Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (I love this series, I only wish they continued it.) 『Let me just start off by saying, they should continue this series.
I'm not a hardcore anime fan but I really enjoyed this series and it was a blast to watch. It was very light hearted at first bringing you into the universe of Trigun and then things go very serious with some really great philosiphies and outlooks as individuals, and as the human race as a whole. One of my favorite lines from the series I think was originaly said by Rem, but Vash used it as well; "The ticket to the future is always open."
The animation, voice acting, or music always seemed to be on par. It never seemed to take away from the experience and the soundtrack to this series was great in my opinion, I could only remeber one time the voice acting seemed a little sketchy.
All in all this series really brought me in and made me feel Vash's emotions. The experience as a whole was excellent. I even took away some different ways of thinking about problems and decsions we all make. If you spend any time with the series you will learn to always look for a better option to your problems, no matter how unlikely, and Vash's selfless acts were very moving making one of my first anime series a excellent experience. Five stars.

(A Classic . . .) 『A great series, despite starting a bit slow and having a sketchy ending. Definitely worth the coin.』
(Trigun - Limited Collector's Edition I (With Steel Case) (2003) WARNING!) 『This is episodes 1 through 14 ONLY!!! If you want the other half, you have to buy Trigun - Limited Collector's Edition II (With Steel Case) (2003) which be an aditional $500 (I assume edition II is 15 through 26 I cannot confirm anything!) I am very angry that episodes were not listed by Amazon.com before I purchased it. In their defense, it was a 3rd party that was selling it through Amazon.com.』
(Not as good as the books) 『I used to love the Trigun anime series until I read Maximum manga. The differnce between the two are staggering. The Gung Ho Guns in Manga (some of them) were much more powerful than the one's in the series. Not to mention all of them weren't included. The series also makes Vash look like a wimp in the series. Compared to the mangas at least.
Granted, if seen seperately they are both good and books always have room for more story. But if I were to recommend one it'd be the manga series wins hands down.』
(big bang for your buck) 『if you are looking for a space saver then get the tin. this one comes with each seperate dvd cases so it takes up a lot of space but the graphics are good and we all know the story is great!』 『The wild gun-crazy action of Trigun gets collected in a new eight-volume DVD boxed set featuring 26 episodes of brand-new art from Takahiro Yoshimatsu, the character designer of Trigun.』 『Who and what is Vash the Stampede, a.k.a. "The Humanoid Typhoon"? To bounty hunters, he's an outlaw with 60,000,000,000 Double Dollars on his head. To Meryl Stryfe and Millie Thompson of the Bernardelli Insurance Society, he's a walking disaster area who's cost the company a fortune. Tootaku, he's one of the most popular characters in anime. Based on Yasuhiro Nightow'smanga, this comic adventure takes place in the distant future on a desert planet that looks like the American Old West. Vash wanders from town to town, unsuccessfully pursuing peace, doughnuts, and "the mayfly known as love." Meryl and Millie follow him, trying to minimize the destruction, but Vash's only real friend is the gun-totin' preacher Nicholas Wolfwood. Despite their grudging affection, Wolfwood articulates the other characters' thoughts when he tells Vash, "When you're around, things always seem to get worse!"
Anime heroes tend to be either cold-blooded warriors who kill for honor (theGundam Wingpilots) or unlikely nerds who grow into the role of warrior when it's thrust upon them (Shinji Ikari inEvangelion). Sometimes comic and kooky, sometimes gentle and earnest, Vash reveres life and agonizes over the bloodshed he inadvertently causes. He'd rather eat than demonstrate his amazing marksmanship: he doesn't fire a shot until the fifth episode, although one of his arms is actually a gun. Voice actor Johnny Yong Bosh articulates both Vash's suffering and adolescent exuberance whenever he sees a pretty girl with exceptional panache. The runaway popularity ofTrigunseems to have surprised the filmmakers. Although no plans have been announced for additional animation, a newmangaseries has appeared,Trigun Maximum. It seems unlikely that the artists would prematurely end the adventures of a figure with so much potential--and so many fans.--Charles Solomon』
Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (bebop) 『it has all the individual sessions in series back to back. you need to change the defaults to view it in english with no subtitles, but that is easy to do. i really enjoyed it, i also enjoyed the movie.』
(Greatest anime serie) 『A mix of old-school thriller and action movies all blended with humor and bittersweet look into the past , making this anime a good-for-all show. Simply Ama-zing』
(The best anime series for adults i've ever seen.) 『I've watched alot of anime, and I would have to say this is one that is transcendental. I would compare it to the Sandman series in comics, the Dark Tower series in sci fi novella, to the original Star Wars in terms of originality and epicness. It's not the typical cheese anime for teenagers, or anime that's strictly about robots and fighting, it's adult anime with mature themes. I highly recommend it.』
(Awesome!) 『I purchased the original, non-bootleg, limited edition copy. It came with all 6 dvds in their original case and the original soundtrack. It was used, since this is out of print, and the edges were a little worn, but well, well worth the cost of purchse! If you want original, good quality product, this is the only way to go!』
(BAD REVIEWS) 『I'd like to address the people who gave this item a bad review due to poor quality. I'm guessing you made your purchase through an Amazon merchant rather than directly through Amazon since this item has been out of print for some time. It's likely that the item you received is a region 0 bootleg. It's pretty easy to check for this: 1-If the dvd count is lower than what is listed on the product page. 2-Chinese characters on the packaging. Chinese subtitles on the episodes are also a good indicator. 3-Doesnt have the publisher's logo on the box (in this case "Bandai"). 4-When you insert the disc it goes straight to the menu or starts playing without showing the usual copyright, production and distributor information/titles. When dealing with private sellers through Amazon always be sure to ask if the item is a Region 1, official release. Asking for a picture of the exact item they are selling is also an extremely good idea. Anyhow, I suppose I should review the product since this is a product review. Cowboy bebop is awesome. Buy it.』 『Meet Spike and Jet, a drifter and a retired cyborg cop. They've formed a partnership in a bounty hunting enterprise that specializes in adventure and cash. Using an old converted fishing ship called the Bebop, with the help of the intelligent data dog, Ein, the mysterious and vexing femme fatale, Faye Valentine, and Ed, the genius hacker -- Spike and Jet scour the galaxy to clean up space, one bounty at a time.
* Considered one of the best anime of all time in both Japan AND the United States. * Cowboy Bebop is now available as a special DVD collection box set that contains all six DVD's from Cowboy Bebop packaged with the Cowboy Bebop Original Soundtrack CD in a collectors box.』
『Each of the snazzy 25-minute installments from the most popular Japanese animated TV series of 1998 is a satisfying adventure tale about a futuristic hipster bounty hunter. This is an elegant action-comedy anime, with smoothly integrated CGI space-flight elements, gorgeous graphics, blues harmonica and sax riffs on the soundtrack, and a no-sweat post-Tarantino attitude. Despite occasional eruptions of gun-fu Asian-action violence, and some intimations of heavy-duty drug use (in the first of 26 episodes, one especially noxious narcotic is administered as an aerosol spray straight onto the user's eyeballs), the tone is surprisingly convivial. None of the generic tough elements are grim or mean-spirited. Lanky antihero Spike Spiegel is a planet-hopping freelance hunter with an ex-cop sidekick named Jet, a loopy fellow hunter named Faye, a teenage computer hack, and a genetically enhanced Welsh corgi assistant in tow. The emphasis is on clever twists of plot in an episodic short-story format with as many wisecracks as punches being thrown.--David Chute』

If you like romantic anime you should definitely buy this (don't watch fansubs because they won't be well done). So many touching moments, and it was REALLy funny too! Although I understand why people do not like the ending... There WAS no ending... You will have to start reading the manga once you finish the dvds because the anime ends in the middle of the story. His and Her has become one of my favorite animes ever!』
(Great art, bad storyline) 『If you enjoy anime for the quality of the art work then this series is really something else. It combines so many different styles of drawing and is really creative and imaginative in the way that it's presented. The music is also beautiful.
The storyline has a lot of potential at the beginning, but it really fails to deliver. There are several 'recap' episodes throughout which are not only unnecessary but frustratingly repetitive. The story doesn't really go anywhere. The quite elegant ending doesn't wash because there isn't enough plot development to support it.
It's gushingly romantic, too. Painfully so at times!
The packing is very nice. It comes in a sturdy and attractive artbox. Inside are five slim DVDs. Covers aren't reversible and there are no booklets.』
(his and her circumstances) 『when two highschool students can prove to a school that they can keep their grades up and still find time for romance i just think its wonderful to prove to the world we cannot be stopped to develop an education and explore loves togetherness in a wonderful way too! thanks Pam :)』
(Disappointing for everyone) 『I purchased the entire series for my daughter, which I now regret. Fortunately she is college-age, as it is not for younger viewers, and it is not a shining example of romance. The animation is sometimes very hard to follow. The main character is a hypocrite, and she is very egotistical and deceitful, but changes for the better, to a degree, over time.
The series starts out like a teen girl soap opera, starts to become a love story, but then slowly crashes. In the end though, the girl (Yukino Miyazawa) seems to learn more about life and makes real friends, but by this time, we just don't care.
At first I really did not like the character, I don't think we are meant to. She meets a boy (Soichiro Arima) with a tragic past, and both begin changing for the better. Subtle changes continue happening over time and things get more interesting. That is when the series seems to have been taken over by another group of people. After the couple gets too close, the boy begins changing for the worse. At this point, everything changes too much, even the titles of the stories admit this.
The ending leaves you empty, our interest goes downhill as the series continues to change. Things get too confusing, which is probably why they are always recapping the story lines. My daughter felt the same way about the story that I did, by the end, she too had lot all interest in the story.』
(Not your typical anime) 『This is nothing like your typical anime - so really clear off any preconceived notions because you're not going to get what you expect.
At first the series is very similar to your standard Shoujo anime. The main character is a cannonball of humor and humanity - not the typical wussy female heroine you often find in this genre. She's someone a real female can relate to.
Visually, as the anime progresses, it delves deeper into an avant-garde style of presentation. It becomes less of an animated series and more an experiment in visual storytelling. I actually appreciated this aspect of the series and looked forward to seeing how the story would be told in each episode. From the popsicle stick figures, cityscapes, flashing images, sketch book drawings, etc. everything was very different and very interesting to watch.
The story itself is great - it branches off gracefully from the stories of our two main characters as they progress in high school and develop into adulthood.
The reason I can't give this set a full 5 stars however is that the behind the scenes problems led to a number of useless recap fillers and a hanging final episode. I presume there was the intention of continuing beyond 26 episodes because the final episode does nothing to wrap up any loose ends (although it seems that most shoujo I've watched ends up with a mediocre or unsatisfying ending anyway.) The bright side is that the manga continues well beyond this final episode and any individual who desperately wants to know how all these fantastic and complex characters will end up is able to read on to a very satisfactory and complete ending.
Understanding that this is incomplete, experimental, and yet totally emotionally captivating this set easily earns 4 stars.』 『Like a drug, Yukino Miyazawa was addicted to admiration and praise from those around her. She worked hard to become the perfect student, the perfect girl. But that was before... him. Souichirou Arima. The instant she met him, she hated him. Without even trying, he snatched the very glory from her hands by easily acing the high school entrance exam that should have made her the class representative. To take back what is rightfully hers, Yukino is putting all her efforts into plotting her revenge; but was love part of the plan?

I had gotten it expecting rather similar, so at first was slightly put off by what seemed to be lesser artwork and badly rewittern characters halfway through the first episode. However by the end of the sencond episode I was hooked. I love this series and cannot wait for the second season to come out. As soon as I got over it not being Sakura part 2, it really took off. And I really enjoy spotting the other characters from other Clamp series that make cameo appearences.』
(Another Amazing Winner from CLAMP =)) 『This is another winner from the CLAMP team - who brought the anime nation wonderful titles such as Magic Knight Rayearth, XXXholic, Cardcaptors, Chobits, X, and many more. As soon as i found out Tsubasa was from CLAMP i knew it was another addicting series that was about to unfold. Many anime fans will know Sakura from Cardcaptors and this is another series that deals with this character. During a ritual of some kind Sakura accidentally loses the shards to her heart that are now scattered through time. So her semi-boyfriend Syaoran must travel through time&space to recover them. This sends the duo on many battles through time, which kinda reminds me of Dragon Ball Z in that they are trying to retrieve something. This is a really great series and unfortunately only lasted about two seasons. I think this box set is heavily over-priced but definitely worth picking up when it's on sale.』
(Let the space-time jumps begin) 『As fans of the manga know, Tsubasa goes through several different stages. This set of it's animated version corresponds to the getting-to-know-the-characters stage which often played out as a shounen tournament series.
A quick briefer for those unfamiliar with the story: The memories of a teenage, alternate universe version of Cardcaptor Sakura's title character are scattered into different dimensions in the form of feathers, and she will die if enough of them are not retrieved. Under the auspices of xxxHOLiC's Yuko, her true love Syaoran is joined by two adult guardians - a ninja named Kurogane and a magician named Fai, who are also traveling for different reasons - as they jump across dimensions to complete the task, meeting other alternate universe versions of CLAMP characters along the way. But as Holic fans know, Yuko must always extract a price whether she would or no - and unbeknownst to Sakura, the price Syaoran has paid is the permanent loss of her memory of their relationship.
Tsubasa's main strength is the relationships which eventually develop between the four leads rather than the feather quest of the week or CLAMP cameos, which of course means that the inital arcs in which the characters haven't yet become close will probably never be considered among it's best. It also doesn't help that the majority of the padding material common to long running manga-based anime is focused here on the quest and guest stars rather than the extremely engaging four leads. Still, this set includes hints of the character development to come as Syaoran slowly earns Kurogane's respect and both kids - but Sakura in particular - start to bring out Fai's protective instincts. Indeed, a critical scene much beloved by fans between Kurogane and Fai during the Oto arc which cemented their relationship and gave the story unexpected teeth as Kurogane first realized there was something very wrong with Fai might actually have come out even better here. Two one-episode filler arcs are also respectable and fit into these early stages quite well, which isn't always the case with fillers. Also of note is a beautiful score which is one of the series' strongest assets.
Some viewers might not have the patience for Tsubasa to reach it's full potential - that won't come until the material covered by the OVA following Season 2 - and these arcs are somewhat inconsistent with some being better than others. It's best to take this set for what it is: a basically fun romp you might enjoy as long as you don't get your expectations up too high yet.
』
(Final Fantasy Meets Sliders) 『Here's another sci-fi/fantasy anime that is both greatly intriguing and entertaining. The series short story-plot is that a young princess by the name of Sakura is magically attacked by a mysterious villain who wants her unique powers and as a cause of the attack her memories which or physically feather like are scattered across different dimensions, and so her lifelong friend and romantic interest a young man named Syaoran vows to retrieve her memories and with that save her life since if she doesn't regain all her memories. So Syaoran meets with a witch who agrees to help him reclaim the princesses memories but the cost of her help is that the bond between Syaoran and Sakura will be broken meaning after Sakura regains all her memories she will have no memory of Syaoran and her feelings she had for him before. Along the quest through different dimensions you have two other characters both with their own reasons and agendas of why they are on this quest, one is Kurogane a great but arrogant warrior who is banished by the very princess he protected because of his pride and than you have Fay D. Flourite another mysterious wizard who's running from some problem or other. The animation is very clear and sharp and if you've seen the animes Noir or Hack/Sign you'll notice the animation is for the most part similar, also the audio voice cast both Japanese/English did great for this series and the music track was incredible since it was the same person who did the music for Noir, Madlax, and Hack/Sign. The only problem I have again is with the box set, The set is a two thinpack dvd cases which hold two dvds each and put into a paper sleeve I wish that Funimation would at least make the dvd case sleeve out of cardboard or make it a little tougher so it won't tear so easily. The extras are pretty decent you get the usual trailers, commentaries, cast auditions, and the textless intro/ending songs. So if you like your sci-fi animes or magical action animes here's a great selection for your library...』 『The fates shine upon young archeologist Syaoran and his life-long love, the princess Sakura. As the moon hovers silently above the kingdom a beautiful and otherworldly sound fills the air, drawing the princess to the ancient ruins. Her latent powers stir, awakening an ability to cross dimensions. But the process is interrupted as unseen forces conspire to claim this magic as their own. Sakura’s soul is sent adrift across the universe, each memory a feather dancing through the stars. Syaoran will make heroic sacrifices to track down the remnants of her soul… With fellow travelers Kurogane and Fai, a warrior and a wizard, an epic quest begins.
Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (I was so excited) 『After hearing so many people talk about Samurai X I decided to purchase the Complete set.
First let me say that the first disc "Trust&Betrayal" is amazing. After watching the first disc, I was completely blow away and could not wait to put in the second disc. Well, when I did put in the second disc I was so let down. The second disc has different artists and it is apparent within the first few scenes. I didn't expect them to keep up the romance angle that was started and ended in the first disc, but overall this disc and the rest of the set could not compete (except for the Director's Cut of Trust&Betrayal).
I loved loved loved the first disc, just save some money and try to get the first disc because it sets the bar so high that you will be completely disappointed with the rest of the set.』
(samuri x) 『thees movies are what happened before/in the middle of/after the ruroni kenshin TV show the first movie(trust and betrayal)is not the same as the the TV show it is extremely violent and is NOT for kids(but its rely rely good and you git ta see how kenshin got his scare)the secant movie was just like the show. The third movie was alright it was pretty much a revue over the hole show.over all i loved it.』
(George Lucas Should Have Hired The Writer of Samurai X) 『It's a shame that George Lucas didn't hire the writer of Samurai X to pen his most recent StarWars trilogy. As I watched this absolutely amazing movie, I couldn't help but feel that this is exactly what the backstory for Anakin Skywalker should have been.
The main character of Samurai X, Kenshin, has a lot in common with Anakin. Both were sold into slavery, and both have an uncompromising idea about what justice is and how it should be carried out. But unlike Anakin, with Kenshin you believe his motivations. And you're worried about the poor guy for the same reasons that you fear him. That should have been my reaction to the man behind the Vadar mask.
Samurai X begins as a bloody mess, but the horrific violence is more than just a cheap thrill for entertainment. It serves as the tragic motivation for a young Kenshin who watches his only caretakers brutally murdered. He is adopted by a mostly silent but stern swordsman who teaches him the art of the sword, attempting also to learn him the virtues of balance, before allowing him to seek out and find his vengeance. However, Kenshin breaks free before such balanced is learned and he soon finds himself becoming the tyrant that he vowed to eradicate. Sound familiar?
Where StarWars got it wrong, Saamurai X gets it right and then some. Even the love the story between Kenshin and Tomoe, who he meets at the peak of his blood quest, is far more convincing than Ankakin and whats-her-name. By the time Kenshin meets Tomoe he has sustained a mysterious facial wound that refuses to heal. The Greek maxim "the gift is in the wound" comes to mind as Kenshin begins to understand for the first time not all of his emotion are predicated on violence.
I'll stop here, lest I say too much. I borrowed this movie. Now I intend to buy it. Maybe even two copies. One being for ol' George.』
(Just buy "Trust&Betrayal") 『Trust and Betrayal ...is a Masterpiece but I am not rating just that story. I am rating this Box Set. Reflection, yawn, another disc in the set, drags on and on and I fell asleep. Another disc.."The Movie" was a complete waste and seems geared towards an audience that is about 7 to 12 years old. There are a total of 5 discs in this set. Trust and Betrayal....Reflection ...and The Movie. "Trust and Betrayal" also "Reflection" give you the "Directors Cut" version as well. All in all 3 discs plus two "Directors Cut" for a total of 5 discs. As for myself this set is not worth the money. If you can buy "Trust&Betrayal" by itself then you have the best that this set has to offer. To tell you about "Trust&Betrayal"...there are no demons..no witches or Dragons or any bizarre animals. It is one the best stories that I have had the pleasure of watching. There are broken hearts and lessons learned the honorable and untrustowrthy with great action in between. After all it takes place in fuedal Japan so there is plenty of blood that sprays out of them like a busted fuel line under pressure....grin. I would highly recommend this one disc.』
(Bloody, dramatic goodness.) 『I can't praise Trust&Betrayal enough, but I've no reason to blather on about that, since anyone else who has seen it can do that for me. I'm talking about Reflection here, and how it's really good, despite what many others may say. I loved it; I knew going in that it wouldn't be bloody (duh, since Kenshin is using the sakabato at this point). I think that Reflection wrapped up the series very well; Kaoru's final line being Kenshin's name was the perfect way to go. I really enjoyed the recap, especially since it's been forever since I watched the series. No, it's not bloody, violent or sexy, but it beautifully reviews the series and captures the much more heavy-hearted side of Kenshin and Kaoru's relationship. You can't really go in expecting Hitokiri Battousai, but all the beautiful, heart-clenching drama is there.』 『Nineteenth century Japan: a land torn by warfare and rebellion, where small bands of soldiers seek to overthrow the tyrannical Tokugawa Shogunate. Enter Kenshin, a young orphan whose fighting skills were honed by the great swordsman Hiko. But Kenshin’s soul is embattled much like the killing fields of Japan, with his hopes for a new world peace at odds with his life of blood and killing.』

I find myself watching them when I just want to relax and smile. It is an easy series to sit down and watch an episode or two.』
(The third season of Ranma 1/2) 『This set contains the twenty-four episodes that comprised the third season of Ranma 1/2, and also has five special features.
The first two extras are the textless opening and the textless ending. As expected, the textless opening and ending are just the opening and ending credits without the text. The third extra is a line art gallery, which has roughly fifteen pages of model sketches of characters and locations. Next is a cast list, which is a list of the English and Japanese voice actors for each character. The final extra are actor profiles, which are filmographies for the English voice actors.
Ranma 1/2 Hard Battle is a rather "low frills" DVD set, and the extras are rather similar to the ones on the Ranma 1/2 Anything-Goes Martial Arts set. While these features are better than what appeared as the extras on the first Ranma 1/2 box set, I still wish an effort had been made to track down some of the English voice actors and interview them to include as extras on the sets.
This season of Ranma 1/2 definitely has more of a focus on the supernatural in comparison to the first two seasons (including a cursed bra and magic mirror). While these stories are an enjoyable viewing, the episodes are definitely a little "stranger" than the episodes in the previous two seasons.
Ranma 1/2 Hard Battle tends to run between $40 and $50 at retail. While this could be considered a little high-priced for what you get, the episodes are still worth the cost (even with some of the "stranger" stories being told this season). The series is very enjoyable for an older audience (16 and up), and really should be in an anime fan's DVD collection.』
(Last GREAT SEASON, Awesome SALE PRICE =)) 『Ranma is a great series that no doubt anime fans will know. The series for some reason has been dubbed for years and seems to have finally come to a close when season 7 was released about 2 years ago. It's been over a decade worth of dubbing already. I've been watching the show since the 90's and it's nice that it's finally finished. Overall i am so pleased with my purchase. If you're looking 2 pick up the Ranma box sets, these are the ones to purchase. They are slimmer and more compact and designed really well. The re-releases are the exact same ones as the $120.00 versions but in a smaller package and at more reasonable and affordable price. I got mine form AMZ on sale and it was 44% off which came up to $1.00 per episode. I can't wait to add the episodes to my iPod. This is the last season with the male Ranma voice actor that we've all come to know and love. I wasn't too crazy when season 4 rolled around a new voice actor was cast. That was the only downfall of the remaining 4 seasons. On top of that the animation in season 3 gets pretty sloppy. I have no idea why this happened but it did. For the remaining few seasons the series characters get a slight make over to match their OAV counter parts. But even that wasn't enough to save it from the poor animation quality that was delivered. On top of that the story lines really get less then creative as the seasons go on. But out of each season you still get a few stellar episodes here and there. In season 3 you get introduced to Ukyo, another Ranma suitor and the rest of gang is back as well for more laughs and entertainment. Ranma really has a great cast when it comes to the voice actors and they balance the comedy very well. Overall, i am very pleased my purchase and for the price i can't complain. The shipping came pretty fast considering it was free. Getting this at $49.99 isn't worth it. But hold out as AMZ always has sales on these anime sets.』
(Great Series! Pricey though and shipped slow) 『The anime series is excellent and this particular season is quite good despite what others may have said about episode connection. The only reason it gets a 4 instead of a 5 is because of amazon. Great job!~』
(Where did the story arcs go?!?) 『The one thing that I was really enjoying about the first two seasons of Ranma½ is the fact that they both had a certain season long `theme' to each.
Also, I enjoyed the story arcs that were present in each season, although to be honest, I found that the arcs were getting smaller and smaller during season two.
So, here we have season three.
There were no story arcs to speak of. Pretty much each and every episode was a stand alone episode, with very little in common to the previous episodes of the season.
Although I do have to admit that if season three had any sort of common theme, it was the supernatural theme.
The episodes of this season delved far more into magic and the supernatural than any of the previous seasons. Some of the highlights of season three supernatural episodes included Ranma's female side being brought out of him, a bra that happens to contain the ghost of a vengeful witch, time travelling back almost three hundred years into the past, a soup that makes the person who imbues it super strong, a cursed kendo sword, and three versions of a love potion.
Whew!
Oh, and lets not forget that Ranma gets yet ANOTHER fiancée in this season, although she's now where near as obsessed in getting him to marry her as Shampoo or the black Rose.
Yes, there was plenty of humour to be certain in this season, but I am left to wonder, just how closely does the animated series follow the manga? Did the story arcs slow down in the manga as well? Somehow I doubt that happened.
Also, maybe it's just me, but I noticed a distinct drop in the amount of nudity on screen. That's not really a bad thing, after all, if you get too much nudity, the show risks becoming yet another Japanese Henti.
Man, does that make me sound prudish or what?
A couple of highlights from season three - first, Ranma getting conked on the head and having his female side take over. It was almost painful to watch him (her?) act so feminine! Then there was Kuno's ninja man servant leaving the Kuno estate after a particularly bad day of humiliation. And finally, my personal favourite, the episode where Ryoga finally got his wish and he was able to go on a date with Akane.
After having watched three full seasons of Ranma I have to say this... there are quite a few questions that keep popping up in my mind.
Why is Genma so dishonourable? He's obsessed with teaching his son Martial arts, and yet he's made numerous promises to people he's met (such as exchanging Ranma to be someone's fiancée for food. He's a very poor role model for Ranma, and it's surprising that Soun Tendo is his friend.
Truth be told, Soun isn't much better than Genma, but at least his heart's in the right place and he seems as baffled as Ranma at some of Genma's actions.
How did Cologne, shampoo's great, great grandmother get to be so short? And for that matter, how did she manage to live to be over three hundred years old? And how about Happosai? Since they happened to know one another from their youth how come he's so old as well?
Here's hoping that some of these questions will be answered in the later seasons.
Overall, it was quite enjoyable, but I have to admit that I'm getting a little bored with the stand alone episode format. I will be picking up the forth season soon enough, but I'm not holding any hope that this format of stand alone episodes that are only loosely tied together will be broken.
Oh, and the other downside to this DVD set is the fact that like the previous season, there were no special features present.
3.5 out of 5 』 『It's not easy being teenage martial artist Ranma Saotome, but it's even worse when your martial-artist father Genma takes you from home at an early age to go on a decade-long training mission. He doesn't speak a word of Chinese, and yet he insists upon bringing you to the cursed training ground known as Jusenkyo, where falling into one of the many springs there instantly turns you into whoever--or whatever--drowned there last. And then, the two of you have this little accident...
From now on, a splash of cold water will turn your father into a giant panda, while you...well, you turn into a red-haired (and problematically well-built) female version of yourself. Hot water will reverse the effect, but only until the next time. What's a half-guy, half-girl to do?』
Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (Fantastic series that isn't for the simple minded.) 『Finally a series that I actually think lives up to some if it's hype. I will admit on my first time it came off as mere techno bubble. But there actually is more to it and the characters have a great amount of depth. I laugh hysterically when I hear the characters in Elfen Lied and Hell Girl have depth. The people who love those series have to be on drugs.
The action is pretty good, but it's the realistic characters with genuine feelings that stand out. Don't come into this looking for simple characters or storytelling. NGE will disappoint you if that's what you want.』
(The worst anime series I've seen.) 『This review is for both the series and two movies.
This overall is the worst anime series I've seen, and I've seen a lot of them. There are many things wrong with the series and movies.
First is the story. It begins in the year 2000 when a disaster nearly destroys Antarctica and kills billions of people. It's first thought to be a natural disaster, but was actually a experiment sponsored by a organization called SEELE and carried out by GEHIRN. Fast forward to the year 2010 GEHIRN has changed into NERV a military organization. NERV's primary mission is to locate creatures called Angles and destroy them. The primary story follows Shinji Ikari who decides to join NERV and his father is the head of NERV.
Now onto all the problems with this show.
First is the story: I'm not sure what the creators of this series/movies were trying to do, but they failed miserably. The story as it went on from episode to episode and movie to movie just got worse and worse as it went a long. The story was incoherent and didn't make any sense. I don't mind series that try to have a hight meaning, but at least make some kind of sense at the end, express something even if it's that everyone dies.
Second the characters: I think this might have been my biggest problem with the series. The characters brought nothing to the series. The main character Shinji has to be one of the worst if not the worst anime character ever. He had no depth, emotion, and didn't try me in. He was just annyoing, and I wanted him to die almost from the beginning, the same with most of the other ones. I can't think of on character I actually liked.
Third the animation: The animation done by GAINAX is terrible it looks like something done by in the 60s or 70s. Hell I think Speed Racer looks better than this series.
Overall this is the worst anime series ever and most overrated series I've seen. I really don't understand why people like it. If they want to see a great anime series with meaning then you should check out series like Saikano, RahXephon, and Now and Then, Here and There just for example. Just skip this series and movie, you'll life will be much better off.』
(Hate saying this but...) 『I found the story line repetetive, boring, and predictable. I hate not liking anime but this wasn't very good. The ending sucked. I know it was redone but geese. The sound track was irritating, the graphics could have been better and the characters were on the "un" side of interesting.』
(Not bad, but not perfect.) 『This series started off really slow for me. I only got really interested in the last few discs when the story gets really complex and disturbing. If the entire series had worked this way, it would be a 5 star series, but it starts off slow and takes a while to get where it's going.
The final two episodes are fine - weird, but nothing incomprehensible - but I felt I would have gotten the point anyway if it was all condensed into one episode. The ending was a let down, and I understand that the movies complete it, but the movies were not included with this set, so as a series it is incomplete.
Because NGE was a catalyst for the emergence of anime out of pop fun and into visual art, it is an important set for anime buffs to watch. Much like Citizen Cane may not be the most exciting film for film buffs to watch, it is significant because of what it contributed to the film industry and film as art. NGE could be considered the Citizen Cane of Japanese Animation.』
(GOD OF ANIME) 『I'm going to get right to the point. THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT ANIME EVER MADE. anybody who knows anything about anime understands how ground-breaking NGE was, is, and always will be.』 『A benchmark series in the history of anime, Hideaki Anno'sNeon Genesis Evangelionis one of the most widely discussed in anime. It's not the first series to combine mecha (futuristic machines, especially robots) with theology and a character-driven story, but it does so exceptionally well. The designs of the robots by Ikuto Yamashita are strikingly original; the questions raised about the future of the human race stimulate viewers' imaginations and the characters show a depth of personality rare in anime. The story is set in 2015, 15 years after a cataclysmic explosion in Antarctica that caused the ice cap to melt, killing a large portion of the Earth's population. Although it was reported as a meteor impact, the explosion was caused by human interaction with Adam, the first of a series of powerful, sentient creatures known as "Angels" to appear on Earth. To defend against their depredations, humans rely on NERV, a secret agency dedicated to destroying the Angels with their gargantuan robot suits called Evas. Only teenagers with special psychic powers can pilot the Evas, and the best pilot is the repressed 14-year-old Shinji Ikari, who is a more interesting, believable character than standard mecha pilots. The two final chapters of theEvangelionseries (which originally ran in 1995-96) are highly philosophical ruminations that satisfied neither Anno nor the viewers. The episodes were remade as the theatrical features; however, only the original 26 episodes appear in this set. Not rated; suitable for ages 14 and up: Brief nudity, violence, sexual humor, and complex adult themes.--Charles Solomon』

(Disappointed with Viz; Series amazing) 『Thought I'd post up this info as almost everywhere lacks it or has it incorrect (even Viz's own site).
Box Set contains episodes 31-46. 16 episodes instead of the normal 15 to even out the extra two that come from the total 62 episodes.
Also, Viz has decided to completely remove ending two from the show and instead continue using the first ending. Total drag... as ending one is terrible.
Box 3 finishes up the Hunter Exam and then has a one episode "cool off" at the end before one of the best arcs of the series starts up. Definitely can't wait for the final box in December.』
(Friends again) 『Train, train, train. Fight, fight, fight. "Hunter x Hunter Volume 3" is all about training and fighting -- whether it's to get money, a friend, or a long-awaited duel with one's nemesis (who turns out to be even creepier than we first thought). It gets a bit tedious when our prepubescent heroes spend several episodes learning how to use their hidden superpowers, but it seems to be pretty important -- and sparks off a new arc.
Determined to get Killua back, Gon and his buddies head for Mt. Kukura, the home of the Zoldyck family -- only to discover that it's a nearly impenetrable fortress guarded by a vast man-eating canine and deadly preteen butlers. And after training to get inside without being killed, the gang encounters the biggest obstacle of all: Killua's mother. But the deciding factor in this fight over Killua's fate is his enigmatic father.
Then the boys split off from Kurapika and Leorio for the next six months. Since they're broke, they head off to the Heaven's Arena to make some money by fighting; with Gon's newly-minted strength, they rapidly shoot up the Tower. They also encounter a young martial-artist named Zushi and his master Wing, who teaches them about the aura-utilizing techniques of "nen" -- which are essential for a Hunter. Unfortunately, Hisoka has followed them to the Tower, intent on a fight with Gon.
And in the meantime, Kurapika is also learning about nen, but his quest and his powers have a much darker purpose, and he's willing to risk far more to accomplish his goal. He's even determined to give up his friends.
The first arc in "Hunter x Hunter Volume 3" is obviously all about ripping Killua back from his assassin family, and becoming strong enough that they even merit the family's notice. And the second is about the two boys learning how to become more powerful -- not only do they become more experienced in hand-to-hand combat, but they start learning all about the required superhuman powers that a shonen anime has to have. Lots of talking about aura and
It gets a bit tedious when the boys are doing stuff like meditating or messing with water glasses, but the writers inject some fun running gags (Killua's constant torture of the high-strung elevator girl). It's far more interesting when they are learning to be stronger and utilizing their power in fights, and there's a pretty even balance of action and comic relief (such as the "slippers" scene, or Killua breaking the bank with all the chocolate he can find).
And the action becomes pretty hardcore near the end, although Hisoka's fight with Kastro is fragmented enough to give you seizures (and the gruesome aftermath is hidden behind potted plants). But there's also some exquisitely ghastly imagery in the last episode -- Kurapika bound in his own vinelike chains, floating in a red sea, or walking alone through the rainy streets.
Boy-assassin Killua gets the most development in this volume: without his family casting a shadow over him, he becomes a lot more amusing and quirky. And Gon finally gets his fight with Hisoka, who turns out to be even more of a freaky fight-pervert than we ever expected (he gets very doe-eyed when Gon is pummeling him), as well as a few new revelations about what he does when he's not stalking little boys. And we briefly see into the depths of Kurapika's desire for vengeance -- which seems to be at the start of a NEW arc.
"Hunter X Hunter Volume 3" is most concerned with training, fighting, and wresting Killua from his "loving" family. And although the teaching-about-nen subplot is a bit dull, the new storyline promises to be interesting.』 『Studio: Warner Home Video Release Date: 08/11/2009 Run time: 300 minutes』
