(Cheesy Movie)
『Final Destination 3 doesn't compare to part one. Part 3, seems really cheesy, by the actors expressions on their faces; and it doesn't seem as realistic as part one. The movie also seems reduntant with no creativity. The effects are great and that's about it.』

『Giddily gruesome and perversely entertaining,Final Destination 3proves, yet again, that horror franchises will thrive as long as teenagers keep finding spectacular ways to die. A stand-alone sequel to the first twoFinal Destinationthrillers, this one begins when a group of seven high-school graduates luckily escape from a deadly roller-coaster disaster, only to discover that their own deaths have been only temporarily avoided. Cute brunette Wendy (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) spots clues of impending doom in digital photos of her soon-to-be-expiring classmates, and an ill wind follows her everywhere, suggesting the presence of a supernatural force that makes her a catalyst for gory events, as each of her friends is dispatched in the order they were meant to die. Returning to give their brainchild a suspenseful, low-budget makeover, franchise creators and formerX-Fileswriters James Wong and Glen Morgan cleverly play on our collective fears (the roller coaster sequence is genuinely terrifying) with a knowing nod to violent urban legends, which explains their inclusion of the '70s hit "Love Roller Coaster" on the soundtrack when two stuck-up girlfriends pay an ill-fated visit to a tanning parlor. And that's just for starters: With Wong as director, FD3 serves up its grisly deaths with tight pacing and humor, and the cathartic carnage is discreetly edited yet gory enough to satisfy hardcore horror buffs. When morbid mayhem is this much fun, it's a safe bet that another sequel is just around the corner.--Jeff Shannon

On the DVD
As befits a horror franchise heavily invested in the idea of "fate," theFinal Destination 3disc carries a "Choose Their Fate" option. In other words, you can watch the movie with occasional choices offered; click on one of two alternatives, and see that version play out. This won't give you the power to let one character live or die; it's more like deciding whether somebody honks her horn twice in a scene, calls heads or tails on a coin flip, or pushes the thermostat to 72 degrees or 76. Not exactly life-changing, but it's kind of fun.

The bonus disc includes a 90-minute "making of" feature calledKill Shot, which covers the production of the movie in exhausting detail (honest detail, too: filmmakers James Wong and Glen Morgan are funny and blunt about the business they're in, including a section on how the original ending was scrapped in favor of a bloodier finale). It's everything you'd want to know about this movie--but who needs to know this much? A 7-minute cartoon, "It's All Around You," is an amusing meditation on bad luck and laws of probability, while a 25-minute featurette calledDead Teenager Moviespins off from Roger Ebert's theory about the rigid formula of a certain kind of horror film (Ebert weighs in on the subject himself). A few experts opine on the traditions of teenagers dying in horror films; some of them don't seem to be aware that the formula pre-dated the firstTexas Chainsaw Massacre. Audio commentaries, special effects sidebars, and trailers fill out this needlessly authoritative disc.--Robert Horton

(hahahahaha...you're kidding, right?)
『thi s, of course, is one of the worst movies of all time...my favorite part is that the chick is naked through almost the entire movie, which ultimately lowers wardrobe costs so more money could be spent ....on....what?...the script?...nah, no script...between scene changes new dialogue was written on the back of candy wrappers and distributed to the 'cast'....after a while, a way was found to save even MORE money--just have the "actors" make up the dialogue as they went along...and the fact that it was obviously shot using just one camera lets us get away from all those annoying multi-angle shots that normally saturate a real movie...if you are ultimately looking for a "movie" without absolutely NO redeeming social value, THIS IS IT!!!...btw, is there a rating LESS than 1 star??...just asking...』

(very good along the lines of last house on the left)
『I really enjoyed this movie, i am a huge movie buff horror and disturbed movies are among my favorites, I Spit On Your Grave was a really good revenge movie it is set in the 80s a women goes to a remote cabin for a get away she is raped and tortured over and over again by 4 men, she is left for dead, but does not die she vows revenge, and gets it ,in very horrorific ways, it is a great revenge movie i highly recomend this movie, along with last house on the left.』

(An Important Film)
『This film is infamous in many ways. It has what is believed to be the longest rape scene in movie history (approximately a half hour of brutally graphic violence). It also features a castration scene that caused many theater goers at the time to throw up. It has been banned in numerous countries, and most professional movie critics have labeled this film one of the worst ever. I don't agree at all.

Camille Keaton does a brilliant job playing a rape victim who ultimately gets brutal revenge against her attackers. The rapists display the worst possible male qualities and do so in a very believable way. As a male, I found this a bit nauseating. But as part of the film, it is very effective.

The directing and overall cinematography are very well done and (famously) done without a soundtrack. I believe this is a very important film within the horror genre (although it is more suspenseful than scary) and is also a significant part of film history in general.

The title and cover image for this film seem to portray the movie as a low quality "skin flick." That's not the case at all. It's extremely graphic and disturbing, but in a artistic and quality way. Just don't plan on watching it as part of family movie night at your home. I don't think anybody under the age of 18 should see this film.

Other than the cover image, the DVD presentation is well done and includes trailers, reviews, movie posters, etc.

(The pinnacle of rape/revenge)
『When a movie basically starts off with a writer retiring to a remote cabin, and one of the first things she does there on her first visit is skinny dip, you know you are watching 70s horror. When the entirety of the remaining minutes fall into the categories of gruesome rape or brutal revenge for the rape, then you know you're watching the controversial classic, I Spit on Your Grave.

Director Meir Zarchi's produced this assault on human decency in the late 70s, and it's as resonant now as it was then. Jennifer Hill (Camille Keaton) secludes herself to a small wooded Connecticut town to write her newest novel. When she attracts the attention of a few local deviants and their retarded friend, however, she ends up with a life altering experience that dwarfs any possible story she could write. When she plans her revenge, however, the story, specifically the second most disgusting bathtub scene in cinema history (the first is with a naked Kathy Bates), celebrates revenge that knows no boundaries.

From beginning to end, this movie transfixes the viewer with an indelible image of betrayal, rape, and revenge that is seared into memory. Seeing a group of four men, one of which is mentally handicapped, brutalize an innocent women multiple times - all with a harmonica performance from one of the criminals - is something that never leaves one's memory; and I'm surprised the harmonica in this movie is not compared to the infamous banjo in Deliverance.

It's quite interesting that multiple decades after this film, the Western audience has made a movement - good or bad is up for interpretation - making the type of depravity seen in the current torture porn flicks acceptable to view, even on prime time television, yet the filming of a rape is still considered taboo and unwatchable. The reluctance to air this film, despite the ever-widening audience toleration, truly displays how gruesome and memorable this groundbreaking exploitation film was when released. Zarchi explains in the commentary that this not about celebrating a crime and inspiring the sick minded. He wanted to expose the sheer disgust that should be associated with rape, to break the boundaries of tolerance, to disturb all but the sociopath. Given this film's legacy, I'd say Zarchi succeeded in his quest.

This is the pinnacle of the rape/revenge genre, and should be watched by fans of both horror and overall cinema history...just don't expect to feel good when the credits roll.』

(a good movie from the old days)
『I saw this movie when I was a child and I didnt remember it until my mother asked me to look for it. I remembered it and bought for her. we both love watching it.』
『Elite Entertainment proudly presents the next entry in the famed MILLENNIUM EDITION DVD series: Meir Zarchi s I SPIT ON YOUR GRAVE a.k.a. DAY OF THE WOMAN. Filled with the bonus materials you ve come to expect from Elite s MILLENNIUM EDITION series, this highly anticipated DVD release tells the tale of Jennifer Hills, a magazine writer from New York City who retires to a secluded cabin in the woods to write her first novel. There she is brutally assaulted, raped and left for dead by four country boys. BUT JENNIFER IS ALIVE. Emotionally destroyed, she no longer writes her novel; instead she finds herself choreographing a horrific revenge scheme to inflict punishment on her four assailants in methods such as the screen has never seen before! Originally titled DAY OF THE WOMAN, I SPIT ON YOUR GRAVE has gained a reputation over the years as an extremely graphic and violent film, as well as the most controversial film to hit the world! Now you decide for yourself: Is it really Just another exploitation film to be dismissed as some film critics assert, or is it, as other critics proclaim, Truly a masterpiece of cinema.』
『Writer-director Meir Zarchi's controversial story of rape and revenge has lost none of its ability to shock viewers since it first gained notoriety in the late '70s. Camille Keaton (grand-niece of Buster Keaton and, later, Zarchi's wife) stars as a young woman who is terrorized and then brutally assaulted by four men while on vacation. After slowly pulling herself together, she methodically tracks down and butchers each of the perpetrators. Zarchi's film has been consistently accused of celebrating violence against women, and while the rape scenes are graphic, they also lack the voyeuristic qualities that earmark other similarly plotted exploitation films. If anything, Zarchi is guilty of awkward scripting; the dialogue is leaden, and Keaton's transformation from victim to avenger is too swift. But to label him a pornographer is wrong, and while the film is challenging--perhaps more than most audiences can bear--its depiction of the psychology of violence is undeniably powerful.--Paul Gaita

(One Of The Best True Stories I Ever Saw)
『I just ordered this movie from amazon cause I read the reviews and it sounded like a movie I would like, and it is great.
Made in 72 its a story of this creature that lives in the boggy creek of Fouke Arkansas. Knowbody knows what this creature is. They only know of the creepy, horrifying noise that it makes. Almost everyone that lives near the creek has seen this bigfoot like monster. The thing I really like about this movie is that it is based on a true story.
If you like true stories or legends of monsters, you should pick this one up. The sellers are selling the movie so cheap to. Pick it up at amazon』

『I first saw this movie in theaters as a child and to this day won't set my sofa in front of a window. While a little corny now compared to other high-tech movies, I still get creeped out by strange sounds from the woods behind my house. If you saw this years ago, its fun watching again.』

(The Legend of Faux Doc Horror begins here)
『If you're a fan of faux doc horror films, such as "Paranormal Activity", "The Blair Witch Project" or "The Last Broadcast", then you must see the godfather of faux doc horror with this early 1907's classic about the Fouke Monster, a Sasquatch type beast. Although it may not make you jump as much, it is creepy in parts and interesting for the film is set in the swamp lands of Arkansas, which provides a time piece of American culture. If you liked "The Blair Witch Project" you will appreciate "The Legend of Boggy Creek." The film can be especially eerie, for late nights alone.』

(great concept with uneven execution)
『The whole concept here is golden. Take the myth of the vagina dentata and everything related to it, add some teens trying to remain pure but failing, oblivious parents, a horny stepbrother who objectifies all women, and a girl who does not yet realize the implications of what lies inside of her--though she learns fast.

This is a very dark comedy that was mis-marketed as a horror film. That's part of the problem. Also, there are some slow parts that could have been filled up better, there should have been more dialogue, and the character development is sketchy at best.

Still, it is certainly worth a look for what works.

(Plot not dentata)
『A promising concept spirals into cliché melodrama, when Dawn O'Keefe discovers that her vagina has teeth. Occasionally funny and thoroughly crude, the overall delivery just came across superficial and powerless.』

(Insert Vajayjay Reference Here)
『Once every few decades, there comes a movie that you have to love. No, I don't mean that it's such a good film that saying it's a bad movie will destroy all your credibility of a film critic or "that guy at the bar that knows everything about movies." I mean, you have to love this movie for fear of being labeled a sexist, or racist, or a fascist because it is such great social commentary.

Just think, if Thelma and Louise had Cameron Diaz and Tori Spelling as the lead roles, the story-line still would have called for recognition, and anyone who thought it was bad would be labeled an instant "woman-hater." In horror, the movie "you had to love" not too long ago was Ginger Snaps. Why? Because someone thought of the already rehashed idea of using the menstrual cycle in comparison to lunar cycles and threw a werewolf story into it? Didn't they already do that horribly in An American Werewolf in Paris? But if you say anything bad about Ginger Snaps, you aren't "sympathetic to the plight of women."(Yes, an actual quote from someone on an online message board.) What about that smorgasbord of a film Crash? I happen to like that movie, but there were plenty of annoying plot jerks that I'm sure a few people in the world didn't care for it. Does that mean they're racist? No.

Which brings us to today's sociological experiment of a film, Teeth, directed by Mitchell Lichtenstein. The plot of this movie is simple: We have a film sequence of a soon-to-be happy family of two broken families, with a step-brother and step-sister playing in the pool underneath a view of a nuclear power plant. The children play "doctor," and the boy's finger is cut by an unknown source. Ooooooh, the suspense.

Present day: a teenaged girl, Dawn(played by Jess Weixler), proudly struts her virginity, and is the spokes-person for some fanatical anti-sex group that advocates no sex before marriage. Yes, they wear little rubber-band rings as their "promise" not to have unclean thoughts, because they're married to Jesus or something.

Enter Tobey(played by Hale Appleman), who is supposed to be some stand-up Christian boy. To me it looks like he decided to follow Dawn around, and B.S. her about how he's saving himself for marriage and such to get in her pants. So Dawn and Tobey begin "dating," which means holding hands, blushing when Tobey gives Dawn a peck on the cheek, and swimming in one-piece bathing suits. Hows 1950's-ish. Finally, Tobey has enough of his whole "no sex" lie, and attempts to rape Dawn. The attempt ends with Tobey screaming, Dawn screaming, Tobey disappearing, and a great shot of Tobey's severed penis on the ground. Uh-ooooh, seems like Dawn has a little problem. No WONDER she was a no-sex advocate.

Dawn becomes depressed, and reads all about the legend of the vagina dentata. She goes to visit a gynaecologist about this, Dr. Godfrey(played by Josh Pais). The gynaecologist turns out to be male and, of course, a pedophile, which is o-k since he gets his. His fingers are cut off by Dawn's va-jay-jay, and she runs away.

Dawn goes home and finds her Mom half-dead on the floor, and her step-brother banging his girlfriend.(Side note: he's scared of the va-jay-jay). She runs off, into the arms of some guy named Ryan. He drugs her up, and they have sex, safely! The next morning they are about to bump skins again, but Ryan does bad by answering the phone while they're going at it and it turns out Ryan was trying to sleep with Dawn on a bet, so Dawn's hoo-hah has another snack.

Dawn becomes comfortable being some sort of super-heroine, and decides to go after her brother Brad. Apparently Brad only likes anal sex with women, but Dawn coerces him to have normal intercourse, which ends with Brad bleeding all over the place and his dog chewing on his severed penis. I'm sorry for the long synopsis, but I felt it was necessary, since one of my problems with this film was plot structure. I forgot that it wasn't A-B-C simple.

Portrayed as a horror/black comedy, the film Teeth works on a few levels. The idea of sex as a weapon, as much as it has been done, is always great for a few laughs if done correctly. Yes, in this instance correctly could mean having a penis-eating vagina. I can even look past Tobey hounding after Dawn, and never really being abstinent. The abstinence club itself is ridiculous, in the comical way, not the annoying way.

The penis shots were the only visually horrific spots of the movie. It wasn't done as a pornographic depiction. They were more like props, especially since they were not attached to their hosts, ever(visually).

So what is it about this movie that irks me? The story is a bit slow for a horror movie. This can be problematic to some viewers. Normal horror aficionados want a lot of blood and gore, and this movie doesn't deliver too much. At the same time, the gore that is there may disgust drama and black comedy buffs. This movie is good, but inconsistent with itself. It's not a good genre jumper, like Shaun of the Dead or Severance. I think it may end up alienating more genre followers than entertaining.

The biggest problem I have with this movie is minor, but detracts from the film in a major way. Each part of the movie, introduction, Act 1, Act 2, and Climax, are bookmarked by these stupid-looking smoke-stacks from, we're guessing, a nuclear power plant. I don't like things sketched out this precise, especially when it has nothing to do with the story. There is no mad scientist at the plant trying to create the perfect woman, or penis and vagina monsters. If you want to say "Hey look, nuclear pollution created Dawn's hoo-hah demon!" then say it once, and be done with it. If the viewer is intelligent enough to swim through your muddled storyline, I'm sure they can figure out your "Nucleer Powr Iz BADD" premise.』

(It's true--vagina dentata!)
『A wonderful mixture of camp, message, horror and gore. It's simultaneously horrific and hilarious. Shame it is out of print now, but I do recommend getting a used copy or the digial version.

Also manages to straddle to have a feminist message among the campy horror without going too far. For some, that is--not for the faint of heart.』

(Teeth... entering triumphantly leaving diminished)
『Teeth: 5 out of 10: This is the second [...] dentata film I have seen; it is unfortunately the lesser effort. This despite tremendous guerilla marketing campaign that could make one think this is the first cinematic foray into such a taboo subject let alone the greatest horror film since Sliced: The Baker of Bread.

The film spends its first half an hour on a lightweight parody of the Teen Chastity movement complete with the wearing of red rings to show that they are pledged virgins. In a creepy post release twist, the chastity group is called Promise and uses something that resembles the Obama presidential red O as its symbol. I am not sure this is what the Obama campaign had in mind.

After a half an hour of jabs at the religious right and nuclear power, (Cooling towers are ominously and unscientifically billowing black smoke behind our protagonists house.) The film segues into the feminist revenge film we all paid good money for.

Needless to say, hormones being what they are, the dentata enabled virgin (Jess Weixler) finds herself getting hot and heavy with her born again virgin boyfriend (Hale Appleman). When he takes her no to mean yes and attempts to date rape her... well her teeth go to work and Appleman finds himself short one manhood.

Do remember that film when the guy loves the girl and she betrays him so he cuts her [...] with a broken beer bottle, killing her, and the audience cheers him on? No? I dont either. Because they never made that film... and if they did, audiences would burn down the theater. Welcome to the double standard. And dont get me wrong, I approve of this particular double standard in theory, but the misandry of this film is overwhelming. Add in some unsubtle homosexual subtext (and gratuitous male nudity both membered and dismembered) and one gets the idea that the film is against heterosexual intercourse in general. This ironically gives it the same moral compass as the Chastity Group it mocks. This is simply forced chastity from the other side.

The problem is poor direction by Mitchell Lichtenstein. His tone is all over the place and sloppy. If he wants his protagonist to seek out lovers then kill them for imagined slights (as she does later in the film) shouldnt the film reflect this change from victim to predator?

Director Lichtenstein also wastes a tremendous performance by John Hensley as Weixlers older, evil brother. Hensley creates a character of true banal evil. A stupid selfish bad guy that feels like a very real person. His scenes are the best in the film, yet the climatic denouement is simply more of the same and honestly does not feel true to the character. (This would have been a perfect time for the film to put in a twist such as incestuous [...] sex.)

The films performances are overall quite good with Jess Weixler and Hensley as the standouts. The film is also extremely graphic with various male gentalia being sliced and gaping bloody wounds in the crotch area. (Not for nothing but would not a male member lose its erection if severed?)

Unfortunately, Teeth, much like that recent killer baby flick Grace, ends where it should have begun. If you want to see a Vagina Dentata film done right, take a gander at Angst (Or Penetration Angst, as it is known overseas.). Fiona Horsey brings a certain je ne sais quoi to the art of dismembering men that an American virgin just cannot compete with.』

『Dawn (Sundance award winner Jess Weixler) is a pretty but prim high school virgin who unknowingly has a set of mutant teeth between her legs. When a supposedly likeminded boyfriend forces himself upon her, Dawn's vagina dentata start chomping -- which is just the beginning of "the most twisted story of female empowerment ever told" (DreadCentral.com).』
『A coming-of-age tale with a twist,Teethtakes a novel approach towards teen sexual angst. Sunny blonde Dawn (Jess Weixler, a Meryl Streep in the making) promotes abstinence at her high school. Her mother (Vivienne Benesch) is terminally ill, her half-brother (Nip/Tuck's John Hensley) is a tattooed sociopath, and her stepfather (Lenny von Dohlen) does what he can to keep the household together. When Dawn meets doe-eyed transfer student Tobey (Hale Appleman), her celibacy vow is put to the test. Simultaneously, she starts to realize her anatomy differs from other girls. Though Dawn's Austin environs recall the serene suburbs ofDonnie Darko--except for the ominous smokestacks behind the family's ranch house--her secret power brings her closer in line withCarrie. It's a particularlyfemininecapability. When Carrie felt threatened, she used her mind as a weapon. In Dawn's case, a certain physical anomaly comes into play: the vagina dentata of ancient mythology (Camille Paglia, author ofSexual Personae, served as a consultant on the film). At first, Dawn has no control over the situation and, like De Palma's anti-heroine, she's horrified. But actor-turned-director Mitchell Lichtenstein (Ang Lee’sThe Wedding Banquet), son of artist Roy Lichtenstein, ends his debut on a very different note. Along the way, there's satiric humor, squirm-inducing gore, and a star-making turn from Weixler, recipient of a special prize at Sundance for her "jaw-dropping performance."Teethis neither anti-male nor anti-female--as some detractors have claimed--but it's definitely not for the squeamish or irony-impaired.--Kathleen C. Fennessy

(Hollywood's Weird Fascination With Inbred Cannibals)
『I just saw this movie for the first time tonight and it was awful. Unlike the original inbred cannibal movie Texas Chainsaw Massacre (TCM), Wrong Turn is just generic and boring. Actually kind of comical at times which I don't think was the intention of the director. But more disturbing is this bizarre Hollywood fascination with inbred cannibal movies the past six years or so. Frankly while I have only seen two of them (Wrong Turn and The Hills Have Eyes remake) they both sucked compared to the grand daddy of them all, TCM. Of course the TCM remake was even worse than Wrong Turn and Hills, but that is for another review.

The deformed inbred cannibal thing has worn out its welcome. Actually I think it should have ended with TCM and the original Hills Have Eyes. The only reason I could think of recommending this movie is to watch the beautiful Eliza Dushku parade around in a skimpy half-top t-shirt with her beautiful "assets" on full display (as seen on the DVD cover). Boring, unoriginal, and not a scare to be found, avoid Wrong Turn at all costs unless you are as obsessed with deformed inbred cannibals as Hollywood is.』

『Taking you deep into the West Virginia wilderness , director Rob Schmidt's vision of 70's style horror may not be startlingly original, but following a familiar path, Wrong Turn (2003) is a shocking and effective thriller, that contrary to the title, makes very few missteps.

Trying to avoid gridlocked traffic, Chris Flynn (Desmond Harrington) detours down a back road and rams his classic Mustang into a SUV, stranded in the middle of the road. The occupants, a party of five young friends are shaken, but unhurt. Flynn along with Jessie (Eliza Dushku), Scott (Jeremy Sisto), and his fiancé Carly (Emmanuelle Chriqui), head off looking for help, leaving Francine (Lindy Booth), and boyfriend Evan (Kevin Zegers) behind. As you might expect, it is not too long before some seriously bad things start to happen, as the terrified group encounters a group of grotesque mountain men, deformedby generations of inbreeding, for whom homicide is a way of life.

Making a break into the woods, the group is pursued by the freaks, who have deadly skills will a variety of weapons. The ensuing chase is highlighted by a suspenseful confrontation, high in the forest treetops, that features a jaw dropping kill. There isn't much down time as the film proceeds to a fiery finale. The mountain men are ferocious fighters, and die very hard. Created by the team of special effects genius Stan Winston (Terminator 2, Predator, Jurassic Park), the three principal freaks are designated according to their appearance, as One-Eye, Three Finger, and Saw-Tooth.

Wrong Turn takes a while to get going, but once things break open, the story flows pretty smoothly, with good pacing that provides shocks and thrills, all the way to the end. Accepting killer mountain men, is the major roadblock, in what is otherwise a pretty credible tale, that features some rather memorable kills. The acting is solid, and the story moves forward without being sidetracked or slowed by insipid dialog, or extraneous scenes.

This edition has been out for a while, and is a pretty solid package. The dual sided disc contains fullscreen and widescreen versions of the film, with various extra features spread on each side. A commentary track with Rob Schmidt, Eliza Dushku, and Desmond Harrington is available on both versions. The extras include featurettes on the late Stan Winston, Eliza Dushku, and the film's special effects. Wrong Turn is highly recommended to fans of the backwoods horror genre.』

("Horror At Its Absolute Best")
『I first discovered "Wrong Turn" when I was scanning through my TV late one night and saw it on a movie channel. I had never heard of it but read the info on my television guide and decided to give it a try. I am a sucker for a good scary film and I was not at all disappointed by "Wrong Turn". The film is about a bunch of young people in their early twenties whose car breaks down in the backwoods on a long deserted stretch of an abandoned road in West Virginia. What happens to them as the movie unfolds is horrific as these people come in contact with a bunch of in-breeders who feed off human beings. The scenes are excellently directed and acted, the action is bone-chilling, and the suspence of it all will leave you breathless. If your a fan of films like "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre", "Wrong Turn" will not let you down. This film, which was a huge boxoffice hit, was followed by "Wrong Turn 2" that was released directly to DVD. Also, just in time for Halloween, "Wrong Turn 3-Left For Dead" arrives in DVD stores in October, 2009. This particular DVD version of "Wrong Turn" features both the widescreen and full screen editions of the movie as well as many bonuses. There is commentary by director Rob Schmidt and its stars Desmond Harrington and Eliza Dushku, 4 featurettes are included on the making of the film, and much more.』

(Avoid this Blu-Ray)
『I enjoyed the film Wrong Turn. However, Wrong Turn on Blu-Ray is a big disappointment. The picture quality is pretty awful. The image is soft and fine detail is pretty much non-existent. This is a bad transfer. The sequel Wrong Turn 2 suffers from the same subpar picture quality on Blu-Ray. Avoid both films. Stick with the original DVD editions if you already have them. The audio is decent with a lossless audio track not found on the DVD version, but the picture quality is unacceptable. I've seen films made 30 years ago that look spectacular on Blu-Ray. This is a crappy high definition release. Be warned.』

(Pretty good movie - BAD PQ)
『This is not that old a film. The Transfer should be way better then this. It is very soft almost none of the detail that you expect from Blu ray. Is this the fault of DNR gone crazy??? The sound is awsome and the film itself is a fun little throwback to the horror films of the 70's. But man the picture quality sucks!』
『An indescribable nightmare begins when a group of young friends is stranded on an isolated road deep in the Appalachian hills of West Virginia, with no hope of rescue. Desperate and fearing for their lives, the horror surges as they find themselves relentlessly pursued by a force of evil beyond their imagination! Featuring a hip ensemble of up-and-coming young stars, this blood-curdling epic is a shock-a-minute horror rush that will leave you screaming for more!』
『Sultry Eliza Dushku runs for her life in a snug white tanktop, pursued by inbred backwoods cannibals inWrong Turn. Dushku (Bring It On,Buffy the Vampire Slayer) and a clump of other attractive young people (includingSix Feet Under's Jeremy Sisto and Desmond Harrington ofWe Were Soldiers) get waylaid in the deep West Virginia wilds by a trio of grotesque mountain men, all given realistic ugliness by makeup artist Stan Winston (Interview with the Vampire,Terminator 2).Wrong Turnis the sort of movie where you know who's going to die by the order they appear in the credits, but fans of the inbred backwoods cannibals genre (The Texas Chainsaw Massacre,The Hills Have Eyes) will find much to savor, particularly the scene in which Dushku and Harrington are trapped under a squalid bed while the inbred backwoods cannibals prepare one of their friends for dinner. (Spawnee me no likee)
『Great if you like random special effects that almost lead to nowhere, overblown production, alot of noise, and a bothersome unfunny clown that laughs at his own clueless jokes. One sickening pizza scene will make you think twice about when to eat when you decide to watch this movie. Even the dialogue seems forced. Spawn fans may be ultimately forgiving, one way or the other.』

(Back from Hell)

This is one of the most popular of the Afro-American comic book anti-heros. He is an ex-green beret type who leaves the service to work for a CIA type organization as an hit-man. Unfortunately his boss has delusions of power and grandure. He wants to quit, but his boss decides to liquidate him instead.the devil gets involved as he wants Spawn to lead an attack on Heaven. Of course then there is Spawn's wife and daughter and the fact that 5 years have past since he was sent to hell. There is also a diabolical clown involved and a beautiful female assisian.

Todd McFarlin, the creator of Spawn, is also heavily involved in the movie.』

(This movie makes Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles look like Schinlder's List.)
『I had always had a weird curiosity about this movie but I didn't even remember it existed until recently when a friend mentioned it during a discussion. He basically told me it was one of the worst movies he had ever seen and it peaked my interest even more because it didn't look THAT bad from the previews I remembered.

The story/screenplay is laughable at best. The premise is cool and I know the actual comic book is much moe brutal and unrelenting(which is why this movie seemed like it had some hope, at least). The writers did a lot more telling than showing, however, and scenes like Spawn's "training" with Mr. old-guy-always-appearing-out-of-thin-air is just plain ridiculous. It took Luke years to gain even rudimentary knowledge of the Force in Star Wars and yet Spawn seems to learn how to use any ability he wants when a guy tells him that he has "trillions of nerves" he can control. Give me a break. Not only is this just plain bad writing, but the director doesn't even pass it off well by giving it at least some kind of weight. The scene takes all of a minute to develope and by the end Spawn is able to control more abilities than god just by "thinking" of performing the action. Awesome.

The actors are likewise a travesty. The guy who plays Spawn doesn't have a fully-developed acting bone in his body. Gritting your teeth and talking like you're a badd-arse from the streets of south-side Chicago doesn't constitute believability. Martin Sheene makes his son Charlie look like the best actor in Hollywood, but I don't really blame him. I'm sure the director told him to camp up his performance so as to appear like a sadistic madman. The problem is that nothing is developed with his character. He just starts out at "madman" and end's at "madman." The whole "Spawn fights for his gf" bologny is just as stupid. We never see them together and don't get any chance to inest feelings of compassion in either character. We just see a few flashbacks showing his laughable moments of closeness between Spawn and his cardboard gf. The Clown form of Violator was obnoxious and not even slightly funny. He goes from making harmless jokes that are PG-13 to R within the same sentence as well, which makes no sense. If he is going to be lude, make him lude the whole movie. If he is making jokes like Bob Saget, then let him do so for the whole movie. Mixing and matching just made no sense, as if he didn't want to offend poor Spawn. I don't know where to even begin on the other actors.

The story was terrible. I don't know if it follows the comicbook all that closelly, but I would certainly hope not. Even something like Batman or the X-men often gives a lot of good writing and useful sections that help see the true character of the heroes. Granted, comicbooks offer didactic "good vs. evil" montages, but they're generally done quite well. The whole scheme to get Spawn to command the armies of Hell wasn't needed. They could have easily made him do it from the get-go, before he decided to fight for "good". I know they needed some kind of plot, but there are much better ways to try and bring these characters together.

I was expecting some cool fight scenes at the very least. Violator is a great villian with a lot of potential, as are all of McFarlane's creations, the problem is that he is terribly portrayed yet again. He just runs around grabbing people instead of outright destroying them. He wouldn't toy with his victims by batting them around. Just freakin eat them or smash their faces in. Not only that, but how the heck does something that big and loud "hide" from Spawn on more than one occasion? Honestly. One chase scene doesn't even serve a purpose in the film other than to oblige action film fans who seem to think it's mandatory. Couldn't Spawn just fly around instead of riding a motorcycle? *sigh*

The effects for Violator and Spawn's chains/cape were pretty well done for 1997, I will say, but thats unfortunatelly the best part of the whole movie and that's not saying much. The effects usesd to create Hell were also poorly done. It looks more like a big red backdrop that someone threw a bag of Cheetos all over, it was not intimidating in any way(again, I think this was a poor choice by screenwriter/director to even include this setting when cg effects clearly weren't going to cut it in 1997).

It's not the worst movie I've ever seen, but it is certainly up there. From the terrible acting to the horrendous script to the poorly constructed "motivation" behind anyones actions, it's just a very bad film. I would hope that someone has the courage at some point soon to renew the interest in the franchise by making a legitimate film with todays technology. The most important part of any film to this day is still a great screenplay, however, and until we get that, this superhero has no hope. I only recommend this to filmmakers who wish to use it as a reference point for what NOT to do or avid fans of the comicbook.』

(Spawn movie = bad)

There was so much material they could have used. They could have used the comics, taken the dialogue straight from the comics. They could have developed the villains better. They could have created interesting action sequences. Instead of bad computer graphics, they could have put men in rubber monster suits. It would have looked better.

I don't know. It just seems that there was a lot of money poured into this film, and though they tried to use new technologies to make it look good, it just didn't go down well. The dialogue is horrible, the acting isn't very convincing (even for a superhero movie) and in some cases just obnoxious, and the action sequences are just not very interesting.

Read the comic, but don't see the movie.』

(Spawn)
『I went to the movies to see Spawn back in 1997 and I loved it. This is one of my favorite movies and I would recommend this movie to anyone.』
『IMAGINE A CREATURE ON THE VERGE OF CREATION. A CREATURE WHO MUST COME OUT OF THE DARK AND INTO THE LIGHT TO FIGHT FOR JUSTICE AND VENGEANCE. FROM FLESH TO STEEL. FROM BLOOD TO BLADE. FROM MAN TO SPAWN. TODD MCFARLANE'S COMIC BOOK SENSATION COMES TO LIFE IN THIS LIVE ACTION FILM. STUNNING SPECIAL EFFECTS IN THIS FILM.』
『After being murdered for quitting his role as a ruthless yet moral government assassin, Al Simmons (Michael Jai White) is sent to Hell, where he makes a pact with the demon Malebolgia--if Simmons is allowed see his lover, Wanda, again, he will agree to lead the demon's armies to storm the gates of Heaven. Transformed into a superhuman entity with shape-shifting powers and quick regeneration capabilities, Simmons (soon to be dubbed "Spawn" by Malebolgia's crony, The Violator) returns to Earth and attempts to reunite with Wanda, not knowing that five years have passed. He also seeks revenge on his former boss and killer, Jason Wynn (Martin Sheen), who has made a deal with The Violator to develop a lethal virus to take over the world, where Wynn is promised to be king.

Spawn wages an inner battle between good and evil as he tries to come to terms with selling his soul and what it could mean for humankind. Despite excellent effects and great potential,Spawnseems to come up short. While White certainly displays verve in his characterization of the twisted hero, he cannot overcome some forced dialogue. On the flip side, the usually engaging John Leguizamo portrays the sinister Violator--an evil monster masquerading as a rotund, weird-looking clown--as an irritating lackey who spews overbearing sarcasm and incessantly banal one-liners. Admitted, many ofSpawn's action sequences are fun, and the transitions effectively brisk, but more could have been done to explore how Simmons grapples with his humanity in these daunting circumstances. But if you want sizzling action sequences and digital effects, this film should keep you happy.--Bryan Reesman

(A very good little witchy movie!)
『Although I've owned this movie for a few years now, it continues to be one of my favorites. Sure, it may be geared more towards teenagers, but I still love it. Basically, three teenage witches entice a new student into their circle and turn on her in the end, but I won't spoil the very ending for anybody who hasn't see this movie. Whether you are a teen, or a teen at heart, if you have even the slightest interest in Witchcraft, you will enjoy this film. I give it two thumbs up and five stars.』

(great.)
『I love witch movies. this one was exciting, and scary and cruel and it was the latter that bothered me most. but a totally worthwhile movie. glad i bought it. the DVD case does come with much less plastic than you'd expect, it seems they're on some plastic reducing kick. you'll notice this in other DVDs as well.』

(Lame)
『This isn't a horror movie although it claims itself to be. It's more like an epsiode of Dawson's Creek with Samantha from Bewitched thrown in. If you like real horror movies, run from this one. Seriously! Tom C.』

(love this movie)
『I own copies of "The Craft" on VHS&DVD, and I swear to God I love it. I have not seen it in like forever, but may do so tonight. When I first saw "The Craft", it seriously got me interested in witchcraft and that is something that I am not afraid to admit.』

(Mystick Realistick Teen Flick Fusion BD OK)
『After repeated viewings, Craft retains power and interest. Two DVDs and the BD; I should be bored; but it plays to stay. Medium power film has roots and style a'plenty with weird ways mixed with mundane. Great Playlist and a ride. BD has DTS power and great pic (soft by nature)』
『WHEN FOUR TEENAGE OUTCASTS BECOME EXPERTS IN THE ANCIENT ARTS OFWITCHCRAFT, THEY SEEK REVENGE ON THOSE WHO SLIGHTED THEM IN THE PAST.』
『IfBuffy the Vampire Slayerrepresents the lighter side of high school as a macabre experience, here's a movie that asks the burning question, "What happens when angst-ridden teenagers develop supernatural powers?" More to the point, how do four outcast teenaged witches handle their ability to cast wicked spells on the taunting classmates who've nicknamed them "The Bitches of Eastwick"? The answer, of course, is "don't get mad, get even." That's about all there is to this terminally silly movie, which makes up for its ludicrous plot by letting its young female cast have a field day as they indulge their dark fantasies. Fairuza Balk is enjoyable as the most wicked of the witches, and is therefore the focus of the film's most dazzling special effects. But it's Neve Campbell from television'sParty of Fivewho made this film a modest box-office hit, just before she became her generation's fright-movie favorite inScreamand its popular sequel.--Jeff Shannon

(Another Childhood Favorite!!!)
『As a child, I was scared of this movie because of the troll, Trantor looked scary. Now, I love it because it has Ernest, has a great storyline, and it takes place on Halloween, and I personally love Halloween!!! Ernest helps Kenny, Joey, and Elizabeth build a tree house. However, the troll is buried under the tree and Ernest accidentally wakes him up. Throughout the movie, Ernest tries to defeat Trantor with 'Troll fighting technology' and Miss Hackmore. Ernest finally figures out how to kill the troll. Trantor needs five children to awaken his troll children army. Kenny and his friends go to the grocery store and buy the supplies in order to kill Trantor. Ernest and Kenny fight the trolls at the tree house with all the townspeople there. When all the trolls die, Trantor asks the evil demons of the tree to make him stronger. If you love Halloween and Ernest, you'll love ERNEST SCARED STUPID!!!

(Spooky fun for everyone!)
『Ernest protects the whole town from an invasion of trolls in this movie. I've loved it since I was a kid and watch it again every year. It always makes me smile and I'm always glad I pulled it out to watch again. Slapstick, good-hearted and ultimately with a nice message as well. Hope you all enjoy this movie!』

(A must have for Ernest fans)
『While I have heard several people complain about how "stupid" the movies are, I have to say that that is what Ernest is all about. Jim Varney, one of the best comedians of our time, bless his soul, captures Ernest in a way that makes you fall in love with the character. My kids love all of the Ernest movies. Jim Varney (d. Feb. 2000), you are sorely missed! As a huge Ernest fan, this was a must for my collection. Good DVD quality.』

(Good fun, silly, well produced)
『This movie is good because it has Jim Varney in it. I would not rate it a 5-star or even 4-stars because it just doesn't rise to that level, but nevertheless it is a good, funny film with a cheap monster-movie quality to it that is appealing. Jim Varney made funnier films in his day than this, but if you love Ernest, don't miss this one. Ertha Kitt plays a crazy old lady in this somewhat memorable performance. 3.5 stars.』

(Once Afraid, Now Amused)
『This is a great movie! I used to be very afraid of this film, though, and I remember watching it when I was younger and having nightmares about it. But now it's a good movie. Very funny, and I think more people need to learn about this, as well as all other Ernest movies.』
『Everybody's favorite know-it-all, Ernest P. Worrell, scares up heaps of hilarious laughs in this frightfully funny comedy! The loveable lunkhead is in for a devil of a time when he accidentally unleashes an evil demon from its sacred tomb, causing the awakened foe to go on a devastating rampage. Ernest desperately attempts to prevent the destruction of town, but a 200-year-old curse renders Ernest Scared Stupid! And that's when the fun and adventure begin! Loaded with uproarious hilarity, and a host of outrageously kooky characters, this big-screen treat delivers off-the-wall nuttiness that's sure to drive you wild any time of the year!』

(Good Movie)
『Just watched this movie and loved it. I love Miljo! The movie had me captivated the whole time.』

(The Resident Evil films are FAR From "Extinct")
『From the start, this film had me completely surrendered to it's gripping narrative, fantastic cinematography and hugely entertaining action scenes. Unlike the first two films in the franchise, "Extinction" brings the next gen gore of the video games "Resident Evil 4 and 5" to the big screen. No more fast cuts, discreet angles or dark lenses... This is a hardcore, zombie killing action-fest. Aside from this new development, the characters are all written with much more attention to characterization and emotion. There are many scenes in the film where you find yourself GENUINELY caring what happens to the characters. On top of everything I've mentioned, the musical score by Charlie Clouser WAY outclasses the previous two scores and is both effective and well produced. If I had one negative thing to say about this film it's that it ended as soon as it did!』

(Pathetic, silly acting. Especially from the 'women warriors")
『This is one of those movie series in which it becomes progressively worse with each installment. Not much I can say, but the women are atypical stereotypes of the aggressive females; long on angst and short on acting skills. Laughable plots and more laughable are the actors trying to reach out "acting". If you like sci-fi action flicks (there are boring sequences), this is pretty good. But don't ever expect Oscar performances in these movies. I guess no one really does.』

(It's Ultra Crazy Good and Suspenseful Action Horror in This Third Installment in the Resident Evil Series)
『Alice (Milla Jovovich) wanders the Nevada desert alone, flying under the radar of the Umbrella Corporation.

It's been five years since the deadly T-virus outbreak. The world is all but in shambles. Alice believes that only Alaska is the last safe place on Earth. An old journal she found with a six-month-old radio transcription told her so.

On her journey, Alice comes across a small caravan of survivors headed up by Claire (Ali Larter) that also happens to be carrying along some old friends: Slater (Matthew Marsden) and L.J. (Mike Epps).

She convinces them to head north to Alaska, and so they embark, fighting off the dead at every turn, even undead crows that have been transformed from feasting on zombie flesh.

Dr. Isaacs (Iain Glen) wants Alice back under his control as he focuses on perfecting her as a weapon against the undead. Except, once Alice catches on, she manages to disable their system of control over her and escapes with Claire and the others.

All hope lost, and having been bitten by one of the dead himself, Dr. Isaacs uses the antivirus on himself . . . but in a different way, creating a result neither he nor Alice expected.

It's ultra crazy good and suspenseful action horror in this third installment in the Resident Evil series.

Wow. I mean, man oh man, I love this movie. So, so good. I'm a sucker for roadside horror and sleepy towns. This movie has both. The zombies? Pure gruesome since most of them have been rotting for five years as they wander around devouring the rest of the living.

The zombie crows were a nice touch. So, so many of them. Swarms. That's the thing I always tell people about zombies. One zombie's not so bad. Get a whole mess of them together and they're scary as all get out. Same for zombie crows. There was enough here to turn the sky black. Freaky.

The development of Alice's powers was cool and though her telekinesis might seem kind of outlandish to some, it's portrayed well here and done with the utmost serious and not used as a cop-out to get her out of a jam.

I felt bad for her as well when she saw all those clones of herself rotting out in the desert sun. That'd be heartbreaking, upsetting and angering for anyone. I'm glad she gave Dr. Isaacs his due.

The ending raises a ton of questions for the forthcoming Resident Evil: Afterlife. I'm eager to see how they deal with that army of Alices without it coming off goofy or repetitive.

This movie's score was also spectacular, the hard beat of the drums and dark, raunchy guitar giving it a very awesome grittiness that adds to the whole post-apocalyptic feel.

Check this flick out. It's hardcore, loaded with gore and just down right fantastic.

Recommended.

(Starts becoming less a zombie film and more a B-grade magic show)
『Resident evil originated from a survival horror video game, where unlike a first person shooter, the emphasis was on conservation of ammo, and puzzle solving.

As the series progressed, say by RE Code Veronica, the creature designs got more and more interesting and the plots more enveloping.

So did this translate to the last movie adaption?

Instead we get a bizarre decision to make our main character Mila (who is hot at least) to develop increasingly powerful psychic abilities. Abilities that allow her to essentially destroy any number of baddies with a grimace.

You don't need to have a literary degree to know that giving your good guy all the superpowers doesn't make for good movie watching.

『Milla Jovovich is back in the third chapter of the hugely successfulResident Evilfranchise! This action-packed horror film is set in the Nevada desert and filled with intense special effects and more zombie terror! Las Vegas means fun in the sun. Well, at least the sun is still there. Except for a few rusting landmarks, it looks pretty much like the rest of the desert - or the whole country, for that matter. The crowds are now flesh-eating zombies: the mass undead, the oozing, terrifying sludge of what remains. Here, the newly upgraded Alice, along with her crew (Oded Fehr, Mike Epps, Ali Larter, Ashanti) will make a final stand against evil - with one goal: to turn the undead dead again.

(Excellent, for those who can get their hands on the proper version!)
『As long as you receive the right DVD, it's certainly worth the money, and then some. The version with Digital Copy is sorely lacking in special features and anyone who has received that version should seek to get a refund and try buying through the other sellers. I finally managed to get a copy of the Special Edition through one of the other sellers and it's actually worth all the effort I had to put into getting it.』

(Really really awful)
『This is really a film for small children who haven't seen many movies. As a kid's movie, it ranks 3 stars. As a movie for an adult, it ranks as one of the worst movies I've ever seen, based on the redundancy, the slow pace, and the truly bad dialogue. A good film editor could have pared this film down to a 30 minute made-for-tv movie. It is probably best for small children (4 to 7), viewed in half-hour intervals. There is limited, mild violence. There is perhaps a single, brief, slightly sexual scene that small children can watch without harm. There is no use of profanity at all. Hagrid from the Harry Potter series is in this movie and he sports a very bad haircut.』

『I watched this so long ago, when my children were toddlers. One day I was cruising through the movie channels, and I found this old 80's movie that I had forgotten that ever existed. It was showing the scene with a very young Liam Neeson and Robbie Coltrane (Hagrid of the Harry Potter Movies) and I just sat there mezmerized all over again. I LOVE fantasy type movies, and this one I remembered from way back. IF you want Mild violence and great fun, this is the one you want to see.』

(Great treatment but misleading packaging)
『A+ For the movie itself. This cheesy film has never looked or sounded better, and that's why I wanted the DVD.

That said, this appears to be a newer edition of the DVD. Many of the extras advertised on the packages are missing entirely. Instead, it comes with just the two commentary soundtracks, a trailer for Men in Black and a DRM-laden version of the movie to play on a computer or a Sony PSP. After repeatedly digging through the menu system to find them, I popped the disc in my PC and had a look at the contents. A quick examination of the disc reveals that it does not contain the Marvel Comic presentation, the Journey to Krull video, or any photo galleries.

I'm rating the product well because I didn't buy it for the extras, but new buyers beware!』

『I love this movie and want to get it on DVD for several years. I finally have done this. It is one of my favorite movies of all times. It still looks good after all those years. I would recommend it to science fiction fans and just movie fans.』

『There's something inescapably appealing about this camp 1983Star Wars-meets-The Lord of the Ringsknockoff that encourages the viewer to overlook its many silly shortcomings and simply enjoy the fun. James Horner's rollicking music score certainly helps, as does the epic-scale CinemaScope photography of the breathtaking Italian landscapes. The costumes and extravagant production design are also great to look at, and much of Derek Meddings's visual effects work still looks striking. Freddie Jones stands head and shoulders above the rest of the cast as the wise Ynyr, while the two romantic leads, Ken Marshall as Prince Colwyn and Lysette Anthony (with an overdubbed American voice) as Princess Lyssa, are mere formalities on which to hang the plot. The all-British supporting cast includes Todd Carty, Bernard Bresslaw, Robbie Coltrane, Liam Neeson, and the gorgeous Francesca Annis. 『The third installment in the massively popular film series based on Capcom's zombie horror/science fiction games,Resident Evil: Extinctionbrings the world to an end, not with a whimper but a bang, as Milla Jovovich's Alice pits her bio-organic superskills against armies of the undead in a post-apocalyptic Las Vegas. Also on hand is a more grown-up version of the games' Claire Redfield (played byHeroes' Ali Larter), who leads a convoy of humans (among themResident Evilvets Oded Fehr and Mike Epps, who reprise their roles as Carlos and LJ, as well as newcomers Ashanti and Spencer Locke) in search of sanctuary; meanwhile, sinister Umbrella Corporation scientist Dr. Sam Isaacs (Iain Glen) seeks a cure for the zombie virus outbreak via Alice's blood, which he taps via a lab full of clones. Subtlety has never been theResident Evilseries' strong suit, but it's hard to argue againstExtinction's breakneck pace and impressive CG special effects; director Russell Mulcahy (theHighlanderseries) lends a lot of verve to the proceedings, and the script by producer Paul W.S. Anderson pulls in agreeable touches fromThe Road WarriorandDay of the Dead. A hit during the summer of 2007,Extinctionshould please series devotees and action-horror fans alike; the DVD includes commentary by Mulcahy, Anderson, and co-producer Jeremy Bolt, as well as several making-of featurettes, and a glimpse at the next entry in theResident Evilfranchise, the CG-onlyDegeneration.-- Paul Gaita
