(forgiveness or revenge? Make your choice...)
『Don't worry, my opinion for part two is coming soon. The weird part for me about this series is I don't like movies with torture-but this one has a demented cleverness to it that I didn't expect. The traps are sadistic but clever, the music is creepy, and Jigsaw's game in this one is something I admire-testing someone's capacity for forgiveness over revenge is a very interesting concept. When criminals go free it does make me angry, but hatred and revenge can have serious consequences, as this chapter demonstrates in gruesome detail. Kudos to Charles Clouser for the music score-I'm not sure even Jerry Goldsmith could've made a score this creepy. Special mention must be made to Tobin Bell as Jigsaw-what he does with his voice, making it raspy to the sound of a whisper was eerily effective,he gives me chills just hearing him talk, and his voice on his tapes are the same way. I'm not gonna lie though, a couple scenes/traps in this one did make me cringe, I look forward to part 5 though.』

(One of the Best Saw Movies)
『Saw III picks up right where II left off and then forwards goes six months ahead, a new victim is discovered is an inescapable trap. Usually "patients" of John "Jigsaw" Kramer can escape the games; this time the trap is unusual which brings questions about the inventor of this trap. Saw III is basically a large and complicated game much like the first movie. Jigsaw is dying and Amanda brings in Doctor Lynn Denlon who has to keep him alive for the game's length in order to succeed her game. Meanwhile her husband Jeff is the one playing the "real" game which will decide of everyone's fate. This one is also Amanda's big test even if she doesn't know it. The fact that Saw III is so complex, logical and that it makes sense at the same is quite an accomplishment for a horror movie as they rather ignore connectivity from a movie to another, Saw does not. It's obvious that with this third movie they tried to end the trilogy while knowing that there might be a next movie, they could have ended Saw right there if they wanted to. It is the most profitable Saw movie to date having earned an estimated total of $164,874,275 worldwide.

I feel this is one of the better Saw movies, first of all it has a great story and its complicated which I think is what fans will love about it. Secondly why someone may or may not like it is because it's the goriest of the Saw movies in my opinion, the traps are amazing I felt they put in some extra effort for those.

(A nice end to the trilogy...)
『This should have in my opinion been the final movie. It was a trilogy and you don't want to bleed the franchise dry. Unfortunately money came into effect and there are now 6 Saw movies. The movie follows a man's path of revenge against those that hurt his son. He decides for the victims whether to let them die or help them survive. It is really connected to Saw IV so watch them back to back. Also it revolves a lot around Jigsaw's assistant. Without ruining the plot points I won't give away who that is. Also a doctor was chosen to help save Jigsaw. There are a lot of connections to Saw I and II, which help the movie. There is a lot of great character development that was a bit lacking in Saw II. The ending is awesome, perhaps the best in the series. It really ties all the characters together and leaves you breathless.』

(Worst)
『How Could Anybody like this Movie.
It is the Worst Movie ever made.
Nuff Said』

(Average overall)
『I don't care how gory this film is, it still does not come close to the bloodbath at the end of Scorsese's Casino with the baseball bat thuds one of the all time squirm sounds. Simple but true, fact is always worse than fiction.』
『Jigsaw has disappeared. With his new apprentice Amanda (Shawnee Smith), the puppet-master behind the cruel, intricate games that have terrified a community and baffled police has once again eluded capture and vanished. While city detectives scramble to locate him, Doctor Lynn Denlon (Bahar Soomekh) and Jeff (Angus Macfadyen) are unaware that they are about to become the latest pawns on his vicious chessboard』
『The firstSawpicture actually had an idea behind it, to say nothing of the ingenuity of its low-budget production; making a silk purse out of a bloody, maggot-ridden human ear, as it were. WithSaw III, the franchise pretty much settles into gore for gore's sake, as it explores newer and better ways to traumatize the body--and the audience. Events fromSaw IIare sewn up at the beginning of the film, and a detective on the trail of mad killer Jigsaw is quickly trussed up and subjected to one of the villain's sadistic games (this one has escape possible only by means of a key sitting in the bottom of a beaker of acid). Then we catch up with Jigsaw (Tobin Bell) himself, as he awaits death from his debilitating illness; once again he's tended by helper Shawnee Smith. The movie follows parallel plots: Jigsaw blackmails a doctor (Bahar Soomekh) into keeping him alive, and tortures a vengeful soul (Angus Macfayden) into recognizing the futility of revenge. OriginalSawcreators James Wan and Leigh Whannell worked on the script of this one, and it fully buys into the series mythology, referring backwards to previous events and, for all we know, preparing us for future installments. But if future installments are as pointlessly repugnant as this one, there's not much to look forward to.--Robert Horton

(A Fun Series)
『I missed this series when it first aired, but I'm glad I picked up the DVD.

While never up to the level of the Buffy series, Angel is quite entertaining and has a lot of little funny bits. The pilot episode for example has one part where he runs out to his car, jumps in dramatically, tries the key...and nothing. Then he looks over and sees he jumped into the wrong (identical) car; his car is parked a few spaces over.

There is also a great episode involving a bachelor party that should not be missed. How many shows have somebody admonished for bringing a shrimp fork to devour a human brain? The whole episode is very tongue in cheek.

I don't want to give any spoilers, but there is a rather significant change around the middle of the season that I appreciated. You'll see a number of cross-over guests from Buffy to start out the show. At over twenty episodes, the season should keep you satisfied for a while.』

(Angel rocks)
『I love this show not as much as buffy but its still amazing, i just wish doyle would have stuck around for other seasons.』

(Very Pleased)
『I bought this for my mom. She is a big fan and this was the perfect gift. We have encountered no problems with the discs so far. The package is what it says, slim, so it is not bulky. There are two disks to each case, 6 disks all together. The episodes are explained on the back of each case so you can easily find a particular episode.』

(Great gift for an "Angel" fan)
『I ordered this as a gift for someone who didn't see "Angel" when it was originally on, but started catching syndicated episodes earlier this year. She appreciates being able to see the beginning of the show, in order, as it's making the characters more in-depth to her now.』

(BEST SERIES TO BE ON TV (my opinion) BLADE FANS WILL LOVE ANGEL)
『Usually I've noticed that the girls tend to like Buffy and the guys Angel (because Buffy's more emotional and about feelings and Angel's more shoot first, ask questions later, action, etc.), but I actually like Angel more then the Buffy series. Angel is also a lot darker of a series and more of an "adult" type show where as Buffy is more of a high school teen type of show (I'm not knocking Buffy. It's my second favorite series, but I'm just trying to give a good review on the type of audience that'll like the show). If you're watching it for the Buffy/Angel story you'll be disappointed. They play into it in season 1 for a little while and then it's pretty much over and he moves on (though because she's his first love he still loves her, she just takes a back seat and he becomes more focused on his own mission). Angel is really a different show from Buffy completely so a lot of the people that like Buffy might not like Angel and vice versa, but I suggest stopping it at season 3 or 4 (in season 4 they ruin one of the main characters and in season 5 they ruin everyone else's character and basically make the show into a totally different show), but season 1 is slow to start, but good once it starts, season 2 and 3 are AMAZING (the best television show writing I've ever seen), season 4 it like the final book or movie of a saga (where everything comes together), but it's the darkest season of the seasons and a lot of people felt it was drawn out (I personally liked it, but some things I thought were just plain disgusting and they NEVER should have done, but I felt other parts made up for the horrible, disgusting parts) and brought the show to an end, and the 5th season was when they just didn't realize the series show have ended (I mean seriously, don't both. If you don't like season 4's ending season 5 is way worst. It's like the chicken with it's head cut off that keeps going anyway. Season 5 doesn't answer any of the questions Joss leaves in season 7 of Buffy or season 4 of Angel. It's seriously just a waste of time.

I know it may seem like the series isn't worth it because they start loosing it towards the end, but trust me seasons 1-3 are AMAZING. If you're a fan of Blade you'd like this series.』

『HIS TIME HAS COME . . . Now you can own the entire first season of ANGEL. All 22 classic episodes are available for the first time in this exclusive 6-disc collectorÂ's edition. From Â"City of,Â" Â"In the DarkÂ" and Â"I Will Remember YouÂ" to Â"Hero,Â" Â"SanctuaryÂ" and Â"To Shanshu in L.A.,Â" these Season One episodes are a must for every Angel and Buffy fan.』
『He's hunky, he's brooding, he's a do-gooder, and he was Buffy's first boyfriend. Angel, the tortured vampire destined to walk the earth with a soul, got his own series after three seasons onBuffy the Vampire Slayerand did what any new star might do: he moved to L.A. (the City of Angels--get it?) and set up shop.Angel(co-created byBuffymastermind Joss Whedon) finds the titular vampire (David Boreanaz) as a kind of supernatural private investigator, fighting evil one case at a time and, like his ex-girlfriend, keeping the world from getting destroyed by vengeful demons and such.

A darker, more film noir version ofBuffy,Angellacked the peppy humor that permeated Sunnydale but more than made up for it in its soul-wrenching gravitas, and it elevated Boreanaz to leading-man status, a role he filled out ably and then some. Initially, the stoic vampire was paired with Irish demon Doyle (the late Glenn Quinn) and fellow Sunnydale transplant Cordelia (Charisma Carpenter), butAngelfinally found its footing when Doyle was dispatched (giving his powers of precognition to Cordelia) and replaced byBuffyalum Wesley (Alexis Denisof), a fallen watcher who, like his friends, was hoping for a new start in L.A. However, pesky law firm Wolfram and Hart (a front for the demon mafia, as it were) reared its ugly head and discovered Angel's presence, thus setting the stage for a battle of good and evil--and if you're a regular Joss Whedon fan, you know that it's a never-ending war.

This first season features guest appearances by variousBuffycharacters, including werewolf boy Oz (Seth Green), rogue slayer Faith (Eliza Dushku), deliciously evil vamp Darla (Julie Benz), and Buffy herself (Sarah Michelle Gellar), all of whom helped get the show off and running in style.--Mark Englehart

(Watered down Lambs)
『I guess this is a prequel to "Silence of the Lambs," or is it a sequel? No matter. It's nowhere near as scary as the original, but it does have some tension sufficient to hold your interest. Ed Norton, somewhat light in his loafers, plays Jodi Foster in this, while Hannibal Lechter is, as usual, Anthony Hopkins. The main villain is no Hannibal Lechter, but he has his moments. You've seen the ending several times before. Trust me. Watch if you are a Lambs fan. Just don't expect any great miracles.』

『I bought this for someone else who really wanted this he ia happy it came just when I wanted it too thanks』

(Clever and outstanding.)
『The movie is mysterious more like silence of the lambs than Hannibal it stars Edward Norton(The incredible Hulk)and Anthony Hopkins(The wolfman) in the mystery of the serial killer "The Tooth Fairy" it has alot of action and gore the end is vissualy cool the main fail is that Hannibal never escapes well that is the novel's problem not the movie's but movies that are based on novels have Screenplays even though it is not a bad movie for that.If you have the oportunity to see it see it.

(red dragon)
『I wasted money on this movie. It is formatted in HD DVD and won't play on anything but an HD DVD player. The format is now obsolete so I guess I'll have to re-order in regular DVD format.』
『FBI AGENT WILL GRAHAM HAS BEEN CALLED OUT OF EARLY RETIREMENT TOCATCH A SERIAL KILLER, KNOWN BY AUTHORITIES AS THE TOOTHFAIRY. HE ASKS FOR THE HELP OF HIS ARCH-NEMESIS, DR. HANNIBAL THE CANNIBAL LECTER.THE ONLY PROBLEM IS THAT THE TOOTH FAIRYIS GETTING INSIDE INFORMATION FROM LECTOR』
『A lot could've gone wrong inRed Dragon, but the movie exceeds expectations. Replacing the acclaimedManhunteras an "official" entry in the Hannibal Lecter trilogy, this topnotch thriller--the second adaptation of Thomas Harris's first Lecter novel--returns to the fertile soil ofThe Silence of the Lambs, serving as both prequel and heir to the legacy of Lecter as portrayed, with mischievous menace, by the great Anthony Hopkins. Familiar faces and locations reappear (along withLambsscreenwriter Ted Tally) as Lecter coaches FBI profiler Will Graham (Edward Norton) in tracking the horrific "Tooth Fairy" killer (Ralph Fiennes), whose transformative killing spree is inspired by a William Blake painting. By dutifully serving Harris's potent material, Tally and director Brett Ratner craft a suspenseful film worthy of its predecessors, bringing Hopkins full circle as one of the cinema's all-time greatest villains. With overtones ofPsychoand a superb supporting cast,Red Dragonsucceeds against considerable odds.--Jeff Shannon

(This is as good as any snatcher movie.)
『The formula is the classic; someone is being "alienated." Naturally someone wants to put a "bug" in your ear as to which the person(s) is/are. Time is running out to find out what the problem is and how to correct it. As always the first to go is the authorities.

All right you have seen it a million times and even the characters in the movie refer to "Invasion of the Body Snatchers" (1956) [see my review] and "The Puppet Masters" (1994). However it is not the plot but the carrying out of the plot or action that makes the movie. I was amazed to find this movie so professionally portrayed in the era of ersatz teenybopper knockoffs like "Sleepy Hollow"

The characters were well chosen to portray the different Faculty and student types.

Where have we seen Coach Willis (Robert Patrick) before? Can you say "Terminator Two"?

Laura Harris is from Canada and this is Ohio so what doses that make her? (An Al...)

You can not beat the descriptive names given to the characters.

The movie is just down right fun and has a lot of "Don't do that" scenes makes you want to kibitz.

(entertaining)
『Great movie. Good actors helped make this movie and sometime the comedy shots were a great add to the movie.

(A Scary Fun Body Snatcher flick.)
『I have this movie on vhs tape. I just watched half of this movie on tv. I was interested to see how others rated this movie. I don't know any of the actors names right off hand, but there are some very good actors in the movie. The football coach character was in Terminator two and also in the X Files. He was an excellent character in the flick. John Stewart was also quite good in his role as a teacher. The actress who played "Lilith" or Frasier Crane's wife on Cheers was quite good. And how could she not be great. She is extremely SEXY. I think she's a powder keg. The spanish actress who was also a teacher, was good in the flick.

The cast of young stars did pretty well as high school students. However, I didn't think the girl who played the alien "Queen" brought much to the movie at all. The idea of killing the aliens with some "skat" is fairly lame, but I guess it could work. What was that substance anyway, cocaine? Not much really happens in this flick. The best action occurs in the school itself.

The movie is a BLATANT ripoff of Invasion of the Body Snatchers. If this bothers you then you will probably give the movie a low grade. Personally I didn't even think about the Body Snatchers when I saw this flick. Only later did I realize how this movie really did just rehash that same plot.

The movie is pretty good I feel. I'm giving it three stars because it borrowed so much from Invasion of the Body Snatchers. I must say though that these aliens stole bodies in an entirely fresh manner. It's not like they used pods and all.

『This hip and edgy thriller from the director of FROM DUSK TILL DAWN and the writer of SCREAM and SCREAM 2 sizzles with a hot young cast including Elijah Wood (THE LORD OF THE RINGS Trilogy), Josh Hartnett (PEARL HARBOR), and R&B superstar Usher Raymond! When some very creepy things start happening around school, the kids at Herrington High make a chilling discovery that confirms their worst suspicions: their teachers really are from another planet! As mind-controlling parasites rapidly begin spreading from the faculty to the students' bodies, it's ultimately up to the few who are left -- an unlikely collection of loners, leaders, nerds, and jocks -- to save the world from alien domination! Also starring Robert Patrick (TERMINATOR 2), Famke Janssen (X-MEN), and Jon Stewart (TV's THE DAILY SHOW) in a great cast -- don't miss the unstoppable excitement of this unpredictably smart and scary hit!』
『Okay, you knew everyone in high school was just a little different: everyone looked at you strangely, the teachers were freaky, and you never could find the right groove to fit into. What if it turned out that it was all because your school was inhabited by creepy aliens from outer space? That's the enjoyably cheesy B-premise for this fun and scary flick from the pen ofScream's Kevin Williamson, the master of the post-modern teen horror film. Directed by Robert Rodriguez (El Mariachi), it'sThe Breakfast ClubmeetsInvasion of the Body Snatchers, as six disparate students from Herrington High School band together when they discover that an alien life form is invading both the student and faculty bodies, with plans to take over the world.

Each of the heroes represents a different high school type: popular babe (Jordana Brewster), picked-on geek (Elijah Wood), goth girl (Clea DuVall), sensitive jock (Shawn Hatosy), new kid in town (Laura Harris), and bad-boy rebel (Josh Hartnett). The plot isn't much--a basic kill-or-be-killed premise spiked with a healthy shot of paranoia--but Willliamson and Rodriguez do a great job of building the tension slowly but surely. The suspense set pieces are genuinely frightening, and the film pokes fun at itself without deflating its scares; Williamson is a master at shifting gears from comedy to horror quickly and adroitly. The young cast doesn't have a weak link among them (with special kudos to Wood, DuVall and heartthrob-in-the-making Hartnett), and Rodriguez gets maximum mileage from the titular faculty, which includes Jon Stewart, Piper Laurie, Salma Hayek, Bebe Neuwirth, and Robert Patrick ofTerminator 2. Go to the head of the class, Mr. Williamson.--Mark Englehart

(Halloween)
『On Halloween 1963, Haddenfield, 10-year-old Michael Myers, estranged and mentally unstable, is imprisoned in Smith's Grove Sanitarium under the care of Dr. Sam Loomis for the murders of his mother's boyfriend, his older sister, and her boyfriend. Now, 16 years later, he escapes and now in search of his baby sister Laurie and Dr. Loomis must warn the residents of Haddenfield and get to Laurie before Michael does. This movie does make for a very admirable companion piece to a horror classic, blending the old and the new into an entertaining and thought-provoking fright movie.

(The Blackest Eyes......The Devil's Eyes................)
『Horror films tend to succeed on one of two levels: by appealing to the imagination, or by assaulting the emotions(or in some cases the senses). I don't know that any movie has ever managed to achieve as much, on both levels simultaneously, as Halloween. The movie is beautiful and stylistic,on the one hand, yet primal and suspenseful on the other.

There are just so many things in this film that work. So many things that are just 'right', for lack of a better word. Take Michael Myers himself, for example. He is the ultimate slasher villain. You can conceive him as an insane freak of nature, or the very embodiment of Death itself. He can be this macabre phantom one minute.............and a brutish animal the next. Despite his size, he can appear out of nowhere, get from place to place without being seen, be right in the room with you but go unnoticed. Yet alongside of this ethereal quality there exists a savagery, vividly demonstrated when he impaled that strapping young man to the wall, or when he sated his hunger by devouring a local dog.

I have heard people refer to Michael Myers as an 'efficient' killer. Usually producers and other business oriented people who are utterly clueless about such matters. Of course, Myers CAN be efficient when he so chooses. But it is hardly his typical mode of operation. Myers is a gamesman, a prankster........the ultimate sportsman.

Again and again, he offers opportunities to his prospective victims to salvage their lives. The most glaring example is when Annie gets trapped in the laundry room. At one point, she even gets stuck halfway in and out of the window. There could be no more convenient juncture for an 'efficient killer' to do his thing. But what does Myers do? He eschews this golden opportunity. Far, far too easy.

Even when he's lurking in the back seat of the car, he goes so far as to give her one, final chance. One last, brazen hint, which she DOES eventually get..........but she gets it about 3 seconds too late.

Linda and her boyfriend get similar clues. Laurie not only gets hints as to what is happening, but once the attack is under way, he even gives her what amounts to a couple of TIME-OUTS!!

An efficient killer does not operate this way. But a hunter, if he is a true sportsman, does. And this is what makes Myers the ideal slasher killer. He may offer you several chances to save your life.......but you cannot count on this. He is the ghoulish personification of Death, and the unrivalled alpha male among slasher villains.

Myers is the most obvious factor. But Dr.Loomis is essential, as well. Strong, determined, and obsessive, he is the virtuous flipside to the hunter he is, himself, hunting. You get the feeling that Loomis feels just about as at home in those shadows as Myers himself. Laurie Strode is a terrific 'final girl.' Awkward, shy, and good-natured, but resilient and courageous, as well.

There are so many 'little' factors that serve to enhance the atmosphere of this film. The sound of children's voices chanting that creepy nursery rhyme. The muffled sound of Myer's animalistic breathing through his cadaverous mask. The mystique of Dr. Loomis......what exactly did he see during those 15 years in the sanitarium that aroused THIS level of obsession? The occasional glimpse of cascading leaves, or a solitary jack o'lantern, to offer us subtle reminders of the season. The ghastly shadows on the front of the Myers' house. The sight of the escaped lunatics, in their white hospital gowns, roaming aimlessly on the horizon. The way Myers tilts his head, like a curious animal, when he is gazing at the victim he had impaled to the wall with that huge butcher knife.......

Yet, for all that, it would not be the same film if not for the pace. The pace of Halloween feels virtually like real-time. Once you get to Halloween morning, the action is timed in such a way that it feels like you are watching an actual day unfold. The downside is that the film feels a bit slow in the middle. It didn't really bother me, but I have heard some people complain about this. The upside, of course, is that, once you buy into the timing, everything feels so authentic, so absolutely real.

I have never seen a more suspenseful film than Halloween. The final twenty minutes or so, it is like you are literally watching a young girl fighting for her life. For pure suspense, that closet scene may be the greatest moment in slasher film history. It is one of the most suspenseful, nervewracking scenes you will ever encounter in ANY film, from ANY genre.

But compare that to another sequence in the movie, that took place a few minutes before. I refer to the part where Laurie Strode goes over to check on her friends. That's basically all there is to it-a girl crossing a street, going from one house to another. But, in its own way, this scene is nearly as brilliant as the closet segment. A brief, simple walk, across a lonely street, to see if her friends are okay. You don't see any killers, or dead bodies, or violence of any kind. Just the occasional falling leaves, or the gentle autumnal winds caressing her hair. Just a girl crossing a street.

But Carpenter imbues that one scene with more dread, more anticipation, more mystery, more subdued horror, than most directors are able to attain over the course of entire films.

So often, genius lies not in what you do, but in HOW you do it.

Michael Myers, Dr. Loomis, and Laurie Strode are the participants in a deadly 'triangular hunt', of sorts. All of it takes place in a typical American neighborhood, against the backdrop of an idyllic Halloween night......and there is simply nothing else like it.』

(Awesome!!!)
『It's my favorite horror movie and now I watch it on bluray it's freaking awesome and I love it even more.』

(The BEST horror movie, ever!)
『When I bought my blu ray player, I couldn't get this movie fast enough. This is hands down my favorite horror move. What makes this so fantastic is that is has very little blood, and a ton of suspense. My favorite parts is when a character is doing something, then the camera pans, then you see that Michael is there....lurking in the shadows. Fantastic!

For those of you who don't know, this is about a boy that was institualized for killing his older sister on Halloween night. The one day, he escapes and heads back home to continue the killing. He picks one teen ( I wont' say why) and goes after her. If anyone gets in his way, then that's their problem. Along the way, his doctor, Dr. Loomis heads back to Michael's hometown in order to stop him. That's all I really want to say on the plot.

This is such a fantastic movie! It was a lot of suspense that will keep you glued to your seat. I can't say enough good things about Halloween.

The transfer to blu ray is wonderful! The sound is crisp and clear. The images are vivid and sharp. This is the way Halloween was meant to be seen. This has a fantastic extra. It's called "Fast Facts". If you set the setting's for the "Fast Facts" you get to see little facts about the movie (about the stars, production ect) that add a wonder aspect to a great movie.

This is a classic and a must have.』

(Disappointed)
『I like the Halloween story line. Jamie Lee Curtis is good. However, I was disappointed that it shows nudity. One of the girls boobs are showing several times. Why Hollywood thinks they have to put nudity in all the time is beyond me. I think it ruins the film. Otherwise, it's a great horror flick. Love the theme song. It is so fitting.』
『Fifteen years ago, Michael Myers brutally murdered his sister. Now, after escaping from a mental hospital, he's back to relive his grisly crime again, and again...and again. This is Halloween like you've never seen or heard it before! Halloween has been fully restored under the supervision of Lucasfilm's THX digital mastering Services. The DVD was transferred by the award-winning colorist Adam Adams (Terminator 2, Titanic) from a new 35mm interpositive (made from the original camera negative) and approved by the film's cinematographer Dean Cundey (Jurassic Park, Who Framed Roger Rabbit). The new Dolby Digital 5.1 soundtrack was created by Chace Productions in association with Alan Howarth using the original 16-track music studio master and the recently discovered original 35mm magnetic dialogue and effects tracks.』
Halloweenis as pure and undiluted as its title. In the small town of Haddonfield, Illinois, a teenage baby sitter tries to survive a Halloween night of relentless terror, during which a knife-wielding maniac goes after the town's hormonally charged youths. Director John Carpenter takes this simple situation and orchestrates a superbly mounted symphony of horrors. It's a movie much scarier for its dark spaces and ominous camera movements than for its explicit bloodletting (which is actually minimal). Composed by Carpenter himself, the movie's freaky music sets the tone; and his script (cowritten with Debra Hill) is laced with references to other horror pictures, especiallyPsycho. The baby sitter is played by Jamie Lee Curtis, the real-life daughter ofPsychovictim Janet Leigh; and the obsessed policeman played by Donald Pleasence is named Sam Loomis, after John Gavin's character inPsycho. In the end, though,Halloweenstands on its own as an uncannily frightening experience--it's one of those movies that had audiences literally jumping out of their seats and shouting at the screen. ("No! Don't drop that knife!") Produced on a low budget, the picture turned a monster profit, and spawned many sequels, none of which approached the 1978 original. Curtis returned for two more installments: 1981's dismalHalloween II, which picked up the story the day after the unfortunate events, and 1998's occasionally grippingHalloween H20, which proved the former baby sitter was still haunted after 20 years.--Robert Horton

(This Movie Has It All)
『Even after seeing "The Shining" twenty or more times, it is the most terrifying movie I have ever seen. The heightened level of suspense keeps me on the edge of my seat, and then has me screaming out loud or burying my head in the pillows. This movie really does have it all - the scene in the labyrinth is thrilling, the twins scare the bejeezus out of me every time, the "here's Johnny" makes me laugh... Yes, I do enjoy a good thrill ride, and The Shining may be the best one I've found!』

(The Shining)
『The Shining has not withstood the test of time; technically this film is skillfully done, the atmosphere is realistic but not altogether successful, there is an empty argument about the child that is not resolved, and that ruins the movie is undoubtedly Jack Nicholson, a good actor, not very versatile but here's terribly overacted and mocker, who with his clown face is not convincing in his transformation, too bad that Stanley Kubrick did not moderate this . Long ago I saw and I do not impress, I've seen and now I am disappointed more but never was and never will be a horror classic.

(The Shining (Two-Disc Special Edition))
『Obviously a great movie, nice extra features added plus the making of the shining from the previous dvd is on here. the old dvd's audio was in mono. this dvd has 5.1 audio and it sounds very good

(The Shining)
『Frustrated writer Jack Torrance takes a job as the winter caretaker at the ominous, mountain-locked Overlook Hotel so that he can write in peace. When he arrives there with his wife and son, they learn that the previous caretaker had gone mad. Slowly Jack becomes possessed by the evil, demonic presence in the hotel. The Shining is a perfect example of how a horror movie should be made. It moves along at an even pace&takes you into the hotel of horror where the dead still live. This movie is chilling to the bone.

(a disappointment)
『let's be honest.
jack nicholson's portrayal here is so completely over the top as to be comedic. not a good thing for what purports to be a horror film.
it's a shame, because the cinematography is good, as is the supporting cast.
poor stephen king has not been served well by the cinematic treatment of his films.
the only one worth a damn is "the dead zone."
and, no, i'm not talking about the putrid television remake, but the original one starring christopher walken, an actor who is unrivaled when he's taking his acting and the project seriously.

『Like New!! Excellent Condition!! Part of Onwers Extensive DVD Collection!!』
『Stanley Kubrick'sThe Shiningis less an adaptation of Stephen King's bestselling horror novel than a complete reimagining of it from the inside out. In King's book, the Overlook Hotel is a haunted place that takes possession of its off-season caretaker and provokes him to murderous rage against his wife and young son. Kubrick's movie is an existential Road Runner cartoon (his steadicam scurrying through the hotel's labyrinthine hallways), in which the cavernously empty spaces inside the Overlook mirror the emptiness in the soul of the blocked writer, who's settled in for a long winter's hibernation. As many have pointed out, King's protagonist goes mad, but Kubrick's Jack Torrance (Jack Nicholson) is Looney Tunes from the moment we meet him--all arching eyebrows and mischievous grin. (Both Nicholson and Shelley Duvall reach new levels of hysteria in their performances, driven to extremes by the director's fanatical demands for take after take after take.)The Shiningis terrifying--but not in the way fans of the novel might expect. When it was redone as a TV miniseries (reportedly because of King's dissatisfaction with the Kubrick film), the famous topiary-animal attack (which was deemed impossible to film in 1980) was there--but the deeper horror was lost. Kubrick'sThe Shininggets under your skin and chills your bones; it stays with you, inhabits you, haunts you. And there's no place to hide...--Jim Emerson

(movie; The Final Countdown)
『Looks back at what happened at Pearl Harbor through the eyes of a carrier captain and his crew as the result of being pulled through a time warp. The time-machine tunnel effect takes them from their present day position back to 1941 in time to witness the attack. Good historical information.』

『thanks, it came quickly and in good condition, at a good price. What more does a customer want?』

(Final Countdown Just Plain BAD, F-14 Tomcats Just Plain GOOD)
『Only see this movie for the Tomcat footage, not the acting or story. Kirk Douglas, Sheen, Katharine Ross, and Durning have nothing to work with (and all the acting is strained and awkward in this film, making you wonder why they ever took up this project in the first place) and the attitudes and jokes at the end are completely irreverent. Would the captain and crew really be cracking jokes after having to weigh such a huge decision on whether or not to prevent the deaths of thousands at Pearl Harbor and thus changing history? (Which also makes the ending a foregone conclusion.) No exploration of the time warp or black hole or vortex or whatever it was that sucked them back to 1941 is given (limiting the whole sci-fi aspect of this movie), and really most of the movie is spent watching the crew wandering around confused wondering things like "what's going on around here?" Frustrating and slow as molasses, the worst part of it is that the makers of this film had the opportunity to make it about a tribute to our servicemen and women and Pearl Harbor, but instead decided to skip that completely and turn it into something else. Possibly a tribute to the F-14 and the Navy? Maybe, but that still barely makes the film watchable as a whole, and the inexplicable comic attitudes at the end of the film actually work to diminish the history of Pearl Harbor and WWII, which is where the real failure of the movie lies, also because perhaps the makers of this film did not intend for that to happen. If you want to see the amazing F-14 Tomcat in action, USS Nimitz, and Arizona memorial footage, this movie works to showcase that, which is all this movie really has going for it. It is also interesting to note that the DVD commentary by the director of photography yields some very interesting information about their experience with the Navy and what an amazing and life-changing experience it was for them to be on the Nimitz for 8 days of filming.』
『"...THIS IS THE U.S.S. NIMITZ... WHERE THE HELL ARE WE?..."

The time is now. The place is aboard the U.S.S. Nimitz, America's mightiest nuclear-powered aircraft carrier on maneuvers in the Pacific Ocean. Suddenly, a freak electrical storm engulfs the ship and triggers the impossible: The Nimitz is hurtled back in time to December 6, 1941, mere hours before the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor. As the enemy fleet speeds towards Hawaii, the warship's Captain (Kirk Douglas), a Defense Department expert (Martin Sheen), a maverick Air Wing Commander (James Farentino) and a desperate Senator in the Roosevelt administration (Charles Durning) must choose between the unthinkable. Do they allow the Japanese to complete their murderous invasion or launch a massive counter-strike that will forever change the course of history?

Katharine RossandRon O'Nealco-star in this spellbinding sci-fi action hit filmed on location aboard the U.S.S. Nimitz with the full participation of the U.S. Navy and the ship's crew. 『With a tantalizing "what-if?" scenario and a respectable cast of Hollywood veterans,The Final Countdownplays like a grand-scale episode ofThe Twilight Zone. It's really no more than that, and time-travel movies have grown far more sophisticated since this popular 1980 release, but there's still some life remaining in the movie's basic premise: What if a modern-era Navy aircraft carrier--in this case the real-life nuclear-poweredU.S.S. Nimitz--was caught in an anomalous storm and thrust 40 years backwards in time to the eve of Japan's attack on Pearl Harbor? Will the ship's commander (Kirk Douglas) interfere with history? Will the visiting systems analyst (Martin Sheen) convince him not to? Will a rescued senator from 1941 (Charles Durning) play an unexpected role in the future of American politics? Veteran TV director Don Taylor doesn't do much with the ideas posed by this potentially intriguing plot; he seems more interested in satisfying aviation buffs with loving footage of F-14 "Jolly Roger" fighter jets, made possible by the Navy's generous cooperation. That makesThe Final Countdowna better Navy film than a full-fledged time-travel fantasy, but there's a nice little twist at the end, and the plot holes are easy to ignore. James Cameron would've done it better, but this popcorn thriller makes an enjoyable double-bill withThe Philadelphia Experiment.--Jeff Shannon

(GET IT NOW IT'S A MUST HAVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
『I LOVE this season. I can't decide whether I like season 2 or 3 more. I love the growth of Cordy's character through the seasons. Some have a hard time seeing how Cordy can change, but people don't usually stay the same people they were in High School and as you could see from the Cordy/Xander relationship (even though she didn't show it to Xander, if you actually watch you can see she really did love him and she's had a good heart, it was just guarded) and Cordy actually helping Buffy in seasons 1-3 of Buffy's series Cordy did actually have a heart. It was just hidden under her trying to fit in, in high school until that's how you've become (in high school you don't really know how you are so you usually go with what feels comfortable or for a lot of people whatever makes you cool and popular, which was what Cordy had done). In season 1 when she was given the visions and that demon attacked her with all the pain of everyone in the world it started to change her (think, if you could feel the pain of EVERY SINGLE PERSON ON THE PLANET for God knows how long before Angel came and saved you from it, wouldn't you want to help them if you could)? Whenever Cordy got a vision she felt the pain, fear, and everything else that person was feeling and that would change anyone and it changed Cordy. Slowly, but surely. If you were to actually sit back and think about it and how you'd be in that same situation you might actually see how someone could care about helping others. Wes saw it in her because they became really close (like brother and sister) and Angel was so wrapped up in his own crap with Darla that he forgot about his friends and he didn't even notice that Cordy was changing. When Wes brought it to his attention Angel actually started to look at Cordy and realize it himself and if you notice in certain little gestures you could tell in season 3 he was going to fall for her.

I'm honestly a Spike/Buffy, Angel/Cordy fan so I can't understand why people are so up in arms about the Angel/Cordy ship, but what Buffy and Angel had was more of a high school first love thing and what Cordy and Angel had was deeper. It was a friendship that grew into love and I honestly don't think any adult that went back and watched it would see Buffy and Angel as anything more then that. If you like Buffy and Angel together, you might just want to watch the Twilight series. Bella and Edward are basically Buffy and Angel (you can tell the author got the idea from the Buffy series) except Buffy fights evil. The fans of Buffy and Angel that aren't so hung up on Angel/Buffy will LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE season 3. It's an amazing season.』

(angel season 3)
『the dvds were scratched and could not be played in the dvd i had to use a cleaner to get them to work and they would only work in my laptop.』

(could have been better)
『unfortunately this is the most lackluster angel season in the series. the whole connor-holtz story is really boring and repetitive. Holtz didn't really feel like a cool vampire hunter like Van helsing or blade. he doesn't have that kind of flair about him like lindsey or spike. that story arc doesn't really start to redeem it's self until the end of season 4! in spite of this there are a few gems among the rocks:

. the story between darla and angel comes full circle. the ultimate decision she makes is moving.

. it's interesting to see how angel handles the results of that decision. we get to see a new side of him

. Wesley' change at the end leads him to interesting and dark places. it makes him stronger and more interesting.

every series has it's worst season and best season. this is the worst one and 5 is the best. if you want to finish the series you'll need the main story arcs in this one to understand some of the following seasons arcs. while it's not torture you may want fast forward the boring parts.』

(Another great season)
『After almost five years I'm still sad the show ended. Why!? Because of a season like 3. Sure, David was not getting any younger, but two more season would have been great... at least we have After the Fall. In this season Angel had to deal with a lot of things: death of a beloved, fatherhood, betrayal, losses and love. He had to feel more human emotions than in any other season in his or in Buffy's time. The way it as written made us know much more of the man behind the brooding guy, we could relate to every one of these emotions and feel sorry for the characters in the season. It felt real, it was real. In the end, we had a human vampire, not only a vampire with a soul... or a show. He had to grow up. Besides, another character in the show suffered a 360º change. What to say!? Wonderfully cast and written, it is one of the two ever shows in TV... of course, the other being Buffy.』
『Even as Angel mourns the death of Buffy, Darla makes her way to L.A. with a mysterious new life growing within her. Now thrust into a role he never imagined, Angel needs the assistance of the Angel Investigations team more than ever. But while Cordelia, Gunn and Fred rally round the new dad, an ancient and deadly prophecy convinces Wesley to commit the ultimate betrayal.』
『In the third season ofAngel, the titular vampire with a soul was forced to stand alone thanks to the (temporary) death of his beloved Buffy and her show's move to a new network, with no crossover between the two allowed. He returns from seeking peace in a demon-haunted monastery to find the L.A. Angel Investigations team fighting supernatural crime in his absence. Fred is still haunted by the nightmare dimension from which they rescued her; Cordelia's visions get ever more painful and debilitating. The schemes of the evil law firm Wolfram and Hart become every more imaginative and dragon lady Lilah Morgan becomes even more of an enemy when lusting after Angel. Unbelievably, Darla, Angel's vampire sire and lover, turns up, pregnant with his child and is tortured by inexplicable motherly feelings as well as a raging thirst for human blood.

For a few episodes things go pretty well--but Angel's enemies, both those he has made in his quest for redemption and those he made when he was unadulterated evil, are still out there. Stephanie Romanov comes into her silky own in this series, making Lilah Morgan all the more seductively evil because she is clear about the choices she has made; the satanic law firm of Wolfram and Hart are this show's most inspired creation. As the season moves to its close, Wesley (Alexis Denisof) has hard choices to make. The devastating climax is compulsive viewing, and this season also contains one of the most impressive single episodes of the entire show: in "Waiting in the Wings," writer, director and creator Joss Whedon comes up with a classic ghost story as Angel and his crew go to the ballet and find a performance that is literally timeless.--Roz Kaveney

(Already been said...)
『This fifth season was a bit disappointing. I mainly purchased this season because I loved the first 3 seasons and then kinda put up with the 4th season. I needed to see where the story was going and if you have the compulsion to finish what you've started then get this season and the next. The show picks back up in the 6th season and you'll possibly be disappointed where the show ends but they get a chance to tie most of the loose ends up which is nice. Anyways, the 5th season is mainly for the fan who has followed every season not the casual fan.』

(I've enjoyed this series)
『I've enjoyed this series. If you're a fan, then get it...it's not easy to find this in rental stores if you want to watch it later.』

(Great price)
『The price here was unbeatable, and the dvd / box was in brand new, great condition. I got a great deal.』

(In the Zone)
『I'm a fan of Anthony Michael Hall and I love his work, especially in the Dead Zone series. For me, it's not all based on the story, which is great when it's a nail-biter and makes you hold your breath, but I also put great value to the quality of the acting and the actors. If they aren't performing up to my standards, then I won't watch the program. I've always felt that the actors performances in this series was outstanding. I've come to feel like they are real people and I get involved in their characters emotionally. When they hurt, I hurt, etc. If you love sci-fi, great acting and stories that keep you in your seat, then you'll love this series too!』

(Great Sci Fi series)
『Awesome science fiction series. I recommend it for all you psychic fans. It had a many really interesting, thought provoking episodes.』
『Based on the characters and story from the best-selling book by Stephen King, THE DEAD ZONE is a unique psychological thriller that combines a rich mix of action, the paranormal and a continuing quest for justice. Contains the complete fifth season.』

(Still Funny)
『Great DVD box, too bad that it is Region 1, so it is not playable on DVD players in Europe. However, with some adjustments it is playable on the PC. Not available in Europe, so this was the only way.

Great collection of old Tunes, that are still funny after all those years...timeless...』

(cartoons that really made you laugh)
『These old time bugs bunny cartoons brought back memories when cartoons were really funny. All baby boomers should see these cartoons and remember what was a true Saturday morning cartoon fun time watching tv..』
『More Looney Tunes. Your wish is our command. Because in this 4-disc set are 60 more of the most looneytic Looney Tunes ever unleashed on rabbits, pigs, mice or cats. Indeed, some have never before been on home video! Disc 1 features the tall, gray and haresome one. Disc 2 is all pig. Disc 3 is all about Speedy. And Disc 4 is the cats meow. One thing: to watch these, you must be as tall as this sign. Wrong disclaimer. Read the one in the box below. Got the idea? Now have fun』
『Like previous installments, theLooney Tunes Golden Collection, Volume 4mixes favorites from the Warner Bros. archives with relatively obscure older works. Chuck Jones' "Mississippi Hare" and Friz Freleng's "Sahara Hare" and "Knighty-Knight Bugs" (which won an Oscar) offer hilarious performances by Bugs. Two of Jones' earliest films, "The Night Watchman" and "Conrad the Sailor" prefigure his use of subtle expressions in his later cartoons. The disc of shorts by Frank Tashlin includes "Plane Daffy": pigeon see-duck-tress Hatta Mari anticipates Jayne Mansfield in such later Tashlin live-action comedies asWill Success Spoil Rock Hunter?

Not all of these films have aged as gracefully. Younger viewers will probably not catch the references to Charlie McCarthy, Bill Robinson, and other old film and radio stars. The Speedy Gonzalez cartoons feature ethnic humor that seems embarrassing today; it's also crashingly unfunny. Each disc offers a disclaimer about stereotypes, noting, "they were wrong then and are wrong today."

The discs are loaded with extras that range from a partial set of storyboards for "Sahara Hare" to three of the "Private Snafu" shorts, which were made for the "Army-Navy Screen Magazine" during WW II. The oddest extra is the documentaryBugs Bunny Superstar, which infuriated many of the Warner Bros. artists when it was released in 1977. Much of its information should be taken with a grain of salt. (Unrated, suitable for ages 6 and older: cartoon violence, some ethnic stereotypes, mild risqué humor, alcohol&tobacco use)--Charles Solomon
