>price: Warner Home Video Usually ships in 24 hours Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (Best Edition...easily) ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() 『This cut is superlative! The animated sequences noy only enhance, but add additional depth to the movie (The best intentions can result in one becoming the very thing one is fighting.) And of course, it now stands even closer to the original source material. I know that not everyone is a fan of the film. That's what usually happens when a movie breaks from the standard norm. But, love it or hate it, one thing is for sure--this UC is exceptional filmmaking...the type of which is pretty damn rare. I should also mention that, even though I did not do a side-by-side comparison, the HD PQ seems more detailed on this version. A must for any collection. My thanks to Snyder and all involved for going to the effort of putting together this release. (And, as a person who hasn't read the original comics since it first came out, it's nice to have the Full-Motion HD presentation here as well.)』 (Highly recommended!) ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() 『Thank you, Zack Snyder, for this extraordinary movie experience! Thank you! Great film. Great ultimate cut version. Great in picture and sound! Great box art: one of my absolute favourite collector's items! Thank you, Warner, for this one! I do not like the fact that the price is going up and down (30$ to 40$ to 30$, so that I payed 10$ more because I ordered in between) and that I did not receive the 10$ coupon from Warner on time (as promised at the purchase of the DC). Nevertheless, this box is worth every cent. 』 (Best film of 2009 just got better!) ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() 『300 was Zack Synder's Spartacus and this film is his Dr. Strangelove - a startling satire on America and it's notion of heroism. The brilliant book by Alan Moore is one of my favorites, but the film packs a much more emotional punch, especially in the new ending, that doesn't leave one as cold. The film is not for everyone - don't force the wives or kids to watch it, but for those who let the film be what it is, not what they want it to be, it's a true cinematic masterpiece. The Ultimate Cut is amazing, and the best version of the film to see.』 (decent movie) ![]() ![]() ![]() 『I read the book for the first time about six months ago and really enjoyed it.Waited to buy the ultimate cut.It was okay.Im used to this already.Movies just cant detail what a book can.The only movie that did was The Godfather.』 (Perfectly Flawless) ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() 『This is a Thank you to Snyder, WB for releasing the definitive, uncut movie of Watchmen. Yes, granted we got the Director's cut back in July, but this is the icing on the cake, the happy ending, winning TD, the creme de la creme of Director Cut movies. Even though we have to shell out some $$, Yaaaaahhh Capitalism. The movie is nicely packaged and comes with the complete animated motion comic DVD. Now most will say why get this? Why drop like 30 something bucks? In a economy crisis we're in? Why just get the director's cut, the Tales of the Black Freighter, separately? I think this Cut with the Tales of the Black freighter, interwoven in gives the story more depth, more "meat" to this movie, as in the comic itself there is so much that is going on, so much layering in story, characters, you just do not get that if you buy TOBF and Watchmen Regular Director's Cut, doesn't feel whole... as this, with the Ultimate Cut, it feels whole even though longer but feels totally in sync with the graphic novel itself. I have not yet watched it with Commentary with Snyder and co writer Dave Gibbons which I think will be very interesting, get an intimate insight from one of today's most visionary directors. Over all very pleased with this edition, nearly flawless, as great as Dark Knight Blu Ray I have to say. 』 『The Watchmen: The Ultimate Cutis a new and final version of the blockbuster film from Zack Snyder. I want to comment specifically on the digitally remastered edition. If you are one of those that refuses to watch the new version because "that's not how it looked when it came out", you should still get this set, because it includes the original format as well. Personally, I was not born when these movies came out, so the raw, grainy version has no special place in my heart. I have seen the old version, and it's cool. But the remastered version, in my opinion, reflects what Lucas would have done had the technology been available. If you want proof, look at episodes 1, 2, and 3. If you don't own these movies already, buy this set. If you only have the original version, buy this set anyway.』 (Great movies!) ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() 『I bought these movies for my 6 year old. I was incredibly happy to see both versions here. I love the originals more and I missed some of the parts that were cut out and replaced on the SE versions. The SE versions were still fun and I was glad they did them. Now I can enjoy both versions. Everything that is great about film making comes from these movies. The prequals were the biggest movie dissapointment of my entire life and are not worthy to be called Star Wars movies. These is the real Star Wars triolgy. These movies rock more than any other movies in the galaxy!』 (The un-altered Original Trilogy... it's about time guys!) ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() 『I know a lot of folks are deeply upset that Lucasfilm put out the 2004 Original Trilogy, which included even more changes than the Special Editions of the late 90's, and then later made a new boxset with the un-tampered-with films, knowing that Star Wars enthusiasts like myself would not be able to say no. True, but I just sold my 2004 boxset and my individual Prequel films, and opted for these two new sets, which take up much less space, and look fantastic in any DVD collection. It's nice to see the "correct" snow cave scene in TESB, and enjoy the "true" Jabba's dancer scene, not to mention the absolute superiority of the original Return of the Jedi ending. None of the SE or 2004 changes were necessary - the only possible exception being the hologram scene featuring Ian McDiarmid, which I do enjoy. But if you prefer the new revisions, those films are also included. You still get beautiful menu screens and nice covers, although more extras never hurt anyone!』 (Sweet Deal too) ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() 『Original Star Wars trilogy dvd's with extra content, all in an attractive set. >,Nathan Fillion,Gina Torres,Alan Tudyk,Morena Baccarin,Adam Baldwinprice: 20th Century Fox Usually ships in 24 hours Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (This show probably isn't what you think it is, but it is as great as you've heard) ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() 『I am one of the original browncoat fans - I watched this show live on Fox back when it was originally broadcast. I would tell all my friends to come over and watch it when it was on (not that it did us any good, it was still canceled in the end). This is character drama at its finest. By the end of the first episode, you will already love the characters. All the more amazing is that there are so many characters to know! But as the show goes on, you learn a little more about each of them. It's rare that you find a TV show that makes the people the center of the show, but this show pulls it off in spades. Did I mention that it's a show set in space, and sometimes they act a little bit like cowboys? Don't let that throw you off. For most movies or TV shows that are set in space, I'd say "If you're not a fan of this genre, this show/movie/whatever won't change your mind." Well, in this case, don't worry about the space or cowboy theme - this show WILL change your mind. You will grow fond of the people and the ship they travel in, come to appreciate the worlds they travel through and the characters they meet, and be shocked by the choices they make. I as much as any original browncoat was crushed to see the show get canceled: imagine all the stories they could have told! We could have found out more about the blue-handed men, or what Shephard Book's past was, or what was up with Inara's vial - but we really never will. Instead, we got some of the best TV you'll ever see in a very imaginative world. I should point out that every one of my friends that I showed the show to ended up loving it. All of them, even my friends that "don't watch TV." You will be quoting this show for a while: "Pain is scary." "Shiny." "You buy this ship, treat her proper, she'll be with you the rest of your life." Trust me, it's worth it. Keep flying.』 (Outstanding) ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() 『Was a fan when this series was on the SciFi and still enjoy the series on Blu-ray. Hope another movie is made soon.』 (Firefly Love/Hate) ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() 『Honestly this is probably the best collection that can be made for this painfully short series. I love this show and greatly appreciate this collection. I would say a must have for any fan of this series, with a blu-ray player. Love this product, Hate that the show did not go on.』 (Blu-ray but not remaster) ![]() ![]() 『The blu-ray version isn't a remaster. Others said it was an improvement, but I'm not getting the full HD experience I've come to expect. It's graining and I'm only on a 42" plasma. There are only a few extra features/commentaries that have been added. So, replacing my DVD set was a waste of money too my view. If you are purchasing the series for the first time, you can go with the blu-ray for the little extra cost if you want. But if you own the DVD set, I wouldn't replace it for this and I'm not going to recommend you pay the extra for the Blu-ray at this point.』 (Don't See What The Fuss Is About...) ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() 『Long time Firefly fan here, and about a year collector of Blu-Ray. I personally do not see why there is people complaining about this set. Is the picture the most beautiful Blu-Ray ever? No it does not compare to sets like Band Of Brothers,or Dollhouse, but the set still looks gorgeous. Now i am an owner of a PLASMA HDTV,and have Firefly on dvd as well,i watched an episode on Blu-Ray then an episode on Dvd both in the Blu-Ray player, and there was a HUGE difference. The picture i think is absolutely beautiful,as said its not perfect, but it is indeed a big difference over the dvd, i highly recommend this blu-ray set. I realize i did not say much in my review but i personally hate reading big reviews, and im sure you do to. I just really recommend this for Blu-Ray regardless of what others said. Its not perfect but it is a huge difference. Also the Roundtable special feature, although really short,i loved every minute of it.』 『Studio: Tcfhe Release Date: 11/11/2008 Run time: 658 minutes Rating: Nr』 『As the 2005 theatrical release ofSerenitymade clear,Fireflywas a science fiction concept that deserved a second chance. Devoted fans (or "Browncoats") knew it all along, and with this well-packaged DVD set, those who missed the show's original broadcasts can see what they missed. Creator Joss Whedon's ambitious science-fiction Western (Whedon's third series afterBuffy the Vampire SlayerandAngel) was canceled after only 11 of these 14 episodes had aired on the Fox network, but history has proven that its demise was woefully premature. Whedon's generic hybrid got off to a shaky start when network executives demanded an action-packed one-hour premiere ("The Train Job"); in hindsight the intended two-hour pilot (also titled "Serenity," and oddly enough, the final episode aired) provides a better introduction to the show's concept and splendid ensemble cast. Obsessive fans can debate the quirky logic of combining spaceships with direct parallels to frontier America (it's 500 years in the future, and embattled humankind has expanded into the galaxy, where undeveloped "outer rim" planets struggle with the equivalent of Old West accommodations), but Whedon and his gifted co-writers and directors make it work, at least well enough to fashion a credible context from the incongruous culture-clashing of past, present, and future technologies, along with a polyglot language (the result of two dominant superpowers) that combines English with an abundance of Chinese slang. What makes it work is Whedon's delightfully well-chosen cast and their nine well-developed characters--a typically Whedon-esque extended family--each providing a unique perspective on their adventures aboard Serenity, the junky but beloved "Firefly-class" starship they call home. As a veteran of the disadvantaged Independent faction's war against the all-powerful planetary Alliance (think of it as Underdogs vs. Overlords), Serenity captain Malcolm Reynolds (Nathan Fillion) leads his compact crew on a quest for survival. They're renegades with an amoral agenda, taking any job that pays well, butFirefly'scomplex tapestry of right and wrong (and peace vs. violence) is richer and deeper than it first appears. Tantalizing clues about Blue Sun (an insidious mega-corporation with a mysteriously evil agenda), its ties to the Alliance, and the traumatizing use of Serenity's resident stowaway (Summer Glau) as a guinea pig in the development of advanced warfare were clear indicationsFireflywas heading for exciting revelations that were precluded by the series' cancellation. Fortunately, the big-screenSerenity(which can be enjoyed independently of the series) ensured that Whedon's wild extraterrestrial west had not seen its final sunset. Its very existence confirms that these 14 episodes (and enjoyable bonus features) will endure as irrefutable proof Fox made a glaring mistake in canceling the series. --Jeff Shannon On the Blu-ray discs BeyondFireflyon Blu-ray

>,Patrick McGoohan,Angelo Muscat,Peter Swanwick,Leo McKern,Kenneth Griffinprice: E HOME VIDEO Usually ships in 24 hours Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review ("...We Have A Citizen's Advice Bureau Up There...They're Very Good Apparently...") ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() 『*** UK BLU RAY ISSUE *** When the 1st episode of "The Prisoner" was aired by ITV in September 1967 in the UK (June 1968 in the USA by CBS), "Sgt. Peppers" was still at number one and the Summer of Love was in full swing. All things seemed possible - and at the same time - with the Vietnam War, Race Riots and the escalation of Government control over personal lives - many things seemed slightly sinister too... Enter into this volatile soup the cocky and charismatic actor Patrick McGoohan fresh from his global TV success as John Drake in "Danger Man". The distinctly voiced actor (born in New York, but raised in Ireland and Britain) had a mind-bending idea for a new "spy" TV series limited to only 7 episodes. "The Village" would be a self-contained world where no one had a name but a number - and would act as a sort of containment home for retired secret agents that big-brother Government wanted to control and keep an eye on. Each week would see a new Number 2 trying to crack Number 6 (McGoohan) through ever more elaborate means. It was a brilliant pitch and Lew Grade (head of Independent Television) thought it was "...crazy enough that it might just work...". But come February 1968 when the truly-out-there final episode "Fall Out" was aired, McGoohan was on the defensive and practically being run out of his own country by angry and confused fans... How utterly cool! First to the details - UK-released on BLU RAY in September 2009 (Oct 2009 in the USA with different packaging) - this UK-only packaging is a wide box-of-chocolates shaped set with two compartments - the first contains a near-300 page paperback book entitled "The Prisoner - A Complete Production Guide" by ANDREW PIXLEY. It was originally produced exclusively for NETWORK and their 2007 remastered DVD box and is reprinted here; the second inset has a 6-disc BLU RAY clip box (each disc features a different picture). It contains all 17 episodes (the complete series) and has copious amounts of extras including input from those involved, previously unseen behind-the-scenes footage and several commentaries by the production crew. While the paperback is fan-obsessed with details and a truly informative account, it is completely devoid of any photographs, which I feel is not just disappointing, but does this otherwise fantastic presentation a major disservice. While there are loads of pictures on Disc 6 (in High Def) and fabulous complimentary features too - it would have been nice to trawl over a really good book featuring photos of those superb production values. No disrespect to the author whose work here is incredible and must have taken years of research, it just that all words and no visual make it a very dry read (probably too cost-prohibitive). But that minor niggle quickly pales into insignificance once your eyes see the frame-by-frame fully restored 35mm print. Presented in 1:33:1 aspect and filling the full screen - it is ABSOLUTELY GLORIOUS TO LOOK AT - and puts many a modern production to shame. I noticed maybe only one or two occasions where the image had lines or some other stock fault - for 98% of the time, the digitally restored high definition print is faultless and a constant joy and revelation to look at. Filmed in a real-life folly called Portmeirion in Gwynedd in Wales (fans still visit the town in Prisoner regalia), the entire seaside town was the dream of architect Clough Williams-Ellis who purchased the peninsula in 1923 and began building his own Mediterranean village there complete with an English twist. Portmeirion had in fact featured in previous "Danger Man" episodes and McGoohan and his family had often holidayed there. With a budget of£50,000-per-episode, a large uniquely clothed cast of extras and an entire town bathed in summer sunshine to play with, the extraordinary location and production values collided to produce a vision that stuns to this day. The clarity is AWESOME... There's a scene in Episode 1 "Arrival" where McGoohan is offered a chair in Number Two's lair - a hole in the floor slides across and up pops a stool - but this time you can clearly see that the hole is cardboard - and not steel. In Episode 2 "The Chimes Of Big Ben" when Nadia Gray wakes up as Number 8, you can see her hair is immaculate and her eyelids are heavily pasted in blue makeup... (the episode also features Finlay Currie as the General who was Magwitch the Convict in David Lean's masterpiece "Great Expectations") - and on it goes! Although made in the late Sixties and featuring those kind of dated hair-dos and fashions, "The Prisoner" rose above that by virtue of its premise - and in fact viewing it some 42 years later - because of this, its still staggeringly relevant - especially on the core subjects of individual freedom and Governmental control... I've reviewed quite a few superlative restorations before this - "North By Northwest", "The Italian Job", "Cool Hand Luke", "Saturday Night, Sunday Morning" and "The Loneliness Of The Long Distance Runner" (see reviews for all), but this takes the gong. "The Prisoner" on BLU RAY is bound to make many fans go weak at the knees and will hopefully draw in a new generation of lovers for one of the most extraordinary television programs ever made. Like William Shatner and Star Trek, McGoohan had a notoriously spiky relationship with the character and TV series that defined and pigeonholed him for decades...but you can't help but feel that Patrick is up there right now beaming down at this wonderful box set. Is "Number 1" that part of you that capitulates - as McGoohan seemed to suggest when the mask was finally unveiled in "Fall Out"? I don't know. But that's what "The Prisoner" is like - it's thought provoking, contemporary and still stunningly brilliant. And now it has the box set on the definitive format that it has always deserved. Reissue of the year - in any format.』 (Great Picture, Sound Quibbles) ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() 『I just got the set and right away, I agree with other reviewers - the picture is great! I never thought it could look so good. I'm constantly pausing the show to enjoy the image. The stereo sound is another matter. Right during part 2 of the opening, ("Where am I?" "In the Village."), I hear that remastered sound "anomaly" that plagues restored movies. When the Rover bubble comes up, there's a swooshing, swirling, muddy sound like it was played in a revolving cylinder. I noticed it again in "The Chimes Of Big Ben" when Number 6 starts putting the radio speaker into the small fridge. When I went to the mono track, the sound was back to normal. Thank you, A&E, for keeping that option! I'm sticking with mono from now on. That swirly sound in DVD movies is most often heard during explosions. It bugs the heck out of me. If the sound engineers can't improve a sound, why don't they just leave it alone? I'm only running this through a home stereo, so I don't know if a fancy 3.1 or 5.1 audio setup would correct this. The only other quibble is why the episode theme is so much louder than the rest of the show. I love the theme music, but why the difference? (I've only watched "The Chimes Of Big Ben" so far). In summary, it's a great product. Okay, one more quibble. Why did they change the logo? I love the Prisoner typeface, so why remove the eyecatching original? To make it like the remake, I suppose. The same is true of the Mission: Impossible DVDs and the Invaders DVD sets. (I had a hard time finding The Invaders set on the shelf because the title style was so bland).』 (EYE popping Blu-RAY editon.....) ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() 『Hello Folks, rather that discuss this legendary series , I'm here to report (after release and purchase) that this is a stunning looking Blu-Ray. There was much conversation before the release as to if it was the better UK version or simply a rehash of previous domestic standard DVD and video and its obvious to the eye that this is the best available and actually shockingly terrific looking. If you are a fan upgrade immediately...its 50% off and worth every penny. You can read about the series on many other reviews if you are not familiar with it but I figure most people looking for the BLu-Ray version know the show and are asking...about the quality. Its GREAT!』 (Awesome picture and sound, bad subtitles) ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() 『Let me start by saying this set looks amazing! The quality is a huge improvement over the previous dvd version and the sound is also pretty good although some will be upset that there is no hd audio track. The extras are pretty good although a large amount of them are in standard definition, a bit disappointing for a somewhat pricey blu-ray set. I would have been pretty much completely happy and given the set 5 out of 5 stars had I not discovered the terrible job of subtitling that was done - My wife is from Japan and sometimes has problems understanding accents so she asked that I turn on the subtitles for her. Pretty much every line is paraphrased. With a show this intelligent and considering all the wit and sarcasm that comes from Mcgoohan something is definitely lost in translation. They even paraphrased one of the shows most famous lines: I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed, or numbered! My life is my own. With as much money as I paid for this you would think they could pay someone to actually translate correctly :( 』 (Amazing Picture Quality-Like Watching It For The First Time) ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() 『Other reviewers on this site as well as countless websites and books have discussed the brilliance of this television show, so I will not be discussing the show itself but rather the picture and sound quality of this amazing edition. I have been a long time fan of this show and have the collection on regular DVD and have seen it in various runs on television. Watching the blu-ray edition, however, is almost like watching it for the first time. The picture quality, the colors, the sound are all astonishing. The bright colors are brighter than ever but I also noticed all sorts of little details in the background that I had never noticed before, and you really notice the excellence of the soundtrack (please note my comments on the sound are based on the mono sound not the 5.1). I think the degree of picture detail is why it felt like it was watching a new show. If you are a true fan this is a must have and really if you are a fan it would be worth buying a blu-ray player just to watch these.』 『Since its CBS debut in the summer of 1968, the masterful British TV series THE PRISONER has captivated American audiences. Now A&E presents a definitive aficionado's edition of the cult classic which is considered one of the most innovative TV series ever filmed, for the first time in breathtaking Blu-Ray. Fully restored from the original film elements with newly remixed 5.1 surround sound and featuring hours of bonus material never released in North America, THE PRISONER: BLU-RAY EDITION is a fitting tribute to the creative vision of the late Executive Producer and Star Patrick McGoohan. After resigning from a top-secret position, a man (McGoohan) is abducted and spirited from his London home to a mysterious place known only as 'The Village.' Village Residents, known only by numbers, are held captive because each possesses valuable knowledge. The Prisoner, now known as Number Six, battles to protect his mind -- and his humanity -- while struggling to discover the identity of Number One and escape captivity. 』 『If a top-level spy decided he didn't want to be a spy anymore, could he just walk into HQ and hand in his resignation? With all that classified knowledge in his head, would he be allowed to become a civilian again, free to go about his life? The answer, according to the stylish, brilliantly conceived 1960s British TV seriesThe Prisoner, is a resounding no. In fact, instead of receiving a gold watch for his years of faithful service, our hero (played by Patrick McGoohan) is followed home to his London flat and knocked unconscious. When he awakens, he finds himself in a picturesque village where everyone is known by a number. Where is it? Why was he brought here? And, most important, how does he leave? As we learn in Episode 1, Number 6 can't leave. The Village's "citizens" might dress colorfully and stroll around its manicured gardens while a band plays bouncy Strauss marches, but the place is actually a prison. Surveillance is near total, and if all else fails, there's always the large, mysterious white ball that subdues potential escapees by temporarily smothering them. Who runs the Village? An ever-changing Number 2, who wants to know why Number 6 resigned. If he'd only cooperate, he's told, life can be made very pleasant. "I've resigned," he fumes. "I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed, or numbered. My life is my own." So sets the stage for the ultimate battle of wills: Number 6's struggle to retain his privacy, sanity, and individuality against the array of psychological and physical methods the Village uses to break him. So does he ever escape? And does he ever find out who Number 1 is? "Questions are a burden to others," the Village saying goes. "Answers, a prison for oneself." When it can transcend the very genre it's in and becomes an event, something that can cause people to think, to talk, to debate, to embrace it so much you feel you need to see it again and again because you feel you missed something the other ten times you saw it. "Gone with the Wind", "The Wizard of Oz", "Star Wars", "The Lord of the Rings" films....all great event films. Add Christopher Nolan's "The Dark Knight" to this list. As a lifelong fan of comic book superheroes, there are quite a few that i've taken to my heart: Superman, Spiderman, The Fantastic Four, X-Men,the Hulk, etc, etc. I've always loved Batman. Even through the numerous comics, which i still read to this day, the cartoons, even the campy 60s tv series, as well Tim Burton's great, dark reimagining of the mythos in the late 80s, Batman remains one of my all-time favorites. What Nolan has created with "The Dark Knight" cant truly be put into a few, simple sentences. Impossible. This film is one of the few true definitions of a masterpiece. It's intelligent, cold, unrelenting, extremely dark and at times disturbing and it's these adjectives that, for me, make it perfect. In the brilliant "Batman Begins", Nolan dissected and broke down the origin of The DC Comics vigilante, giving us a glimpse of the very twisted, emotional elements that drove one man to assume the identity of a creature of the night. He presented this as a character study of a man, seemingly normal on the outside, with wealth, power, and influence, yet tortured, driven, disturbed, trying to find a way to unleash his demons upon those who live to choose to break the law and destroy the moral fabric of "society". In "The Dark Knight", we go a few levels further....into the very bowels of HELL. This time, Batman struggles not just with the questionable choices he has made to protect Gotham City, with many people divided over how they feel about his presence, he also must face a new criminal who spreads anarchy and uncontrolled chaos all over town, the Joker. Now, we all know much has been written and said about the late Heath Ledger's portrayal of the Joker....BUT HE'S SOOOO GODDAMN BRILLIANT!!!! This is the Joker the way he should be portrayed. As much as i loved Jack Nicholson's Joker from Burton's '89 film, hes a punk compared to what Ledger created. Ledger's Joker is cold, calculating evil in its purest form....a man so unfeeling, so depraved, so demonic...he doesnt commit crimes for reward, notoriety, or what we'd consider intimate pleasure; he does because he simply wants to, plain and simple. He sees the world as a place to be broken and manipulated, consequences be damned. Scary, aint it? Think of the killers of Columbine, or V-Tech, even the Unabomber. Even Satan. No conscience. Evil for evil. Ledger won a very deserved posthumous Oscar for his work. The great Christian Bale is the ultimate Batman for our time. Driven, dark, cold-blooded but not without a sense of honor. He digs deeper into the psychology of Bruce Wayne, creating a portrait of someone fighting a war he might never win, a war that creates more demons and more pain than he can stop, yet doesnt give in to the monsters he opposes. Bale and Ledger are magnificent together. As great as they are, its the supporting performances that help them shine. Overall, theres not a bad performance from anyone, AT ALL. Only the best caliber of actors dominate this film. Gary Oldman's Detective James Gordon is a picture of powerful moral conviction and simple passion as he stands by Batman in the fight against crime; Michael Caine's Alfred is the deep, fatherly, yet caring voice of no-nonsense reason to Wayne/Batman; Maggie Gyllenhall makes a more intense Rachel Dawes than Katie Holmes; Morgan Freeman is dignity personified as Lucius Fox. Special mention should be made, though, for Aaron Eckhart, who plays D.A. Harvey Dent/Two Face. Like Batman and Gordon, he wants to wipe out crime in Gotham City, yet he suffers from a fatal flaw: he's idealistic. Its this flaw that the Joker will exploit and twist and ultimately damage, and it leads to Dent becoming Two Face, a scarred, deranged, hopeless man broken and twisted almost as much the Joker himself. There are no easy answers in this film, with its nihilistic view of good and evil and how sometimes, even good men can be pushed to their moral limits. Thats what i loved about this film. Nothing is simple, nothing is easy, and isnt that the way life is? Films about superheroes are a mixed breed: some are great, some not. I love the original Superman w/Christopher Reeve, and Spiderman, and Bryan Singer's X-Men, yet "Dark Knight" is, to me, the epic for our troubled times. Intelligent, huge, well written and acted. Director Christopher Nolan takes his place among the newest generation of filmmakers who dont treat their audiences like simple-minded children. A powerful film from a powerful visionary.』 (Brilliance) ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() 『I cannot say enough about the latest Batman movie, The Dark Knight directed by Christopher Nolan. The combination of the acting, mise-en-scen, and cinematography all amalgamate to provide the viewer with spectacular artistic images, excellent portrayals of characteristic ideologies, and as well as a thrilling psychological plot. The acting led by Christian Bale and Heath Ledger is only to be followed by an outstanding all star cast including Morgan Freeman, Gary Oldman, and Aaron Eckhart. Bale continues his role as Bruce Wayne and his alter ego Batman for the second time after his initial success in Batman Begins. No matter how great of a performance Christian Bale put out there for the audience, his acting will forever be overshadowed by that of Heath Ledger who died shortly after the making of the film, and thus this movie will forever be known as "the role that killed Heath." Christopher Nolan and Heath worked tremendously together capturing the essence of the half serial killer, half chaotic sociopath adding tremendous depth and complexity to the Joker not seen in the original comics. The only weak point in this cast in my opinion was Maggie Gyllenhaal who replaced Katie Holmes from the previous film. She looked old and out of touch with the whole Bruce Wayne and Rachael Dawes typical comic love affair, but simply their chemistry on stage did not coincide. The Mise-en-scen of The Dark Knight refers to everything on stage (the props, sets, costumes, and acting), and was mainly the brainchild of Nolan's brilliant thinking. Combined with the cinematography or how the movie was filmed (lighting, camera angles, camera movement, etc.) Nolan creates stunning visuals for the two and a half hour saga of good against evil. The film itself contains many long shots and astonishing background and inversion camera clippings creating stunning visuals on the big screen. The set seems to be jammed packed with props and intricate details that the viewer can really appreciate. Many resent the fact that it is over one hundred and fifty minutes long, but actually on the contrary I believe it adds to the overall suspense and to be frank any shorter of the movie would undoubtedly fail to do justice to the actors and plot of the film. In conclusion the viewer should buy this movie for the action scenes, excellent examples of great directing, an all -star cast, not to mention the fact that it was Heath Ledger's last film ever.』 (Beyond what I expected) ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() 『Knowning all the hype that was put out about this movie had me very very concerned. Due to, from past experience, the lack of substance that a movie will have once completed and in theaters. More times than not a movie with such over hype usually is just a way for studios to try to gain money from the audeince who doesn't know any better and once it is seen it falls away into oblivian. That was my concern about this movie. That it would suck so bad that it completely destory Batman as a comic book character that has been around since the early 20th century. Just because studios think that the masses are just dumb sheep who will make a hit out of a movie just because of a lot of advertising was put behind it. However, I was pleasantly proven wrong about this movie. What Christpher Nolan did with Batman Begins he built upon in this one. We see a city still in dispair to the point of breaking. Yet there is hope on the streets and fear starting emerge in the hearts of criminals, all because of Batman. Along comes the Joker. He is a sucidal maniac who wants to prove to the world that it sits on a thin thread between chaos and order. Thinking that most of society, at its heart, is chaotic is oout to take down the only thing standing between him and complete anarchy, Batman. To take down the Joker and his diabolical plans Batman, LT. Gordon, and newly appointed D.A. Harvey Dent team up. Although, the heroes of this story try to take down the Joker through moral ways he makes it very difficult for them to make the right decision and become a symbol of hope for the city of Gotham. In the end the movie blew me away and then some. The script was well written. The movie was well acted by everyone included. And the moral choices that the characters had to make pushed comic book heroes into the real life that everyone can identify with.』 (Bats in the belfry) ![]() ![]() 『 A botched ending ruins an otherwise fine film that was shaping up to be even better than Batman Begins and one of the best action films of recent years. So how come 2 and not 4 stars? Unfortunately the botch-up hits the movie like an iceberg to the Titanic and substantially undoes all the brilliant build-up work that precedes it. The movie is filled with the good guys making one tough choice after another, in the face of a terrifying new evil, as one excellent set-piece and set-up follows another in a complex, logical and satisfying manner. The movies length is more than justified by the unfolding of the whole complex series of moral dilemmas and their interesting resolutions. All that is, until the extremely clumsy and laughable resolution at the very end. The grand climax, the big payola is an execrable damp squib. If the people of Gotham, and even her criminals, can pass their moral tests on the boats, how come Gordon and Batman make such a ham's fist of something so simple as telling the people the truth? The Joker's has been captured, but sadly Dent was sent over the edge by the Joker's mad schemes. Surely the truth was the best fortification for Gotham's soul against future attacks by the Joker? What on earth are Gordon and Batman thinking when they hastily arrange a cover-up? Is Dent's reputation more important than the truth that he cracked under the demented pressure of the Joker? This is not a minor mis-step, a 'dark', 'bad' or 'mistaken' choice by Batman and Gordon. It is an absolute howler by the scriptwriters. After 150 minutes of brilliant mayhem Gotham has the Joker by the balls. Gordon and Batman simply have to the pull the trigger. Instead they contrive to lie to the public, magnify the Joker's evil persona and make a complete mockery of all the brilliant moral posturing that has preceded them. A potentially great film, has been reduced to a pile of dreary and incoherent mush, by a few moments of madness. Listening to Gordon spew great wads of philosophical drivel to try to justify the botched ending is a minor masterpiece-of-disaster in itself. Comics are never heavy on philosophy, although they are usually heavy on the posturing. What was so giddyingly exciting about this movie was that it threatened to raise the level of intelligence and wit of a comic-book adaptation several notches higher than most adaptations, not on the stylistic front, where thay nearly all score heavily, but on the thinking front, in this case with a brilliant series of moral dilemma traps set by the nutty Joker for his protagonists to solve and resolve. Dent fails, the people win, Caine and Freeman ain't playing so they can afford to look on knowingly, Dent's girl gets at least a pass for her efforts, so how come the two most important guys are so completely let-down by the script? Make no mistake - this is not a 'dark' ending, it is an extremely poor one, one that completely flattens the whole point of the exercise. Which is extremely sad and horribly anti-climactic, because nearly everything else is zingingly on-point. Bale, Caine, Eckhart, of course Ledger - everyone does a fine job, the plot is both intricate and interesting, the action is just fine and once again, director Nolan does a grand job of bringing the comic-book Batman to life on the big-screen. I think everyone was so desperate for this to be a great film, that they have allowed themselves to get all confused about the meaning and motive of the characters, plot and details, and so have contributed to the excessive hype - nearly all of it justified with respect to the first two hours of the movie, nearly all of it coompletely missing the point with respect to the ending and resolution of the movie. It is a sad day, when bamboozled by media hype and enormously loud special effects, the majority of the public are no longer able to accurately judge what does and does not constitue a great film. 』 (A Nearly Three Hour Speech) ![]() ![]() ![]() 『Mention character study as a reason to watch a movie to me, and you have just counterproducted yourself. When you say character study, I often say people study. Unlike some movie fans, I try my best to say grounded with reality, trying very hard not get impressed by every character on the screen as much as possible, getting to know (or observing) interesting people, getting into interesting experiences situations by myself, basically, all things real life. That doesn't mean I dislike a character study. Even though plot, film making, characters are crucial in making a movie complete. Interesting characters really can make a movie all that better. Oh who am I kidding? Bland characters can kill a movie. Just ask Roland Emmerich, as his characters are so bland that all the special effects in the world can't make a great movie (although, surprise surprise, his later). Characters in movies are a peculiar thing. Some of them can be memorable, easy to love, identify, and let you watch and believe it, feeling everything the character is, loving or hating the person on screen. Even sometimes, the actors can make a character that isn't totally unique fall into this catergory. On the flip side, so many characters in movies are so "real" that watching them makes you wonder why the hell your even watching these personalities on the screen. So much that you realize that you aren't living a life of your own at all. Chances are, they don't have much plot revolving around them either. The Dark Knight is being touted as the most realistic and intelligent comic book movie ever, a label that has so much laughable baggage in it. Basically, I see the whole Batman and DC comic label a gimmick. The story is not that interesting underneath, there is no atmosphere, the characters are not that interesting, the themes are't that original, and everything is ANALYZED to death (Nostalgia Critic hit the nail on what he meant about that). The Nostalgia Critic was right about what he said about analyzed, as everything is talked about at length. And many of the speeches aren't even that original. When the Joker is talking about how civiled people turn into animals, DOES THAT SOUND FAMILIAR? It something that was told in Lord of the Flies, nay, Freud's concept of the id, ego, and supergo already. And Freud's concept says a lot more in less tedious ways. So who are the characters? Yes, the Joker is all about anarchy and chaos, but so are many other people. Sure, none have been close to taking over a city, but I think that most can figure out that anarchy can get out of hand. Frankly, seeing it really isn't that interesting. The Joker also really doesn't resemble the comic books as much as he should. When drawn, the Joker looks INSANE, crazy, and loony. I remember how much I used to shake at the sight of such pictures as Batman: The Man Who Laughs. Heath Ledger's joker look still doesn't do that much for me. And forget his . Jack Nicholson's is a litte more fun, and since Heath doesn't scare me that much, Nicholson's cartoony edge makes him more fun to watch. The Dark Knight, however, is not a bad movie. Christopher Nolan is a great director, the acting is stellar, the music is great, basically, the technical aspects are excellent. The action scenes are exciting, as well as some great scenes that I liked scattered about. I also loved the Batmobile and the batbike, watching his costumes, and Heath Ledger's brillaint scene with his hostage. It wasn't exactly scary, but I could only imagine the silence that followed in the theater after it. Also, Two-Face was the best incarnation of the villian, considering that the first incarnation of the villian, well nevermind. Gary Oldman also was a much better Detective Gordon, simply because how well he sinks into the role. Oldman can sink into anything. Yes, I do like Tim Burton's Batman series better, but that's not why I am rating this as an average movie. Rather everything else above makes it average. While this is miles better than the Joel Schumacher movies (Ya think?), it's touted "realism" is third person, which really hampers the movie since it has absolutely nothing to really offer besides that, a character study. Did I enjoy it? Sure. However, I expected a whole lot more, and The Dark Knight would probably not even got if it wasn't bagged as a comic book movie (ugh), no less known as a Batman movie.』 『The follow-up to Batman Begins, The Dark Knight reunites director Christopher Nolan and star Christian Bale, who reprises the role of Batman/Bruce Wayne in his continuing war on crime. With the help of Lt. Jim Gordon and District Attorney Harvey Dent, Batman sets out to destroy organized crime in Gotham for good. The triumvirate proves effective, but soon find themselves prey to a rising criminal mastermind known as The Joker, who thrusts Gotham into anarchy and forces Batman closer to crossing the fine line between hero and vigilante. Heath Ledger stars as archvillain The Joker, and Aaron Eckhart plays Dent. Maggie Gyllenhaal joins the cast as Rachel Dawes. Returning from Batman Begins are Gary Oldman as Gordon, Michael Caine as Alfred and Morgan Freeman as Lucius Fox.』 『The Dark Knightarrives with tremendous hype (best superhero movie ever? posthumous Oscar for Heath Ledger?), and incredibly, it lives up to all of it. But calling it the best superhero movie ever seems like faint praise, since part of what makes the movie great--in addition to pitch-perfect casting, outstanding writing, and a compelling vision--is that it bypasses the normal fantasy element of the superhero genre and makes it all terrifyingly real. Harvey Dent (Aaron Eckhart) is Gotham City's new district attorney, charged with cleaning up the crime rings that have paralyzed the city. He enters an uneasy alliance with the young police lieutenant, Jim Gordon (Gary Oldman), and Batman (Christian Bale), the caped vigilante who seems to trust only Gordon--and whom only Gordon seems to trust. They make progress until a psychotic and deadly new player enters the game: the Joker (Heath Ledger), who offers the crime bosses a solution--kill the Batman. Further complicating matters is that Dent is now dating Rachel Dawes (Maggie Gyllenhaal, after Katie Holmes turned down the chance to reprise her role), the longtime love of Batman's alter ego, Bruce Wayne. In his last completed role before his tragic death, Ledger is fantastic as the Joker, a volcanic, truly frightening force of evil. And he sets the tone of the movie: the world is a dark, dangerous place where there are no easy choices. Eckhart and Oldman also shine, but as good as Bale is, his character turns out rather bland in comparison (not uncommon for heroes facing more colorful villains). Director-cowriter Christopher Nolan (Memento) follows his critically acclaimedBatman Beginswith an even better sequel that sets itself apart from notable superhero movies likeSpider-Man 2andIron Manbecause of its sheer emotional impact and striking sense of realism--there are no suspension-of-disbelief superpowers here. At 152 minutes, it's a shade too long, and it's much too intense for kids. But for most movie fans--and not just superhero fans--The Dark Knightis a film for the ages.--David Horiuchi On the Blu-ray disc Disc 2 has two 45-minute documentaries on Bat-gadgets and on the psychology of Batman, both in high definition. More engaging are six eight-minute segments of Gotham Central, a faux-news program that gives some background to events in the movie, plus a variety of trailers, poster art, and more. The BD-Live component on disc 1 is more interesting than on some earlier Blu-ray discs, which could be simply a matter of the content starting to catch up with the technology. Well let me tell you, this set is just phenomenon. You really get a very serious appreciation of how this series was made and the work and the effort that has gone into it. This cartoon series is a cut above the rest. This is not your regular 2-d cartoon and some of the stuff is failry new and pioneer. But this series has chock full of action, story and adventure. This set was just gorgeous and if this was just the first season, imagine season 2 and beyond.』 (I have a good feeling about this.) ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() 『Show: 4/5 Video Quality: 5/5 Sound Quality: 4/5 Extras: 4/5 Overall: 4.25/5 The Clone Wars must have inspired some kind of wonder ever since Mark Hamill mentioned it in a brief line in the first original movie. Even though it's briefly shown in the prequel films and a cool little cartoon made in 2003, there is still a lot to explore. Following the 2008 CGI Clone Wars movie, this show features the same funky blocky characters and semi-artistic rendering, but it seems to be of higher quality. Lighting effects, animation movements, lip movements, and action scenes overall seem much improved from the pilot film. More importantly, with multiple story lines to follow, the series offers better stories with deeper issues and stronger characters (characters ranging from the main heroes Anakin, Yoda, Obi-Wan, etc to the lesser known characters like Aayla Secura, Plo Koon, Kit Fisto, etc). The show has loads of great action scenes and high-quality effects. There are adventures on many different worlds (once again, some well-known like Naboo, Coruscant, etc to lesser-known ones like Iego), each offering imaginative design and impressive imagery. Production design (sets, props, costumes, vehicles, weapons, etc) matches the Star Wars universe and fits in perfectly; fans should be able to recognize a huge number of familiar elements, mixed in with cool new stuff. Music is not bad. All together, it's an awesome show that fits nicely in the franchise. This disc set features perfect PQ; I could not find any faults with it whatsoever. It's very sharp and clean, with excellent color and contrast. It is presented in an aspect ratio that is wider than the original broadcast version, providing more of the image to be seen. Sound quality is acceptable (Dolby Digital 5.1), but as a lossy soundtrack, it's not as clean as it could have been, and lacks impact (despite the show's cool sound design). This set includes some cool extras (featurettes, a database feature, trailers, etc). It comes in a large, thick, rather nice digibook-type package with some cool production art inside.』 (Well worth the price on Amazon!) ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() 『I was very excited when I first read these were coming out as a box set on Blu Ray, but the original price many retail outlets were advertising made me cringe. Thankfully, Amazon came along at nearly half the price! Since I pre-ordered, these were at my door the day it came out. I'm with many out there that are annoyed by having a HD TV and outside of football, rarely get to enjoy the quality it was made to bring in my viewing experience. Cartoon Network does not have HD for these where I am, so this set was a treat. I missed many of the earlier episodes as well, so I also got to do some catch up. Episodes like "Ambush", "Hostage Crisis" and the whole "Ryloth" trilogy make these alone a must own for any true fan of the series, or Star Wars. Yes, like any show, there are weak episodes (all the Jar Jar episodes (three of them) are even more annoying because they know the disdain so many fans have for this character, yet for some reason "King George" thinks it cute to shove him down people's throats). But overall, there are so many quality episodes and plotlines that you can't even get irriated by the handful of weak episodes on these discs. The extras are top notch, as are the animation and blu ray experience.』 (Great show with room for improvement...) ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() 『First of all, I should say I LOVE this series. There is nothing like it on TV, and once again Star Wars is breaking new ground. The show is quality. It can be enjoyed by kids and adults alike. The graphic design of the settings and characters is beautiful, and the story lines are thoughtful and interesting. As an added bonus, you get to see some characters and species from the Star Wars universe come to life. I particularly enjoyed seeing the IG-88-type assassin droids in action and Aurra Sing in one episode. As a lot of reviewers have said, the Blu-Ray format is a must here. Simply dazzling. Now comes the "BUT..." There were a few things that I think could be improved upon. 3D animation: The movement of the characters is not always fluid or natural-looking. I think they claim to have improved upon this for Season 2. Some of the lip-syncing doesn't look particularly great, either. I have seen some examples of improvement in this arena in Season 2, as well. In at least one episode, I spotted a glaring rendering error in which you could see through Padme's head from the back. I was amazed the error wasn't caught and corrected. Writing: A couple episodes dragged a little. There were also a few plot holes, such as Anakin and Obi-Wan cleverly swapping away their drugged drinks at the end of one episode, but then finding themselves waking from a drugged coma in a holding cell at the beginning of the next episode. Did I miss something??? Voice acting: Some of the character voices sounded like they were done by real amateurs. Ahmed Best played Jar-Jar in one episode, and then in the next Jar-Jar episode it sounded like they pulled someone in off the street. I swear, I can do a better Jar-Jar impersonation than the person who played him in the "Gungan General" episode. I should mention that the actor who did the clone voices was exceptional. He modified the voice ever so slightly from clone to clone, so they don't all sound exactly alike. Annoying/campy characters: I didn't hate Jar-Jar as much as everyone else in the prequels. Sure, he was a bumbling idiot, but his bumbling usually ended up accidentally generating positive results. I could overlook that. The Clone Wars will make you HATE Jar-Jar if you don't already. His goofiness ends up destroying ships, killing a senator, and costing the Republic victory on several occasions. You have to ask yourself, "WHY ON EARTH would you bring him along anywhere???" Throw him in prison, and the Republic can win the war in a week. The spinning flying-saucer ship of the pirates and the cliche evil scientist/mad doctor were just a couple examples of George Lucas getting a little too nostalgic for Saturday morning serials at the expense of this series. I think all of these flaws can be excused and remedied as the series progresses. Overall, the show is beautiful and brilliant. Can't wait to see more. 』 (Great cartoon.) ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() 『I was waiting for the whole season to come out before I bought this cartoon. I hate "volumes" because its just a way of milking the consumer for more money. Thanks to Lucasfilms for not being greedy and releasing the whole season as a set, and on Blu-Ray no less! It's definitely worth getting this Blu-Ray release, it looks amazing. Great cartoon as well. Much better than all the crap anime that our children are forced to watch these days.』 『The "Clone Wars" goes back to the original Star Wars film when Obi-Wan Kenobi tells Luke Skywalker that he was once a Jedi knight the same as your father and that they fought together in the Clone Wars. Since that moment fans have been obsessed with what the clone wars were. This new TV series takes place immediately after the events of Star Wars-Episode II: Attack of the Clones. The series follows Obi-Wan Kenobi and his apprentice Anakin Skywalker and introduces us to some new characters such as Ahsoka Tano a girl Jedi knight as well as characters we already know.』 『 Star Wars The Clone Wars: The Complete Season One (TV Series) [Blu-ray] > 『 Star Wars The Clone Wars: The Complete Season One (TV Series) [Blu-ray] > 『 G.I. David Tennant as the doctor and Catherine Tate as his travel companion both give strong performances that sometimes are most endearing. His performance is nothing short of brilliant, and Catherine Tate proves to be his perfect compliment. These adventures seamlessly interweave pertinent details from previous series with an element of surprise or two. If you missed these details while watching on television, the DVDs give an opportunity to pour over them anew. The writing is excellent, but I'd expect nothing less. This series is not to be missed.』 (Doctor Who: The Complete Fourth Season) ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() 『I bought this set for my husband who had always been a Dr. Who fan. And, he loved it! We don't get the newest version in the US. So he had not seen this doctor before. It was a nice surprise for him.』 (Excellent entertainment) ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() 『Pure "Who" - the only problem with this set is that there aren't twice as many episodes. Tennant is the best Doctor since Tom Baker. And the world would have been a poorer place without Donna, the everywoman with a heart of gold and an attitude that'd take paint off a building at 50 yards. This set is a "must have" for any fan.』 『Studio: Warner Home Video Release Date: 11/18/2008 Run time: 655 minutes』 『Kicking off with a jam-packed Christmas special and ending with a blockbuster extended closing installment,Doctor Who's fourth season since it was revived is a breathless, exciting one that also boasts some exceptional episodes. The ones in particular to watch out for are the outstanding "Silence in the Library/Forest of the Dead" doubleheader, the almost-single-location creepfest that is "Midnight," and the trio of "Turn Left," "The Stolen Earth," and "Journey's End" that round off the season. In the midst of those is also one of the very best cliffhangers inDoctor Who's long and glorious history. This is also the season that introduces Catherine Tate as full-time companion Donna Noble, working alongside David Tennant's Doctor across time and space. And it's--against initial expectations--arguably the best combination since the show returned. There's no hint of romance between the pair, as they instead knuckle down to business, occasionally helped by the likes of Martha Jones (Freema Agyeman), Sarah Jane Smith (Elisabeth Sladen), and Jack Harkness (John Barrowman). And let's not forget the collection of monsters we meet this time around. The Daleks and Davros are the main attractions, while the return of the Sontarans proves to be a bit of a disappointment. But after viewing the series, chances are you'll be counting shadows around you, and wary of getting on the wrong side of the Ood. As with most series ofDoctor Who, there are one or two uneven episodes and some missteps, but the show is still unmatched at what it does, and even more confident than last time round. That, along with the immense rewatch value, is what makes this a terrific piece of family entertainment. 『 Doctor Who: The Complete Fourth Series > 『 Doctor Who: The Complete Fourth Series > 『 Doctor Who - The Complete Third Series > 『 Doctor Who - The Complete Third Series > 『 Doctor Who - The Complete Second Series > 『 Doctor Who - The Complete Second Series > 『 Doctor Who: The Complete First Series > 『 Doctor Who: The Complete First Series > 『 Doctor Who: The Next Doctor (2008 Christmas Special) > 『 Doctor Who: The Next Doctor (2008 Christmas Special) > I wanted to buy It↑ タイトル『 Ally McBeal: The Complete Series > 『 Ally McBeal: The Complete Series > 『 Ally McBeal: The Best of Ally McBeal - The Songs of Vonda Shepard > 『 Ally McBeal: The Best of Ally McBeal - The Songs of Vonda Shepard > 『 Tales from the Crypt: The Complete Seasons 1-7 > 『 Tales from the Crypt: The Complete Seasons 1-7 > 『 Ally McBeal: The Complete First Season > 『 Ally McBeal: The Complete First Season > 『 Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (Two-Disc Limited Special Edition + Digital Copy) > 『 Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (Two-Disc Limited Special Edition + Digital Copy) > 『 The Simpsons: The Complete Twelfth Season (Limited Edition Comic Book Guy Head Packaging) >
>,Calista Flockhartprice: 20th Century Fox Usually ships in 24 hours Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (Great show in a basic, albeit decent, box.) ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() 『So, we all either love or hate this show (which is something I've gathered from reading reviews online). Well, I'd have to say that I love the show which is surprising to me since I never really watched in the past. Probably because I was only 11 when it first came on the air. The box set is extremely easy to navigate, compared to some other shows that are a bit of a hassle to get to the disc you want. The complete ALIAS is a really cool, original design--but you have to take a thing out, fold some things back, decipher which folder you want, then get the disc out of the cardboard sleeves. The complete BUFFY has a neat design as well, but the folders are stacked one on top of the other, so when you want season 7 you basically have to unload the whole thing. Both sets look cool, but are a bit of a pain. The Ally McBeal set, on the outside, looks great and the cardboard case (both the slipcase and the inside one that holds the DVD sets) are sturdy enough since it'll just be setting on your shelf. Then you have the 6 DVD multi-cases sitting inside the box. Not much to look out, but I love these new "multi-pack" DVD cases--the ones that are just as big on the outside as a normal single DVD movie release, but they hold up to 6 DVDs. This is especially great if you want to A) just put the seasons on your regular DVD shelf or B) take a season with you, whether you're going to visit some folks, going on a plane ride, etc. My only complaint--which almost made me give it 4--is that the set doesn't have anything in the way of an episode guide. I can find episode guides online, but it's nice to have a hard copy, and it wouldn't have cost too much to put even a flimsy little "pamphlet" style guide in each of the season sets. On the inside of each season case, there is what amounts to an episode list, breaking down which episode is on which disc--but it doesn't give the plot, air date, writer, etc. A booklet (like the ones released on the complete FRIENDS or GILMORE GIRLS sets) would have been great, but there's nothing like that in here.』 (FLAW IN DVD 1 / EPISODE 2) ![]() 『AMAZON SENT 2 SETS AND BOTH FROZE UP IN THE SAME SPOT ON THE FIRST SEASON, DVD 1, EPISODE 2. I love how I am always pleasantly surprised to get my shipment from Amazon so early! Thank you, Amazon. As for the product itself... I love Ally Mcbeal! It used to be my favorite show to watch on TV every Monday. I looked forward to the release of the series for so long. It was very nice to see that finally all the seasons and episodes are in the same package all together. It was also a nice bonus to see the collection of songs in the final disk. However, I have to say, for a long awaited series dvd like Ally Mcbeal, I would've expected more from the packaging of the dvds and also the DVD menu. Everything seems very basic. The menu interface seems like it is something that is bootlegged. Also, I would've expected more special features as well, (i.e. deleted scenes, gag reels, etc). I like the collection of songs a lot, but the CD would've been even better if it had included the songs sung by Robert Downey Jr. as well. Overall, I am satisfied with the product because of the show itself. 』 (Love, Love, Love) ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() 『I just love this series.
