(Soylent Green)
『One of the greatest sci-fi movies ever made. This movie is such a classic for any sci-fi fan. "Soylent Green is people"』

(SOYLENT GREEN)
『A wonderful, really bad, movie. You will catch yourself sub-refrencing it for months after watching it. People will wonder what you are talking about.』

(Reviewing Soylent Green)
『I read about Soylent Green, in comparison to the new health care bill that is now being debated, and was curious, since I had never seen it. It saddens me to think that our country would ever come to a time when we would even consider such a comparison. On a lighter note, Charlton Heston never dissappoints, in any of his movies. He is great!』

(Fare beware!)
『2022 and the future is bleak. 40 million people live in New York City and everything's scarce. A new vegetable based food, Soylent Green, seems to be the solution to the problem.

Detective Thorn (Heston) shares his squalid digs with Sol Roth (Edward G. Robinson), an old college professor who insists on telling him (in no small part to remind himself as well) how good the world used to be.

When Thorn is called out on the murder of a VIP, Simonson, (Cotten) we get quite a different view of life at the top. Simonson's roommate is an attractive young woman, Shirl (Taylor-Young) who is more or less part of the furnishings of the apartment should the new tenant desire it so. As Thorn continues to investigate, he realizes that something is very wrong at the Soylent Corporation, where Simonson and many of the top officials were affiliated.

The idea for this future dystopic originally came from a sci-fi detective novel by Harry Harrison, which was originally titled "Make Room, Make Room!" Harrison's story was one of the initial genre-benders that newer films like "Blade Runner" sprang from.

"Soylent Green" was Edward G. Robinson's last film and his performance as a dying old man was by far the best. While the film is one of the great sci-fi classics, many of the effects are outdated. The 'hot pink' blood literally jarred me out of the story momentarily.

Rebecca Kyle, September 2009』

(Soylent green is made of people)
『A classic in the truest sense. A future where humanity is reaping the price for it's negligence of nature. Humanity overpopulation and it's effects are vividly depicted.』
『The is the year 2022. Overcrowding, pollution, and resource depletion have reduced society's leaders to finding food for the teeming masses. The answer is Soylent Green - an artificial nourishment whose actual ingredients are not known by the public. Thorn is the tough homicide detective who stumbles onto the secret so terrifying no one would dare believe him.』
『Charlton Heston seemed fond of starring in apocalyptic science-fiction films in the late 1960s and early '70s. There wasPlanet of the Apes, of course, andThe Omega Man. But there was also 1973'sSoylent Green, a strange detective film (based on Harry Harrison'sMake Room! Make Room!) set in 2022 and starring Heston as a Manhattan cop trying to solve a murder in the overpopulated, overheated city. His roommate (a necessity in the overcrowded metropolis), played by Edward G. Robinson, tries telling him about a better time on Earth before there were no more resources or room left; but Heston doesn't care. Directed by Richard Fleischer (The Vikings), the film has a curious but largely successful mix of mystery and bleak futuristic vision, somewhat likeBlade Runnerbut without the extraordinary art direction. This was Robinson's last film and he's easily the best thing about it; his final scene seems terribly appropriate in retrospect. Joseph Cotten makes an appearance as the man whose murder results in the revelation of a shocking secret.--Tom Keogh

(Excellent!)
『Henry Winkler is excellent. The only thing I have to say is, there was too much time spent on his Christmas past. I got bored with it. Otherwise, it was good and worth the money.』

(Excellent story)
『Not the best quality DVD, but it's a great story. I recommend it to all.』

(an american christmas carol)
『this is my favorite twist on the orginal christmas carol.if you collect and enjoy different versions of this story this is a must have. henry winkler is fantastic, and the character transformation from a crabbie tight wad to a friendly giving man was very convincing . in the end his way of "paying it forward" added a new ending to an old classic.』

(An American Christmas Carol)
『Since I was a child many years past I have been interested in Dickens Christmas Carol. When I saw this version it stood out amoung the many other versions out there. Henry Winkler plays a good scrooge charactor. The story itself is based on Charles Dickens A Christmas Carol and the story sticks very close to the original with a 1920s depiction of the American depression.』

(An American Christmas Carol)
『The best Christmas movie ever! I saw this when it was aired on TV back in 1979 and purchased it on VHS when it became available. It was our family tradition for years to watch this on Thanksgivng evening. I bought DVD copies for my children who now have families of their own who will carry on the tradition.
Henry Winkler is amazing in this! No matter how many times I've seen this, I still laugh and cry.』

『A new version of the all-time family favorite starring Henry Winkler. It is Christmas Eve 1933, and the townspeople of Concord, New Hampshire, are trying to hold onto their Christmas spirit in the face of the Great Depression. But old Mr. Benedict Slade is ruining what Christmas hope the town has left by mercilessly repossessing their prized goods. Alone in his apartment, Slade is visited by three ghosts--Christmas Past, Present and Future--who take him on a fantastic journey through time that will show him the tragic consequences of his actions if he doesn't mend his ways forever! Adapted from Charles Dickens' classic story "A Christmas Carol."』

『This is an awesome seller. Honest and ships quickly. I'll be sure to order from them in the future. Thank you!』

(I love Smallville)
『This isn't the best season of Smallville I own (I own them all) but it is certainly still full of the vigor I have fallen for since the Pilot.』

(Smallville The Complete Sixth Season)
『This completes my husband's collection of Smallville one of the best series on TV. I'll return to Amazon for other video selections as the price was the best I could find.』

(The Meteor Rocky Horror Show Rocks)
『I have followed the story line on cable TV for most of its seasons but, as circumstances often dictate, I have missed a few shows which can put some serious holes in appreciating dialogue that has to do with story-line. I love this recreation of the Superman Myth, except for the fact, he has yet to fly without being under the influence. The story seems to be sensitive to many deserving issues of the US, but there is still a distinct Canadian patois. I am an OKie and rural Kansans are a bit twangy, too. I can hang as a fan on until Clark begins to turn grey.』

『I ordered as a last minute xmas gift for my son-in-law. He loved it and the ship time was superfast.』

『Picking up where its fifth season left off,Smallville's sixth season begins with Metropolis in ruins, Clark (Tom Welling) trapped in the Phantom Zone, and General Zod inhabiting the body of Lex (Michael Rosenbaum). Even when that situation, dubbed "Black Thursday," is over, Clark still has to capture the criminals who escaped from the Phantom Zone. Meanwhile, having driven away Lana (Kristin Kreuk), she finds comfort in the home and arms of Lex, driving further anxiety into that romantic triangle that has expanded to include Chloe (Allison Mack, still with a smile that lights up the orb on top of the Daily Planet) and her new beau, photographer Jimmy Olsen (Aaron Ashmore). And Lois (Erica Durance)? We see hints of her inevitable future in her becoming a reporter for the tabloid ragThe Inquisitor("The thrill of discovery, the clack of the keys, the scent of fresh ink… I think I've finally found my calling!") and flashing some sparks with Clark especially in a Valentine's Day episode called "Crimson."

She also finds a new boyfriend in Oliver Queen (Justin Hartley), a tycoon who moves from Star City to Metropolis and revives a boarding-school rivalry with Lex. But Queen is also a superhero, the Green Arrow, and he's out to thwart Lex's project called 33.1, which runs tests on meteor-powered humans. And in an awesome episode called "Justice," the Green Arrow gathers his team--Bart Allen (Kyle Gallner), a.k.a. Impulse (a change after he was first called the Flash); Arthur "AC" Curry (Alan Ritchson), a.k.a. Aquaman; and Victor Stone (Lee Thompson Young), a.k.a. Cyborg (who had all appeared in the series before)--with Clark to shut down Lex. Yet another hero from the comic books--an interplanetary detective (Phil Morris)--helps Clark fight rogue Kryptonians. It all ends in a slam-bang finale with a number of surprises. Even though the Lana drama went on too long, Green Arrow and some choice episodes stuff made this one ofSmallville's best seasons. Guest stars include Tori Spelling as a nosy gossip reporter and Lynda "Wonder Woman" Carter as Chloe's mom.--David Horiuchi

(It was good)
『It is a good family friendly flick, and one wouldn't have to hesitate to let their kids see it. Kids would find it pretty funny and my kids were laughing through the whole thing. I enjoyed the film.....it was cute and somewhat funny. I think Adam Sandler was alright, and he was his usual self but with family friendly humor. I didn't think Kerri Russell was all that great in this flick, and Courtney Cox, I think, was channeling a little bit of Monica from Friends in this film, but it worked. But my favorite character in the film? Bugsy. That big eyed family pet was hilarious!
If you're looking for a family friendly film this is definitely one!

(Totally Awesome!!! Great for the family!)
『This is wonderful for everyone in the family! Adam Sandler is just Fantastic! You can laugh with the kids watching this one! Enjoy!!!』

(Good)
『Received dvd in great time. had a little trouble starting to play, but now works great.』

(Bedtime Stories - DVD)
『Bought this DVD for my granddaughter and she loved it. I watched it with her and thought it was a cute story. Would buy it for a child another time as a gift. My granddaughter is 8 yers old.』

(A bit adult and a bit child)
『Imagine yourself in the position of a child in this day and age. The seriousness of becoming an adult will come all too soon for our children. We have taken the ability for them to use their imagination out of the picture. They are given tv, video games and various negative thought-inducing activities every day. Give them this hour-plus of a fantastic imagination-producing movie to encourage them to come up with ideas of their own that they would like to see become a reality..

『Funnyman Adam Sandler stars in Walt Disney Pictures' Bedtime Stories, the magical family comedy that's packed with adventure and lots of heart. When Skeeter Bronson (Sandler) babysits his sister's (Courteney Cox) children, his imagination runs wild as he dreams up elaborate bedtime stories always casting himself as the hero. Entranced, the children add their own ideas to these once-upon-a-time tales of heroics and chivalry. Then magic happens. These nighttime fantasies become Skeeter's daytime realities, leading him on a real-life adventure in search of his own happy ending. Filled with colorful characters, humor and whimsy, this heartwarming comedy will enchant your entire family again and again.』
『A fantastical tale about a man who makes up bedtime stories for his niece and nephew only to find that they magically come true the next day,Bedtime Storiesis a funny and enjoyable film about finding happiness in unexpected places. Skeeter (Adam Sandler) grew up with his sister Wendy (Courteney Cox) in a small hotel run by his father Marty (Jonathan Pryce) which was eventually sold to Barry Nottingham (Richard Griffiths) with the caveat that Skeeter would someday assume a leadership role in the business. Expansion transformed the small hotel into the luxury Nottingham Hotel, but Skeeter is just a handyman with little hope of advancement. When his sister needs to leave the state for a job interview, Skeeter ends up sharing the responsibility of watching her two elementary-age children Bobbi (Laura Ann Kessling) and Patrick (Jonathan Morgan Heit), whom he hasn't seen for years, with Wendy's friend Jill (Keri Russell). Initially an awkward situation, Skeeter and the kids bond over bedtime stories which Skeeter and the children make up. When events in the story start coming true, Skeeter tries to spin the stories to benefit his life, but events take some unexpected turns thanks to the kids' wild imaginations and some strange translations between fiction and reality. New relationships flourish and in the end, Skeeter, Wendy, Mr. Nottingham, Bobbi, Patrick, and Jill each find happiness in a most unexpected place and discover what's really important in their own life. Also worth mentioning is the character Bugsy, a guinea pig with enormous eyes that's sure to have every child begging for their own pet guinea pig. Rated PG for mild rude humor and mild language, but appropriate for most ages 6 and older.--Tami Horiuchi

(No Magnet)
『Overall, great release. Everything that has been said by others I will not repeat. I think what Shout! did is they took the best master of every scene. This means there should be no more color goofs (like Rhino), unless of course back in the 80s a scene was never corrected. This also means the picture quality will not be consistent for some eps, like for instance "Heavy Metal War". This particular ep the varying of the picture quality is really noticeable, but overall it's not a distraction.

What you are getting for the price makes this a great value. If you missed the Rhino, by all means pick up this one.

I should point out I did not get a magnet in mine. That's the reason I bumped down the score from 5 to 4 stars. Did anyone else not get theirs? Maybe it really is "limited edition"? Or am I just the unlucky chump that got a bad one? I don't think I'm missing anything, but I still would've liked to have it.』

(Quick and reliable)
『I ordered this DVD set as a gift and it came promptly and in excellent condition. I was completely satisfied with the purchase. Thanks』

(More than meets the eye!!)
『If you are a Transformers fan this is a must have(unless you already have them on DVD). I loved the cartoons when I was a kid&they are fun to watch now with my daughter. The people who are rating this poorly are doing it for the wrong reasons(read their reviews). This is a great set. The extra's are only so-so but I did not buy this for the extra's. Cannot wait for all the seasons!』

(laughing all the way down memory lane)
『Got to be one of the best cartoon series ever made. GI Joe is the only one that can compare in terms of pure joy. Funny part about this is that I thought it was common knowledge that only decepticons can fly. But I guess they all could for the first three episodes and then afterward the autobots ceased to fly. This left me confused but oh well...』

(Feel like a kid again!)
『I purchased this item along with G.I.Joe season 1.1 and I loved it. I laughed at stuff I didn't remember and thought what the hell and cheered when there was action. It was awesome to see my beloved transformers on the screen again. Took me back to being an 8 yr old. I watched it with my son and he loved it. The week we got the set we saw the whole season twice over the weekend. It was great. Hearing Peter Cullen again was the greatest. If you loved transformers as a kid and you now have children. This is something you can all watch now and enjoy. It's like the spacebridge to Cybertron, the old commercials and PSA's were great to see again too.
Season 2 is next. Hope you all enjoy.』

(very good buy)
『my daughter loves this movie and i didnt have to wait very long to receive this product. i would definately recommend buying from them again』

(Not just a funny Disney movie, but a cult classic)
『Wow. The 70s was probly a great year for cat culture. You had Robert Crumbs Fritz the Cat becoming a hit movie, Morris the cat become a spoke person for 9 Lives cat food. Garfield make it daybut in the sunday newspapper. Mary Tylor Moore starts her own television company called MTM with that cat in it. And Then you had Aristocats. But I remember seeing this when it was aired on a Toledo station in Toledo Ohio. To be honest here. This happends to be the funnest disney movie I have ever seen. Infect this is the oney Disney movie I would watch over and over again. What else is there to love in a movie. Great music, great lines, and great voices of chators done by the best actors and actresses. So who did the voices in this movie? Phil Harris who did the voice of Thomas O Malley, also did the voice of Baloo the bear in The Jungle Book and Big John in Robin Hood. Stering Halloway who did the voice of Roquefort the mouse also did the voice of Winning the Poo in those Winning the Poo movies. And the guy who does the voice of Scat Cat, Doesent it sound like voice of that guy who played Turkle the night guard in One Flew over the Cookoo Nest and Dick Hallorann in The Shinning, and Chico and the man. Its great famly entertainment with no vilonts. The Butler guy sure gives me the the creeps in a funny way. Now why isnt that guy working for The Adam Family? But I do love the ending when Roquefort tell the horse The End and horse says I'am the leader and I will tell you when it The End, The word The End appears on the screen and the horse says The End』

(My daughter cannot get enough of the "Aristocats"!)
『Fun movie for all the family to enjoy. Catchy songs and a great story line.』

『This enchanting tale begins in Paris, when a kind and eccentric millionairess wills her entire estate to her family a family of adorable high-society cats. But when Edgar, the greedy butler, overhears her plan, he catnaps Duchess, the elegant, soft-spoken mother, and her three mischievous kittens and abandons them in the French countryside. Soon, they re being escorted home by the charming Thomas O Malley, a rough-and-tumble alley cat, who takes them to his pad along the way, where Scat Cat and his band of swingin jazz cats perform the memorable Ev rybody Wants To Be A Cat. Enriched by highstyle Disney animation (The New Yorker) and toe-tapping music by Academy Award® winning songwriters the Sherman brothers, The Aristocats is a timeless treasure and the last animated feature to get the nod from Walt Disney himself.』
『Duchess and her three kittens are enjoying the high life with their devoted human mistress until the wicked butler Edgar, with his eyes on a big inheritance, decides to dope them and get them out of the picture. How can these fragile creatures cope in the unfamiliar countryside and the meaner streets of Paris? Only by meeting the irrepressible alley cat O'Malley, a rough diamond with romance in his heart. After they get a taste of the wide dangerous world, he guides them home, and Edgar gets his just desserts at the wrong end of a horse. As always, it's really the voices rather than the animation that are the heart of the Disney magic: Phil Harris is brilliant as O'Malley, Eva Gabor as Duchess is... well... Eva Gabor; but perhaps the most memorable turns are by Pat Buttram and George Lindsay, who turn the old hounds Napoleon and Lafayette into a couple of bumbling Southern-fried rednecks. Their scenes with Edgar, and the musical numbers with Scat Cat and his cool-dude band, are classic. Most striking about seeingThe Aristocatsnow is how deeply Disney's style of animation has changed since this was at the cutting edge in 1970. Perhaps the nostalgic, dated feel are just a result of being plonked down in Belle Epoque Paris, but the illustrations are fussier (a pity) and the animation and overall pace much less frenetic (sometimes a relief) than in more recent efforts such as Aladdin.--Richard Farr

(Blu-ray version very disappointing technical quality)
『My comments pertain only to the Blu-Ray version. The technical quality is very disappointing for me. The sharpness and detail does not compare to most of the other Blu-Ray titles I have watched. It is much improved over the DVD version, but that isn't saying much, because the DVD release of this title looked like a bad dub of a bad VHS tape. This Blu-Ray release is comparable to what the earlier DVD release should have looked like. The back indicates that it is released through the Turner and Warner Bros operations, so I suppose that says a lot. I wish that companies such as these would throw in the towel and turn this stuff over to companies that care at least a little bit about the quality of the product, as opposed to how much revenue it generates. They care only about how much revenue it generates, and for the most part could care less whether the technical quality is up to the standard for the media.』

(BD Review: Straight crap!)
『Let me start by saying that I love this film! I just gave away my DVD version expecting this to at least be up to standards on Blu-Ray quality, but it falls below standards.

The pro reviews got this one wrong - or they just let it off the hook. The picture quality looks as if it came from a 3rd generation print. It has tons of grain and scratches on it. It is clear that they just formatted it for BD and let it roll. I guess they look at box office performances and that decides if they should actually bring the film up to standards of the new medium. EVERY BD film should be what we expect it to be - 1080P HD!!

I almost regret giving away my DVD, but some scenes do show a little bit of HD, but most of the film is grainy, hazy, scratchy and shows a slime green hue on certain special effects like backgrounds. Maybe the budget on the film was not high to begin with, but this release should have maximized what it had. The sound on the other hand is really good with true surround sound! The sound out performs the picture by a mile and is the only thing that can trick you into thinking that the picture is decent.

They have been talking about doing a (another!!!) remake. I hate remakes and I see them as nothing more than Hollywood running out of ideas and a quick money grab. However, this one could use a remake (with non-British actors in AMERICA!!!!), as long as it is a part of the book series and follows the book and has the sequels as well.

If you gave away your DVD like I did waiting for this, then you must get it. If you did not, you can keep the DVD...』

(Straight from DVD to Blu-ray)
『I'm giving this 5 stars simply because of the movie. Logan's Run is one of the all-time Sci-Fi classics in my opinion. It tells the story of a civilization where there are no wants or needs, no disease, no jealousy, no anger, no sadness whatsoever. It is upotia. The catch is, and you knew there was one, that you have to die when you're 30. Just about all functions are controlled my a central machine (George Orwell would be proud) with discipline carried out by a police force called Sandmen, which are just the cream of the crop humans. Why does the perfect society need a police force? As you might have guess, some people don't want to die when they're 30, so the run and try to escape the city to a place called sanctuary. And that is the basic premise of the movie.

The story examines many concepts of how people react and behave in such a world. There of course is the Orwellian concept of central control. What is the price of pure, uninterrupted happiness? What will people risk to keep on living? Especially when they literally have nothing to lose. But the main thrust is what happens to a person when they find out that everything that they have ever been taught, everything they have ever believed turns out to be a lie. Can they accept it? Will they keep their beliefs when the truth is staring them straight in the face?

As for the blu-ray, it is a straight copy of the DVD, so there's no other goodies to go along with it. The problem is that there weren't that many goodies on the DVD. The only special feature is a commentary by Michael York (who place the title character), the director and producer. It was very interesting, don't get me wrong, but you could tell that the three had recoreded their commentary separately so there was no interaction between them, which is always nice.』

(A laughable waste)
『Gawd, what a disappointment. Somehow, I'd had fond memories from my teen years about this flick... I must have been pretty drunk or stoned (or both) at the time. Maybe I saw it at a drive-in on a hot date, and only really saw a few parts? Or maybe my teenaged libido just reacted to the then-rare excitement of seeing a brief glimpse or two of Jenny Aguttar's naked body, I don't know, but something possessed me to try to relive some past joys by buying this thing. What a mistake.

The only cast member who could even act his way out of a paper bag was Peter Ustinov, who must still be spinning in his grave to have ever been associated with this silly piece of tripe. And could that cardboard cutout really be the same Michael York who was so effective in Cabaret? Jordan and Aguttar... well, one never really expects much from them anyway. But it is actually painful to see Fawcett stumbling her way through this early movie role... you can almost hear the director yelling "look just like the poster, Farrah-- just smile, don't move!"

The props/effects are almost entirely laughable-- a "killer robot" who appears to be made from tinfoil, "energy guns" that look like halloween sparklers, fight and chase sequences that would fit right into any c-rated 60's Japanese monster movie, etc. The whole thing actually seems like more of a spoof on sci-fi flix; but sadly, it isn't... at least, not intentionally.

It's hard to believe this stinker came out the same year they were filming Star Wars, and the advent of the "new" sci-fi era... it really belongs back in the early 50's, with such "classics" as Invasion of the Green Saucer People from Another Planet. I guess this might serve as a pretty good party movie-- the guests could all get trashed and laugh their butts off at the sheer stupidity of the writing&acting.

With the exception of some of the "Washington in ruins" backdrops toward the end of the film, and maybe Ustinov's quirky character, the ONLY good thing about this movie is the wonderful score by Jerry Goldsmith-- one of the first real film composers to effectively use electronic effects merged with the usual orchestral arrangements. It would be worth it to search out this soundtrack on a cd, so's not to be distracted by the inanity of the movie itself.

Don't waste your time with this arfer. If you want to see some much better sci-fi's from that general time period, try Soylent Green, Rollerball, Planet of the Apes, or Silent Running (I won't even mention 2001-- that's in a class by itself). Hell, even Westworld and Zardoz were far better than this bit of shallow fluff.』

(WHERE ARE ALL THE EXTRAS???)
『Am I the only one who remembers the 3 Laserdisc CAV box set that came out in the late 90's with ALL THE MIRACULOUS Bonus features for Logan's Run? 100's of stills, 2 mini docs, stills and script from Deleted Scenes and a whole lot more. Warner owns the same MGM material, there's absolutely no reason for them NOT to release it on this Blu ray. Pathetic』
『Studio: Warner Home Video Release Date: 11/03/2009 Run time: 143 minutes Rating: R』
『If you can stifle the urge to laugh at its pastel unisex costumes and futuristic shopping-mall décor, this extravagant science fiction film from 1976 is still visually fascinating and provocatively entertaining. Set in the year 2274, when ecological disaster has driven civilization to the protection of domed cities, the story revolves around a society that holds a ceremonial death ritual forall citizens who reach the age of 30. In a diseaseless city where free sex is encouraged and old age is virtually unknown, Logan (Michael York) is a "sandman," one who enforces this radical method of population control (but he's about to turn 30 and he doesn't want to die). Escaping from the domed city via a network of underground passages, Logan is joined by another "runner" named Jessica (Jenny Agutter), while his former sandman partner (Richard Jordan) is determined to terminate Logan's rebellion. Using a variety of splendid matte paintings and miniatures,Logan's Runearned a special Oscar for visual effects (images of a long-abandoned Washington, D.C., are particularly impressive), and in addition to fine performances by Jordan and Peter Ustinov, the film features '70s poster babe Farrah Fawcett in a cheesy supporting role. Jerry Goldsmith's semi-electronic score is still one of the prolific composer's best, andLogan's Runremains an interesting example of '70s sci-fi that precededStar Warsby less than a year.--Jeff Shannon

(Interview with the vampire)
『I love this movie and it was in terrific shape. I am a good fan of Anne rices books.』

(Great movie but iffy picture quality in some spots)
『Interview With the Vampire is a great vampire film. It is based on the Anne Rice novel of the same title. It begins in modern day San Francisco when a reporter interviews a man who claims to be a vampire. Then the vampire begins to tell his story. Overall the film has a great plot I will not venture further into it for those who have not seen it. I would rate the film a 4.5/5 the picture quality 4/5 and audio a 4/5 overall this is a great purchase especially considering how great of a price it is at you can't go wrong.』

(scary , hilarious , thrilling , empty as a joel olsteen seminar)
『revisting this highly campy , homoerotic , wickedly decadent , lusciously lensed film revealed its' status as the funniest film of 1994 . it's a lot of dated fun with many belly laughs in the miraculously theatrical performances of all involved . we all have DAVID GEFFEN to thank for championing this expertly directed (by NEIL JORDAN) film . the hilarious script is only amplified by copious use of subtitles provided (and needed) when it comes to ANTONIO BANDERAS (nice hair wig by the way) . a huge thank you to ANNE RICE for adapting her own book and keeping it NATIONAL LAMPOON worthy . reverence of special features is priceless .』

(Interview with the Vampire)
『The DVD movie arrived in a timely manner and was in excellent condition.
I have played it and it has no skips or scratches. I am pleased.
Thank you.』

(See this movie)
『A great Vampire story-Great time periods, cast/characters-perfect, visuals-awesome, this is also a movie you can watch more than once or twice. I would say 15 and older. Not gory, just really cool movie.』
『AFTER 200 YEARS OF IMMORTALITY, A MOROSE VAMPIRE NAMED LOUIS DECIDES TO TELL A YOUNG REPORTER HIS STORY, A TALE THAT LEAVES A TRAIL OF BLOOD AND DEATH THROUGH HISTORY FROM THE 18TH CENTURY CREOLE COUNTRY TO MODERN DAY SAN FRANCISCO. SPECIAL FEATURES: SUBTITLES IN ENGLISH, FRENCH AND SPANISH AND MUCH MORE.』
『When it was announced that Tom Cruise would play the vampire Lestat in this adaptation of Anne Rice's bestselling novel, even Rice chimed in with a highly publicized objection. The author wisely and justifiably recanted her negative opinion when she saw Cruise's excellent performance, which perceptively addresses the pain and chronic melancholy that plagues anyone cursed with immortal bloodlust. Brad Pitt and Kirsten Dunst are equally good at maintaining the dark and brooding tone of Rice's novel. And in this rare mainstream project for a major studio, director Neil Jordan compensates for a lumbering plot by honoring the literate, Romantic qualities of Rice's screenplay. Considered a disappointment while being embraced by Rice's loyal followers, the movie is too slow to be a satisfying thriller, but it is definitely one of the most lavish, intelligent horror films ever made.--Jeff Shannon

『My grandson LOVES this film so much he wore out his first CD. This is the replacement.

I love it, too. The love story is endearing, especially with the wonderful music we don't get to hear very often. The background subjects, subtly shown in comedy, of super-sized meals, too much garbage and no exercise are things we should all address.

Definitely a great movie for all ages.』

(The Virtues of Wall-E far surpass some of it's story limitations)
『I must be in robot heaven (haha, I know, lame joke). With the use of CGI and today's technology, robots can really come to life like never before. Long sine the days of stop motion being used to show the first Terminator in the original movie (like most, the second one is the best to me). Or maybe it's my discovery of robots in the Transformers movies, I can't imagine why. While Terminator 2 and other robot movies still aren't dated at all, CGI can show that robots can do all kinds of things before. So leave it to Pixar to make a visually stunning blend of . Even if it is has (ugh!) love story moments.

First off, as a romance movie, it's passable. For the most part, I HATE (that's in ___________ caps for a __________ reason) romance movies, and all of their terrible, cliched, and hackenyed drawn out bull_______. In my opinion also, kissing and $#% scenes are the ultimate in third person syndrome. Wall-e had some really cringeworthy moments I thought, that made me roll my eyes, but aside from that, I'm going to have to say I didn't really mind the romantic moments as much as I do in other movies (Nicholas Sparks, ). And of course, it's way better than the classic Disney princess movies, with zero magic in their soulless trek of damnation to kill my soul. The robots themselves are all designed beautifully, as you believe that Wall-E is easy to love, EVE is sleek and has the coolest gun ever (seriously, that thing can do some damage), and the assorted robots, from Bern-E, the giant Wall-E's, and everything else, are all very memorable. Maybe the third rate Hal knockoff isn't the greatest in the world, other than that, robots everywhere, and damn cool ones at that.

However, even though there is some romantic moments, it still has plenty of Pixar greatness, as well as great entertainment, a Pixar staple. Morever, Pixar's latest is for kids and adults, like many other Pixar movies before. I'd say that this movie leans more on the adult side more than Up, Finding Nemo, or Toy Story, although there is no question kids will love this picture as well as the adults. Sure, some the humor is lame, but, for the most part, it's lighthearted story really works on many levels. People (even myself) will obviously love seeing a robot with many human qualities, romance lovers will love seeing two robots share love (meh), and some people looking for some message will love seeing the desensitization of the people on board and the effects of environmental problems. All the way being entertaining throughout.

Visually speaking, the world of Wall-E is stunning. When I first saw this in the theaters, I was pretty jaw-dropped at the barren landscape that first showed up. The world is so dry you could probably feel it on your tongue. Like many other Pixar movies, the world comes to life yet again, as that is always something Pixar does so well, is making a world believable and great to live in. MOving on from that, looking at the spaceship, it's design reminds me of the interiors in the 2001 movie, and being a fan of that look greatly, I appreciate it a lot. The spaceship actually looks pretty cool and grand, and the space scenes themselves are distant, massive, and seemingly endless, like space should be. Looking at all of their other movies, it's no wonder they are the masters of showing unique, different worlds . From a world populated by cars, toys, bugs, superheroes, sea animals, and monsters, they once again show that they do it so much better than their competitors (the "worlds" of Over the Hedge, Ice Age, and Madagascar has no imagination. *spits*).

While I was not impressed with Wall-e as I was with Ratatouille and Cars, I feel that Pixar still makes great movies. ANd while this movie is overrated in some senses, definitely not worth to be ranked within distance of Goodfellas, Taxi Driver, Seven Samurai, or Citizen Kane on the IMDB, I must say that Pixar continues to make great movies that really do so well in today's movies that are constantly released. Thank Pixar for making movies that actually stand out amongst most of the computer animated crap that is released this year.

(I Didn't Know We Had A Pool!)
『What a wonderful movie. I really didn't know quite what to make of the previews, I mean, very little dialogue to be heard, and the main leads were robots. After seeing the film, I love it. The lack of dialogue is actually a bonus, as you focus on the mannerisms and actions, however small, of the main characters, Wall-e and Eve. Visually the movie is stunning. The vistas of a barren Earth are amazing and desolate. Space is an incredible sight as well, with the best space travel scenes since Star Wars. The story has a superb point to it as well, as the eco-friendly message is very timely and to the point without being preachy. Wall-e's yearning for companionship is palpable, expressed in his repeated attempts to simply hold Eve's hand. Pixar continues to do the near-impossible, hold your attention and make you feel empathy and affection for robots and machinery. There hasn't been this sympathetic and lovable a robot character in a film since R2-D2 in Star Wars. The attention to detail is amazing. Everything is extremely well-thought out and designed. The growth and development of Pixar's art is incredible. They tell the best stories, with the absolute best in animation, on the most consistant basis. No-one can do it better, as their track record will attest. The ending is superb, with enough emotional sentimentality to catch you, without being too overdone. All in all, this is a fine film, one of the best films of the year. It certainly deserved the best animated feature oscar it received, and I think it deserved a best picture nomination as well, as it presented a timely message with enough humour and emotion to get the point across. Get this fine film and be carried away to another point in space with Wall-e.』

(Movie for the Whole Family)
『I was rather dreading taking my kids to the movies, although I had heard that the movie was "cute". I also heard that there was little to no dialog, so that made my dread even worse. As I watched the movie, I couldn't believe it...Pixar has done it again, and even better than Toy Story. I laughed and cried along with my kids, and we all found something to love about this movie. It might sound corny, but this is a fantastic family movie that everyone will enjoy - and it covered science fiction to romance. I worry about adult themes or suggestive topics, even in children's movies, but I found nothing objectionable here. Even the littlest child will be entertained, and the adults will be as well. Good job, Pixar. We're getting the 3-disk edition for Christmas this year!』

(spanish audio)
『weird thing the only thing this disc lacks is a 4 pages long spanish audio tack...』
『The highly acclaimed director ofFinding Nemoand the creative storytellers behindCarsandRatatouilletransport you to a galaxy not so far away for a new cosmic comedy adventure about a determined robot named Wall-E. After hundreds of lonely years of doing what he was built for, the curious and lovable Wall-E discovers a new purpose in life when he meets a sleek search robot named Eve. Transport yourself to a fascinating new world with Disney-Pixar's latest adventure, now even more astonishing on DVD and loaded with bonus features, including the exclusive animated short film Burn-E. Wall-E is a film your family will want to enjoy over and over again.』
『Pixar genius reigns in this funny romantic comedy, which stars a robot who says absolutely nothing for a full 25 minutes yet somehow completely transfixes and endears himself to the audience within the first few minutes of the film. As the last robot left on earth, Wall-E (voiced by Ben Burtt) is one small robot--with a big, big heart--who holds the future of earth and mankind squarely in the palm of his metal hand. He's outlasted all the "Waste Allocation Load Lifter Earth-Class" robots that were assigned some 700 years ago to clean up the environmental mess that man made of earth while man vacationed aboard the luxury spaceship Axiom. Wall-E has dutifully gone about his job compacting trash, the extreme solitude broken only by his pet cockroach, but he's developed some oddly human habits and ideas. When the Axiom sends its regularly scheduled robotic EVE probe (Elissa Knight) to earth, Wall-E is instantly smitten and proceeds to try to impress EVE with his collection of human memorabilia. EVE's directive compels her to bring Wall-E's newly collected plant sprout to the captain of the Axiom and Wall-E follows in hot pursuit. Suddenly, the human world is turned upside down and the Captain (Jeff Garlin) joins forces with Wall-E and a cast of other misfit robots to lead the now lethargic people back home to earth.Wall-Eis a great family film with the most impressive aspect being the depth of emotion conveyed by a simple robot--a machine typically considered devoid of emotion, but made so absolutely touching by the magic of Pixar animation. Also well-worth admiring are the sweeping views from space, the creative yet disturbing vision of what strange luxuries a future space vacation might offer, and the innovative use of trash in a future cityscape. Underneath the slapstick comedy and touching love story is a poignant message about the folly of human greed and its potential effects on earth and the entire human race.Wall-Eis preceded in theaters by the comical shortPrestoin which a magician's rabbit, unfed one too many times takes his revenge against the egotistical magician. Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review
(Fair to poor blu-ray, but better than DVD)
『There are a plethora of reviews of the movie, but my review is mostly a comparison of the BD vs DVD version. I won't discuss its merits as movie.

Alas, while there is substantial improvement in the video via BD's high resolution, its a disappointment compared to many other BD releases. Most video images lack sharpness. Since old movies like Battle of Britain, 2001: Space Odyssey or Clockwork Orange, can compete with recent films like Troy, its clear the folks who mastered Predator did a poor job.

Audio does not make full use of imaging although its clearer and more bombastic than the DVD, and since 5.1 Dolby only came in the 1990s, that point can be excused.

However, since Predator is sold as a discount BD disk, if you don't own it on DVD, its well worth it, but if you do, think twice, the improvements are not that stark. However, the BD made if far clearer to me the pilots were still in the chopper after it was downed, the skinned corpses of the Hopper team appear more detailed and ghastly, there is more oomph in the assault on the rebel scene due to the improved sound, you can see the rounds in the mini-gun zip through the gun and its clear how its fed through the backpack ammo case, you can make out the MTV t-shirt throughout most of Jesse Ventura's scenes, you can make out where the commandos were hit by the predator, which was vague on the DVD. So overall, its an improvement, and worth 3 stars.

(Proper Blu-Ray upgrade, please ?)
『The movie itself is great. Won't bother you with all the details, because you're well aware of them, of course. I'm waiting for a proper blu-ray edition, one that takes advantage of the format. This one doesn't. The studio's blu-ray version insults my intelligence. 'Nuff said.』

(This is the real king of the jungle!)
『Even though I slightly prefer the sequel, the original is still creepy and entertaining. Here we are introduced to the "Predator," an alien hunter who has crash-landed in the jungles of Central America. Little is known about this strange species; only that it'll kick your @** if you get in his way. Add in Arnold Schwarzenegger and his team of soldiers and you've got a bitter conflict between human and alien. I got to say that this is one of the few movies in which Arnold gives a very good performance. You get to see him in some well-done action sequences. The supporting cast is good as well: who would have thought that Jesse Ventura could act? The action is solid; the blood and gore aren't very excessive, but they're still tons to see. And of course, the "Predator" is the real star in this film; that, and the special effects (which still looks realistic today).』

(Not exact but okay)
『Ths item was posted as 'Widescreen' version but was not. Arrived quick and in listed good condition but thought I was getting what was shown as something it wasn't.

(Arnold is something else)
『Made when Arnold still had a great deal of muscle to spare. This movie, like a lot of science fiction, assumes aliens will be a hostile group. Those races that make it to space would have the intelligence and capacity to engage new races more amicably than depicted. How else would such a race even reach the level of achieving the ability to travel in space unless they had learned to live in peace. Otherwise they would not have lasted long enough to do so.

『The ultimate hunter meets the ultimate adversary... in the ultimate Collector's Edition DVD! Arnold Schwarzenegger wages an all-out war against an unseen enemy, a force more powerful and deadly than any on Earth-because the Predator is not of this Earth. Now, you can explore the depths of the Predator jungle with this all-new 2-disc set packed with over 5 hours of out-of-this-world extras, including an in-depth documentary, director's commentary, never-before-seen bonus footage, revealing featurettes and more!』
RambomeetsAlienin this terrific science-fiction thriller from 1987, directed by John McTiernan just a year beforeDie Hardmade him Hollywood's most sought-after director of action-packed blockbusters. Arnold Schwarzenegger leads an elite squad of U.S. Army commandos to a remote region of South American jungle, where they've been assigned to search for South American officials who've been kidnapped by terrorists. Instead they find a bunch of skinned corpses hanging from the trees and realize that they're now facing a mysterious and much deadlier threat. As the squad is picked off one by one, Arnold finds himself pitted against a hideous alien creature that's heavily armed and wearing a spacesuit enabling the creature to render itself invisible. The title says it all in describing the relentless, escalating action that follows, maintained by McTiernan with an abundance of visual flair. The film's special effects are still impressive, and stunning locations in the Mexican jungles create a combined atmosphere of verdant beauty and imminent danger. The plot doesn't hold up to much scrutiny, but the movie's so exciting and tightly paced that its weaknesses seem irrelevant.--Jeff Shannon
