(Constantine a classic)
『I have always liked Constantine. This is the second set I have bought. The first was worn out. The storyline is different and full of little twists. Keanu Reeves, does another stunning job of acting.
I hope you enjoy it as much as I have.
Cheers.............Shane (Australia)』

(Constantine Excellent Movie)
『Constantine is a great movie. It is based on the comic book series Hellblazer, and is about a Con-man/Magician. In the movie, Constantine played by Keanu Reeves, is hired to investigate a suicide, that leads him into the middle of a war between Heaven and Hell. It is a solid movie, one of my favorite Comic book to movie adaptation. The Visual effects are intense, and the story keeps you interested. If you have never read the comic, the movie does a good job on its own. A suggestion would be to pick up the comic and read it before you watch this movie, so it is more enjoyable.』
『Based on the DC Comics/Vertigo Hellblazer graphic novels and written by Kevin Brodbin and Frank Cappello, Constantine tells the story of John Constantine (Keanu Reeves), a man who has literally been to hell and back. When he teams up with skeptical policewoman Angela Dodson (Rachel Weisz) to solve the mysterious suicide of her twin sister, their investigation takes them through the world of demons and angels that exists just beneath the landscape of contemporary Los Angeles. Caught in a catastrophic series of otherworldly events, the two become inextricably involved and seek to find their own peace at whatever cost.

DVD Features:
Additional Scenes:18 minutes of additional scenes
Alternate endings

『In the grand scheme of theological thrillers,Constantineaspires for the greatness ofThe Exorcistbut ranks more closely withThe Order. Based on the popularHellblazercomic book series, and directed with nary a shred of intelligence by music video veteran Francis Lawrence, it's basicallyThe Matrixwith swarming demons instead of swarming machines. Keanu Reeves slightly modifies hisMatrixpersona as John Constantine, who roams the dark-spots of Los Angeles looking for good-evil, angel-devil half-breeds to ensure that "the balance" between God and Satan is properly maintained. An ancient artifact and the detective twin of a woman who committed evil-induced suicide (Rachel Weisz) factor into the plot, which is taken so seriously that you'll want to stand up and cheer when Tilda Swinton swoops down as the cross-dressing angel Gabriel and turns this silliness into the camp-fest it really is. The digital effects are way cool (dig those hellspawn with the tops of their heads lopped off!), so if you don't mind a juvenile lesson in pseudo-Catholic salvation,Constantineis just the movie for you!--Jeff Shannon

Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review
(This valley is just one long smorgasbord!)
『With this review getting me past the halfway point in my "31 horror movie reviews for the 31 days of October" concept I had, leading up to the 31st by Halloween, I figure I should add my input on yet another classic, namely "Tremors." "Tremors" is one of those movies with a universal appeal, whether or not you're a hardcore fan of horror movies. It's got a strong plot, consistent series of events, awesome action and intensity, and characters that are very likable and the kind you want to see survive. Although it's not as graphic as other movies of the genre, highlighted by the PG-13 rating, there are some good monster-related gore scenes, like when a construction worker jackhammers a monster through the ground and blood bubbles up. There's also a lot of good laughs throughout the movie, including some brilliant one-liners that make for some down-to-earth comedy. Even more, we have a budding romance in the sub-plot that makes for a happy ending at the end. The monsters, although are kept underground in the earlier half of the movie, are amazing when shown. And of course, great monsters make a great monster movie.

The sound and picture quality of the disc is really nice, too. What's more, there's lots of extra features here that beef up the quality of the disc. I actually got this in the "Tremors 4-Pack", which has all four movies in the series, and at a great price too. Overall, I can't think of a single bad thing about this movie, or the disc it comes on. For those seeking a highly-entertaining, down-to-earth monster movie, "Tremors" will sound off a 10 on the Richter Scale! Thanks for the time, and peace.』

(Hey it's our old pal Stumpy!)
『I remember seeing this movie as a kid after watching "Beetlejuice" and the infamous sandworms of Saturn. So when seeing this film with giant carnivorous worms, I was instantly hooked. Years later this films still manages to pack a punch and still hold my attention longer than most films today.

Fred Ward and Kevin Bacon are unlikely pair to be in such a oddball buddy film turned Scifi horror straight out the Atomic Age. Micheal Gross and the fiery, redheaded Reba McEntire (who by the way looks good carrying a machine gun, wow where can I find a woman like that?:)) play a believable married couple. With Reba's levelheadedness and Gross' paranoid but not over the top gun fanatic-turned-survivalist is an interesting combination (which strangely reminds me of my brother who seems to emulate Burt down to the wall of guns).

Even his motto has become my brother's favorite saying, " If you need it and don't got it, you sing a different tune,".

Anyway, this film manages to be scary and funny at the same time, a feat not easily accomplished in today's hack'em-up-while-their-screamin' horror flicks. Also, it's somewhat kid friendly as there aren't buckets of red corn syrup pouring off every inch of celluloid. The director seems to have studied Hitchcock's Less-is-more method when it comes to death scenes, though a few gory bits are bound to pop up.

It's a very fun film from beginning to end and is well thought out, and is worth a watch. Also it's a great popcorn movie for a rainy day. Definitely worth owning.』

(Don't Waste Your Money)
『One of my favorite movies!!
Unfortunately, the picture and sound quality (dolby 2.0) on this DVD are very poor (even on an upconvert player).

Not worth buying!
Hopefully a better product will be released in the future.』

(Good Entetainment)
『Just a fun movie. Never made it big in the movies but an enjoyaable experience overall. Some swearing but it fits -- not just for the sake of using the F word which, incidentally, is never used.』

(Still Creepy After All These Years)
『This is a scary movie with good suspense-horror and excellent special-effects as huge worm-like creatures go after humans in the desert. It kind of sounds like one of those hokey 1950s sci-fi films but it isn't. This can really scare you at times.

Despite the ton of profanity in here and some dumb dialog and dumb characters, for sheer suspense for an hour-and-a-half, this has it in spades. The story is involving. Once you get hooked, you can't put this film down. One thing for sure: you will not be bored.

It's hard to believe this film has been out about 20 years.

『Kevin Bacon and Fred Ward star as two country handymen who lead a cast of zany characters to safety in this exciting sci-fi creature comedy.

Just as Val McKee (Bacon) and Earl Bassett (Ward) decide to leave Perfection, Nevada, strange rumblings prevent their departure. With the help of a shapely seismology student (Finn Carter), they discover their desolate town is infested with gigantic man-eating creatures that live below the ground.

The race is on to overcome these slimy subterraneans and find a way to higher ground, in this enjoyable thriller co-starring Michael Gross and Reba McEntire.

『Who would have guessed that this clever, fast-paced creature feature from 1990 would become a beloved miniclassic worthy of its own Collector's Edition DVD?Tremorsdidn't actually break any new ground (even though its tunneling worm monsters certainly did), but it revved up the classic monster-movie formulas of the 1950s with such energetic enthusiasm and humor that it made everything old seem new again. It's also got a cast full of enjoyable actors who clearly had a lot of fun making the film, and director Ron Underwood strikes just the right balance of comedy and terror as a band of small-town rednecks battles a lot of really nasty-looking giant worms. The special effects are great, the one-liners fly fast and furious between heroes Kevin Bacon and Fred Ward (and yes, that's country star Reba McEntire packin' awesome firepower), and it's all done with the kind of flair one rarely associates with goofy monster flicks like this. Followed by a direct-to-video sequel (Tremors: Aftershocks), this horror thriller was given the deluxe treatment for its DVD release. Bonus features include an original "making-of" documentary, previously unseen video showing the creation of the worm-creatures, outtakes from the film, the original ending not shown in theaters, theatrical trailers, and a gallery of production photographs. If you're a fan, consider this a must-have disc!--Jeff Shannon

(Best Movies!)
『The Resident Evil Trilogy is an amazing trilogy. All the movies are good. The acting is good, the story is good. If you are a fan of action movies, then you need to see these movies. Also, alot of people are mad about how the 3rd movie left it as such a cliffhanger. Well, there is going to be a 4th movie, and it is being shot right now. And should be coming out next summer or fall. So if you like action/horror movies, then you should check out Resident Evil.』

(Resident Evil Trilogy)
『Movie is great and came in the exact condition that the seller said it would come. The service was prompt. I really appreciated that.』

(Tech Review)
『Even though the Amazon listing says there are 4 discs mine only had 3 and the packaging is designed to hold only 3 discs. The box even says 3 disc set on the side. Which is fine it has what you want the 3 movies. I did submit to Amazon that they change the listing.

I almost didn't buy this set because of an other review saying that one of the movies was full screen, which I hate, having all widescreen TV's, but the Apocalypse DVD has both wide and full screen on it, so I was a happy camper. All 3 are anamorphic widescreen. The first movie is 1.85:1 so it will fill a widescreen TV. Apocalypse and Extinction are both 2.40:1 so you will still get black bars on the top and bottom even on a widescreen TV.

If you're like me and own a Sony 400 disc or Pioneer 301 disc DVD changer you'll like that it does have title text and a jacket picture on all 3 discs, so you won't have to type in the name or make a backup just so you can add the name to the disc. (come on disc makers take the extra 3 minutes to add title text to your discs when you master them!)

(Great movies)
『I love horror and sci-fi. Don't know why I never watched these. So I purchased the trilogy-box set and watched them all 3. Really good movies.』

(Resident Evil Trilogy Boxed Set)
『I ordered this boxed set of DVDs for my husband's birthday. I heard a rattle when I unpacked it, and checked on the discs. The whole package is cheaply made, thin paper cardboard. It was almost impossible to open without causing damage to the paper box. I don't usually have to use a steak knife to open a DVD package.

One DVD is on the first side of the plastic box, and the other 2 are layered over each other on the second side, very poor design. The disc on the top layer was loose. It wouldn't stay in place at all.

Then, I noticed as I was logging the movies (we own about 1000 DVDs, so I keep a list or we'd own about 1500 due to duplications), was that 2 of the discs are widescreen, and 1 is full screen! Not my husband's preference, and now it's too late to order something else.

The only reason I didn't give this a 1 star review was:

1) I managed to get the overlapping disc to stay in place, finally.

2) A preview disc for movie 4 was included, as a "bonus". Of course, movie 4 was released 12/2008, so that's not really a big deal anymore.』

(Save your money on this one!)
『Normally I love the Friday the 13th movies so I thought I would buy this box set from Amazon. When it arrived I must say I wasn't very impressed at all with how the box set looked. Besides the fact that Paramount released it on 5 slim cases with 2 movies on each disc... on the 3rd disc, part 6 would not even play at all! The only thing about this set was the special features. Other than that, this set is not worth the money!』

(Classic!)
『Friday the 13th series is a classic (excluding a few films, mainly some newer ones...).
If you're just looking to have some fun and see a good ol' horror slasher film, definitely get this set!
It includes 1-8 of the series and some extras. Didn't really get around to watching any of the extra's.
But it's great to be able to watch any of the original F13 movies when you want.
It's two movies on one DVD, so the picture/audio quality has probably taken a hit. But it's not really important for this type of movie.

If you've liked the F13th series, this should definitely be in your collection!
Currently waiting for the whole series to be released on Blu-Ray and released as a set. Even if the picture quality can't be compared to a movie such as Wall-e (One can dream :P ).』

(Love Horror)
『Thank you so much for offering the series..I am a true fan to horror movies..This made a great addition to my collection!』

(Drive-In Movie Horror (on a disc))
『More than half of these movies I first saw at a local drive-in movie theater when me and some friends got small cans of margarita mix, some snacks, and had a blast laughing most of the time. Now I dont have to leave the house, and I still laugh. Who needs boring talk and endless extras when this movie set cuts (CUTS??) to the chase with the main arena in a long line of typical laughable folk in absolute harms way. This movie line cannot be too bad when the first movie presents the beginning of the terror with the realization that it is the mother who actually started it all, and the rest to follow is nothing more than a series of a grotesque on revenge for his mother's assasination. Though I basicallly gave up drinking (and what not), this great easy to put on the tube discs run the gamut of what made me tick in the drive-in movie 80s, and well worth the fondest of memories. Now wasnt that sentimental, AWWWwwwwww. Slash!!!!!』

(Friday the 13th from crystal lake to manhattan 8 movies)
『Now I dont have to wait to rent the next movie. I can sit in my living room and watch them in sequence. I added to my collection of scary movies』
『DISC 1: FRIDAY THE 13th - The film takes place years after a young boy named Jason drowns in a lake while attending Camp Crystal Lake and shortly thereafter, the camp closes. Flash forward to the present, where the owner decides to re-open the camp and one by one, the counselors have mysteriously been murdered by an unseen person. PART 2 - The second installment picks up with Jason Voorhees, presumed dead from drowning years ago, exacting revenge on the innocent campers at "Camp Blood." Living as a hermit in the woods all these years, Jason witnesses the graphic murder of his mother and decides to wreak havoc on everyone at the camp - killing each camp counselor one by one. DISC 2: PART 3 - Vacationing teenagers take off for a weekend of relaxation at Camp Crystal Lake. Planning a few days of sex, drugs and rock-and-roll, they are in for a series of frightening surprises when a local motorcycle gang follows the teenagers back to their campsite, only to find a persistent Jason with an agenda of his own. Adorned with his trademark hockey mask for the first time in the series, Jason delivers non-stop chills and thrills as everyone on the lake must fight for their lives. Part III includes cast commentary by author Peter Bracke and actors Larry Zerner, Paul Kratka, Dana Kimmell and Richard Brooker. PART IV: THE FINAL CHAPTER - Jason resurfaces from a seemingly deadly massacre and returns to Camp Crystal Lake to a new set of prey. Starring a young Corey Feldman as Tommy Jarvis, it seems Jason has finally met his match in the 12-year old horror movie maven. Enlisting the help of a local hunter, Tommy and his sister must rely on one another to help defeat Jason, while also trying to avoid their own demise. DISC 3: PART V: A NEW BEGINNING - With Jason dead, someone new has begun a killing spree of their own, using Jason's M.O. and preying on inhabitants of a sanctuary. PART VI: JASON LIVES - Tommy returns to the grave to ensure that Jason is indeed dead. Instead of remaining dead, Jason is accidentally brought back to life by Tommy and now Tommy must stop all the mindless killing and make sure Jason dies for good this time. Part VI features commentary by director Tom McLoughlin. DISC 4: PART VII: THE NEW BLOOD - The film centers on Tina Shepard, a young girl with telekinetic powers who believes she drowned her father in Crystal Lake. Returning to the site as a method of supposedly helping her cope with her grief, Tina accidentally frees Jason from his watery grave, only to lead to more killing sprees by the man in the infamous hockey mask. Part VII features commentary by Kane Hodder and director John Carl Buechler and Part VIII features commentary by director Tom McLoughlin. PART VIII: JASON TAKES MANHATTAN - A graduating class of a local high school vacation on a cruise ship and unbeknownst to them, Jason is a stowaway on the same ship. Slowly killing students one at a time, Jason eventually sinks the boat, stranding the few lone survivors in Manhattan. Among those survivors, is Rennie, who believes Jason attempted to drown her as a child. Fighting for her their lives, Rennie and the other survivors must make sure Jason dies once and for all. A featurette "Tales From the Cutting Room," in which exclusive deleted scenes and footage is revealed for the first time. An 8-part featurette "The Friday The 13th Chronicles," which looks at the legacy of the films throughout their history, featuring cast and crew commenting on each film and why they appeal to audiences. Includes Adrienne King, Amy Steel, Corey Feldman, Kane Hodder, Lar Park Lincoln, Betsy Palmer, Tom Savini and directors Sean Cunningham, Tom McLoughlin, Rob Heddon, Joseph Zito and John Carl Buechler. A 3-part featurette "Secrets Galore Behind The Gore," which looks at the work of master make-up effects designer Tom Savini in Part 1 and Part IV and John Carl Buechler in Part VII. Includes rare and never-before-seen footage, drawings and stills illustrating the make-up techniques used to create Jason and achieve elaborate death scenes. A featurette "Crystal Lake Victims Tell All!" in which cast and crew from various films share amusing anecdotes. Includes Corey Feldman, Larry Zerner, Adrienne King, Amy Steel, Lar Park Lincoln and directors. A featurette "Friday Artifacts and Collectibles," which looks at props and collectables from the films. The theatrical trailers from all 8 movies except Part VI, which is represented by the teaser trailer.』
『Five discs gather the first eight movies in theFriday the 13thseries, plus a batch of behind-the-scenes featurettes. You can track the rise, fall, and endless resurrections of Jason Voorhees, from the original 1980 film to Jason's self-kidding trip to the Big Apple. Horror fans eat up packages such as this, but there's something odd about the deluxe treatment for a series that spotlighted atrocious acting, pitiful production values, and inane storytelling.

You'll spot a few future "name" actors in various installments: Kevin Bacon is morbidly dispatched in the first one. But in general, the dominant focus is how to kill horny teenagers, most of whom have gathered at Camp Crystal Lake in the misguided belief that the curse of the impossible-to-kill Jason has worn off. The first movie has a certain raw, crummy ability to shock,Part 2is a dismal retread, andPart 3actually features interesting use of 3-D, which doesn't translate to its flat DVD version. The fourth is boldly subtitledThe Final Chapter, and we all know where that went, but it does have Crispin Glover doing a funky dance.A New BeginningandJason Livescontinue Jason's bad mood, maybe because the hockey mask doesn't fit right. The seventh chapter,The New Blood, stakes Jason against a worthy opponent (Crystal Lake's answer to telekinetic Carrie), but the result is the same. Part 8's subtitle,Jason Takes Manhattan, is wittier than the movie itself, as Jason menaces an unlucky cruise ship of high-schoolers bound for New York--where Mr. J fits right in.

Some of the films come with commentaries from directors or cast members, including heralded Jason performer Kane Hodder. Brief documentaries (ranging from five to 15 minutes) cover separate installments with amusing anecdotes, including interviews with Sean S. Cunningham, Tom Savini, and various actors. In another doc, actors speak of the fraternity of young actors who've been slaughtered by Jason over the years. A deleted-scenes section is skimpy and not very interesting, while the tricks of special-effects gore merit a film to themselves. It's a customer-savvy DVD box, even if the effect of watching a bunch of this stuff together is a little dispiriting.--Robert Horton

(L, please come back!)
『This was an awesome addition to the Death Note universe. L grows from a robotic, isolated individual to a real live loving and caring human being. I wish they would cheat and find a way to keep L alive - maybe he could have his own series?』

(Suprisingly Entertaining Sequel to "Death Note")
『I was'nt really expecting much from this sequel to the Death Note saga, but I was pleasently surprised by it. The story centers around the strange, always hungry detective from the first two films, "L". This time, he gets involved with a plot by some crazies to release a bio-weapon that will kill millions. But the clock is ticking in more ways than one: L only has a few weeks to live due to his writing his own name in the Death Note book. In my opinion, this film is just as good as the first two and is a great end to the whole story arc. Fans of Asain cinema will love this one as well as those who rarely watch these types of movies.』

(I think it was the best one(:)
『L Change the World is a spin-off of Death Note.

In my opinion I liked this one better then the first too. They had a great story line and it shows you what L did the last 23 days he had left to live. You even get to meet some other people from Wammy's. It's pretty great.

This movie is just mainly for the big L fans out there. If you love L then I bet you would like this movie.

Ever since I got it i've watched it ALOT! I'm kinda addicted to it. xD and I've even started acting like L more xD

Anyway, I highly reccomend you watch this movie(:』

(Totally awesome!)
『I got to say that for every Death Note fan, this is one after the first two films that really kicks in making the whole entire trilogy super awesome!』

(It was alright...)
『This movie was simply okay. I loved both L and Light in the Death Note movies and animes/mangas but L just didn't seem like L in this movie. Both his deductive reasoning (what little he had to do since almost the whole plot line was handed to him by chance encounters) and humorous eccentricities were very diminished. I think to really enjoy this movie you really have to enjoy L even if he's not quiet himself. However, it was nice to see some stuff at the beginning that gave some insight into events in the other two movies, and the plot was good, it just wasn't Death Note. Even with the villain being a former member of Whammy House there never seemed to be the battle of wits you see between Light and L. So I suppose if you want a potentially heart warming story involving L and a decent plot you might like this movie, if you want the Psycho-drama of Death Note you won't find it here and, like me you'll probably be a little disappointed. My honest recommendation is to rent this if you really want to see it.』

(Krull)
『I watched this so long ago, when my children were toddlers. One day I was cruising through the movie channels, and I found this old 80's movie that I had forgotten that ever existed. It was showing the scene with a very young Liam Neeson and Robbie Coltrane (Hagrid of the Harry Potter Movies) and I just sat there mezmerized all over again. I LOVE fantasy type movies, and this one I remembered from way back. IF you want Mild violence and great fun, this is the one you want to see.』

(Great treatment but misleading packaging)
『A+ For the movie itself. This cheesy film has never looked or sounded better, and that's why I wanted the DVD.

That said, this appears to be a newer edition of the DVD. Many of the extras advertised on the packages are missing entirely. Instead, it comes with just the two commentary soundtracks, a trailer for Men in Black and a DRM-laden version of the movie to play on a computer or a Sony PSP. After repeatedly digging through the menu system to find them, I popped the disc in my PC and had a look at the contents. A quick examination of the disc reveals that it does not contain the Marvel Comic presentation, the Journey to Krull video, or any photo galleries.

I'm rating the product well because I didn't buy it for the extras, but new buyers beware!』

(Krull)
『I love this movie and want to get it on DVD for several years. I finally have done this. It is one of my favorite movies of all times. It still looks good after all those years. I would recommend it to science fiction fans and just movie fans.』

(Krull: A Masterpiece of 80's Cheesiness)
『Oh goodness... this is the kind of movie that is watched a million times in somebody's dork-haven basement where all the Dungeons-and-Dragons and Magic-the-Gathering sessions are held. This movie is the epitome of terrible acting, plot holes the size of Alaska and special effects that are so bad they make you cringe. I give it 4 stars, though, because it's the kind of movie I will watch over and over and over again--even to the point of being able to recite it back. If I was the sort of person without the ability to see past the cheesiness and utter stupidity of this movie I wouldn't bother even contemplating watching it... but if you like suspension of belief, and a good old-fashioned early-80's low-budget fairy tale with a sci-fi twist, then you should go for it.』

(excellent)
『Film is well worth watching. Story line was entertaining and the directing and cast were surpurb.』
『In a fantasy adventure set in a world peopled by creatures of myth and magic a prince embarks on a quest to find the magical Glaive and then rescues his young bride. Colwyn (Ken Marshall) is the leader of a mythical sword-and-sorcery group in pursuit of "the Beast" that has kidnaped his fiance Lyssa (Lysette Anthony).System Requirements:Running Time: 120 Min.Format: DVD MOVIE Genre: SCI-FI/FANTASY Rating: PG UPC: 043396058903 Manufacturer No: 05890』
『There's something inescapably appealing about this camp 1983Star Wars-meets-The Lord of the Ringsknockoff that encourages the viewer to overlook its many silly shortcomings and simply enjoy the fun. James Horner's rollicking music score certainly helps, as does the epic-scale CinemaScope photography of the breathtaking Italian landscapes. The costumes and extravagant production design are also great to look at, and much of Derek Meddings's visual effects work still looks striking. Freddie Jones stands head and shoulders above the rest of the cast as the wise Ynyr, while the two romantic leads, Ken Marshall as Prince Colwyn and Lysette Anthony (with an overdubbed American voice) as Princess Lyssa, are mere formalities on which to hang the plot. The all-British supporting cast includes Todd Carty, Bernard Bresslaw, Robbie Coltrane, Liam Neeson, and the gorgeous Francesca Annis. If you feel the need for some escapist sword-and-sorcery fantasy, thenKrulldelivers in full measure.--Mark Walker

(Great film HORRIBLE BLU-RAY)
『The film is 5 stars, my complaint is the transfer. Despite the higher resolution it only looks marginally better than on DVD. I even played it on my 1080p computer monitor thinking the problem might have been my 720p television but it had the same problems. The picture is too soft, almost as if it wasn't filmed in HD (but of course it was) and there were specs on the screen as if I was watching it in an old movie house. Hopefully they will release a better transfer of the DVD and give those of us who bought this a discount on it :)』

(what do you think you know about zombies?)
『28 Days Later (blu-ray)

9.2 THE FILM ITSELF
8.7 VISUALS
9.1 SOUND
8.5 PACKAGING
8.5 EXTRAS

When I first saw 28 Days Later I was instantly stunned. It was like no other "horror / zombie" film I had seen before. It was more based on human interactions and the complexity of staying alive. It seemed like it was based on actual human interactions and what they would actually do. It just seems so real. And so brutally frightening. The film, which revolves around an outbreak of a rage virus in London (and surrounding areas) follows Jim as he awakes in a hospital and tries to figure out what has happened. Seeing the eerie, quiet and abandoned big cities sends a chill up your spine - and I can imagine it would be even more amazing if you live there and see how busy it actually is (me being American, I have never seen these places in person).

SPECIAL FEATURES
1. commentary w/ Danny Boyle and Alex Garland
2. 6 Deleted scenes w/ optional commentary
3. 4 Alternative Endings w/ optional commentary
4. Pure Rage: The Making of 28 Days Later
5. Jacknife Lee music video
6. Production Still Gallery w/ commentary by Danny Boyle
7. Running Polaroid Gallery w/ commentary intro by Danny Boyle
8. Animated Storyboards

The feature commentary is pretty good as Danny Boyle talks about some scenes getting cut and how difficult some of the production was. The alternative endings are a great treat. The "extreme" ending (or whatever it's "officially" called) really showed a massively different ending to the film. And hearing Boyle talk about how it would be impossible to pull that off and have it make sense was hysterical.

I was most impressed by the number of items that had a commentary. We learn why deleted scenes got cut, and the commentary on the production still made it much more interesting to watch.

28 Days Later after its release in 2003 I think has raised the bar and the quality of standard to zombie-ridden movies. But it's not a typical horror/zombie film. There are no cheesy characters, no easy ways out and no common "been there, done that" type of feel that you see in most American horror / zombie films. The atmosphere is terrific and the suspense is held amazingly throughout

If you want a smartly made horror / zombie / sci-fi film, then invest in 28 Days Later. Oh, and since this is the blu-ray review, it looks wonderful. Some scenes are fuzzy and grainy, but that's because of the types of cameras they use. But it still looks great, for those who wanted to know.

BLU-RAY SCORE
9.3/10 "OUTSTANDING"』

(bad blu-ray DO NOT BUY!)
『Great movie, terrible transfer to blu-ray. I bought this when it originally came out on dvd and loved it. Picked it up when it was released on BR hoping to have a brand new experience but I was wrong. I've seen better quality video on VCR recordings left over from the early nineties. It's absolutely disgusting that the blu-ray community keeps paying high dollar for trash transfers like this. DO NOT BUY ON BLU-RAY!!』

(picture quality)
『28 Days Later is one of my favorite 'zombie movie'..

When I first opening the packaging of this BluRay disc, I was wondering just how great would the picture quality be..
But I was full of dissapointment when the film starts.. The picture quality is not much better than the DVD version..
I can notice the digital compression at work.. especially on dark scenes..

Then I remember that this movie was shot on Canon XL-1 MiniDV camera..
No wonder.. :)

And the sound,
The dialogue level is so low so I had to pump up the volume of my AV Receiver (I'm using Onkyo TX-SR 606), but when it comes to the high-tense scenes, the music and sound FX is like blowing up my speaker set.. So I had to decrease the volume..
It only have 5.1 DTS Master Audio for English language, no 5.1 Dolby Digital; so I can't watch with the 'Night Mode' on..』

(HORROR/ROAD/THRILLER/SUSPENSE FLICK)
『28 DAYS LATER

I have argued it for years and it seems that there are still people out there who think this is a zombie when it is clearly not. This film is no were near being a zombie flick as the INFECTED are not dead they are just INFECTED with a virus that was put into monkeys. I don't know why people think of this as a zombie flick but what ever. This is indeed a great film and when it was released one of the scariest films in recent years. I remember seeing this and thinking man this is pretty intense as I was not expecting it. Still I found it to be a wonderful film experience and thought that it was deserving of the praise it was getting, most of the time movies are not.

For those who have yet to see this for some reason it is about a man who wakes up 28 days after a virus has struck the UK and turned most of the population into raging killers. The virus which is called rage I guess makes a person go back to their animalistic instincts and want to survive and kill, nothing else. At first the guy has no idea what is going on until a few infected come his way but luckily for him a few other survivors are there to help out. These survivors are a tough bunch and are just out looking for food and supplies and have no problem leaving our lead behind. As time goes on a people get picked off a father and daughter come into the mix and the film turns into a road movie. They make their way across the country looking for salvation based on a radio signal they picked up.

Writer Alex Garland did a great job with this movie taking a nice end of the world type idea and making it feel very fresh and very real. Director Danny Boyle did a great job converting the script and idea onto the screen. This film while not at least to me jump out of your seat scary it is still a very intense feeling film or at least it was when it came out. Acting wise one of my favorites ever Cillian Murphy is perfect for this film and did a marvelous job. Naomie Harris was excellent as well and did a great job as did Brendan Gleeson and Megan Burns. Every one in this movie did a great job and I can't stress that enough, great movie I think.

I had a lot of fun watching this when it first came out and still it is fun to watch right now, that's just me. Is this a perfect movie, that is up to you but I have a great time watching it. If you have not seen this then I highly recommend it to you, I say buy it and skip a rental. The look and style of this film is great and the road story that is involved in this is my favorite part of the film. The first part of the movie is the end of the world "we have to survive" which is defiantly the horror aspect of the film. Then we get the road flick that is the "we have hope now" part of the film which is the fun part of the film. Then we close it out with the dramatic thriller/suspense part of the movie when the army holds them captive. Could you ask for in a film, I think not.

『Hailed as the most frightening film since The Exorcist, acclaimed Director Danny Boyle's visionary take on zombie horror "isn't just scary…it's absolutely terrifying" (Access Hollywood).

An infirmary patient awakens from a coma to an empty room…in a vacant hospital…in a deserted city. A powerful virus, which locks victims into a permanent state of murderous rage, has transformed the world around him into a seemingly desolate wasteland. Now a handful of survivors must fight to stay alive, unaware that the worst is yet to come…』
『The director/producer team that createdTrainspottingturn their dynamic cinematic imaginations to the classic science fiction scenario of the last people on Earth. Jim (Cillian Murphy) wakes up from a coma to find London deserted--until he runs into a mob of crazed plague victims. He gradually finds other still-human survivors (including Naomie Harris), with whom he heads off across the abandoned countryside to find the source of a radio broadcast that promises salvation.28 Days Lateris basically an updated version ofThe Omega Manand other post-apocalyptic visions; but while the movie may lack originality, it makes up for it in vivid details and creepy paranoid atmosphere.28 Days Later'sportrait of how people behave in extreme circumstances--written by novelist Alex Garland (The Beach)--will haunt you afterward. Also featuring Brendan Gleeson (The General, Gangs of New York) and Christopher Eccleston (Shallow Grave, The Others).--Bret Fetzer

『this dvd was in immaculate condition. no scratches, dirt or tears..it looked liked i bought it from the store brand new. thank you.』

(A Good Quality Transfer... But Lacking Special Features (HD/DVD Combo))
『Halloween got me in the mood for Army of Darkness, so shortly after I bought this one off Amazon.

I don't own a HD DVD player, so this is a review of the DVD side. In fact, this combo format version was cheaper than the regular DVD version (go figure).

Under "Customer Images" on this page, there are some images that compare the DVD side of this release to the Anchor Bay release (Army of Darkness)

The images supplied are helpful because they address 2 things:

1) The video on the Universal release (HD/DVD Combo) does have more in frame on the left/right sides of the screen, but a little bit is cropped on the top and bottom (in comparison to the Anchor Bay release)

2) As the images show, the colors on the Universal release are a bit brighter. On the Anchor Bay DVD, the colors are much cooler. The comparison pictures are a little exaggerated in my opinion though, I think Universal did a very good job with it. The daylight scenes are crisp and vibrant, and the night shots capture the original "cool" colors very well too.

If you're looking for a good DVD version of AOD, this is one of the best. If you want special features however, this is not the right DVD for you.』

(Great movie)
『I ordered this movie because it is a great comedy... didn't realize that there are 2 movies before this one, but it goes well by itself too. I got my order pretty quickly and it was in great condition!』

(If Evil Dead 1 and 2 were pointless.)
『if Evil Dead 1&2 were pointless blood fests of carnage, then this is pointless and not scary nor funny Period. The 3rd/final Installment (thank god) is the worst of the worst. your a fan of the trilogy perhaps it appeals to you, this is just my opinion with all due respect.』

(Do not Buy this Movie)
『This movie is just plain stupid. Terrible plot and bad acting. This is the big budget take on this series?
It figures. Just avoid it.』

『Bound in human flesh, inked in blood - and amazingly hard to pronounce - the ancient "Necronomicon" (Book of the Dead) unleashes unspeakable evil upon mankind in director Sam Raimi's (Darkman) outrageously hilarious sword-and-sorcery epic. Back to do battle with the hideous "Deadites", Bruce Campbell reprises his role from the Evil Dead series as Ash, the handsome, shotgun-toting, chainsaw-armed department store clerk from S-Mart's housewares division. Demonic forces time warp him - and his '73 Oldsmobile - into England's Dark Ages, where he romances a beauty (Embeth Davidtz) and faces legions of undead beasts, including a ghastly army of skeletons. Can Ash save the living from the dead, rescue his girlfriend and get back to his own time? Overflowing with spectacular special effects, Army of Darkness will make you scream with fear and laughter. In the words of The Washington Post, it's "drop-dead fun"!』
『A movie that only true horror buffs could love,Army of Darknessis officially part 3 in the wild and wackyEvil Deadtrilogy masterminded by the perversely inventive director Sam Raimi, who would later serve as executive producer of the popular syndicated TV seriesHercules: The Legendary Journeys. Raimi's favorite actor, Bruce Campbell, returns as Ash (hero of the first twoEvil Deadflicks), a hardware-store clerk who is magically transported--along with his beat-up Oldsmobile and a chainsaw attachment for his severed left forearm--to the brutal battlefields of the 14th century. He quickly assumes power (who else in the Middle Ages packs a shotgun and a chainsaw?), and unites his band of medieval knights against the dreaded Army of the Dead. Raimi gleefully subverts almost every horror-movie cliché as he serves up a nonstop parade of blood, gore, and vicious sword-bearing skeletons--an affectionate homage to animator Ray Harryhausen's classicJason and the Argonauts. The frantic action is fun while it lasts, but even at 80 minutesArmy of Darknessnearly wears out its welcome. You know that Raimi can maintain the mayhem for only so long before it grows tiresome, and fortunately this madcap movie quits while it's ahead.--Jeff Shannon

(Dark, serious, moody, a surprisingly good film....)
『I have never seen the original Godzilla/Gojira film, and I've only seen clips from other Godzilla movies (including the big budget remake with Matthew Broderick back in the 1990's), so I only knew Godzilla from the campy, badly dubbed, and badly cut films shown on TV indiscriminately. So when the original film with subtitles and uncut was on DVD, I decided to try it. I'm glad I did.

Like many have already said here, this is a surprisingly somber film, dark, ruminative, and melancholy, and it's also pretty terrifying, especially for its time. This is a serious film. There is no campy theatrics whatsoever in this film, and I found much of it scary, surprisingly sad and moving, and at times, thought provoking. There are some cringe inducing moments with the special effects, which are quite dated and make the mistake of using minatures, which is really obvious in many of the scenes. The performances are very good, especially the quietly powerful Takashi Shimura, who is famous for his appearances in Akira Kurosawa's films. The dilemmas of the scientists and the government officials are handled in a complex, intelligent fashion, and the turmoil the scientist (who invented the "oxygen destroyer") goes through is very powerful indeed. There is also a lot of pro-environment, anti-atomic bomb subtext going on here as well. The main rampage of Godzilla is intense, along with the aftermath, which is reminiscent of a war zone. The film has great, moody black and white photography, reminiscent of Mario Bava's black and white films, like Black Sunday.

On this DVD set, you get both the original film and the recut, redub Godzilla: King of the Monsters. I haven't seen the recut/redub all the way through, but I honestly don't want to. I already know they've butchered it, and I like the original very much, so I don't have an overriding need to see it. So check out Gojira, and most of you who have a low opinion of Godzilla movies will be surprised at it.

(Wonderfully dark rumination on science and destruction)
『Not to make too much of it, but this version of the film has really good characters and rings a fearful echo of what Japan experienced during WWII. The tone of the film is dark and foreboding, with normal people experiencing extraordinary fear.

There is a young couple whose relationship is secret, as the girl has been promised to a secretive scientist who rarely emerges from his laboratory. Her father, also a scientist, is a distinguished paleontologist with an unusually open mind. As Gojira suddenly appears, they are the ones who deal with him. The monster's destruction, not to belabor the obvious, mirrors the recent destruction of Japan, both by fire bombs and the use of nuclear power (it disturbed the monster's habitat and scarred it).

What distinguishes this film are the thoughts of the scientists. The paleontologist wants to study the monster, but helps the authorities. The young scientist has discovered a new force of nature that he fears will be used by politicians for war; he shares the secret with his promised fiancee, who is horrified. They actually discuss these issues, sometimes in a public forum with angry honest farm women, who argue that the truth must be told. More thoughtful than your normal 50s monster flick!

OK, the effects are extremely clunky - my son and I laughed at the stiff rubber suit - but the emotional tone is consistent and perfectly executed. In this, it is better than the original Raymond Burr version. It was also the start of the distinctly Japanese monster flick, which had a very different sensibility than the more triumphant American ones.

Recommended as a fun bit of film history. I can't say I will watch it often, but it is a nice addition to our collection.』

('Gojira' a classic)
『I enjoyed this movie when I was a kid, but since then I have heard so many negative reviews from other people I just assumed that I liked it just because I was a kid. A couple of weeks ago I decided to rent it to find out for myself. I rented the 'Gojira' version which is based on the original theatrical release. I ended up enjoying it greatly. I realized that this was made in 1954 when Japan was still rebuilding and Toho didn't have the resources to raise the technological bar for movie production. But, I thought the special effects were reasonable. The part I enjoyed most was the plot and the moral debates; this was obviously a protest movie.

Protest movies can be beneficial for a democratic society if they contain depth and are intellectually sound. The problem with protest movies comes when they are biased and purposely misconstrue facts to support the producers argument. I believe this was a good protest movie with sound logic.』

(The Only version and the best!!!)
『I saw this film in 2004, and after seeing it, I asked the the theater crew when it would be released. I was exposed to the American "butchered version" with Raymond Burr. No more, the original "rules" plain, simple and awesome in every way. As soon as I learned it was going to be released, I pre ordered my copy. Momoko Kochi, and all have made me feel in heaven in watching the "original and best" Many thanks to Classic Media for this release. I can only say that those reading this who have not obtained a copy to do so and enjoy. What a wonderful, lasting, and perfect movie! IT RULES!
20 minutes of the original version are omitted in the American version』

(can't beat the original.)
『This dvd contains the US version and the original japanese movie. Godzilla king of the monsters is a fun film to watch. It is a movie you would watch on saturday afternoons.Ramond Burr is brought in to make this movie seem like an american one.Godzilla king of the monsters takes out much of the japanese footage replacing it with sceenes of Ramond Burr. Gojira is more of a dark bleak movie where godzilla is a simbol for the atom bomb. This dvd has intresting extras like the makeing of the godzilla suit and godzilla story development. along with audio comentaries, original trailers, and english subs for Gojira. I highly recomend this dvd. It might become your favorite godzilla movies. This is one of the few movies of the showa era of godzilla where big-g is a force of destruction.

『The first of the Godzilla movies, and the most somber and serious in tone,Gojirowas originally a 98-minute Japanese horror film, until a U.S. company bought the rights and reissued the film at 79 minutes, replacing sequences involving a Japanese reporter with new inserts of a dour, pipe-smoking Raymond Burr. Both versions appear together for the first time in this release from Sony Wonder.

(Horror film with a twist)
『Well paced horror film that keeps viewer in suspense. Some formula aspects to the film, but still very enjoyable to watch. Photography is excellent and the acting is, for the most part, outstanding.』

(Beautifully Visual and Entertaining)
『I have watched this movie many many times and every time I still enjoy it.

I just recently bought this newer director's cut release. It is loaded with extras and bonus scenes replaced into the film that are new and interesting to me.

Brotherhood of the Wolf is one of the first movies to deal with the French legend of the Beast of Gévaudan. Mind you, to people who have studied the Beast this is not an exact portrayal of what people said happened, but it is a very fun and beautiful film overall.

This story takes place in the French countryside during the 1760's. It has to do with a large creature that is attacking and killing people seemingly at will. This creature is rumored to be a wolf, but no matter how many wolves they hunt, the creature still attacks. Not only that, but the killing seems to be uncharacteristic of a wolf, not to mention the dead show that they were attacked by a much larger creature. Rumors fly and conspiracies mount as the royal taxidermist and naturalist is sent to investigate this beast. Along with his American Indian blood brother Mani, he searches and digs for the truth among rumors and religious fear trying to stop him the entire way. Finally in the end we learn the secrets that the beast carries with it along with the people involved in an attempt to bring down the Catholic Church with their plots.

Overall I love the story. It is complex and fun, somewhat of a stretch of reality, but it holds up well. The movie is a bit strange in that this American Indian Shaman that comes to France has some weird exotic martial arts that come forward in a few kung-fu style fight scenes. It is a bit out of place, but wonderfully directed and choreographed. The real gem of this film are the overall visuals and details. Every scene has such rich backgrounds and skies, along with some beautifully created sets in the forest. All this shadows in the look of the actual beast itself. It takes awhile into the film before you even get your first glance at it, but it is nothing but gnarly looking. Although the beast has no sense of reality in it at all, the looks or it are just down right scary. I do not think that I have seen a freaker/eye-catching baddie in a film lately, except maybe the Baby-Eater in Pan's Labyrinth.

Overall, this is one of my favorite movies to put on when I am sitting around the house and want to be entertained. It is not for everyone though. Some scenes are a violent and there is a bit of sex and nudity throughout the film, so beware. It is not intended for children. Also, as a warning, the movie is naturally in French but the DVD has an English track if you cannot stand reading subtitles.

Definitely worth the price of the DVD. I would have paid double for it, so I found it to be a steal.』

(DVD Movie)
『Everything worked out really well!

The product met my expectations and it has really been a pleasure doing business with this seller through Amazon!

Very cool movie, and very rarely do you see this DVD for sale at traditional stores.』

(dimples)
『Absolutely brilliant, there should be more movies like this. Great costumes, tremendous settings, terrific acting and an excellent story to boot. The lead actors, Le Bihan, Cassell, Bellucci and Dacascos were well chosen and helped bring out the best in this movie.』

(A VISUALLY STUNNING RE-TELLING OF A FRENCH LEGEND)
『I was not appalled by the contradictory nature of Le Bihan's character in this sumptuous, martial-arts/horror/fantasy/mystery/period-piece/romance. Perhaps I watched it a dozen times, or so because I wanted to get as piqued, and irate about it as some of the other reviewers. If so it still hasn't worked. Perhaps I'll have to watch it another dozen or so times to hate it because Vincent Cassel's Iroqouis-character seems to be using kung-fu. Being a glutton for punishment I'll probably do just that...』
『Brotherhood of the Wolf leaps into a new realm of suspense with this thrilling 2-disc Director's Cut of the international film sensation! When a mysterious beast ravages the countryside, two unlikely heroes are called in to fight the evil. And now, their battle against dark, unspeakable terror is even more gripping with a daring extended version of the film that showcases more of the breathtaking martial arts action and over four hours of in-depth bonus features. The incredible hit that took audiences and critics alike on“a wild ride” (Premiere) is back with more chilling adventure that’s sure to have pulses racing all over again.』
『If you crave an over-the-top historical kung fu-fantasy epic with a good dose of voluptuous nudity, bravura machismo, and passions so intense they verge on ridiculous, thenBrotherhood of the Wolfis your movie. Based (loosely) on an 18th-century legend, this French film follows a hunky scientist (Samuel Le Bihan, who's sort of a second-string Christopher Lambert) and his Iroquois sidekick/spiritual partner (Mark Dacascos) as they pursue a monstrous wolf ravaging the French countryside. Along the way Le Bihan gets entwined with a beautiful noblewoman (Émilie Dequenne) and a gorgeous prostitute (Monica Belluci) with secrets. The plot grows more and more incomprehensible, but the mix of torrid emotions, outrageous action sequences, and lurid titillation is really what the movie is about. Ignore the highbrow philosophizing and confused political intrigue; just enjoy the sensual images.--Bret Fetzer
