We have all three series on DVD and can't wait for the new fourth season to become available.
We have been wanting the movies and OVAs for some time, but simply haven't invested in them. When I saw this become available, it was a no brainer. There is no better way to get all 5 movies and both OVAs.
You get three slim DVD cases in a nice box. DVD #1 has the first two movies, DVD #2 has the remaining three movies, and DVD #3 has the two OVAs (three episodes each). Great audio, great picture, and the DVD menus are fins (albiet a little plain).
If you're a Slayers fan in need of all the movies and OVAs, this is the cheapest way you'll ever find them. It's also very space saving over buying them separately.
One last side note about the content of the movies (which has been explained wonderfully in other reviews, so I'm jsut adding my two-cents). Lena's voice is different from the one in the series. And at first that feels weird, and then it starts to grow on you, and finally you'll find that it's a great voice for the character and it might sound weird to hear the series voice after watching these DVDs.
Heck, even if you already own all of the movies and OVAs separately, buy this to take up less space on your shelf and sell the old ones to help offset the cost.』 『Studio: Adv Films Release Date: 10/28/2008 Run time: 800 minutes』
Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (I recommend this product) 『Super recomiendo este DVD es una de las mejores series que he visto; lastima que sea un poco corta pero la historia es muy interesante y divertida.』
(Best one in the series.) 『This is my 4 dvd favorite of the Patlabor series. Volume 5, Noa and Kanuka put their diffences aside and work together to escape the clutches of an underground demon. Plus the two teaches a mafia kingpin the respect of labors. Volume 6, Kanuka leaves and Takeo takes over Kanuka's duty to keep Ota in control. Volume 7, Noa and Asuma meets Bud and Utsumi. Bud is amazed at Noa's actions as a labor pilot and makes her his worthy adversary for their future battle. Volume 8, the Griffin and Bud gets into a battle with Noa and Alphonse. It leaves a to be continue to the next volume.』
(The Meat of the Patlabor TV series) 『This is the continuation of the Patlabor TV series. The show left off with our heroes in Division 2 participating in a series of stand-alone episodes, and these volumes continue that at first, with a plot against Captain Goto's life, a pop singer joining Division 2 for a few days, and the team having to descend into subterranian passageways to defuse a terrorist bomb.
Then the Phantom from Episodes 10&11 returns at just the moment in time that Asuma and Noa's working relationship begins to go south. This short two-part story provides more depth to the understated relationship between Asuma and Noa, and also intensifies the mystery surounding the Phantom and Schaft.
After another short interlude with a wonderful character story involving yakuza who take an interest in labors (and Noa), Kanuka's tenure with Division 2 ends. But before she can depart, her hapless teammates attempt to throw her a surprise good-bye party and end up reading her private journal detailing her opinion on the strengths and weaknesses of the other members in Division 2. Even at the airport, Kanuka's departure cannot go smoothly, as a pitiful excuse for a terrorist attempts to hijack the airplane before it has even left the tarmac.
Once Kanuka has left the country, Goto must deal with the matter of replacing her; who could possibly keep Ota in check? Mild-mannered Shinshi is thrown to the wolves -- I mean, given the job, with which he struggles. And these trials could not come at a more difficult time for him, as civilian businesses are attempting to lure him away from public service.
Eventually, however, a new member is added to Division 2, Takeo Kumagami. Though just as calm and level-headed as Shinshi, she has all of Kanuka's competence without the hair-trigger temper or competitive edge, and she manages to keep firmer control of Ota's wild rages than Kanuka could. This leads to a few episodes which help establish her character, but then the action picks up again.
The last third of these episodes deals with a new threat to Division 2: Schaft's new Griffin Labor. The new data-gathering machine of Schaft, it was designed solely to confront the Ingrams and defeat them, hopefully bringing away the Ingram's computer programs (looted from wrecked Ingrams) so that Schaft will not have to bother doing its own research and development to compete with Shinohara Heavy Industry's increasing dominance of the Labor market. As Noa struggles against this radical new threat, Kumagamai ends up in the hospital after discovering the identity of Schaft's new man-on-the-scene, Utsumi. Kanuka, meanwhile, resurfaces on the trail of Schaft's private army, known as Triple-S, who were themselves brought to Japan in an effort to deal with Utsumi's rogue behavior within Schaft's own organization.
These action episodes between the Ingrams and Griffin are among the best of the series, and made all the more impressive by the turmoil Noa suffers as she wonders if she's good enough to defeat the "black labor" -- this self-doubt will later resurface in the last volumes of the TV series and the "New Files" OAV.
The disappointment is that the final conclusion of the multi-episode battle between Noa and the Griffin is not in this set; it's the first episode of the next volume.
Overall, this set has the real meat of the Patlabor TV series; it is here that the major themes (other than comedy) are dealt with, and where the majority of the action takes place. The humor will get better in the final three volumes, but the action reaches its peak here with the Griffin vs Ingram battles, and the characterization remains just as good throughout these as ever.』 『The adventure begins! In the not-too-distant future, girl-next-door Noa Izumi begins her job as a pilot for the police force's famous giant robots. Within days, she's faced with a pack of crazy crewmates and the adventure of a lifetime! Boxed set contains the first four volumes of this groundbreaking series.』

(A classic Macross series) 『Being a Macross fan, this is one of the series that I would never get bored no matter how many times I watch. Keep in mind that this movie edition came after the 4 OVAS. So some of the scenes are removed to accommodate movie time. Actually I like the new cut, because it makes the story move faster and there are couple of new scenes (in my opinon) makes the story more smoother and dramatic. So get this DVD before it goes out of print. This is more than 10 years old!』
(Macross Plus) 『I saw the first video many years ago, so when I had the opportunity to buy it I did, and so far I have no regrets. This is an awesome little part of the bigger puzzle that is the macross saga. These episodes have such amazing animation sequences, that they made my head spin. I encourage others to buy these videos (or DVD's) and enjoy their quality and storyline, not to mention the amazing transforming veritech fighters.』
(Truely to all future pioneers) 『Macross Plus really is one of the best installments in the Macross franchise. Coming from someone who has seen mostly everything of Macross (yes, including Macross 7) I can easily say this is one of the best purchases I have ever made.
As has been said this is the movie version of the original 4 part OVA that was edited, cut, and tied together into a 2 hour presentation. This movie is Japanese with English subtitles as the movie version was never dubbed into English like the OVA but don't let that sour you on this buy. Sometimes the best way to see anime is in its original format.
This movie has it all, a great story, high flying mecha action, and of course the trademark of Macross: music plays an important role. Whether you are a long time Macross fan or just like mecha anime in general you can enjoy this movie. Highly Recommended.』
(This is not Macross Plus! This is Macross II!) 『Every review I have read here is talking about Macross Plus - an entirely different series produced several years after this. Macross II is the first sequal series to Macross. The first half is an intriguing set-up for a series, but the second half is lackluster and delivers no real pay-off. PLUSES: The character designs by original Macross designer Haruhiko Mikimoto are fantastic. The animation and space battles for the first half of the story is great. The universe feels like a natural extension of the original series. MINUSES: Poor second half, both in terms of animation quality and storytelling. Overall, a worthwhile diversion for Macross fans, and any fan of Mikimoto or Kawamori's designs. And still light years better than Macross Zero or the infantile Macross 7 which inexplicably ran for many years. Enjoy.』 『In 2040, on the colonial planet Eden, the Ministry of Defense is developing a transforming super-stealth aircraft, a new advanced defense vehicle to counter alien attacks. An extrovert jet fighter maverick is assigned as the new test pilot on the project but competition heats up when he discovers that his old rival is a test pilot for a competing aircraft. The arrival of a mutal ex-girlfriend adds more tension to their conflict. This dramatic, visuallly superb and critically acclaimed 4 part anime series is now available in one complete box set and specially priced for its 10th Anniversary re-release.』 『Despite its title,Macross II: The Movieis not a feature but the six-part 1992 OAV without the title sequences. Then the Marduk, who controls their Zentraedi warriors with the songs of "emulators," appear. The nature of the Marduk threat is discovered by brash journalist Hibiki Kanzaki and ace mecha pilot Silvie Gena, who form an odd romantic triangle with the emulator Ishtar. At first the main character doesn't seem very "likiable" but she gets a lot more likiable near the end, the main guy character is always likiable though it gets kind of hard to watch because he is very dense about some things.
I would recommend this my friends. ^_^』
(WOW.) 『BUY TYHIS ONE. IT'S REALLY GREAT. RESEMBLES "FATE/STAY NIGHT" WHICH IS A GREAT SERIES. GO FOR IT.』
(Another Great Funimation Release and Great English Dub) 『The only negative i can think of this release is it does not have the original uncompressed Japanese audio that was on the japan releases in PCM, here it is downsampled to a low bitrate ac3 mix to fit the english dub on the same discs and use less discs and charge less money. Also i would have been interested in seeing Shana voiced by the same english actress as Louise from the familiar of Zero for continuity reasons as both feature the same japanese voice actress.
Still the voice actress Here is an old pro and not a newcomer and also not an amateur. She really stands out as excellent, really reminds me of stage actress.』
(Not both seasons of the show) 『I loved this show, there's no doubt about that...but what I disliked once I found out was that this isn't the entire series, I know it doesn't say that anywhere; but when it says "Boxset" that means "Entire collection" to me...
Truth is it only contains Season 1 Episodes 1-24 + OVA
Its a great show that I'd recommend to anyone wanting a romantic mix-up action comedy anime to watch.
By the way, there are about 4 special episodes out that weren't on this set, along with a movie.
And thats all I have to say.
5 out of 5 for the anime
4 out of 5 for not stating that it was only the first season...』
(Recommended Collection Item) 『Here we go again. Another story of a supernatural being coming into the world with challenging feelings all the while fighting evil. So why is this one so different?
I wish I knew. This series compelled me to the very end with its music, art style, and stories. To help put it in perspective: Cowboy Bebop is my favorite (as it is with others) and this series has now tied with it.
When a good anime series ends, I will feel disappointed it's over. But with CB and Shana, I was angry it was over. Why? I wanted more. I still do. When an anime inflicts this type of emotion, it's worthy to own. Shakugan no Shana isn't the greatest story ever told, but it captures you and it doesn't let go.
The balance between action and story telling (character development) is excellent. One doesn't over power the other, and this is what keeps the series going. The conflicts over feelings and doing what's right keeps all the stories together and flows extremely well throughout the 26 episodes. You're guaranteed to have a favorite character by the end of it.
The Pros: -The artwork is outstanding. No "scrolling narration" as seen in many "better" anime. The CGI used (Unrestricted Method spells) blends nicely with the art and doesn't overpower any scene. It's not just painted characters on watercolor backgrounds (which frequently have moving action to add realism and aren't static).
-The music is good, but not great. The best feature about this collection is the music does NOT overpower the scene (why production companies do this is a mystery) so you're not trying to figure out what the characters said. That being said, the music ties in well with the action and emotions.
-Sector skipping. You can even skip over the annoying FBI warning!
-Character development is exceptionally done well. Unlike many other anime, this series doesn't close with a finalization of romance. In fact, the ending leaves it so open, a sequel was bound to happen (and thankfully, it has. Now, if Geneon/FUNimation will only get it here!)
-No excessive cussing or "panty shots". This series didn't need them to sell it, thank goodness. Note: There are a couple of bathtub scenes, but no nudity. In this instance, the bathtub scene was a nice addition only because the Flame Haze has never had a bath before! Exceptionally done!
Now, sadly, the cons -There are a few scenes in which it seems the script was altered for American audiences. While I can't quite put my finger on it, it just seems the translation was altered. Luckily, it took nothing away from the story.
-26 episodes isn't enough! I want more! So will you.
It seems there's a huge debate regarding anime and young girls in scant outfits. While I don't understand the basis of the argument (they ARE cartoons), I do know some material seems offensive to some. With that, there is a WARNING I must include.
There is a brother and sister duo that seem to be way too close (including french kissing) and nearly crosses the border on incest. If this type of material or imagery of young girls in their underwear is offensive to you, I would not recommend this series, especially to those under the age of 16.
Personal note: The underwear scene wasn't done to "sell" the series. It is part of Shana's transition into the world, where she feels nudity isn't something to be ashamed of. In fact, the interaction between Shana and Yuji regarding this actually shows RESPECT for the situation, not a sell. Don't let something like this deter you from the series. You'll miss out.』 『You’re dead, you just don’t know it yet!!
Yuji Sakai is about to learn that there is more to the world than going to school and finding a girl friend when he meets a sword-wielding girl with fiery red eyes and flame colored hair. Denizens of the Crimson Realm are invading our world and it’s up to the Flame Haze, Shana to slay them. However, when Yuji gets in the way of her sword, he learns that death is much more different than he imagined it would be. On that day a legend was born....Demon Eyes Kyo.."The Thousand Man Slayer" Since then he has lain dormant inside the body of a medicine man..a healer named Kyoshiro Mibu but now Demon Eyes Kyo has awakened and the future as it was meant to be will now be forever changed.<--Intro As for myself this was a good series 3 1/2 or 4 stars. This series comes in a "Lite Box" which is all 6 discs inside a normal sized DVD case and a single divider, each disc overlaps the other. The format is an anamorphic W/S transfer&the voices are well done except for Benetora who reminds me of a bad George Bush impersonation. The outakes are somewhat comical just do not watch them before watching that disc as they are clips from what is about to come. You will not be blown away by the animation as it is several years old but still it is very well done...deep blues..rich greens. I did not notice any CGI to speak of I would classify them more as "Special Effects". The story itself is nicely done..to start with Kyoshiro is being hunted by a bounty hunter because he ate and ran leaving behind the bill. Just as the bounty hunter catches up with Kyoshiro so does a warrior whom begins to beat on Kyoshiro and not until severly beaten does Kyo's personality come to the surface. That is when you find out that Kyo has his own body to which he must find in order to return to it. While on that journey others join him and they learn that there are 5 legendary weapons, weapons so perfect that a Master can only produce one in his lifetime. Only when all 5 are joined together can history be restored to its true path. I will not break down the whole story for you but having the name "The Thousand Man Slayer" you have made alot of enemies. There is a lot of action but not tons of gore. This has a dark feel to it and while you are solving one problem it leads to another...who is pulling who's strings yet all the time it is part of the underlying plot. Characters are well developed and almost everyone you meet plays and important part. As I said I found this a very entertaining Samurai tale set in the 1600's. There are monsters...magical weapons. Kind of Fantasy/Samurai. The story moves forward and does not get bogged down at any point and the sound is nicely done...you do Not hear the sound of a gong (thankgod) when someone gets hits on the head only once or twice did I see the "Noodle Arms" effect. I have seen it twice and for me the replay was good..I still found myself interested all the way through on the second viewing. This is something I would suggest if you are interested in a serious story. This is not slapstick nor stand alone episodes it requires a persons attention. So if you get bored because there is not 20 minutes of action out of a 22 minute episode then this is not for you.』 『During the epic battle of Sekigahara, two samurai face off outside of history. The heated duel between Kyoshiro and Demon Eyes Kyo is interrupted when a falling star slams into the plains, shattering the ground and engulfing both of them. Years later, Kyoshiro, now a medicine man, wanders the land with a forgotten past. Hidden deep inside him is the soul of his old opponent, Kyo, slayer of a thousand men. When the bounty hunter Yuga and Kyoshiro are thrown into battle, the medicine man s friendly personality retreats, and the world learns why Kyo is called a demon.』

(Not a very good product) 『This DVD set includes exactly what is described, but there are some issues that make me very dissatisfied with the set overall. First of all, the artwork on the box's cover is from the wrong season. They have Metabee from season 3 on the cover, which goes to show that whoever designed the package wasn't familiar with the series. The DVD menu also includes art and character images that don't appear until the 3rd season. This is very strange and completely out of place. Most fans really don't like anything past the second season.
The video quality is fine. The audio is dub only. Would it have killed them to include the Japanese version? I guess that means that this set is edited or censored.
The final problem with this set is that it has been around for a little over 2 years and there's still no word of a physical copy of season 2. There's some video on demand, but anybody who wishes to have the series in a physical format is SOL. Don't buy this set if you're a completionist. Don't buy this set at all, it's a terrible product.
Honestly, if you want the whole series in a physical format, you'd be better off ordering the 13 individual volumes by ADV. They're a much better product than this.』

(Very good series!) 『An amazing anime that often gets short-changed. Almost no-one has herd of it, but I loved every minute of it. The first season is one of great (although the second season is my favorite!) This show has a nice balance between comedy and action, which many shows have trouble nailing. This collection is missing one episode of the first season, but that is available if you truly need to have every one. Its a great gift for any kid if you give it a chance, and while it dose not contain the Japanese audio- it is not a big deal as this is one of the most accurately translated dubs I have ever seen. The show did not do well when aired because it was put out at the same time a pokemon, but when I saw the show- It had a lot more depth of character then the often shallow episodes of pokemon and while I gave up on pokemon a while a go- this still has a nostalgia factor even enticing to an adult. If you give it a chance- it may not be your favorite show as it was mine, but it is definitely worth the price for the classic episodes of this hard to find anime. You will be hard pressed to find a more interesting character then Metabee in a children's cartoon.』 『Set in the near future, Medabots revolves around the supercharged battling adventures of a group of kids and their pet robots. Fueled with artificial intelligence and a specialized arsenal of high powered weapons, Medabots compete against each other in exciting Robattles, with the winners acquiring Medaparts from the defeated Medabot. Usually ships in 24 hours Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (Amazing series, lousy packaging and horrible quality) 『As other reviews about the series itself were already written I decided to write this review on the packaging of the series and its quality. First and foremost I must declare that this series is amazing and you should buy it...but you might not want to buy this edition.
When I received mine and opened it I found out that the box set for the second season had a big crack right on top of the place where you open the box. Unsurprisingly more plastic fell off as I opened the case. Also the 2 box sets (the first and second season comes in separate boxes) are placed inside a thin paper box, so thin that if you put a DVD box ontop of it it will bend. Another thing worth mentioning is that the DVD's are placed inside a plastic holder. They are not inserted into any kind of sleeve or paper packaging and in case your box has a crack (like mine did) they will be exposed to air. One must also address the image quality. It is very bad. Now, I know this series aired in 1994, and I didn't have high expectations. But the quality is so bad that I highly tend to believe they used VHS as the source of these DVD. If I buy a DVD I expect close to DVD quality, and although the series aired on 1994 this US release is from 2006! Someone obviously took an old copy of this show and just slapped it on some DVDs.
To conclude: you should buy the series, but not from this company, and not in this format. Maybe in a couple of years a better version befitting this great series will be produced.』
(Cephiro: Land of Unyielding Wishes) 『*The first section of the review is the contents of the box. The section section will be the story overview.
Just as the picture shows although the box itself is thin and flimsy as a poster. This can easily be bent or squashed out of proportion if stored carelessly.
-Inside the Cases-
There are only two cases for the entire series. Series 1 case (containing the first season) and Series 2 case (contains the second). The artwork on the cases is the same as purchasing them separately.
However as a slight disappointment all the CD's are contained inside one case for their respective season. This would have been convenient had it not been for the slight mechanical problem. The CD's must be put back in a certain way that they are overlapping the other CD's. If not they have a tendency to slide out of their respective places. Also the CD's are not numbered. Each CD for the first season has artwork on the cover. The Second Season is labeled by words.
-Goodies and Extras- As for the last season 1 disc it contains two interviews concerning Magic Knight Rayearth. We learn that Nova was a character based on Iczer 1 by the director of the television series. The CD's contain special features as spell index, bloopers, and omake endings.
*All the extra features claimed on the back of the box are on the Season 2 discs.
Hikaru, Umi, and Fuu are the three main heroines in this series. Unknownigly as the girls are in Tokyo tower a mysterious glowing beauty that pleads for their help. Immediately the girls are whisked off into a strange land and caught by a giant flying fish before falling to their dooms. Master Mage Clef greets the girls after a quick introduction of power-showing. There it is explained that the High-Priest Zagato has stolen Emeraude Hime, who is the pillar of Cephiro. By her clean thoughts and constant prayer she is able to Cephiro a land of peace by the sheer power of her strong will. However Cephiro is becoming a place where monsters roam freely and the people are trapped in fear.
As the 3 premature Magic-Knights are whisked away on a eagle to avoid Zagato's minion, Acylone from destroying them they are left the task to become Magic Knights and save Cephiro from destruction. This is the beginning of their adventures, trials, tears, and triumph in the land called Cephiro.
Magic Knight Rayearth is a funny, serious, yet quick-pace action series with a surprise ending that centers around the three girls and how Cephiro may not be as it is seen to be. Allies and Friends are made along the way. Some depart for good, and even the villains have their reasons for being the way they are, whether it is deemed good or evil. If you are a fan of Christian Hans Anderson's "Little Mermaid" and like Sailormoon, then this series may prove interesting to you.
Everything in Cephiro is controlled by will. However it is only those who have a strong-will that are the true earth-shakers, which can be anyone who possess that determination, even the villains. Each episode is filled with some interesting monster battles, so you'll never be bored by "idle-talk" unlike the Dragonball Z series. The monsters can be unique, ranging from cute-little forest creatures who are truly beast themselves, to a wall of light that is attracted to blood. As said before, Cephiro is not as it truly appears to be.
As the Knights evolve as well as their armor and magic they are at last faced with a grueling task. Complete their mission, or allow sorrow to destroy their only hope of going back home?
--------Season 2---------------------
Season 2 picks up where Season 1 ends. Cephiro is without a pillar and is endanger from extinction. But that isn't the only problem. Now that the invisible wall that Emeraude made is gone invading countries have their eyes set upon the power of the pillar system. And now a new villian appears, much stronger than the last. This villian is of Cephiro yet it is not of Cephiro. A villian which was purely "wished" upon by the people, created by their insecurities, their fears, their hatred and their anguish. Even Hikaru herself, Nova. Unlike the first season however, this time the Knights aren't simply taking forced-orders. This time, they want to fight with their own wills.
Season 2 provides some very interesting background concerning Cephiro and the pillar system. Old allies and friends and reunited, as well as old and new enemies. Nova is Hikaru's fears and doubts and she knows it. At times Nova seems to be compassionate, but by a quick and abrupt insane personality switch she becomes a spastic dysfunctional being that screams "I You Hikaru!" while attempting to tear her and her allies apart. As the first season the action-pace stays true but this time the Knights can choose what they want to do with Cephiro.
If you never heard of this wonderful classic series "Magic Knight Rayearth" or are simply interested in picking up a more 'action-filled' magical girl set, MKRE is for you.』
(Magic Knight Rayearth for any Lover of Magical Girl Anime) 『This item arrived in perfect condition. This anime is full of heart. This was one of CLAMP's first anime's but that does not make it dull in any way. If you love anime, and especially fantasy anime, then you will truly fall in love with this series. This particular set comes with seasons 1 and 2, so you get the entire saga. Hope you enjoy it as much as me and my children have!』

The story begins with Aoi Nagisa transferring to an all girls school and meeting the elusive and beautiful Hanazono Shizuma, the Etoile of the school. It starts to introduce more characters and not just one but a few love triangles begin to form. The 100% girl cast keeps you in the moment of this and they are portrayed realistically than most yuri animes.
For fans of yuri, I would consider this a good buy.』
(Want yuri? Look no further) 『The whole birth of Strawberry panic was a spoof of Maria Watches over Us. They took the subtle yuri in Maria and increased it ten fold. It's not subtle yuri. Girls kiss girls and like it. The manga was more of the spoof.
The anime on the other hand is a dramatic wonderful story that I do indeed love. Strawberry panic I've heard much like Simoun people either like it or don't. I do.
It's about Nagisa transferring to this campus that not only has one all girls school but has three of them and they share one gigantic dorm (the name strawberry panic I believe comes from the fact the dorm is triangular in layout and has a red roof). Upon her very first few moments at school happens to bump into Shizuma who in their first meeting almost kisses her (we do not know if she does or not cuz Nagisa blacks out).
The first half is driven by Nagisa's wanting to learn more about this mysterious woman and the second half is driven by her coming to terms with what has happened.
There is character growth and tons of yuri fluff.
If you want yuri fluff this is an anime for you.
Now much like Simoun Media blasters (anime works is a subdivision of them) packed all 5 dvds into ONE regular sized dvd case. I will say what I said in my Simoun review. I'm disappointed in the design of the box set. There is something to be had with having a nice looking thinpack (with all the original coverart in the slimcases) then this.
But we don't buy the anime for the cases, we buy it for the anime so if you haven't picked up any of Strawberry Panic yet this box set is a cheap way to get the entire series.』
(Stunning Story) 『Yuri by my definition is the relationship between females whether sexual or not. Strawberry Panic is One of the best Yuris around. An exciting story that will have you laughing and crying through the events that surround Nagisa, Shizuma, and friends as they go through high school. For ANYONE browsing for something to watch I Highly recommend this series. Don't just simply watch this series, feel it. Let your emotions follow along, I promise you, you will not regret it.』
(Strawberry Panic is a delight!) 『I own all the available anime, manga, and lite novels for this series. If you're like me, you will enjoy many sweet moments and be left wanting more.
For flaws: There are some awkward transitions; there are story threads that should have seen greater development; and this is a series that ends too soon because these young girls are characters you want to know more about. There are even parts that some may think bear a (too) strong similarity to other anime story plots, but I'll call it homage.
Bottom line: The joys and angst of girls in love is dealt with in a natural and direct way that includes the bitter with the sweet and the shy with the bold. This is a story of charming young school girls in their first (second, third?) blush of love and shares their desire to connect as friends and as more-than-friends. It was a pleasure that ended too soon.
』
(An absolute essential for yuri fans) 『Let's face it, if you are a yuri fan in the west, pickings are slim to say the least. Even if a series happens to have yuri content, it is likely to be very subtle and merely implied, and even if so, masked by some mystical happenings or overshadowed by some other plot device. There simply isn't any straight up yuri romance anime available to those of us in the west, which is very sad. Anime can be seen as a niche market, and yuri is essentially a niche within a niche.
Strawberry Panic is a gift to those of us with a passion for yuri. It is a simple story of high school romances involving many of the common, yet complex themes explored with young relationships that one would see in just about any other drama: love/friendship, jealousy, confusion, self-doubt, longing, loneliness; only with a 100% female cast of very likable, attractive and well-designed characters. It is beautiful, touching, moving, and absolutely adorable. It's like digital candy: a bit light-weight, but very indulgent. The cuteness and sweetness is literally off the charts. Presentation in general is gorgeous, with seasons passing by in the serene wilderness surrounding the schools. There is an aura of mystery throughout the show that will keep you watching. If the yuri content in other anime is implied, then that in Strawberry Panic is executed without restraint nor apology to the maximum extent a 13 and up rating could possibly allow. A truly refreshing series, and we should all be thankful it has been re-released. It is great to see a serious drama with no slapstick, science fiction, or mysticism in yuri form, and I only hope there is more to come.
The plot moves very slowly at first. For the most part, season one relies on some mystery and the charm of it's characters to keep you watching until the much more rewarding 2nd volume. The first volume exists almost entirely to introduce characters and their elements rather than explaining the 5 W's. Your patience will pay off, though.
Unfortunately, there are those who look down upon this show critically; yuri fans and reviewers, who see only it's flaws. No, the show is not perfect. However, we should ask ourselves: if you live in a town which only has one grocery store, what is the best grocery store in town? We should be grateful and appreciate the fact that it's there whenever it may be needed, not complaining. Without it, many of us would go hungry. Could it be improved upon? Of course, but it's so much better than nothing at all.
Please buy this unique gem. Until something better comes along, this is as close to sublime as yuri gets as far as pure drama/romance is concerned, and if you are a fan of such anime, you owe it to yourself to see it. It starts off somewhat slow, getting by on sweetness alone, but picks up later and in the end does not disappoint. Even though one of the main relationships sort of loses some steam towards the end, the romantic story delivers as the very engaging final volume unfolds. As an anime, it is pretty good; as an anime for a yuri fan, it easily scores extra stars.』 『Nagisa Aoi has just transferred to a prestigious all-girls' school that happens to share dormitory facilities with two other academies for young ladies. Bonds beyond mere friendship develop between the two and those around them amidst a school year of heated conflicts, petty jealousies, and crossed boundaries.』

Usually ships in 24 hours Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (Great deal on the second half of Zatoichi season 1.) 『You'll save money purchasing this set vs. buying the DVDs individually. If you're a fan of samurai films, Lone Wolf&Cub, or the Zatoichi films then you'll love Zatoichi the TV series. The production isn't quite as good as the films, but it's good enough. The incredible stories and sword fighting is what will keep you glued to your seat. The original actor from the films reprises his role here and is excellent.
I highly recommend this set, as well as set one. And if you haven't seen the films, definitely go check those out as well. Zatoichi is a masterpiece in storytelling.』
(Season One, collection two, episodes 14-26) 『As stated in the title, Zatoichi Collection II contains Episodes 14-26 of the First Season.
Whether you are a die-hard Zatoichi fan, or a casual viewer looking for something different, the Zatoichi Collections are great place to begin (Or end, if you've already seen all 26 of Katsushin's movies. If you haven't, well...what are you waiting for?!?)
Each of the 13 episodes (14-26) averages *about* 50 minutes. If you find yourself questioning "how many scumbags can our hero possibly dispatch in only 50 minutes?", well, the answer is "as many as he wants".
Each episode is a mini-movie, with all the action, humor, drama and tragedy of a full-length movie packed into 50 minutes. I've seen all 26 episodes of the 1st Season, and I enjoyed every single minute of my time spent with Shintaro Katsu as the immortal-beloved, Zatoichi.
Fans of Zatoichi will notice repeat plot-lines, gags, and similar stunts during certain action sequences, but don't even think of letting that dissuade you from purchasing these treasures. The true beauty of Zatoichi is that it's star, the very soul of the show, Shintaro Katsu, could make a humorless joke funny, or a cliche' pratfall look new, interesting, and even dangerous. He could make eating a steaming bowl of rice look so delicious, that I just had to stop and cook myself some right then and there, while Ichi-san waited on pause in the living-room.
Now, writing a review of each episode is a lot of work, and I'm far too lazy to even consider doing that, so just take my word when I say that even a *not so good* episode of Zatoichi, is still twice as good as almost anything out there. In my book, there are a few *not so good* episodes, while the rest (and there are 100 episodes in all) fall into the *Oh my god, that was awesome!* category.
In closing, I'll just say if you don't already own Zatoichi Collection I, go buy it right now. If you already own it and are reading this review of Collection II, you can stop reading now and go buy it; I won't be offended you didn't finish reading this, I promise.』
(Repackaged) 『Read my review of collection one (1). This is not Season Two of the TV Series. It is Season One repackaged to look like a new season. Rally PO,d』 『A threat is uttered, a blade is drawn, a flash of cold steel and then...a dozen attackers now lie silent, dispatched by the lightning sword of Zatoichi. A humble masseur and gambler, Zatoichi wanders the countryside of Japan, going from town to town plying his trade and rolling the dice. With kind heart and lethal sword skills, he is protector of the innocent and the ruin of wicked men. A pop culture icon since his screen debut in 1962, Zatoichi (played by Shintaro Katsu) was a matinee favorite throughout the 1960s. After a dozen years and 25 films, the blind swordsman transitioned to the small screen in 1974 in the series, Zatoichi Monogatari. Episodes 14-26 have been compiled in this three-volume, six-disc set.』
