Transformers was a blazing success and a money-making machine back in "the day".For years I wanted to buy all the Transformers and GIJOE DVD's on Amazon but they were all over-priced.Now these collections are very afffordable and nowadays I will never second guess purchasing them all.It's like I missed my chance the first time due to some "personal decisions". But if you are a hardcore Transformers fan like me and still like to re-live your glory days,then you understand me clearly.
So if you want these DVD's then you better not hesitate picking them up on here on Amazon.The more limited they become,the more pricey they become.This definitely applies to all the original 1980's toys and their commemorative re-issues.Shout Factory/Rhino is doing a seamless job with restoring the color of the animation as well as missing scenes not in the originals.They cleaned it up a great deal and corrected some slight errors.

(More Autobots, more Decepticons and more mecha mayhem! 28 episodes for a low price!) 『With the success of the three-part mini-series and the first 13 episodes of Season One, the second season of "THE TRANSFORMERS (More Than Meets the Eye) featured on television back in 1985 featured more characters and more episodes (49 total) which then led to "The Transformers: The Movie" in 1986. And now the second season, volume one will be released with 28 episodes (covering episodes 17-44). And with the release of the first season from SHOUT FACTORY, Transformers fans were happy that the company has corrected problems that were evident with the original DVD set release (from RHINO), have no fear, the second season also features the corrected problems and any problems that were in the old 2002 releases, can expect corrected episodes in the SHOUT! FACTORY releases.
Needless to say that the second season brought excitement as fans were treated with more Dinobot and Insecticon episodes, the introduction to combining teams such as the Aerialbots, the Stunticons, the Protectobots and the Combaticons.The second season also featured introductions to Autobots: Beachcomber, Cosmos, Powerglide, Seaspray, Warpath, Grapple, Hoist, Red Alert, Skids, Smokescreen, Inferno, Tracks, Perceptor, Blaster, Devcon and Omega Supreme. Meanwhile, the Decepticons had Dirge, Ramjet, Thrust, Blitzwing and Astrotrain and many more. Also, the second season would feature more humans that would befriend the Autoobts such as Chip and Carlee.

It's important to note that in July 2009, "THE TRANSFORMERS: 25th Anniversary "Matrix of Leadership" Edition Collector's set was released and has 38 hours of content, the entire original animated "G1 series, many extras and a 16-DVD box set.
VIDEO&AUDIO:
The first season was originally released on DVD back in 2002 from Rhino but was criticized for its high price but most importantly for its problems. Rhino used the original 35mm film masters which gave the series a much more vibrant look but the problem was that the masters did not include the corrections that were shown on the final cut that aired on television and thus the episodes had incomplete animation. Picture quality also had problems with "jaggies" and featured new sound effects that fans of the original series were not entirely very happy with.
This time around, for the 25th Anniversary release of the second season (Volume 1) on DVD, SHOUT FACTORY was not determined to make the same mistake. In the special note segment of "THE TRANSFORMERS (More Than Meets the Eye) - Season Two, Volume One" booklet, the following was mentioned:
Transformers DVDs released prior to our 25th Anniversary Edition were missing animation seen in the original broadcast. We did extensive research, found the discrepancies between the original broadcast masters and the restored masters used for the last DVD release, reinserted the correct animation and color corrected it as best as we could to match the shots before and after. But because a one-inch mater tape simply can't hold up to the quality of the restored masters, you may notice occasional shots - or even scenes - in some episodes that seem slightly softer than others. Just take comfort in knowing that laser blasts have been reinserted, backgrounds have been corrected and Starscream is Starscream once again.
"THE TRANSFORMERS (More than Meets the Eye) - Season Two, Volume One" looks very good on DVD. I've seen a lot of 90's animation make it on DVD and many suffer from a softness that really brings out its age. Granted, you can tell the picture quality is of an 80's animation but it doesn't look soft. The animation does have a good number of dust particles throughout the video but it's not very distracting (although, I hope if the series does get a High-Definition transfer, if it is possible, I do hope they do clean the video up of the dust particles). But otherwise, for an 80's animation to look this good and better than many 90's animation on DVD, is a major plus.
As for audio, audio is presented in Stereo. Dialogue is clean and easy to understand. For those with a home theater setup, I found it more pleasing to have my receiver set to output at stereo on all channels.
Overall, each episode is restored to the original broadcast versions with a new stereo soundtrack created from the original audio.
SPECIAL FEATURES:
"THE TRANSFORMERS (More than Meets the Eye) - Season Two, Volume One" surprisingly comes with no special features. I was hoping with season two, volume one that we would see the toy commercials and other related "Transformers" special features but there are none. This release does come with a synopsis booklet but that is about it.
JUDGMENT CALL:
Growing up with "The Transformers", my brother and I were like most kids in the 80's who were literally in love with the toys, the cartoon and comic books.
But moreso, being impressed with the technology that went into having a robot transforming into a car, an airplane, a gun, a dinosaur and an insect. It may seem commonplace now but back then, it was an amazing time to have these die-cast metal/plastic robots that transform, using the television series as a basis of what robots we wanted to get (and hoped our parents would buy) and have these all out battles.
The second season of "Transformers (More than Meets the Eye)" was a season that I enjoyed for its introduction of many more Autobots and Decepticons (which translated into more toys being released at the time) and of course, more episodes with the Dinobots, Insecticons and Devastator. For the most part, the episodes are quite entertaining and had a lot of interaction between the Autobots and Decepticons with humans but with that being said, some episodes were good and some seem like filler episodes (the time travel episodes, I could have done without).
But I do feel that "Transformers" fans will love this latest release from SHOUT! FACTORY for the fact that there are so many characters that I wouldn't be surprised if fans got all nostalgic and remembered the toys they once owned or get inspired to hunt down those old school "Transformers" on eBay.
Again, there's nothing bad I can say about this release due to the mere content and low price. If I had to really nitpick, sure I can wish for cleaned up video in the hope that thousands of instances of dirt, debris and scratches were removed (which I do hope they do if they intend to release the series again via High Definition) and I wish there were special features included on this release, it would have been great to see more of the old school Transformers toys.
But seriously, for 28 episodes and for a great price, "THE TRANSFORMERS (More Than Meets the Eye) - Season Two, Volume One" is highly recommended!』 『The War Against the Decepticons Rages On in The First 28 Episodes of Season Two!

If he knew anything at all about Hunter's book it seems he would have passed this movie over, if what he wrote is really how he feels. In other words if he read even some of the book, he would have had a pretty good idea what he was in for before committing to the movie. Anyway, this movie is great and a must see if you appreciate, or just wish to look into a small part of Hunter S. Thompson's world. You must have a sense of humor and be either aware, or wanting to be aware of Hunter's book to "get it" in my opinion. It's definitely a must see. Buy it if you like dark comedy and are not afraid to see some "real" things. A sense of humor and some intelligence of the subject is required.』
(Excellent Adaptation - Not for Everyone) 『I'd read the book - not because I'm interested in drug use or Las Vegas or even Hunter Thompson as person, but because I'm interested in experimental writing and experimental it certainly was.
As stories go, this wasn't really my cup of tea, though I liked the fact/fiction, stream-of-consiousness and the blending of literary symbolism with fact-based events. To me, these were really the only redeeming qualities of the book. Naturally I wondered how a book so heavily reliant on literary devices would translate to film - I had some serious doubts....
...and they were proven to be dubious. The movie was just the same as the book, practically word for word except the actor's interpretations of the characters made them more (IMHO)likable. In the movie I was better able to understand their motivations, their fears and why things that for me fell flat in the book were hilarious on film.
The one and only thing I would have done differently would have been to add the scene where they are asking the woman at the taco stand where to find the American Dream. This part of the book had me cracking up and I was surprised to find it absent from the movie.
Final thoughts: If you get this disc be sure to check out the deleted scenes. Some important elements of the overall subtext wound up on the cutting room floor. Also, if you can only see this film as the story of two drug addled psychos and their shennanigans (and that bothers you), then skip it, but if you can bear in mind that this is really a story about the state of American cultural consciousness in the 70s then you'll probably find quite a few things to like about this film. I'd also recommend reading a little about Hunter Thompson to gain a better perspective of why he wrote it and futher appreciation for how spot-freakin-on Depp's performance is.』
(2 1/2 Stars: "We were somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the drugs began to take hold.") 『Here we have a case where a film's reputation is much bigger than the film itself. I found and bought this version of Fear and Loathing at a local yard sale at a really cheap price. I had heard a lot about this film, and was interested in finding out what all the fuss was about. After watching this film for the very first time, I'm really not sure what I can say about it. Simply put, this film is a crazy, drug induced journey to well...nowhere. Now I realize this was based on a the H.S. Thompson novel, and maybe the book explains things better and goes into greater detail, but as far as this film adaptation, I'm just not understanding why someone would be interested in making a movie like this. For me, there is no real plot..the film really doesn't go anywhere. Apart from the amazing acting performances by Johny Depp and Benicio del Toro, there's not too much to keep me interested. A large majority of the film is simply seeing these two characters take various drugs and watching what happens. And though its entertaining at first, by the end of the film, it gets very old. Maybe I'm missing something, maybe there's some deeper meaning that I'm not seeing here, but for me, this film just isn't that special. Yes, there are some good chuckles here and there (though I don't consider this a comedy), and like I said..the acting performances by Depp and del Toro save the movie from being a total disaster. I guess what I'm trying to say is there just wasn't even depth in the story to make a 2-hour movie. Like I said, overall, not a lot happens in this film. There's no real interesting storyline or plot, no climatic ending..nothing at all that would keep most audiences interested in to what's happening. If you wanna do a drug crazy movie..great, I'm all for it, but you gotta have something more than just the drugs! I just think maybe that this wasn't right novel to use to adapt a movie into. Now as far as the DVD goes, the packaging is awesome, plenty of special features, and a cool booklet to boot..so if you're a fan of the film and don't have this edition..its definitely worth getting..I have no complaints about that at all. But if you haven't seen this film yet, I strongly recommend to rent it first before you invest your money into this one.』

Robert Rodriguez's style isn't for everyone, but all the kids I know absolutely LOVE it! It just LOOKS differnt than most movies and the hero's are nice likable kids like in RR's other films (like the Spy Kids films). If your kids have outgrown the disney flicks geared to the really young ones and girls....this movie is great for boys and girls... We love it』

I watched this for the first time when I was 8 and have seen other versions both older and more recent but none of them tell the story of Alice in Wonderland like the 1985 TV movie. The entire cast is great and Natalie Gregory is the best Alice I have seen. The screenplay for this version is very philosophical, poetic and theatrical. I highly recommend it.』

Having this movie inbedded in your thoughts for all these years is what makes this movie great. If you can still remember the words to the songs and the quotes from the characters still today from a movie you watched in 1985, then who can say this movie in anything but great! Of course it is low budget from the 80's but they don't make movies like this anymore. Maybe the low budget is what challenged them to take it to the next level of imagination. My 3 year old niece watched this dvd so much that she scratched it by taking it out of the case so much to tell us she wanted to watch it. Being said, I just ordered another one for her.』

(Forget the new version!) 『I have to say that I don't particular love this film, but I will admit that it is an aboslute classic family film. Everyone in the family will always enjoy it. Now with that being said, I, like most people, have issues with this new edition of E.T.: The Extra Terrestrial. First off, the new CGI look for the alien himself is just plain silly. He looks way more unrealistic that he does in the original version. He looks too much like Jar-Jar Binks and Dobby (from Harry Potter). And then, there are the "edits" that have been made. You probably know what's wrong here: the replacing weapons with talkie-talkies, replacing the word "terrorist" with "hippie," editing out the word "[...]," etc. Why couldn't they just leave this film alone and leave it the way it is. The great original is the one that should be watched, not the new 2002 version where it is dominated by political correctness. The 2-Disc Limited Collector's Edition is no longer in stock, so you'll have to find used DVD's. Why? Because it's the only edition that has the original 1982 version. So find one here, or on Ebay, or wherever you can find it, and skip the new 2002 version.

My son's favorite character is Mickey Mouse and my daughter loves Goofy so both are pleased when I turn this on cause they both know their favorite character is coming on. I purchased several months ago and we have been watching long before Christmas and they will probably be watching long after Christmas! Definately recommend this one!!!!
