(It just wasn't good)
『9 was one of the worst movies I've paid money to see on the big screen, and I'm glad I only devoted 80 minutes to it. Even so, it took every bit of will power I had in me to not walk out of the theater.

Granted, I didn't hate it... it didn't offend me, although I felt gypped. The animation is not as mind-blowing as people have said. At least, no more mind-blowing than anything Pixar has put out.

The biggest problem with 9 is the writing. Most of the lines in the film are cliche to the extent of being hilariously bad -- just as laughable as the cliche little personalities of the characters 1 through 9. I was literally laughing out loud when I think I should have been... I dunno... moved? Crying? Hiding my tears in order to seem tough?

You have one character that repeats the same cryptic line, "Go back to the source! Go back to the source," like some kind of jerk. And that's JUST the thing with this movie -- without giving too much away about the plot or how the movie ends -- the characters are very one-dimensional. They each have their own way of responding to things, and they never develop, change, or progress throughout the movie. I feel as though the writer is trying too hard to emphasize each character's uniqueness, and it becomes overkill after not-too-long. Only at the conclusion of the movie does it become apparent why the writer wrote for each of the characters in this way. Until then, the movie is frustrating to watch. I think it would have been less frustrating if the "big reveal" at the end was part of the plot all along. At least then I could empathize with the characters instead of becoming irritated.

Some people (either on IMDB or here on Amazon -- I don't remember) said that the viewer just needed to think about what was being said, etc. That's fine&dandy, but really, this is one movie that I just didn't find to be very profound. There is no gap in my understanding of the plot, believe you, me. I just think it could have been written much better.』

(A little shore but great story)
『Its quite interesting how 9 little things can do so much, the story is quite toutching and entertaining, it was kind of shore but overall great story!』

(A largely misunderstood but very average animation)
『Released on 9/9/09, 9 is computer animated film about 9 rag dolls, the sole "survivors" of a war-ravaged alternate universe, given life through a magical talisman invented by an aged scientist. Termed "stitchpunk" by its fans, it blends the aesthetics of a steampunk world (resembling WWII-era Western Europe) with science fiction, action, and some mysticism/ancient metaphysics. At 80 minutes, it is short.

Yes, the CG-work is absolutely fantastic and masterfully crafted, but what about the story? The story of technology turning against us is a familiar one. A well-meaning scientist invents an artificially intelligent robot capable of creating other machines, but it is soon made to create machines of war by an evil chancellor. World war starts, and the machines soon start exterminating humanity. The art direction is taken directly from Nazi-era Germany, depicting a corrupt and technology-obsessed military regime, complete with red, white, and black flags and insignias. The robot walkers are shaped like German infantry helmets. This part of the story is shown way too quickly, only as a flashback and a film news reel lasting a few minutes. More time could've been spent explaining this plot element and why the machines started killing all of mankind, and the resistance against them. There is not enough story development here and I feel this is a real weakness of the film. It's presented as a given that the machines just took over and destroyed the world, without showing you the protracted struggle against them by military forces.

Instead, all we know is the world is destroyed somehow and all that's left are the dolls and some machines hunting them down. What follows is one battle scene or chase after another as they try to find sanctuary. They're cool battle sequences with some fantastic mechanical design, but they don't flesh out the characters. I would've liked to see how they survived during the war before 9 came.

9 didn't do very well at the box office or with critics, and I can see perhaps why. Maybe it was the mishandled marketing strategy that left people confused. Some viewers mistook the film as being directed or designed by Tim Burton and were disappointed, an easy thing to do from casually glancing at the movie poster and seeing his name in big letters at the top, or because of the Oogie Boogie-like (doll 8). Being a first-time feature director, few moviegoers have heard of Shane Acker and the marketers tried to ride Burton's coattails and to a lesser extent, Russian director, Timur Bekmambetov's (Wanted, Daywatch, Night Watch).

Maybe it was CG fatigue on the part of the audience, who are tired of the endless streams of CG animations every year. Certainly, the movie poster didn't do anything to pique my interest or differentiate it from a sea of other CG/sci-fi films produced every year. Because of its apocalyptic wasteland setting and artificial lifeforms, some people also unfairly compared the film to Wall-E. And for its ragdolls and dark vision, 9 suffered comparisons to Coraline as well (from steampunk icon Neil Gaiman). Or maybe it was just the character design of the dolls. 9 looks like Sack Boy from the popular PS3 game LittleBigPlanet, right down to the zipper and burlap cloth texture, but he's not cute at all. This film is definitely not for kids. All the dolls are a bit creepy looking. For example, 5 has a metal plate sewn over half his head from a wound. We have dark, apocalyptic landscapes, and depictions of humans getting mowed down and gassed by the machines. Half of the dolls die in the film, shown in a visually disturbing manner. We also see their corpses.

All in all, 9 is a competently produced and highly detailed world, but the alone doesn't sell the story, which is just a notch above average. Voice acting is done very well, with the exception of a dull John C. Riley. Worth a look if you like dark sci-fi and action-filled animation, but otherwise totally skippable.

3.5/5』

(Great Film)
『This was a great movie that kind of came and went in a flash in theaters.

The tone is dark and apocalyptic but the story is engaging with enough fantasy elements to keep the wonder factor high.

9 revolves around an world where a ruthless dictatorship straight out of 1984 has unleashed thinking machines that have touched off a war with humanity. During which, apparently, all of mankind has been wiped out. However one scientist was able to create a set of dolls and infuse them with his spirit and they are all that is left of us as a species.

The machines still hunt through the ruins looking for enemies to destroy and these living dolls are on the menu. But when doll #9 finally awakens, it may be time for the status quo to change.

I really enjoyed this film and recommend it highly. I would say the film is suitable for teens and older. There's nothing of a graphic nature but the themes and tone is a bit dark for younger tastes. All in all an enjoyable way to spend a couple of hours.』

(Great Movie. Nevermind the People Who Got Bored and Felt 9 Was Rushed or Anti-Climactic.)
『WARNING: I'm about to spoil a message at the ending of the movie, 9. I've moved my old review hear because the theatrical release site got deleted.

The scene when the souls of 1, 2, 5, 6 and 8 leave to the sky and burst into the clouds to make it rain, you would see omoebas forming from the inside of the rain drops. That simply is telling you 1, 2, 5, 6 and 8 are starting evolution and life all over again. Its an amusing scene to watch and intriguing. Makes you think for yourself.

9 is visually stunning. Its a post-apocalyptic world of machines turning against humanity and slowly killing every human being on the planet. One scientist is left to create 9 rag dolls. The machines (B.R.A.I.N., stands for Binary Reactive Artifcially Intelligent Neurocircuit) were originally created by humanity to serve peace and protect them but the government forced the Scientists to let them use it for war, and that eventually went beyond B.R.A.I.N.'s limits and the machines turned against them slowly killing every human being on the planet, leaving the last Scientist to transfer his life force into 9 rag dolls to save humanity from total extinction (Scientist's voiced by Alan Oppemheimer).

A Talisman is a device the Scientist (voiced by Alan Oppemheimer) created so that it would collect the souls (spirits, or alive energy) from the stitchpunks (rag dolls). Its the device that has those 3 cryptic symbols on it and it glows green if there are souls traped inside. The scientist explains to 9 (voiced by Elijah Wood) how the talisman works in this movie. I hope this explains a little more about what is going on in 9.

1 (voiced by Christopher Plummer)
2 (voiced by Martin Landau)
3&4 are unable to speak so there is no voice overs for these characters.
5 (voiced by John C. Reilly)
6 (voiced by Crispin Glover)
7 (voiced by Jennifer Connelly. The only female of the 9 rag-dolls)
8 (voiced by Fred Tatasciore)
9 (voiced by Elijah Wood)

9 the movie might be a little too short for some people. Its run-time is approx 80 minutes. Although all the visuals are well crafted and unique then other filmaking's vision of the extinction of humanity. The machines are well made as well and can be too scary for children ages 7 and up (or maybe not, I have underestimated children because some of them do enjoy these half scary and action/PG-13 movies and 9 is actually a fairly clean movie). There are good reasons for 9 to be rated PG-13. Its rated PG-13 for Violence and Scary Images. Its rated 12A in the U.K. by BBFC for Moderate Sustained Threat. Overall, 9 the movie is amazing to me and can be amazing for other people if they like these post-apocalypic/extinction futuristic movies. Personally, I am giving 9 a full price. Its exciting, amusing and it will make you think for yourself near the ending of this film. 9 is not boring at all, I don't understand whats all the complaining about. Yea, so what if there was an attraction with 7 (Jennifer Connelly) and 9 (Elijah Wood), Honestly, I don't care. Yes, they don't have private parts. I don't think they were meant to. The ending of this movie fits well together if thats you understand what Omoebas are. If you don't like movies that make you think, you are better off not seeing this. I thought 9 was one of the best movies of the year, the visuals of the crafted machines and what would happen if humanity become extinct visuals is amazing to watch alone. Full price movie all the way.

I almost forgot to say something else. The reason why all these Stitchpunk characters has no background stories is because they were just born in this movie. The only background story is the Scientist who gave life to the 9 stitchpunks and when the machines turn against humanity, that was it. If you don't understand, then you just don't get it. Not my problem. Watch the ending of this movie carefully without any high expectations because I think thats the biggest downfall of the audience and what leads them into hating the movie. Its not anti-climactic at all, people were simply expecting the movie to satisfy what they wanted to see from it. 9 is still a fantastic film as it is. But I am not truely forcing ANYBODY to understand this film. I can understand if its not really your cup of tea. I did like it a lot better when I was learning all the emotions of the 9 stitchpunks because it made the movie look more original and fun that way. The message at the end was not so harsh or disturbing. It was actually more interesting. Again, people just expected way too much from Shane Acker's latest creation. Again, 9 was an excellent film. If you are looking for something with a lot of background stories, then you should skip this movie completely because everyone who had the same expectations end up hating the movie. Though if you are looking for an original post-apocalypic film about the extinction of humanity that has no limits or rules, then 9 is for you.』

『From visionary filmmakers Tim Burton (The Nightmare Before Christmas) and Timur Bekmambetov (Wanted) and Academy Award®-nominated director Shane Acker comes this visually stunning and original epic adventure. In the final days of humanity, a dedicated scientist gives the spark of life to nine of his creations. The world has turned into an unrecognizable landscape of machines and spare parts, but this group of nine finds that if they band together, their small community might just be able to change the course of history. Featuring the voice talents of Elijah Wood, John C. Reilly, Jennifer Connelly and Crispin Glover, it’s a thrilling, suspenseful story critics call “richly imaginative.” (Peter Travers, Rolling Stone)』
『Nine small rag dolls, stitched together from burlap and clock workings and lenses, are all that stands in the way of the world being overtaken by the Machines. Actually, as9begins, it looks like the Machines have already had their way with Earth: this is one of those post-apocalyptic landscapes without life, hope, or sunlight. Clearly9director Shane Acker is willing to make an animated film that doesn't soar with Disney colors or Pixar cheer--in fact, main characters are killed off before the movie's halfway through. Our hero is 9 (voiced by Elijah Wood), so dubbed for the number on his back; after awakening to very confused consciousness, he bumps into other puppet survivors, such as the imperious 1 (Christopher Plummer), the warrior-like 7 (Jennifer Connelly), and the one-eyed comic sidekick 5 (John C. Reilly). They do battle with the Machines in a relentless (and eventually monotonous) series of battles, and the exploding hardware and endless warfare has a tendency to crowd out whatever character development might have been set up in the opening minutes. No question the movie's design is impressive, and the characters have a wonderfully expressive quality at first. But at some point it seems the Machines have taken over the moviemaking here, with tedious results.--Robert Horton

(How can you Apparate that far off!!!)
『Why do I even hope any more. this movie is just the same as the third one except with a different story and a new director to blame. GET THIS IN YOUR HEAD YOU CANNOT MAKE A MOVIE WITH JUST SPECIAL EFFECTS. This movie left so much out agin including Hermione's fledgling organization S.P,E,W, I wouldn't have minded this because Hermione's annoying but it seems the makers are so dicriminate of house elves that they have excluded them from the movie with Dobby's contribution to the story replace with Neville. The Yule Ball was awful with a short dance sequence and no reference to giants. Rita Skeeter has short appearences but they seem to have no effect on the story except making Hermione angry and there was nothing about her being an Animagus which was a needed point for the next movie. Sirius also has very little screen time only being a bunch of coals talking because the directors want to purposely overcomplicate things as to show off their wonderful special effects. The story again goes too fast excluding the Quidditch World Cup scene which introduced Viktor Krum. Actually it seems like the makers are being lazy and excluding Quidditch purposely just to give their poor animators a break so they can focus on making coals form a face and having spell fights. Now it seems like Dumbledore has transformed from a wizened wizard to a child molestor as he takes Snape's line and cue's and makes them his. The parts of the story that are excluded are mentioned instead of actually shown, clever I think not! don't get me wrong the book was excellent but it seems like they just want to show you one part and then the other and as someone mentioned before, if you blink you'll miss something. Anyways again I'm dissapointed, GET IT RIGHT PEOPLE. Another two hours of my life I'll never get back!』

(great experience, love movie)
『Being one of the biggest Harry Potter fan on the planet, I really enjoyed the movie....glad I found it.』

(Consistently Getting Better)
『Up to the point when this movie was originally released, this was the best out of the four. Being one of the longest books in the series, it was plainly clear to me that a lot was going to get cut out. In fact, pretty much all of the sub-plots are gone, making Harry (of course) the focus of the film instead of going into these pointless directions. For those who haven't read the books and have only seen the films, I don't find it necessary that we see Hermione preaching about the rights of house elves, Harry living at the Dursleys (I think after three movies, the audience gets that they're cruel to him) and the Weasleys taking him for the summer and the Quidditch World Cup. Much like my complaint about Ian Fleming describing eighteen excruciating holes of golf in Goldfinger and the movie version trimming it to the last two holes, you can't expect an audience to sit around and watch and still find the main story interesting. Another prime example of sub-plot cutting is Peter Jackson's adaptations of three LOTR books. If he had included Tom Bombadil's scenes, the audience would probably be still be watching Fellowship for at least another hour. Now that that rant's over, lets move on to the cast. Main cast is still excellent, and now they've finally discovered the opposite sex, which leads to some humorous moments and a stunning entrance by Hermione at the Yule Ball definitely made Harry and Ron's heads turn. Ralph Fiennes, who is practically unrecognizable under Voldemort's make-up (maybe he still feels ashamed for The Avengers), just oozes evil and I detect a hint of elegance in the character. Action sequences are some of the best though the dragon scene does drag a little but the fight with Voldemort is an exciting one. Patrick Doyle picks up the music department in this and, though ably picks up Williams' themes, adds his own touch to the franchise, making this a better score than the first two and just slightly better than the third.』

(i love this movie i think its the best 1!)
『i love this movie i think its the most intertaining one , i think this movie is better than the others made by far i love all harry potter movies but i think this one is my favorite also i have never read any of the books so i dont know what im missing i have heard that the books are way better they probably are but i still love the harry potter movies! i think they should be longer and include more information but i like!』

(Greatest hits version of the book)
『Goblet of Fire was a pretty long book. In fact, it was the longest book I had ever read at the time that it came out back inn 2000. The movie came out five years later, and we all knew that things were going to wind up getting cut. Especially after the third one left so much out. The movie moves very quickly and doesn't really bother itself with filling in the audience with certain important plot details (priori incantatum, for instance), but the movie is really fun and will definetly keep you entertained.』
『When Harry Potter's name emerges from the Goblet of Fire, he becomes a competitor in a grueling battle for glory among three wizarding schools - the Triwizard Tournament. But since Harry never submitted his name for the Tournament, who did? Now Harry must confront a deadly dragon, fierce water demons and an enchanted maze only to find himself in the cruel grasp of He Who Must Not Be Named. In this fourth film adaptation of J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter series, everything changes as Harry, Ron and Hermione leave childhood forever and take on challenges greater than anything they could have imagined.』
『The latest entry in theHarry Pottersaga could be retitledFast Times at Hogwarts, where finding a date to the winter ball is nearly as terrifying as worrying about Lord Voldemort's return. Thus, the young wizards' entry into puberty (and discovery of the opposite sex) opens up a rich mining field to balance out the dark content in the fourth movie (and the stories are only going to get darker). Mike Newell (Four Weddings and a Funeral) handily takes the directing reins and eases his young cast through awkward growth spurts into true young actors. Harry (Daniel Radcliffe, more sure of himself) has his first girl crush on fellow student Cho Chang (Katie Leung), and has his first big fight with best bud Ron (Rupert Grint). Meanwhile, Ron's underlying romantic tension with Hermione (Emma Watson) comes to a head over the winter ball, and when she makes one of those girl-into-woman Cinderella entrances, the boys' reactions indicate they've all crossed a threshold.

But don't worry, there's plenty of wizardry and action inGoblet of Fire. When the deadly Triwizard Tournament is hosted by Hogwarts, Harry finds his name mysteriously submitted (and chosen) to compete against wizards from two neighboring academies, as well as another Hogwarts student. The competition scenes are magnificently shot, with much-improved CGI effects (particularly the underwater challenge). And the climactic confrontation with Lord Voldemort (Ralph Fiennes, in a brilliant bit of casting) is the most thrilling yet.Goblet, the first installment to get a PG-13 rating, contains some violence as well as disturbing images for kids and some barely shrouded references at sexual awakening (Harry's bath scene in particular). The 2 1/2-hour film, lean considering it came from a 734-page book, trims out subplots about house-elves (they're not missed) and gives little screen time to the standard crew of the otherPotterfilms, but adds in more of Britain's finest actors to the cast, such as Brendan Gleeson as Mad-Eye Moody and Miranda Richardson as Rita Skeeter. Michael Gambon, in his second round as Professor Dumbledore, still hasn't brought audiences around to his interpretation of the role he took over after Richard Harris died, but it's a small smudge in an otherwise spotless adaptation.--Ellen A. Kim

『If you are a Mickey fan you'll like this DVD. This DVD never fails to put me and my kids in the Chrismas spirit』

(Gives the idea there is no Santa....)
『Why would Disney think it is ok to give the idea there is no Santa. Gives a 7 year old the idea maybe there isn't after all, who was watching the movie with her 4 year old sister. I frankly was mortified. I tried to turn it off, but they insisted to continue. True magically wonder lasts for such a short time in a lifetime, why even try to cut it short? It's short enough as it is.』

(Cute movie)
『I first saw this movie about 10 years ago when I was in the seventh grade. All day the day we were getting out for Christmas break we watched movies. I watched this movie in my last class for the day and I remember thinking when I watched it that it was cute. After that I couldn't find it until this past year. I was so glad to find it on DVD. I highly recommend this dvd to anyone who loves Mickey Mouse. I think that even if you don't like Mickey Mouse you'll like this dvd.』

(Great for an Early Christmas Gift)
『Our 3 1/2 yr. old grandson is Mickey's biggest fan. He loved this. (So did I). How can you go wrong with a Disney item? It certainly gets the little ones in the spirit for the Christas holiday. When looking for anything...I first go to Amazon.com.....because that is where I always end up purchasing. They have the best prices, many times free shipping, quick service,&never have to return their items. I even give gift cards as gifts from Amazon.com, because the recipient can get anything at Amazon.com.』

(New Holiday "classic")
『My kids received this on Christmas and wanted it on all day. :) They loved it. The stories are also great to bring up later after the holidays, especially when my daughter and son get the "I want thats" I'll bring up how Donald's nephews wanted Christmas all year and even they got tired of it after awhile.』
『Disney's biggest stars shine in a magical, heartwarming movie sure to become a holiday classic! Mickey, Minnie, and their famous friends Goofy, Donald, Daisy, and Pluto gather to reminisce about love, magic, and surprises in three wonder-filled stories of Christmas past. In the fine tradition of Disney's superb storytelling, Minnie and Mickey recall the year they both gave up what was most important to them for the sake of the other, making for one unforgettable Christmas. Goofy and Max retell when they experienced a series of hilarious but season-shaking events ... until a visit from the real Santa made it a most magical holiday. Thinking back to when they wished Christmas was every day, Donald's nephews Huey, Dewey, and Louie remember their dream turning into a comical catastrophe, eventually teaching them what true holiday spirit is all about. Featuring the entire cast in a finale of merry, magical Christmas songs -- all the excitement of MICKEY'S ONCE UPON A CHRISTMAS is ready to unwrap for holiday family fun!』
『Donald Duck's nephews learn why holidays come once a year, Goofy and son discover the spirit of Santa, and Mickey and Minnie reenact a classic tale of giving in this all-new holiday offering. Kelsey Grammer (TV'sFrasier) narrates as Donald hosts Christmas at his house, complete with an egg and pancake breakfast, a sled for each duckling in the closet, and Daisy under the mistletoe. But the celebration gets old fast when the boys' wish for Christmas every day comes true. Next up, Goofy's son wonders whether there is a Santa after the villainous Pete tells him there's not and he catches Dad impersonating the portly gift-giver. Goofy demonstrates the spirit of giving by taking a meal and presents to less-fortunate neighbors, and many Goofy-style mishaps later, father and son have a surprise visitor. In the third story, the mouse lovebirds give an updated spin to O. Henry's "The Gift of the Magi," with Minnie having the heirloom watch with no chain and Mickey a harmonica with no case. This trio of Christmas stories adds up to an hour of heartfelt fun, capped off by the gang singing "Jingle Bells." Perfect holiday cheer for those 4 and up.--Kimberly Heinrichs

A descent movie, will give a B+. Comparible to the 1st, not quite as good, definitely not as good as 2nd (Evolution).』
Underworld: Rise of the Lycansdelves into the origins of the centuries-old blood feud between the aristocratic vampires, known as Death Dealers, and the barbaric Lycans (werewolves). A young Lycan, Lucian (Michael Sheen), emerges as a powerful leader who rallies the werewolves to rise up against Viktor (Bill Nighy), the cruel vampire king who has persecuted them for hundreds of years. Lucian is joined by his secret lover, the beautiful vampire Sonja (Rhona Mitra), in his battle to free the Lycans from their brutal enslavement.』
『This prequel to Len Wiseman’sUnderworldandUnderworld: Evolutionis distinctively different, especially minus the nimble vampire warrior star, Selene (Kate Beckinsale).Underworld: Rise of the Lycanstakes its cues from the vampire/werewolf battles that occur in the other films, but director Patrick Tatopoulos focuses here on the young werewolf Lucian's (Michael Sheen) rise to leadership.Rise of the Lycansis set mostly within the walls of vampire lord Viktor’s (Bill Nighy) castle, so the film’s silver, black, and blue palette reflects a world happening under moonlight. From the outset, when Viktor brings Lucian, the first werewolf, into the world, this villainous bloodsucker’s daughter, Sonja (Rhona Mitra), is smitten with Lucian’s hairy appearance and instinctual intelligence. As years pass, Lucian grows tired of watching his race suffer slavery and imprisonment, and recruits a human named Raze (Kevin Grevioux) to assist rebellion. This archetypal plot is not so riveting, and what carriesUnderworld: Rise of the Lycansare the battle scenes between vampires and werewolves, which are excitingly fast-paced and brutal. The whole film adopts a medieval battlefield aesthetic that carries an otherwise clichéd story about illicit love and freedom fighting. Some characters, like the traitor vampire Tannis (Steven Mackintosh), also intrigues throughout, as one guesses who he will ally with.Underworld: Rise of the Lycansmay not be the finest film in the werewolf and vampire archives independently, but its mixed monstrosity makes it unique and entertaining, especially on a big screen.--Trinie Dalton

(Loved it!)
『I video taped this on VHS when it first came out on tv. I was so happy when it went to DVD. I love it! I watch it every Christmas, religiously. It's a great reminder to not just let life pass us by but to actually live it, to actually reach out and help people instead of getting so comfortable in our lives that we never step beyond ourselves.』

Ruby becomes the nanny for a family mourning the loss of their mother. The father has become a workaholic and the children feel neglected. Her mission is to bring this family together. This is a cute Christmas movie for the whole family.』

(The definitive Christmas Carol, marked by emotion and touted by the Christmas spirit)
『A Christmas Carol (1938) directed by Edwin L. Marin, based on the novel by Charles Dickens, written for the screen by Hugo Butler.

Starring: Reginald Owen as Ebenezer Scrooge
Reginald Owen was not set to play this part until his long time friend Lionel Barrymore had to cancel his part as Scrooge because of sickness. Fate had other plans it seems.

We all know the story: Mean man Scrooge humbugs his way through life eschewing Christmas as if it was a nagging sore that rooted itself more deeply each year, that he could not get away from. It seems everyone under the moonlight was celebrating this holiday called Christmas, with global cheer and good will. Scrooge, who had been bittered and shriveled through a life without love, and without forgiveness, was a man of business, of rules, and of ascetic necessity. He did not know happiness and he wished that anyone he came across would keep the optimism away from him, especially a man he worked for named Bob Cratchit, played wonderfully by Gene Lockhart (whom made this film with his wife and daughter).

Bob Cratchit counted on Scrooge for his survival and the well being(or living) for his family. Bob oozed with altruism and obsequiousness, and Scrooge knew this, turning his blind eye to it as much as he could till one a Christmas Eve Bob, having fun with the local kids, unintentionally threw a glittering white snowball at Scrooge as he passed. Upon finding this out, Scrooge fired him. Cratchit walked home that night on Christmas Eve holding his dignity in his hand and left his confidence in the melting snow that was stepped on by Scrooge himself. He wanted this night to be a night for his children and family, selflessly not revealing to them what had happened just moments prior.

Everyone who is a fan of Charles' Dickens A Christmas Carol knows how the story plays out, with some tweaks in different film adaptations here and there, knowing the moral that Scrooge learns at the end of this fateful Christmas night.

What I find different in this film than all the others out there is in the characters that are portrayed wonderfully by the cast of actors here. Scrooge is a bitter, curt, presumptuously crass old man while Reginald Owen poses the look of those qualities perfectly. He grumbles his way through the night and humbugs all who try to help him. You can see the years of misery on his face. As the ghosts progress through the night, you can sense and see the gradual inclination towards redemption and hope that he expresses with nothing but a slight opening of an eye that had been squinted from a life of lost passion and lost love, all with a little dribble of a tear down his left eye. I like how Owen grows as the film goes on and we see this happening before our eyes, as the audience, and I don't think it has been matched since. Owen makes the film for me and till this day I have not been filled with as much saving grace for this character than the 1938's version of Ebenezer Scrooge. It is my definitive version and hopefully with a little Christmas cheer, will be yours for years to come in this ageless timeless film.』

(A Christmas gem!)
『Great service. great movie. Our holidays will be a little more "spirit" filled. Thank you.』

(Christmas Carol)
『My favorite version of this movie have it on VHS and wanted a copy on DVD. Amazon is a better place to get movies than BB.』

(Excellent story)
『I have retired this since I got it one DVD. I put a few miles on it before I retired it. I recommend it.』

(The Best!)
『This is my favorite Christmas Carol. It is so true to the original story. I have many versions and this by far is the best.』
『A classic that's as integral a part of Christmas as lighted trees and mistletoe. Reginald Owen and Gene Lockhart star in this rewarding holiday treat.』
『This 1938 MGM version of the Dickens classic is not the most rewarding of the various adaptations (that honor goes to Biran Desmond Hurst's 1951 film, starring Alistair Sim), but it has a strong if narrow performance by Reginald Owen as the miser Ebenezer Scrooge. Directed by Edward L. Marin, the movie is stiffer and less imaginative than it ought to be, but there are some compensations in the supporting cast, including Leo G. Carroll, and the film debut of little June Lockhart.--Tom Keogh

(X-Men aims to please and does!)
『It was an ambitious undertaking to do justice to this fantastical comic book franchise from the fertile mind of Stan Lee and company but I think all things considered, the producers got it pretty spot on.
Patrick Stewart is Prof.Xavier who runs a school for mutants. He has the power of super mind control and through his Cerebro chamber he can reach both humans and mutants at will, anywhere in e world. His counterpart and the running villan through all of these films is Magneto played by Ian McKellan. While Xavier prefers the non-violent solution to living with humans,Magneto prefers the path of direct confrontation and overthrow, leading to world domination(what villain doesn't?).
Each movie has its' strengths and weaknesses of course but I think the series goes from strongest to weakest in the order they were made. The first two were directed by Brian Singer and the first movie is a slam-bam winner all the way.The introduction of characters and side plots never interfere with the telling of the story.X2 slows down slightly as we get intro'd to some new characters and lose one in the end.Overall it's not as satisfying as the first but still good. The last was helmed by Brett Ratner. While some blame must go to the director for its' comparative lacklustre execution,Last Stand is just too ambitious,i.e it tried to do too much. There seems to be more plots,sub-plots,back stories and character introductions than the previous two put together. This slows the pace down as all strings endeavour to be tied and every "T" dotted, while the action has to stop or slow down to do so.
What doesn't vary throughout all these movies however are the special effects. There is no shortage of action in any of these films and the special effects are, overall, quite seemless and very effective and engaging. No complaints whatsoever.
Technically the DVDs have all been transferred beautifully and all are in their widescreen glories.Disc one has a myriad of special features such as so called "branching" scenes(extra scenes filmed but not included originally),a Charlie Rose interview, the Hugh Jackman screen test,a featurette, story boards, art gallery, animatronics, the trailer and some TV spots(phew!).Disc two has only a commentary track(which I found very odd)and it is to be found in,of all places, the "languages" section ! Disc three has director commentary, producer commentary, numerous deleted scenes and three alternate endings.
The DVD cases themselves are the newer cheaper kind snap cases that alot of the "big boys" are using now.Instead of the inner case being solid plastic, one side has a recycle sign cut into it and the side the disc sits in is spoke like, radiating out from the spindle. The spaces existing on both sides reveal the back side of the outer descriptive paper cover.
Of course there will be X-men-iacs who will find countless faults with these movies as far as characterizations and continuity from the long running comic book series. But for most casual readers and uninitiated(to X-men)Sci-Fi/action lovers,I think you will be quite pleased with the overall result produced here.Creator Stan Lee himself had his hand in this series all the way so some modicum of accuracy to his "child" had to have been extant.
As a sidebar Fox has produced a Wolverine back story recently but it remains to be seen if anymore movies will be forthcoming from them re the X-Men,as the franchise rights will revert back to the hands of its' new owners,The Disney Corp.in a few years.Marvel also has some property deals going with Paramount and Sony which will also revert back eventually. It's amazing just how much product Disney will ultimately control with its'Marvel acquistion.Who would have thought that a little comic book company called Marvel would grow that big and be bought in the future for an approximate cool $4 BILLION(!).The mind does boggle.
This set is definitely worth owning, not only as the generally good films they are,but if only for its' price as it would cost you much more to but them individually. All the special features included on them sperately are all here in this set.So if you have been hedging whether to buy I would urge you to drop your nickel now when the price is right and get yourself a VERY entertaining trio of great Sci-Fi flicks courtesy of comic writer supremo,Stan Lee.』

(Good for the price I payed)
『This came at a very reasonabe price for what it was, and it shipped quickly. I chose standard shipping and had it within the week. The only flaws I noticed- the box was a little worn around the edges, and disk 1 tends to freeze at one point in the film. I cleaned the disk and the problem appears to be resolved. All in all, very satisfied.』

Episode Description: Disc 1: X-Men: The Last Stand Disc 2: X2 Disc 3: X-Men』
X-Men: The Last Standis the third installment in the popular superhero franchise, and it's an exciting one with a splash of fresh new characters. When a scientist named Warren Worthington II announces a "cure" for mutant powers, it raises an interesting philosophical question: is mutant power a disease that needs a cure, or is it a benefit thathomo superiorenjoys over "normal" human beings? No surprise that Magneto (Ian McKellen) and his Brotherhood of Evil Mutants resist the idea that they need to be cured, and declare war on the human race. But it's a little tougher for the X-Men, led by Professor X (Patrick Stewart), Cyclops (James Marsden), and Storm (Halle Berry). If you're Rogue (Anna Paquin), for example, your power means you can't even touch your boyfriend, Iceman (Shawn Ashmore). To compound matters, someone previously thought dead has returned, and might be either friend or foe.

With director Bryan Singer having moved on toSuperman Returns, the franchise passes to the hands of Brett Ratner (Rush Hour), whose best work is done in the big action sequences such as a showdown between mutant armies. But it's difficult to manage the sheer volume of characters when adding longtime comic-book stalwarts such as Beast (Kelsey Grammer) and Angel (Ben Foster), and one character in particular deserved better than an off-screen dismissal. And fans of the original Dark Phoenix comic book story might be underwhelmed by the movie's resolution.X-Men: The Last Standis presumably the last film in the series, but the ambiguous ending leaves possibilities open. Look for the two writers most responsible for making the X-Men who they were, Stan Lee and Chris Claremont, in early cameos.--David Horiuchi

(One of the best movies of 2009)
『Sometimes, the timing of a movie's release is more important to its success than the movie's content itself. This may help explain the success, or lack there-of, of this movie. Released in early 2009, it quickly fell of the big theater chains and ended up in the cheap matinees. It received zero Academy Award nominations, and barely registered a blip when released on DVD. How so? The movie has an innovative plot, features a large cast of good actors and actresses, has both male and female leads and supporting roles, has good special effects, and is appropriate for almost all age groups.』

(A good light hearted movie. Would have madea better TV series.)
『I would recommand this movie to anyone that is in need of a good light hearted story. Performances from all actors are fantastic. Helen Mirren and Paul Bettany steal every scene they`re in. The story however feels all over the place. As other reviwers have mention, "Inkheart" had all the makings for great movie, a very talented cast, a good concept, set designs, and effects. The list could relly go on, but the story of "Inkheart" could have used more time to tell it`s story, rather than a mere 100 mins.

I will admit if it was not for this movie I would have never heard of Cornelia Funke or her books.

I just started reading the original book and I can honestly say this would been a great mini-series or an actural tv series. Saying that, if any network decided to do a series for Inkheart, I `d pity the actor filling the shoes of Dustfinger after Mr. Bettany `s performance.

(Wonderful family movie)
『What an incredible movie! Parents, kids, aunts, uncles, grandparents... we all enjoyed it. In fact, it started us on an adventure of reading, especially of Cornelia Funke's books. Hope they make the whole trilogy into movies.

Highly recommend any audio book versions that Brendan Frasier reads. He is truly versatile, with an amazing repertoire of voices and accents.』

(Really, what do you expect?)
『The child liked it. The mom and the dad (me) enjoyed making fun of it. It was everything that I expected.

It is hard to imagine the plot of the movie having been put together by a functional adult. My only question is whether the story's dreadfulness was due to the book or the adaptation.』

(Inkheart)
『This is a great film for the whole family. Encourage your kids to read the book or read the book with your kids and then watch the movie.Inkheart』
『INKHEART (DVD MOVIE)』
『"I prefer a story that has the good sense to stay on the page--where it belongs!" declares Elinor Loredan (Helen Mirren, in fine upper-crust form) inInkheart, a rollicking adventure that appeals to adults as well as tweens and teens. But if Elinor got what she wanted, viewers would not--for the delicious premise of the film (based on Cornelia Funke's best-selling novel is that book lover Mo Folchart (Brendan Fraser) has discovered a way to bring book characters to life. That means that adorable Toto fromThe Wizard of Ozis suddenly yapping under Mo's daughter Meggie's (Eliza Bennett) bed. But it also means that somewhere, a real person or thing has been sucked into the book world--battling flying monkeys and evildoers that suddenly are real threats. The film is crisply directed by Iain Softley, and Fraser and his costars (including Mirren, Paul Bettany, and Jim Broadbent) are worthy, watchable characters who appear to be having as much fun as the audience. And the film's pro-book message will please young book readers, and their parents, who know that a good adventure in one's imagination can never be rivaled by anything on any screen, of any size. --A.T. (Crappy transfers SUCK!)
『This is the same issue I have with one of my favorite guilty pleasures...DEATH BECOMES HER. It's pretty sad when your VHS looks better than the DVD. Hopefully the release of the remake will produce a better transfer of the original!』

(Happy As Can Be!)
『Once again, my wife Madena, was happy when she viewed Clash Of The Titans. She remembered this movie when it came out at the drive in (I think it was the early 80s), and she tells me that it was a great movie then, and it is a great movie now. Madena states that it is a beautiful presentation of Greek Mythology. I'm glad she is happy.』

(Clash of the Titans)
『This movie is a CLASSIC. I loved watching this when i was younger and still love watching it now. Granted the special effects are not nearly as "special" when compared to today's films, but given the year it was made, this is a good movie. A+』

(Too Cute. A disappointment.)
『As a longtime fan of Ray Harryhausen, I found this film to be a great disappointment when it first came out and to this day. Every time I see the mechanical owl, I want to throw a hammer at the TV. It is sad, because when Ray finally had enough production money to make a great film, it was laden with juvenalia. Give me even the silliest of his early films, I would take any of them over this overblown disaster. I love Ray Harryhausen, but not this film.』

(My kids love the movie)
『I remembered this movie from when I was a kid. I was a big Greek mythology buff. The movie doesn't follow the myth exactly, which can be a little frustrating for those of us that are mythology geeks. Overall the movie was fun and the kids loved it.

There is a tiny bit of nudity, when Danae is breast feeding her baby. Also, Perseus and Danae are walking on the beach and when Andromeda is bathing. I didn't think it was any big deal, but be warned.』

『The classic Greek myth of Perseus and Andromeda re-told with an all-star cast. To win the right to marry his love (Andromeda) and fufill his destiny, Perseus must complete various tasks including taming Pegasus, capturing Medusa, and answering riddles. The result is a timeless adventure that's a treat for kids and adults.』
『You have a classic tale full of drama, passion, and adventure. A tale of universal archetypes that speak to everyone. A tale that has remained unfailingly popular for thousands of years. Why not spice it up with a wacky mechanical owl? Such was the thinking behindClash of the Titans. Maggie Smith, Laurence Olivier, and Harry Hamlin (one of these things is not like the others...) star in a toga-ripper about a valiant hero, capricious immortals, and lots and lots of giant stop-action monsters. Perseus (Hamlin) is the favored son of the god Zeus (Olivier), but he has unwittingly ticked off the sea goddess Thetis (Smith). Just to make things worse, Perseus falls in love with the lovely Princess Andromeda, who used to be engaged to Thetis's son. Soon Perseus is off on one quest after another, with Zeus helping, Thetis hindering, and lots of innocent bystanders getting stabbed, drowned, and squished. Of course, the whole thing is just an excuse to show as much of Ray Harryhausen's stop-motion animation as possible, and good thing too. It's an old technique, but it still looks pretty darn cool, and it means the cast can just relax and do a bunch of reaction shots. Don't use this one to study for that big classical mythology exam, but if you just turn your brain off and enjoy the Kraken, it's pretty good fun.--Ali Davis

(Harry Potter 1-5 Boxed Set)
『These DVDs played beautifully. No problem with picture of sound, etc. One really big problem though. It was supposed to be a brand new, never viewed boxed set of the first five Harry Potter movies. The third year DVD, even though it said Harry Potter all of over the outside cover and top of the DVD, it was the Polar Express movie with Tom Hanks. I am not happy with that at all!』

(Harry Potter DVDs)
『Love the DVDs of Harry Potter...great price, easy to order, came in just a few days. Made a wonderful gift for friend. Thank you Amazon!』

(Harry Potter Collection - A Harry Must)
『This is a great set. I really enjoyed the series and anyone would likes these will enjoy buying the set. It's also very space saving. The discs are slim and fit nicely in the collection box which saves a lot of room instead of the individual discs which are bigger and take up a lot of space. I also like the design.』

(Modified Version of the Complete Movies)
『I love the Harry Potter series so I bought a set for me and my friend for her birthday. We were disappointed when we sat down to watch them that these are modified from the original version. You are not getting the entire movies. They are modified like they are on regular TV--just without the commercials (snippets cut out to cut down the time). They were a good deal and now I know why.』

(Potter DVD)
『Harry Potter Years 1-5 DVD box set is a great addition for movie collection. I bought this as a gift for some family members and they love it. DVD's come in a box, with each dvd in a slender case.』
