(Not Perfect, But Deserves Full Support)
『I miss monster movies...This style of movie along with The Mummy, bring good fun back to horror movies. And while this movie isn't perfect, its intent is. A+ for courage to do something different.』

(got to get it)
『I have the movie on regular DVD, but have a playstation 3 now so all the good movies I'm getting on Blue Ray to catch the extra sound and picture quality. this movies does it all. Amazon has the best prices and with free shipping over $25 all is well. Keep up the good work Amazon.』

(Van Helsing)
『This movie had everything it held your attention from start to finish, the great thing about it was, every monster I had ever seen as a child was in this movie. No other movie has ever given us Dracula,Frankenstein, wolf Man and Mr. Hyde. It started old World and finished modern. I loved the take on James Bond gaget inventor who was not yet quite a priest and Van Helsing's guide. Your heart just went out to the Frankenstein monster. The story line was fantastic you understood what was going on the entire time . The visual effects was exciting, but i wanted Anna valeris brother who looked a lot like Errol Flynn ,to stay alive a little longer, and it would have been great if you could have seen them clearer in the clouds at the end . But as a whole this movie was spectacular.』

『Great movie and the product I recieved from Amazon was in excellent new condition. No problems enjoying my movie.』
『The director of The Mummy and The Mummy Returns brings three of Universal’s classic monsters back to life like never before in the action-packed Van Helsing! Legendary monster hunter Van Helsing (Hugh Jackman, X-Men) must rely on the help of the beautiful and mysterious Anna Valeris (Kate Beckinsale, Underworld) as he engages in an epic battle with the ultimate forcesof darkness – Dracula, the Wolf Man and Frankenstein’s Monster! Get ready for non-stop action and spectacular adventure in this pulse-pounding thrill ride loaded with eye-popping visual effects and exciting bonus features!』
『Like a roller coaster ready to fly off its rails,Van Helsingrockets to maximum velocity and never slows down. Having earned blockbuster clout withThe MummyandThe Mummy Returns, writer-director Stephen Sommers once again plunders Universal's monster vault and pulls out all the stops for this mammoth $148-million action-adventure-horror-comedy, which opens (sanscredits) with a terrific black-and-white prologue that pays homage to the Universal horror classics that inspired it. The plot pits legendary vampire hunter Van Helsing (Hugh Jackman) against Dracula (the deliciously campy Richard Roxburgh), his deadly blood-sucking brides, and the Wolfman (Will Kemp) in a two-hour parade of outstanding special effects (980 in all) that turn Sommers' juvenile plot into a triple-overtime bonus for CGI animators. In alliance with a Transylvanian princess (Kate Beckinsale) and the Frankenstein monster (Shuler Hensley), Van Helsing must prevent Dracula from hatching his bat-winged progeny, and there's so much good-humored action that you're guaranteed to be thrilledandexhausted by the time the 10-minute end-credits roll. It's loud, obnoxious, filled with revisionist horror folklore, and aimed at addicted gamers and eight-year-olds, but this colossal monster mash (including Mr. Hyde, just for kicks) will never, everbore you. A sequel is virtually guaranteed.--Jeff Shannon

(a very fun movie)
『The movie came in great shape from the seller and it plays great. The entire family loves it.』

(The Incredibles Movie)
『Thoroughly enjoy this movie with my grandson! He laughs out loud at some of the scenes and it a good story to boot! Nice family time gathering.』

(Satisfied)
『Item came in timely manor and I assume it works, I haven't watched it yet.』

(Superheroes Unplugged)
『Although it won the Oscar for Best Animated Feature (2004), am I the only one who wishes it were in the regular "Best Picture" category?

I also think this is a better movie for adults than it is for kids. That speaks not only to the violence, but the depth of story and the historical precedents as well (recalling the classic era of comic books, then fast forwarding to a sue-happy society). The pathos, too, would be lost on most young children.

Much better than Finding Nemo or Cars, this is up there with Toy Story 2 as one of Pixar's best.

(Incredibles)
『a good movie but the girls did not like it much, probably more for boys.』
『From the Academy Award(R) winning creators of FINDING NEMO (2003 Best Animated Feature Film) comes the action-packed animated adventure about the mundane and incredible lives of a house full of superheroes. Bob Parr and his wife Helen used to be among the world's greatest crime fighters, saving lives and battling evil on a daily basis. Fifteen years later, they have been forced to adopt civilian identities and retreat to the suburbs where they live "normal" lives with their three kids, Violet, Dash, and Jack-Jack. Itching to get back into action, Bob gets his chance when a mysterious communication summons him to a remote island for a top secret assignment. He soon discovers that it will take a super family effort to rescue the world from total destruction. Exploding with fun and featuring an all-new animated short film, this spectacular 2-disc collector's edition DVD is high-flying entertainment for everyone.』
『After creating the last great traditionally animated film of the 20th century,The Iron Giant, filmmaker Brad Bird joined top-drawer studio Pixar to create this exciting, completely entertaining computer-animated film. Bird gives us a family of "supers," a brood of five with special powers desperately trying to fit in with the 9-to-5 suburban lifestyle. Of course, in a more innocent world, Bob and Helen Parr were superheroes, Mr. Incredible and Elastigirl. But blasted lawsuits and public disapproval forced them and other supers to go incognito, making it even tougher for their school-age kids, the shy Violet and the aptly named Dash. When a stranger named Mirage (voiced by Elizabeth Pena) secretly recruits Bob for a potential mission, the old glory days spin in his head, even if his body is a bit too plump for his old super suit.

Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review
(Happy GITS fan, here)
『I'm happy that a new generation of viewers may get the chance to see this groundbreaking Sci-Fi/Art movie with fresh eyes. And ears. I remember putting the film's audio on a cassette tape years ago so I could listen to it at work and in my car.. it was one of the first anime I remember that had a brilliant ambient score that drenched the film in a really eerie stoic mood. The remastered Skywalker sound soundtrack and effects track are a total joy to me, the music's dynamic range is captured better than ever, and a plethora of miscellaneous background effects flesh out the action better than ever.
In nearly every scene, the colors look deeper and more genuine than the original print.. there is alot more simulated depth of field, not only from newly inserted visuals, but just from some clever color and contrast tweaks.
And NO, I have no qualms with the added CGI elements. Mamoru Oshii approved all of them, and Oshii's ever reiterated themes in the series has always been disassociation, dehumanization and the philosophy of making dolls in human form... so for this viewer, having a few scenes where Major Kusanagi is re-visualized in an even more stylized and antiseptic digital shape doesn't bother me at all. It's the whole point of her character.

The cropping that appears in some shots bothered me a little, but I get the feeling this wasn't done because it looked good, but because there wasn't another way to fix or alter color timing in the frame without it.

The collector in me would also have preferred if the original cut of the film was included on a separate disc, but at the same time, as it's just a HD rip of the original film that I've seen a bazillion times anyway, it's not a deal breaker.

I'm happy with this version.』

(There are a couple of issues but it is still worth buying for the Ghost in the Shell Fan..)
『Ahh...Ghost in the Shell. The 1995 movie based on the manga that was called by some the second coming of Akira. I can't help but agree with that. So here we are almost 15 years later and we now have a sequel, a spin-off TV show, with a TV movie and it's influence is seen in movies such as "The Matrix." Now we have GitS 2.0, which is not a sequel (though I can see why people could be misled into thinking that.) but a redone version of the first movie. The colors has been changed and some CG has been brought in to replace the old animation. Its supposed to look more like the sequel, "Innocence," but honestly it looks weird since the original movie was made 9 years before the sequel. But I'm not going to review the movie itself, I'm just going to tell you why you should buy this on Blu-Ray.

The first thing all you purists need to know, the original Ghost in the Shell is included on the disc in HD. It doesn't look that great but it looks better than the DVD for sure. Also, the transfer is not the DVD master from the 2005 re-issue simply upconverted (contrary to popular belief), it is the Blu-ray master from Japan. They didn't really clean up the film but this is pretty much the best it's ever going to look unless Bandai, Manga or Production IG want to put up the money for a full re-master.

Which brings us into the new 2.0 version. This puppy has demo worthy video. The animation has been nicely cleaned-up, the new CG pops, and the re-mixed soundtrack (which I'll get back to in a minute) can bring the house down. This is one of the best animated Blu-rays out there, up there with "Cars," "Wall-E," and "Akira." While consistency is off thanks to the new CG, new colors and old animation, but this is not the fault of the transfer.

The soundtrack for the original Japanese version has actually been thrown out the window completely. Not only are there new sound effects, but the original cast has re-recorded all their lines, with one exception: the Puppet Master. The Puppet Master was originally voiced by a man, and has now been replaced by a woman. Also the song that plays in the background during the market chase with Batou has been removed. It is such a small thing that people probably won't notice (but I brought it up for a reason).

Now, I'm going to be honest, I'm a fan of the English dub of GitS in all of its forms. When this was announced I thought for sure they would re-dub the movie with the new GitS: Stand Alone Complex cast. This is not the case. They used the original dub from 1995 for this version (So Mimi Woods is playing Motoko, not Mary Elizabeth McGlynn from the SAC dub.) with the new sound effects thrown in. Which brings us to a inconsistency because in the 2.0 version the Puppet Master is supposed to be played a female, but instead, is still played by a man, since this is literally the same dub. This isn't the only inconsistency, the song from the marketplace is now back in the movie. There some other small gripes but only the hardcore fan would notice.

Now onto the extras. They consider the old version of the movie as a extra, and it is a pretty cool extra, having both versions in HD. Then we come into a couple of weird quirks. On the box, it says there is a commentary with the director, as well as a making of feature for 2.0. What we get is a making of feature....for the original movie and a theatrical trailer...for the original. Along with come bios and glossary. The features on the box are no where to be found, which is quite a big gaff. Maybe future re-prints will correct this but as of now, the features on the box are not there. To me, it isn't a big deal, but it kind of sucks that we don't get what the box promises.

All in all this is a must buy for every GitS fan. Not only do you get the new version of this movie, you get the original in HD. That way, you get the best of both worlds. Everyone else, give this one a rental, because this is really for the fans.』

(Okay, I understand the complaints, but....)
『I can see the problems the other reviewers have written about, and I can't argue that the new CGI doesn't match the look of the old film. I got this BluRay because I love the movie, and just wanted to see it (not expecting much). But I got to tell you, I had a blast watching it. The new (or redone might be more accurate) opening scene is amazing. Even though the new visuals might not match, they are a welcome addition. It doesn't replace the original version (which is included on the disk, standard format, under special features. Note: It is not listed on cover), but it is really well done.

Most impressive, is the new 6.1 mix. They have completely re-done the sound mix, re did sound effects, and remixed levels and speaker placement. It sounds amazing. One of the best sound mixes I have ever heard on Bluray. Actually, looking for a stronger word than amazing, but can't think of the proper adjective. If you are a audiophile, this reason alone is enough to buy it. You will not be disappointed.』

(A few problems here...)
『I'm going to break this review down into two parts.

The movie itself:
This is Ghost In The Shell in HD. It's beautiful, but for a smoother translation into the look of Innocence the greenish colors of the original film have been touched up and made to be more of an amber color like that seen in second film. This isn't really a change that I mind, and it's pulled off fairly well. I assume that several scenes were cleaned up digitally because the line art looks amazingly clean.

Sadly, someone felt it would be appropriate to replace some of the most iconic and stunning animation from the original with CG. A few scenes are done well like those where the CG is only helicopters or buildings, but whenever it replaces characters with crappy looking CG models it becomes stunningly bad. If you watch the making of the original movie you can see that their limited use of computer assisted animation was carefully planned and fit in with the other artwork and improved the film. The CG in 2.0 sticks out like a sore thumb in most cases. The only CG part that I liked was the pan over the cityscape at the end of the film.

If you have a bluray player and haven't seen GitS yet 2.0 isn't a bad way to see it, but fans of the original will probably be disappointed with the lack of any significant changes and the quality of what was changed.

The bluray by Manga:

Somehow Manga Entertainment never ceases to screw something pretty major up on their releases. The box lists a commentary with Oshii, an interview with Oshii and a making of GitS 2.0. None of these features are present on the bluray. You get throw away character profiles, glossary, and the old english trailer. The original making of GitS is here in VHS quality along with the unlisted bonus feature of the original cut of the movie. When I heard that I was pretty excited because in all honesty it's the only version I truly care about, but it looks to be taken from non-HD masters and only includes 2.0 audio tracks. If memory serves me correctly I believe that my GitS DVD looks better upscaled than this version does.

It would have been nice to do a re-dub of the film with the SAC cast, but I guess most of them were in the original anyway and it's a nice dub in it's own right.

This whole release just makes me want the original film untouched in HD. I can't give this less than three stars if only because seeing this movie this way is better than not seeing it at all because it's a one of my favorite films ever, but be aware of the problems with this release before deciding to buy it.』

(Worthy remastered version - looks great on blu-ray)
『Anime and GITS fans rejoice with this must have remastered blu-ray version of the original movie. Certainly the CGI additions though good at times are a bit inconsistent in what they add overall but the remastered original animation for blu-ray is fantastic as is the audio. The spoken audio appears to be original (re-mastered I'm sure) so don't expect the flow of any scenes to change. This isn't like Evangelion: 1.01 remakes just an very strong update to the original classic Ghost in the Shell. Special features include the original version of the movie but it does seem to me a bit rough in part going straight to blu-ray. With this blu-ray edition Ghost in the Shell as perhaps regained its place (if it ever lost it) of being what all other anime is judged against. Watch it.』
『A film that has spawned a thousand imitations but never been bettered– Mamoru Oshii’s legendary anime film GHOST IN THE SHELL returns in a stunning new edition remastered by Oshii himself. For this definitive Version 2.0 release, all the original animations are re-produced with latest digital film and animation technologies, including 3D-CGI. Set in a re-imaginedHong Kong at a time when cyberspace is expanding into human reality, the story follows top cyberwarrior Major Motoko Kusanagi as she hovers on the border of total immersion in the digital world.

『Well moulded pearlescent skin even. Very good likeness. Pale but not goth or clown white. Pretty details on clothes, not shoddy at all. Interesting packaging even. Great cost effective deal for your Twilight fan. Made by our fave Mattel so Ken better watch his back!』

(Barbie Twilight Edward Doll for kids not necessarily collectors)
『Edward is a solid white plastic Ken type doll with sticky, spiky brown red hair and glitter spray over his head and chest. Edward and Bella arrive in two separate thin plastic boxes with Olympic National Park rain forest cardboard style backgrounds. Each doll also comes complete with a doll stand and unnumbered certificate from Mattel about the doll embedded into the packaging. If you don't want to play with them be aware that the packaging is a fragile thin plastic and may arrive cracked or broken as one of my Edward dolls packages did from a target location. Since I was planning to open a set any way I was fine with it as the second set of dolls arrived in peanuts from the another retailer. Edward and Bella are Pink label Barbie products so they are for collectors and kids but the packaging isn't durable enough to last for too many years of moving around from place to place unless you get a durable case to keep them in for the long term.

Edwards head can be squished, its a very soft plastic not hard. His hair is typical Ken and Barbie quality and is cut like Edwards in the Twilight films but a little long behind the neck. His shirt is striped not solid blue and is sewn together at a button point on the front so it stays in a specific form but the thread can be carefully cut for a child's everyday play. His hands and body are a harder white plastic typical of Mattel Barbie dolls. Overall the doll is a typical Ken and Barbie style Mattel doll made to look like similar to Edward Cullen to be enjoyed by anyone.

When I tried to order Edward and Bella Barbie from Amazon placing my order on October 6th I was forced to cancel my order a few days ago after getting yet another notice from Amazon that the release date would be into December for these dolls. The date went from approximately Nov. 7 to December sometime. I decided it was insane and rude of Amazon to keep blowing my order off like that and went to two other well known sites to find my 'target' dolls and find out how fast I could get them at the same 25.00 price. I received the 'BARBIE Twilight Edward COLLECTOR' doll by Mattel in 2-3 days from Barbie. My 'target' order came on November 4th, my Mattel order on Thursday, November 5th verses 2 months of waiting on an order from Amazon. I think this is a really sad thing because I have counted on Amazon to be at the forefront for items in the past including Twilight Saga items and they really dropped the ball on a popular item this time. If you don't mind an unknown date of delivery then by all means please give Amazon the business otherwise to get it by the New Moon release or even as a Christmas gift on time go direct to the Barbie Edward Twilight Doll manufacturer (collector site shop hint hint) this week and you'll have it at the same low price plus sadly shipping of course.

If you are looking for a better collectors style doll item or a more quality Edward as a true collectors item at a collectors price I'd go with a 17 inch tall Tonner Edward and Bella available direct from Amazon or Tonner. There are 2 versions of Tonner Bella and Edward, Amazon has an exclusive set too. If however you just want a fun souvenir for yourself or young kids at a cheap price Barbie Twilight Edward is your doll.』

(great)
『I live in the netherlands and have seen sanctuary for the first time on SCFI_europe , its a great story with good actors. In the future i will definetly buy other seasons of this.』

(Pleasantly Surprised)
『Not having cable, I decided to take a chance on the show. I thoroughly enjoyed the mix of detective style drama and supernatural. I would recommend this to fans of either genre.』

(Pleasantly surprised!)
『While I had my doubts about Amanda Tapping's move to this series (and for that manner the shift in "Stargate" story line) I've been pleasantly surprised by both the content and the level of technology in this series. Received in good order and in Amazon's usual prompt delivery time and condition. Viewed without incident and am quite happy with my purchase.』

(Ludicrous entertainment)
『First, it's compelling. Sure, it doesn't make a whole lot of sense - a staff of what, five or so? The action sequences, especially shootouts, are poorly done - Magnus just stands there shooting, for the most part. Ludicrous. The CGI, at least in this season, is not great, but it's the stories that carry you along - some are quite surprising and complex, especially the one with Drawing Boy. The characters are great fun and well written, what with the James (Sherlock) Watson and Jack the Ripper and company.』

(A set not to be missed)
『The complete first season of SANCTUARY is offered in a fine 4-DVD set featuring the original series, following one Dr. Helen Magnus on her quest to study and protect legendary creatures that live with humans. Surround sound, widescreen selection, and numerous extras include audio commentaries on all 13 episodes with case and crew, bloopers, and more in a set not to be missed.』
『The enigmatic Dr. Helen Magnus (Amanda Tapping) and her Sanctuary team are on a quest to study and protect the strange and terrifying creatures that secretly populate our world. Along with their newest recruit, forensic psychiatrist Will Zimmerman (Robin Dunne), the group must face their darkest fears and their worst nightmares in order to provide a safe haven for the monsters that lurk in the shadows. As seen on SciFi Channel. From the writers and producers of Stargate SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis.』

(Another classic movie)
『This is another good classic. Own all the Terminators .Purchasing the DVD series to replace VHS.
Wasn't to thrilled with the Terminator #2 version. Prefer the original you see in the movies.』

(Gotta love Schwarzenegger)
『I always enjoyed the Terminator series. Terminator 3 is great, but Terminator 4 just wasn't the same without Schwarzenegger. Get the first 3 DVDs. I prefer full screen over wide screen. Just my opinion.』

(T Three)

This film was the most depressing of the Schwarzenegger
Terminator Trilogy. Frankly, they should have stopped with
T2, because this was one was depressing. It turns out that
in T2, they did not stop Skynet, that artificial intelligence of the
future. They only postponed "judgement day", that day when
the machines declare war on humanity: Sort of like a
cybernetic version of "9-11". The two Terminators come across
as lawyers, one for the Defense (he wants to postpone
Judgement Day) and one for the Prosecution (all humans are
guilty, and beyond redemption).

In this film, John Connor comes across as weak and
ineffectual. He appears to be semi-illiterate. Whenever he
tries to put together a logical statement he sounds like he is
"jumping to conclusions".

Frankly, the kid in T2 (as annoying as he was) is still a much
better choice to "lead the Resistance" than this guy, who takes
over 3/4 of the film to realize that he is not the only important
person the Terminator has come back to protect. He meets
Kathy Brewster, who is oddly better able to control her emotions
than he is. She locks him in a "kennel", a "cage" when they first
meet. Maybe she should be the future leader of 'the Resistance'?
But remember Connor's biological dad from T1?: He seemed to
have leadership qualities that his son lacks here in the present.
And in T2, the scene where that kid teaches the Terminator "bad
English" while his mother sits silently in the back not admonishing
him, is heartbreaking. What kind of parents are they? He is
fatherless.

There is some humour in the movie. A male cashier asks the
Terminator if he intends to pay. The Terminator extends his hand,
like a Nazi, and says: "Talk to the hand". He then takes the food
and walks out, without paying. INCENTIVES and INTIMIDATION,
like a super model without a credit card. The Terminator: Give him
what he wants and maybe he will not break anything, especially
our legs. The Super Model: Give her what she wants and she might
return.

A woman might bake a cookie for her child. But if a child looks
around his room he might observe that there is very little there that
was built by a woman. For whom do men build things, and why?
"Paper, or plastic?" is a question that used to be heard in grocery
stores, but did not refer to money. Metal, and electronic information,
can be used as money. Men seem to build things for pay checks, or
otherwise attempt to purchase affection (approval) with their works.
Where is the man who has not "paid for..."?

The Terminator tells Brewster, that without her, he would have no
"meaning", for he would be useless in a world without humans to
serve. (The woman was created for the man, wherefore he feels a
NEED for her, and she might WANT him, if he is useful.)

CAVEAT: Profanity, obscenities.

The Sgt. Candy clip, found in the 'extra features' section on
disc 2, is an interesting example of reverse psychology. He
looks white, but sounds like an oppressed black male,
attempting to "fit in" by not sounding aggressive, or displaying
a confident masculinity. Instead he sounds like a child, a boy,
or a man, who has been hurt, not allowed to play with the other
kids, rejected by society, refused employment many times, etc.,
and so he pretends that what happened to him, didn't really
happen. Sgt. Candy wears a mask of denial to conceal "the
pain" of "not belonging", of not being accepted as a person.
He plays the part of "silly negro", a "tool", a disposable
commodity, as soldiers are taught to be. In the army, they are
called "maggots". In the army, females may advance to positions
of command, without ever seeing combat, for they are given the
option, not to SEE combat. They are F, and the soldiers are m,
"maggots". Frankly, the St.Candy clip is the best reason to get
this movie, T3.

The movie closes with these words, which are written, or
spoken, depending I think upon which version of the movie
you get:

The future has not been written...
There is no fate but what we make for ourselves.
- Sarah Connors

By the time Skynet became self-aware it had spread
into millions of computer servers across the planet.
Ordinary computers in office buildings, dorm rooms:
everywhere. It was software, in cyberspace. There
was no system core: it could not be shutdown.

The attack began at 6:18 PM just as he said it would.
Judgement Day, the day the human race was almost
destroyed by the weapons they'd built to protect
themselves.

I should have realized that it was never our destiny to
stop Judgement Day, it was merely to survive it,
together. The Terminator knew, he had told us, but I
didn't want to hear it.

Maybe the future has been written. I don't know...
All I know is what the Terminator taught me, never stop
fighting. And I never will. The battle has just begun.』

(T3 Awesome movie)
『Schwarzenegger is in pro form and loving every minute of the fun. He makes this movie enjoyable. Love this and every movie and TV show associated with the Terminator mythology. On a side note I was happy to see the 1080p problem fixed. There is nothing like watching a Terminator movie in blu ray. Awesome movie and can't wait until Salvation is released with the R rated version.』
『A decade has passed since John Connor (NICK STAHL) helped prevent Judgment Day and save mankind from mass destruction. Now 25, Connor lives "off the grid" - no home, no credit cards, no cell phone and no job. No record of his existence. No way he can be traced by Skynet - the highly developed network of machines that once tried to kill him and wage war on humanity. Until, out of the shadows of the future steps the T-X (KRISTANNA LOKEN), Skynet's most sophisticated cyborg killing machine yet. Sent back through time to complete the job left unfinished by her predecessor, the T-1000, this machine is as relentless as her human guise is beautiful. Now Connor's only hope for survival is the Terminator (ARNOLD SCHWARZENEGGER), his mysterious former assassin. Together, they must triumph over the technologically superior T-X and forestall the looming threat of Judgment Day - or face the apocalypse and the fall of civilization as we know it.』
『With a reported budget of $172 million,Terminator 3: Rise of the Machinesstarts in high gear and never slows down. The apocalyptic "Judgment Day" ofT2was never prevented, only postponed: John Connor (Nick Stahl, replacingT2's Edward Furlong), now 22 and disconnected from society, is being pursued yet again, this time by the advanced T-X, a sleek "Terminatrix" (coldly expressionless Kristanna Loken) programmed to stop Connor from becoming the savior of humankind. Originally programmed as an assassin, a disadvantaged T-101 cyborg (Arnold Schwarzenegger, bidding fond farewell to his signature role) arrives from the future to join Connor and his old acquaintance Kate (Claire Danes) in thwarting the T-X's relentless pursuit. The plot presents a logical fulfillment ofT2prophesy, disposing of Connor's mother (Linda Hamilton is sorely missed) while computer-driven machines assume control, launching a nuclear nightmare that Connor must survive. WithBreakdownandU-571serving as worthy rehearsals for this cautionary epic of mass destruction, director Jonathan Mostow wisely avoids any stylistic connection to James Cameron'sTerminatorclassics; instead he's crafted a fun, exciting popcorn thriller, humorous and yet still effectively nihilistic, and comparable toJurassic Park IIIin returning theTerminatorfranchise to its potent B-movie roots.--Jeff Shannon

Bird has his cake and eats it, too. He and the Pixar wizards send up superhero and James Bond movies while delivering a thrilling, supercool action movie that rivalsSpider-Man 2for 2004's best onscreen thrills. While it's just as funny as the previous Pixar films,The Incredibleshas a far wider-ranging emotional palette (it's Pixar's first PG film). Bird takes several jabs, including some juicy commentary on domestic life ("It's not graduation, he's moving from the fourth to fifth grade!").

The animated Parrs look and act a bit like the actors portraying them, Craig T. Nelson and Holly Hunter. Samuel L. Jackson and Jason Lee also have a grand old time as, respectively, superhero Frozone and bad guy Syndrome. Nearly stealing the show is Bird himself, voicing the eccentric designer of superhero outfits ("No capes!"), Edna Mode.

Nominated for four Oscars,The Incredibleswon for Best Animated Film and, in an unprecedented win for non-live-action films, Sound Editing.

The Presentation
This two-disc set is (shall we say it?), incredible. The digital-to-digital transfer pops off the screen and the 5.1 Dolby sound will knock the socks off most systems. But like any superhero, it has an Achilles heel. This marks the first Pixar release that doesn't include both the widescreen and full-screen versions in the same DVD set, which was a great bargaining chip for those cinephiles who still want a full-frame presentation for other family members. With a 2.39:1 widescreen ratio (that's big black bars, folks,à laDr. Zhivago), a few more viewers may decide to go with the full-frame presentation. Fortunately, Pixar reformats their full-frame presentation so the action remains in frame.

The Extras
The most-repeated segments will be the two animated shorts. Newly created for this DVD is the hilarious "Jack-Jack Attack," filling the gap in the film during which the Parr baby is left with the talkative babysitter, Kari. "Boundin'," which played in front of the film theatrically, was created by Pixar character designer Bud Luckey. This easygoing take on a dancing sheep gets better with multiple viewings (be sure to watch the featurette on the short).

Brad Bird still sounds like a bit of an outsider in his commentary track, recorded before the movie opened. Pixar captain John Lasseter brought him in to shake things up, to make sure the wildly successful studio would not get complacent. And while Bird is certainly likable, he does not exude Lasseter's teddy-bear persona. As one animator states, "He's like strong coffee; I happen to like strong coffee." Besides a resilient stance to be the best, Bird threw in an amazing number of challenges, most of which go unnoticed unless you delve into the 70 minutes of making-of features plus two commentary tracks (Bird with producer John Walker, the other from a dozen animators). We hear about the numerous sets, why you go to "the Spaniards" if you're dealing with animation physics, costume problems (there's a reason why previous Pixar films dealt with single- or uncostumed characters), and horror stories about all that animated hair. Bird's commentary throws out too many names of the animators even after he warns himself not to do so, but it's a lively enough time. The animator commentary is of greatest interest to those interested in the occupation.

There is a 30-minute segment on deleted scenes with temporary vocals and crude drawings, including a new opening (thankfully dropped). The "secret files" contain a "lost" animated short from the superheroes' glory days. This fake cartoon (Frozone and Mr. Incredible are teamed with a pink bunny) wears thin, but play it with the commentary track by the two superheroes and it's another sharp comedy sketch. There are also NSA "files" on the other superheroes alluded to in the film with dossiers and curiously fun sound bits. "Vowellet" is the only footage about the well-known cast (there aren't even any obligatory shots of the cast recording their lines). Author/cast member Sarah Vowell (NPR'sThis American Life) talks about her first foray into movie voice-overs--daughter Violet--and the unlikelihood of her being a superhero. The feature is unlike anything we've seen on a Disney or Pixar DVD extra, but who else would consider Abe Lincoln an action figure?--Doug Thomas

I figured it was just the area, but when I got home, every store I checked had also sold out. I got this movie through Amazon and was thoroughly pleased with sevice, price, and delivery. And to make this experience fully worthwhile, I found the movie was excellent as well.』

And, the wife thought it was a great movie!!』

Great movie for the whole family. A classic. Intelligently entertaining with lots of lines you'll never forget.』

(Classic fairy tale)
『The Princess Bride is a timeless classic. Filled with "fencing, fighting, torture, revenge, giants, monsters, chases, escapes, true love, miracles" - who couldn't be entertained by such a movie? It's funny and quotable, easily enjoyed by adults and kids. The Princess Bride is one of my favorite movies from growing up.』

『One of the best movies to share with your kids or family. What makes this movie great is the fact that there is something in it for everyone. True love, sword fights, deception, revenge and all without blood and cursing.』

(The Princess Bride)
『This movie is timeless. 20 years later it still holds up perfectly. Was excited to view it with my 9 year old son and 7 year old daughter, and they LOVED it. Has become their current favorite movie. Good times for everyone.』

(Come, Grandson! I'll Tell You A Tale....)
『Courtesy of Rob Reiner's skillful direction, and novelist and screenplay writer William Goldman, the world has been presented with a fabulous screen adaptation of the story of an adventurer(Cary Elwes), and his ladylove( Robin Wright), who is very reluctantly about to become a Princess Bride to the Crown Prince of Florin, the evil Prince Humperdinck(Chris Sarandon).
The film adds the element of narration not featured in "The'Good Parts' Version" of S. Morgenstern's "The Princess Bride", by way of an elderly gentleman (Peter Falk) reading a story to his bedridden grandson (Fred Savage), whose apprehension over some of the story's content--specifically the kissing scenes--gradually fades.
We are regaled with story story of the fictional country of Florin, where Buttercup (Wright) the most beautiful woman in the world, torments the farm boy, Wesley(Elwes), whom she eventually comes to love. He goes away to seek his fortune to provide a comfortable life for them when they marry, and Buttercup learns he has been killed by the dread pirate Roberts. She is devastated, but five years later, is betrothed to Prince Humperdinck.
The lonely bride-to-be finds consolation in her daily solitary ride on horseback. But on one such occassion, she is kidnapped by three men, the cunning leader of the group, Vizzini( Wallace Shawn), the Turkish giant, Fezzik (Andre the Giant), and the Spanish swordsman, Inigo Montoya(Mandy Patinkin), who were actually hired by Humperdinck to murder her, frame the enemy country of Guilder for the deed, and start a war. But a mysterious pirate ship thwarts these plans. After besting Montoya (who is on his own personal quest for vengeance) and Fezzik, and engaging in a battle of wits with mastermind Vizzini that results in his death, the mysterious, pirate, believed to be Roberts, lays claim to Buttercup, who initially fails to recognize him as her beloved Wesley. But when she does, their reunion is poignant, and Wesley's words, reassuring and gentle.
They survive the fireswamp, only to encounter Humperdinck and his entourage on the other side. Buttercup surrenders herself to the prince in the hope that Wesley will be spared. Wesley notices that the prince's henchman, Count Rugen (Christopher Guest)fits the description of the man Montoya was looking for.
The old adage, "The course of true love never ran smoothly" is reaffirmed in this tale. But traveling this course, we encounter many colorful characters, including Mel Smith's Albino, who helps Count Rugen carry out his torture of Wesley (as the Count makes inquiries about Wesley's feelings in calm, intellectual tones), Billy Crystal's Miracle Max, once fired by Humperdick, but whom with the encouragement of his wife, Valerie (Carol Kane), helps tip the balance in Wesley's favor, the Impressive Clegyman (Peter Cook), who is charged with performing the marriage ceremony, and Malcolm Storry's Yellin, the head of the Palace Guard who fits the book's description of that character. Anne Dyson and Willoughby Gray are the King and Queen whose kindness is once of Buttercup's few consolations in her life at the palace.
Amid an alliance formed by former foes, and a bit of humor along the way, the story is brought to its highly favorable conclusion.Striking just the right amount of humor, heart, and intelligence, this 1987 favorite has justly earned the title of "classic", and it will undoubtedly continue to withstand the test of time.』

『From celebrated director Rob Reiner (When Harry Met Sally) and OscarÂ(r)-winning* screenwriter William Goldman (Chaplin) comes "an enchanting fantasy" (Time) filled with adventure, romance and plenty of "good-hearted fun" (Roger Ebert)! Featuring a spectacular cast thatincludes Robin Wright (Forrest Gump), Cary Elwes (Liar, Liar), Mandy Patinkin (Dick Tracy) and Billy Crystal (City Slickers), this wonderful fairy tale about a Princess named Buttercup and her beloved is "a real dream of a movie" (People)! *1969: OriginalScreenplay, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid 1976: Adapted Screenplay, All the President's Men』
『Screenwriter William Goldman's novelThe Princess Brideearned its own loyal audience on the strength of its narrative voice and its gently satirical, hyperbolic spin on swashbuckled adventure that seemed almost purely literary. For all its derring-do and vivid over-the-top characters, the book's joy was dictated as much by the deadpan tone of its narrator and a winking acknowledgement of the clichés being sent up. Miraculously, director Rob Reiner and Goldman himself managed to visualize this romantic fable while keeping that external voice largely intact: using a storytelling framework, avuncular Grandpa (Peter Falk) gradually seduces his skeptical grandson (Fred Savage) into the absurd, irresistible melodrama of the title story.

And what a story: a lowly stable boy, Westley (Cary Elwes), pledges his love to the beautiful Buttercup (Robin Wright), only to be abducted and reportedly killed by pirates while Buttercup is betrothed to the evil Prince Humperdinck. Even as Buttercup herself is kidnapped by a giant, a scheming criminal mastermind, and a master Spanish swordsman, a mysterious masked pirate (could it be Westley?) follows in pursuit. As they sail toward the Cliffs of Insanity...

The wild and woolly arcs of the story, the sudden twists of fate, and, above all, the cartoon-scaled characters all work because of Goldman's very funny script, Reiner's confident direction, and a terrific cast. Elwes and Wright, both sporting their best English accents, juggle romantic fervor and physical slapstick effortlessly, while supporting roles boast Mandy Patinkin (the swordsman Inigo Montoya), Wallace Shawn (the incredulous schemer Vizzini), and Christopher Guest (evil Count Rugen) with brief but funny cameos from Billy Crystal, Carol Kane, and Peter Cook.--Sam Sutherland
『Screenwriter William Goldman's novelThe Princess Brideearned its own loyal audience on the strength of its narrative voice and its gently satirical, hyperbolic spin on swashbuckled adventure that seemed almost purely literary. (Average SciFi show, nothing groundbreaking, watchable)
『Starting to smell a little of the viral marketing hype machine here.

This is a decent television show, better than average for a network, somewhat below average compared to HBO/Showtime shows. The mass audience whose sole experience with Sci Fi is X-Files or BSG will like it. Needs more meat to keep a serious SciFi fan's attention.

The acting is fine, the actors do a good job of making the characters fairly interesting, the writing is often banal and cliched unfortunately. Moves the obligatory government/big corporation conspiracy meta-plot along well and coherently unlike the X-Files, though the meta plot here is not nearly as interesting or intelligent as in the X-Files.

Massive suspension of disbelief issues abound, the explanations for why the plots unfold as they do are usually dumb and unconvincing. We are led to believe that an extremist group is preparing for a war between alternate universes, but not enough convincing detail is given as to why the group acts as it does to allow immersion. Every episode offers really stretched explanations as to why the sect is acting as it is, it's all just backdrop for the monsters and mayhem anyway, so this is forgiveable.

Decent television, yes, the masterpiece some reviews here would lead one to believe? Sorry, no.』

(Intrigue, Sci-Fi, Horror, and Laughs)
『I don't watch much TV at home, but caught one of the early episodes in a hotel room while traveling for work. The combination of intrigue plus the sci-fi/horror plot line grabbed my attention right away; these shows typically hit the ground running. Then I see this familiar face on one of the characters, an actor I've seen before, and then it hits me - Dr. Walter Bishop, played by John Noble, was Denethor in the Peter Jackson "Lord of the Rings" film trilogy, where he played the warped, abusive father of Faramir, the guy who sets himself on fire and runs off the cliff. Now here he is playing another role as a crazy man, but this one is also lovable and often hilarious! As soon as I saw that I was hooked - I can watch the show just to see Walter - John Noble is a tremendous actor and the cast is uniformly excellent. I have only good things to say about the show.』

(Brilliant, massively fun TV)
『I can't say enough how much fun watching Season 1 has been. I rarely catch anything on primetime, so I'm a little behind on the curve in giving Fringe its proper kudos. I approached it somewhat apprehensively, being a big LOST fan but wondering if JJ Abrams sophomore effort could even match his first. Fringe seriously exceeded all expectations.

I think characters are better written in todays television than they have been in decades, and Fringe is no exception. John Noble's Dr Bishop is absolutely phenomenal, and an authentic charaterization of genius/insanity. His comments and outbursts are equal parts funny/interesting/creepy. His son, Peter (Josh Jackson) is the most likeable criminal you'll meet. There's solid chemistry between he and Agent Dunham (Anna Torv, who is probably my least favorite of the main characters), and even Astrid The Lab Agent does what she needs to do to play a good supportive cast member.

The plotlines are far-out but believable enough to be credible and unsettling. Almost never does Fringe give you the feeling that we are dealing with science-fiction, but more with science-gone-wrong (plausible, considering today's high-profit pharmaceutical industry). It has a strong linear episodic path, and really keeps pulling you along from the Pilot on. Special effects work well, and while not cutting edge, do their part.

If dramas like Lost and The X-Files have at least at some point captured your liking, you will become a fan of Fringe very quickly. Highly recommended.』

(I love Fringe Fries)
『You never know what Dr. Frankenstein may crave as he examines the latest body. It's worth your time to watch this series and find out for yourself what this means!』

『Teleportation. Mind control. Invisibility. Astral projection. Mutation. Reanimation. Phenomena that exist on the Fringe of science unleash their strange powers in this thrilling series, co-created by J.J. Abrams (Lost, Alias), combining the grit of the police procedural with the excitement of the unknown. The story revolves around three unlikely colleagues– a beautiful young FBI agent, a brilliant scientist who’s spent the last 17 years in a mental institution and the scientist’s sardonic son – who investigate a series of bizarre deaths and disasters known as “the pattern.” Someone is using our world as an experimental lab. And all clueslead to Massive Dynamic, a shadowy global corporation that may be more powerful than any nation.

DVD features:
Evolution: The Genesis of Fringe featurette - The creators of the show discuss how the series unfolded and the qualities that make it so unique
Behind the Real Science of Fringe featurette - From teleportation to re-animation, Fringe incorporates recent discoveries in science. Consulting experts and scientists who are the authorities in their field address the areas of science which are the inspiration for the show.
A Massive Undertaking: The Making of Fringe (on select episodes) - An in-depth exploration of how select episodes came to be made: from the frozen far reaches of shooting the pilot in Toronto, to the weekly challenges of bringing episodes to air
The Casting of Fringe- The story, as told by producers and cast, of how Anna Torv, Joshua Jackson, John Noble and others came to be cast in the series.
Fringe Visual Effects featurette - Goes deep into the creation of the shared dream state with some of the biggest VFX shots of the show.
Dissected Files: Unaired Scenes
Unusual Side Effects: Gag Reel

Three Full-Length Commentaries from writers/producers, including J.J. Abrams, Roberto Orci, Alex Kurtman, J.R. Orci, David Goodman, Bryan Burk, Akiva Goldsman and Jeff Pinkner

『Teleportation, mind control, astral projection, invisibility, precognition, spontaneous combustion, reanimation: these are among the peripheral sciences--or "pseudo-sciences," as one skeptic puts it--examined during the first season ofFringe, a Fox network TV drama debuting on DVD with the full first season (twenty episodes) offered on seven extras-laden discs. The notion that those phenomena could have a genuine scientific basis is intriguing enough. But co-creator J.J. Abrams (whose bulging resume as a director, writer, and producer includesLost,Alias, and the 2009Star Trekfeature film) has even more on his mind. Along with the weird science, the series features a multi-agency task force investigating related acts of terrorism that may very well add up to a threat of unimaginable global proportions; people who are exactly what they appear to be (i.e., insane) and others who are anything but; plot twists galore; family drama, interpersonal relationships, corporate evil, cop chases... There's a lot in play here, and while it doesn't always hold together (and like any new series, it takes a while to hit its stride),Fringeis rarely boring, and never less than impressively ambitious.

The pilot introduces us to the main characters, principally FBI agent Olivia Dunham (Anna Torv, good but not great in the show's central role) and others on the task force brought in to investigate some gross goings-on aboard a jumbo jet (a "self-eradicating, airborne toxin" reduced everyone to blood and bones). Seems this is but one part of "The Pattern," a series of synchronous, similarly shocking events that unfold as the show progresses; in subsequent episodes, lots of people are killed in graphic fashion by all manner of horrors, including scary monsters (slugs as big as a football, teethed parasites that can crush your heart), a gas that freezes a busload of passengers "like insects trapped in amber," people so radioactive they can literally make your brain boil… it goes on. Helping Dunham and the rest of the force figure it all out are scientist Dr. Walter Bishop (an appealing John Noble), who's spent the past 17 years locked up in the loony bin and whose research may be responsible for some of the crimes we witness, and his son-babysitter Peter (JoshuaJackson). As for the "fringe" element, Dr. Bishop and other, less benign geniuses jump-start a dead man's brain, photograph another victim's cornea in order to access the last thing she saw before death, connect Dunham to her boyfriend so she can experience his memories of the incident that left him comatose, use high-frequency vibrations to enable bank robbers to pass through a solid vault wall, and much, much more. As for where and how all of this ends up, let's just that enquiring minds will have to hang in for the long, complicated run.

Bonus features are many and varied; among the best are "Deciphering the Scene" (brief explications of key scenes in every episode) and "The Massive Undertaking" (detailing how certain special effects sequences were pulled off).--Sam Graham

(Thoughtful Sci-Fi ... It's been a long time...)
『Disclaimer: I'm a sci-fi fan, but I've never watched Battlestar Galactica (O.k., I'm old enough to have grown up watching the original series with Lorne Greene. I've just never watched the new one.)

I took a chance and pulled this movie off the shelves at the local library. It's been a long time since I've seen a decent sci-fi movie, and I was pleasantly surprised. This was a wonderful, thought-provoking story that combines issues like the ancient philosophical question of the Ship of Theseus (google it), Frankenstein and others. Interesting videography, and fascinating depiction of parental grief ... watch especially how the two genders grieve. (Side note: this would be an excellent film to show in an college-level class (ethics or family psychology/sociology or gender studies).

I gave this four stars instead of 5 for two reasons: (1) I thought the adult characters were more well-developed than the teen-agers, whom I find myself not really caring about. The story should have either focused more on the adults, or developed the teens more. (2) Several of the cast (especially Esai Morales, who I think is usually a solid actor) had a tendency to swallow their words, making some dialog difficult to understand.

If you're looking for a good, solid, thought-provoking sci-movie, I highly recommend Caprica.』

(Review from a female fan.)
『The producers of this show specifically say that they want the show to appeal more to women, so they took out the action fighting scenes and put in more drama. Okay, I really like the story line of Battlestar Gallactica, so not a problem. But the club scene? How exactly is that going to attract women? Lots of topless women; Group sex; drugs; virgin sacrifices; Pornography at its best.

If the producers had enough guts to actually rate this movie, it would be NC-17. But they also admit that this was not the version they showed on TV, so why not release two version. One of this NR / NC-17 and one for TV viewing.

If this is the tone of the series, I will not watch it unless I can obtain a modified / cleaned up version. The storyline may be good, but I am not going to sit through an NC-17 TV show, nor expose my family to it.

Note to Battlestar Gallactica producers - the main reason why Battlestar Gallactica was a success is that it required thinking. Your target audience, Sci-Fi geeks (men and women) like a show that have intelligence; shows that have more than a single episode story line; shows that have a puzzle to solve -- not just a "who shot JR"? Yes, it makes it more difficult for people to flip to the show and get into the show without getting lost, but it also makes the show worth watching. That is HuLu and Amazon downloads are for.

Tone down the Male Teenage stuff or at least provide two release (one targeted towards adults and one targeted towards teenage boys).』

(A worthy "prequel" to BSG)
『FIRST OFF: I followed "Battlestar Galactica" religiously from beginning to end, and I still think it's one of the greatest sci-fi TV series ever created (if not THE greatest), and at my age that's saying something. But some things I had heard about "Caprica" didn't seem to bode quite as well: That it was more melodramatic, kind of like "Dallas" in outer space.

Well NOT TO WORRY, because "Caprica" is an extremely worthy successor/prequel to BSG. It is different, make no mistake about that, but I found it absolutely haunting for one reason more than anything: It portrays a human civilization on the cusp of a Technological Singularity. Sure, there have been plenty of movies and TV shows that have explored the concept of machine intelligence, but to the best of my knowledge there has never been an attempt to portray the Technological Singularity (look it up on Wikipedia if you like) in the terms that futurists like Ray Kurzweil and Vernor Vinge have envisioned it. "Capica" is noteworthy for scratching the surface.』

(Very interesting)
『This movie could stand alone bot for those battle star galatica followers it answers the cylons religious leanings towards mono theism./ Also shows how far grief will drive a parent. Has scene of what happens when the young becomes disillusioned with popular culture and look for more.』

(The Battlestar Galactica back story)
『Challenge: to write the review that this deserves, without spoilers... "Caprica" is set fifty years or so prior to the events of "Battlestar Galactica". It's the story of the first Cylon, Admiral Adama as a boy, his father Joe Adams, the monotheist resistance to the sanctioned polytheism, and the other groups, people, things, and events that led to the Cylon attack that annihilated the Colonies.

"Caprica" deals with issues of loss, ambition, parent/child relations, rebellion, and the unintended consequences of technology in a science fiction setting. Conspicuous by its absence from "Caprica" are military issues, but they have been dealt with at length in BSG. The closest thing would be the relationship of research to the military, but this is approached from the corporate end rather than the uniformed end.

I enjoy it greatly. "Caprica" is a complex tale, with several threads being addressed on several levels each. After watching it once, I immediately wanted to watch it again to pick up on cues and hints throughout the flick. For something made for TV, it is surprisingly good, and though part of the BSG universe, has elements that were never addressed before, and stands alone well.

E.M. Van Court』

『An astonishing breakthrough is taking shape on the planet Caprica. The rapidly evolving spheres of human and mechanical engineering have collided, along with the fates of two families. Joined by tragedy in an explosive instant of terror, two rival clans led by powerful patriarchs, Joseph Adama (Esai Morales, Jericho) and Daniel Graystone (Eric Stoltz, The Butterfly Effect) duel in an era of questionable ethics, corporate machinations and unbridled personal ambition as the final war for humanity looms. The latest phenomenon from the executive producers of Battlestar Galactica (Ronald D. Moore and David Eick), set in a time over 50 years earlier, Caprica is entirely its own world - provocative, thrilling and startling relevant to our own.』
