(This is a BLU-RAY REVIEW ONLY!!!! (from public domain to blu-ray WOW!, it was worth the wait(explained))!!!)
『This 1946 CLASSIC FILM copy write expired and went to the Public Domain library. For years on VHS a very poor copy was available. But the film was sooooo good we endured the poor quality for the "WONDERFUL LIFE's" message was heard loud and clear.

NOW for the FIRST time it has been brought up to the Blu-ray HD (1080p). With the HD Home Theater (BIG SCREEN) w/Dolby Digital sound I', telling you this movie is NOW THE WAY IT WAS MENT TO BE SEEN IN THE MOVIE THEATER in 1946!!! (Better then the original 35mm prints).

BONUS: This Blu-ray (2 disc set) Edition includes 2 HD versions of this MUST HAVE Movie. Disc 1. - The COLORIZED version (my favorite version, especially in HD. The color adds to the grand detail of the clarity ie. Jimmy Stewarts tweed jacket.
On the big Home Theater screen you won't believe how Wonderful the picture is!!!!
And the sound is awesome!!!!

Disc 2 - Is the Original Black&White version. A very good but much darker version which in my opinion mutes the HD details. Still this HD Classic film delivers. All extra features are also on this disc.

NOTE: This Blu-ray edition includes all the extras of the Standard DVD version.

BOTTOMLINE: THIS MOVIE IS A MUST HAVE. BELIEVE ME, YOU and YOUR FAMILY WILL BE TOTALLY DELIGHTED and Pleased to see and hear for the first time what a "WONDERFUL LIFE" this was and is!!!! ENJOY!!!』

(Blu-ray version looks great!)
『The newly-released blu ray version of the film looks wonderful - great contrasts, very clear picture, especially in the B&W version. (The disc comes with both the color and B&W versions). The picture is in its original aspect ratio 1.33:1, so it is shown in pillarbox (black bars on the sides of the display). The true videophiles will appreciate that nothing was cropped from the original image.』

(Amazon please stop listing reviews of the DVD on the BluRay page!!! If I wanted a review of the DVD I would go to that page.)

(Need a sixth star for this movie;)
『In my view there are three really great movies:
1) Wonderful Life - especially this newly re-worked version in color
(ohhhhhhh........ Donna Reed as a young girl........ what a dream !!)
(Much like the woman I married :) )
2) Gone With the Wind - Scarlette my love !
.
Life is very hard and painful for a lot of people in the US today
and because the US middle class has been gutted they have no money
to buy the things developing countries make and the crisis
is worse in those countries as a result.
.
However, there is always having faith in God as a choice (yes or no).
It's always a choice......... essentially "to be" or..... "not to be".
These are the same choice.
When we have nothing else but faith which enables the possibility of hope
then we have nothing else and nothing else.
.
It's that simple.
.

『George Bailey has so many problems he is thinking about ending it all– and it’s Christmas! As the angels discuss George, we see his life in flashback. As George is about to jump from a bridge, he ends up rescuing his guardian angel, Clarence. Clarence then shows George what his town would have looked like if it hadn’t been for all of his good deeds over the years. Will Clarence be able to convince George to return to his family and forget suicide?』
『Now perhaps the most beloved American film,It's a Wonderful Lifewas largely forgotten for years, due to a copyright quirk. Only in the late 1970s did it find its audience through repeated TV showings. Frank Capra's masterwork deserves its status as a feel-good communal event, but it is also one of the most fascinating films in the American cinema, a multilayered work of Dickensian density. George Bailey (played superbly by James Stewart) grows up in the small town of Bedford Falls, dreaming dreams of adventure and travel, but circumstances conspire to keep him enslaved to his home turf. Frustrated by his life, and haunted by an impending scandal, George prepares to commit suicide on Christmas Eve. A heavenly messenger (Henry Travers) arrives to show him a vision: what the world would have been like if George had never been born. The sequence is a vivid depiction of the American Dream gone bad, and probably the wildest thing Capra ever shot (the director's optimistic vision may have darkened during his experiences making military films in World War II). Capra's triumph is to acknowledge the difficulties and disappointments of life, while affirming--in the teary-eyed final reel--his cherished values of friendship and individual achievement. It's a Wonderful Lifewas not a big hit on its initial release, and it won no Oscars (Capra and Stewart were nominated); but it continues to weave a special magic.--Robert Horton

『I enjoyed the old PBS series... but i wish the price of "Doctor Who " was a lot cheaper to purchase, so other like me are able to reach out and purchase this wonderful dvd seriers to enjoy . but is shame I can't afford 60 dollars plus . so i guess I have to just enjoy the free trailers. and hope one day It will be price at a reasonable price.

:(』

(Love the series, but why so expensive?)
『I really love this series. It's a very fun, fast paced, and addicting show. My only complaint is that the DVDs are so expensive. I wish they would lower the cost a bit and then I'd have no problem getting them for my collection. Until then, I just watch 'em on NetFlix :-)』

(Good Family show)
『I started watching the show by myself but later on included my five year old. The show is a complete family entertaining show. It helps the children think about space and the universe. I love Billie Piper and Christopher Eccleston make a good pair.

Ecclestion is a bit rude in the beginning but you love him at the end. The show brings a little bit of everything , laughter, anger, and love.』

(Thank You)
『I gave this to a friend for her birhtday and she was very happy with it. Thank you, Jill』

(Doctor Who - The Complete First Series)
『Love this series. Have all of the first three sets now. Can't get enough. Having the episodes available at any given time is the best since cable doesn't run them enough.』
『Christopher Eccleston's Doctor is wise and funny, cheeky and brave. An alien and a loner, his detached logic gives him a vital edge when the world's in danger. But when it comes to human relationships, he can be found wanting. That's why he needs Rose. From the moment they meet, the Doctor and Rose understand and complement each other. As they travel together through time, encountering new adversaries, the Doctor shows her things beyond imagination.

DVD Features:
Audio Commentary:Dolby Digital 5.1 surround mix on all eps Almost 5 hours of ?making of? interviews and behind-the-scenes footage
Interviews
Other:Star studded team of writers including Russell T Davies (Queer As Folk), Steven Moffat (Coupling), and Mark Gatiss (The League of Gentlemen)

『The venerable science fiction programDoctor Whoreturned to British televisions in 2005 after a 15-year absence and delighted the majority of fans and critics with its adherence to the adventure and charm of the original series while making admissions for a new generation of viewers (hipper editing and score, CGI effects). Thirteen episodes were generated, all starring Christopher Eccleston as the ninth Doctor and pop-singer-turned-actress Billie Piper as his companion Rose; acclaimed writer/producer Russell T. Davies (Touching Evil,Queer as Folk) oversaw the show as chief writer and executive producer. The new series proved so popular that the BBC agreed to revive the program for second and third seasons--though without Eccleston, who has since been replaced by David Tennant. This six-disc set comes with all 13 episodes plus the battery of supplemental features now customary to all Doctor Who DVD releases.

Eccleston is very engaging in the title role, bringing a manic curiosity tempered by occasional bouts of gravity (which befit a personality with a long and dramatic a lifespan as the Doctor's) that hew closely to the (arguably) most popular Doctor, Tom Baker. Piper is equally adept as department store clerk Rose--she's afforded more of a back story than most of the Doctor's sidekicks have received in the past, and she more than handles her own alongside Eccleston. Highlights among the 13 episodes include the season opener, "Rose" (which sees the return of an old foe, the Autons, and their controlling force, the Nestene Consciousness); the revamped Daleks in "Dalek" and the two-parter "Bad Wolf" and "The Parting of the Ways"; a trip to Victorian England to aid Charles Dickens in "The Unquiet Dead," and of course, the arrival of the tenth Doctor at the conclusion of the action-packed "Parting of the Ways." The episodes strike the right blend of quirk, excitement, and imagination, thanks largely to the engaging performances and the guidance of Davies, whose admiration for the show and its history is evident throughout.

Supplemental features--and there are many--including commentary on all 13 episodes by members of the cast and crew, including Piper and Davies; numerous making-of featurettes, including a profile of Davies; a video diary by Piper; an interview with Eccleston, and best of all, a glimpse at the 60-minute Christmas special, "The Christmas Invasion," which picks up where the series concludes.Whofans won't be disappointed.--Paul Gaita

(Some drawback but a good show.)
『The show in general (all 4 seasons) is very good. The characters are diverse and the show is action-packed. Every couple episodes you'll find your self questioning who really are the good guys and more importantly who are the bad ones. The only reasons it gets 4 stars and not 5 is

A.) Plot lines start to get repetitive
and
B.) It almost seems as if directors are running out of material and trying to stretch the show along.

But even that seems a little harsh. All in all its a good show worth watching.』

(On time and in great condition)
『my product showed up on time and in great condition order was handeled with great proffesionalism, would use thier service again』

(Good, But could have had been better.)
『Heroes season 3 was good but a bit confusion, If think they had not had so many characters it could have been even better then season 3.
The i have purchased are in good condition, No problems whatsoever. I am an international customer and they delivered the item in time.』

(GREAT show)
『I actually watched this show on television and I absolutely loved it. I will buy this season on DVD just so I can have it to enjoy in the future (I already have seasons 1 and 2).

Also, I know that Zachary Quinto has a HUGE fanbase. If you really like this guy, you will really love this season.』

(Worse than season 2)
『Yes, apparently season 2 wasn't the worst of Heroes we were going to see. As we all know, the series started strong but disappointed with the season 1 finale. Then season 2 came along and didn't quite work, though it added some good actors (David Anders, Kristen Bell). And now season 3 does not only 'not quite work', it's also boring, unbelievable and just plain stupid.
The series' problem is the writing: Too often the stories are full of plot holes. Characters have abilities the writers suddenly forget about. There are revelations that just feel hollow (I really don't care anymore who whose mother or father is). And all in all, the series just goes nowhere.
The second half of the season is a bit better, but there are many more moments that just seem pointles: The wedding is the biggest joke yet, so is Sylar's quest to meet his father. One or two episodes near the end are a little bit better (the best one in my opinion is '1961', though that storyline also doesn't really matter), but I don't think the beginning of volume 5 at the end is a shape of better things to come.
During the course of the season, I was reminded of another series that also had such a dramatic decline in quality. It was called "Earth: Final Conflict". Remember that one? It started with very strong episodes and seemed like it was all thought through, and then suddenly with season 2 the writers just lost it. They had heroes with superpowers they sometimes forgot about, they wrote episodes contradicting each other, well... it's the 90s "Heroes".
And just as I didn't continue watching "Earth", I will stop watching "Heroes" starting with season 4. I just can't stand this show anymore.』

『Experience all the explosive action and shocking twists as Heroes: Season 3 comes to DVD! Rediscover the phenomenon in this six-disc set that includes all 25 suspenseful episodes from the third season’s volumes, Villains and Fugitives. Plus, go behind the scenes with the show’s writers, stars and artists as you explore hours of exclusive and revealing bonus features.』

(Outstanding Quality and content, the movie was silly though...)
『I am an avid comic book fan and I make no excuses for the lack of cohesive storytelling. However the fight scenes and special effects were excellent. The acting wasnt oscar calibre but it fit into the action genre the way it needed to.Wolverine was tortured by his past, Sabretooth was ruthless and menacing and Silverfox was the one who did it all for love. The others did a bang up job too. Everyone from Agent Zero to Deadpool played their parts to perfection. Bravo. The content was awesome. The character profile that actually had the character talking as thier characters, nice touch. The deleted scenes needed to be just that. The interview of Lien Wein and Stan Lee was great. It's a nice touch to see the creator of Wolvering get his just desserts. All in all great product fora great low price. Thanks Amazon.』

(Amazing)
『I am a BIG fan of Blu-ray. This is a great movie on Blu-ray. A must.』

(A bittersweet aftertaste)
『For some reason, this movie was butchered by critics and, to be honest, it's full of ups and downs that leave audiences with a bittersweet aftertaste. There are incredible scenes that prove almost impossible to be shot, like that of the helicopter, but then, for some reason, high definition shows how poorly finished Wolverine's claws are in that bathroom scene.
I don't think the story is worse than X-men III's, but it's almost impossible not to miss the underlying ideas of the Singer era. There is a second part coming. Hugh Jackman is an excellent actor. Let's hope the second part is a bit more interesting than this one!』

(ok but not great-rent it)
『OK, it was kind of dumb, and the writers should definitely be crucified until they can answer, and promise to rectify, all the story logic questions posed by other reviewers. But hey, the actors give it a game try, and it does have moments of geekness which partially counterbalance some of the flat-out X-men universe errors. Silverfox and Emma Frost sisters? Deadpool turned into a Weapon 11 and then being offed? How did Sabertooth become the slow galoot shown in X-1 and why do Wolverine's super-senses only work at the scripters' convenience? The Watchmen is the best example of a comic book adaption that didn't get too Hollywoodized. Hopefully someday we'll get an X-Men movie that doesn't prettify the characters beyond recognition to match available movie stars, rewrite the stories to suit the idiotic whims of so-called screenwriters and their puppeteers, and resist the temptation to abandon the human (or mutant) element and just have everything blow up all over the place in the end...』

(this is where Wolverine got his start)
『I really enjoyed this movie. it was a bit odd to see Professor Xavier walking. I thought he would have been in a wheelchair in this movie. it was a bit odd to see Cyclops going to school as a teen and Gambit on here as well. this movie has tons of action. Hugh Jackman reprises his role as Wolverine, who was a Weapon X. it is hard to imagine, through all the X-Men cartoons I watched in my 20's, that Wolverine and Sabretooth grew up as half-brothers. there were some funny parts in this movie, such as Fred "Blob" Dukes boxing with Wolverine, however, eventually, it is the Blob that gets knocked down. I am really surprised that Magneto and Mystique were not in this movie. I recommend this movie to X-Men fans.』
『Studio: Tcfhe Release Date: 09/15/2009 Rating: Pg13』
『Wolverine, fan favorite of theX-Menuniverse in both comic books and film, gets his own movie vehicle withX-Men Origins: Wolverine, a tale that reaches way, way back into the hairy mutant's story. Somewhere in the wilds of northwest Canada in the early 1800s, two boys grow up amid violence: half-brothers with very special powers. Eventually they will become the near-indestructible warriors (and victims of a super-secret government program) known as Wolverine and Sabretooth, played respectively by Hugh Jackman (returning to his role) and Liev Schreiber (new to the scene). It helps enormously to have Schreiber, an actor of brawny skills, as the showiest villain; the guy can put genuine menace into a vocal inflection or a shift of the eyes. Danny Huston is the sinister government operative whose experiments keep pullin' Wolverine back in, Lynn Collins is the woman who shares a peaceful Canadian co-existence with our hero when he tries to drop out of the program, and Ryan Reynolds adds needed humor, at least for a while. The fast-paced early reels give an entertaining kick-off to the Wolverine saga, only to slow down when a proper plot must be put together--but isn't that perpetually the problem with origin stories? And despite a cool setting, the grand finale is a little hemmed in by certain plot essentials that must be in place for the sequels, which may be why characters do nonsensical things. So, this one is fun while it lasts, if you're not looking for a masterpiece, or an explanation for Wolverine's facial grooming.--Robert Horton

(Charming!)
『I remember watching this movie as a young lad. As all of Disney's early films, it "enchanted" me. I purchased this film and watched it again just recently and happily found it just as good if not better then I remembered it as a child. This story has very strong moral values about being honest and telling the truth and the consequences we will face if we choose to do whats wrong. With beautiful animation from the "golden days" of Disney, this classic tale will charm and warm your heart for year's to come!』

(BD-live features mostly worthless)
『I explored the BD-live feature for the first time last night, and most of the functions require registration on Disney's site. On Disney's site an FAQ asserts that those features are being discontinued, and account creation is no longer possible. WTH? This disc was only released 8 months ago, and the much-heralded BD-Live features that personalize your disc and experience are already outdated.

For what it's worth, I just bought UP (released last week), and the BD-Live features from Disney appear to be nothing but downloading trailers for other films ... four of them. My verdict on Disney BD-Live =>total waste of time.』

(Pinocchio)
『A brilliant film for the time it was made. A milestone film for its time.』

(Best bonus material !)
『Although this film is a classic and one of my favorites, I particularly loved the bonus material included in this package. The "deleted scenes" the "alternate ending" and other material make this a well-worth purchase for any film buff or persons interested in Disney and animation. It's one of the best from that golden age of classics and still holds up against the newer computer generated disappointments out there these days.』

(Pinocchio 70th Anniversary DVD)

It has been over 20 years since I saw this movie in a theater and I was anxious to see how the visuals and storyline on DVD compared to my memories of it back then. It did not disappoint.

The rich colors and clarity of the movie are impressive. By having the opportunity to watch the movie on a DVD media, I was able to better appreciate the detail and effort contributed by the artists in the creation of the movie.

The added feature "Making of Pinocchio" gives a look at some of the people who helped contribute to the artwork, character voices, and musical scores.

Despite the computer driven technical advancements made in animation features, Pinocchio still retains its high position of excellence.

『Celebrate the 70th anniversary of Walt Disney'sPinocchio! The legendary masterpiece that inspired millions to believe in their dreams has reawakened with an all-new, state-of-the-art digital restoration that shines brilliantly on 2-disc DVD. Now, for the first time ever, the richly detailed animation, unforgettable award-winning music When You Wish Upon A Star and heartwarming adventure-filled story comes to life like never before. Plus, all-new dazzling bonus features transport you into Pinocchio's fantastic world! Join Geppetto's beloved puppet with Jiminy Cricket as his guide on a thrilling quest that tests Pinocchio's bravery, loyalty and honesty, virtues he must learn to become a real boy. The one and onlyPinocchiowill live on forever in the heart of anyone who has wished upon a star.

Bonus Features include the Pinocchio Knows Trivia Challenge, an all-new Making Of Pinocchio, the Sweat Box, Walt Disney's Artistic Review Process, Disney View, Expand Your Viewing Experience Beyond The Original Aspect Ratio Of The Film, Cine-Explore, Disney BD-Live: Connect, Explore And Interact, all-new When You Wish Upon A Star; Music Video Performed By Meaghan Jette Martin, Pinocchio's Puzzles Game, 18 Puzzles In A Multi-Tiered Game, Pinocchio's Matter Of Facts Discover More About Pinocchio's World With Pop-Up Trivia, Never-Before-Seen Deleted Scenes, Alternate Ending
DAVE KEHR, NEW YORK TIMES
“The new “Pinocchio” looks magnificent, with a richness of color and a tight definition that evoke the theatrical experience.”

CHRIS NASHAWATY, ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY
“You won't find a sweeter story or a tidier morality tale about the virtues of being ''brave, truthful, and unselfish.'' Grown-ups will eat up the commentaries and featurettes about Disney's band of merry-prankster animators, and kids can spend hours with the disc's interactive puzzles and Pop-UpVideo-style factoids. You really couldn't ask for more.”

KENNETH BROWN, BLU-RAY.COM
“Simply put, the 3-disc Blu-ray edition of Pinocchio should already have a comfortable home on every true filmfan's shelves. Buy it without any further delay.”

HARRY KNOWLES, AINTITCOOL.COM
“An absolute must for animation lovers!”』

This Disney masterpiece from 1940 will hold up forever precisely because it doesn't restrain or temper the most elementalemotions and themes germane to its story. Based on the Collodi tale about a wooden puppet who wants to become a real boy,Pinocchiois among the most magical, mythical, and frightening films to come from the studio in its long history. A number of scenes make permanent impressions on young minds (just ask Steven Spielberg, who quoted the film more than once inClose Encounters of the Third Kind), and the songs ("When You Wish upon a Star") can't be beat.--Tom Keogh

(Favourite movie, favourite blu-ray)
『Seen this countless times and in 70mm, this film is why I bought a blu-ray player and is pretty much the only one that I watch repeatedly. Best picture quality and sound out of all the releases, including the DVD limited box set with the film strip. It looks so much better here, as it clearly should. High Recommendations for this one, and Keir Dullea is prime cool here』

(Once you get past the first 30 minutes or so...)
『That first half-hour is very long and very boring, but having said that, it is an essential part of the storyline, with the proto-humans discovering the Monolith and not understanding what it stands for.

Once you get past that, it is a well-paced film, with special effects that are nothing short of incredible for the time that the movie was made. The effects look even better on the blu-ray version!

You can't go wrong with this sci-fi classic...』

(2001 Blu-ray: reawakens the awe and majesty)
『In my opinion, the best motion picture ever made. The epic sweep of the story, the framing of images, the poetry of motion, the long moments of silence, the vastness of the heavens, the beautifully posed and unanswered questions...all captured in original glory. Some of the behind-the-scenes extras spoil my suspension of disbelief, but still enjoyable. This is the reason I bought my LG 55LH90 HDTV.』

(unbiased first time watcher)
『This movie is incredibly boring, content-less and primitive. I bought blu ray edition based on 990+ mostly positive reviews on Amazon. Now I am puzzled - how could this movie ever get 5 stars? The only explanation I have it was kind of cool in 1969 and people who watched it back then are nostalgic. Nowadays I do not find it's cool to watch black screen for 5 minutes wondering if my disk/player/projector are OK. That is right - movie has black scenes with nothing for minutes (kudos to "Black Square" Malevich?), accompanied by a most terrible psychedelic music (?) ever. I really had to mute and fast forward it quite a bit. On the other hand movie is somewhat OK if you want to fall asleep, which I did twice (here comes one star from me). Few bright moments of light/action/dialog in the universe of boredom barely occupy a few minutes of footage continued by hours of rotating still images and annoying Windows Media Player type of visual kaleidoscope. You would see all kind of nonsense: Pan-Am waitresses doing a lot of baby steps in circles; pen flying for minutes; annoying "monkeys" jumping and crying for half an hour; repetitive scenes of "space ships" flying up close (one hour?); somebody breathing heavily for 10 minutes into microphone, twice; eating miserable colored humus-like space food for 5 minutes; etc. Sparse dialogs are not nearly as deep as some suggested and reminded me naive baby talks: "[Mummy], please, I will never do it again, I promise", "Hal, do you hear me? Please answer me, please.. (repeated 5-10 times)", "I can not talk about it right now", ... I guess if this extreeeeeeemely long chewing gum is compressed into 10 minutes cartoon for kids if would become average. Otherwise, total waste of my money-time continuum.

(2001 - A Classic)
『'THE' original Sci-Fi Flick.
2001 has been used as a template for almost all future movies such as Star Wars, Star Trek, Alien etc...etc..
1960's Special effects are better than many current movies.
HAL is the real star.
Only drag is the hallucinogenic scene - it is too long.』

『A space mission that could reveal man?s destiny is jeopardized by a malfunctioning shipboard computer. A dazzling journey that tops them all ? and showed the way for other effects-packed films that followed.』
『When Stanley Kubrick recruited Arthur C. Clarke to collaborate on "the proverbial intelligent science fiction film," it's a safe bet neither the maverick auteur nor the great science fiction writer knew they would virtually redefine the parameters of the cinema experience. A daring experiment in unconventional narrative inspired by Clarke's short story "The Sentinel,"2001is a visual tone poem (barely 40 minutes of dialogue in a 139-minute film) that charts a phenomenal history of human evolution. From the dawn-of-man discovery of crude but deadly tools in the film's opening sequence to the journey of the spaceshipDiscoveryand metaphysical birth of the "star child" at film's end, Kubrick's vision is meticulous and precise. In keeping with the director's underlying theme of dehumanization by technology, the notorious, seemingly omniscient computer HAL 9000 has more warmth and personality than the human astronauts it supposedly is serving. (The director also leaves the meaning of the black, rectangular alien monoliths open for discussion.) This theme, in part, is what makes2001a film like no other, though dated now that its postmillennial space exploration has proven optimistic compared to reality. Still, the film is timelessly provocative in its pioneering exploration of inner- and outer-space consciousness. With spectacular, painstakingly authentic special effects that have stood the test of time, Kubrick's film is nothing less than a cinematic milestone--puzzling, provocative, and perfect.--Jeff Shannon

its a classic.. most people i know quote it around xmas time..

great acting, great plot, funnnnnny, and great value at what amazon has it priced at now.

if u have even rented it one time - and and were gonna rent it again - just buy it.
$4 a rental at blockbuster, or an average $3 per movie with netflix - at $8.50 at amazon, youll save money after the 2nd time u watch it!』

(Elf)
『I guess with this kind of movie, you have to get into a cheerful state of mind before watching it, since it in all fairness is so embarrassing to watch at times you want to sink through the chair. The premise is easily enough explained, a human orphan baby; "Buddy", (probably not his real name originally, but you'll see why) crawls into Santa Claus' sack and returns to the North Pole with him. He is there adopted by an elderly elf in Santa's employ, and raised as an elf, among other elves. Naturally, since he grows up to be gigantic compared to his cohabitates, he in the end resolves (as so many adopted children) to find his true identity and his real father in the human world. He travels south, to New York City, where his father is a bitter workaholic publisher, not foreign to shortcuts in the world of business and neglectful of his wife and adolescent son. Buddy in full elf costume, seeks out his father (who doesn't know of his existence) and looks for his recognition and love. The twist is, that Buddy really believes he is an elf and is steeped in "elf culture" (sugar is the basis of all meals, making toys and Christmas is what life is all about and generally to be of good cheer no matter how life treats you, etc). This to say the least collides with the post-European society New York City has become, leading to hilarious situations. Ferrell does a wonderful enthusiastic elf that had me on the way to the floor at times with laughter. James Caan (the Jewish tough-guy in so many films) fills his role perfectly, as does the charming Zooey Deschanel. One could have wished for a better child actor than Buddy's half-brother, but that is the only minus I can find in the film. It is of course also quite sad to see how post-European the US is becoming, a city that was supposed to be the new York, has little that reminds one of that today and less every year.

Little more need to be said, it is a wonderful film for all the family about Christmas, the little that is left of it in this ironically most Jewish city in the world; New York City. The film itself has a very "Jewish feel" to it, but not really in any bad way, it is respectful of Christian celebration and treats it mostly nice, although it of course is a very childish portrait. 5 stars and really one of the few "family films" that can be enjoyed by the whole family, if one is able to just laugh for 1,5 hours in these troubled times.』

(Quick and easy)
『This transaction was fast and easy. The DVD was shipped promptly and arrived in perfect using condition. And obviously, the movie is hilarious and clean.』

(Wonderful Movie)
『If you have seen Elf and are considering purchasing it on Blu-Ray you likely feel the same as I do. Blu-Ray of Elf is very clear and great sound. Will Ferrel is wonderful and this movie gets better each Christmas.』
『This hilarious Christmas film tells the tale of a young orphan child who mistakenly crawls into Santa's bag of gifts on Christmas Eve and is transported back to the North Pole and raised as an elf. Years later Buddy learns he is not really an elf and goes on a journey to New York City to find his true identity.

DVD Features:
Audio Commentary:2 commentaries with Will Ferrell&Director

Other:2-Disc Infinifilm DVD Widescreen version on Disc 1 and Fullscreen version on Disc 2 Spanish Language Track Elf Karaoke Read-Along Infinifilm Fact Tack Buddy's Adventure Game Elf Decoder Card and more!

Elfis genuinely good. Not justSaturday Night Live-movie good, when the movie has some funny bits but is basically an insult to humanity;Elfis a smartly written, skillfully directed, and deftly acted story of a human being adopted by Christmas elves who returns to the human world to find his father. And because the writing, directing, and acting are all genuinely good,Elfis also genuinely funny. Will Ferrell, as Buddy the adopted elf, is hysterically sincere. James Caan, as his rediscovered father, executes his surly dumbfoundedness with perfect aplomb. Zooey Deschanel, as a department store worker with whom Buddy falls in love, is adorably sardonic. Director Jon Favreau (Swingers) shepherds the movie through all the obligatory Christmas cliches and focuses on material that's sometimes subtle and consistently surprising. Frankly,Elffeels miraculous. Also featuring Mary Steenburgen, Bob Newhart, Peter Dinklage, and Ed Asner as Santa Claus.--Bret Fetzer

(Not as bad as expected, but...)
『one reviewer already nailed it, but i'll repeat it: the first 10 or so minutes of "The Terminator" blu-ray disc look awful; PQ identical to, if not lower than, what one would expect from an upcoverting standard-def DVD player. That said, the PQ does improve as the movie goes on, but generally any scene shot in darkness looks horrid.』

(Awesome film, lousy blu-ray)
『I should have known that when a blu-ray disc was selling for under $10 that something was wrong. Sure enough, the picture quality is pretty much the same as a regular DVD. The fact that it's selling for such a low price probably means that somebody is wising up and will soon issue a better quality blu-ray version. My advice is to pass up on this offer and instead wait for the definitive treatment.』

(Terminator: Modernized vs. Nostalgic)
『THE MOVIE: 5/5
Terminator (or The Terminator, if you prefer) is and always will be an excellent movie. It expertly combines the two genres of science fiction and action. This movie was in my opinion James Cameron's break-through movie. After this, he made classic movies such as Aliens, The Abyss, Terminator 2, and of course, Titanic. Terminator truly is a modern classic. It's one of those relatively low budget movies that made it big. You don't need to take my word of it: other reviewers have given it 5 out of 5 stars.

THE DVD RELEASE VS THE BLU-RAY RELEASE
The first DVD release of Terminator was released in the late 1990s. Even though it was widescreen, unfortunately it was non-anamorphic, which can look terrible on a modern widescreen TV (as it only fills the center of the screen and leaves 4 black bars). The audio was the original mono soundtrack, with all its nostalgic 1980s sounding music and dialogue that sounds... somewhat low quality (which was commonplace for a sci-fi B-movie) It's definitely a nostalgic experience in sound.

Recently, I acquired the Blu-Ray of the Terminator. The picture quality was amazing compared to the first DVD. It was anamorphic widescreen and looks nice on a widescreen TV; however, it still isn't quite up to normal HD standards since it was shot on low-quality film. Still, it was a great video improvement. When I first watched it, the audio bugged me, and I didn't quite know why. It turned out that the Blu-Ray had used the 5.1 remix of the sound. It added new sound effects and made the dialogue sound normal. The audio sounded modern, completely different from the nostalgic B-movie sound. Now, call me funny, but I didn't like it. I missed the old, mono quality audio with the cheesy 1980s sound effects that had been replaced with regular, sounding audio and improved sound effects. In my opinion, it took away the warm B-movie feeling that the first DVD had. To top it all off, I found that the Blu-Ray didn't include the original mono soundtrack.

The average viewer might like the Blu-Ray as it looks modern and sounds technically better. Others, like me, might love that warm, 1980s nostalgic experience of the DVD. The choice is yours.』

(Blu ray version needs to be remastered)
『This is a great movie, however blu ray shows a lower then expected resolution and it feels - especially in the opening scene like the studio did not try and remaster the negatives so you see all these old artifacts showing up on the film. Until its remastered for blu ray and cleaned up so its presentable in this format just stick with the DVD version.』

(The movie that started it all)
『Terminator is one of the greatest movies ever made and is among the top favorites for almost anyone I know. This is the film that really made James Cameron and Arnold, stars in their field.
An excellent story, with perfect theme music, made this an instant classic, one you can watch over and over again. A thrilling, sci-fi, action horror classic, with a bit of a love story mixed in. The only negative critique I've ever had about the film is the scene where Arnold removes the eye, and his face clearly looks like a mask.
The deleted scenes on the disk are fun to watch but they are not re-edited into the film as they did in Aliens. I wish they had done that or given you the option too, because I really enjoyed it that way. Most of the scenes were taken out for timing or pacing and otherwise could have been left in. I particularly thought the Cyberdyne ending could have been left in. I find it really enjoyable to watch deleted scenes on older favorites like this.』

『In the year 2029, the ruling super-computer, Skynet, sends an indestructible cyborg (Arnold Schwarzenegger) back in time to 1984 to kill Sarah Connor (Linda Hamilton) before she can fulfill her destiny and save mankind.』
『This is the film that cemented Schwarzenegger's spot in the action-brawn firmament, and it was well deserved. He's chilling as the futuristic cyborg who kills without fear, without love, without mercy. James Cameron's story and direction are pared to the bone and all the more creepy. But don't overlook the contributions of Linda Hamilton, who more than holds her own as the Terminator's would-be victim, Sarah Connor--thus creating, along with Sigourney Weaver inAlien, a new generation of rugged, clear-thinking female action stars. It's surprising how well this film holds up, and how its minimalist, malevolent violence is actually way scarier than that of its far more expensive, more effects-laden sequel.--Anne Hurley

(This was horrible)
『All this movie is is one of those filler episodes where the whole season was recapped. The recap is given through the eyes of a cylon which gave a somewhat unique take on things, but if this was a regular episode on tv I would have turned it off. This was so boring and had unnecessary nudity (male too). An utter waste of money and I agree with another reviewer that this was just released to milk fans of money.』

(Frakkin' Awesome View from the Cylon Perspective!!!)
『I really enjoyed The Plan. It helped me fill with a new BSG fix and was great to see an in depth view into the backstory of all twelve Cylons. I especially loved the more in depth development of the different personality types within the 7 Cylon models. The polar opposite personalities between Cavil and John really helped frame how the Cylons headed down the path of destruction they did. I also enjoyed learning more about Simon and seeing that he was another Cylon who loved a human so deeply. I hope the team who brought us The Plan do more of these with the same quality and storyline I love in the BSG series.』

(A disappointing pleasure)
『I don't know how else to describe my reaction to this DVD.

I enjoyed watching it, recapturing that same sense of anticipation that I recalled from the early seasons of BSG - enjoying the character moments while trying to figure out, deduce what exactly was the Cylon plan that we were teased with in the show's opening every week.

But at the end of the DVD, I experienced the same let down as the series finale... That was it? I was dragged thru an emotional roller-coaster again only to be told the ride is over at the top of the track.

This DVD encompasses all that was good and bad about BSG.

The characters and the character moments sparkle. The dialogue and the acting is first-rate and evoked my fond memories of the series. The problem is, like the series, that's all this really is... a series of character moments (and most pulled from the old episodes). There is no real story here. Like the series, you get to the end and want to say "Is that it?". Yeah, I know the BSG creators lamely used the excuse that the show was always meant to just be about the characters, but c'mon, that is just a poor excuse for lazy, lazy writing. I had hoped and half-way expected this DVD was the show's runners' way of after-the-fact filling in the plot holes for the series, but instead it's just another opportunity squandered.

Nevertheless, you will probably want to buy this DVD if you were more than a casual fan of the show. Understand that it is in essence a "clip-show" interspersed with a good number of fresh scenes that enhance and expand on the older fare but really add nothing much to any kind of story arc.

Bottom-line: Good, but could have been so much more...』

(Not THAT bad - must understand the context.)
『The Plan goes back to the very beginning of the (mini) series, and explores the circumstances with the human-like Cylons preparing and executing the massive attack on the Twelve colonies, and then continuing with the "mopping up" afterwards in the Rag-tag Fleet and with the Survivors on Caprica. It is almost all done from the perspective of the 12 or so Cylons, as they carry out their duties and discuss their assignments. It carries the "feel" of about 2 hours of "Deleted Scenes", in mostly chronological order. Most of the scenes are very short, but reveal crucial details on who knew and did what and when, and the scenes are full of what would be "spoilers" if they were included in the original series release. One would need to be very well-studied as a BSG aficionado in the entire series to really catch all the subtle points.

Incidentally, there are also some "real" Deleted Scenes at the end, without the "VFX" Video (CGI) Effects, but which do seem to fill in some odd "holes" in the running dialog. The parallel story lines as presented do flip back and forth between settings, and make references to "known" timeline events on Galactica, and on post-apocalypse Caprica, and elsewhere. A Time Stamp (xx days after the attack on the colonies) frequently provides points of reference at the beginning of some scenes. And there are a number of previously unexplored relationships presented between and among the various Cylon models.

Notably absent is the President, D'Anna, and any reference to Razor or Pegasus. One of the surprises is that the Cylons, including the Final Five, always seem to recognize each other in some way in passing, even if they are not always sure why. One disappointment is no added clarifications of Starbuck's status.

Some have argued that The Plan is a simple money-grab, using stock footage (etc.) to trick BSG fans into thinking it is a new "episode" or something. It should rather be thought of and treated as crucial scenes and spoiler segments that were withheld, but are a significant part of the Canon. I would argue that, when taken in context with the rest of the material, it fills in some otherwise unexpected and unexplained gaps in the main BSG storyline. It starts to clarify how the Humans and Cylons started to adapt and come to terms with their respective circumstances. Interestingly it only seemed to cover about the first 2 or so "regular" seasons; one wonders if there is to be a second Plan - Part 2 - that covers Seasons 3 and 4...』

(The Plan: Milk fans for cash)
『A risible addition to the Battlestar Galactica series. Advertised as the story from the Cylon perspective it is essentially a two hour clip show with some extra footage added to try and weave the Cylon story. The pacing is incomprehensible unless you have watched the entire show, and I guess you have, with scenes lurching from one to another without any seeming logic. Shame on the BSG guys for letting this be released. Avoid.』
『The Cylons began as humanity's robot servants. They rebelled and evolved and now they look like us. Their plan is simple: destroy the race that enslaved them. But when their devastating attack leaves human survivors, the Cylons have to improvise. Battlestar Galactica: The Plan tells the story of two powerful Cylon leaders, working separately, and their determination to finish the task.』

(Blu(ray) Christmas)
『I love this movie, so does my daughter and now my grandkids. Now on Blu-Ray, it is astonishing!』

(The Best Halloween Film of its Generation)
『I don't think any other movie has come around in the last decade that has impacted our culture like this, especially during Halloween. This film is always a pleasure to watch during the holiday season, the music, songs and animation are just remarkable. I love the characters and all the creepy humerous things that they do.

If you truly want to blow your kids minds with a Halloween movie I always suggest this one, it will leave them wanting more and next thing you know you'll know you're adding it to your DVD collection.』

(Nightmare Before Christmas Blue Ray)
『This movie is not just a cult film but has become a Halloween and Christmas animation classic.
The music soundtrack should be on Broadway; and the stop motion animation is awesome.
Once again Tim Burton tackles one of his favorite subjects as only he can, the magic of Christmas...but this time, it's viewed from a darker fringe. Of course, It looks incredible in Blue Ray; thank you for your creativity and talent Tim Burton!』

(Worth It)
『My husband recieved a gift card for Amazon.com. Neither one of us had ever purchased anything from Amazon before. I found this dvd collection and thought it would be a good fit. It arrived 3 days after I ordered it and I had no problems with the website or the purchase.』

(One of the all-time best Disney movies.)
『The combination of Tim Burton's vision and direction, Danny Elfman's score and the outstanding stop-motion animation plus the enchanting and original story make this one of Disney's all-time best animated stories. It has been my favorite since it was released, but I introduced my 2 and 4 year old grandchildren to the video when I purchased this copy. They are totally mesmerized by the story and the music. The more they see it, the more delighted they become with the characters and their personalities. They've started to be curious about the way the animation is done, as well. As a bonus, it's an all-purpose holiday film which lasts the entire season from Halloween through Christmas!』
『Now digitally restored and remastered with state-of-the-art technology, THE NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS is deeper, darker and more brilliant than ever just as Tim Burton originally envisioned it on Blu-ray Disc Bored with the same old scare-and-scream routine, Pumpkin King Jack Skellington longs to spread the joy of Christmas. But his merry mission puts Santa in jeopardy and creates a nightmare for good little boys and girls everywhere! Hear the genius of Danny Elfman's sensational music in 7.1 Surround Sound as the fantastic talents and imaginations of Tim Burton and Henry Selick come to life in stunning Hi-Def. THE NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS now even more eerie and extraordinary on Blu-ray High Definition!
Bonus Features
THE NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS is the first full-length stop-motion animated film ever created.
The movie contains more than 227 animated characters.
Santa Claus' head has more than 50 different working parts, and Jack has more than 400 separate interchangeable heads, each handcrafted with a different facial expression.
The smallest working puppet in the movie is a doll from the "real world" Jack visits that is only one inch long.
Sally is wearing a real miniature dress laid on top of foam latex so that the fabric doesn't move too much on screen.
At the height of production, the animators produced only 70 seconds of finished film per week.
To create Halloweentown's twisted look, the design artists often made their sketches using their nondrawing hand.

『For those who never thought Disney would release a film in which Santa Claus is kidnapped and tortured, well, here it is! The full title isTim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas, which should give you an idea of the tone of this stop-action animated musical/fantasy/horror/comedy. It is based on characters created by Burton, the former Disney animator best known as the director ofPee-wee's Big Adventure,Beetlejuice,Edward Scissorhands, and the first twoBatmanmovies. His benignly scary-funny sensibility dominates the story of Halloweentown resident Jack Skellington (voice by Danny Elfman, who also wrote the songs), who stumbles on a bizarre and fascinating alternative universe called ... Christmastown! Directed by Henry Selick (who later made the delightfulJames and the Giant Peach), this PG-rated picture has a reassuringly light touch. As Roger Ebert noted in his review, "some of the Halloween creatures might be a tad scary for smaller children, but this is the kind of movie older kids will eat up; it has the kind of offbeat, subversive energy that tells them wonderful things are likely to happen."--Jim Emerson
