(S'ok..was not what I was expecting) 『Now don't get me wrong I loved the whole premise, the acting was excellant, and I loved the back stories. In fact it was a brilliant series...except for some details that noone mentioned in their reviews. In every episode, save for maybe 4, the creators for some stupid reason found it nessesary to show Solty, the female agents, and pretty much any FEMALE on the show showering, bathing, or changing, naked throughout save for some VERY strategically placed hair. It is completely unnessesary and if I had known that that was in there I would never of purchased this set, and after I watched it I brought it to my FYE and got rid of it. Not to mention that when I recieved it one part where the discs were held in was broken and wouldn't hold the 5th disc. So, no, I wouldn't reccomend this product to anyone.』
(I cried... I really cried.) 『 I started watching Solty Rei not knowing what to expect, it was a new Anime recently released from funimation. I must say the series dragged me in as soon as I heard the theme song. It was great, and got me excited to watch. Now I will be honest though, you probably won't hear much about Solty Rei because its english release is new and about a month old really, but the sub titled versions have been floating around for a while. However, Solty Rei is really one of the better Anime's out there.
The story starts of with a cute girl name Solty and a bitter bounty hunter named Roy. The two are complete opposites, but the way their characters bond together is amazing. The story is really beautiful and feels like a roller coaster with all its up and downs. I'm by no means a soft guy, but this Anime had me quite teary eyed throughout it. The characters and their emotions and the beatiful visual style in which it is displayed is beyond amazing. You really get a great feel of how the main characters think and act and why.
The only downside to Solty is that the main story is only 24 episodes long. Amazingly they manage to tie in so much that you don't feel like your missing much, but you just don't want it to end. The story of Solty Rei is full of plot twist and turns that you really just wouldn't expect or see comming at all. A lot of the story is shrouded in mystery and you find the answers along with the characters.
Over all this Anime is a must add to the collection and I certainly wouldn't skip out on this one!』
(This Series Is Good!!!!!) 『Well.....this sereis is pretty intertaining in every deparment. First the story is about a girl with super powers. As the story continues the girl falls and saves the life of a guy doing his job. the guy, called Roy, help the girl by letting her crash the night at his place, and the girl wakes up and she has no memory of anything. One thing leads to another they find out she is a cyborg/robot, but all-in-all the series was intertaining. the whole series had a serious tone/mood to it but it had its funny, sad, and screwed up parts in it as well. This series is a must buy for anyone even if your not an anime-junky ;)』
(Great story telling! Very Satisfying!) 『This is so good it makes me happy seeing it in my collection.
The story telling is top notch... Because of that you can easily believe that the events happening are meaningful even though they are rich with Sci-Fi energy.
The animation and character design is comparable to Burst Angel (The 3D work is just as excellent too). The characters in this are much more modestly dressed than they were in BA though.
The premise of the story is comparable to Elvin Lied or Chobits (Or many others.. for that matter...). Except the Male in the story is a grouchy old man, rather than a horny teen. The role of Solty ends up not being a sensual relationship but is still very loving.
The ending is deeply moving... I'd like to say more about it but I don't want to spoil the transformations that you see the characters go through. Suffice it to say: It is highly likely you will "FEEL" many emotions throughout this work.
I wish I could give it more stars...
The art is fantastic. The story is believable, even though it is way out in left field. It is semi cliche' but it is done well enough to overlook any of that. The 3D works very seamlessly into the 2D work. The Production quality is very high. Also, the story has three phases of endings... which closes the story any way you want it to close...
This was worth every penny spent.』 『It’s been twelve years since the Blast Fall, an unexplained disaster that left countless dead and many more maimed. Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (An Entertaining Sci-Fi Series Withouth The Battles Or Robot Mecha) 『The series is surprisingly entertaining an that even though it doesn't have the gundam mecha battles or major conflicts it still becomes an addictive series as you watch it from start to end. The series begins in the future after the earth is almost eradicated of life after a nearby star goes nova and kills about 95% of the human population, after this catastrophe the humans have built massive stations in space with the hope of using advanced technology to stave off another disaster like the one they've to face before. The story also tells of a group of young pilots with the job of helping these stations and other missions on the space stations and one in particular Shima Katase a computer programing genius with growing exceptional piloting skills is the main focus point of the series. The characters are very entertaining both the pilot candidates and their trainers and the commanders as they reach out to one another and form friendships as well as some romantic connections between some of the characters as well. The story for the series while not as dramatic as other sci-fi anime series is still fun to watch and should not put off other anime fans who've never seen the show before, the animation and voice cast are very good for the series and while it's not widescreen the picture leaves no complaints. the extras aren't much just the usual trailers and textless intro/ending songs for the show but for the price I got this for from the seller again no complaints. So if Funimation doesn't re-release the series you can do what I've done and just buy from one of these sellers and again for $40 dollars for the series a definite must get...』

The animation is oldschool but the story was nice. If you are looking for a good story and don't mind dated animation this is worth a look.』
(Perfect Perfect Perfect) 『Great delivery, great product. The Case was in good condition and looked great. All the episodes included. I have Not a SINGLE complaint.
』
(Not worth watching.) 『The action is good, the animation is good, and the story is ok.
There are problems: The ending was horrible. The intro was horrible. A lot of the city structure and vehicles are umbrellas or balloons. There are some weapons that are tops like the ones being ejected from the vehicle. There is only one concentration, which is just the monster. There should have been a background of how the monster was even created. Then there seemed to be more than just Zierum as the antagonist such as the government or other organizations. Why wasn't there another way to free her brother? Seemed kind of heartless, just go for the kill, for that revenge without another solution.』
(Awesome) 『Just got it and it is just as good as the first time I watched it back when Saturday anime played on SciFi!』
(Loved It) 『A classic anime, and one of the very first anime films that drew me into the genre. Read up any of the other 80+ reviews if you want, I myself am surprised that there has been that many reviews.
The animation FYI, is great for 1994, which was when it was originally released. Those who critique this film should remember that.
Also, if you have ever seen the live-action film Zeiram...the creator making this into an anime was the best, most sane idea he ever had!』 『Iria and her brother, Gren, are a pair of young bounty hunters. Usually ships in 7 to 13 days Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (Azumanga DOH!) 『Episodic? Sort of. Similar to Lucky Star, the Azumanga Daioh anime is compiled from 4-panel gag manga comics of the same name; either you get the joke, or you don't. The manga is wonderful, to see it in anime is exceptional. Azumanga Daioh has also been compared to, strangely enough, the U.S. sitcom "Seinfeld", because of the episodic feel... supposedly a non-story arc affair. But realistically, the character development and day-to-day life (in this case, three years of Japanese high school) IS the story arc. The repetition of comic relief is quite intentional, this stems from the characters personalities... which makes you grow closer and founder to them. Also, like Lucky Star (and Seinfeld), what makes this series extra special is the reviewable opportunities... you don't feel weighed down by a series that is story-arc driven, this is all about the characters. No matter how many times I hear Elaine bust out "Get OUT!" on Seinfeld, it does not get old; either does this anime.
I would highly recommend viewing the anime with Japanese DUB and English subtitles... mainly because of Osaka's character. The character is from Osaka, which regionally, would be considered "down south" for us in the States. And like the English translated manga, the character is obnoxiously portrayed as being from Boston, which is a far cry... the joke in the manga, is that even though the nicknamed transfer student Osaka is from Osaka, she's expected to be cutting-edge and city-slick cool by the other students when they first meet her... but in actuality, she's quite spacey and slow on the uptake which does NOT come across in either the English translated manga or the English dubbed anime. You'll get and understand the true identity and hilariousness of Osaka by listening to the Japanese DUB with English subtitles... the original dialogue is always portrayed/delivered correctly... dub is often... lost in translation as they say.
Another treat, on a personal level, is that the characters are all Japanese girls, with dark hair and dark eyes... none of the westernized and often whitewashed look or feel of other anime character design... with bright hair and eyes of every color of the rainbow... which is still quite enjoyable, but a breath of fresh air for this anime. If you enjoy this series, I would also highly recommend Lucky Star; although much more in your face fun, it's also derived from the same 4-panel gag-style of manga and isn't story-arc necessary.』
(Comedy is the ony thing going for it...) 『I have watched ~18 episodes out of the 26 episodes available. Azumanga Daioh is only for people who are interested in its nonsense comedy. I found the jokes funny at first, but it gets old afterward; the same or similar jokes reappear across the episodes. The series is also episodic. There is practically no story (i.e. no overarching goal). I prefer a good story over having good comedy, but I did not find the comedy funny after the first 7 episodes or so; thus, I do not recommend this anime.』
(Azumanga Daioh - One of the Best!) 『Do I have qualifications for this review?? Well Yes I think so, I have seen a LOT of Anime! If you have not seen this series yet I recommend it to you. If you are an "Action" fan then it may be a bit slow so have a peek on UTube first! then rush out and buy it! Thats where I saw it first, it gained my immediate interest and soon I had seen all the episodes, and loved the whole lot.
I believe I have this edition, as I live in anaother country than the USA, It was released here as the six disks, in fat packs with the translator/character art booklets and all the extras on disk. Also a special "father" or "Chiyo-Dad" broach. There are 6 disks of episodes and the last disk has several "extras" including a "mini movie". I LOVE this boxset.
Like many, I have watched the English and Japanese versions, Both are great but I do enjoy the Japanese version more, it is cuter and seems more natural.
So you havent seen it? well simply put it is the story of 7 student girls, 2 female teachers and the leacherous Mr. Kimura! We follow them through 3 years of high school, to their graduation. The humor is light but enjoyable, animation is very good, the characters are drawn as not to appear 15-17 years old, but that is their supposed age. There are times their characters turn to almost exagerated stick figures as necesitated by the "moment".
The cast is: (no particular order) Chiyo-Chan, the 10 year old prodigy, Cuteness is her fortay!, Kagura, The not to studious but very sporty type, alway wants to compete with Sakaki Koyomi, (Yomi) studious, smart and tends to worry about her weight. Sakaki, Tall, clever, athletic and loves cats. Kaorin, regular student infatuated with Sakaki. Osaka, The space cadet! renown for her off beat non relevent statements, is good at puzzles and is a horror/ghost story fan. Tomo, the exuberant, competiative dunce, does everything but her homework, Miss Yukari, The home room teacher, very competative, and has to be first! Miss Minamo the PE Teacher, the more sensible of the 2 female tachers, and Miss Yukaris friend and rival. Mr. Kimura, the Math teacher and has self confesed "loves school girls" and is a bit of a pervert.
Quote an Osaka-ism: "You believe in ghosts when you are alone, and you smell a fart that is not yours!!"
Well this is a good view, light, entertaining and humourous and in the end a bit sad when the girls all graduate, why sad? well thats the end of the series, and you want it to keep going!! wheres episode 27?? AAAHHHHH!!
The set is now reasonably priced if you find the right retailer, the set is in large boxes, and so takes a bit of space on the shelf, but heck! it deserves heaps of real estate in my book! Has all the features of the single episode boxes, with a few extras to boot! Great value and a great Anime!

Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (s-cry-ed) 『I personally did not watch this.... but my son who is 23 requested this series and watched it straight through when I gave it to him. I guess for amine it is a good story.』
(Average at best) 『When adult swim put this on for a while. I was kind of curious I just decided "what the heck I'll give it a shot." My impressions? Well, it neither good or bad, it's just average. While it does have a story line that might or might not keep you interested (depending on what episode you're on), most of the "action" is sometimes way too repetitive, that it becomes rather boring after a while; and because of this, I just completely lost interest in by the 12th episode. It didn't really make a difference to me whether Kazuma or Ryuhou won...I was just like is that pretty much it? While there were a few moments of unexpected (and welcomed) surprises, the show pretty much never really took off. I can't complain about the animation, as it wasn't too bad, neither were the voice actors, they did an ok job, the music was ok, but still it wasn't good enough. 3 stars.』
(A Nice Action Anime Decent Storyplot But Not The Greatest) 『The first thing seeing how they did the storyline for the part about the Alter-users and how they are treated reminded me a lot of the X-men comics and movie being the alters are shunned, hated, and feared for their powers and what they are much like the way mutants are in the X-men universe. The main characters Kazuma and Ryuhou are also reminiscent of a lot of anime series two hero's,villains, friends,or rivals who have either a grudge against each other or a need two fight each other to see who is better and of course the lady love interest who loves them both or theres another woman who loves the same man as the first woman does which this scenario is also in the series as well. The action scenes are pretty good as well as the fight scenes between different Alter-Users also some of the secondary characters are killed in the show so that the main two characters now have a resonable reason to continue their quest of vengeance or justice depending on the points of views of the characters. The English and Japanese voice actors did a pretty good job in the series and the video is very clear and sharp the audio is also very clean as well. All in All the series is good but might not appeal to many mecha anime or sci-fi anime fans but still a series worth checking out....』
(manga is better but still good anime) 『though I watched the anime series in fansub before I read the manga is was impressed with both formats. The story differs greatly between the two formats and after reading the manga I would have to say I feel the anime was somewhat rushed. Though still good and full of mind numbing action and very good charactor development. Highly suggest to watch.』
(The contents are exciting but...) 『I would recommend this anime for any action anime fans. Totally, it has a lot of fightings and battlings in this anime. Generally, it is very exciting and draw my curiosity to the finale. As I refuse to expose the details, I can say I was excited while watching it. However, the finale might be a little disappointing, not about the result. It is about how it wraps up the stuff』 『Twenty-two years before this 2001 sci-fi adventure opens, the Kanagawa region of Japan was devastated by a major earthquake; the "Lost Ground" suffered the most serious damage. A small percentage of the inhabitants who cling to life amid the devastation are Alter Users, whose psychic abilities enable them to createmechaforms of themselves. Hot-tempered, red-haired Kazuma is a powerful Alter who defies all authority. His obstreperous attitude brings him into conflict with Ryuho, a dedicated officer in HOLY, the special police force recruited from the Alters. They command so much power, their battle reconfigures the topography of the Lost Ground.
What setss-CRY-edapart from formulaic mutant good guys vs. sinister military-industrial cabal series is the relationship between Ryuho and Kazuma. Like evenly matched high school athletes, they pursue a rivalry tinged with admiration and even grudging affection. Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (I had no idea...) 『When I bought this DVD set in 2000, that it would become so popular among us anime fans, nor such a rare or valued collector;s item.
I've been a big anime fan since the early sixties, when Astroboy first hit NBC. As American anime distributiors in this country is somewhat collapsing in on itself, this sort of collector's example should tell Japan that there is still a HUGE marlet for thier anime product over here.
I would really hate to see the anime fans here in the US have to go back to the bad old days, when the only anime in America was poorly made and somewhat illegal fansubs.

(Review of Tenchi Muyo OVA: A dream for any Tenchi or anime fan) 『I remember when I watched the Tenchi Muyo OVA series for the first time. It was back in the 90's when I was going to college. I caught this show on a program line-up called Toonami on Cartoon Network. I loved Tenchi Muyo OVA it was a rip roaringly hysterically good time then and it still is. The premise of the series is a young man named Tenchi Masaki is about to have his life turned upside down. Several crazy, extremely powerful, and quirky alien women fall in love with him and move into his house which is transported to a mountainous region in Japan. The first woman is Ryoko a powerful 500 year old space pirate who has looks that could kill and quite a flare for doing and saying the most shocking things. The second is Ayeka a stunning princess of the planet Jurai, proud, proper, and fairly conservative in her ways she provides the perfect humorous counterbalance to Ryoko; alongside Ayeka is her little sister Sasami, a cute and cuddly little girl who hides a powerful secret. The next woman is Washu, a brilliant and mad scientist who wields an amazing array of scientific gadgetry beyond imagination, and the final woman in this cacophony of insanity is Mihoshi, a tanned, beautiful, and humorously ditzy Galaxy police officer whose record is definately not the greatest. Add into this two powerful cylindrical creatures made of living wood called Jurai guardians, a cabbit (A creature that's part cat, part rabbit) with a fierce appetite for carrots, and the fact that Tenchi's grandfather Katsuhito is in fact a legendary warrior who defeated Ryoko centuries ago and you've got the makings for a hysterically awkward situation. In the course of the series Tenchi will discover incredible truths about himself as he tries to maintain his sanity among all the women vying for his affections, and powerful villians who have bad intentions for Earth. Make sure you have a chair with a good seat belt because you're in for one REALLY wild ride. One word of warning though this series contains adult humor and some nudity so I strongly suggest no kids under the age of 18 watch this. The acting in the English version and the subtitles in the Japanese language version are fairly good. And the THX and Dolby sound make for a first rate experience. That's why I'm giving Tenchi Muyo OVA (OVA Translates to: No Need for Tenchi by the by) a big thumbs up and a 5 star rating.』

(No Need? No way!) 『I've been a fan of this OVA series since '96, when I was first turned onto it by the Anime Society at the University of Texas at Austin (Yes, that's what they called themselves). Those were great days for anime, not a lot of people were aware of the genre yet, so it was still a very subversive (and cool) thing to be an otaku. I promptly picked up the first seven episodes on VHS at A-kon that year, and over the years, I've lost this tape and that, until I've only got a few episodes left. But I digress. (OVA Vol. 1-13, plus specials)』 『Although the title means something along the lines of "no need for Tenchi," everyone wants the hapless hero of this popular series. These 13 OAV episodes reunite the cast from the TV show, but with some changes. Sasami is initially much younger and less domestic; grandfather Masaki turns out to be Yosho, the long-lost Jurai prince who was betrothed to Ayeka centuries ago; genius-in-residence Wasshu reveals an unexpected bond with interstellar outlaw Ryoko. The tone is a little racier than the broadcast version: Ryoko runs around naked and the attempts to seduce the terminally klutzy Tenchi are more pointed.
In the first adventure (episodes 1-7), Tenchi inadvertently wakes a mummified demon who was imprisoned at the Masaki family shrine 700 years ago--none other than space pirate extraordinaire Ryoko. The problems she causes are dwarfed by the arrival of Jurai princesses Ayeka and Sasami, bubble-brained Galactic Police Agent Miyoshi--and interstellar criminal Kagato. Assuming the role (and costume) of the Crown Prince of Jurai, Tenchi defeats the evil Kagato with a magic sword that resembles the lightsabers inStar Wars.
Unexpected arrivals keep the Masaki household in chaos in the later, shorter adventures (episodes 8-13), including a baby cousin of Tenchi's, a shape-shifting robot who impersonates Ryoko, and the Emperor and Empress of Jurai. The writers occasionally lose track of the plot, especially in episode 13, "Here Comes Jurai," butTenchihas never been noted for its logic. In all the episodes, the filmmakers manage to balance interplanetary threats, teenage romance, and broad comedy with their usual aplomb.
TheTenchi Encyclopedia(powered by Wasshu OS) offers short biographies of the main characters with clips and stills, pencil tests, digital comics, Japanese commercials, and full credits for the series. A must-have forTenchifans.--Charles Solomon』

(Terrific films) 『I have always been a fan of Japanese cinema and came upon Zatoichi series a few years ago. I have never been disappointed with the films and was excited when I came across this box set. It was at a terrific price and includes a nice variety of the Zatoichi films. Shintaro, mixes pathos, comedy, strength and compassion, into his Zatoichi role and brings to life a character that you actually are drawn to. The difference between these films and many of the other "martial arts" films, by the way I don't really consider this a martial arts film, is that they spend as much time exploring the feelings and relationships of the characters. The plots have some depth to them and it's not always a case of good versus evil. So bottom line, terrific series and this set is a terrific way to get a introduction to the Zatoichi character.』

(A Great Deal--Highly Recommended) 『As others have noted, the Zatoichi movie series is a classic--outstanding and immensely enjoyable. This collection is a good value. The DVD reproduction seems to be first-rate (each movie looks better than I remember seeing it decades ago), and the subtitles are very well done: Not only are the translations good, but they appear below the wide-screen picture rather than on top of the scene. Occasionally there's even a little note displayed above the picture defining a term, such as "palanquin" ('kago' in Japanese).
I have one small complaint. Each of the 7 movies is individually shrinkwrapped with 3 of those incredibly annoying antitheft stickers. I paid good money for the collection, so why am I treated like a potential thief and made to waste time every time I open one? That's just plain rude. I could have used Zatoichi's help getting the DVDs open for the first time, and had he decided to pay a call on the packagers, I wouldn't have tried to stop him.
Warning: This collection is a hook. Once you see all 7 movies, you'll want to see the other 19, and individually they'll set you back a good deal more. Oh, well!』 『Katsu Shintaro stars as Zatoichi, the Blind Swordsman, in seven of his finest adventures all presented in full color anamorphic widescreen! In case you aren't familiar with the technique, it is one in which a bully or group of bullies take a weaker individual, flip them upside down, dip their face into the toilet and flush. In normal circumstances, aside from being terribly unhygienic, the only long-term affect to the victim is a bit of a tall, twisted hairdo. Believe it or not, Kyo kara Maoh! The collection comes in at a whopping 975-minute runtime and packs a nice host of special features. Among these are a conceptual art and image gallery, textless themes, memory slideshow, promos, and previews for upcoming Funimation releases.
Language options are of the sub&dub variety; original Japanese dialog and English dub each presented in Dolby Digital 2.0 and the choice of English subtitles below either.
The show wears an appropriate13&Up rating. Appropriate because while there's nothing extremely offensive for the youngsters, it's quite possible that children around the age of 13 will get the most entertainment out of the multitude of gags presented here (after all, its doubtful they would have needed my above definition of a swirly).
The story goes something like this: Yuri Shibuya happens upon a new and wild world once bullies stick his head in the toilet. After encountering some nobles and discovering that the world as he knew it was no more, our hero discovers that he's the long-awaited Demon King (and here you thought he had it bad enough just surviving high school).
It turns out that in this new world (called the "Great Demon Kingdom"), humans are the enemy and though considered a human in our world, Yuri is classified as a demon there. Not just any demon at that; but rather the one who could balance out the tension between the humans and the demos.
After a brief return to Earth, Yuri is forced to contemplate which world is more to his liking. Long story short, thus begins young Yuri's reign as Demon King. Did I mention that magic is a fact of life in the Demon Kingdom but the catch is it only works in the thralls of battle? Yuri will learn these things just as the viewer does and more often than not: it's too little, too late.
If your still with me after all of this, let me just say that it was all be completely and hopelessly ridiculous except for one redeeming quality; It's pretty darn funny at times.
Kyo kara Maoh! has the distinction of combining fantasy elements with comedic charm to such accord that it harkens back to some of Monty Python's earlier works. Each episode is driven along by a fantasy inspired plot structure (find the magic sword, figure out a way to get back home, learn how to cast spells, etc.) but actually consists of dozens of silly humorous moments to connect the grander dots. Need examples? Well Yuri ends up accidentally getting himself engaged to be married (to another man) by the second episode, encounters some jiggly sumo wrestlers, pirates in schoolgirl uniforms, and gets up close and personal to a g-string by the fifth episode!
The offbeat and prevalent humor presented here depends heavily on its cast of characters. Luckily it works, much to the credit of the show's writers. Wolfram's snappish attitude makes a great counterpoint to Yuri's easygoing nature. The women aren't forgotten either, take Celi (the former Demon Queen) and her forceful personality and the eccentric inventor Anissina who has more tricks up her sleeve than a Vegas poker pro.
The music works really well with upbeat rock beats in the lighter moments that switch subtly to orchestral scores when the tension goes to red alert phase. Geneon's dub, though pale to the efforts of Funimation's more recent stuff, maintains the comedic intentions of the program. The script, however, does take a few ugly twists in effort to "Americanize" some of the jokes and puns. It is serviceable if you've only experienced the show in English but starts to lose ground once you compare it to the original Japanese script.
In all, this is a show that could be considered an instant classic or a blend of sheer strangeness depending entirely upon your mood going in. The fantasy elements work really well in both languages and the humor is equally addicting (especially in the Japanese version). However, if you were seeking a well plotted, fantasy adventure, you would probably better off looking into the much-less gimmicked One Piece series.
I came in not knowing what to expect and came out quite amused. It's silly for sure, but sometimes that's exactly what you were looking for, even if you didn't know it.』
(An interesting start to a good show) 『Kyo Kara Maoh is the story of Yuri Shibuya (or Shibuya Yuri if you're watching in Japanese) a 15 year old high school student who gets sucked into an alternate world. And yes, he gets there through a toilet the first time. But stay with me here. Yuri awakens in a medieval type village and is informed shortly thereafter that he is the new Demon King (the Maoh of the title). It seems that Yuri, with his black hair and black eyes, is an extremely rare type in this world. He also has incredible magical abilities that he never knew about. Included in the story are conflicts between the humans and demons, unusual creatures (flying skeletons anyone?), swordfighting, a reluctant king, and a healthy dose of humor. Actually some of the side stories are downright silly. But despite it all Kyo Kara Maoh is a really great show. Season one starts off well and treads water for a while in the middle but it ends on a high note. A few filler episodes are to be expected when one season has 39 episodes so it's forgiveable. Filler aside, it's really grown on me. The main plot that's begun in season 1 carries over through all of season 2. It works out in a very interesting way too despite a slightly slow start. I can't recommend it enough. I'm also biding my time until the Season 2 set is available and holding out hope that Season 3 will be released for the English speakers eventually too. Kyo Kara Maoh has a great cast of characters and has a fun sense of humor. It's also suprisingly little kid friendly. With a bit of editing, even younger kids can enjoy it which is nice. Most anime is really not child friendly so it's always good to find one that is. Now for the details of the set: Season one is 39 episodes which are split into 9 different discs. The discs are packed into slim line cases, two to a case (except for the 9th which is by itself). As with all slim line cases, the discs are liable to pop out of the cases but the packaging is otherwise pretty nice. The cases include the original cover art from the previous set (this is a rerelease) and list the episode names with a few screenshots. All of this fits into a box which is a little on the thin side but keeps them together and neat all the same. And all 9 discs have both Japanese and English audio along with subtitles. They also include a few extras like slide shows and trailers for other shows. So the pricetag might be a little high but you get a lot of show for your money. You hardly even need any extras. Oh and I have to say, the Japanese audio is way better than the English dub for this show. I watched most of season 1 in English the first time around and couldn't stand Wolfram (Yuri's accidental fiance. Yes, a man. In the Great Demon Kingdom they do that). Many of the voices are better in Japanese so I recommend watching it that way. Plus if you're a fan of the Gravitation anime, Gunther shares a voice with Yuki Eiri.』 『Yuri is an average baseball-loving high school student. One day, Yuri tries to save his former classmate froma group of hoodlums. Turning on him, they drag Yuri into the bathroom and push his face into the toilet. When they flush the toilet, he is transported to another world. Yuri is taken to a castle and crowned King of the Demon World! Is he going to end up as the leader of the land, surrounded by his extraordinarily handsome lieges or will he make his way back home?

Usually ships in 24 hours Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (Awesome film) 『This season 1 set was every bit as fubby as it's season 2 alternate story line. I'm glad I got it.』
(Awsome Show one above many) 『The series started out a bit awkward, but as th story started to develop the show got so interesting i went to bed at 5am every day so i could view more and ore episodes. i love it how the story developed; the character that mostly caught my eye was Asuna Kagurazaka. I love the way she acts, the way she handles everything. to me the most important character in the whole story was her more than any other character. saying these it means that i rate these show a 5 star show out of all the shows i own. as soon as i saw it i had to buy it.
Now i have seen these show over 3 times and it hasn't arrived yet. i can wait until it gets here. LOve it.』
(Wish FUNimation had put more effort into this set) 『Negima! The Complete Collection is a four-disc DVD set that includes all twenty-six episodes of the original Negima! series. The set is packaged in two thinpack DVD boxes, and each thinpack box includes two DVDs. The first two discs include seven episodes, while the third disc contains six episodes, and the final disc includes six episodes and the special features. For special features, there is a textless version of the opening, textless versions of both endings, as well as trailers.
When you start watching the set, Negima! comes off as a rather light-hearted show. But as you progress through the series, the tone starts changing. The tonal change becomes a bit more noticeable on disc three, and the tonal shift is completed on disc four. By the end of disc four, expect to see some pathos, and you might need a handkerchief while watching a couple of the episodes.
In some respects, I'm disappointed at the relative lack of effort FUNimation put into this set. While it was nice they could fit an impressive number of episodes on each disc, this seem to come at the cost of a lack of special features. I'm also a little disappointed with the fact that the "Episodes" menu is not a "scene selection" menu. Even with its flaws, this set is still a worthwhile addition to your anime DVD library if you're a fan of the original Negima! series.』
(not so good) 『A 10 year old boy is the new teacher for high school girls, with pedophile jokes, girls with no skirts, no panties. Awkward, uncomfortable. Not good, not clever, not funny.』
(Welcome to the Mahora Girls Academy!) 『It is easy to call "Negima!" the anime equivalent of Harry Potter, but it just isn't so. You have two young boys who can do magic, and there the similarities end. Harry Potter was never chased around romantically by thirty-one junior high school girls each trying to steal a kiss. With Love Hina creator Ken Akamatsu at the helm you know you are in for a good time.
You have to accept this basic premise of "Negima!" before you can enjoy the series. Negi Springfield is a ten-year-old wizard-in-training from Wales, with dreams of becoming the Magister Magi (Master Mage). In the meantime, he has been hired as an English teacher for the Mahora Girls Academy in Japan, as well as being the homeroom teacher for class 2-A. The Mahora Girls Academy is not all it seems at first, as its students include vampires, ghosts and robots, although all the normal students never seem to notice this. Of course, all the girls develop crushes on the cute 10-year old, and hijinks ensue.
The "Negima!" animated series follows the first volumes of the comic for the most part, and then suddenly veers away. The reason for this is that the anime eventually out-paced the comic, and so a new storyline was invented. This storyline, showing up around episode 19 or so, is quite different from the comic and might come as a shock to some. However, it is very well-handled, and I appreciate having two versions of the story.
This "Negima!:Complete Collection (Viridian Collection)" is the second 26-episode complete boxset release from Funimation. The set was previously released as Negima! Box Set The "Viridian Collection" is a stripped down and less expensive version of the series, presented in slim cases and without extra features. I personally really appreciate the thin cases, as it takes up less space in my ever-increasing DVD collection.
Both box sets have revised and re-drawn animation, as the animation from the original TV release in Japan was notoriously terrible. The animated series is also much more "family-friendly" than the comic. Most of the fan-service is implied rather than directly shown, so if you only read "Negima!" for the panties you might be a little disappointed. The English-language script takes the "family friendly" approach even further, and is slightly different from the Japanese. Many of the "double entendres" and sexual humor has been removed.
And while I am not usually a fan of dubbing, a special shout out needs to be done here for Funimation's English-language cast. They have done a great job, even going so far as to give Negi a Welsh accent. This is one case where they might be better than the Japanese original cast. Listening to the "Native Speaking" Negi doing English dictation during his English classes is pretty funny.』 『Vampires, robots, sorcery... and that's all before gym class! Welcome to Mahora Academy, an all-girls school where the impossible and the enchanting are a part of the curriculum. It's the start of the new school year and emotions run rampant as the girls of Class 2-A meet the newest staff addition: Negi Springfield. A ten-year-old Welsh born prodigy, Negi has more problems than he has students. As a wizard-in-training, this academic appointment is the final requirement in his quest to become a Magister Magorum. But if he messes things up and the girls find out, existence as an exotic ermine will be his fate!』
