(Movies start without requiring you to watch/skip previews or press start)
『I greatly appreciate that I can place these into my player, and just have the movie start without having to skip all the previews. Heck, I don't even need to press play.

Such a nice change from the forced multiple preview skipping/watching on any Disney disk.

These movies look and sound great.

I am very happy with this purchase.

I would also recommend the getting the Harry Potter audio books as read by Jim Dale. They are simply amazing.』

(Nice Set)
『As far a staying with the storyline of the novels, I'd say that 1 and 2 were spot on. I believe the director changed after the second film, who happened to have a different vision for the films. The presentation here for a box set is average. You get an individual "slim" case for each movie in a cardboard box. No bells and whistles really, but there's bound to be another box set out at least after the final film is released. As far as video quality, I'd say the first few films are decent, but in the fourth and fifth you can really tell you're watching in Hi-Def. I can't comment much on the sound as I only have a 2.1 system.

All in all, it was a great buy at $56 (Gold box) over the summer, which comes out to just over $11 per blu-ray. On top of that, I was able to buy this set right before The Half-Blood Prince was out in theaters.』

(Loved the Movies/ This set defective)
『I guess I'm a little surprised that so many people actually kept this set since they noted the first two discs were not of blu ray quality. This set explicitly states that the Blu-ray discs are 1080p high definition. The first two are not. My old Harry Potter DVDs looked to be at a higher resolution when played on my blu ray player than these supposed 1080p (I am referring to the first two discs). I guess I like to get what is stated on the package. I returned mine. I will wait until a new set is released in hopes they actually release ALL the discs in 1080p.』

(Harry Potter just got even better)
『If you love the Harry Potter movies then you have to have then on Blu-ray』

(dics freezing)
『I love these movies and although it may be true the first two years aren't as 'blu'ray-y' as I would've hoped I can get past it. They still look better than the regular dvd. The biggest problem I have is that they tend to freeze in certain sections and I have to fast forward and miss bits to get it to work again. I have the same problem with all five discs, straight out of the package. I have a new Sony Blu Ray player that works like a charm on every other disc so I know it's not the player that's the problem. I'm really disappointed.』
『HARRY POTTER AND THE SORCERER'S STONE: The magical adventure begins when Harry Potter is invited to attend Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. HARRY POTTER AND THE CHAMBER OF SECRETS: Cars fly, trees attack and a mysterious house-elf warns Harry that he is in great danger as he returns for his second year at Hogwarts. HARRY POTTER AND THE PRISONER OF AZKABAN: Harry must confront soul-sucking Dementors, outsmart a werewolf and learn the truth about the escaped prisoner of Azkaban Sirius Black. HARRY POTTER AND THE GOBLET OF FIRE: Harry must overcome a deadly dragon, fierce water demons and an enchanted maze only to find himself in the cruel grasp of He Who Must Not Be Named. (Awesome Movie)
『This is a very good movie for the whole family. Michael Keaton doese an excellent job in this film. this is a must see.』

(a classic)
『This movie is a classic and one of our family favorites. We watched the VHS so much that we ended up buying the DVD. It, too, has been watched many times. The story of a boy's coming to terms with his father's death is well written and performed. There are a lot of laughing and crying moments throughout the movie. A definite must see!』

(Awesome, family oriented movie)
『This movie is about a dad named Jack Frost (Michael Keaton) who gets so caught up in trying to impress the world that he forgets about his wife, portrayed by Kelly Preston, and most importantly, his son Charlie (Joseph Cross.) On the way to a band gig one Christmas Eve, he realizes that he has neglected his wife and his son. On the way back to their cabin, Jack gets in a car accident and is killed. Over the course of the next twelve months, we see that Charlie is still struggling to cope with his dad's passing. His dad had spent a lot of time trying to make lots of money for his family, which his son couldn't have cared any less about. All he wanted was his dad's time, and to feel his dad's love.

One year later, Charlie builds a snowman and starts playing the harmonica that his dad had given him and had told him was a magic harmonica. Not long after, Charlie is greeted by a walking, talking snowman. Initially, Charlie is scared of it (who has ever had a snowman talk to them), and he tries to melt the snowman. Soon, Charlie realizes that his dad, who he loves with all his heart has come back to try and make things right with him. In the end, Jack makes things right with his family, particularly his son. The few hours that Jack and Charlie spend together make up for a lot of lost time, and Charlie finally gets to feel all of his dad's love all at once. The end is awesome, and I think the Bob Carlisle song "Father's Love" was very appropriate. The only change I would have made is that I would play that song during the final moments that Charlie spends with his dad before he has to say good-bye.

Everyone turned in an awesome performance in this film, but Michael Keaton and Joseph Cross stole the show with their scene at the end of the movie. Those two seemed like a real father and son. Kelly Preston turned in an awesome performance as Charlie's mom. Those three seemed like a real family, and like they'd known each other their whole lives. Great movie, and God bless the cast and crew.』

(Fantastic Spiritual Allegory)
『If you ever have deep philosophical questions about the meaning of life, the point of everything here, what comes after death, where do we come from, do we see the people we love again -- this movie will at least talk about those same questions with you and imagine some of the possible answers. If you beleive the soul has everlasting life, here is one thought-provoking story of how living forever as spirit, incarnate in different forms, might be. It's an amazing movie, much deeper than I expected - and much deeper than I've seen anyone try to be with an actual story instead of a documentary or interviews with quantum physicists and religious philosophers.

If you like clear, straightforward movies, this is not for you. The viewer must interpret, and while you relate to the story and characters too, the whole experience becomes deeply personal because it is open to so much personal meaning to be taken from the underlying allegory and metaphors.

It's a beautiful film!』

(A Powerful and Stunning Film with Breathtaking Special Effects.)
『The Fountain is one of the most brilliant films I have ever encountered. If you read the one-star reviews on Amazon, you will find a number of people who didn't understand the film. I suggest multiple viewings. It is not to be watched casually over popcorn.

For starters, this film gets me to cry EVERY TIME and I've seen it about 8 times now. This occurs at the end where Hugh Jackman's character "gets it" and I'm not one to get leaky when watching movies. This is my exception.

It is easy to get lost in the three layers of the film, so I strongly recommend watching this several times. Some subtle yet crucial points of the film slip by undetected on the first watching. To improve your odds of getting this film the first time around, you should keep in mind the following.

1.) Izzy is dying and her husband Tommy is in denial.
2.) The book is a koan or riddle that Tommy must solve in order to move on.
3.) The bubble is actually a spaceship 500 years in the future (so says Aronofsky).

If you can keep these three straight, you should have a better chance at seeing through the confusion into the brilliance below.

The special effects here are amazing. On a similar note, so is the commentary on the DVD. There's tons on neat info, one section of which is on the special effects. This is a must see. The visual effects are simply breath taking and I look forward to watching this film in HD. This is really quite a visual work of art.

The theme of the film focuses on death and how people cope with it, seemingly taking a page from Kübler-Ross's playbook. Her stages of dying are clearly spelled out in this film and may aid the moviegoer in getting deeper into this film.

Overall, I cannot fathom how anyone could not like this film, unless they didn't understand it. For all one-star nay-sayers, I strongly suggest re-watching it, or perhaps doing some research concerning the themes of this movie. Here are my brief thoughts on the matter...

Spoiler Alert!!!

2000's: Izzy is dying and her husband Tommy is a cancer researcher trying to save her life through research. Izzy is characterized by calm acceptance and a vague sense of spiritual contentment. On the other hand, Tommy is in utter denial of Izzy's condition as he is sure that he can beat death through better science. Through out the film he is in denial, in furious rage and sometimes seemingly bartering with death itself. While he is off at work, Izzy just wants him to be with her; right here and right now. This is the primary tension of the film (and Kübler-Ross's earlier mission), between acceptance and denial. One could look at the entire film as Tommy's path to acceptance.

1500's: Izzy then begins to realize that Tommy may never accept her mortality, so she begins to write a book about 16th century Spain where she and her husband are the figurative lead characters; Queen Isabella and the Conquistador, Thomas. This almost functions as a koan written specifically for Tommy's disposition. In the story, Spain is being crushed by the inquisition and Queen Isabella asks her brave Conquistador to go to Central America to find the tree of life. If he returns successful, she will be his wife, forever. This is clearly an analogy of Tommy trying to prolong their lives forever. But, Izzy has left the last chapter blank. This last chapter begs the question of how are we to view eternal life. Is this possible or even reasonable? Ultimately, what good is it to live forever if we cannot live in the present moment? This is the perversion that Izzy is trying to get Tommy to see past. After many centuries (see 2500's below) Tommy realizes that the story must end with the Conquistador dying. He finds the tree, drinks from its sap and perishes. The eternal life he sought was the re-birth of flowers springing up from his body. The moral, that Izzy tried to teach him in life, was that every death is a sacrifice so that life may continue.

2500's: We are to assume that Tommy beat death through scientific research. His wife is now reborn in a tree which Tommy has scooped up in a spherical, transparent spaceship bubble and is heading to a dying star of Mayan mythology in the hopes of rebirth. He is still, after all this time, completely oblivious to his feelings about his wife's death. The resolution of the film comes when he finishes the final chapter of his wife's incomplete book. Here, he finally confronts the idea that he is in fact going to die. The look on Jackman's face in this scene as his face beams in a smile with tears flowing down his face is absolutely amazing. "I'm going to die" he says. I'm getting shivers just writing about it.

(A cool cascade)
『Although The Fountain is impressive visually, and inventive in scope, the film fails to produce a cohesive whole that really gels. Because of this the movie is something of a cold exercise in form, and as such fails to engage the viewer in the way intended by the makers. It also seems a little pretentious at times, particularly towards the end when Jackman experiences a Buddha-esque transcendence. This is an interesting and highly creative tour-de-force but not the moving love story it sets out to be. In fact, the most moving aspect of he film is the score, without which the movie would come close to an emotional vacuum.』

(Finish It! Ambitious&Original SciFi)
『Darren Aronofsky definitely made a pretty film -- the play of light and dark, shadow and substance (aka Rod Serling) create a real Twilight Zone. Twilight Zone: The Complete Definitive Collection The film begins rather haphazardly and makes the viewer wonder what the heck is going on. After rewatching the beginning again and paying a bit more attention (vital skill for this film) you see (a) the beauty of the photography and (b) the metaphysical theories of life and death. Death being a journey to "awe", some Mayan mysticism Time&Transformation: A Novel of Mayan Mysticismand some grief. Some impossible purposes (finish the book, conquer death) and some interesting characters and chemistry. Having Hugh Jackman X-Men Origins: Wolverine (Two-Disc Special Edition + Digital Copy) here was an interesting choice: never seen a man cry so much.

Be prepared to wonder at the beauty of this film. No other word for it; pretty, aesthetic, almost steals the show. Jackman plays three people at once; a conquistador in the 16 century, a medical practitioner in the present century and some far off future he's a shaman in a bubble (reminiscent of the plants-in-a-ship from "Silent Running") heading towards Shaballa, the nebula worshipped by the Mayans and now reincarnated Jackman (Tommy) becomes First Father and recreates the Mayan creation myth -- uhm, I think so anyway.

Many conclusions, keeps you thinking, nearly as esoteric as 2001: A Space Odyssey 2001 - A Space Odyssey (Two-Disc Special Edition) in a lot of ways.

(Has been done many time in Asian Film and TV shows.)
『I like the movie, but this type of "Theme of Reincarnation" has been done ALMOST too many time in Asian Film and TV shows..esp in Budduhism and Hinduism countries ....I just wish the bluray transfer is better. It is an insult to Kubric for drawing the comparison. Kubric is as original and provacative as it gets,, ala Eyes Wide Shut etc. I was gonna get it, but bluray transfer is too not well reviewed...』
『Yesterday, today, tomorrow. Past, present, future. Through time and space, one man embarks on a bold 1000-year odyssey to defeat humankind's most indomitable foe: Death. Hugh Jackman plays that man, devoted to one woman (Rachel Weisz) and determined to protect her from forces that threaten her existence. His quest leads him to a Tree of Life...and to an adventure into eternity. Darren Aronofsky (Pi, Requiem for a Dream) directs, continuing his string of imaginative, involving filmmaking with a tale alive with ideas and filled with astonishing vistas. "Not many films can blow your mind and break your heart at the same time, but this one will" (Drew McWeeny, Ain't It Cool News).』
『Science fiction and romance collide inThe Fountain, the ambitious third feature from director Darren Aronofsky (Pi, Requiem for a Dream), who labored for four years to complete this epic-sized love story that stretches across centuries and galaxies. Hugh Jackman and Rachel Weisz (Aronofsky's real-life companion) play lovers in each of the film's three settings--16th century Europe and America (Jackman is a Spanish explorer searching for Incan magic), the present day (Jackman is a doctor attempting to cure his dying wife), and the 26th century (Jackman is a space traveler seeking a gateway to the afterlife)-–who struggle mightily to stay united, only to lose each other time and again. Aronofsky may not have chosen the easiest presentation for audiences to absorb his theories on the lasting qualities of life and the transformative powers of death-–the final sequence, in particular, with a bald Jackman floating through space in a bubble, harks back uncomfortably to "head movies" of the late '60s-–but his leads have considerable chemistry (and look terrific to boot), which goes a long way towards securing viewers' hopes for a happy ending. Critical reception forThe Fountainhas been nothing short of bloodthirsty, with Cannes audiences booing, but there are elements to enjoy here, even if the premise throws one for a loop. Ellen Burstyn (who earned an Oscar nomination forRequiem) delivers a typically solid performance as Jackman's boss in the present day sequence, and special effects (most done without the benefit of CGI) are also impressive given the film's low budget (spurred by a mid-production shutdown after original stars Brad Pitt and Cate Blanchett ankled the picture). And science-fiction fans whose tastes run towards the metaphysical (Asimov, Le Guin) will appreciate the attempt to present the genre in a serious light.--Paul Gaita

(The original film remains funny and well worth watching)
『My daughter and I just did a GHOST BUSTERS double bill in honor of her upcoming move to New York, where she will be working at Columbia University, which is where Bill Murray and his paranomal colleague are studying at the beginning of the first film. We both really enjoyed the original and felt that it had more than held up over time, but we we were tremendously disappointed with the sequel. This is a joint review of both films. We watched the original film on Blu-ray and the second one on regular DVD. I won't say much more about the format except to say that the quality of the Blu-ray was somewhat disappointing. In fact, the quality of the DVD was very nearly as good as the Blu-ray.

Rewatching the first film, it was fascinating to see what a simple story it told, and how short it was. There really is very little to the film apart from the simple story and a string of scenes the become a framework for a series of jokes. The one thing that surprised me was that I don't find Bill Murray's jokes, many of which feel ad libbed, as funny as I did when I saw it when it first came out. This is balanced by Harold Ramis and Dan Ackroyd being funnier than I remembered. The special effects all look pretty good by today's standards, except for Slimer, who didn't much appeal to me when the film came out and still doesn't. But the highpoint of the movie, then as now, is the Stay-Puft marshmallow man, which is definitely one of the greatest movie monsters ever.

I saw the sequel when it came out, but over the years found it odd that I couldn't remember anything about it. I remembered that Sigourney Weaver's character had a baby, but that was the extent of it. Rewatching the film it is easy to see why I couldn't remember anything about it: it is simply not a very memorable film. The pace and the rhythm are erratic and many of the jokes are simply unfunny. The plot isn't very interesting and seems pretty formulaic, the formula being the first movie. It was, in fact, almost a remake of the original with some names changed and situations altered. Both my daughter and I were very unhappy with it and did not think it a very worthy sequel to the first film.

The original 1984 GHOSTBUSTERS still plays like a film that was the product of some imaginations in the grip of a real vision, while the sequel feels like a film made to cash in on the success of the former. It isn't like they weren't trying, they simply weren't inspired. GHOSTBUSTERS 2 just is not a worthy sequel of one of the more memorable light comedies of the eighties. Speaking for the two of us, we definitely enjoyed the first movie, but wish we had passed on the second one. I just hope that I remember the latter as poorly as I did the first time.』

When first released there were some mistakes in the aspect ratio information on the cover and inserts (this lead to some confusion about the aspect ratios of these DVDs), but those errors have all been corrected. 『Ghostbusters is an awesome movie. and it never gets old. this movie is awesome. it's a must see this double feature pack is a heck of a deal.

ghostbusters 2 is just as good as the first. it's a must see as well』

(DOES NOT INCLUDE THE ADVERTISED MOVIES)
『We just bought this set and the first one my dayghter wanted to see was "The Year Without A Santa Claus." Too bad this was not included as advertised (neither was Nestor the Long Eared Donkey or Rudolph's Shiny New Year). Instead there was some very bad live action version. NOT WHAT I ORDERED. Bad business practice on the part of WB.』

(BEWARE)
『We ordered this set, got it in a timely fashion, opened it and the second DVD was NOT the Rankin-Bass animated special as it is supposed to be (and as is described on the box), but an awful live action film of the same name ("the year without a santa claus") from 2006 starring John Goodman. I alerted Amazon, and they sent a second set. I opened it today and it has THE SAME PROBLEM. I am sending both back and do not want to go through this again. Someone was asleep at the packaging wheel and who knows how many more box these boxed sets have the same problem. Be warned.』

(Great although missing)
『A few specials. This edition does not include the deluxe edition of a year without a santa claus or Rudolph's shiny new year and nestor the long earred christmas donkey. What is included is the live action movie "The year without a santa claus" it was ok but not that great.

I already bought the previous year's blue edition so I already had the deluxe edition of The year without a santa claus.

I emailed Warner home video about this issue last week and have year to receive a response not even an email saying they received my email.

My purpose for buying this set was to get the new specials not previously on the blue edition. I really wish they'd come out with a definative collection of the Rankin bass Christmas specials. If not I can always record them off of tv when they air on ABC family each christmas.』

(Great Shows From Your Childhood)
『Why doesn't someone make shows like this anymore? Instead we are treated with year after year of the flavor of the month in some sappy "home for Christmas", made for TV movie that's just like last year's show and will be just like next year's. All these Christmas specials are classic TV and can be watched over and over and over again. I was somewhat disappointed not to see Jack Frost in this collection, as were other raters and expecially since a Jack Frost DVD was released the same year, but I don't believe in killing the DVD just because some fat cat had a brain fart.

Everyone from ages 30-50 should own these and be able to sit down every Christmas season and play them on your schedule (and not when the networks squeeze them in on Dec 1 or some other crazy time). We should all be able to watch the Grinch&Rudolph&Santa Claus is Coming To Town on the days leading up to Dec 25th. This is all what makes Christmas the most special time of the year!』

『Received this item propmtly. Great product! My son and I are enjoying watching these Christmas classics. I would recommend buying it.』
『Studio: Warner Home Video Release Date: 10/30/2008 Rating: Nr』
『It may not be what you think at first glance, butClassic Christmas Favoritesis indeed a set of vintage holiday specials, mostly from the team of Rankin/Bass. Start with the one that's not Rankin/Bass, but is a flat-out classic,How the Grinch Stole Christmas!(1966), the Dr. Seuss tale about a curmudgeon who tries to stop Christmas from coming. From its Seussian zaniness to its humor to its music,Grinchis just about perfect in every way. The version included is the 2006 remastered version withHorton Hears a Who!(1970) and other material, and new for 2008 are three specials previously unavailable on DVD:The Leprechauns' Christmas Gold(1981),Pinocchio's Christmas(1980), andThe Stingiest Man in Town(1978). The next most famous special isThe Year Without a Santa Claus(1974), a stop-motion story in which Santa (voiced by Mickey Rooney) decides to take the holiday off, only to have the movie stolen by Heat Miser and Snow Miser. The 2007 deluxe edition has some documentary material and the two specials that were on the previous DVD,Rudolph's Shiny New Year(1976) andNestor, the Long-Eared Christmas Donkey(1977). On the third disc are the cel-animatedFrosty's Winter Wonderland(1976, narrated by Andy Griffith), in which Frosty gets a snow wife, and'Twas the Night Before Christmas(1974), which uses the Clement Moore poem as an excuse to tell a story about a human and a mouse who have to make amends when an offended Santa decides not to visit their town.

Finally, the stop-motionRudolph and Frosty's Christmas in July(1979) is a feature-length (105 minutes!) special that follows the reindeer and the snowman as they get jobs at a Fourth of July circus! One of the fun things about this special is how a number of the original voices return to give the programs a similar look and feel: Jackie Vernon puts in his third stint as the voice of Frosty, Billie Richards again voices Rudolph, Shelley Winters three-peats her role as Crystal (Frosty's wife), and Mickey Rooney returns as Santa.

The 2008 setClassic Christmas Favoritesis an updated version of 2007'sChristmas Television Favorites, adding the three new specials on disc 1. A quick look at the cover may lead one to think that this is all theoriginalRankin/Bass specials--Santa Claus Is Coming to Town,Frosty the Snowman, etc. These aren't those, but they're still vintage Rankin-Bass and many people think of them just as fondly.--David Horiuchi

『On October 12,2009 I bought a DVD - Lady and the Tramp. Until today, November 13,2009 I didn't received the DVD.』

(Grand-Daughter)
『I purchased this video for my grand-daughter who loved the first Lady and the Tramp. This is soon to become her favorite as well. Recommend buying from this seller in the future.』

(Will always love Lady and the Tramp)
『5 adults enjoyed last Sat night just sitting and enjoying Lady and the Tramp again. I will NEVER loan it out...It stays on our shelf.』

(GREAT SELLER!)
『I ordered this movie and for some reason it was returned to the seller--- I NEVER EVEN RECEIVED IT! I contacted the seller who emailed me back in a few hours time. They left me a phone number to call them. So I did I talked to a super nice man named Jim. He explained to me that I was among one of the 12 orders that got returned to them on this same day of ordering. I do not know what happened ? But Jim was wonderful and said he would reship the order to me. HE WAS JUST GREAT! MORE SELLER'S COULD TAKE NOTES ON HOW TO DEAL WITH THE PUBLIC FROM HIM! I WILL ORDER FROM THESE SELLERS AGAIN!』

(Love it!)
『Great movie! I bought this used for my daughter. Video is in good shape and was at a great price.』
『Walt Disney's LADY AND THE TRAMP, filled with memorable music and purebred fun, now shines like never before with an all-new digital restoration! Embark on a thrilling adventure with the most unforgettable characters: Lady, a lovingly pampered cocker spaniel; Tramp, a mutt from across the tracks with a heart of gold; Jock and Trusty, Lady's best friends; and Si and Am, two of the most devious cats to prowl across the screen. The happiest of endings takes place on a lovely bella notte as Lady learns what it means to be footloose and leash-free. Unleash all the fun and excitement in this 2-Disc Special Edition, including never-before-seen deleted scenes, 5.1 Disney Enhanced Home Theater Mix, all-new games, making-of secrets, and much more!』
『It's still one of the sweetest kisses onscreen, up there with Bergman and Grant, Bogey and Bacall: the moment when pampered purebred Lady and streetwise mongrel Tramp, sharing a moonlit plate of spaghetti in an alley behind an Italian café, unknowingly slurp the same strand, and suddenly find their mouths meeting in surprise and tenderness. Ah, puppy love.Lady and the Trampis a delight of animation and surprisingly deep character development, given that the stars are all dogs. Lady, an adorable Cocker Spaniel, feels neglected when her owners become distracted by the pending birth of a baby. But the last straw is clueless Aunt Sarah's appearance with her conniving Siamese cats (among Disney's most creatively evil villains), who wreak havoc on Lady's blissful home life. Soon Lady is off on an adventure in the streets, where the savvy Tramp takes her under his paw. The lessons of friendship and loyalty, of integrity--not to mention trusting in the kindness of strangers--ring true to delighted children and adults alike. And unlike many Disney films, there's no real violence, only challenges that smart dogs (including a tough-talking vamp named Peg, voiced sublimely by Peggy Lee, who also wrote the songs), banding together, can tackle. The animation is terrific; the scene where we first meet Tramp shows him rinsing off under a pipe, and his subsequent shaking-off of the water follows the detailed rippling up and down his back that any dog lover will recognize. And is there any song more romantic than "Bella Notte"? Bellissima!--A.T. Hurley

(I just saw one about 2012...)
『Apocalyptic sci-fi with aliens are pretty popular with
the global warming happening before our eyes.
I kind of enjoyed this "whispering" prediction
and calling of the chosen type movie.
The Mayan calender with it's 2012 date is based
on a long term observed solar cycle.
There in no real evidence that there will be a
spike in activity at that date. Actually we seem to be
in a time when the solar cycle is resetting to a low point.
If such a movie makes people think,
it may well be a good thing,
like the flying saucer movies of the 50's.

(Dreadful!)
『Basic idea behind this film - believe in god, go to heaven; don't believe in god - burn in hell. Not that heaven looks all that appealing, if it's inhabited by sinister non-talking angels who frighten you half to death. The production budget must have been high, but the acting is flat, the premise is incredibly flawed and unbelievable (not to mention boring), and you're left at the end wondering if that's all there is - a scary Eden. If you like fire and brimstone and the idea that nonbelievers, despite being fellow human beings and decent people, all burn in hell, you'll probably like this awful film.』

(I Liked This Movie)
『Actually, I really liked this movie. I found it thought provoking, interesting, intense at parts and I actually like movies that have endings like this.

I think the religious undertones in this movie don't really detract from it as much as they make you think about where exactly we draw the line between proof and believing in something that we can't explain. I personally believe that science and spirituality share more common ground than either side might realize, although I consider myself an agnostic. I don't know if I'm right or not, and don't want to spoil the ending, so I'll just say that I looked through it with more "Sci-Fi" lenses than spiritual ones and really enjoyed the movie and the ending.

Go into it with an open mind and see if you like it. I know several people who really enjoyed it, and some people who were really turned off by it who normally have similar tastes to myself.

I'm giving it 4 out of 5 stars because I think it doesn't really hold up to a lot of repeat viewings but it makes a good rental, just to roll the dice and see if you're one of the ones who enjoys it.』

(The Sun has a lot to answer for)
『Comparing this science fiction/ghost thriller to the rather ridiculous apocalyptic movie 2012, I notice disturbing parallells. My hunch: somebody in the US is driving a campaign against the sun, who is finally taking the blame for everything.
That can't possibly be right, especially since there seem to be people around who believe this kind of thing. This is anti-enlightenment and anti-science packaged in scary entertainment! Some even talk about spirituality. I can't discuss this here without giving away too much of the plot.

Had I not just watched 2012, I might have said: ok, a partly not so stupid story about clairvoyance and strange happenings, one might have taken it for an average Stephen King movie. Compared to 2012 it is, I thought for a while, not so stupid, if you like the genre (numbers, predictions of disasters, whispering voices, children apporached by shady beings...). There is even a pseudo-intellectual touch when the professor played by Cage (actually not badly) discusses determinism vs randomism in class, and admits that he is a randomist and then, of course, he has to give up all his scientific creeds.

In the end, it seems to me, this is part of a pattern of apocalytpic thinking, that can't be welcome. Some toying with esoterics can make for entertaining movies, but here we are going over the top.
In case that somebody still wants to watch this and wants to preserve the 'suspense', I abstain from going into further detail.

Let me just say as my personal conclusion: this is fascistoid, anti-scientific, racist brainwashing!』

『A college professor (Nicolas Cage) opens a time capsule that has been dug up at his son s elementary school. In it are some chilling accurate predictions of disasters... when, where, and how many will die. Most of these events must uncover the details of the next disasters in hopes of preventing them. If he fails, who knows how many will die?』
『Nicolas Cage stars in this largely unsatisfying science-fiction tale that begins as a taut and spooky story concerning psychic legacies and ends up falling back on Steven Spielberg's old, cosmic playbook for default explanations about weird phenomena. Cage stars as astrophysicist and widower John Koestler, whose young son attends a school where a 50-year-old time capsule is dug up and opened. Koestler's son, Caleb (Chandler Canterbury), is given an envelope from the capsule containing a sheet of paper inscribed with seemingly-random numbers. Koestler interprets groupings of the numbers as prophesies (made in 1959) of disasters leading up to a globally catastrophic event late in 2009. Moreover, some of the later tragedies involve him or members of his family, suggesting the paper was meant to fall into his and Caleb's hands. That’s not the only freaky thing drawing father and son in a direction they really don't want to go. Among other things, a quartet of mute strangers keeps showing up with a powerful interest in Caleb's whereabouts, and the daughter and granddaughter of the little girl who originally scribbled those numbers in 1959 are under the shadow of a separate prediction of doom. Everything goes swimmingly until it's time for director Alex Proyas (The Crow) to begin tying up all the strings, and cliches start falling like rain. On the plus side,Knowingincludes a couple of breathtaking scenes of calamity, the most horrifying (and realistic) of which is a jet crash the likes of which has never been committed to film.--Tom Keogh

(Very Entertaining)
『I was introduced to the series through a coworker who has been showing an episode a week during the lunch hour. I enjoy it very much and purchased Book 1 as a Christmas present for my 7 and 5 year old sons. They have not seen it yet but I am confident they will enjoy it even more than I do.』

(Like it!)
『The story is great, and the DVD's were not scratched. The cover was a little ripped but that's okay! I like it!』

(BEST SHOW EVER)
『I loved every moment of this. It seems a little slow to start, but by the 3 episode you are hooked. I have lent the collection to multiple friends and they all buy their own copies after borrowing mine.
This collection is definitely worth owning and watching over and over again.』

(Avatar: the last airbender book 1 collection)
『I love the show Avatar: the last airbender, so it is a great buy. It defeats the hassle of having to hunt down one book volume(DVD) at a time. It still has all the featurettes and everything; plus I like the cover on the box collection better than I do the individual book volumes.』

(I love this series)
『A couple years ago when my roommate had me watch a few episodes, I looked at Avatar and thought "this looks like stupid American animation trying to pass off as anime". I could not have been more wrong. Avatar is everything animation should be. The animation itself is well done and often artful. The writing is believable, funny, and well delivered by talented voice actors and actresses. The music is comfortable, bringing you into this amazing world that has been created. I really can't say enough about the world itself. It is so well thought out and well imagined. I could go on and on about what I love about this show. The fact of the matter is, I can't think of anything I don't like about this show.

Oh and Amazon rules, it shipped quickly and in beautiful condition.』

Book 1: Water, Vol. 1
Mysterious, visually beautiful at times, and surprisingly funny,Avatar: Book 1, Volume 1is the exciting story of Aang, a 12-year-old reincarnation of the ancient Avatar, whose purpose (in an imagined world that seems both ancient and futuristic) is to restore peace and order between warring armies of the four elements: fire, earth, water, and air. At one time or another, over thousands of years, the Avatar has been embodied in masters of each of the elements. Aang (who is freed from a century-long sleep inside an iceberg) happens to be an "airbender," capable of using air and wind as powerful forces for moving objects and defeating hostile armies of firebenders. The feature-lengthAvatarfollows Aang and a couple of friends as he becomes reacquainted with the world he knew before his 100-year hibernation--a world now lost to history. The story also concerns internal dramas within the unforgiving world of firebenders, who are intent on destruction and conquest. This engaging story, very pleasant to look at in its rich tones of blue and orange, is for all ages.--Tom Keogh

Book 1: Water, Vol. 2
Avatar The Last Airbender, Book 1: Water, Volume 2continues the adventurous if half-comic journey of 12-year-old Airbender Aang, reincarnation of an ancient avatar, and his friends Katara and Sokka as they seek a teacher to help Aang fulfill his peacemaking destiny in a war-torn world. The four episodes on this disc, a follow-up to the elegant, magical series introduction, find the trio wandering through sundry Earth Nation cities, where they encounter signs of troubles between the once-harmonious, elemental tribes representing fire, earth, air, and water. They also bump into trouble with the occasional evil kingdom, as in "The King of Omashu," where Aang must go through various trials to save Katara and Sokka from a bizarre execution. (They're encased in growing, crystal structures.) "Imprisoned" finds Katara inadvertently responsible for the arrest of an Earthbending boy who dares to use his powers while his people are under Firebender occupation. The ambitious, two-part "Winter Solstice" is the best production in this collection, a pairing of storylines involving the capture of a Firebender war criminal and the hopes of a frightened village that turns to Aang to defeat a monster from the spirit world. The action is still original and fun on this sequel--most of it continues to be based on exciting uses of the elements--and the lead trio's characters (Aang the scamp, Katara the idealist, Sokka the skeptic) are still a pleasure to be with. --Tom Keogh

Book 1: Water, Vol. 3
TheAvatarsaga continues with four of the anime series' strongest stories yet onBook 1: Water, Volume 3, mixing goofy comedy with mythic drama in the spirit of Avatar's magical debut (Book 1 Water, Volume 1) and engaging follow-up (Book 1 Water, Volume 2). Volume 3 concerns the continuing (perilous) travels of Aang, the 12-year-old Airbender destined to heal the rift between the world's air, water, fire, and earth peoples, and his friends Katara and Sokka. "The Waterbending Scroll" finds Katara so jealous over Aang's quick mastery of complicated waterbending techniques that the trio ends up in trouble with a cluster of cutthroat pirates. "Jet" is an interesting story of an adolescent boy leading a Robin Hood-like rebellion against the firebending occupiers of his land. Charismatic and rakish, Jet makes Katara swoon and becomes a hero to Aang--until his true colors and agenda show up later. "The Great Divide" places Aang and company in the position of mediating a truce between refugees seeking assistance across a great canyon. Finally, "The Storm" is a superb piece which shows us, in parallel narratives, how Aang was fleeing his oppressed life as an avatar-in-training a century earlier when he became encased in ice, and how the driven, seemingly merciless Prince Zuko lost his own boyhood innocence before setting out to capture Aang. This excellent collection carries on the series' imaginative, graceful animation, makingAvatara real pleasure to watch. --Tom Keogh

Chapters 17 through 20 ofAvatar the Last Airbender: Book 1 Water, Vol. 5find Aang, the 12-year-old Avatar destined to bring peace to the world by mastering the four elements, once again in direct collision with the forces of the Fire nation. In "The Northern Air Temple," a sad Aang visits the ruins of a monastery well known to him in his past life. Aang is shocked to discover a tribe of faux Airbenders living there, presided over by an inventor with a dark and even treacherous secret. "The Waterbending Master" introduces Aang to a mentor he would just as soon avoid: an old Waterbender who can teach him to move, shape, and fight with liquid, prerequisites to Aang assuming his place as the world’s savior. Meanwhile, Aang's traveling companion Katara is frustrated by that same master’s refusal to sharpen her own natural, Waterbending talent; until, that is, an unexpected link between them becomes clear. (Aang's other friend, Sokka, stays busy--and crazy--chasing a princess who gives himmixed signals about her romantic interest.) "The Siege of the North, Parts 1 and 2" is yet another epic confrontation between Admiral Zhao's Fire Navy fleet and the Aang gang. The twist this time is that Zhao attempts the murder of Prince Zuko, an action that cannot go without consequences. As usual,Avataris visually exciting and highly original, an otherworldly yet fully accessible fantasy full of dreams and good humor. --Tom Keogh

(Funny!)
『This movie was funny. Kept adults and teens interested too. Good cast! A little rude, but overall good.』

(Night at the Museum - A Movie Worth Owning)
『This movie is one of few on the market that presents a father's love for his child in a mature fashion. The comedy is great and sensible. The struggle between good and evil is simple and the use of museum characters in that struggle is wonderful. This is a movie that is worth owning and multiple viewing.』

(Dumb Dumb Want Gum Gum)
『This has to be ben stiller's best movie ever. this movie is awesome and is really funny. this is a must see for everyone』

(great family movie)
『Wholesome movies are scarce nowadays - even animated films have inappropriate humor. Although predictable, this movie is delightful to watch and the graphics are wonderful.

This is a great addition to our movie library.』

『My kid like this movie.
THe quality of this blue ray is very good.
No regret buying it so far.

『Ben Stiller leads an all-star cast including Robin Williams and Dick Van Dyke in this hilarious blockbuster hit. When good-hearted dreamer Larry Daley (Stiller) is hired as night watchman at the Museum of Natural History, he soon discovers that an ancient curse brings all the exhibits to life after the sun sets. Suddenly, Larry finds himself face-to-face with a frisky T. rex skeleton, tiny armies of Romans and cowboys and a mischievous monkey who taunts him to the breaking point. But with the help of President Teddy Roosevelt (Williams), Larry may just figure out a way to control the chaos and become a hero in his son's eyes. Boasting jaw-dropping special effects and laugh-out-loud moments, Night at the Museum is your ticket to nonstop fun!』

An irresistible concept meets computer-generated wonders in Night at the Museum, inspired by a 1993 children's book by Milan Trenc. Ben Stiller stars as Larry Daley, an underachieving inventor waiting for his ship to come in while getting evicted from one apartment after another for lack of funds. Larry's son needs some stability, so the well-meaning ne'er-do-well takes a job as night watchman at New York City's Museum of Natural History. What the soon-to-retire guards (Dick Van Dyke, Mickey Rooney, Bill Cobbs) don't tell him is that an ancient pharaoh's tablet in the museum causes everything on display to come to life at night. Thus, Larry meets representations of Teddy Roosevelt, Attila the Hun, fire-worshipping cavemen, and Roman Empire soldiers, and learns to cope with an excitable T-Rex and man-eating, ancient animals. The film might have left things at that, but an added story element gives Night at the Museum some extra urgency and excitement, especially fo! r kids: Larry becomes responsible for keeping this nightly miracle going and preventing anything in the museum from dying due to exposure to sunrise. Computer effects, as well as wildly imaginative costumes and makeup, help make the film appeal to the 8-year-old in everyone. Director Shawn Levy (The Pink Panther) works with a hugely talented cast, including Robin Williams, Owen Wilson, Ricky Gervais, Carla Gugino, and Steve Coogan. --Tom Keogh

Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review
(One of my favorite 'relax' movies, comes with some SERIOUS Blu-ray features and freebies)
『THE MOVIE

I will admit, THIS Godzilla is one of my favorite 'thoughtless entertainment' movies. The kind I watch when I'm exhausted and all I want is to relax with a cocktail or a cup of cappuccino and not worry about world peace or possible cosmic disasters for a while. Sure, it's not the Japanese Godzilla - it's an American movie after all - but I can't see why we shouldn't have our own Godzilla the same way the Japanese can have their own baseball and rock and roll.

I will not do a full critique of the movie - there are hundreds of excellent reviews published already so I am going to be brief. I will only state that I love Godzilla because:

- it has Matthew Broderick (Bueller?)
- it has Jean Reno (The Specialist, The DaVinci Code)
- it has (a lot of) humor
- it has most excellent visual effects, quite impressive even by 2009 standards
- it has one of the better sound tracks in a monster movie

Sure, it's not the Japanese Godzilla but, come to think of it, the Japanese Godzilla has none of the above.

THE BLU-RAY RELEASE

Of course, it's 1080p and it's an easy to notice improvement over the DVD release - I've bought both the VHS and the DVD releases prior to this one. More impressive than the picture is the sound track. The DTS-HD Master Audio it's literally a blast. It will rock your house with the proper sub-woofer.

The extras are mostly those found on the DVD edition but there are a couple of Blu-specific additions.

The Godzilla trivia game is actually fun - multiple-choice where the time it takes to pick the answer is factored into the score. A multi-player option is available for players with an Internet connection. To my surprise, this actually worked and I could play Godzilla trivia online with someone who was trying out this exotic feature at the same time I was.

The Movie-IQ option is another BD-Live powered option. It checks some online database and provides up-to-date information about the movie while watching the movie. I immediately learned, while watching the movie, that Godzilla grossed $350 million and it was released in 1998 and that, since its release in 1954 there have been 28 Godzilla/GOJIRA movies.

BD-Live also facilitated the printing of a ticket for the '2012' movie (up to $10). Be VERY careful and do NOT throw away the wrapping. The back of the sticker has a code that, when typed in in a BD-Live session will have Sony email you a PDF that can be printed and becomes a 'ticket' that's valid until Dec. 31 2009.

Finally, the disk - not a second disk - includes a digital copy for the PSP. You first copy it to your PS3 hard drive and then you download it from there to the PSP - it comes with full instructions on how to proceed.

MY RATING

5 stars as a movie and 5 stars as a Blu-ray release. If you happen to own a PS3 and a PSP and you happen to want to watch '2012' before the end of 2009 this is an incredible bargain.』

(Godzilla)
『This is not one of the best Godzilla movies ever made but it's still pretty good. i liked it alot and i hope you will to. I Recommend it for everyone』

(BAD STORY, GREAT DIGITAL SOUND !!!!)
『for the story , they mess with the Japanese legendary monster , different shape , at least they kept the same roar fx , as for the sound quality , this movie was made for the digital theater systems , now on blu ray yes the sound will be great , the dvd contains DTS system , now with true HD it may look better for a popcorn movie .』

(Godzilla at a different view)
『For the Godzilla fans of yesterday need to get over the fact that this one didnt look like a guy in a rubber suit. I have read the 1 star ratings by fans on how they were upset that Godzilla was on the run he didnt fight back. If you look at any of the Godzilla films it took the story line in a whole new perspective the old never had to go through that yeah the old Godzilla had a kid just another guy in a lazy outfit. Now Godzilla looks like an actual monster with realistic attribute as a lizard being A sexual and reproducing on its own. Godzilla was looking for a place for the babies which is understandable why at the begining he kept running. But when they killed the kids he went on a rampage and breathed fire like most of you say he didnt.

This Godzilla was more agile, looked realistic, and was more practical for this time period. And if you asked why manhattan where else is he going to hide out with so much protection in Jersey. Come on people in terms of story line it was a great twists from fighting Godzilla to fending off the kids turning back to a destructive Godzilla. I like to see you guys make a Godzilla film and see if people like it.』

(Great giant monster movie, but not Godzilla)
『I wish I could give this two ratings, so here it is:
How do you rate this item (As a Godzilla movie)? *
How do you rate this item (As a giant monster movie)? ****

This flick is entertaining, has great SPFX, and acceptable acting. The problem? The title of this movie is GODZILLA. We all know this was Emmerich and Devlin's attempt to give us an American Godzilla movie, but they fell way short of that goal. If you want to see our big Ape-Whale in true form, go get Gojira, Godzilla 1985, vs. Biollante, or any of the 90's Godzilla movies. Even Godzilla Final Wars is top-notch Kaiju fare. If you're expecting a Godzilla movie, avoid this like the plague...』

『Studio: Sony Pictures Home Ent Release Date: 11/03/2009 Run time: 139 minutes Rating: Pg13』
『As "gigantic monster reptile attacks New York" movies go, you've got to admit thatGodzilladelivers the goods, although its critical drubbing and box-office disappointment were arguably deserved. It's a shameless, uninspired crowd pleaser that's content to serve up familiar action with the advantage of really fantastic special effects, and if you expect nothing more you'll be one among millions of satisfied customers. There's really no other way to approach it--you just have to accept the fact thatIndependence Daycreators Roland Emmerich and Dean Devlin are unapologetic plagiarists, incapable of anything more than mindless spectacle that can play in any cinema in the world without dubbing or subtitles. The whole movie plays out like a series of highlights stolen from previous blockbusters of the 1990s; it's little more than a rehash of theJurassic Parkmovies. The derivative script is so trivial that it's unworthy of comment, apart from a few choice laughs and the casting of Michael Lerner as New York's mayor, whose name is Ebert and who closely resembles a certain well-known movie critic. Perhaps that's a clever hint that this movie's essentially critic-proof. It's stupid but it's fun, and for most audiences that's a fitting definition of mainstream Hollywood entertainment.--Jeff Shannon
