the use of music -- the wide mouth followed by the horn in the background was quite chilling in the (inevitable) dream sequence.
Roger Corman interview gets into the mind of the man who made both films, I found very interesting and may attract the amateur movie-maker.
Overall, the MGM Midnite series is awesome and should be purchased in all its incarnations.

(God bless every good Christian) 『--and every good Christian needs to see MASQUE. Given enough cognac, even Poe would be happy with this film. It's such a sublimely tolerable delight -- the moral and the decadent done up in garish splendor and good humor (although if you give in to the humor while watching, how DARE you!). Surely Vincent Price is one of the ten best actors ever. Director, Corman; screenwriters -- names I've forgotten. One of the best lines of the movie? "I have survived my own sacrifice" (to Belial, of course). One of the few horror movies from this or any period that doesn't find you asking the age-old question, "When's the monster gonna come?!" And such blessedly sweet innocence in the redheaded Francesca. Truly a cathartic carnal carnival.』
(The Premature Burial (1962) - Well Done!) 『The Premature Burial (1962) was a well done four star Roger Corman production that I first saw in 1962 in New York. This film was another predictably good Roger Corman production with grand sets, costumes, story and acting. After rewatching all three of Roger Corman's Poe films for 1960 through 1962 I started asking myself how many times can you make a film about premature burial? If you think about it, the theme of Corman's first three Poe films all involved a creepy setting with crypts, an unwanted guest, and premature burial of one kind or another.
I don't agree that the Masque of the Red Death was one of Corman's best films but it was a nice change from the overused theme of premature burial. I missed the Masque when it first came out in 1964 but was lucky enough to have a friend who was a film editor bring it to my home on 16 mm in 1971 for a private showing. It was definitely good, as far as this reviewer was concerned, very different and nicely done.』
(Roger Corman's best) 『Price and Corman were a wonderful working duo. And Corman's love for Poe's work shows. The Masque of The Red Death I think is one of Corman's best works, and is very artistic. Although I missed seeing Price in The Premature Burial, I was still enraptured with Milland's doomed character Guy, and worked very well in the role. An excellent gothic horror movie double feature worth seeing!』
(5 Stars for Masque - 2 Stars for Premature Burial) 『Filmed in lush color, brimming with evil, and Vincent Price showing us he really did know how to act - all of these make Masque of the Red Death something very special.
Unfortunately Premature Burial should have remained the fate of the film of the same name. It was unceremoniously dug up to form a double bill for the Midnite Movies series. It would have merited 3 stars on its own, but drops to 2 stars because Masque totally eclipses it.
Sit back and enjoy Masque some evening - you'll be glad you did!』 『The Masque of the Red Death: Death and Debauchery reign in the castle of Prince Prospero (Vincent Price), and when it reigns... it pours! Prospero has only once excuse for his diabolical deeds--the devil made him do it! But when a mysterious, uninvited guest crashes his pad during a masquerade ball, there'll be hell to pay as the party atmosphere turns into adanse macabre!
The Premature Burial: Talk about a tortured artist! Oscar winner Ray Milland is Guy, a medical student and painter whose obsessive fear of being buried alive compels him to build himself a tomb with a view, equipped with everything he can think of to escape death. But it's when his long-suffering wife convinces him to destroy the tomb that he finds himself in the gravest danger!』
『The Masque of the Red Death(1964) is Roger Corman's, and most people's, choice as the best of the Edgar Allan Poe pictures.Masqueoffers the expected creepy atmosphere and violence against peasants, plus metaphysical ponderings and pointed satanic cruelty. (Corman was operating as much under the influence of Ingmar Bergman as of Edgar Allan Poe.) Nicolas Roeg's color cinematography and Daniel Haller's elaborate production design would be stellar in any Hollywood A-movie; the mono-colored rooms of the prince's castle are a startling effect. Vincent Price is in fine fettle as Prince Prospero, the devil-worshipping sadist who throws lavish parties while the countryside is ravaged by the plague.
The Premature Burial(1962) substitutes Ray Milland in the usual Price role. He's a snarky landowner (with a sideline in art--dig those mod paintings) haunted by the fear of being buried alive. This single-minded focus limits the film, but it also adds to the smothering sense of anxiety that prevails throughout its unhealthy scenario. Luscious Hazel Court is Milland's new missus, and old-school cameraman Floyd Crosby proves his facility for photographing women in a classical style. Lots of cobwebs-on-candelabra in the customary Corman-Poe manner, with special emphasis on Milland's crypt, with its supposedly foolproof exit schemes.--Robert Horton』

Usually ships in 24 hours Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review ("Be Afraid, Be Very Afraid.") 『No doubt, you've heard that classic line before in other films. Well, this is the legendary sci-fi/horror film they are referencing every time they utter those menacing words. Believe it or not, 1986's David Cronenberg film, "The Fly", is both a masterpiece and a remake at the same time, and here's the story:
Seth Brundle (Jeff Goldblum) is a scientist working on a world-changing invention. He has developed a working teleportation system! With two intimidating telepods connected to a high-tech computer, Seth can send objects from one pod to the other by teleportation, but his crux is the human issue. Flesh in general, actually, which only confuses the computer thus far. Enter journalist Veronica Quaife (Geena Davis), who gets involved with both Brundle's invention story and Brundle himself. It's this love story between Seth and Veronica that is the strength of the picture, no small part being the unwelcome third party of Veronica's ex-boyfriend/boss, the insufferable Stathis Borans (John Getz). However, the core of the film is Brundle's transformation story, an allegory for aging, disease, and death. You see, as Seth and Veronica's relationship blooms, his project's development seemingly benefiting, a wrench is thrown into the gears in the form of a tiny insect. An otherwise harmless housefly just happens to fly into one of Seth's telepods as he decides to test it out on himself, and the confused computer ends up merging the two, sending Seth into a downward spiral of physical and mental decay and distortion that at times is more than a little difficult to watch. And you can imagine how hard it must be for Veronica, who soon discovers she is carrying Seth's potentially affected offspring.
Remakes and sequels are rampant these days, with the big Hollywood studios only wanting to take a chance on films that should guarantee some solid returns, and a lot of film fans seem to be more than a little put out about it. Granted, they can feel very uninspired, and many such films, especially the remakes, aren't worth the price of a ticket when you could probably own the usually superior originals for just as much. However, there probably aren't many better cases for the "remake" than Cronenberg's take on "The Fly". The first film version came out in 1958 and spawned a couple of sequels. It definitely had its cheese factor, but myself and many others still enjoy it today. It was bizarre, but very entertaining (as the bizarre often is). The remake takes the same basic premise of a scientist getting into his teleportation pod with an unnoticed fly and coming out in a bad way for it. However, at the same time, it is so very different and adds so much to the story. It's so much more than just an update. As I mentioned before, and as the director points out often in his commentary on this blu-ray disc, the film is largely two things: A tragic love story and an allegory of aging and death. In fact, it wasn't intended so much to be about disease, but the heightened fear of the AIDS virus at the time of the film's release certainly made it seem that way, especially considering the make-up effects used on Jeff Goldblum throughout that did take disease into account as an inspiration. Anyway, this combined romance story and personal disintegration story is so masterfully presented in "The Fly" that it is without a doubt one of the most unforgettable films you'll ever watch! The Oscar winning effects are high on the gross-out meter, but nothing about this film is over-the-top (deleted scenes aside), unless you count a very disturbing childbirth dream sequence. The troubling thing about The Fly is just how realistic it all is, and it IS downright horrifying. Actually, if I had one gripe about this film, it's that I do wish the final incarnation of Brundlefly looked a wee bit more like a fly, though Cronenberg insists that he wanted it to keep the ability to convey emotion. I still think body language could have said enough and Seth should have turned out even more fly-like, but it doesn't affect the movie's excellence and it remains a masterpiece to me.
The performances in "The Fly" (the cast is very small) are outstanding. Of course, Jeff Goldblum always is a treat to watch. The writing at times is sheer poetry. The music is excellent and I already mentioned the Academy honored effects. This is one of those sci-fi/horror films that really does the genre a service by going all the way as a work of storytelling art. The Blu-Ray is no slouch either. The film looks and sounds better than ever and there is a wealth of bonus features, including a very lengthy making-of featurette and a director commentary. There are also galleries, a fly swatting game, and pop up trivia, though the pop up trivia isn't really worthwhile if you listen to the commentary and watch the making-of. Trailers, at least one Easter Egg, and other bonus features are also included. I didn't really understand the Personal Scene Selections feature or how it was different from the regular Scene Selection. Over all though, a very impressive and highly affordable Blu-Ray release I definitely recommend. Sci-Fi horror fan or not, if you are trying to build a genre transcending library of the best films ever, you've got to have a space somewhere for Cronenberg's "The Fly". 』
(Picture a bit soft, effects still pretty amazing) 『I just watched this on my 42" Panasonic Plasma and BD35 Player. It was not the sharpest picture, but I'd say a 3.5/5 for PQ and 4/5 for AQ. The storyline, Jeff Goldblum and Gina Davis were great. The creature effects matched Jeff's eccentric personality well, and were a mix of funny, but still rather groundbreaking in the grand scheme of things. I can't say I'd buy this disc (mine came free with an early adopter BD promo in '07), but I definitely recommend you viewing it if you're a fan of the director,or actors, and like this type of flick. It still stands up!』
(THE FLYEST COUPLE) 『HEY THIS IS WHERE JEFF AND GINA MET!!! I THOUGHT IT WAS CUTE HOW THEY ROMANCED AND WORKED TOGETHER. SHE IS A REPORTER DOING A SYNOPSIS ON THE EXPERIMENTS OF JEFF(DR. SETH). HER BOSS IS OBSESSING OVER HER CAUSE HE LIKES HER,BUT AFTER JEFF(DR. SETH) BONES HER,THAT IS IT. HE INSTEAD OF WAITING FOR ANOTHER PERSON TO BE PRESENT DOES THE EXPERIENMENT HIMSELF ALONE,NOT KNOWING THE POD HE LOCKED HIMSELF IN,A FLY HAS COME ALONG FOR THE RIDE AND THE GENETIC TISSUE IS RECORDED CHANGING HIS WHOLE THESIS. HE HIMSELF STARTS TO TRANSFORM INTO A HUMAN FLY. SHE LEARNS SHE IS PREGNANT AND IS AFRAID OF KNOWING WHAT MAY BE INSIDE OF HER AS A RESULT TO HAVING SEXUAL RELATIONS TO DR. SETH.』
(THE FLY) 『An old film that I always liked and wanted to experience it in Blu-ray. Still one of my favorites.』
("I'm an insect who dreamt he was a man and loved it. But now the dream is over... and the insect is awake."-) 『David Cronenberg took the same approach as John Carpenter did with his remake of "The Thing"; he created a film that is every bit as unique as the original film returning to the themes that interested him. The screenplay by Charles Edward Pogue and Cronenberg focuses on Seth Brundle (Jeff Goldbloom) who creates a device to teleport things but he's failed at teleporting humans. Science writer Ronnie (Gena Davis) chronicles his attempt to figure out why he can't transport humans. He licks the problem and foolishly decides to make himself the first human test subject. When a fly accidently gets into the telepod, the computer combines the DNA of Seth and the fly creating a bizarre hybrid in the process.
The blu-ray looks good but not as brilliant as I had hoped. Keep in mind that the source is over 21 years old. The fly does look better than the DVD with a sharper image, better depth and detail but it doesn't look as good as a more recent film. Make no mistake though it IS an improvement but it's incremental not a huge leap.
We get all the extras from the previous two disc edition including the excellent documentary on the making of the movie. The new extras here include a swat the fly game (which like the annoying "Build a Gort" a game on "The Day the Earth Stood Still" is a waste of resources). We also get a good trivia track and blu-ray search index. All the other extras including the commentary tracks and featurettes are ported over from the regular DVD.
While the Blu-ray transfer here isn't a huge leap compared to the DVD (I suspect the previous high def remaster that was prepared for the DVD reissue forms the basis for this version), it does look better than the DVD. It's a pity that Fox didn't elect to do an upgraded high def transfer but what we do get looks quite good. The film which came out during the beginning of the AIDS epidemic was seen as a metaphor for that outbreak the film manages to touch on a number of common themes in Cronenberg's work. It's a terrific film that manages to be creepy, humorous and touching. I'd give the film five stars, the transfer three and the extras four.』 『Seth Brundle, a brilliant but eccentric scientist attempts to woo investigative journalist Veronica Quaife by offering her a scoop on his latest research in the field of matter transportation, which against all the expectations of the scientific establishment have proved successful. Brundle thinks he has ironed out the last problem when he successfully transports a living creature, but when he attempts to teleport himself a fly enters one of the transmission booths, and Brundle finds he is a changed man.』 『David Cronenberg's 1986 remake of the science fiction classic about a scientist who accidentally swaps body parts with a fly is both smart and terrifying: an allegory for the awful processes of slow death and a monster movie with a tragic spin. Jeff Goldblum gives a masterful performance as a sweet, nerdy scientist whose romance with a writer (Geena Davis) makes him more fully alive. Next thing you know, a tiny oversight in an experiment causes him to transmogrify, gradually, into something more like an insect than a human. This is Cronenberg (Scanners,Videodrome) country, so expectThe Flyto be a gross-out, but in the way that disease corrupts the body and can make a loved one unrecognizable on every level. This is one of Cronenberg's best films, and certainly one of the important movies of the 1980s.--Tom Keogh』

This movie, I actually enjoyed. I thought it will be a cheesy lame remake but it wasn't, like I said. Usually the 2nd movies are lame, and the directors try to make it "big" but this movie was good. Its definitely worth the money, but its no Oscar movie. I recommend to buy it!』
(Suprisingly good Direct-to-DVD sequel!) 『
A popular "Survivor" and "Battle Royale"-style reality show from Hollywood is being filmed in the woods of Virginia, former retired Commander Dale Murphy (Henry Rollins) with a group of misfits (Erica Leerhsen, Texas Battle, Steve Braun, Crystal Lowe, Daniella Alonso) are gonna film the show. But things go wrong on their first day as Murphy is kidnapped by a group of cannibalistic inbred mutant hillbillies that want him for dinner and plans on killing the rest of the team including filmmakers, but can some of them survive and escape the terror that is happening in the woods.
A pleasant and violent suprise! This is the long awaited sequel to the quite excellent "Wrong Turn" from 2003 and it delivers all the goods for fans of the original. This one is gorier, more thrilling and action packed then the original but lacks some of the supense and characterization of the first movie. I also love how it has more of a backstory to the inbreeding redneck mutant killers, i think this is a fun follow-up to a great movie and worth a view.
This DVD contains the unrated cut with more gore and scenes then before! with great extras like commentaries, trailer, featurettes, bloopers and more.』
(Good Sequel!) 『This movie picks right up where the other movie "Wrong Turn" left off. In the previous movie a group of travelers wind up lost in the Appalachian Mountains of West Virginia. They are forced to flee the inbred cannibals who live there. In this show a TV crew once again travels to the Appalachian Mountains to do some shooting. It doesn't take long before the crew is pursued as a source of food by the inbred cannibals who live there. One by one the crew becomes a meal for the cannibals. The cannibals have all sorts of traps that are used to trap humans. As the TV crew attempts to escape they discover the many means that the cannibals have to trap the humans. They even find a garage where the vehicles of their victims are stored. The TV crew winds up having a pitched battle with the cannibals to survive. Despite being grizzly this movie is action packed. This movie is not for the squeamish. The ending scene in the movie will shock you.』
(Filmmakers To Audience: We Hate You) 『As pointless and uninteresting as the original WRONG TURN was, this sequel just amps up how lame and unnecessary this whole storyline is.
Characters? Just victims to be killed off without much thought or development. Plotline? Phoned in. Even if you can't tell exactly what happens before it happens, you certainly aren't surprised by anything that does happen. Overall effect? Haven't we seen everything here already somewhere else?
Henry Rollins gearing up for battle by making arrows with dynamite sticks and rubbing war paint on his face. Wasn't that Arnold in PREDATOR? The hot chick tied to a chair and forced to endure the inbreds at dinners. Now that was definitely THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE. The inbreds are worse than the inbreds in the first film, but closer to the mutants in equally-lame THE HILLS HAVE EYES remakes, which rip off the 70s version of those movies.
No wit, no curveballs, nothing well done. It's just all so bloody and predictable. And dull.
This is where we are now: the most revolting violence and sickest behavior is boring and uninteresting. This can't be healthy.』
("Better Than The Original!") 『Very few films have ever been a hit when they go directly to DVD release, but "Wrong Turn 2" was a certified smash upon its release in 2008. Based on the original "Wrong Turn", this sequel grossed over 12 million dollars when it came out on DVD, covering its cost of a 4 million dollar budget. The film features a bunch of young people going into the outback to film a TV series familiar in theme to television's stupid reality show "Survivor". Eventually one by one these people are killed by crazed in-breeders living in isolation in the wilderness. The movie is pure escapist fun and if you love horror films "Wrong Turn 2" will satisfy your appetite for blood, guts, and gore. Another sequel "Wrong Turn 3-Left For Dead" arrives in video stores October 20th, 2009 just in time for Halloween. This DVD features a ton of featurettes, three in all, including a great documentary with the cast and crew on the making of the film. There are also commentaries. The movie is 97 minutes long and subtitles are in spanish.』 『Studio: Tcfhe Release Date: 09/09/2008 Run time: 93 minutes Rating: Ur』 『By adding the Japanese cult movieBattle RoyaletoWrong Turn's cinematic puree ofDeliveranceandThe Hills Have Eyes,Wrong Turn 2primes itself for some clever spins on the repetitive inbred-mutant-humans-hunt-and-eat-sexy-young-people genre. A pseudo-post-apocalypseSurvivor-type game show brings five sexy young people (a bitchy vegan, a loudmouth skateboarder, a lesbian marine, a straight-laced jock, and a slutty...uh...apparently, she's just a slut) to the Appalachian woods, where inbred mutant humans start picking them and the TV crew off. Also along for the ride is the tough-as-nails host (Henry Rollins,Bad Boys II), who goes native and starts hunting the inbred mutant humans. Regrettably, the game plotline is soon tossed aside and the movie settles into a straightforward hunt-kill-eat scenario. But for fans of the genre,Wrong Turn 2does a good job: The sequence of deaths is not entirely predictable and you get to see one pair of exposed breasts, two sets of exposed intestines, and literal barrels of gore. Featuring horror flick stars Erica Leerhsen (the remake ofThe Texas Chainsaw Massacre), Crystal Lowe (Black Christmas), Texas Battle (Final Destination 3), Daniella Alonso (The Hills Have Eyes II), D-list celebrity hostess Kimberly Caldwell, and Aleksa Palladino (who once had a promising career in decent indie movies likeManny&Lo,The Adventures of Sebastian Cole, andStorytelling).--Bret Fetzer』

Usually ships in 24 hours Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (the damned don't cry) 『Under no circumstance can I give this movie more than one star after the way that Joan Crawford (may she rest in peace) was mistreated and abused by the producers, the director and the high holy priestess of the silver screen, Ruth Elizabeth Davis.
Although I have never been too interested in her, I know that Bette Davis was a talented actress, but she could also be very callous and vengeful and extremely mean-spirited. I find it inexcusable that she collectively had poor Joan blackballed because Bette Davis was jealous of Joan's beauty and gentility and gracefulness. Joan Crawford, a star who pioneered the modern American cinematic form, a star who acted in silents when Bette Davis was still in nappies, no less, deserved much, much better than she received.
According to Joan's close friends and assistants at the time, Joan was so emotionally and physically torn, drained and beaten down from the wanton abuse that Bette Davis threw at her that she had no other choice but to check herself into the hospital. Joan did not know how to fight. She was not a fighter in the literal sense. Joan was a pacifist who loved people. And we have to remember that this was her doctor's orders and it was for her own personal health and well-being. And while poor Joan was in the hospital she actually heard of her firing over the radio. They just threw her away like yesterdays newspaper. So sad and so tragic and so disrespectful and disgraceful. But Joan (may she rest in peace) was always a professional and always such a kind and wonderful person and even until the day she passed away never had a bad word to say about Bette Davis or the producers of this film.
Bette Davis always got the very best writers, directors, editors and producers and scripts. Like a poor, starving, innocent, puppy, looking for tables-scraps, Joan simply had to make do with whatever the studio was throwing her way. But Joan, unlike Bette, was always able to make it work because she personified the American woman. She worked harder than any other (wo)man in Hollywood and like a cat holding onto it's 9th life, sustained her career for 6 decades.
As if playing second-fiddle to a second-rate "actress" wasn't bad enough, kind-hearted Joan had to contend with the veiled comments about her appearance, too. Yet, these same critics making these comments almost never bothered to mention that Joan always looked at least 17 years younger than Better Davis. Nor did they ever mention how beautiful and elegant Joan always looked whenever she was seen out in public, even when she was well into her late '60s.
Joan made a classic movie of her own in 1964, titled "Strait-Jacket." And as Ms. Diane Baker (Joan's co-star in the film said in the '02 DVD featurette) if it hadn't been a horror movie, where, by now everyone had all of these preconceived notions about Joan, she likely would have been nominated for an Oscar.
Incidentally, the plot of "Hush...Hush...Sweet Charlotte" is actually rather similar to Joan's other 1964 film, "Fatal Confinement," which is much, much better than "Hush...Hush...Sweet Charlotte" (and came out first.)
I found the performance (or lack there of) by Bette Davis to be lacking in anything even remotely real and human. Like most of her roles (with a very, small exception) she came off as hard, brazen, not very ladylike and rather inhuman (and inhumane) and un-relatable. Incidentally, Agnes Moorhead looked like a regular transvestite. The only performance that was not lacking pretense was that of Ms. Olivia de Havilland (who is still very much alive and kicking.)
If you can find the rare Key Video release of this film, I say get it only because it has a rather unusual cover. However I do not recommend this movie for any other purposes, but if you really must see it wait for it to come on TV.
According to Wikipedia there is actually an original scene in the movie that Joan filmed that is still intact, "There is a long shot in the beginning of the movie, when Miriam gets out of the taxi upon her arrival at the Hollis plantation, that actually shows the back of Joan Crawford's head and not de Havilland's." Why would Joan's portion be left in and not cut out? Some conspirisists think that this was done on purpose to capitalize on Joan's huge name and worldwide box office appeal and loyal public, who, to this day only have the best to say about her.
Contrary to many books and reports stating otherwise, there was never a "feud" between Joan and Bette Davis. Joan was too much of a lady to wallow in the mud with the pigs and simply found it beneath her to ever disrespect anyone, so she simply said nothing. That is one of the (many) reasons why I have so much respect for her.
No, this is not the review you probably came here to read but I didn't start witting reviews on this forum more than 10 years ago (over 500 to date) to be anyone's patsy. These are my opinions and I stand by them because this is how I feel about a very poor movie that could have been very good. sometimes I really believe that I would be more welcome at a clan rally because some people on this forum are so threatened by anyone else's different opinions because they're afraid that it will undermine their own.』
(Hush Hush Sweet Charlotte) 『Love this movie, but ordered for a friend who loves it even more!!! It's a classic!』
(FANTASTIC PERFORMANCES) 『Bette Davis, Olivia deHavilland&Agnes Moorehead gives fantastic performances in this wonderful if slightly over the top horror classic. This film was nominated for 7 Academy Awards and when you watch it you can see why. In my opinion this film is even better than "What Ever Happened to Baby Jane?" Just the dialogue and snappy lines alone is worth watching this movie and having Bette, Olivia&Agnes deliver those lines is pure fun! Some of the lines that Bette says in the film: "Where you are I could spit in your eye...with no strain at all", "What do you think I asked you here for...company?!", and the best line of all (directed at Olivia deHavilland)- "You're a vile, sorry little [...]!" Wonderfully witty and campy dialogue that is a joy to watch and see. Agnes Moorehead has some great lines with her drawn out southern accent: "You know she broke that dadburn teapot up there...tea running all down the walls! Shooooweeee! "She nottin but a chil'" and my favorite (also directed at Olivia deHavilland) "Oh so your finally showin' the right side of you'face ain't ya...well I seen it all the time". If you can't find something to love about this film, then there is something wrong with you. They don't make classic suspense/horror films like this anymore.』
(Great Performances, Some Unintentional Humor and A Tad Bit Junky) 『Hush... Hush, Sweet Charlotte by Robert Aldrich has a some very tacky elements to it. The conspiracy from two "good" characters to "nobody" playing the piano in the wee hours of the morning compile with some, surprisingly, excellent acting and some funny scenes. The scene that really got me laughin' was the first murder. "OH NO MY BELOVED HAND! OH MY GOD!" throw in the incredibly fake severed hand and I do believe we have a comedy. Another thing that confused the hell outta me was the countless twists and turns that came. First Charlotte killed John, then her dad, then **SPOILERS** Jewel, Charlotte's rival. The film really catapulted off of What Ever Happened to Baby Jane?'s success, and HHSC portrays no comparison to WEHBJ, it was actually intended to be a follow up with Joan Crawford. The similarities between the two are uncanny, aging woman, going crazy, hostages, murder the list goes on. Performances in Hush... Hush are actually great. Bette Davis is great, as usual, Agnes Morrehead is brilliant as loyal servant, Velma, Olivia de Havilland is intriguing toward the end of the film. But, Joseph Cotten sort of drifts away from the rest of the cast but somehow finds his way back. Cinematography is simple and quite boring. Joseph Biroc provides no interesting shots what so ever. The plot and idea in general is quite cliche and unoriginal. Murder from many years ago, conspiracy against murderer, murderer is not who you think. Seen it before? I seriously think that you have.』
("Bette and Olivia Nearly Destroy Each Other In This!") 『It was announced in December, 1963 that the two stars of "Whatever Happened to Baby Jane?", Bette Davis and Joan Crawford, would be reunited for "Hush, Hush...Sweet Charlotte". After the huge financial and critical success of "Baby Jane", studios were fawning all over themselves for a vehicle the would bring these two movie goddesses back together. Before "Baby Jane" no one wanted Davis and Crawford in their movies, as the film studios felt they did not appeal to the box office. Once Joan and Bette's careers were reignited again, Hollywood was knocking down their doors. "Hush, Hush..." was suppose to star the two, but because of ill health and Davis' harsh treatment of her on the set, Joan fell ill and was hospitalized. What a terrible loss the studio had, as well as us fans, as we never saw Joan as Miriam in the final film. It would have been so neat to see Joan, as Miriam, beating the crap out of Bette as Charlotte, as the complete opposite happened in "Baby Jane", where Bette's character was the antagonist and abuser. Olivia DeHavilland does, however, give a remarkable performance in this film as Miriam. Olivia detetested doing bitch roles, but both Bette and director Robert Aldrich persuaded her to do the film. What makes her character so evil is the subtext in which she uses in her portrayal: we, as the audience, at the beginning of the picture, believe that Miriam is such a kind-hearted, soft spoken woman who's best interest is her cousin Charlotte's welfare: we soon discover none of this is true as Olivia portrays one of the most evil, psychotic women ever on film. The rest of the cast is first rate, from Agnes Moorehead, who plays Charlotte's maid Velma, to Joseph Cotten, who plays an unscrupulous doctor, out to destroy Charlotte. "Hush, Hush...Sweet Charlotte" is the best film in the "Baby Jane" genre. There were many 1960's films that tried to duplicate the success of "Baby Jane", like "Lady in a Cage", Straight-Jacket", and "Dead Ringer", but "Hush, Hush" comes a close second to being the sequel that it was suppose to be to the mother film. According to Bette Davis, she wasn't overly fond of the film, but fans of these hag-films, like me, love these vehicles: nothing like watching former movie queens, looking like hell, and tearing up the scenery! This film also received a whopping 7 Academy Award nominations, but winning none: at the time the film set a record for a horror film receiving the most Oscar nods. This record would be broken in 1991 by "The Silence of the Lambs". There is also another DVD release of "Hush, Hush" that is available, but if you already have the 2005 DVD release of the film I would suggest in passing on it. There is a neat documentary on the film, but it doesn't really offer anything that we ardent Bette and Joan fans don't already know. Contrary to public belief there are no Joan Crawford deleted scenes on the 2008 DVD release. Rumor has it 20th Century Fox destroyed the scenes that Joan did prior to leaving the film. In the second DVD there are still pictures of Joan in character as Miriam, but that is about it.』 『This is the tale of a wealthy southern spinster Charlotte Hollis (Bette Davis) who lives with her eccentric maid (Agnes Moorehead) in a decaying southern mansion, shunned by the townsfolk after the mysterious axe-murder of her late lover. When her jealous cousin (Olivia de Havilland) and her cousin's wily husband (Cotton) arrive for a visit, the two conspire to drive Charlotte insane and have her commited so the two can sell off her estate and pocket the proceeds.』 『Poor Charlotte Hollis. She's been shunned by the community for decades, ever since the fateful night in 1927 when her lover was hacked apart with an axe. Her antebellum southern mansion is slated for the bulldozer, as it stands in the way of highway construction. Charlotte's only hope lies in her cousin Miriam (Olivia de Havilland), coming down from up north to help settle things. Miriam, however, has other designs. Together with her boyfriend Drew (Joseph Cotten), she embarks on a scheme to systematically drive Charlotte out of her mind (not a great leap) and get her mitts on the family fortune. From there, things only get more complicated.Charlotteputs the "gothic" in southern gothic, as a great showcase for completely bizarre, overwrought, and out-of-control performances from all involved. Agnes Moorehead plays Charlotte's loyal, disheveled housekeeper to the hilt, with an odd inflection that calls to mind Amos and Andy more than southern gentility. As the drunken, conniving Dr. Drew, Cotten's accent is indeterminate at times, and seems to come and go. As great as the supporting players are, though, the crown goes to Bette Davis as the shrieking Charlotte, a portrait of isolation and decay stuck in a world of tragic delusions inside her crumbling mansion. De Havilland is a close second as the scheming Miriam; the scene where she slaps the holy snot out of a hysterical Charlotte is itself worth the price of admission. Mary Astor (in her last role) and Cecil Kellaway (as a kindly Lloyd's of London adjuster) put in the only performances with any restraint, acting as counterweights for the rest of the cast. Besides, you'll never get another chance to see Joseph Cotten playing the harpsichord and singing, or caked in mud and lily pads! With Robert Aldrich's claustrophobic direction,Charlotteis as Southern as a field of kudzu, and as subdued as a train wreck.--Jerry Renshaw』

Usually ships in 24 hours Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (does not age well) 『7.9 THE FILM ITSELF 6.9 VISUALS 7.5 SOUND 7.0 PACKAGING 8.4 EXTRAS
Remembering that Final destination came out in 2000, it's easy to see how old the film looks - especially on blu-ray. But even more so, the dialogue, the some what hammy / cheesy acting and just how young the cast is makes you understand you are not watching an Oscar award winning film.
Final Destination is an above average thriller / horror flick that deals with a young man who has visions of death. When he escapes the "death" that was imminent, the count down is on until death "catches up" to those who escaped. It's an interesting premise and it's handled decently. But after 9 years, it's certainly not the most engaging of stories, it sometimes doesn't really hold your attention and the characters feel cookie-cutter at best. But if you're looking for something different and slightly entertaining, you can do a lot worse than Final Destination.
VISUALS 6.9 There's no reason this should be bought on blu-ray. It looks okay at best, but for visual nuts they will certainly call this "horrible". From the bad haircuts that are really shown well here to the blotchy skin / makeup, some movies just should be left on DVD. Of course, being 9 years old doesn't help, but I've seen movies had 20 years ago that look stunning compared to this. It seems like no remastering has been done here at all.
SOUND 7.5 It's good, but nothing special. And after listening to the entire "isolated score" feature, I'm even more less impressed with this than I originally was. The rest of the sound - dialogue and explosions - are better, but still, nothing that makes you crank up the surround sound or anything.
PACKAGING 7.0 No main menu, the movie just starts with a menu bar that pops up on the bottom. The cover kind of resembles a cheesy teen-horror / action flick, and that's exactly what the film is.
EXTRAS 8.4 Two commentary tracks, one of which is really good (the one with the crew) while the other is average at best (the one with some of the cast members). There is a feature that is commentary by the composer as the entire score is presented over the dialogue. I never listened to one of these before, and this was not a good first selection for a film to do so on. The score just isn't that interesting here and the dialogue is "blah" at best.
"The Perfect Souffle: Testing Final Destination" is an inyteretsing feature I have never seen again. The creators talk about what a testing piece does for the film and what changes after it. Kind of interesting, but glad more films don't have this as it won't be watched by many fans.
"Premonitions" is an obnoxiously cheesy piece about a woman who believes she has the power to see when people are dead or in danger, and that she can see the future. Maybe if she didn't try to force her kids to believe it (that's how it seems anyway) it wouldn't be so bad, but this just seems like a family that will be in the news one day for joining a cult or something.
Then there are 3 deleted scenes that show a radically different ending. These are good because it shows just how far off the ending was, but they're bad because this ending is a horrible decision. So I'm glad they changed it and this is a very interesting original ending.
FINAL VERDICT Final Destination is a decent film that offers something new to a tired genre, but it certainly hasn't aged well in the 9 years since it was released. The special features are impressive, but aside from the crew commentary and the shocking alternate ending there isn't much substance here.
8.1/10 "IMPRESSIVE"』
(great horror that deserves the many positive ratings and reviews) 『The first Final Destination is actually a really good horror film. It's significantly better than the third Final Destination movie (that's the one with the carnival and roller-coaster ride segment, right? I like this one a LOT more).
The only flaw with this film is that the first 20 minutes start off rather predictable, but give the story some time to develop and I believe you'll find yourself really getting into it.
Maybe it's just me, but I found it kind of disrespectful that they'd keep playing John Denver's classic "Rocky Mountain High" throughout the film. The song plays whenever something bad is about to happen.
It's disrespectful because, as you probably know, John Denver lost his life in an airplane accident a few years before this movie was created and released. The writers should have honestly picked a different song.
Now about the storyline. Are you the kind of person that believes you can cheat death? If so, do you believe if you happen to cheat death that death will rear its head shortly after in ANOTHER attempt to take your life? These are the kind of serious and curious questions that many of us probably ask ourselves, and these same questions are the reason this kind of horror is a few steps above the generic slasher kind (and honestly, slasher flicks are the kind of horror stories have been done to the point of exhaustion by this point).
I often wonder about these questions personally, though obviously it's important not to let these questions interfere with enjoying your life. But it makes you wonder exactly what your destiny is and when it will happen, doesn't it?
Anyway, great horror suspense.』
(Extremely Underrated Sci-Fi Movie) 『Final Destination has an interesting concept. Death hunts people who overcame his plan for them. A script originally written for X-Files, it is intelligent, cerebral, and witty. It is not your average "kill-teens" flick. Each teen has their own personality and you can actually tell the difference between all of them. You sympathize with the teens and hope they don't die; instead of rooting for the killer (in this case Death itself). The teens have actual intelligence and are not idiots. The cliffhanger ending is truly excellent. Among the Final Destination series, this is the best. Final Destination 2 (second best) suffered (in my opinion) from a relatively happy, hopeful ending compared to this cliffhanger ending; the new life concept seemed too hopeful. The Final Destination (third best) was relatively good but suffered from "show everybody die and not leave mystery" syndrome. Final Destination 3 suffered from stupid characters who no one cares about syndrome.』
(Useless, dumb POS movie) 『As they are, horror movies are for the most part useless and have no cultural value at all unless you're some kind of sadist. Final Destinations 1, 2 and 3 aren't so much horror as they are safety films that show what happen if you don't put safety first. People are decapitated, suffocated, immolated, defenestrated, and the only lesson we learn from this movie is... they shouldn't make a sequel... but they did anyway, 2 of them! Then they're making this new dumb Final Destination movie, with the word "The" in front of it as though they are trying to have more respect for the English language somehow by making the title a complete sentence on its own.
Don't watch Final Destination. You'll only destroy your mind and your dignity.』
(No Cheating The Reaper) 『The "Final Destination" series started off with this low-key and middle-budget suspense film. Cast with a bunch of young actors in a twist on the old slasher formula, except this time, the mad killer is old Grimm himself. It makes this movie a minor classic, in that there's never anyone chasing these kids through the woods (so to speak). You don't need to set up a story about the killer that got killed by the angry mob or tormented by nasty classmates. Death doesn't need that kind of contraption, Death just is.
Of the actors, only Sean William Scott (aka "Stifler") and Heroes' Ari Larter have moved up from this series starter. Then one of the kids - Devon Sawa - has a premonition that gets him and six classmates plus one teacher booted from the flight. Said plane then explodes upon take-off. This team of cast-offs realize they've cheated death...or did they? Seems Death's Design isn't to crazy about being disrupted, and comes back for the stragglers. This is where "Final Destination" slips back into formula, and became more inventive in the way the teens get killed off. This does sort of make FD a precursor to the Saw series, in that the kills had to be elaborately set up and executed (har har).
Even with the beach-blanket-bingo of the FD plotline, the suspense is real. Who goes next and who beats the reaper? The concept was so successful that the Big D came back for two more sets of teens (Final Destination 2 and Final Destination 3) with a 4th in the works with little variance in the formula.』 『After an eerie premonition leads a handful of passengers to disembark an ill-fated flight, Death with all its ingenious contraptions of doom at the ready stalks those survivors (Devon Sawa, Ali Larter, Kerr Smith and more) one by one in the gory, gleeful shocker that launched the fright-filled film series. Final Destination: the start of it all!』 『While hardly a spiritual upgrade of the slasher film, this high-concept teen body-count thriller drops hints ofThe Sixth Senseinto the smart-aleck sensibility ofScream. Helmed byX-Filesveteran James Wong, who cowrote the screenplay with longtime creative partner Glen Morgan,Final Destinationis an often entertaining thriller marked by an unsettling sense of unease and scenes of eerie imagery. It suffers, however, from a schizophrenic tone and a frankly ludicrous premise. A high school Cassandra, Alex Browning (Devon Sawa ofIdle Hands), wakes from a preflight nightmare and panics when he's convinced the plane is doomed. His ruckus bumps seven passengers from the Paris-bound plane, which immediately explodes into a fireball on takeoff, but fate hasn't finished with these lucky few and, one by one, death claims them. Wong brings such a funereal tone to these early scenes of survivor's guilt and inevitable doom that the already far-fetched film threatens to veer into unplanned absurdity. Thankfully, the tale loosens up with a playful morgue humor: one of the victims winds up the splattered punch line to a grim joke and elaborate Rube Goldbergesque chains of cause and effect become inspired spectacles of destruction.Final Destinationis a pretty silly thriller when it takes itself seriously, and the filmmakers play fast and loose with their own rules of fate, but once they stick their tongues firmly in cheek, the film takes off with a screwy interpretation of the domino effect of doom.--Sean Axmaker』

(Still a classic.) 『I watched this film for the first time when I was 8 years old and that was in 1979. It was playing in a holiday resort cinema at the time. A real run of the mill movie by the time I seen it, so even though I was so young and on my own, it was ok to go in and watch it. I ran out of the cinema and back to our apartment when I seen the head scene. I had nightmares for weeks afterwards. Since then I've seen this classic countless times and I enjoy it every time. There's just something about the atmosphere in the film that I find infectious. The casting is the most natural I've seen. Each of the main characters is so believable, different and interesting in their own way. A tired middle aged cop from New York, a young rich scientist in love with his work, and an old weather beaten shark fisherman with scars to remember most of his encounters. I've yet to see interaction like this between 3 actors. The love\hate atmosphere on the boat is just gripping. I bought the DVD version for my kids. I'd rather the original because in the DVD version in the scene before they sing; `Show me the way to go home', the whale sound effect is smudged out and replaced with a more 90's politically correct whale sound. I thought the original effect added much more to the atmosphere of the film. But it is cool to see it digitally touched up. And what about the Score? Is there a more memorable score for a movie? Space Odyssey 2001 springs to mind but even that masterpiece borrows from the classical world. That music was not written for that film. I loved the book too, but I have to say the movie is better. I know it's strange but it's true. I love movies but I've yet to get the same level of enjoyment from a movie as I did from Jaws. And that includes E.T., Close Encounters, Star Wars and so on. Jaws is a marvel. I'm glad I was so young when I first seen it because it probably wouldn't have had the affect on me that it had had I watched it at an older age. Ok in hindsight and if you like nitpicking you can find a few things wrong with this film. Like the missing chair after the scene were they caught something with the fishing rod, or it wasn't really summer when the filmed it. Big deal! Movies like this are about imagination aren't they? These inconsistencies had to be pointed out to me before I could see them for myself. In my opinion a good movie with no directing or editing errors is not what makes it good movie. Jaws is King and very underrated in my opinion.』
(JAWS bites... in a good way) 『i thought this movie was A+ when i saw it i sure wasnt scared of the water but i'll tell you waht, i was scared of sharks. once again the master george lucas brings us A+ effects, i wish i could give it 6 stars instead of 5 but thats how life is i guess.』 『Spielberg pits three mena against a great white shark that has been attacking swimmers at an island resort in new england. The film redefined the word blockbuster and john williams score still haunts swimmers around the world. Studio: Uni Dist Corp. (mca) Release Date: 05/23/2006 Starring: Roy Scheider Richard Dreyfuss Run time: 125 minutes Rating: Pg Director: Steven Spielberg』 『In the vastly overrated 1998 bookEasy Riders, Raging Bulls, author Peter Biskind puts the blame for Hollywood's blockbuster mentality at least partially on Steven Spielberg's box-office success with this adaptation of Peter Benchley's bestselling novel. But you can't blame Spielberg for making a terrific movie, whichJawsdefinitely is. The story of a Long Island town whose summer tourist business is suddenly threatened by great-white-shark attacks on humans bypasses the potboiler trappings of Benchley's book and goes straight for the jugular with beautifully crafted, crowd-pleasing sequences of action and suspense supported by a trio of terrific performances by Roy Scheider (as the local sheriff), Richard Dreyfuss (as a shark specialist), and particularly Robert Shaw (as the old fisherman who offers to hunt the shark down). The sequences on Shaw's boat--as the three of them realize that in fact the shark is huntingthem--are what entertaining moviemaking is all about.--Marshall Fine』
